I survived!
The unstable theme was supposed to be the mechanic that dug out sections of the tunnel would collapse if you didn't pick up support beams and place them to support the unstable tunnel - unfortunately we were short on time to get that properly working, we're hoping to get that back in as a post jam update.
It's a pretty confusing game and extremly dark. But it's funny on it's way
The game is interesting, but the theme of the jam is not revealed, the music is dull and quickly gets boring, the graphics are of an average level. The game freezes after death, apparently a bug.
Sadly I did not make it out of the mine but I had fun playing. The maze of the mine in the dark, the sound design, and music all set a good mood for the game. It would have been nice to have a little big bigger warning as to when a ghost would pop up, sometimes it felt like they just came out of the wall. I played the game on stream and the VOD should be up for a little while, The Mines Gameplay starts around 1:36:00 https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1172938443
I have to say those ghosts appearing immediately after mining out a block... gave me the creeps a few times -- good job! :ghost:
I also like the initial screen, which is even a bit animated. The sounds are good. The meshes are nice. The (ambient) lighting in the dark would need some work.
I'd increase the camera FOV a bit.
Unfortunately, in several tries I was always killed, so neither I made it out alive :( I guess the difficulty is alright, it is I, who is lame -- good job altogether! :flashlight:
Guys, be sure to play more others' games and leave out comments, otherwise yours is at risk of not being rated (remember you need 20+ ratings)! There's still enough time!
Cool models and animations, a lot of work has been done.
The visuals were really cool but the rock textures stretched weirdly when broken. It was really easy to see which walls I was supposed to break but the ghost enemies were really tough and often spawned right on top of me. Good work with the visuals and the shaders on the ghosts!
I walked in, broke the first rock, then tried to continue to dig. I remade the first rock, then broke it again, then remade it, then re-rebroke it again. I did this until the lantern fuel ran out, then I hit ESC XD. A neat concept though, clear it wasn't given the time to properly get fully fleshed out, but thems the breaks when it comes to these things XD still decent textures and visuals.
Great atmosphere in this game. The sound, the double ticking timers of oxygen and fuel, the constant darkness and danger of the ghost, my heart was beating faster than expected.
Alas, I didn't survive and and unfortunate alt-tab crashed the game for me. It really a cool concept.
I would suggest to add an animation when the player "swing" the pickaxe on the air or on a wall not dig-able. I was confused at the start if my mouse click was working or not.
Good audio and graphics. I like it)
The creature design was top notch and I enjoyed the atmosphere.
The gameplay however was quite dull Abit too slow. I see you were trying to build tension and that's great just make sure the players still have something to strive for. Even text files to find would have went along way.
Great mood and you tackled unreal 4 so good on you.
Now get out there and review some games so you can get a rating!
Very atmoshperic game. Have 2 syncope)) Really like the sound and vibes of this game. Look like SCP in caves)
I like the atmosphere. Audio and graphics are well-done. Cool game!
The audio and the lighting set a nice atmosphere. I did have a ghost spawn right on top of me and pretty much instantly lost. It's a little hard to tell how far you've dug with how the graphics look. Maybe a rock crumbling animation would help?
The game could use a bit more work, but it's decent for a jam.
