LD33 — You are the Monster

Brog The Builder by mungoman1 2015-08-24T23:55:00

Interesting idea. Great lowpoly graphics and a somewhat charming brute of a protagonist hehe!

It seems like it's made to be played in 1080p though, so it's a bit zoomed in on my laptop playing on other resolutions.

I Am the Baby <3 by euske 2015-08-25T01:20:00

This is awesome, Euske. The art is simple but charming and the music gets stuck in your head in a good way. The plot and gameplay are really unique and funny. I love the story of a tech-loving newborn wrecking his/her home and also trying to take over the world, it's great. On a side note, I completed the last level with one second left on the clock! phew

I felt kind of bad when I realized I had to destroy my vacuum-friend the first time, haha!

Colossal Shakedown by wallmasterr 2015-08-24T23:47:00

This game sounds really cool. I don't have a kinect, but I would love to see a gameplay-video if that is possible!
The colossus and the people in that image look really charming

I get some obvious Shadow of the Colossus vibes from the logo, hehe. Always a good game to be inspired by ;D

Safari by Parappa 2015-08-24T23:40:00

It's an interesting take on theme now with all the Cecil stuff. The "crude art" as you called it is kind of charming actually, especially the lion! Makes me think of balloon-animals haha!

The gameplay was a bit confusing though. It would've been really helpful to have a crosshair and do know the range of the gun. A shooting sound effect would be effective too I think. I was never able to hit the lion, but maybe you can't?

Totem by Ian MacLarty 2015-08-26T11:50:00

Wow, I must say this is the prettiest game I've seen on this Ludum Dare. It's got like a Team Ico dreamy paleness to it, I love that. The colors and the mist are great. Music is top-notch as well.

The way the small people get thrown in the air is quite fun and satisfying, but them surrounding you and throwing spears at you feels a bit sad. Like in documentaries when cavemen corner a mammoth or something, altough this "mammoth" is a bit stronger and less caring.

Consuminator by Crefossus 2015-08-26T12:29:00

Black, white and red is always a fun color scheme.
I like the background music too!
I like the concept of eating things to get bigger and puking to get smaller mixed with kind of a endless runner.

Road To Hell by Hyoga-3D 2015-08-25T08:51:00

Awesome graphics, and the movement of the car feels fluid and nice. It would've been nice if you could realize that you were supposed to hit the other cars just from playing the game, but my first idea was to avoid them as I stupidly didn't read the description before trying it out.
Interesting perspective on it, most endless runners seem to be third person now, but this has more of a GTA/Frogger feel and I approve!

Would probably go great on the mobile market with some more polish!

Shadow Creature by Halleflux 2015-08-26T12:25:00

I like how the battles were 3D, pretty great!
Interesting game, almost like a tower defence but with real-time battles you have to be in yourself.

BIG BAD WOLF by allinlabs 2015-08-26T12:12:00

Beautiful game. Quite an interesting physics-based puzzle game, although a bit too hard for my taste. But all the graphics are incredible, love the castles and the way it looks when you zoom out the map. I also really liked the sound when you blew things up, very satisfying!
Interesting take on the Wolf tale too.

Blinky, The Simple Beholder by twistedshield 2015-08-25T08:34:00

Feels a bit slow, which I found unsatisfying. But it's an interesting concept! With some more polish to the gameplay and backstory it could probably turn into a really cool and unique game.

EVILATOR by vividhelix 2015-08-25T08:37:00

The music is quite fitting and the overall game is a really interesting puzzle game!

Monster Truck Rampage by Denis347 2015-08-25T08:44:00

You are the Monster.. Truck, haha, I love it.
Isometric driving games like this are quite nice, and never realized how much we needed a monster truck one!
Personally I feel the truck feels a bit too sluggish, but I like the idea and the choice of music. Quite good for a first game!

WEREDUDE by crazya 2015-08-24T23:42:00

I get a "404: Not Found!" on the itch.io-page, maybe it's not uploaded yet?

Looks like a charming game anyway!

Eye In The Sky by djfariel 2015-08-26T13:07:00

Charming 2D-platformer of destruction, hehe.
Great pixel art and music!

AM I? by DruhinM 2015-08-25T08:28:00

Somewhat classic gameplay, but it works. Art is pretty nice and listening to Death Grips while driving is pretty neat!

Demon Dash by Avalanche Games 2015-08-26T11:30:00

Really fun!
Especially satisfying stomping on people hehe.
Great art and music overall :D

Ghosts by Roboboy 2015-08-25T00:09:00

I like the story you set up in the description, it's pretty cool. You gotta love that hairdo on Blinky too!
Music was fittingly dark too and fit well with the dark red colors.

Would be nice if you had like an arrow that pointed towards pellets or something like that as it was a bit hard to find them. I also think the collision mask on the walls should be a bit bigger as it can be pretty unsatisfying when the sprite goes through the wall a bit, and sometimes get stuck on edges.

Good first entry anyway!

I HATE HALLOWEEN by Vaida 2015-08-26T12:37:00

Nice cutscene, simple but fun gameplay and a really fun boss fight!
I really like how the boss worked, and I also really enjoyed the graphics and the "TV"-filter on it all. It's feels a bit like a mix between Hotline Miami and Altered Beast.

Space Jam by leocardarelli 2015-08-26T12:22:00

Really interesting take on the run-and-avoid concept, running towards the camera.
I love the look of the chimp and the small guys!

Utterly not by uthamon 2015-08-24T23:18:00

The graphics are really charming, like the beige/gray theme. Quite unique color scheme I must say!

The Rainbow Kitten music was good and fit well. The jumping sound effect can be a bit distracting though.

The last jump over the second spike pit was a bit too difficult for me, I did get across it sometimes but it feels like the collision mask might be a bit too pixel-perfect. I would've liked a bit more liberty with where-from I can jump and still make it across.

Futility by Gigaraptor 2015-08-24T23:03:00

The voice acting was pretty fun and the black/white mixed with red blood looks really good!
Some of the sound effects were a bit too loud though, like the artillery.

Interesting idea anyway, there should definitely be more games made about the first world war.

Small People Problems by Brainfreezeman 2015-08-25T00:26:00

@Roboboy: The bomber getting stuck is.. let's call it a feature.

@uvwar: Good job consuming all those people!
We didn't have time to finish the other modes unfortunately. I should clarify that in the description, thanks for the comment!
When you're presented with the time and amount of citizens left, the round is over. You blowing up after shouldn't affect anything. But the monster dies, so maybe in a way the citizens still won? ;)

Small People Problems by Brainfreezeman 2015-08-26T12:39:00

@Ithildin: The citizens were actually inspired by Cyanice and Happiness. Good guess, hehe!

Lifes Decisions by squarepug 2015-08-26T11:38:00

The mood is really nice, with the dialogue and the music. I think I would've liked if you were able to click something when you've finished reading instead of that being decided already. It can be a bit annoying having to wait for the text to disappear I felt.

Interesting 2D Platformer that lets you jump infinitely though, and like I said, the music set a great mood. The Thomas Was Alone inspiration is also pretty obvious, but that's not a bad thing.

Doppelhunger by Meat Us 2015-08-26T12:52:00

Doppelhunger is a fantastic name, haha!
A really fun game and the graphics are incredible.

Dog Guard by cebollinos 2015-08-26T12:32:00

That is one creepy mood, the music and whispering does a lot. Pretty odd game, but not in a bad way. Interesting gameplay mechanic to say the least.

You are the star by Dizzly 2015-08-26T12:16:00

First I just got to say that I really love that main menu music!

Great graphics too, and quite an interesting puzzle game with a fun take on the theme.

Motherflipin' T-Rex! by mantis 2015-08-24T23:32:00

Nice and simple graphics first of all and quite a fun idea overall. Fits the theme well too. The roar attack was quite satisfying in combination with all the blood splatter!
The T-Rex reminded me quite a bit of Rex from Toy Story, it's got great charm!

Complaints: The game moved a bit too fast I felt, it got a tiny bit dizzying. The constant sound effects got a bit grating too and might've contributed to the dizzy feeling.

On another note: The game our team made is somewhat similar, it's also about a giant monster eating people in a 3D environment. Check it out! :D

LazerLock by TeamDromedare 2015-12-14T23:27:00

Incredibly fun multiplayer game!
