Hey, it's an on-rails shooter! Heh. Pretty neat. Minecart went off the rails and got stuck though.

Hey, it's an on-rails shooter! Heh. Pretty neat. Minecart went off the rails and got stuck though.
Idea seems cool, but i get stuck at the first T split (i think game crashes as i can not shoot anymore either). If you fix it pleas say so and i will give it an another go
Your WebGL version is not working. Itch.io, somehow dont recognise it as playable. You should fix that or remove the link.
Its a bit buggy as sometimes the minecart takes a turn and than ask you for direction, and if you choose a different one it gets stuck. Also the camera is really close zoomed in so that you cannot see the enemies so much. I would go with a wider camera and more enemies. And that the cart takes the turned automatically. So it also fits better to the story :) I liked that you followed a certain pixel art tutorial for the stone that I also followed some time ago :D ! Ah and the sound is to much space shooter, maybe a pickaxe and just a meel dmg thing would be more fitting to the game. But its fun to play :)
Nice little game! Love the simple music + graphics.
Got stuck so couldn't win though :(
Help, I'm stuck at crossroad! No, wait. There's the buttons. Coo' I like the idea of the game and music is pretty funky, I could dance to that.
One of those... bats hit me and I teleported elsewhere. And little after that I got stuck at crossroad, for real. I clicked navigation and nothing happened.
@aterlamia @nicoccino I know there is a bug I need to fix with the bats occasionally pushing you off the track and breaking everything... There is a (admittedly not very visible, Contrast is a thing I forgot about) series of buttons that appear at the top of the screen when you reach junctions that should allow you to choose your path.
@bloham Thank you. I will look at the web build. I didn't test it properly when i submitted.
@masterkrepta no one does xD
First time I see an on rail shooter in LD. A literal one at that ;) Cool game. I don't know if aiming is bugged (some kind of offset) or is it just because I'm constantly moving while shooting.
Nice game! I love 2d games
Really cool idea, love the player perspective (I have a bit of a thing for on-rails shooting) and the art and music are really good! Game is just a little too buggy to be playable honestly. Best strategy seems to be spam shoot enemies off-screen (got lots of gold that way) but spamming click seems to bug out the junctions and I just end up stuck and soft-locked very often. This seems really good tho so congrats!
Nice idea! It might have played a little better if you didn't have a lot of control over where the minecart was going, just to keep the action going a little more. The game got stuck a few times, maybe because I clicked a turning button just before I died?
Aside from what others have said, I also think it would be cool to keep the action moving at the junctions by having the direction just select based on where the character is pointing (e.g. if you're moving up towards a T and pointing the character left, the minecar just goes left instead of waiting for you to click on an arrow). Shooters like this are always fun :)
I like the concept, even if a bit rough around the edges. Feels a bit zoomed in imo, and the crossroads really take you out of the action.
I experienced the same soft-lock that other people are reporting. I also agree that having to stop and pick a direction interrupts the flow of the game, but the rail shooter concept is pretty fun. Nice job overall.
A bit buggy but still fun to play! I like the sfx and tha game mechanics and controls were neat!
Pretty cool idea! I liked the on rails shooting and I liked that you could choose the direction you could go (would have been nice to pick the direction with wasd or arrow keys for quicker gameplay). There were a few game breaking bugs so I couldn't get to the end but I still really enjoyed the mechanics and gameplay, I think there's definitely a lot of potential for a really cool game here!
I really liked the lighting effects too :)
Good job!
Game was cool. Maybe the choice to go in which direction would be cool to do with arrow keys of keyboard, and also the UI was very invisible. There is also a bug that stuck you on the first trail change. Anyway, nice job!
Fun little shooter game. I liked the on-rails style and the currency system. However, it may be wise to make it so that enemies are paused during a transaction.
