Nice game and art! Some fireballs can push the dinosaurs off screen then you can wonder around the screen. After that you can play infinitely :)

For the most part of the game, it was enough to just stand still and I wouldn't get hit. Maybe it would be nice for the craters to disappear after a while so you have a chance of surviving longer. The hand coordination was fun though. Or is it a two-player game?

griddolini 2023-10-06 14:49

I agree with another comment - if the holes disappeared eventually, the game would last a lot longer but still would get harder as the meteors went faster. As of now it feels like an inevitable death in a fairly short time, so not much room to get better. Its super cute though and I like the style and ideas.

Nice concept, cool soundtrack. You should have made the crater walkable after a while otherwise you just get stuck in a small area and wait for a death that does not arrive. Capture d'écran 2023-10-06 164945.png

Nice mechanics with 2 player, its interesting and add to game more harder aspect, i got max score 54425(i just stay with 2 dino in right buttom xD), good game!

Gotta love the dual mode you got there! The artwork is pretty polished i can say and bgm, sfx also fit well. Simple but fun to play. However, the game is still pretty buggy as someone mentioned about it before and the rng should be more uniformly distributed. I think the need for a power-up system or craters lifespan would be some kind of nice features for the game so it could be more balanced. Overall this is a solo project so yeah, impressive!

Thanks everyone for the comments :) The game can be played with 1 or 2 players, pick your poison ahah.

Yep, I didn't get the rng right, bottom right seems like a safe spot. I'll adjust the hitboxes too so the dinos won't be bumped over the edges, and I might tweak the craters to allow passage after a time.

The initial plan was to offer differents levels but eh, time constraints. :'(

Yay, finally found someone else that made a Dino game :D I liked that after a while I had to control a second dino. I get that there was little time, but maybe you can make a post-jam version with different level layouts, which would keep the game interesting to play for longer!

Loved the game! It feels like a nice prototype for what can become a nice couch party game to play with friends.

I figured out that if you stay in the corners the chances of you being hit are quite small

Also blue dino got knocked outside of the ring by a meteor, and then it became immortal.

I think an interesting idea could be meteors having a chance of targeting a player, so people would never be able to just stay still. And cycling which player is the target can be nice for fairness.

The extra dino doesn't really add much to the difficulty if you have the two of them follow each other. Eventually you just get stuck with too many craters.

simonlarsen 2023-10-08 10:19

Nice little game. Unlike some of the other commenters, I think having the holes stay fits the theme better. Having some of the meteors spawn at the player's position (or even trying to predict where the player is going) would help a lot to increase the difficulty. Right now, standing still in a corner seems like the best strategy.

lincolnsalles 2023-10-09 01:49

Well suited to the theme. I found it simple and fun. There is this bug where it can be left off-screen. Later on, the possibility of passing levels could be added instead of just waiting for the moment of death. print.jpg

As others have experienced, I found both my dinosaurs pushed outside the screen and safe from harm. The concept is decent enough, though as things were I barely had to actively dodge incoming meteors, they seem to drop pretty randomly and never did I have anything directly aimed at one of my lil' bois.

The art is cute, the music feels pretty *backgroundy* but it doesn't really suit the vibe, I feel. The meteor impact sounds made me take off my headset after a while, it's pretty abrasive with no variation and once things get going it really started getting on my nerves.

A good concept, but I wish there'd be more to do other than hide.

ryn 2023-10-13 15:52

@flaterectomy Thanks for the input ! :) Maybe you missed my update by a close minute or two, but I fixed the bug with the level boundaries and lowered the impact sound !

I'm currently making some pickups and then I'll do different layouts !

Nice cute game. Love the little dinos, too bad they somehow end up dead. All thoses falling meteors. I though the idea of moving the two dinos with two sets of keys was cool.

aviv-levy 2023-10-13 17:19

Interesting concept! I feel like there should be more to this however, maybe something to pick up, maybe the map getting smaller (or craters not disappearing) after a while, etc.

Controlling two dinos at the same time a was overwhelming for me and would've probably enjoyed this more on multiplayer. Also, at first I could do nothing and not get hit, maybe this needs an adjustment.

Cute graphics & Art!

kizilejderha 2023-10-13 21:13

cool idea, meteors blocking your way connects nicely to the theme. controlling two characters at the same time is quite difficult, if they both had unique abilities that complemented each other it would be super cool (but also super hard to make in 3 days)

Also I noticed some textures are blurry, this is caused by the texture filter. you can set the texture filter from "linear" to "nearest neighbor" for clean pixel art :]
