How do you beat a level? Hitting the end switch doesn't seem to do anything.

How do you beat a level? Hitting the end switch doesn't seem to do anything.
This takes too long.
Why should I play this when I have so many other otter games?
Why make a game for Occulus Rift for Ludum Dare? (Do most people own one?)
Very good. I like how you have a time limit. It adds desperation to the game.
That was confusing, but I did win!
Did very well with the theme, unlike a lot of games.
Why does he look different in each illustration?
It's only really a screen saver.
I don't like that you have to install it. The graphics are good and so are the controls, but the game is repetitive and there is no consequence to dying. If these were fixed, the game would be much better.
You can't rotate the camera, so often the perspective is difficult, and objects are obscured.
Great game! It's interesting that your past selves are against you instead of for you, like in so many other similar games.
It's really funny, but not much of a game.
It was difficult to understand, so a tutorial or help section would have been useful. Other than that, it was amazing. You did a lot in 72 hours.
Who can argue with Obama?
I downloaded it multiple times, but I can't extract the zip.
I didn't know if I was damaging the final boss at all. Better than a lot of games at LD, and more thematic, but pretty repetitive.
The screen's too big to fit in the browser.
Asteroids sometimes spawn too close to the earth, making it impossible to do anything.
Why does it say "Web" if you download it?
The fact that objects' bound are not as they appear to be makes navigating the maze nigh impossible.
Very well made story-based game. The story followed the theme and was pretty interesting. Well done.
Really bad controls. Why not just use W for jump and have one attack button?
There were multiple instances where the game crashed because it couldn't load graphics.
The fact that you have to rotate the ship makes it difficult. This has nothing to do with the theme.
Couldn't beat the second level.
That was not a game.
It was unsure what exactly made me lose, I hadn't run out of apples. Also, this appears to have ZERO to do with the theme.
Why does it say "Web" if you download it?
This isn't even thematic. The worlds need to be connected.
How do you win?
@ShivaFang: Go to your downloads page and click recover malicious file. I do not know of anything that would cause that, though. Many games on Ludum Dare are reported as such. Please retry and play it, you won't be dissapointed.
@BrainSlugs83: Forgive us about the maximize, it actually isn't supposed to be able to maximize. And there is no sound, that was a joke.
@jprogman: I (James) have not even beat it, but my brother has once. Very well done. I'm proud of you.
@egos: Please explain what you mean by "auto use weapon."
@ShivaFang: We were short on time and just picked the colors we wanted. Forgive us if the game isn't realistic.
@jprogman: Don't we all?
@jprogman: Did you beat every single boss? Due to a mistake in the code, you only have to beat four colored bosses. Did you beat the camel? It was the one I (James) repeatedly died on.
@OinkIguana: Beat enough enemies in a level, and the boss will appear. Beat enough bosses, and the final boss will appear in the white world. (You also have to beat enough enemies in the white world) Beat the final boss to beat the game.
@Stepwise: You use the weapons by pressing Control + a direction. The arrow is a projectile, the ice sword freezes, and other weapons do various other things. The camel is probably the hardest boss. Even I had difficulty on it.
@IsaacL.Balogh: Thank you! The art was done by Dean Yockey, who has a blog at robotsoulscomics.wordpress.com where he makes comics. We were going after the visual style of old roguelikes because we like the visual contrast and simplicity, but we also wanted the characters and monsters to resemble actual beings, instead of being represented by letters.
@dunin: That's odd. It's downloading perfectly for me right now.
@NiceAlexanderAS: Do you have the latest version of .NET? Could you tell us what computer you have? We can't find the issue.
@dunin @NiceAlexanderAS: We've added a MediaFire link, so try that.
@Benjamin: Thank you very much! We were aiming for a megaman feel. You look like you've been in a lot of LDs. Thank you for your compliment. We hope to be able to enter again next time.
The graphics were good, but the controls were difficult, and the stages were badly designed and hard to navigate. Were they randomly generated?
This is the first decent game I've played at LD30. Good work. It would have been better if it was longer. The switching mechanic was very well done, and it was pretty thematic.
Good innovative idea, but often the charged attack won't activate. Also note that the Ludum Dare theme is "Connected Worlds" not "Parallel Worlds."
Good graphics, mood, and audio. However, it didn't have much to do with the theme. I like how the boss fight progressed.
Way too short.
It didn't feel very thematic, but it was very funny. I liked all the humor.
I wish that the game would actually restart when I die, rather than forcing me to refresh the page.
I kept playing it mainly for the story, for some reason. I really like the superhero boss fights. My gripe is that I wish there was a health bar for the bosses, so I could know how close I actually am to beating them. Does their health reset every time I die? I'm honestly really interested in this game, but I only got to level 2. It'd be cool to see what this game could look like with a little more polish.
Great game! What a great idea for a game! I always felt nervous around those cars. It was hard to not run everyone over.
Audio got annoying after a while. The difference between walls and floors could have been a bit more pronounced. It was fun to bump into things as a baby.
Pretty good. The monsters' attack is hard to control though. Even the lowest power sends my guys over the edge.
Very very good. However, I find it strange how people are scared of moving pots and chickens, but don't seem to react when they see a demon. You can walk right past the samurai.
Sound was odd. It was quite repetitive. But oddly cathartic.
Most of the time when I click an enemy, nothing happens.
The greatest enemy in the game is the collision detection, and it's very easy to get stuck so that you can't move anywhere. This prevented me from beating the game. It's sort of funny that you used RPG maker to make something that wasn't really an RPG. But I think that's kind of cool. I felt like I was just wandering around in a maze, and there wasn't much of a point. Also, enemies should go through some sort of animation when they get hit.
A very interesting concept and game. It'd be cool to see how much further you could run with the idea if you had more time. It's pretty choppy, and I wish I could click to advance dialogue.
Pretty simple game, but it's compelling enough.
At first I thought those guys were trying to shoot me, not take pictures of me.
Good title. Your game is not good, though. It lacks sound, there are no special effects when enemies die, it's not very thematic, there's very little difficulty, and very simple level design. Your story is good, but you didn't seem to spend time on much else, other than the background. :(
Kind of lame. It needs sound.
The automatic barfing killed me in the spikes section. :(
Difficulty ramps up quickly.
You're graphics were pretty good, but your screenshots don't reflect that. Your first screenshot seems to have some issues with the monster's outline. I was misled about the quality of the graphics. I thought they were worse than they actually were.
You have to look hard enough.
@Everyone: The cheats we talked about are at the very bottom of the readme.
@MagnesiumNinja: Sorry about the sound effects. We made them by grabbing instruments from our music software and messing with them. This is our first LD game with sound, so we were a bit inexperienced with sound effects.
@Lucho9: Who do you mean, "the skull guy"? Do you mean Pluto, the skull enemies, or the main character? Why don't you like him?
@lucentbeam: Thank you very much. We are amateurs when it comes to sound, so I'm glad we achieved what we were aiming for.
@A_K_: Sorry. We programmed it in C#.
@valid4life: I agree with you.
@Slashee the Cow: Hold shift to run.
@dalbinblue: We made an in-game editor because it made it much easier for us to make the game. It was much easier than coding in every stage. About Pluto and his heart being in a straight line, you are right. It was a mistake. However, Pluto's Heart was the only required item, (although the heart boosts are helpful) so wherever they were, you could beat the game by going straight for the heart, and then straight for Pluto. We could have put the heart and Pluto in more out of the way places, though. About the sound effects, we are amateurs at making sound effects, and didn't really have the right software for it. Thank you for your extensive comment. We're glad you took the time to play the game and give us your feedback.
@euske: Sorry. There's only a bad ending. Thanks for playing our game.
@Atridas: The sound is based off of Windows Media Player, so if your computer doesn't have it, the sound probably won't play. To hear sound, you need Windows Media Player installed on your computer, and we went by the assumption that most people have the program.
@ChaosCult: Thanks. I hope your ears recover soon.
@A Flat Miner Studios: It makes me overjoyed to see that one of the players has finally figured out how to cheat at the game. As for the axe, it was also one of the first sound effects we made, and we all agree it was made poorly. Thanks for playing.
@Eldan_Knight: I'm glad that you discovered that mechanic. You can also knock back projectiles by shooting them.
Good, but a bit imbalanced, it seems, with some costumes being too powerful. Also, you shouldn't be able to ride on the other player's head. There doesn't actually seem to be much strategy.
Unfortunately, I found the mouse controls very unresponsive. This severely hampered the gameplay experience.
It doesn't have enough variety, and the gameplay is more luck than skill, because of how difficult it is to maneuver and avoid getting killed, except for constantly shooting to the right and moving up and down to constantly keep bullets onscreen to kill enemies and protect you from enemy bullets.
Very straightforward. Eatin' babies off a conveyor belt.
Audio was TERRIBLE. The game was a bit repetitive, honestly, and taking out the unmoving ships while avoiding the shooting one was a bit boring. Perhaps if the ships you were trying to get were actually moving targets it would be interesting.
Extremely basic. There isn't really much to the game.
Very good graphics.
I couldn't get past the first area.
It was hard to tell what was solid and what was not.
Too bad you didn't have any music.
I found the key this time, but I still couldn't get through the door.
There's pretty much no repercussions for killing them, and no way to get them back, even when you die. They don't really get chased well.
Pretty much impossible to play. No records of prayers. Impossible to gain faith of outer settlements. Gameplay is very basic, and there seems to be no strategy.
You should be able to move constantly by holding a direction, and not be forced to repeatedly tap directions. It made it very frustrating to play. Movement should be seamless and easy, but in this game it was way too hard.
965790 was my final score. Your game is hilarious. My main problem is that, like in so many shooters, there's no reason not to hold down the fire button forever.
This is not an fps. It's in third person.
Actually very fun. I liked the way different objects had different throwing arcs, but often it seemed that I had way too many rocks and it was hard to have the right weapon at the right time.
Can't see what this has to do at all with the theme. Also, none of the abilities seem very helpful, and it's not very playable, much less beatable. If I understood what the terminals were that I could shoot or hack, and what the drones were, it might help. But nothing makes sense.
I really like the concept of using the dog to attack in the first part. The game didn't make much sense, though, and collision detection was really bad. In general, it was very hard to know what you collided with and what you didn't. Also, fighting enemies was pretty glitchy, and hard to get good hits in, and pretty much impossible to avoid the projectiles.
Very good graphics and sound. Fun, but only one level isn't that much. Interesting concept.
Sound effects were a bit annoying and inconsistent, and it was a bit dull. Just collecting stuff wasn't terribly fun.
"The windshield wipers weren't waxed well, killing the Berensteins instantly."
Presentation is a bit dull, and not much "gameplay" but it's a very funny game.
Great graphics.
Your game is a bit repetitive, though.
When I turned invisible, I never became visible again.
I beat all the enemies I could see, but then I got killed by an invisible guy. I didn't really get where I was supposed to go. It didn't seem very thematic. I'll rate again once I'm on a computer where I can hear the sound.
The music seems overly dramatic.
It makes me feel kind of warm and fuzzy inside to see someone using Scratch for Ludum Dare. It's a bit too glitchy though, and hard to play. If you learn how to use game maker or something, it'll be easier to make a more solid game. Best of luck when it comes to making games.
I'm surprised you made this game in Unreal Engine. That seems like overkill. It needs sound. Good graphics. The shake effect felt a bit too powerful to me. Your game is pretty difficult. Sometimes I would die even when I landed on an enemy. In conclusion, I must say that I absolutely HATE it when games mess with or hide my mouse pointer. It makes me feel very hostile when I lose control of my own computer. \[><]/
This game is actually really fun, but not much like an MMO. It definitely makes me think of pac-man.
It'd be better with sound. Maneuvering around and avoiding the bullets was fun, but it was a bit hard to actually hit things.
I like the graphics, but it's just too dang hard, and I'm not really a puzzle person, so I never finished.
The puzzles seem pretty well thought out, though.
This is a very simple game, but it's such a joy to play, with the wonderful graphics and sound!
I only have a few issues with it . . . When making tight turns as the worm, he gets jagged edges. It looks like you made him out of squares. This just doesn't look as nice.
Also, when flying or swimming, you switch the direction the player goes, but since you can easily go offscreen, it seems weird . . .
Anyways, I love this game!
Wow! The graphics were obviously very good. This is probably the best looking games I've seen for Ludum Dare. Unfortunately, I feel like the game itself is weak in a couple of areas. The explanations feel a little redundant, and the gameplay is far too basic to be engaging. It feels more like a paint-by-numbers than a game. I know the focus was on visuals and sound, which you definitely succeeded at, but the lack of good game play kind of detracts from it . . . :(
Huh. The graphics are really good, but I find it kinda hard to play. The blocks in the background are really confusing. They look just like solid blocks. You should've probably made them lower saturation, and lighter, so it's obvious they'r not solid. Also, the shotgun is way worse than the normal gun. I don't know if this was intentional, like a poison mushroom or something. The last note is that it's pretty hard to get back up if you fall onto a lower platform. I got pretty stuck.
The game ran rather slow for me, and I played the online version, so maybe I should check out the download version . . .
It looks fun, but I didn't see any PC download, and the mall was empty. It didn't seem to work for me online.
Hey! This is a lot of fun! I just wish you had more levels, and the game added new challenges more. Most levels can be beaten with one or two jumps, so they kind of feel the same.
It's a bit difficult for what it is. It's really, really hard to steer. It probably would be funner if it was easier to navigate around and complete the orders. Also, there's so little time to finish the orders. I could only finish one order, and that was after a lot of practice, and starting at the spawning area for the ore, and lining myself up with the wood spawning area, and even then, it was a close call.
Nice graphics, but it's too dang annoying to play. Sorry, but I couldn't finish it. I'd suggest less sensitive controls, (please not mouse controls) and I'd also suggest that the main character is more noticeable. I spent the first minute just trying to find out what and where I was . . .
Found the mouse man! Obviously, this game is pretty short. Is this your first game? Second game? Third game? It would be good if you added a little bit of a description. Like the graphics, but they're a little inconsistent.
Really polished for what it was, but it would have been cool to see some more levels, to get a feel for the gameplay.
Honestly, I found this game pretty disappointing. You've got a funny idea, but it's just not a very fun game. The hit detection is off, and the world doesn't even scroll evenly, leaving gaps between areas. Overall, it needs a lot more polish. Truth be told, though, it doesn't feel original enough.
I wish there were more things I could do to influence the animals, like build fences to change where they go. Overall, a really solid concept, and it would be even better if it had more complexity and interactivity. Maybe you should be able to grow and destroy trees? I wish it didn't have to be in focus to run, because the first 100 seconds can be really dull, before things really start. It'd be cool to see how far you could run with this concept.
I downloaded both the normal and nightmare mode for Windows. In Nightmare mode, the torus was not visible, making play very hard. The normal windows contained a program called "AGG_VIZ" which simply viewed 3D structures.
I would like to play the game shown in the screenshots, but can't. Can you fix this?
@cottontshirtz Thanks. Got it to work! On normal, my high score was about 2900. On nightmare, about 4800. After getting the hang of the way the game works in normal, I found nightmare a bit easier, since you can see all the enemies more easily. My one complaint would be that it gets repetitive. The difficulty doesn't seem to increase. If the difficulty did increase over time, and new enemies spawned (like in Devil Daggers) I think it would be a little more fun.
Good job!
There's not a ton that you can do in this game, and just looking for all the endings isn't the most fun thing. The music and sound is really pretty good, I think. But, it would have been nice if it was easier to understand, as I didn't enjoy typing in random keywords to see what they'd do. With this level of polish, though, I know you can probably improve it a lot, and make a more finished game, if you have the time.
After playing for a while, I didn't see any reason to continue playing . . . Didn't really see much appeal in this game . . . :(
I was honestly really disappointed with this game. For a team so large, you have pretty weak graphics and sound. It isn't explained very well, but I did figure it out. The bigger problem is how dull it is. Because you can only dig one room at a time, you're forced to wait a lot at the beginning. If you could dig multiple, or started with some already dug, that would help ease the monotony a little.
It seems like you've got some good ideas. You just need to make it actually fun.
Honestly, I'm not finding this game very fun. There's no explanation of controls, and no noticeable game progression. I understand this is a parody, but it doesn't feel like much of a game . . .
@dusted We just updated the game, and fixed the loading time. Hopefully, it'll work now.
We used C#. The .exe is small because most of the graphics are stored in the folder with it.
The game has been updated, with a considerably faster loading screen, and other minor bug fixes. If it didn't work so well for you before, try downloading it again! Please.
@firewill I'm glad to hear that. We didn't know about the Planets Suite ourselves until Ludum Dare. We were browsing through classic music we could use, and struck it rich, I guess. If it reminds you of Star Wars, that's because the soundtrack of Star Wars was heavily inspired by the planets. After listening to Uranus over and over, I had to go boot up XWing Vs Tie Fighter, and Star Wars Dark Forces! Ega? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ega https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enhanced_Graphics_Adapter
I had to look it up . . . The pallete isn't anything special. I just chose whatever random colors looked good. If it looks like ega, that's cool, but it wasn't intentional.
I'll try to check out that stream!
I really love the graphics! After figuring the game out, though, it seems a bit easy, and basic. Would be nice if it progressed a bit more.
Woops. Sorry I mashed the publish button . . . :(
Hey, this is pretty funny. Truth is, though, there's not much reason for offensive play. You can sit back, and wait till everyone else kills eachother, then just fight the last one standing. There's no game progression, and it's not deep enough to warrant hours of training, or a spot at evo, so I don't feel like this game warrants a lot of replay.
I won! But only because I discovered that you can double-jump. You should have put something in to explain that. Really pretty fun. You probably already know what you can improve, so I don't feel I need to give you all that. Keep working hard on making games!
It's really unique. I like the graphics. It would be cool if the players looked more different than each other, though. If, for example, some had beards or hair, or different gender or skin, it would probably give your more empathy for the players before they die. I think the fact that it stalemates so often is kind of an issue, but I don't know if time-outs are really the best solution. If players were stunned for longer, or knocked away when the ball was stolen from them, it'd be harder to have the constant back and forth. If they couldn't run through each other as much, that might help, because they seem to clump up a lot. I also feel like the goal zone seems a little small. Often one of my players would be right on top of it, but nothing would happen. Over all, though, I really like the game.
Oh well, there probably weren't THAT many kids on the school bus.
I really wanted to like this game, because I love cartoon art styles in games, but I just couldn't. The art for everything in the game, other than they main character, just felt lazy, and most of the difficulty came from bad controls, and the fact that your character's attack has such a bad hitbox. I feel like I would have rather just played a visual novel with this style, because the gameplay just ended up being frustrating.
I really like the sound effects, and it was really fun. There was a point where my tongue got stuck, so I died because I couldn't grab anyone anymore. I never got past round 7, but it was really fun.
I'm really stuck. I don't know how to progress. I got the ramen, and then microwaved it. I went outside, but there was nothing there. After I went inside, and slept, it told me I couldn't leave without a key. The test person said he wanted to die, but I couldn't kill him. I looked at the fridge, and my bed, and everything, but I couldn't go anywhere.
@chainedlupine Ok. I did definitely find it kinda fun, even just for the novelty of playing it through an emulator. The game seems like it has a lot of potential. I'm definitely interested in seeing what it looks like when it's done.
I got a bad ending. Was it because I accidentally threw away the letter? It was fun, but I really wish there was a fullscreen option.
@no-grapes-games Thank you very much.
@rob-avery Some enemies drop their weapons. If you kill enemies and pick up their limbs, you should be able to go to the flesh merchant, sell your inventory, and buy a weapon.
@sylvie Yeah, you kind of have to grind for limbs, and go back and sell them as often as possible, so you have enough money to buy better stuff. The difficulty curve is probably pretty messed up, and it was hard to balance it well because each individual limb had different health and attack power. You really have to stun-lock enemies, because a lot of them can kill you in one hit if they hit you right. The difficulty curve is probably the thing we'd fix first if we had a chance.
@corbak That happened to me too. The game definitely needs to be rebalanced.
@squirmonkey Unfortunately, there's no way to actually win. We actually switched the music mid development, because it was making us too sad, but we switched back to this one because we thought it was better. Maybe we should have gone with different music . . .
@fireslash Sorry about that.
@johannimations Sorry. You press X to exit the shop. I definitely agree we had too many buttons. Most of them were for handling the inventory system, and if we had more time, we probably would have tried to come up with a more intuitive inventory system that used less buttons. I'm really glad you liked the graphics!
@nihilaleph That's odd. Did it happen immediately, when you started it? From what I've read, though, it might be that you don't have a DirectX runtime. It seems Game Maker games need you to have it for your computer to be able to render shaders. Maybe we should add that to the itch.io page. Anyhow, I'm glad you liked it. We probably should have simplified the controls, and maybe added a back button to the merchant just in case the player doesn't know to use X.
@nihilaleph You actually have to press X twice, once to exit the sub-menu (healing, weapons, or armor), and again to exit the shop. I'll admit it's not very intuitive.
@hpmnk Thank you.
@sun-wukong Well, it takes inspiration from Dororo, but I wouldn't call it an interpretation of Dororo.
It's actually her head that has a hitbox when doing that attack, but we did want our game to have sex appeal.
@peachtreeoath We're not really sure about making a full version. The limb system was definitely the core aspect of the game, that made it unique, but it also created a lot of problems and limitations. We definitely learned a lot from it, though. Thanks!
Her tiddys weren't big enough.
It's hard. I'm not sure what the purpose of having extra eyes is.
Also, when the game resets, after selling an eye, the border stays dark.
I feel like the slow motion and unskippable intro really slow the game down. I really like it, but I wish it didn't have those. Also, sometimes I still lose blood every second, even when it says zero.
Tell us when you get download links up.
Did you make the model during the Jam? The jump seems kind of pointless.
I didn't give the kid my lives. He didn't deserve them.
This game is hard. The graphics are, obviously, fantastic.
I really liked it. The jump physics were really weird, though, and it could be hard to control. The ending was very spooky. I liked the sense of humor.
I couldn't really progress in the game. It was really buggy and confusing. The art and atmosphere were great, but the nonsensical gameplay, and constant pop up messages made it really hard to play.
It was fun and relaxing. I think the interface could get a bit muddled, and I couldn't see my high score past the illustration. I enjoyed playing it.
The art and mood were really nice, but it was hard to find what my goal was supposed to be. I wanted to enjoy it, but it ended up being too confusing.
No sound. I found the game really confusing, and unintuitive. I kinda liked the graphics, but the game just didn't make any sense.
I really liked the humor, but I didn't see how the game had any connection to the theme. It seems you don't actually have to shoot anyone, and can just rush through the levels, ignoring any enemies. I wish I could progress through the game without having my controls messed up by demons, but I guess that's part of the game. I think I liked the dialogue more than anything else.
I wanted to play it, but when I hit "SCOOT," I started hearing sound effects, but was stuck on this screen.
Screenshot.png
I can't really play the game if I can't see anything . . .
Meter Maid is the best waifu. I never knew jaywalking could be so much fun. The game is kind of limited, and probably would have gotten old if you had more levels, but I really liked it, especially the cute graphics. My favorite Ludum Dare game so far!
I'm gonna go lewd Meter Maid.
Did you make the SFX by blowing into the mic? The game felt a bit repetitive, but fun for a bit. I didn't like having to click the scroll wheel in, because on the webpage, it caused it to scroll.
