Great concept! Great art! I think this would make for a great mobile game. I feel like it would benefit from levels instead of an open world design, because it's a very small concept (absolutely not a bad thing) for such a large play arena and such a long day. Could be the next Super Monkey Ball!

Fun game, music matches the theme well. The idea for your game is well implemented and very intuitive. The crashed multiples times on me, but this is still a very solid game.

Amazingly polished game! I really liked exploring the world. Its nicely designed (like you can see what you can do once the powerups are in and then commit to it later) and it looks so goregous. I also feel like perspective from the player hedgehog (who is also super cute <3) being so far down is adding to my curiosity.

What I disliked was the pacing, I wanted to explore and go out but was stressed about coming back too late. It took a lot of time until I was able to "see the world". On the other hand that might be okay if you just want to chill playing the game :)

This is amazing. Excellent art, fun concept, nice controls.... Excellent job all around! I only quit playing after getting stuck in between the logs that make the bridge not too far from Home.

Nice theme, and cool idea to roll around, collecting food by sticking! I think the first 3 days are too easy. There's no reason to travel far, because there's enough food lying close by. Still great!

Really appreciated the level design. There was enough there that was out of reach that really inspired me to keep pushing upgrades. The physics was top notch. The wall clinging was insanely satisfying. Minor nitpick, I wouldn't mind there being a bit more leniency in picking up smaller objects. They can get really tough to grab, even though you're clearly rolling over them.

That being said, I did max out on upgrades. I found secret waterfalls, and climbed them. I climbed the highest summits, found meat treasures other hedgehogs could only dream of, and obtained a mass so large I became one with the universe. Had a great time, good work!

By far the funnest game I have played so far. Feedback: I think the colliders on the fruits/veggies is a bit harsh, think an improvement would be to allow rolling to continue with small bumps and a slow down be the main punishment. Not a huge fan of the fall damage. Love the idea of improved skills allowing for a natural expansion of area to explore. Would be so much fun if there were power ups or maybe fruit/veggies gave you one time power ups, like a hot pepper could give you a speed boost like mushrooms in mario kart. The rolling was so fun, I wanted to roll down a big hill and launch off a huge jump or something. If the project was continued I highly recommend some fun things like loops, tunnels, launchers, catapults, etc. like something you would see in Sonic.

This was really impressive! I had a lot of fun running through the game, it took me by surprise how much bigger the map is than initially seen. Great level design, great art, a lot of fun!

The smile never left my face while playing. What a cute hedgehog! But the fruits were hard to see, I think it would be nice if the fruits had sparkle animation. Thank you for this masterpiece!

I loved playing it! I got a huge and fast hedgehog, I called him red sonic 😂. Great graphics, amazing mechanics and everything is clear! A little nugget ❀ with little elements and funny messages

The environment is very well-thought-out, and nice to navigate. The game has a great gameplay loop, but a little frustrating at times. Overall, an amazing game! Well done!

Super fun! I played this for way too long haha.

Really well designed level with places that were hard to get to without the upgrades.

It was sometimes super fiddly to get stuff to stick - it was a good idea to add the noise when something did.

It was fun! The level design is awesome, I really loved it! Rolling on fruits and not bringing them with me sometimes was a bit frustrating, especially when there are a few of them in a row on a path. The jump also has this kind of issue. For example here, I couldn't jump, so I was locked! locked.png I could escape by releasing all the fruits, but then they all got stuck in places where I couldn't get them anymore haha.

Anyway, great game overall!

Ca m'a surpris de voir la taille de la map, et j'admets que la taille de ses montagnes ne m'a donné qu'un seul objectif, grimper tout en haut des sommets. Chose faite aprÚs avoir augmenté toutes les stats au maximum. Il est un peu frustrant, par moment, de galérer à récupérer les petits fruits au sol alors qu'on semble passer correctement dessus.

okay wow! This is by far the best game I've played in a few Ludum dares. The graphics are beyond outstanding. The grass, the water, everything is so good! I had so much fun, I maxxed out all the stats.

Ah man, and the level is huge! There's so much to explore. Seriously, this has raised the bar. It's all around an incredible game.

The *only* complaint I have is that since I'm playing in ultrawide, the camera is a bit too close to the character. I tried changing the resolution (and wow, what a well made pause menu!) but it just stretched everything to fit my monitor's resolution, despite trying to make it 16 by 9.

Oh man, this game has style. Absolutely great job all around. I hope this wins.

Thanks for the feedback on my game! I think our games suffer from the same issue - finicky controls. Was hard to pick up fruit a lot of the time, and rolling with fruit was painfully slow and not much of an interesting challenge to begin with but then obviously gets less frustrating if you upgrade.

I really appreciate the level design, it's a fantastic layout and after a while I just forgot about the fruit and went zoomin around as fast as I could - once you have some momentum it becomes really fun to control, but having to slow down to collect fruit, which you have to roll over 5 times sometimes kills the momentum in multiple ways.

I love the hedgehog character, really strong design! Love the little blink.

In the end I had a LOT of fun, but there was a solid 5 minutes of struggle at the start to get to said fun :D

Very coherent and also really cute this hedgehog as he rolls through the insanely **well-designed world**. It is also great that you can set everything in the settings as you need it.

The only thing that bothered me a bit was the collecting of items. What I mean is that the item finally _sticks_. It's also a shame that you have to go back to Home sooner than you think - "But I want to explore this huge world even further" - but you get to do that anyway once you've bought enough upgrades.

All in all, I felt **super comfortable with this fantastic game** and I can only take my hat off to your work!

Super cute game !

Great level design and the character and world have a lot of personality.

I was afraid at the start that it would get repetitive because I thought you would have to get to the same places every day. But after a few days the game really opens up and it's really cool to see familiar places in a completely different light once you mobility increases.

The fruits refusing to snap to you is a bit frustrating, but apart from that it's an awesome game !

Super cute game with great level design! Controls felt super intuitive and fun to zip around with, except for some minor nitpicks: - Early-on the hitboxes on apples/mangoes felt a little big, it felt a bit punishing to grab more than a couple despite a lot of areas having 4-6 in the same spot - Fall damage also felt a bit too punishing early on and stopped me from exploring areas I would have otherwise

Very nice and polished game. Remind me a bit our LD52 game Junkship (we also have a physics arcade where you harvest stuff balancing between amount and risks. Not exactly, but still!). I only think it a bit too easy. I woudl add some junk to get in the way that you also harvesy but dont get anything (but that may be professional deformation after that jam :DD)

A lot of fun, except when Hogsworth (I never caught a name for the little guy, so I just nicknamed him Hogsworth) would get stuck on the terrain and wouldn't roll or jump. Especially as he got bigger and faster, collision issues got worse. The graphics, sound and gameplay were great!

Cool game! I love games like Monkey Ball and Katamari Damacy so this was up my alley. I did find it a bit difficult to control at times but I got used to it after more upgrades. Good work!

What a stunning, adorable game! Such a nice environment to get lost in, with that beautiful music playing in the background - the map is huge, with loads to explore! The gameplay loop is straightforward yet engaging enough to keep me playing each new day. I'm not sure if it's intentional but it seemed that level up points don't carry onto the next day? I was stuck at 5 and all the abilities I wanted cost 8, yet my points just never went up any further. Either way - definitely one of my favourites of LD52 so far.

Upgrade points carry between days, it's just that you only can spend extra points that exceed the target for the day. So if you collect 12 points with a target of 5, you'll have 7 points to spend, and if you still have unspent points, they will carry to the next day (only for upgrades, you can't collect target points for day 2 in day 1)

Nice little concept and a very good take on the LD theme this year. I also liked the music and overall atmosphere very much. At some point I struggled with controlling my precious hedgehog, but I got through in the end :smile:

Wow, this game was amazing! I had so much fun exploring the world as a hedgehog and discovering all the different foraging spots. The upgrades were really cool and I loved how the world seemed to shrink as I bought them. The graphics were great and the variety of music was a nice touch. I was a bit disappointed that the seasons didn't change and the food didn't become more scarce as the game went on, but that didn't take away from my overall enjoyment of the game. The level design was awesome and I even found a partially built area in the foggy distant terrain. My only suggestions would be to make it a bit easier to pickup food in the early game (maybe give player the player a slightly larger collection radius), and either give the game an ending or make the game get harder (faster growth of the daily food cost and more food scarcity over time). Overall, great job on the game and I can't wait to see what you come up with next!

@tricky-fat-cat Thanks! I don't think I understood your question. We didn't use any render targets. If you are asking about a general optimization pipeline, it was as simple as turning off expensive features, not using unnecessary high-res textures, and watching tris count. Unreal mostly did everything for us ;)

Beautiful environments and great controls! It's a bit unfortunate how easy it is to clip through the ground or get stuck inside objects by hitting them at high speeds, but other than that I have no complaints!

Like people already said its a really cute and cool spin-off of Katamari! The level design is great and its super fun to explore once you get the upgrades going. Only thing i would ask for is for the hedgehog to be a little more stickier so that i wouldnt need torun around the same food a few times before collecting it. Great game and good job! :D.
