LD27 — 10 Seconds

TSHIF by rustybroomhandle 2013-08-26T13:33:00

This thing should've been faster, you know it's a lite game, and the gameplay itself is quick while waiting the robot to perform or the game over screen are INCREDIBLY SLOW...
I think if it was faster you'd get from everyone at least one extra star on each category.

Duke Dashington by AdventureIslands 2013-08-26T20:07:00

Not bad at all!!! :)

Clonogram by epicSpeedTurtle 2013-08-26T13:27:00

HAHA this thing is incredibly annoying!
Good game, probably one of the most finished I've seen yet on this LD.

Graveyard Shift by Kortuga 2013-08-26T09:38:00

very nice indeed : )

TimeOut by h8urf8 2013-08-26T20:30:00

Pretty good, the story is pretty good which makes it fun.
The music sometimes don't give the right mood, and the bugs are confusing... but overall pretty good game!

Test Chambers by 0xc0dec 2013-08-26T21:21:00

Don't know why: it just won't work, the input system just not working, everything seems to be ok just not responding (tried both web and windows, wierd)

Routine decisions (in 10 seconds) by Yozz 2013-08-26T09:22:00

Y BUGS Y?

1 AM by Soundboy 2013-08-26T11:05:00

A second begins:
OMG THIS IS SO GOOD T_T!!!
WONDERFUL WRITTING!
The idea seemed a bit pretentious at the beginning but then you find that your writting is just epic!
A second ends T_T !

1 AM by Soundboy 2013-08-26T11:17:00

Just one more thing:
Is it me or just like in real life no matter what you say you lose her ? XD Y is this so realistic T_T
Haha good job, try write some more! maybe publish a book one day no kidding, it was a flowing story not too heavy but flowingly moving from lite to heavy it was fantastic <3 it !

1 AM by Soundboy 2013-08-26T17:01:00

PaperBlurt: You might be right, but in a game making jam you don't expact to find a pretty well writen story, I mean the story itself might be banal but the way the story is told is quiet good!

You might not believe me but this far this is my favourite entry and it got some damn good score!

1 AM by Soundboy 2013-08-26T17:04:00

LOL now I found the story is kinda real, so no way it's banal, but hi I was right about the fact that it was realistic :D

1 AM by Soundboy 2013-08-26T17:06:00

Brilliant!

Jump Drive by smotko 2013-09-09T07:03:00

HAHA HILARIOUS!

10 secoonds to boom by Adroitboss 2013-08-31T08:30:00

It was nice but the answer is always the left monster and this make the game suck.
One more problem: the movment isn't so comfortable.

GIMP the Tapedeck-Operated Robot by Zuige 2013-08-26T13:07:00

Pretty nice :)

The Necromancer by sam1373 2013-08-26T11:29:00

Haha like this genere, pretty sweet for 48 hours and using C++ and opengl makes it even sweeter :)
Good job!

10Secs by g_o 2013-08-26T11:32:00

Zuige: That's wierd : / I should have done more tests
I did try to make the right mood and forgot to fix bugs and add more levels. I am sorry, I wish I could fix it now.
Did you try the zip version or the Installation?
Thanks for playing
rustybroomhandle - Thanks :)

@Thepattybeast:
try the installation, do NOT run from the cmd.
try compatibility mode.
if all fails I'll give you a windowed version.

10Secs by g_o 2013-08-26T20:41:00

OH and please first extract the game to some folder and don't try play it from the zip, so I could minimize the possible options for the problem.

10Secs by g_o 2013-08-28T12:15:00

@Sh1rogane: Thank you so much
Jupiter_Hadley: I AM GOING TO MAKE A WINDOWED VERSION WITH NO EXTRA CODES OF COURSE JUST TRANSFORMING EVERYTHING TO A WINDOW!
@TobiasW: THANK YOU SO MUCH MAN!
I think the game closed silently because you failed 3 times
I'm sorry that there is no message about that! I just wrote it on the game over screen.
@Kargnir - Graphic bugs are about to get fixed thanks to the Windowed version I will release today.

10Secs by g_o 2013-08-29T11:14:00

WINDOWED VERSION UPLOADED! I HOPE IT WOULD FIX THE BUGS!

10Secs by g_o 2013-08-30T21:09:00

namrog84: Thank you. totally agree about the movement, I had no time fixing bugs like : the enemies don't animate for some reason and the animation of the player sometimes has glitches...

:( Sorry I'll try.

Very nice, great idea!

Hurry UP! by Sense 2013-09-03T16:13:00

Pretty cool though music is a bit annoying, and the collision system isn't pretty good it's like she stops in a pretty noticeable distance that's annoying. (like she hit the platform from the side)

Don't let Them Hug you! by Jicken 2013-08-26T12:24:00

Haha this game is funny P: Liked the fact that it is simple yet pretty funny to play

Return to Diamond Castle by reostra 2013-09-08T20:56:00

Pretty nice game

Realities by frameland 2013-09-09T06:53:00

Hmmm this "game" doesn't have much in it, nor interactively and nor plotly... I just don't know what to say about it.
Though, it is very polished!

High Jumper by GVmakesGames 2013-09-03T15:57:00

Srry dude couldn't give you a high score but pretty nice game for the 48 entry :D

Every Ten Seconds A Kitten Drowns by matthias_zarzecki 2013-08-26T09:15:00

In game instructions could have been nice :D

Dark Interval by alexandervrs 2013-09-03T16:09:00

Nice idea, but I don't think it's well enough for a Jam entry, also the script is kinda dull ( and I usually make some horribly dull scripts, but this one was kinda nonsense... )
You could have done better

The only one by JaJ 2013-08-26T20:02:00

A very very good game, though it's a bit hard, you need some time to solve it. (Don't worry I graded your game as awsome , as it is).
Fantastic mood.

10 seconds to run by Danvil 2013-09-03T21:21:00

The gameplay was so awsome that I forgot about the annoying fact that there was no music, the problem is that the controls aren't really good and it's disturbing in a game like this where the graphic is nice (not fantastic on effects such as in the game over screen) and it's the only thing that bugs me.

LD30 — Connected Worlds

Convergence by Pheonise 2014-08-25T15:03:00

OMG That was brilliant!
And only 48 hours making it!
Reminded me of a superb game called "Antechamber"
and luckily I'm a big fan of Antechamber so your game just
earned my first 5/5.
BTW: awesome voice acting and mood!

Elite Smuggler by JosephLittle 2014-08-25T12:45:00

Unfortunately I suck at this already hard to play game
the controls are just so hard !
Too bad you don't have sound could've been kinda cool

Connected Worlds by rjhunter 2014-08-25T22:12:00

Crashes in chrome ...

First Encounter by Ysty 2014-08-26T11:01:00

I'm sorry but honestly it's just a bad version of a game
I've seen before.
In LD #27 some guy made a game called "1 AM"
The graphics here are better though, so I gave it a high
rank on graphics but the plot just wasn't satisfying to me.
Here's a link to the game I've talked about
it's holy crap good:
http://www.philome.la/Boundsoy/1-am/play#

Thanks :)
Too bad I think the ending had the best track in the game ^^

Connected Worlds by g_o 2014-08-26T11:27:00

skullum:
Yeah it's kinda wierd but it was meant to be light and funny;
Maybe went a bit too far there lol
About the lasers - yeah that's kind of the point you have
to fold back and jump over or jump the others in order to move against the direction of movement.
If you can't [there are 2 blocking you completely] you just have to let go and it'll pass through you cause I don't want you to get completely out of the world ... :P

Connected Worlds by g_o 2014-08-26T16:40:00

kliance09:
Sorry I thought this stuff was obvious ...
I'm glad someone noticed the turrets joke :P
Srry the music was a bit amplifyed , turning the volume down fixes it.
Yeah I agree; it is strange haha
hope you still enjoyed it =)

Connected Worlds by g_o 2014-08-28T20:47:00

slowfrog:
Haha
It's just for having fun ... the plot kinda comes accross the point and relation to the theme but it's mostly a light game - random 3 types of gameplay ... not one type as traditionally seen here XD
So yeah in that regard kind of "pointless", but who said gameplay has to be
consistent? I just wanted to have fun and while I'm doing it maybe giving a "different experience" to the player.
Actually this kind of games are classified as "mindfu*k" or "random" even though it got its plot [IDK if u got it XD] - the way of telling it is abnormal haha
Having some jokes about RPG guide conversations, being hit by a meteor cause why not ? And yeah ... it's not a complex consistent gameplay or traditional game but you shouldn't take everything about this game seriously that's all. [There are some parts you should actually think about, but most of this happens after playing cause I tried to give the game a comedic mood haha]

Connected Worlds by g_o 2014-08-31T09:29:00

Connected Worlds by allenfreese 2014-08-25T20:31:00

It's kinda hard it accelerates aburptly.

Transmission by ljdp 2014-08-25T11:27:00

WOW addictive ^^ !
This was fun, I made it to hold on 100% connectivity
The only problems: it lagged when the amount of connections went a bit big; which is kinda akward cause I don't think the calculations on this game are heavy..
But yeah, I liked the fact that at some point some are colliding and so you lose some sattelites;
The audio was a bit lacking, and the theme wasn't absolutely
fitting, but yeah it was overall pretty fun :)

Frontier by crezefire 2014-08-25T14:32:00

The game isn't running because some dll is missing
I think it's visual studio redistributable ; you should've included it in the zip

Time Warps Inc. by guscost 2014-08-25T12:36:00

Nice entry
I liked the fact that you actually explained some of the mechanics with physics haha
Also nice guitar there;
Though, you might want to simplify the dialog a bit cause
I'm afraid I got stuck at the projectiles throwing lol
[Maybe I wasn't too careful about the dialoug]
Graphics are awesome and overall a good one

BadGameYouShouldNotPlay by thebmxeur 2014-08-25T11:06:00

I liked the idea of using the console;
Kinda shame you sort of gave up on the game,
I think if you'd just make a tutorial screen this could've
been a greate game !
Again - really liked the idea of console so innovation
is 5/5 :)

Connecting Worlds. by Damian Schloter 2014-08-25T12:59:00

Nice, the controls were cool and the graphics were well done
Though the game isn't hard enough I think

Simultaneous by pokeplun 2014-08-25T17:27:00

Nice! I'ts fun and pretty cool for 48 hrs

R-elink: A link between worlds by RaycoSantana 2014-08-25T19:43:00

Great idea, it was kinda boring though.

Merge by vicious_br 2014-08-26T09:36:00

Awesome game;
The music was a bit annoying to my taste cause after all
you hear it over the next 8 minutes or so;
I like that the game mechanics are so simple to program
yet so hard to play!
So I guess it gave you a bunch of time to polish it
it's just an awesome choice of gameplay seriously
a dream of every game developer haha :)

GRAVCOMM by doomista 2014-08-26T10:37:00

Wow! Awesome for a great entry!
I liked the prediction system!
Pretty polished, and kinda fun!
great :)

Dwarf Portals by Barink-social 2014-08-25T19:52:00

doesn't work : "failed to download stuff"

Neon Multiverse by maxrebo 2014-08-26T11:25:00

The web version doesn't work
A great idea but it kinda fell short cause the levels weren't that fun and the flipped g is just confusing cause it's working only when you jump which is wierd cause g should always work...
I think one of the reasons were that the gravity was just too slow.
Still pretty good though

Sunborn: The tale of connected worlds by Windmill Games 2014-08-26T16:46:00

Great graphics and moodl
The gamplay though is a bit boring to me;
But maybe it's just me not liking this genre too much or something cause I haven't played much of these games.

Cubic's Adventure by RikMuld 2014-08-25T16:51:00

Unfortunately I can't see the nerration cause it's off
screen and so I couldn't play it.
Also - it's kinda irretating how slow it types;
and that I have no control during that time.

VENN by OFF 2014-08-25T22:33:00

WOW Awesome game!!!
It was sure fun and really innovative;
The only problem was the theme - I might be dumb for not getting it but I guess if it isn't obvious it isn't well related to the theme enough.
Actually I found it fascinating that my intuition figured out the techinnque/math by itself for example-if you have 2 X you connect them with an imaginery line and then click two points on each side [so the connected points would create a prependicular line to the original]
Doing so also won't have any trouble with the union circle cause the position doesn't matter to a certain degree so you can just disposition your clicks so the black circles won't block it and the union circle will be inside the two circles you clicked.
3 Xs? the technique I figured would be just doing the usual 2 and then clicking so that the position of your cursor connected with the third circle would create a parallel line to the original line with the other two.
- only after level 11/12 I figured out this was mathematically right after seeing it in action and figuring out I did it automatically.
There is only one aspect though you don't really have a fast technique except intuition - timing - in order for the last technique or more complicated cases to work you need to have the right timing. If you do have them - then the techniques should work fine.

VENN by OFF 2014-08-25T22:36:00

Ohh and I frogot to say - awesome ambient music!

In Phase by McFood 2014-08-25T14:54:00

Nice game, I liked what you did with the theme.
One of the best gameplay-wise, at times I actually got confused with the two and I liked the moving and abnormal geometry (which changes sometimes gravity=awesome); So yeah
it was pretty cool and innovative :P
Only problem is the glitches with the restart but as you said - for a game made 48 hrs I can stand a glitch or two. :)

Between by Majko 2014-08-25T11:38:00

DAT INTRO :P !
The problem was that there was no tutorial, so failing at first seemed kinda unfair, and didn't inspire me to play
again...
The graphics - abolutely gorgeous!
You sure know how to use unity :)
Great entry :)

Chris and Roddy by C_Walden 2014-09-15T19:50:00

The game was fun throwing you straight into the puzzle
Loved the graphics
Actually the only annoying thing was the lack of music.

Worlds Apart by ClownAround 2014-08-26T10:24:00

I liked the game style and graphics.
One of the best entries in that repsect.

Schrodinghost by Carduus 2014-08-29T15:39:00

Pretty nice entry
I liked your use of shredinger's cat
Wasn't that fun but it sure was funny huh
Graphics are great

LD33 — You are the Monster

The adventures of the Squire and the Liar by JonathanG 2015-09-14T21:50:00

Nice entry, pretty hard though XD

Sea invasion by mokujin 2015-08-25T14:11:00

This was unbelievably well done! And the graphics are ridiciously good!

The Much Loved Monster by IndigoWolf 2015-08-24T11:26:00

I like very much the console style.
The game reminded me of 1984 as if it were a batch game and you played the big brother. The writing was nice, but the problem is of course that it doesn't go anywhere you can repeat what you're doing and there are no consequences.

CRT TV by cardboard 2015-08-28T11:34:00

Tht e tap talking was awesome! Nice ideas, pity it didn't go well. The camera was something I could deal with but the controls are just wierd - they're more suitable to joystick rather than keyboard.

Architect Of Terror by Volatile Dove 2015-09-01T11:24:00

Very minimal in its design yet it complements it. Just like in Thomas Was Alone.
Amazing experience, the way you start to feel your power when the red guys do as you say, the way you start punching blue ones for no reason. This is truely well thought and well executed. Brilliant!

Architect Of Terror by Volatile Dove 2015-09-01T11:28:00

Forgot to mention: I L O V E the AI here.
When you get close to blue ones some get scared and turn into blue within seconds. I also like how the game communicates with you without saying anything except the two "speeches" you make.

Edge of Grey by MinionStudios 2015-09-01T11:09:00

About the WebGL - just remove that fuc*ing link already!
Unstable is a very gentle word - I barely loaded it and my chrome stuck my entire computer and then crashed after about a minute.

Tried the web version - great mood but controls were awful, I mean I would click and he would attack like an hour later while the dude kills me. This was awful.
I can barely attack twice before I die!
I'm sure it's a bug but for a jam I'd say this isn't good.
The art and ambience was great though.

Consuminator by Crefossus 2015-08-24T17:06:00

*numnum*anumnum*anumnum* haha
very nice, though some silly stuff happen like - the character is waayyy bigger than the hole but technically the game says it falls to the lava and dies :P

Being a Video Game Monster! by g_o 2015-08-24T12:42:00

@McFood thanks =] !
It's a puzzle platformer so part of the game is figuring out what to do. Telling what to do would ruin it but all I can say is - think about color-mechanics correlation.

Being a Video Game Monster! by g_o 2015-08-24T13:58:00

@raducumiczzz: THANKS, please sit comfortably as I'm rush-fixing it! =]

Being a Video Game Monster! by g_o 2015-08-24T14:24:00

@Flygamer101: Yup I know about the slow parent but you see, at the time I thought doing it I checked out my other scenes and apperantely everytime I want to copy the camera with the logic with it I need to make a linked copy, copy the linked copy so it's a full copy and only then tweak them (at some scenes I didn't want the camera to follow the player). Similar problems poped up with some objects and so when I redesigned levels it blocked the camera view (I think there are still some small traces of that) so you see.. I forogot about it in the sea of bugs, it was luxury, and unfortunately I had no time for luxury until the very last minute so...
Thanks so much for playing :) !

@FloatingGhost: I agree =]
Thanks for playing :)

Being a Video Game Monster! by g_o 2015-08-24T16:05:00

@Josho: that's probably a compatibility issue and pretty much expected from a new microsoft OS. I'd say just run in compatibility mode and it all should work. Hell I ran this on wine with compatibility mode on windows 8 that's why I'm pretty sure it works =]

Being a Video Game Monster! by g_o 2015-08-25T10:16:00

@cardboard: YOU GOT IT! that's OK this was the final level!
You figured it out! The truth is that you had to get really close to the house and time your jump according to his shooting rate such that you have 3 jumps (since you die in the fourth). The house had inside it a text that said "Thanks for playing" :)
About the camera - I know it's a bit hursh - as said it's due to bugs of the last minute so I hadn't had time to smooth it.
About the controls - I agree they are cluncky a bit. You need to press Space and only then move. Once again had no time due to polish the game in that respect.

Being a Video Game Monster! by g_o 2015-08-25T14:00:00

@Mimus: that's OK :)
though I'd be glad to know why =]

@tmpxyz: Indeed! thanks for the appreciation! It's totally a neglected engine which made it hard to get hold of it - like the lack of documentation and tutorials.

@YerghaizVerot: OH actually I already did - I indeed liked the abnormalness of your game =]
Though it has no gameplay in the familiar sense it was funny and I thought it's nice and indeed share the same view as mine. I actually searched deliberately the keywords "game monster" and it turns out that you and I are one of the few to think of this rather than the destructive context, human evilness driven side of the theme.

You are the Monster! by Rothens 2015-08-25T14:06:00

As a jam I think you could really do better.
The good parts of the game were actually the sound and graphics. Also the connection to the theme was clear.

other than that - cool physics!

Little monster's way back to home by BuddaKaeks 2015-08-24T10:23:00

Nice game, the text perspective effect is just awesome!!
Graphics overall are pretty good. The mechanics were a little wierd since the radius of the action was kinda unknown it once changed and in another time it didn't even though the cube was in the same distance, just opposite gravity. Is it a deliberate anti-symmetry or something?
I think the connection to the theme could've be better but it's a nice game.

Meeuw by TomBoogaart 2015-08-24T16:16:00

THIS IS THE MOST UNREALISTIC THING EVER!!!
I MEAN - BIRDS RIDE BICYCLES?!!

Just kidding, but more seriously thats pretty funny haha
I like the graphics and humor.
The most curious thing I'd say is that this LD all the sadists are poping everywhere.. it's almost creepy haha!

Ghosty by zdavid112z 2015-08-24T10:31:00

Nice entry, though I might have missed something - is there a way to die? That's honestly the only problem with this game - what's the point of the time gaining if it never drains? Or maybe it's just hard to make it drain IDK really. Even when I thought I wasted all time while scaring no one nothing happened, I just could restart. Also I don't get the normal mode. It serves no purpose other than getting from place to place to minimize the time but you see - it's really just a bothery thing to do. The worst thing in game design is to make players do the work for you - never bother the player with unneccessery stuff!!!
The graphics, repetitive-but-catchy audio and mood save this game from being horrible. It seriously can become a much better game with such minor changes, so really it's not like its bad bad, but for what it is now it's wrong, but fixable. The theme connection though was crystal clear and I thought of something similar but gave up on the idea. Overall it's nice, but you can tweak it a bit more. See u next LD :)

Orbit by roban101 2015-08-24T12:51:00

Pretty nice entry. The lack of music was noticeable, gotta recommend adding it next time, cause it's a part of the amazing mood the graphics made. So high quality visually, honestly! Especially for a compo.
The only thing that annoyed me was that the circle collision wasn't percise even though it's one of the main mechanics of the game (+it's relatively a simple code). It made me die a couple times. Make sure you don't use integer numbers or something. But except for that - great game design, even if not THAT original it's still well implemented. Well done!

Monster1 by McFood 2015-08-24T13:23:00

Nice game! Reminds me of what portal done in their website with Glados before portal 2 came out.
Story's intriguing too!

This is NOT a scam! by Reccy 2015-08-26T15:39:00

Awesome game! I like that you involved psychology in this thing! You need to recognize the type of person to know how to decieve him.
Though not really a complex gameplay the "levels" are very well written and designed!
Though this is pretty dirty haha XD

Loch Beautiful Ness by thiagofr 2015-08-24T13:30:00

I'm not sure what I've just played...
I think you should make some goal or something to keep the player interested or to give some purpose to the game.
I'd also recommend adding some explanations or illustrations since I didn't know what the hell I am doing haha the area turned green but nothing happened sometimes.

I like the innovation and mood, though kinda annoying to both shoot, read instructions and read the plot.

Village Terrorizer by Flygamer101 2015-08-24T15:01:00

Ladybirds massacre by celisoft 2015-08-30T13:40:00

I'm sorry but the only reason this was challenging was the controls o: !
Left is right and right is left, plus it turns too fast and moves too quickly.
Honestly I felt annoyed but I do get why - using BGE isn't as easy as it seems.

Ladybirds massacre by celisoft 2015-08-31T10:26:00

@celisoft: Surely!
This kind of games are just not my type that's all. I don't like being challenged by the movement & perspective, I do prefer full control.

Blop Avanger by Mimus 2015-08-25T22:38:00

WOW ! BEST GUI I've seen so far in the compo! + There's a settings menu!!!
Also great idea though I believe you maybe could do some more stuff to make the game less repetitive. Still I liked the entire idea - skills and energy bar that takes parts of your body was awesome. Very very good for a 48h compo! WELL DONE!

The Most Boring Game Ever by Romixal 2015-08-25T15:40:00

Superb!

YOU MONSTER!! by XAND 2015-08-24T16:41:00

Very nice!
I think the story wasn't as touching as I'd like it to be (after all the entire game is based around it)
lots of this is sometime the presentation. The plot was wierdly scattered and sort of unrelated enough. Like - what's the connection between his parents, his judgmental-ness and him getting bullied?
It's not as if its entirely unrelated but..
the story implies as if by default all judgmental ppl get bullied or something which is not true, I know lots of judgmental ppl who *bully* others via being judgmental and thus making social problems for *others*. So my point is: it seems as if the game tries to make you assume the worst and also the entire premise was too tragic, to the point it seemed intentional.
Graphics are good.
Theme-wise though it was related though.
P.S: Is it a true story?

You are the Nightmare by petmonkey 2015-08-24T16:49:00

Great graphics on this one!
The movement was linked to my movement I reckoned but what's going on with the firing mechanism?

Am I Evil? by YaaZ 2015-08-29T10:36:00

The graphics are great! Also the audio!
The problem though was that it was slow IDK if it's my computer or the game being too chilled out for this sort of rayman game. I liked the gravity shifts when you move from one area to another, though I didn't really get the point of it all gameplay-wise. Like you punch them and then what?

Blob Basher by Josho 2015-08-24T17:26:00

Vermy The Vomiting Zombie by Gray Sullivan 2015-08-24T10:06:00

I think the idea was great, just wasn't developed to its full potential thus wasn't as fun as it could be.
The graphics and sound are nice though =]

Tales of the Underworld: Rebellion of the Souls by ladybenko 2015-08-24T23:50:00

Even though the mechanics aren't something new or complex, you reminded us all how one should build levels no matter how simple the mecahnics are =]

SAW by Vereos 2015-08-28T22:19:00

Interesting but the main problem was the GUI.
You should've used radio-button so you can pick only one it was exauhsting disabling stuff

SAW by Vereos 2015-09-01T18:09:00

@Vereos:
Why? As far as I can tell this looks like HTML+JQUERY.
Should be simple enough to make those radio-buttons.

Abnormal slime by lolfrad 2015-08-24T13:46:00

"multiball confusion" is a metaphore sung by Aleks Turner for something complex. There is good reason for that - you see with this amount of balls it's honestly hard. Very hard - the entropy is high and expacting what'll happen is hard, it's almost like a freaking brownian motion! And not to mention how hard it is to pin point exactly this thing. You should've made the collision a bit more rough. Just a bit tweaking this stuff and it's a fair game :)

But isn't it YOU are the monster? I feel like there's a twist I yet discovered; still pretty nice entry!

@Vegevan thanks, is it possible that you'll post here a post-compo just for that tiny fix?

Escape The Pyramid ! by Vegevan 2016-08-29T15:34:00

Haha this game is hillarious!
I liked the part where I fell to the pit in the beginning because I thought it was a carpet and then read "This is a death pit."
And the "everything red react only once"
I just LOVE this kind of uh-oh humor!
The soundtrack is great as well! Really sets the funny mood.
Lighting was also awesome
Overall awesome job! I like this entry =)

no problem, it's seriously one of my fav so far this LD.

Roby Robot by lonesurvivor 2016-08-29T16:24:00

Pretty fun game!
I actually played more time than I intended, didn't make it to the end but made lots of progress I think (got the key the brass plate, fixed the thingy still couldn't open the door though, got the saw etc...)

Overall it's a simple game but done in a lovely way, the art was cool the sounds were cool as well.. perhaps a soundtrack would add to it even more.
Great job!

The Fireworker's Apprentice by pressxtoskip 2016-08-29T21:22:00

It's kinda difficult, it isn't as responsive as it should for this kind of timing I think.
I aimed so many times from different angels at the boxes and it would always take the one I'm (probably) more physically closer to rather the one I'm actually pointing my plate towards. It's annoying and kinda ruins the whole game.
But it's cute nonetheless.

KEK NOR KEK by nanimono 2016-08-29T14:43:00

"Walking simulator" XD
Mm nice atmosphere!
Visually I think you've done a pretty great job!
The first thing that popped into my mind is - the character - the hybrid of cubes and human parts work so well why haven't I seen it before? Perhaps I just didn't play games who did something similar but to me it seemed pretty unique. The decompose was also very cool.

I also managed to get the white screen of KEK NOR KEK.
I'm still not sure what the title means but I have some ideas - kek nor kek could be read as:
cake nor cake - nor is the logical operation.
lol nor lol - where kek is slang for lol (related to wow)

eye hil eye - if kek nor kek is a caesar encoding (the repition of kek might hint that it's a word, therefore it's not a total strech).
in some languages hil means killing, perhhaps (eye for an eye?), or it could mean HIL as "Hardware-in-the-loop simulation" but that's totally a strech haha.

Well it could be just bullshit as well xD

Augustan Rogue by purgatory 2016-08-29T10:34:00

Lol the running speed of the AI got freaked out like I was playing DayZ or somethin'

It' really hard game, the absence of music is lacking especially when the game's art is kinda cool and could be complemented well by soundtrack to set the mood.

A tiny "problem" - the AI path finding is... non existant
they just walk straight to you, even if there's a wall and they get stuck.

Search Treasure By Amine Tcherak by Amine Tcherak 2016-09-01T18:29:00

The game looks great, and for a first entry it isn't that bad but just to point out the problematic stuff (and do consider I'm being "hard" with you because you made it with unity)

Well.. it was kinda not playable..
there are two serious bugs and the other aren't too bad but we'll get to that.
First of all the resolution - it seems you checked it only on your resolution cause in mine things get fucked up.
I started off-screen and things were scaled pretty badly.
the second major problem was that I couldn't switch between the bow and axe (or whatever it was)
without getting unarmed which was pretty wierd.
The animation was buggy as well and the shootings as well. (delay, not shooting at all etc)
Then there were enemies with their head not being rendered and all sorts of stuff...
I think perhaps you've got a messy code and that's what made it to that point. My advice - try and keep your code clean and modular. If you'll never cut edges you'll never get situations like this.

Search Treasure By Amine Tcherak by Amine Tcherak 2016-09-01T18:31:00

Just to be clear, my first one was as horrible as this and it was indeed due to slack-coding .
Still accept what I say because I believe if you'll know your tools better you could also save yourselves the struggles I'm sure you've had.
Good luck, still pretty good job!

Aqueducts of Solomon by LoneSpelunker 2016-08-29T10:27:00

I think the rules and goal should be mentioned inside the game

Artefact-O 36 by SamuelSousa 2016-08-29T21:11:00

Asthetic is nice
I personally didn't like what you did there...
It's ambitious and all but isn't intruiging enough to do what it wants to.. I don't know to put it bluntly it's like the game thinks it's impressive when it really isn't as it thinks it is.
I didn't play for very long but that's how I feel.

Artefact-O 36 by SamuelSousa 2016-08-31T19:24:00

@Drury

I agree.
It's kinda proof that it's hard to make clever games which are honestly good. The game shouldn't try to be clever it kinda grows out of the sheer beauty of exploring a thought and only later on realizing and making it a "meta" element in a game.
It's not like this is personal, I try to be honest .. I guess a tiny bit pretentious is the words I tried to avoid.
But indeed it was polished which is something I never get right in the compo. So in no doubt this has the potentiall I just personally don't like it.
The technical skills are there.. the soul is kinda missing

Archimagic by onyon 2016-08-29T16:59:00

You know to stay the hell away from a game when it's description is a proof video of any sort XD

BTW there was a bug that it wouldn't fill up my mana
I think it was because I clicked lots before I had any so it had negative mana or something.

Archimagic by onyon 2016-08-29T17:48:00

@onyon
Nvm I think it was just me being silly - I needed to press W.
I gotta say you made it intentionally annoying! XD
Like - why would I ever want my controls slippery and fully stop with W and then to gain mana also look up with the mouse?! It's like.... just ask me to scroll the mouse wheel up and down to simulate the walking XD

Archimagic by onyon 2016-08-29T18:36:00

@onyon
Haha look, it's just that honestly you've got simple mechanics - it's a dude with mana shooting generic orbs and that's it. (or maybe there's more after a while? didn't play for that long.. it was hard XD)
and the reason for it being intruiging is the sheer difficulty that you caused literally by design.
Now, u'know it's a matter of taste but yup you could as well make a walking simulator where you have to balance the caharacter while walking and then calculate the force the feet will need to apply on the ground in order to move in the velocity you want encoding it in binary with lmb and rmb so that it'll compile an assembly program that would run in the background and feed the rendering engine with a hook.
Or you could try to get to 100% in the original Rayman. Same difficulty btw.

Catapult by g_o 2016-08-29T17:39:00

@Garfeild
Can you please elaborate?
This is really important to me, because I've been told there's something missing here in the polishing department but I'm not quite sure why it was that bad?

I mean I explicitly wrote in the description it's a Tower Defense game.. in most tower defense games there's no real need to aim. That's why there's always auto aim...

So to kind of clear things up:
1. what was problematic with the tutorial? Where did you get stuck?
2. As said, it always auto aims!
3. Are you talking about a health bar? I agree it made the game more difficult but you need to remember this is sorta puzzle game as well. There is a certain way to beat this game, so that it would be possible finantially.
4. NON RESPONSIVE VISUALS?!? What are you talking about?

Please please answer these questions because it's kinda important to me to understand where I fu*k up each LD.

@Vaiaphraim
Thanks for playing and reporting!
Very useful info you're giving me here.

As of level2 - yes it's supposed to be a 2 wave battle.
the chaining - I know I can't say that but I like it too haha this is the pay off for the mechanics I programmed.

I noticed it too and I assumed it was because I didn't position my catapult straight ahead (this is partially my fault because I didn't make it drag n drop) but if it's straight ahead it's wierd and very possibly a bug!
Thanks for reporting!

As of the clearity of starting the level - you're absolutely right!
I can't ignore it - it's just a shitty design! Very sorry for that.
As of the linking mechanism - perhaps I could make a more dynamic GUI but I had a hard time during the compo so having a dynamic GUI seems like a future feature to me, so perhaps in days to come. Good idea non the less, I agree it can't stay like (assuming number of weapons increase, naturally it would).

Yay! I do feel like the work is worth it when you see an epic fight going on as a player - for example for clever chaining, and as a developer - to see the mechanics in action. couldn't be happier =)

I'm sorry the controls are frustrating - I assume you meant the repositioning. Yes drag n drop will come in the future.

About the music - thought of it too!
So I guess I mostly agree with you =)

tnx for this awesome information!

@SamuelSousa
Thanks for answering!
I know I'm asking too much but it seems you're the only one having this problem and it's kinda improtant. First of all - what browser do you use?
And if it isn't too much of an hassle please send a screenshot what you did cause I can't recreate what you're describing (or what I think you're describing)...

@Vaiaphraim
UPDATES:
HAHA as for the vanishing of the Catapult randomly - it isn't vanishing my friend!
You made it out of the screen because you clicked on the right side of it, so it moved right and out of the screen XD
It still exists though, it shoots and all.
Sorry for that.

As for the intro screen - I think it's because I don't preload it. I'll have a progress bar next time.

Your comment is funny cause the answers are in your questions.
It's because you didn't read the "walls of text" that you didn't get past the "menu screens".

You can get clues as to how in the instructions just below the game player in this very page.

@Frozen Fractal
Thanks first of all!

Secondly, about the two catapults - this is the first time I encounter this!
The catapults should not be able to feed anything.
So I have no idea how you have done that! I honestly don't! It's not an option so perhaps it's a compatibility problem with your browser.

And it's also impossible you connected one cutter to both catapults because there's literally only one target variable to feed to!

About the dialog - to make into a more complex, dynamic and most of all GOOD gui it would take lots of work which of course I hadn't time for in 48 hrs.

About being unable to reposition - did the context menu show up?

I'm sorry to say but it seems like your browser really doesn't support at least one thing I do there so it just gives up the rest of the script reading or so it seems because what you're describing is logically impossible in the code...

Thanks for the feedback, I'd be more than happy if you'd try your luck with firefox =)

@SamuelSousa
Sounds like some untaken care of case.
My bet is resizing of the window or something similar.
@The Mad Strauss
I never had problems when positioning the catapults right with hitting the soldiers.
Perhaps you played in strech mode?
As of the boss- kinda heard of people not being able to beat it. I always managed to do so when positioning in front of him and chaining 2 cutters.
Since I had no time to make the positioning drag n drop there could be an extreme case where the positioning difference does not allow you to be in front of the boss.
I assure you the game is beatable.
Thanks for playing =)
Glad you enjoyed!

Wow I really really appreciate the atmosphere on this one!
The mechanics are kinda lacking here, I would've loved to see some gameplay or perhaps what Thomas Was Alone did - a story.
But man the graphics and atmosphere made it all!
I liked the shader as well.
Pretty good job overall for what it is.

But overall pretty solid game, well done :D

Sentinel by Ilseroth 2016-08-29T15:15:00

It's kinda hard for me to believe this was all made by one person! in 48 hours!
Are you a pro in these kind of things?
Like you made 5 Shadow of the Colossus-like games?
And boss fights?
Because you really need to be experienced and incredibly talented to pull this off!

I mean this has snow effects (from the sky to the flying snow piles), aiming mechanism (camera work isn't easy, and actually wasn't perfect in your entry as well), absolutely amazing animations!
Thoroughly impressive, I really want to know a bit behind how you made this (you see, time management in LD is one of the hardests aspects in LD for me).

Sentinel by Ilseroth 2016-08-29T15:17:00

P.S play in the windows version the WebGL is kinda awful performance-wise

Sentinel by Ilseroth 2016-08-29T21:47:00

@Ilseroth
Well then.
It's fuc*ing crazy.
I mean I try to wrap my head around what helped you make it in time.. like - perhaps the grey scale because it spares you the whole texturing and coloring and stuff so you had more time to work on animation and camera. I just don't know.. to be honest for what it seems it looks pretty close (dare I say) to a finished boss scene out of a full, selling game. It's kinda nuts if you really made it 48 hours. You should be proud or.. do it for a living or something haha

The Aztech Trials by mvieira 2016-08-29T14:54:00

That was.. interesing?
It's pretty funny actually, the dramatic music with the minecraft background and the made-up names with the pointless jumper. Really almost a criticism of Temple Run or something, and the endless runner/jumper games (doodle jump etc..)
"I will guarantee that you will reach the top and finish the journey" - hahaha

To criticise it a bit differently - if this was made for that kind of joke well it's fine, but if this is meant to be serious there are design problems here - the inconsistency of colors and color-scheme, for example: blue buttons out of blue (pun intended)
and of course the fact that the background is of minecraft and that there's no real purpose other than reaching the top, and while it could be kinda funny (because I guess it's long) most people want to enjoy the journey more than the final result.
I mean, it's a video game - if you didn't learn anything during the journey at the end you just spent a couple minutes or hours in front of a screen training pointless skills.

The Aztech Trials by mvieira 2016-08-29T20:54:00

@mvieira
Well, you did say that there's an ending.

Powerless by g-o 2017-08-03T16:53:56Z

@ace17 Dude, I obviously would've made a simpler tutorial but I had no time. It was quite gentle when it was in the entry post.. but no one read it! =] So I thought a more striking change and one that doesn't break the rules [by creating launcher] was also in mind. I guess I can't please everyone unfortunately and that's all I can do =]

As of the font - it's in an ariel. I actually quite like this font I don't think anything stylized would work great... it's supposed to be serious looking to have some effects on your mentality when approaching. If you felt unsettled / uncomfortable by the combination of the music and the text it means it's working =D

I'm really glad you enjoyed! Thank you for playing !

Can you please explain just what you meant by "thanks for not using a physics engine :-)"

Powerless by g-o 2017-08-03T22:37:02Z

@ace17 Oh I hear you man =)! Same here, especially because I'm so used to progamming mechanics and engines from scratch, it seemed like there's lotta games that share the same elements just because the popular engines make it REALLY easy for them to make those elements. And then you barely get diversity in indie games sometimes... anything that deviates from that requires programming skills / knowledge of the engine. Same thing with assets (I don't even wanna start about the whole asset-flip issues). But then there's also what you talked about with making engines fit mechanics. Totally an issue for the programmer when making games with engines. Since I'm using my custom engine I'm free to customize my stuff and also I very much don't entangle the mechanics with the engine in any limiting way. My engine supports in full manuality of everything! You can even use merely as a rendering tool etc... Even still engines make great job in allowing freedom, still, with complexity sometimes limitations arrive and are not always trivial. So overall I'd say it's pros and cons and the ones to blame are the 'cheap' market-flooding developers rather than engines. That's just my opinion though.

@bunrun11 Good call on the spacebar!

The keybinding issue is known had no time to change them. You sort of need to press the ctrl, leave it and the move freely.

As of gameplay - yeah I thought of adding sideways attacks but it was already really hard (perhaps I just suck at this haha). Perhaps you had a 5:4 or something, in 16:9 (even with the game scaling down) it's freaking tough! Perhaps it's really something with the scaling system... lots of factors could come in I guess I just gotta test it more =) Thanks for liking the music and for playing =] !

The Music Box by DDRKirbyISQ 2017-08-18T10:11:44Z

A cool little game. The art and mood were great, the audio was ok. The gameplay was a little boring though.. everything was kinda obvious and the plot/story itself wasn't really engaging or believable. For example the book was making stuff up (duh its a different world) but I wasn't immersed and it just sounded silly. Also the fact that the narration has no real explaination to it.. like what is the source of the music box? Who are our characters? They felt pretty generic (their graphics isn't their weak point though) and so on... So I'd say it's quite user-friendly and cool but it can be improved; nonetheless for 72 hours - good job =)

Faade by Ace17 2017-08-03T23:03:46Z

Awesome awesome awesome graphics and mood! Very psychedelic and creepy haha The audio complemented very well =]

As been already said - I think it would be better to give a little more time before it goes really crazy. At 30-40% it becomes really bad and I can't see anything so the game over is effectively pretty soon...

Expectations by thebmxeur 2017-08-05T08:26:33Z

At first I thought it's people around a table and input is trying to call someone.. but then I looked a bit at the source (because I love c++ and btw it looks pretty good!) And in the code the "table" was referred to as "bed" and "visitors" rather than "friends" or something of sorts. Really took me by surprise O-o!

So I THINK it's about a patient that is perhaps about to die and the meter is how well he feels. "A run is between 5 to 10 days." is an interesting evidence to the concept. I don't know if it's possible to stay alive after this time (btw pretty depressive stuff is in the nerrative).

I'm still not 100% sure about the theory but that's what I could gather - for example some letters can be around the bed twice, so it kind of works out with names but then who am I calling when I choose that letter? Kinda tricky, honestly it gets pretty interperative at that point. Don't know if it's what the author meant but that's how abstract this thing gets.

All that is guranteed is that I got A - Z options and that every time I "consume" one option. Didn't notice *direct* influence on mood so I can't say it's feelings or thoughts or something like that. Also "Ask them your questions" sounds like a hint of sorts to go this direction. That's why I went with people.

Well made in terms of mood and suspense =]

The King's Saviour by drtizzle 2017-08-07T17:59:26Z

Rocket Rescue by automatonvx 2017-08-22T08:58:09Z

I liked the music and the mood =] The graphics were cool too!

The gameplay was ok but it got a little frustrating because of the *crazy* delay the jetpack has. You really did say the guy was fat but man! Makes it really difficult to manuver and control the position. Perhpas it's kind of an extra spice to the game? idk but I guess I'm less of a fan in terms of these things..

Still a pretty good entry =]

Sarlacc Dungeon by luthwyhn 2017-08-18T15:46:02Z

I like this! It's so funny and has tiny details like the parallex and the graphics are super carefree and childish in their mood yet somehow captivating =) I'd suggest to increase the rarity of supercharges and the battery so that it would even more epic. Overall it's got it's flaws but I think its unique which is way more than most LD games.

Oh and HUGE props for making it literally from scratch via canvas and vanilla JS! Awesome job!

sunset by peterfsat 2017-07-31T16:08:33Z

Really interesting graphics =] Things that are a little unclear the font - a big no. Took me way too long to realize that character was Z. The interface was kinda hard on me. Maybe I'm the only dummy but it took me a few tries before I realized I could move forward. Starting close to an object would help a lot since all I saw was tiny dots I thought were particle efects XD

Planet Salzex by Dragojt 2017-08-22T09:25:46Z

I liked the graphics! that being said... the resolution somehow is screwed up? I'm on 1650x1050 and it seems that it just cuts of half of the bottom panel. I could still figure it out but was pretty annoying.

Liked tha parallex, added a bit difficulty.

The gameplay itself was fine, but what I REALLY liked was the Game Over comments! aweeeesomme stuff! It adds so much replay value! I was like - alright I think I get the hang of this game.. and then I decided to actually read what it says below the "Game Over".

It read "What if I shoot at my crew?". I was like... "No way!!" and replayed immediately =]! Also it had tips when I tried to run the thing too much to save the battery etc..

Overall nice game, but I really appreciate that feature it's such a cool tiny detail that actually makes the game entirely different!

Nyctophobia by mhaton 2017-08-11T18:26:56Z

Oh wow I see someone here took the entire *mental power* take like me ^^

Great atmosphere I think it's pretty well done! I like that you made the game over go all "again and again..." making you feel the game says its literally unbeatable.

I actually didn't finish it but you said it can be finished and I think I would've finished it with enough time because I do feel like I already memorized some parts of the map. I don't want to ruin that aspect of the game but maybe later versions where you have even more gameplay going on could have a map (discovered only, like Hollow Knight or something).

I LOVED the drakness embrace/chase graphics, feels really creepy and cool =)

Lol you disabled the Graphics rating? It's the best part in this game! The graphics were sooo awesome! And I love japanese styled games! Goo-Boy and the Maw of Darkness by Pandanym 2017-08-02T20:55:40Z

Nice atmosphere! Also I like existentialism so the ending is very much to my liking.

The "puzzle" though... it's not even a puzzle.. the fork in the road so to speak... it was just kinda there.. I can't really put my finger on it but I don't think the level design is that great, that being said the stuff you can make with so little mechanics is also restricting so I'm not sure which is to blame but yeah point is I didn't feel progression at all. I felt like walking aimlessly.. waiting for another bottle to pop up maybe.. Makes the ending appropriate but yeah I want a little more meat in my gameplay usually. I like the sticking to the wall mechanic though.

Graphics were top notch though! and you were quite creative with theme! So really overall Well done!

On Demand: Power by Remus 2017-07-31T12:22:41Z

actually the graphics aren't that bad! Except for the granade/rifle pickups... I mean you had the models XD I wouldn't care seeing you just pick them out without animation :P

Overall it was really fun! The enemies were all same graphics which was kinda funny dunno why but the AI was really nice and fun to play against! I'm not so strong in unity's AI so I don't if it's a lot of work but the outcome was really good. The gunplay itself was awesome! good job

Weaker points were the theme and doing something more innovative but really by itself it's a pretty cute game =]

Down in the Light Mine by gnerkus 2017-07-31T11:37:29Z

Mmm feels a little unfinished but could be really awesome if u had more time.

I liked

* The graphics * you really made great mood with it and showed skill/effort in terms of shaders. * The models were simple but still very appealing and asthetically pleasing. * The mood was great visually.

I kinda disliked

* Unfinished/buggy state [after game over all bars are zeroed but the actual values are fine, I can shoot etc] * lack of instructions - I think the instructions in the post are great, but just one picture saying I need to look for that arrow would go a long way. I was kinda confused at the first attempts at this game, improving this can really increase in orders of magnitude reception. * lack of music - the mood is a little stale without music. It's kinda a shame since visually you did great. * only one level - kinda takes away from the systems you prepared for the game. I really appreciate you made the upgrade system and it kinda bothers me it wasn't really used because there's only one level.

I guess the dislike list looks a bit long but rly I guess it's the time restriction and management to blame for all of this. So if there's a real criticism to take away is that next LD try to time management better. Still - if this is your first [kinda looks like it] I'm sure you've learned a lot! In that regard you did really well - it seem you learned a lot of pieces and implemented them quite well, it's the assembling of all of the components that was lacking.

Good job =]

Pretty cool entry! I think it's very funny, I like the music and the graphics, very creative and amusing =] One thing to note though -mathematically it's really great to move in diagonals since it's the same fuel but longer distance [in orthogonal 2d: sqrt(x^2 + y^2)]. Except for this imbalance it's a cool little entry :D

STRATOS-RZ1 by matevt 2017-07-31T13:02:27Z

Great visuals!

@oxrock I kinda disagree I think the mechanics are fine; the POWER needed a rework though. It was decreasing faster as it sped up too closely to the speed (I'd not be surprised if it's linear) it you don't have the risk/reward factor anymore since you are forced to take greens and only once in a long time you can really consider takinga blue. I'd nerf it a little and maybe set it constant because you have to remember that when you get faster it's also easier to miss the balls / drive badly. Kinda make the difficulty curve really crazy!

BTW - I had some really sad moment lol.png

It feels quite unfinished.. all sort of bugs like the highlighted cube getting knocked while I'm miles away Also steering is uncomfortable.. is it accelerating? Usually use constant rate of angular velocity. Keep the good work though =]

Nice entry! It actually became quite difficult pretty quickly =]

Smash ball by Sivael 2017-07-31T19:58:01Z

Oddly satisfying indeed, and sorta no-brainer as well.. It's like a weird rage therapy or something XD

For some reason the frame rate dropped after a certain point to downright unplayable. My guess is the amount of entities. Now my computer is kinda old but I don't think it's THAT old, it still runs Crysis 2 for example just fine. Except for that graphics were actually quite nice.

@sivael Yeah I guessed as much I did try but it wasn't easy to get all the little ones.. and the map didnt feel small after collecting so much haha It was really a task.. I felt like garbage collector :p

I think making this a little more efficient could go a long way. Maybe calculating physics of those nearby only and compensating for the others later? Definitely something creative has to be done if you want to keep the pieces moving even after they turn blue.

@sivael Awesome job! Now I can keep on smashing stuff ^^ Srry took so long I really wish the tagging system actually did something..

Nice little game, pretty straight forward though. I think the graphics were great and the soundtrack too. A little weird to play it in fixed width (rest filled with black) but still pretty cool.

THE LIGHT TRAPPER by TRIGONOMETRIC GAMES 2017-08-01T18:36:05Z

That banner is the most well designed low self-esteem banner I've seen XD I'll tell you what, it's nice for a first =] Graphics were pretty pleasing and the power bar was surprisingly smooth =]

Things to consider though - no game restart when falling (a simple invisible floor trigerring death would be enough). I had to walk a little (on thin air) to exhaust power to restart. Also a little weird design choice having the teleport all of a sudden, could be more challenging to make puzzles with it rather than using it as linear progression [even though the game's short].

I don't want you to deep dive of course but still I'd recommend reading about linear progressions and when they're good and when they're a little unnecessary.

I can't explain it but the controls are REALLY GOOD! I don't know if there's parallex to the sky or something but the movement really feels good. I also like how funny this game is, when he has no feathers on it looks like he's dancing and a force is pushing him to the direction he points to haha and with the music idk man it made me laugh. Oh yeah the music was great too; good take on the theme; good job overall =]
