I can't get it to run. It crashed firefox once, and Unity has never finished loading. I'll try again later, but you might want to check that

minionstudios 2015-08-25 04:37

Yeah we are gonna have a new build for this page soon, the java is all messed up here. Meanwhile... Try the web or windows build! OK time to finally get some sleep. Zzzzzzz

jannesn 2015-08-25 17:44

Seems like a dark souls inspired game to me!
Great work. Nice graphics. Only a bit slow.

aberdeenphoenix 2015-08-25 17:44

No Audio? Anyway, this is interesting. I like exploring the castle.

The player just moves so slowly, though! It tries my patience.

zenmumbler 2015-08-25 17:45

Atmosphere is nice, not sure why audio voting is enabled as I don't hear anything. The room name interstitials are a nice touch, but um… how do I get past the first axe-slugging guy? My guy seems to limply poke his sword at him but I bite it every time.

radmars 2015-08-25 19:17

The atmosphere is really good this game! It feels just about right for the tone and style. I really dig the environment design as well. The player movement & mechanics could use a good spit-shine though. I think quickening up the player attack animations, as well as adding some visual / audio feedback for when your player or an enemy is hit with your attacks will go a long way! Nice entry, keep it up! :D

conormn 2015-08-25 23:23

A little loose on the theme, but I was really digging this. The slow heavy movements felt very good to me. I hope you keep going with this guy. Also the are was rad :)

odefus 2015-08-25 23:39

I like the aesthetic of the game and just exploring the castle is interesting enough. Definitely some Dark Souls vibes going on there.

I can see where you were going with the combat, but unfortunately the combat mechanics seem a bit all over the place, which makes the combat feel unresponsive. Some audio or visual feedback upon taking and delivering damage would probably go a long way in improving the feel of it.

minionstudios 2015-08-26 01:47

Thanks for the comments! Our combat was ambitious and didn't get as much time as we wanted... So we are going to get a post-comp version ready and might make a much larger version! You all rock!

sicilica 2015-08-26 03:17

The audio worked fine for me, in spite of a lot of people saying it didn't work for them. In fact, I thought it fit the mood really perfectly.

Blends Dark Souls and maybe some Prince of Persia. Unfortunately, the combat felt really stale compared to Souls - the enemies just rapidly loop an attack, and blocking/dodging isn't really a thing, so it just feels like a DPS war...

The exploration part is fantastic, the combat didn't really work out for me.

rafaella 2015-08-26 04:21

I like this enviroment like old Dark Castle from the 90s, good job.

geckoo1337 2015-08-26 04:47

Really impressive. I like the mood and this typical aesthetic. It's a solid project which is one of my favorites. Thank you for this nice contribution ++

cosmicadventuresquad 2015-08-26 04:51

The movements felt slow and stiff to me. I dig the atmosphere and the size of the explorable area, just wish there was more feedback with attacking and getting attacked. Also is there a way to heal?

minionstudios 2015-08-26 04:56

CosmicAdventureSquad = when you grab mead, cheese or bread out of barrels or chests, use Q to switch to that item and then press F. Boom! healin. Thanks for all the love, we know it's a bit broken, but we're proud of it.

jmschrack 2015-08-26 05:20

[From MGD:Jonathan] I like the old school vibe you got going on, but combat needs a bit fine tuning. I couldn't get past the first guy a few times before I realized that you lose a chunk of stamina every time you click the mouse button, regardless of whether you attack or not. Also the enemies seem to have unlimited stamina. Polish that up and this would be a fairly solid game.

minionstudios 2015-08-26 05:27

totally love the feedback - one tip for the combat: light attack takes less stamina that heavy, but timing a heavy while an enemy is walk towards you and then rolling away is a great tactic.

minionstudios 2015-08-26 05:31

we want to make the combat better (including blocking!) in the next version, but we are considering some multiplayer! who's down for Dark Souls style invasions? Hell yes.

By the way, some of the games we're seeing on this Ludum Dare are absolutely incredible! We are so proud!

handkor 2015-08-26 06:00

Good dark souls feel and immediately recognizable.Good job

xanjos 2015-08-26 14:42

Pretty good entry. I loved the Dark Souls inspired gameplay and aesthetics.

drzanuff 2015-08-26 18:02

I liked the the game vibe, and the art style. But too hard for me, i couldn't grasp the combat mechanics. Work on that, so more people can enjoy your work.

glerikud 2015-08-26 21:33

There are a few problems with this. I played the web version and the text was really small. You should have a controls screen somewhere, 'cause I forgot 1 thing, and when I died, it didn't show it again (yeah thats pretty minor though). There were a few bugs too, the first enemy got stuck on the stairs, and sometimes my attacks didn't work. Other than that this is a very interesting game, with some great writing and story in there, but I find it's not for me :(

glimaleite 2015-08-26 21:38

Uh, I really like the vibe and the looks of the game, but the combat isn't working so well, at least not for me. If I move a bit while swinging the sword, it gets canceled. And there isnt a feedback on the enemy when I hit one. Not sure if I'm making myself clear. But the graphics look really good. I also liked the interface. Good job!

boardtobits 2015-08-26 21:40

Controls felt slow, but the style was very cool. Would love to see more. Also, kudos on embracing the monster vs. trying to refute/empathize with it.

wavegunner232 2015-08-26 21:45

i did not find it fun it had great artwork. Nice shader theme was good but the controls were stiff and VERY VERY BUGGY

shackhal 2015-08-27 05:58

Ok, a game with the Dark Souls game style. I get it. It's popular. The graphics are dark and crude. I like it. It gives a nice gloomy mood. And the music helps too.

But the combat are all over the place. I died fighting the first enemy trying to click fast the attack button. And the roll didn't work...Also the animations are super slow where the game needs to be fast as the player's reactions. So I couldn't explore more of the game. I only guess there are puzzles in the game.

Overall, the game passes. But it needs fixes.

strike 2015-08-27 07:25

Really great atmosphere and art style. Like many people here I found the fighting system a bit confusing at first because of how slow it is, but after getting used to it, everything gets better ;)

ali312 2015-08-27 17:41

Cool game, i remembered my times of NES/Sega:)

uvwar 2015-08-28 03:16

Couldnt get very fair unfortunately. Also at some point I walked through the first door and I was in some kind of spike room with bones and I died I guess? Was that meant to happen? Cool graphics and sound though!

andrei313 2015-08-28 23:33

Nice game. I enjoyed playing a lot.
I didn't really feel like a monster, I felt quite noble, but the game is good.

wooltech 2015-08-29 01:46

Played the Unity Web Player version in Chrome - no audio and right clicking just brought up the context menu.

But. The game itself. Fun, and looks pretty ambitious for a game jam.

01101101 2015-08-29 09:13

Graphics are good, they really set the mood.
The animations could be sped up a couple times though, right now the movements and attacks feel reeeaaaally slow. A flash or a blink when we get hit and when we hit an enemy would be a nice addition as well, just so we get a better feel of what is happening.
Good job anyway, and good luck on that post-jam version!

nihilaleph 2015-08-29 19:07

Great style and atmosphere! Like many, I find the combat still very crude... Some blocking, feedback (perhaps sfx) and flinching would be great! Look forward for the next version!

g_o 2015-09-01 11:09

About the WebGL - just remove that fuc*ing link already!
Unstable is a very gentle word - I barely loaded it and my chrome stuck my entire computer and then crashed after about a minute.

Tried the web version - great mood but controls were awful, I mean I would click and he would attack like an hour later while the dude kills me. This was awful.
I can barely attack twice before I die!
I'm sure it's a bug but for a jam I'd say this isn't good.
The art and ambience was great though.

Biruts 2015-09-01 16:37

Very nice project guys, i really love it, please check our game too and if you liked it give us a vote. Look for Road to hell and enjoy.

jayprog 2015-09-01 19:58

The atmosphere and graphics of this game are top notch. I love how everything looks. You get this really eerie, otherworldly atmosphere going on. I like it! I really didn't like the combat. I felt like no matter what I was going to die. Also, right-clicking in web version is annoying cause it brings up a little window. I think it just needs some more polish and maybe reworking combat a bit to where it's not so clunky and this would be a really solid adventure!

bombjack 2015-09-07 11:02

the graphics are nice.
