LD42 — Running out of space

Pocketverse Protector by Alfie275 2018-08-14T23:09:21Z

The game was overall fun. Although I was disoriented half the time I still enjoyed myself. It took me a little while before I realized there was multiple of me, and that I could literally shoot myself. The game left something to be desired as far as sounds go, a music track would help a lot. The looks were simple and the lighting and fog add a nice touch. Nice job!

The Backpacker by digitaldude555 2018-08-14T19:31:06Z

A game that fit the theme very well. The art style fits with the game very well, although it was hard to focus on both the bag and the enemies at the same time. Overall it was a cool concept and good execution, nice work!

Cherrytales - Cherryboy and Briar Princess by Beebo Studios 2018-08-14T19:36:50Z

Very good looking game. Great concept too! Even with a few bugs, its a very good game, great work guys!

The Last Floe by LeoRototo 2018-09-04T06:58:14Z

Very solid game! It all worked very well, Usually mechanics like these are poorly made in such a short time. I didn't encounter any bugs or glitches. The art-style was good, although very bright, and the animations were adorable! Overall a very solid game, easy and interesting, great work guys!

Refugee Rescue by William Akins 2018-08-14T23:18:34Z

A neat little game that I enjoyed. The graphics were good and the game felt full. I didn't really feel like I was running out of space, more like I was running out of fuel. Great job!

LD43 — Sacrifices must be made

Escape Pod by aevek 2018-12-04T04:42:54Z

Great puzzle game! The levels were fun and packed with good mechanics. My main gripe with the game was that as the levels went on, they slowly got more and more buggy.

Chopping Block by speakertone 2018-12-04T04:56:12Z

I cant actually start the game

Chopping Block by speakertone 2018-12-05T05:02:40Z

@thevalofman the web version, the start button doesnt work

Glow It Alone by egawag 2018-12-28T06:10:28Z

Thanks @chaczyk I liked the style of your game, it was a similar idea executed in a different way. Yours is definitely more approachable, and much more lively for sure. I really enjoyed playing it and was impressed by how complete it was, which is rare to see in a competition like this, great work!

Tributes of Cronus by philippkick 2018-12-04T04:49:15Z

The drawn art is spot on. The art style is fitting to the game, and it would be great if the rest of the level looked the same also. This game is hard, no doubt about it, checkpoints are nice but it would be good to make enemies attack have more buildup, so you can kill them without dying, but only if you're good enough.

Car Destruction Racer XIV by unplugred 2018-12-04T04:54:44Z

Great game! The sound track really fit, and the little opening animation fit perfectly. The pixelation felt a but over the top, but other then that great job!

LD45 — Start with nothing

Soulcraft by sawtan 2019-10-08T16:53:06Z

The art design is great, the pixel art was really well done. The art is really consistent which can be a rarity among jam games. The sound design really worked well with the art style, it's hard to go wrong with this style. The shooting sound got on my nerves because the best way to play seemed to be just holding down the fire key so I constantly heard the little laser sound. This had a surprising amount of depth to it, I thought I would be just endlessly collecting upgrades. My expectations were blown by a boss battle which I feel like I never see in these games! Nice way to innovate I loved your doom style galaga! Really felt like I went from zero to hero.

Loomed by ThatRumme 2019-10-09T21:00:15Z

13:08.518 minutes! (Terrible I know) What a crazy game! I didn't expect any of these games to have movement that was fun! Good movement in jam games is such a rarity, and the movement in this game surpassed many $60 titles I've seen. I had a lot of fun playing this, the force gun was an absolute blast to use. Flying around the ever changing world was such a nice change of pace compared to the boatload of platformers in the rest of the jam. Out of all the other vapor wave retro style games, this one's art fits it the best. It really has the arcade feel, which is always a great thing to have. I was motivated to get a better score, and keep running back through it. One last thing. If you wanted to push the sense of progression even further, you could start the player out with only being able to walk around, and they have to make it across some beams and collect a jump power-up which would unlock the jumping, if you really wanted to start from nothing then taking away the jump in a parkour game would've been a neat way of doing it lol. Amazing game! Great job!

D*ck Hunt by Dene 2019-10-07T20:59:55Z

Neat game, just needs some tweaking and maybe some more direction which it seems like you guys are hard at work on! Keep it up!

Start with Nothing, End with Nothing. by Ongomato 2019-10-24T20:38:57Z

I love all the visuals for the tiles! The effects and sound are remarkably similar to the game we made (so needless to say I like them a lot!) It's a frustrating game at first, but not impossible by any means. I was hooked on it for the longest time, and I'll definitely be returning to it later. This game would work really well as a mobile app, something you could play in your spare time where ever you happen to be. Great job on this one!

Edit: I left the game open in another tab while I worked, the music is just so relaxing and nice

Orudo Taima by thomas-olsson 2019-10-09T08:52:15Z

The most content I have ever seen in a jam game. Impressed does not even begin to describe how I feel. The game reminded me a lot of shovel knight, but I think it's very original in many ways. I had this fear that I would break all the items out of stupidity and be locked out of the ending, but there were so many scattered around that seems like such a low possibility which is great balancing! My only gripe with the game is the controls, I tried with keyboard and it generally was unintuitive. I plugged in my controller which was a much better experience but the jump was really finicky and the A button didn't seem to do anything but further complicate the situation. The controls are a problem with our game too, it's amazing that yours work so well considering the time frame. Just a suggestion for if you want to continue the game, I definitely want to know what happens next!

Wirm by bar0net 2019-10-29T17:48:53Z

I loved the little groucho worm! Cute little guy who had to dodge some pretty unique enemies that I preferred to the stereotypical walk around and kill you on hit type of enemies. Nice job! If you change anything about the game in the future, I would say a dash indicator is the way to go, I wasn't sure whether I was about to blast off into space or just do a little hope. Best of luck getting all the ratings you need!

Necros by TwinGhosts 2019-10-13T05:08:21Z

Really unique game. I love your take on the theme, and the nostalgia this game brought on was awesome! The game made sense right off the bat which was nice because I could just get into it and have fun. The little bouncing animations were really cute and nice. If you guys expand some more little attack animations would be great, they would really make your huge army feel more lively. Great job!

King Conga by Tad 2019-10-07T20:39:47Z

Fun stuff! I played on the web version, which started to lag when I got a bigger conga line, but it was still playable so I had fun. Funny concept with funny little dancing and music to match.

Spooky Isekai by ahistyap 2019-10-22T16:06:11Z

I would have to agree with everyone in the fact that the art and animation are really well done. There aren't any missing assets, and the game feels complete overall in that regard. The music suited the game well, and the game was dark and spooky, which made it more tense when moving around in the dark. The enemies were there as a challenge but it felt weird to just have them bounce in place. If you decide to expand the game it would be interesting to make them roll after you if they see you, or something to make them less stationary. The sliding was also an unexpected fun aspect to the game, but I didn't really see the purpose of using it. At first I thought you could use it to knock enemies around, which could be a cool feature if you wanted to add that later on. Good work everyone!

Neon Void by egawag 2019-10-07T15:53:45Z

@webus unfortunately not I'm afraid. The game wouldn't work well if it ran in a browser.

Neon Void by egawag 2019-10-12T09:53:12Z

@thetatautau Sorry that you weren't able to configure everything! We're not sure why the configuration screen was skipped. The newest version of Unity may have ticked it off by default. In future versions of the game we will definitely add the ability to edit controls and graphics settings. Thanks for the advice! It means a lot.

Neon Void by egawag 2019-10-22T17:02:06Z

@kevin-ray It was made in Unity! So the lights effect when you die is a particle effect that spits out a bunch of long images. I made six colored glowing strips that I imported into Unity as images. The particle effect emits a bunch of these images really fast, and instead of making them fly out I just made the particles get bigger over time, then shrink down right before disappearing. I hope that helps! If you have anymore questions you can just @ me and I'll make sure to help you out!

Neon Void by egawag 2019-10-29T20:13:00Z

Thank you everyone for all the amazing feedback!

We are going to continue working on the game, and all of your suggestions have made our development path clear and full of exciting new content. We plan to implement and change these aspects of the game, based around all of your feedback so far:

A quicker way to select abilities, Mouse 1 will use abilities as well as the space bar, Controller support, A lighter build of the game that will run in most browsers and potentially on mobile, Configurable Graphics Settings, Survival Mode, Better difficulty balancing, Abilities are farther away and harder to acquire, Variations to the environment, Special enemies, And even a Boss Battle!

Follow our Game Jolt page if you want to stay updated! If you have any further suggestions or feedback, please leave them on this page as well: https://gamejolt.com/games/NeonVoid/443303

Shuǐmòhuà by olddadou 2019-10-22T16:43:59Z

Definitely the most unexpected entry to the entire jam! I want to commend your originality and execution. This game reminds me a lot of Tetris Effect, which is one of my favorite games of all time. This is definitely a great game to relax to. I would think the game would benefit from being a little messier. Maybe to fit the style of the ink, have more splatters splash onto the page when the dots collide, or when you draw something out. I would also be interested to see if there was a way to make all the notes land on a beat depending on how much is on screen. The more you draw the faster the music gets, and maybe if there's enough on screen a drum beat will kick in so that it begins to feel like a full song. But man would that be complicated to program, just wanted to throw out some ideas. Great job everyone!

Everydate by BytingGames 2019-10-09T20:24:45Z

Very unique game I have to say. The concept is really solid, and is a really stand out entry in this jam! I was impressed at how well put together the world was. Usually jam games feel incomplete but this one felt like a really full experience. The music really suited the whole coffee shop setting as well, which really added to the experience. The graphics were a little too polygonal for my taste, but that's just me. Maybe throwing a smoothing shader on all the models would make it look better. Getting an art-style nailed down is not an easy task, but this game was very consistent which is great. I would just recommend either using less polygons or smoothing out the model to hide all the polys. Out of all the jam games I would be really interested in seeing this one expanded. It isn't a stereotypical visual novel at all which is a great change of pace. The characters feel more alive, and the dialogue was really fun to read. I would be down to play an "awkward life simulator" that goes through the characters life more. Great Job!

SPEEDOSS by cax 2019-10-07T20:20:32Z

Great art style, but the flickering light posts were a tad irritating at times. Also when the cat is running on just one wheel, the model gets completely broken. Great concept, but I wish you could actually catch up to other cars and race them.

The Hunt For KNOWLEDGE by Sode 2019-10-28T20:24:46Z

The moving around was fun, I enjoyed gliding from wall to wall. The teleportation up was finicky and it was easy to launch out of bounds without meaning to. The poetic aspect was interesting, with the text popping up in between each level, but the font didn't seem to fit the game very well.

I think the idea of a teleport platformer, it would be interesting to play for sure.

Congrats on making a Compo game! It's not an easy task.

Junker Derby by Wyatt 2019-10-24T17:08:07Z

Great job making something multiplayer! Truly a surprise for a jam game. I really think this has the potential to be an in browser wider multiplayer game if you want to continue working on it. I really enjoyed moving around the map, the car at times was very fun to boost around with. If you want some suggestions: I would make the car turn a little more and have a braking system. And as other people mentioned being able to drift would be amazing! If you want to go beyond that, maybe make a way for the cars to destroy each other in order to steal peoples collected junk! Great job! I really enjoyed playing it, it doesn't need to be multiplayer to be fun, which is great design!

Escape by oda 2019-10-28T04:21:34Z

Such a cute little game. The art style fit the game really well, the simplistic Atari aesthetic was a smart choice.

Music is definitely hard to go for in a compo game, so I don't blame the game for not having it, I would just put it at the top of a list if you plan on continuing on the game. If you do decide to expand the game more, I have some suggestions if you're interested: You could make more levels where you build up different abilities, like level two could be you only have jump level 1, and the goal is to upgrade a grapple hook that you swing around on. Also some variation in the background would help, maybe some clouds in a sky, flowers on the ground, cracks in the cave wall, just little things like that will take you far (I really can't say anything though because our game is completely devoid of those :worried:)

Great job on the game! I'm praying this gets enough ratings before the deadline!

Battleground Command by gamedevkng 2019-10-28T20:43:48Z

The game reminds me a lot of the original Quake, and the movement was nice to compliment that. As a bunch of people have already said, the motion blur didn't really work well for the game. The other post process components were nice but you move too fast for the motion blur to look good.

It's rare that you see a stealth fps in a game jam, so I have to give you props for that. I hope you get enough ratings in time!

Part Wars by mCohen 2019-10-29T17:35:35Z

I really liked this entry. I got hooked from the start and spent a good amount of time playing it. Good concept that I definitely think would work as a little fun game to play any time. Good job, and I hope you get enough ratings!

Raiders of the Lost Bark by Moritz Jaeger 2019-10-12T20:41:44Z

If I was to try and survive a harsh desert, having corgis would be the best way to do it. The uniqueness of this game is amazing. Having to budget your time and plan out your routes was really fun, and finding some kind of structure was always a gamble because you could easily use too much water and die. The illustrations and the 3D graphics were very well done. My only suggestion would be to use the drawings separately, instead of having them in the 3D world maybe have them be in separate menus that you open. I really enjoyed the game, 5 stars! You guys did an awesome job!

The path of Fireflies by Omickron 2019-10-09T20:07:57Z

Very pretty game. Very rare to see such nice illustrations from a jam game, the enemy design was really great too! The firefly mechanic was interesting, but it was hard to tell if it actually was working in a lot of cases. I would sometimes fall off a ledge and die to some flying enemy and get sent back really far, maybe an increase in the vision radius would make this game feel a little better to play because it would give you a little more time to react to what's about to get you. I overall enjoyed the game, it builds a nice atmosphere and has much better controls then most jam games. Good job!

Bankbusters by lovetocode999 2019-10-28T20:29:25Z

Neat little game, I like the concept and your application of it on the classic platform of "run around and pick stuff up". I hope you get enough ratings to qualify!

Survive in Neon lights by HakierGrzonzo 2019-10-13T08:55:40Z

Tower defense at it's finest. I enjoyed having a wide open space to defend, which is what sets this game apart from other games like it. The towers made sense and were upgrade-able, even if the upgrade menu was a little touchy it was nice to have it as a feature. Solid job everyone!

Desert by Pedroso 2019-10-13T08:22:56Z

Out of any games that deserve the title "Desert," this is the only one. With the name Desert there needs to be an atmosphere that is harsh and hot, this game establishes that perfectly. Your feet are never above ground, you're slow, you're tired, the graphics and mood of this game are perfect. The poetic narrative was a great touch which was unexpected. Amazing job!

POLYMON by PIXAMENTORY 2019-10-09T09:01:09Z

Definitely a surprise to be sure. The groovy music complimented the games wacky feel well. Trying to time out the jumps was really fun as the enemies reacted to what I was doing really well which made the game a lot more interesting. A mini map is a great feature, it wasn't put to use much but it was fun to glance at it every now and again. It lagged every now and again for me, which made the game much harder, but it didn't stop me from having fun. I would recommend building it for desktop next time. Great job! The game really reminded me of some kind of primitive evolution simulator, trying to gain dominance in a sea of chaos.

The Thrill of the Loan by TJMcDonald 2019-10-07T20:30:33Z

Very new and fun concept. I really wasn't sure where the game was going, and the lack of direction didn't hinder it at all. It's nice that you can play with just space bar, and it's great that you can skip text when going back through to get different outcomes!

Bobbo the Telekinetic Gobbo by AmbaDev 2019-10-22T16:28:22Z

You dare question my goblin power?! Is something I would scream out loud every time I saw the orc as I walked slowly throughout the map with an entire galaxy spinning around me. Great idea, and great execution. I had a lot of fun with the game, even though there were a few buggy moments. If you decide to expand the game, definitely spread the trees out a little more so that the orc doesn't get stuck in between them so much. Also as other people have said, a health bar would be nice to have. (I also really liked the music so if you were able to loop it in a future version that would be great!)

Good job! The game is really fun!

Lonely Light by NarRenArr 2019-10-08T17:05:47Z

I had fun with this game. The most fun I had was just trying to survive in the middle. Whenever I ventured into the surroundings to look for lights, the enemies were obscured mostly by the walls which made dying very common. You have enough HP to plan out your moves and make strategic decisions, which is really nice balance wise. Dying wasn't all that terrible, which is great to see in a game, but in case you weren't aware there's a bug where if you die the game crashes and you have to restart it. I liked the audio, it really suited the game. The hollow breathing enforced a sense of loneliness and really pulled me into the game as it complemented the visuals well! Great job! I'm super impressed that you were able to make this!

LD46 — Keep it alive

Flowers for Johnny by goffmog 2020-05-08T15:43:34Z

This game really surprised me. I was unfamiliar with the game of life when I played so it was mainly a lot of trial and error puzzle solving as I learned how to play. I really had a great time solving the puzzles and seeing how the different patterns would play out. One pattern would get all but one of them, add one flower, now it doesn't work! This is one of the few games that I actually wanted to play all the way through, and I had fun in the sandbox mode :P Great job all across the board!

Dream Team by notime4games 2020-05-09T19:57:19Z

I've played a lot of games like this in the jam already but this one is by far the one that was executed the best. The shooting was responsive and satisfying and the little puzzles were really fun to play! Hope you reach 20 reviews before the deadline!

You Reap What You Shoot by darkfrost 2020-05-04T23:46:38Z

Simple little game that I really enjoyed! Using a controller made it a lot more fluid to play. I think if you have time you should try and build downloadable versions of the game, once you get triple shot and rubber bullets a few times the game starts to lag if you get a little too trigger happy. The animations were cute and the concept was really fun! Good job!

Vegetation Station by Jajo 2020-05-08T15:17:20Z

Cool little game with some fast action! The jumping made me fall a little too fast so it was really hard to dodge the projectile spitter. And I think it would be helpful if you added a little controls guide on this page somewhere :)

Dziob! by ryjcio 2020-05-03T20:06:23Z

The visuals are definetly the high point of this game. They are very colorful and well done and I'm very impressed. The concept is great but there were a few times when I got stuck during the game. At one point I was hiding in the chicken coop with the fox right outside and it never left so I just starved in there. And whenever I hatched an egg it would send me into orbit and I would eventually fall down, and often land outside the fence where I would just starve. Also a pecking effect would be useful because at first I wasn't sure if it was actually working or not. Keep up the good work!

Flower Picker by yellowlime 2020-04-25T18:25:09Z

Charming little style. Nice work for doing it all by yourself! I'm sure you were really pressed for time, so having animations wasn't really within your scope, but for future reference I might recommend just having the player sprite flip back and forth when you're walking. It gives the game a little more life in most cases :)

Feed It! by Bernhard 2020-05-03T19:10:51Z

The physics made the puzzles fun and interesting and it ran well in the web version I played. Good job with everything overall, I think there was just a bug with the audio that caused a buzzing sound in the background all the time.

Beam Slinger by egawag 2020-05-09T04:14:38Z

@henrycgs As the guy who thought some giant animated animated portals would be cool, I apologize for the file size. I plan on compressing all of the graphics in the future!

Thank you for the input (we seriously appreciate all of it) and I'm very glad that you enjoyed our game!

Soul Dungeon by VugarS 2020-05-03T20:22:20Z

Neat and simple little game. The progression was nice but I wish there was more in the soul chests then just stat boosts, abilities would've been cool! The visuals were simple and well executed, I like the classic style a lot myself. Good job overall!

Keep it Lit! by mharring 2020-04-25T19:27:54Z

Simple little game with lively graphics. I enjoyed playing it although I died in a really unexpected way. I thought my fire was big enough to venture out a little but apparently not and it seems to give me a game over when it was only about half way depleted. This didn't really ruin the experience but it was a tad misleading. Good job!

Necromancer by krakadushka 2020-04-25T20:52:18Z

Very impressive graphically I must say. I enjoyed my time playing but I wished I could throw a few punches at the bandits or something and participate in combat a little more. If you wanted to expand on the game a little more, maybe adding some dialogue lines to the combat section would be cool. Something that relates to who you chose like "John sinks an arrow directly into a bandit," or "Darrel is disturbed by how Gillens is being so brutal and is caught off guard."

Good work overall!

Spoon by Cadstor 2020-04-25T19:47:26Z

Very neat little game with some fun graphics! I enjoyed playing it and it made me laugh a few times when I got caught. The visuals were in a nice style and seeing animation was a nice change of pace compared to other games. My only suggestion would be to try and make it so that the rocks always spawn at the edge of the screen and come towards you, there were a few times when one would just appear in front of me which did keep me on edge I'll admit but I still think it might be worth looking into. Great job!!

LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Minecart Mayhem by masterkrepta 2020-10-24T19:35:21Z

Nice idea! It might have played a little better if you didn't have a lot of control over where the minecart was going, just to keep the action going a little more. The game got stuck a few times, maybe because I clicked a turning button just before I died?

Circadian by somn 2020-10-08T04:15:24Z

This entry is far different from the rest and I thought it was really interesting. It did hit a little close to home which was something surprising for a jam game. Working on something all by yourself can feel like this. At first I was surprised by the fact that I could only do actions in a certain order, but it made sense when I thought about how I normally am with a work day and how I feel the need to do some things before others. My one point of criticism would be that the cooking part felt like it was separated from the artstyle a little. But I might be wrong and that could be the "brighter part of the day", which adds to the depressing nature of the game if a single cooked egg is the highlight of the day. Good job with this one!

Radical Rails by neontropics 2020-10-24T19:00:14Z

Fun little game that would work well on mobile if you wanted to port it :D The music was nice and the objectives and enemies were easy enough to figure out, pretty intuitive. The controls were a little rough but by the final level I was ZOOMIN!

Loop Guys by croze 2020-10-24T19:25:54Z

The AI was pretty good! Nice job on that!

Wage Slave by Riker Greenslade 2020-10-08T04:30:23Z

Pretty neat concept with some fun puzzle elements. It was a bit difficult to figure out what exactly I was supposed to do. Sometimes I just threw the drink out there if I couldn't figure out how to get an ingredient. My suggestion would be to maybe make it so that a list item is added with every drink, so that the requirements become so long, strange, and tedious, that the player feels like they're truly slaving away to crazy customers while working for a company that doesn't care about them at all. A bug I noticed was also that I would make an incomplete drink and get a bad score but the audio cue would still be something like "Perfectomundo!"

Escape The Rings by Andrew White 2020-10-11T03:48:50Z

Pretty fun puzzler that requires patience and dexterity. Audio would have been really nice but I understand that music can be really hard to pull together. A little blip when the rings teleported would have been nice too. Good work!

Bloop by notpresident35 2020-10-12T19:59:44Z

The controls were a little confusing to me and I often found myself wrestling with it. I often felt like I was on a collision course for an enemy and it was a gamble to see which button would kill me and which would save me. Steep learning curve for sure as others have mentioned, but it was fun when you learned it a bit. The bouncy graphics were nice on the eyes and the simplicity of the music and sound effects complimented the visuals perfectly. The music sounded really nice but it didn't always match my mood as I got kinda stressed during a lot of the game.

Stuck on Loop by Britt Henderson 2020-10-06T23:07:34Z

I really liked the overall vibe and the hand drawn style really fit the music.

Into the Iron Mist by Griddolini 2020-10-07T01:42:11Z

I really liked the design! Everything was really desolate and the enemies really felt like powerful forces to be reckoned with. It might have been cool to hoard a bunch of parts then assemble your mech before the next run instead of trying to build one as you go. There's a small bug of still hearing the walking sounds while in the air. But other than that there were no problems! Good work!

Killing Count Time by NiKaDra 2020-10-24T19:12:57Z

Pretty fun but could be frustrating at times. I made it to the boss a few times but it kept bugging out and he was able to attack me during his intro dialogue sequence. It would have been nice to have some kind of hit effect on the enemies, but I understand the time constraints. Best of luck!

Escape-loop by Chukwuebuka_racer 2020-10-11T03:22:10Z

Pretty neat once you get a hang of how the bomb throwing works.

Last Lap by RoofloorWall 2020-10-06T23:12:18Z

Pretty difficult game overall but still fun. Holding R the entire time was a bit weird, maybe a start button would have been better. I also would've loved to see how many zombies I had killed by the end of the game :P

Loop's Way by Linetaru 2020-10-06T00:05:31Z

The game gave me super unforgiving + Portal vibes. The aesthetic was familiar for 3D puzzle games and I rather enjoyed how easy it was to jump in. The textures for the walls looked kind of like the carpet at an arcade which was a little jarring but it wasn't a huge deal. I figured out the controls easily enough but it still would've been nice to have a "how to play" screen somewhere. The game was fun to play but my FOV felt a little too small. In the platforming sections it became annoying. Creative use of the theme! The puzzles were creative and well done, which is something that's hard to pull off. Good work overall, and again I really like how you interpreted the theme.

Constituent by Thomas Carey 2020-10-07T00:02:35Z

Great Game! I'm really impressed by the design of everything and how well it worked. Interacting with past selves was really funny sometimes and it's nice to watch in anticipation as you hope you didn't screw up in the past. I always like being able to jump in first person games, but that's more personal preference than anything.

I wanted to make a time rewind mechanic for a game in the past but I couldn't manage to store position values and the like without the game lagging. How did you pull it off?

Constituent by Thomas Carey 2020-10-07T01:43:57Z

@thomas-carey thanks for the insight! That's a really smart way of handling it!

Cosmic Time-Out by nratcliff 2021-10-14T01:41:40Z

While I enjoyed the graphics and sound design I think the Unity physics engine made the game really annoying to play. I couldn't really find rhyme or reason behind why sometimes my haphazard creation would spaz into oblivion and be destroyed. It said to use Space to go up / down but that didn't really seem to do anything. Everything else about the game was top notch, the visuals and audio complimented each other really well and the animations were absolutely adorable. If gameplay were to be polished up a bit in the future I could see this being a really popular casual puzzle game.

Potion Master by Pete 2021-10-18T01:16:24Z

I really liked the juice that this game had. The screen shake, impacts, and effects were all on point. I would really love to see this game with some audio. Maybe making the different colored orbs make different music note sounds could be really cool!

The Mines by Izzo 2021-10-18T01:37:22Z

The visuals were really cool but the rock textures stretched weirdly when broken. It was really easy to see which walls I was supposed to break but the ghost enemies were really tough and often spawned right on top of me. Good work with the visuals and the shaders on the ghosts!

Cro-Mathnon by PeachTreeOath 2021-10-08T23:23:49Z

I really like how you implemented the theme on this one. The level being unstable worked amazingly and it felt really unstable too. Even your current equation is unstable because one slip into the water means you're thrown into the air, scooping up all the symbols you don't want. The async multiplayer component was cool because it wasn't just a faceless AI that would show up with a higher number. It still did feel a bit faceless but definitely better than just an AI. Even though the numbers are just random, the illusion of it is better than nothing. So even though it's multiplayer in the loosest of terms, I feel like it's better than not having it. Simple and effective game, great work!!

Fool's Paradise by ghost-in-the-toast 2021-10-13T04:24:18Z

Cute and amusing entry! I'm surprised that you didn't opt in for humor honestly I thought a lot of the writing and premise was really funny. Solid and innovative work!

Stairway To Heaven by Trooper720 2021-10-14T02:17:55Z

Upgrades are not something you often see in a jam game and they're nice to see here. It felt a bit like a roguelike which was pretty cool, and it was pretty fun to play too. I am so used to pressing Space for jumping though so I hit a ton of enemies because I would instinctively press Space and not J. In game tutorial was helpful, great touch IMO. For the art, a lot of it looked good but a lot of the sprites were at different pixel sizes which made it look a little off. Good work overall!

Meltdown by Roka Josh 2021-10-18T01:06:23Z

This game is super sick! You guys definitely hit a good mark on the gameplay with having to manage your console with simple yet sneakily time consuming tasks. The sounds were simple but I didn't think fit the art style all that well, I expected more dial tone style beeps and tones I guess. The art was simple and effective, but felt inconsistent in some areas which is understandable for a jam game, but despite inconsistencies here and there I really have nothing negative to say about it. Some little animations go a long way for a thing like this so definitely consider those if you continue work on this one. Some small suggestions I have would be to make it so that you can use the arrow keys or A and D to move where you're looking, I didn't really see the point in having the looking be so slow. And lastly, the quit button in the level win screen should probably be moved to the corner or something, I accidentally clicked it when doing the bug squashing game.

Good work on this one I could definitely see it becoming a larger game in the future if you wanted to go for that!

Wobbly Waiter by CG_Fred 2021-10-18T02:21:25Z

The accapella sounds are always calming and the gameplay was fun too! Balancing the bottles on the table was tricky but rewarding. It could have been cool to see a pixel filter thrown over this so that it looked like an old Atari game.

Space Repair by Abdul Zakkar 2021-10-14T01:47:42Z

The art is really cute and I liked the simple animations. The game wasn't too unbalanced either once I got used to it a little bit. Going forward I think it would be cool if maybe the blue ones stole parts from you and attempted to carry them off. And maybe having a rest period to deposit parts would be nice if you wanted to make it more wave based. You have a good start here for sure!

The Three Goblin Problem by pfs 2021-10-18T02:48:25Z

The game was really hard to control at first but once I switched over to gamepad it became a ton easier to control. I would recommend making keyboard a little less sensitive. The music was really nice and the tavern and all that inhabited it looked really good, I just wish I could've looked around in it a little more to see everything. Maybe zooming out would've been nice just to give a better view. The physics were toned down which I think was a good call, it would've been fun to be able to trip the other patrons and watch them ragdoll around though. Overall this was a really solid entry that fits the theme amazingly, great work!

VelociCorp Warehouses by pancelor 2021-10-18T02:00:34Z

Neat little puzzle game with simple but effective art! I'm impressed by how a lot of these puzzles are constructed and a lot of them took me quite a bit to get through lmao.

Unstable by mrosegreen 2021-10-18T02:13:39Z

I liked the interactions of the boxes, it felt like a chemistry kinda sim for sure. Would've been cool if there were more colors that resulted in fires, explosions etc. I also didn't feel like I had much control over my tower so I couldn't really try and make it efficiently just hope that it would work out. The concept is really good and it worked really well!

Shifting Labyrinth by plomeg 2021-10-14T00:45:16Z

I like the idea and thought you executed it pretty well. Not having more of a guide or tutorial I thought was a good move too, it didn't really need one. I got the vibe right off the bat when stuff started to switch around, forced me to think outside the box a little more. Nice work!

New World Disorder by xpoho 2021-10-07T02:15:00Z

Interesting idea. I thought the game would be more specific to Vietnam since the intro focused only on it.

Shroom Dood : the misfortune of the staff by ULDO 2021-10-14T01:08:53Z

Some more direction about the buttons would've been nice but I kinda got the hang of it. I think I ran into a bug where objects would stop floating in air no matter what I did. Would have been neat if there were some more sparks or effects that showed how unstable the wand is at the beginning, maybe at first the objects you carry shake around uncontrollably, just to get more of the broken vibe. I had fun with it and I liked the art, good work!

Tumedus by kuldne kask 2021-10-14T01:29:18Z

I think one thing that makes the game a lot harder is the lack of feedback there is. For combat it's nice to know when you hit your enemy and when your enemy hit you, so maybe some particles and sound effects here and there would really help with that. Also maybe adding a block or a force push ability would help with getting mobbed and not being able to to anything. And my one last bit of advice would be to make sure the player can't be anywhere where they shouldn't be, I got pushed onto the walls or on top of the enemies a few times which was disorienting. The vibe was pretty cool, it reminded me of Gauntlet mixed with DOOM a bit.

Small Kaiju by ArtlessAvian 2021-10-06T14:43:46Z

Very cute little game that reminded me a lot of katamari damacy. It was cool how the sounds got grander as you get bigger and destroyed more stuff. The mix of 2D and 3D was a little weird, I couldn't really tell at first that the big grey building at the end was destructible because I had hit the ground a few times and bounced off so I kinda didn't think to try and destroy it at first. The simplicity really helps this game, so I don't really think you needed the jumping so much, especially since the goal seems to be speed and jumping out to get the trees up on the hill takes a lot of time. Would be cool if you could charge up your tail whip and knock smaller objects into bigger ones to knock them over early. Overall good job on the art, I enjoyed playing it :)

Unstable Gun Fishing by pauljohnprogramming 2021-10-18T02:32:28Z

Seeing the boss consume was a really cool effect! The boss was also super lively which was really great to see too! The boss movement and bullet patterns were really cool and a real challenge. Great work on this one, it's a solid action game!

Nuclear Labs by JoLu Studios 2021-10-07T19:04:29Z

Very fun! The kicking was really satisfying but I wish the game was a little more forgiving overall :P e Could be fun to have some more beginner levels where you only have to defend from one direction instead of all around.

LD50 — Delay the inevitable

Thermal Runaway by TeamMonumental 2022-04-09T06:05:59Z

The visuals of this game were killer! Good vibes all around and the audio was really well put together. It's rare to see full visuals and audio that all work together well like this. My one gripe would be that I wished the character moved a little faster, which is just my preference for FPS games in general :p

One bug I found though was that on repeated playthroughs, the game wouldn't restart after the reactor exploded.

Back2Work by radmccool 2022-04-09T05:27:29Z

The in game graphics looked great as many people have said, hit the nostalgia marker really well. I liked the concept a lot, and it was fun to play, albeit a little clunky on keyboard. My one suggestion would be to change the menus up a bit so that they match the 3D graphics a little more.

The Unfortunate Tale of Mr. Bones by MiltonNH25 2022-04-10T05:23:03Z

A pretty cool game that I caught myself getting addicted to a bit. I have a soft spot for management games so this one was a treat. I kinda wish that I had more options for moving around and dodging enemies, and I had to re press the number keys in order to display the placement colors correctly. Also it would've been nice to be able to open up the shop menu wherever I was, or have an arrow that pointed back to it to help find it again (my sense of direction is garbage so this is a small nitpick). Other than that this was a solid entry that I enjoyed playing.

Market Maker by Roitchie 2022-04-09T05:35:04Z

This game was really intuitive to play. I liked the overall flow, and I found it easy to memorize the cards which made it easy to get into a rhythm with it. I kinda wish the buff cards lasted longer so you could stack them up for combos more, and it seemed like insider trading showed up a lot. Other than that though this was a solid entry that made me think about how the real world is headed for the end ;-;

The Runs by Bytomancer 2022-04-05T19:20:42Z

A really creative entry that I had fun playing through! This game fit the theme so well it's amazing, and it played pretty smoothly as well. I liked the variety of assets and how they were used to create a pretty big level that I had fun exploring.

AIRTIME! by Manny Mallea 2022-04-05T22:58:31Z

I really polished game that was really good all around. I really liked the music and actually found it very fitting to falling to my death. Fit the theme perfectly and was overall pretty enjoyable. Good marks on every category!

Aliens...S by real_flamingicecubegames 2022-04-09T05:53:04Z

The illustrations were cute and the game controlled and played pretty well. It was pretty tough for the most part but was fun overall.

Misfortune in the Galaxy by TarikAF 2022-04-09T05:06:30Z

This was a tight entry overall. The visual style was very distinct and nice, and the game played very smoothly for the most part. Everything was intuitive, and the limited inventory helped give a great sense of urgency. I wasn't able to survive much more than 5 minutes on average, as I could never figure out how to do the pipe section. Not sure if it's a bug or if I am just a bad space engineer :p

TIME by etchell 2022-04-09T05:14:04Z

A nice simple game that really made me wonder what exactly I would be doing if I knew the end of the world was coming. The clock was a very menacing reminder of my impending doom which was pretty neat. I liked the interactables that were scattered around, they were fun to mess around with for a bit :p

Defend the Earth by SeniorWombat 2022-04-09T05:41:24Z

Reminds me of old flash games I used to play before class would start. The artstyle was clean and concise, there weren't a ton of animations but the game didn't really need many. The game was pretty hard but I found that once I got into a bit of a groove I started to have fun trying to survive against the inevitable destruction of the earth.

Magma Climb by Aldebaram 2022-04-10T05:01:22Z

Neat little platformer that unfortunately I am terrible at. The levels generated in ways that made it feel fresh each time which helped. I would have loved to play with a double jump personally.

LD51 — Every 10 seconds

PULSAR by kazuo256 2022-10-05T02:41:08Z

The gameplay was pretty fun once I got the hang of it. I never really found out how to best use the rotator, but that didn't detract from the overall game. Good work :)

Night of the Spook by dxk2294 2022-10-05T06:38:12Z

Great game all around! I had a blast upgrading the different tools and becoming a ghost busting god by the end of my run. I had a ton of fun on each attempt, and the difficulty overall really made the wins I got feel earned. Excellent work.

Echo by caeonosphere 2022-10-06T04:13:39Z

Awesome game! I had a blast playing this, even though I was terrible at it. I loved the main mechanic, and the simple visuals and audio all brought it together into a very enjoyable experience overall.

Cobor goes farming by Douwe_Ravers 2022-10-06T03:54:27Z

This brought me back to the days when I competed in LEGO robotics competitions. I had fun maneuvering the little guy around the field to do complete the tasks. This was really well made and very fun, great work!

BLOODKNIFE : KNIFE OF BLOOD by TomatoLamp 2022-10-08T23:43:18Z

Tackling a 3rd person action game is no easy feat, and I would say you guys did a very good job of it in only 72 hours! I really liked the main mechanic, and it was fun to have upgrades so that my kills actually meant something instead of just clearing out a field.

SPACE KATANA by JoeDev 2022-10-05T05:16:13Z

I really loved this game! All aspects of it were really impressive. The visuals were super clean and complete, and the game was brilliantly simple which made it incredibly easy to pick up and just get going. I kinda wish I got to keep more of my stuff at the end, but I guess that was the point so it hit home :P Well done!

Clocksmith Exorcist by karlestonchew 2022-10-08T23:06:53Z

I really liked getting the hang of the combat system in this one! Definitely the most unique combat I've seen in this jam so far! It was a little finnicky at times but overall I found it pretty fun. I can definitely see this becoming a much larger project in the future if you wanted to.

STORQ3000 by pierogo 2022-10-08T22:59:37Z

I really loved the visuals for this game, not only the designs and scenery but the animations as well! I loved how the flying around looked and felt, and once I got a handle on switching between high and low flight, I had a good amount of fun trying to stay alive. Good work!

Making Connections by PostFrog 2022-10-05T05:09:01Z

Such extensive dialogue for a jam game, well done.

Major Magics by CasualNothing 2022-10-08T21:37:40Z

The level generation was very impressive! When it comes to procedural games, I usually end up getting stuck somewhere, or end up seeing the same layout a bunch of times over, neither of which happened here. I really liked the design of the monster as cyborg corgi (cyborgi?). Good work!

Enter The Black by KoalaNalle 2022-10-09T00:56:34Z

The monsters were cool looking and very intimidating, I really liked the minimalist sound design and the whole presentation was killer.

Timelapse by EtherianX 2022-10-05T02:28:39Z

I enjoyed watching the little trees over time. Very relaxed, chill game.

10 Second Defence by ZLuca 2022-10-05T04:50:35Z

This was a pretty fun little defense game. I liked the art and there was an impressive amount of content for only 3 days, nice work!

LD56 — Tiny Creatures

Space Oyster Mining Company by irwatts 2024-10-24T04:37:03Z

Pretty fun overall! Started out very fast but I quickly got a hang of the button flow and was able to start making my quotas. The sound was a bit loud at the beginning, having a volume slider might be worth looking into next time. Overall good stuff I hope you guys get enough ratings! You've earned em!

Honey Hoard by WubbaDuck 2024-10-11T05:35:26Z

I really liked the design of the bees and just the overall vibe of everything, really reminded me of older RTS games I used to play which was a nice bit of nostalgia. The default volume for everything was really loud tho, next time I might suggest turning it way lower than you think you'll need.

Immunity by Paul Miller 2024-10-24T04:53:11Z

Really liked the art! Reminded me of old flash games I used to play and the games that would come as secret bonus features on DVDs. I couldn't really figure out what to do or how to help so much, but it was cool to observe the different behaviors of the defenders and invaders alike.

LD57 — Depths

The Chase Beneath by Alvaron 2025-04-10T04:23:49Z

Really solid atmosphere. I like many others couldn't find any keys at first but after reading some comments and finding the first one I was able to spot the rest as the game went on. The first scare with the one in the ceiling really got me, and the one that stared me down in front of the door really creeped me out too, really effective but simple behavior that I liked. Ending part was really fun too with how thick the fog was. Lots of good elements here!

BENEATH by Friend_Pirozhok 2025-04-10T05:10:32Z

I totally missed that I needed to activate the towers after getting the lights on top of them lol. But once I got that down it was fun platforming around the different letters and solving their little riddles. The audio was really on point here, the distortion of the music was killer and the whole surreal nature of the graphics really brought it all together. Wish something more involved happened at the end, but I also appreciate the approach you took too. Great work!

Trepth by Quail Weaver 2025-04-10T04:45:30Z

I really liked the depth mechanic, and it was really cool to see other members of my species run around and grab the food right out from under me. Playing termite compared to ant felt pretty busted since there was so much wood everywhere and it didn't block you from jumping down levels. Unlocks didn't work for me I don't think (wanted to play as worm fs), but it was neat nonetheless.

Deep Dive by mhorth 2025-04-10T04:04:34Z

Really loved all the trick animations lmao Trying to pull em off back to back was fun, I always had fun going for one of the longer combos when I was almost out of time to see if I could still squeeze it in.

Into The Mousehole by Baldurs 2025-04-10T08:35:41Z

Screenshot 2025-04-09 232453.png I wanted to push for 2K but I gotta go to bed at some point lmao. I had a lotta fun but I wish there were a few less bullets to deal with, and along with that there was a part of the map I died to a couple times where I didn't break the tiles and couldn't dash through or go back out to go around. Otherwise I had fun and I could definitely see this being expanded onto.

Submerged by TROGDOR 20X6 2025-04-10T05:33:25Z

At first I thought this was just gonna be a cute submarine game but boy was I wrong. I was really surprised by everything at first but it was a pleasant surprise with how everything went, it was really neat to see different sides of the same experience from the different family members. My main critique would have to be that the dash powerup didn't seem to have enough juice a lot of the time, and I had to slam into walls at a certain angle to get through it. Regardless of that though, really cool concept and good execution on it!

Deep Dreamers by Hinamarina 2025-04-10T04:38:03Z

Very cute game, really liked the little flame enemy everything about him was super cool. I kinda wished there was something neat I could do with the girl except just carry her around, maybe a double jump or something woulda been cool idk. Some of the platforms were a bit fast which made the jump timing hard, and I had the same jumping bug on the windows build that others mentioned. I think that bug might be tied to framerate, had my laptop on overclock so it might've been checking to see if I was on the ground right after I tried to jump, especially since the web build didn't have that issue.

Depth of your Thoughts by mauzart 2025-04-10T06:16:47Z

Pretty good bait and switch with the little set piece at the beginning to make the player think they're gonna be doin a lot of walking, but then it gives way to a more introspective mellow experience. Great work for your first step into 3D dev, it can be really tricky at first and it's awesome that you got this submitted for the jam!
