not sure how it fit the theme. Liked how the graphics worked, but had difficulty with the controls.

korvexx 2015-08-24 07:27

I like the graphics and the sound effects. I could not get past one of the jumps in the game, so I'm not really sure what the rest of the game looks like.

franklins-ghost 2015-08-24 07:30

Tough game, think it might help if it eased into the difficulty jumps a little bit more cause it took me awhile of playing before I could get past the first area. Liked the minimalist colour palette though, think it helped with the layout of objects when playing and player to focus on the path.

jezz0r 2015-08-24 07:54

Very difficult, but good

superpokeunicorn 2015-08-24 08:01

Man, that was difficult. Still really fun. The music was fantastic <3

insality 2015-08-24 08:44

ok, the game looks fantastic, but this jumps are rly hard
and nice level-design, i like it =)
Good job man

bodsey 2015-08-24 08:50

No way to test on Mac :/

mantlair 2015-08-24 10:26

Man am i doing it wrong? That horizontally moving rectangles were impossible for me. And i actually unlocked The Guy in Super Meat Boy. If you know what it is you will know what kind of a person am i. Are we supposed do go elsewhere befoe going there? I only have the double jump so far. I will rate the game after learning this i wanna see the rest. But music is awesome!

artefale 2015-08-24 10:33

it's a monster ? music greate, sound .. sound dead juste headache. and game it's funny

uthamon 2015-08-24 10:56

Mantlair, it's intended way after double jump and here's a little hint. Key is to just jump down there afer the fastest one goes away, shoot and run away. They stay dead even if You die and also their health doesn't replenish after your death, so it's just a matter of number of tries.

g_o 2015-08-24 11:31

My antivirus dislikes it. It seems like it's unpacking something and got stuck. When I tried to close the process it refused and so Norton deleted it entirely.
If you can make a more native executable I'd be glad to have a zipped version. thanks!

nightshadow0 2015-08-24 15:40

Man, those long jumps are annoying. Got through the first one, but gave up on the double-jump one. I like the artwork and music, though!

mantlair 2015-08-24 21:01

Yeah thanks. I didn't hink we were meant to kill that rects. Anyways, rage quited at HC cause i should spend my time playing more jam games. Sorry for now fnishing the game but it was like The Kid Warp Zone all over the place B). Good game good music. But I think checkpoints should be close to main idea of that part. Like walking to that mini boss each time was `utterly` boring.

Also, what did you except? P)

ferret 2015-08-24 22:41

Really difficult, spent around half an hour trying to get past the part with the balls moving up and down between jumps, most of that time was spent trying to get back there :\

pixelgriffin 2015-08-24 23:08

I think the level design could have led into understanding the controls a bit better. I didn't know anything about the controls until I read the description here. Particularly the ledge jump thing. Still, I really did enjoy the music and color pallet!

orange08 2015-08-24 23:11

I'm not really a fan of pixel perfect platforming challenges... but this was fairly fun, anyway. However, You don't get any points for theme, since this is "utterly not" based on it... if you have to reach the ending to find out how the game ties in with the theme, it's not based on the theme at all in my book.

brainfreezeman 2015-08-24 23:18

The graphics are really charming, like the beige/gray theme. Quite unique color scheme I must say!

The Rainbow Kitten music was good and fit well. The jumping sound effect can be a bit distracting though.

The last jump over the second spike pit was a bit too difficult for me, I did get across it sometimes but it feels like the collision mask might be a bit too pixel-perfect. I would've liked a bit more liberty with where-from I can jump and still make it across.

uthamon 2015-08-24 23:22

Thank You all for feedback. Outside of the jam, I will propably add easier difficulty setting without ''frame perfect'' jumps.

triplefox 2015-08-24 23:23

It's not a fun jump feel. I know people tend to complain a lot about the jump in platformers but that's because the essence of action games is in making the control and the challenges fit together in complementary ways. It's not enough to just have a reflex challenge like the precise long jumps here.

squarepug 2015-08-25 15:55

I really like this, the arcade feel of it is cool. The way you die and it reloads is a simple but wicked effect.

geckojsc 2015-08-26 00:41

My goodness, this game is brutal! The ending was fantastic, made me laugh out loud. x)

The part with the 3 moving blocks was a nightmare even after I figured out what to do. Also I managed to completely miss the breakable wall so got stuck for quite a while backtracking aimlessly.

The deaths were very harsh on the eyes/ears, but fitting for the hardcore nature of the game :)

As for HC mode.... *turns and flees*

strike 2015-08-27 10:25

I really thought this was a troll game at first because of how ridiculously impossible everything is. But actually no.

aevek 2015-08-29 03:46

Love the graphical style, but ended up getting too frustrated at having to repeat segments due to how infrequent the checkpoints are to finish the game, although I did get pretty far through. Solid effort, and challenging in a good way. Good luck in the compo next time. :)

ethteck 2015-08-29 03:53

Got to the first powerup, doubled back, jumped up to the second level, and fell through, accidentally activating the checkpoint right after. That's where my patience ends at the moment. :P

Anyway, well made. Infuriatingly specific jumps, though. Decent sound and graphics, and seems to be pretty polished. Nice!

Aside q: How did you store the map? Is it one giant matrix of tiles?

uthamon 2015-08-29 10:36

Ethteck, since it's small enough, whole game's map is stored in one gamemaker's room.

g_o 2015-08-29 10:44

Nice entry though I would really appreciate checkpoints in this sort of game which is kinda hard. (jump precisions etc)

ultraval 2015-09-12 13:10

Awesome
