Bubble Rancher by recursor 2023-01-11T19:34:59Z
Simple but fun. I like how the bubbles react to force and change shape and color. I also appreciate the self made sound effects :D

Wow, that's kind of depressing. Maybe I just got the bad ending.
Didn't realise, it's supposed to be played on mobile until looking up the comments, really liked the graphics though!
"Monsatan" :D
Didn't know how to complete the game, so I ran around in circles planting & harvesting for about 5 minutes trying to optimize my route... It was fun
In the beginning, i felt the running time put some pressure on me until I realized, there's no pressure at all :D indeed very relaxing!
I really liked the ambient sound. Birds chirping.. very calm and relaxing!
Good game! I like the management style, where you have to make tradeoffs between two choices. It was well balanced, because it's just the choice between what to combine, plant and eat. The turn-based gameplay was well integrated with the calendar!
First round was a bit frustrating, you put in the hard work and walk so slow... You can't keep an eye on all these boxes... Then I noticed, when you're at the tree and hold the mouse button down, you can just walk away, and the apple counter jumps to 50/50! This made it much easier :D
I wonder why no one else mentioned it, but this reminded me of "Midsommar"! Great artstyle!
Nice game and music, I think it's a little too hard for starters. I think spending the initial resources on the wrong items, prevents you from winning later on. At least I lasted for 3 years :D
Overall nice game, didn't really understand how blocks are disappearing. Looked like they just randomly popped away. Liked the amount of content, so many different vegetables, pests and crops, good work!
This game requires some serious multitasking skills! I ended up never planting corn, because they can shoot at you from the distance. It was satisfying, beating the sh*t out of them though. Made me hate veggies now!! Overall good experience!
Great effort, considering you didn't use any engine! I especially liked the animations. Good job!
I like the balistics of the water bullets! It was easy to forget, how far I zoomed in, so I missed, because it was further than I thought, the bullet just DROPPED too much :D Nice game!
Whoop whoop!
You can farm multiple crops at once. For example you can generate cash by farming wheat continuously...
@bowen What did you grow? Note that the "Sumpfkraut" has a malus if planted too close together! If you plant it in rows of 4x1 or 3x1, you should still make profit.
@borderdestroyer @cez02 You can place multiple tiles by drag selection (select crop -> drag fields to place)
@Bowen the weed mission is broken, because harvesting weed, does not produce weed resource. You can only use it to produce cash
@maimai check out the bugfix! Now you can complete the weed mission! The problem was, that harvesting weed, didn't yield weed resource. So it was impossible to win the mission...
Nice game! didn't know how to get anything other than carrots like on the screenshot. All I got from the booster packs, was more carrot seeds. Check out our game, it's actually quite similar. You grind lots of crop. Oh and I also liked the music, it was not annoying :D
Great game, I was surprised to not see more of these games. It's the first thing that comes to mind, thinking of a harvest game. The second level was already too hard for me
Boy is it hard! I just want to peacefully harvest my crops and these f**kers show up throwing rocks at me!! The song is catchy, the leg movement a bit weird. One thing though: I found the game stuck when health went to 0. Is there a way to restart without refreshing the browser?
Nice game, a little too easy when you put all the cannons in the middle, because they can turn instantly and fire all at the closest enemy! Also just 3 waves game over? It was just starting to get fun :(
Why no mouse input though? ...looks fun!
Well done! The graphics are are classic and the 8-bit music is fitting. For me, it was too difficult though! Is there a way to gain extra health? Also the movement is a bit delayed, which adds to the difficulty. Overall ok game!
I took two wrong turns into dead ends and ran out of fuel. There is no 'game over' notification I just got stuck. The atmosphere was very well made though. In the beginning I thought slender man is lurking between the trees and I expected some jumpscare every moment. Also I liked the handmade artstyle!
Great artwork! The controls felt a bit stiff and I accidentally switched positions with objects when I pressed space to quickly because of the fast gameplay. I agree with the others that the board placement should pause the time, so that you get a moment to relax and plan your next move. It gets overwhelming quickly! Apart from that, good game!
A tutorial would be nice. I was too lazy to read the instructions and thought "learning by doing" will do the trick, but not in this game! The artstyle is great and the audio was also nice.
Nice to see fellow top-down shooter! It felt like an inverse bomberman although at some point it was easier to sneak around the enemies than shooting them. Maybe reduce the default walking speed a bit. Also good art & music, overall nice polishing!
Holy shit! This game so close to our entry wtf! Yours looks much more gory and I like the blood splatter. We were thinking about the limited view radius but couldn't make it in time. The full auto shotgun, the fire-rate... Man, feels awesome. Only thing to improve: The levels are a bit empty and could use more variation. Also jealous of the music.. Check out our game, I'm interested what you think about it!
@whysguy52 Yes, that door is supposed to be locked... :/
@anciententity The growing hive should be more of a threat because it should cut off paths as it eats more space. But as it turned out, it was very difficult to script the growth with the players progression. At least to the slow-paced players it should pose a threat :p
@phillips-albright that was my favorite part too ;) @captainzo @mvasko2 @mindhijacker @mvasko2 Thanks for the feedback guys!
Love the arts! But something about the controls is really frustrating: the character always gets in the way when I want to click a cat... Also the cat that needs to take a shit... I never managed to get there in time. Was fun though.
I have to agree with @cat-lab, It is really difficult to predict where a possible way is to get up. By the time the object is visible, it's too late...
Nice music and artwork! The game was very difficult in the beginning. I think you should start with a bit more fuel. Sometimes, when I missed the first gas canister, I didn't get a second one in time. Also making every burn cost the same made it even more difficult because I tried to make the most distance with a single engine burn. Overall very polished game!
Nice music! It was really calm and relaxing. Besides the music it could have some more sound effects. The controls felt good and it was overall pretty polished. Well done!
In the beginning I had a lot of difficulties, not only because I used 'W' to skip through the tutorial text and then immediately crashed, but also because you need very short engine bursts to not waste any fuel. Also the orbits went out of screen very quickly. Once I got the hang of it, it was quite fun though. Steep learning curve!
Overall well made game! It made me very aggressive though, I don't really know why. The point and click cycle under time pressure probably... When the order was like 12 tomatoes, and I hat to pick them one by one and while placing the last one, the first was already cooked...
It took me a while to figure out what I was supposed to do. Also it was not obvious what objects you could interact with and what not. The music was intense!
For the most part of the game, it was enough to just stand still and I wouldn't get hit. Maybe it would be nice for the craters to disappear after a while so you have a chance of surviving longer. The hand coordination was fun though. Or is it a two-player game?
I've played the game and it froze on random occasions (when I moved towards an enemy, when I touched a wall). Apart from that, I attacked some enemies and it showed numbers (damage?) But they never really died. Can they? The fighting mechanics were good though and I liked the highlighted fields that show your attack range. Keep up the effort :)
Does not load on Firefox for some reason :(
Looks quite nice for a jam game!
Awkward sounds :D
I have to agree with the others that the pipe-part was very out of place and frustrating. The controls are really not for this fine grained movement. I fell so many times just because of tapping WASD for a little bit after landing. Besides this, the game is great! The atmosphere and rough texturing is on-spot!
Keep up the good work!
I like the huge world but it lacks a goal I took some shroom photos but I could imagine something like "discover 10 species" or something. Other than that, the graphics style is consistent and I like the atmosphere. Well done!
Awesome game! I think the minimalist artstyle really helped get depth into the story and world building. Classic story that never gets old was realized very well. I agree with @captaindreamcast, starting with chapter 3 was a good move to get the player hooked. The coloring and alarm sounds gave me Nostromo vibes. To disagree with @designernap, if I would have had to collect all the debris, I would have given up as I have low patience. It was a good moment for the egg to appear.
Nice music and visuals. I mostly died because I accelerated too much and went out of the play area. Controls are all in all pretty difficult to handle. Even aiming is hard if the enemy is "half a screen" away. Shooting felt nice though, with nice light effects.
Nice SFX :)
Funny idea, you perfectly captured the whole dog-owning experience with maximum immersion. I would also like to know how you recorded the sounds :D The webGL build worked for me but was laggy when looking up to the horizon. It has something to do with the dark spots on the ground material. When I look at it, it becomes laggy. Don't know if that helps.
Hard game, I didn't manage to finish it. This might make a good multiplayer game where you have to coordinate with your mates or have different roles. Something that confused me: The top left cash counter was way too big and I wondered why the money isn't going up when I mine minerals. Took me too long to notice your inventory is on the right. Maybe add a vehicle/person symbol to each. Apart from that, you could add floating symbols that highlight what the player can interact with. But those are just details. Overall good, polished game!
I like the purple color palette :) I have to agree with the others though, down-left-right I didn't understand in the beginning. Also it was a bit confusing that I respawned without visibly "dying" if you know what I mean.
Nice game! Like the colorful visuals and the warping stars :) One thing that annoyed me: when I started the game it was in windows mode (which is fine) but it was partly outside my screen to I had to figure out how to move it as it is borderless so no mouse dragging possible. But maybe that was just because of my multi screen setup.
I have to agree with @baturinsky, I also could not figure out how the loading mechanism works.
Apart from that great enty!
Nice game! I only completed the first two levels so, judging from the map, there's a lot of content there! As others have stated before, I think the attack range is a bit too short. It was really annoying when I tried to attack the first bug, which was even facing the other direction and taking damage because I got too close. Another problem that I noticed (which was also the reason for me to quit), the game is really laggy sometimes. I assume it is because of the level content/ amount of stuff in the level as the boss fight was super smooth. When I entered the second level though, the FPS dropped to maybe 10 (I'm on Firefox if that info is of any use to you). So it became unplayable for me. Another point of improvement: In the beginning of the second level, there was a ledge to jump from with some death traps below. I couldn't see them because of the limited viewport size so the only way to pass this is dying the first time and knowing next time, which is generally not what you want. Anyway, nice sound and graphics. Also theme is on point ;)
From the name and thumbnail, I expected to defend a planet against incoming asteroids :D
Nice game! Mouse control get's tiresome really fast. I could imagine something like WASD + click/move so you just select the limb you want to control and don't lose the handle all the time.
@yibirabbit007 Thanks a lot! I guess cutting a lot of corners and skipping sleep :)
And many thanks to all of you guys! After some consideration, we decided to add **multiplayer** to the game. We will announce here when it's completed and hope to get some of you to play with us!
Just to be fair about this:
@xvidavi @varenka @wisstopher @katan @yibirabbit007 @x2shadow @tuh @logovostudio @damyyr @wisstopher @danicoredj @eugenik @squashi @lizardinblizzard @beebster-games @pschichtel @agnira @xparker @klausklapper @aquanim
It took a lot longer than expected but here's our multiplayer: https://zhed.itch.io/cold-side
In case anyone is still interested @xvidavi @varenka @wisstopher @katan @yibirabbit007 @x2shadow @tuh @logovostudio @damyyr @wisstopher @danicoredj @eugenik @squashi @lizardinblizzard @beebster-games @pschichtel @agnira @xparker @klausklapper @aquanim
I like the day-night cycle and overall graphics. Not much to play but good effort!
"Files were deleted." :(
As an inpatient person, I had a hard time playing this game the controls are really unforgiving. Apart from that, I like the retro visuals and the overall polish. well done!
Boy, this game was really testing my patience. It took me a while to figure out how the game works (didn't read the description prior to startin ofc). The connecting of the chain takes a bit too long for my taste. Especially if there is a gap near the end, it is really frustrating. The physics are sometimes a bit wonky when I tried to lift a rock that was beneath some logs, they really blew off, destroying my progress. Also once, a stone got stuck inside branch of the "goal log". Besides that, the graphics are beautiful and the music is calming. One more thing: sometimes it was difficult to pick things up because of the mouse cursor. I didn't really know where to click especially on the small green stones.
Keep up the good work!
Funny game! It took me a while to figure out how to punch without getting hit myself. Anyway, punching your political opponent until he changes his vote is peak democracy! Some possible improvements though: - Since it's 3D/2.5D you should give the player a sense of depth because it was not easy to see if I was right next to an opponent or behind it. (maybe give him a shadow or something) - At first, I didn't quite understand when to stop punching as they kept turning red and it seems like they were still taking damage.
Good job!
Nice game! I liked the controls, noticed too late that you can shoot full-auto.. Also, I couldn't figure out how to use the powerups like the apple that's supposed to restore health? Lighting and overall atmosphere are consistent.
Some things to add or improve though: - increase firerate / power when progressing (1 minute in and I felt powerless and were just fleeing) - splash damage attack for big hordes - directional attack that shoots through enemies so that it makes sense to "chain" them
Keep up the good work!
I really like the idea and I guess if I collect all the parts, I can assemble a second robot? The atmosphere is great and the broken skyscrapers all over the place look cool. There are some points you could improve though: - If you have the player walk around for minutes(!) at a time, as a rule of thumb, at least every 10 seconds, something should be happening. Otherwise the player gets bored. Tbh. I didn't finish it and gave up after 5 mins. - The ground floor of the skyscrapers look like you can walk through them but they just block you. - Why even have the slow walk when all you do is sprint anyway? The distances are far too long...
Keep up the good work!
This game was really fun to play! The controls were a bit hard but once you get used to them, it becomes ok. You could maybe have a difficulty setting because I couldn't manage to get to open the second door after 3 attempts (but maybe that's just me being impatient). Sound was also great, did you record it yourself? Things to improve: - balancing difficulty
Good effort!
Great atmosphere! Although it's just the room that is 3D, all the little stories from going out create a vision of a post-apocalyptic world that we know from many movies. I wish I could have investigated the person running out of the supermarket. It seems like you're not all alone. The music was a great addition to the atmosphere, made feel isolated and calm at the same time. Some things you could improve though: Fine tune the camera alignment / view frustum or the players collision so you can't see through things/walls. Also, the first time I played, I started clicking things right after spawning to check what I could interact with and somehow this broke the game as I could not "Go Out" anymore and I had to restart the game. Other than that, great entry!
Great game! The gameloop is fun, I played for 20+ minutes. After buying all the upgrades though, there's no point really to continue. Graphics are good the audio is also fitting. The freezing part was also well done!
Condolences for you loss! In contrast to @eggnisi, I think this is more of a feature than a bug, reminds me of Icy Tower if someone remembers that. If it wasn't for that, I don't think I would have finished the game. If you manage, you can skip multiple platforms in a row.
I like the bamboo walls. A bit disappointing that there's no endless mode.
I like the atmosphere in this game, especially the fog. Is the monster supposed to do anything besides appearing in T-pose and not moving? Apart from that, I couldn't find any relics other than the first one in the camp. All I could find were stones and bones :D
I managed to jump over the pill that tried to push me to the left but when I reached the end at the right side, there was nothing there. What are those light yellor rectangles? Can I interact with them? Feedback: - Add some screenshots and a description. That is the absolute minimum you should do - Highlight objects that you can interact with (if there are any) - The background was nice
Good work!
At first it was a bit disappointing to realize it is a game about guns without shooting guns involved. But, to my surprise, it was quite fun to play. The short timespan doesn't leave much room for decision making unfortunately. Would have loved to figure out the gun value while playing for a bit longer. Maybe you could build an endless mode where you start each round with more cash or something. Anyway, great entry!
Nice artwork. I think, I missed something. The only thing I could interact with were the trashcans (and I tried clicking everything) :/ Anyway, good job!
Same for me, it was super laggy.
@Martingonn I tried all of them: Web, forward and compat. All of them had like 5 FPS maximum. Even my mouse input was not really recognized as I had to click multiple times for a single shot. But at that framerate really hard to tell.
Nice game, like the water drippings sounds in the background and the graphics! The witch was hardcore though, once it locks on to you, you're doomed!
Also are there even 5 potions?? I think I travelled the whole map but only ever found 2 at max. - something to stun the witch would be great - maybe going through doors (not sure if currently possible? (maybe that's where the potions are))
Great job!
Cool game! Super satisfying to watch all the commands getting executed successfully with the relaxing music in the background. Someone clearly has a pentesting background there, reminded me of the good old days playing CTF but without the frustration of staring at the screen for hours without any progress :D
I also couldn't manage to pass the second level but I like the theme and the intro sequence (although a bit long). Only downside I could find: Don't give the character a gun if you can't shoot it. It will only cause disappointment ;)
I normally don't like this type of game but this was fun! Does it make sense to have upgrades when the time is limited to 100secs? I didn't do the maths but I guess there's always one choice that's most efficient unless they're randomized?! Anyway, nice artwork and music (you did make that yourself, did you?))
Nice to see another horror game ;) I like the artstyle, especially the rusty walls and the real-world photographs. Well done! The jumpscares were not really scary and a bit predictable. Anyway, I didn't quite understand the TVs, they didn't do anything or did I miss something?
I can't download it either. Maybe upload it somewhere else.
How about itch.io?
Great game! Clicking deez nuts became a bit tedious after a while but I guess it's just me. When I see them becoming ripe and knowing I couldn't click them all, made me nervous xd. Man, this game is unforgiving... You could give the player more lives maybe. The music is also great! I went to the kitchen while this game was open and the tune was blessing my ears thorugh my bleutooth headset. So calm and relaxing :D
This was probably mentioned before but never use W for jumping and space for anything other than jumping (unless you can't jump at all ofc). Most people play RPGs /FPS's and are used to WASD + SPACE controls. Also you could start with something more easy where you can't directly die, just to get used to the mechanics. Maybe a tutorial level. Anyway, graphics are consistent and not too bad. Good work!
Well done! Lots of tricky jumps that I barely managed. Not bad for your first LD game. Not much to say here. The controls were frustrating but I think it's supposed to be like that.
Weird but funny game. :)
Neat game, I like the color palette and the railroad theme. It wasn't really intuitive though. There was no way to tell what you can click on and what's just decoration. It could use some highlighting of which item is selected.
I couldn't make a train appear and also I couldn't connect the railway to the engine depot like in the screenshot? When I bought a locomotive, nothing happened, no visual feedback. Maybe a bug just me encountered.
The music was a bit unmotivated and too quick to repeat. At this point, it would have been better with no music at all as I turned it off after 30 seconds. Right now it feels like claude-code + 30mins of ms paint. If you invested some time in artwork and polishing, it could make a decent game though!
@vincenthuet @aashen @miclefirst @haoxuan @squimmy @pixel-studios Thanks for the feedback guys! I agree that the recoil while aiming is way too high. We published a bugfix version.
Guys, thanks for the great feedback!
@pixel-studios Valid questions, we planned for the player to not wear a mask but as we ran out of time, we used the one character model that we had and looked decent. @profugo-barbatus Yes, not knowing where you're being shot from is a major problem. We had damage direction indicators high up on the list but didn't manage to complete it in time. When you rest in a shelter, your health will recover after a while. @danibeve The alarm sound before each gas wave is supposed to be the "signal". But true, we haven't made that clear anywhere.
About the lack of details and animation: Creating a first-person shooter with this kind of artstyle was an overly ambitious goal for a gamejam so we had to cut a lot of corners. For example, lowering the weapon during reload was just a trick to save work we would have to spend on a reload animation.
As always, if you set the bar too high, it's your own fault if you can't measure up. Doesn't mean you shouldn't try
Link to HTML5 is dead.
Please provide a Linux build if you can
There's no download link on itch.io. I didn't find a way to play it but judging from the youtube video, it looks like a chill idle game. Do the fish grow when you feed them?
I don't usually play games like this but I must admit, I was hooked! I was looking for some obvious clues to reject people and didn't pay enough attention so everyone was killed. Apparently the clues are way more subtle. One thing that confused me: It always says "click anywhere to close connection" and I thought this was the default, even when you keep people waiting so I accidentally rejected some people...
I was not able to leave the first room. When I went to the door, the voice said, I had finished whatever but no matter what I did, I couldn't open the door and eventually gave up. (I tried pressing E for interact)
Nice game! I liked the color theme and the background music. Couldn't make it past the third test though, Unity crashed upon retrying the test :(
W.T.F. did I just play? :D The captchas were a bit hard, I confused numbers for letters and vice versa..
