Keep The Beat Alive! by Willops 2020-04-26T21:47:49Z
Incredible game! I liked everything in it, and I loved how those animations made every action very satisfying!

Incredible game! I liked everything in it, and I loved how those animations made every action very satisfying!
Unique concept, the theme is respected, fun graphics, I love it!
I had a bug where I could not validate the second checkpoint (between the two holes)... I finished a game exactly on it, but I respawned on the last checkpoint... Am I doing it wrong?
Really nice game! Very hard, but fits the theme perfectly!
Nice, original game! It took me some time to figure out what to do, and I got stuck at level 4 (I think) and stopped ther. The concept is nice, never seen that before :)
I absolutely love the concept and its link to the subject! Being a healer is exactly this :)
Congratulations, best game I've seen here so far, I will keep it and play it again!
Well I was not expecting to have so much fun with such a simple concept! At the beginning I was like "And so what?", but I realized that it was actually very challenging and surprisingly stressful :)
Only two regrets: polishing (grphics and sounds), and that you cannot skip the tutorial about the three basic factors.
But I sure had more fun than many other games!
I had way more fun playing this than I thought I would! The feeling at every bullet is great, the balance is good (every time I survived just on time) and every new enemy was a big WOW from me (even if there is only 3 different enemies).
A small thing to improve: an endless mode after the end would have been great :)
Edit: I REALLY appreciated that you took the time to make a tutorial! Very few games do that and it really helps the player to stock to your game fast
About the good things: - I like the 2-colored graphics ; the palette is nice - The controls are easy to use and to understand (there is a kid of elegance of doing a game with 4 buttons) - The game matches the theme "Keep it alive"
About the possible improvements: - Even if I like the palette and pixeled graphics, the pixel size inconsistence breaks the visuals of the game (you should check out Unity's Pixel Perfect Camera) - The planets keep making a "ding" noise even if they have no resource left - I don't feel a difference between the 4 resources ; only 1 resource would be enough ; same for planets, I don't feel a difference between them - Effects about gravity, or the suns dealing real damage to the ship (which would stop flying straight for example) would be a plus
:)
Nice game! Beautiful and fun!
I stopped after 25 minutes in my first run... Maybe you should have made the game a little harder, or made the enemies stats increase with time (like they progressively get 10% in every stat every minute), to keep the difficulty alive :)
Really nice game, awesome graphics and sound design!
The foreground can sometimes be a little annoying, but the rest of the game is great!
Very nice game! !
I think I did kind of good :)

I think I did kind of good! The feeling when you go over the holes is incredibly awful :D (it's like experiencing the thing for real)
@duke
Thank you for playing and for your comment!
Actually, as we spent a lot of time on aesthetics, music and other details even at the beginning, the level was created a few hours before release and we could only then test the game in real conditions for the first time... That was a mistake, and we realized that, although we are proud of many things in this game, the gameplay was actually not that good and boring at some point.
If I may give a shield to my coworker @revetoon, I made the UI and he told me many times to change it, exactly for the same reasons as you... Every time I felt like I had better to do, but it is right that I should have taken the time to make the UI more convenient and less intruding :)
Thank you for all, it is because of comments like this that we won't make the same mistakes twice :D
Is there a way to regain battery? I feel like I have hit the high score by scoring 31 on the first try...
Actually I really liked the aesthetics of the game, especially the grass moving as it is cut down!
Holly cow that was a nice one!
Loved the humour and the general mood of the game. STRIKE!
Nice game with very pleasing graphics!
Small bug though, of the 5 times I died, 3 times the game got stuck (no fade out, just the camera stuck as is and the snake continuing its path ; no player to control) and I had to kill it with the Windows Task Manager :(
Nice game! I liked the aesthetics and the music, and the gameplay is more exciting than I thought!
Very cool game! I really liked the physics of the car, very pleasing to use!
Downside though, I feel like it does not really fit the theme... The races are technically loops, but you are not stuck in it...
Nice game, although sometimes it is hard to see what is happening because of the higher platforms
I really liked the first room's mood, not knowing what to do in an ancient place, but got stuck in the maze ^^
(picking up the book was kind of hard, the book flying everywhere as soon as i took it (was it intended?))
LD48-2.png
Well that was super-close!
I loved the mechanics (Mindustry and that kind of games is 100% my jam), I loved the music (especially the menu), I loved how balanced it was (I mean, I finished the gamme with 15 sceonds left, that was perfect), I loved the attention to details (the planet growing in the background had me freak out a little), that wa a great game. Take my stars!
Nice puzzle game! Really loved the credits ^^
Well that was terrifying. Take my stars and go summon Chtulhu somewhere else
Nice work on the look!
Small bug / glitch: the enemies hit you if they do their attack anim, even if you escaped in time...
Really nice game! Smart, interesting and I like the visuals!
Strangely, I like the fact that it is not random-generated, so if you loose multiple times you start learning the pattern and it becomes easier :)
Loved the game! I am very impressed by how much content you put in the game, including the animations and tutorials! That is a lot of work for a short amound of time, well done! Also love the aesthetics
Very pretty game! Really loved the aesthetics, except maybe for the particle effects which were not quite as good as the rest...
Also, I played for a while, but the game didn't appear to get harder... Is that normal? Maybe making the ghosts appear more and more frequently would make the death of the tree truly inevitable.
I must say I am impressed! Controls are good, physics are good (and I guess it can be a pain in the a** for this kind of games to make), the AI was really good (will you make a post about how you did it ? I would love to see that!) and there were some very nice details to discover, such as th dynamic destruction of the car! Well done!
Very nice game! Fits the theme perfectly, in such a unique way! Kind of hard to understand the logics of the game but really fun!
Nice game! I really like the attention to details and graphics: skeletton animations, the devil behind you, the meteors and hanging cages... Also the sound design with the whispers is very good. Maybe some traps are a little too challenging and can feel unfair: the rats are very hard to spot and shoot, the bats a little bit too, and the spiky logs are hard to avoid because of the low gravity. Nice game overall!
Super nice game! One of my favorites of this LD!
Well I have to say I had my fun playing this! I agree with the comments, setting the max to 100 made everything chaotic but very fun! Also cool fire effect.
Well what an incredible game! Very pretty, very funny (love the main menu), and overall very fun gameplay! Nicely balanced, and nice feelings in the parkour & shooting. Congrats! Et comme je suppose que vous êtes Français, bonjour à vous ^^
Well that is a very impressive game! Super nice map with some variation and a lot of unique details, different zones that really feel different (like "oh no I have to go to the mine fields again"), nice animations (explosions!) and a cool musical theme.
Nice game! Like the minimalistic graphics :)
There are a few visual artifacts, but overall I liked the game!
@unkilledshadow135-alex Hi! Thanks for the review :) We are very curious about the problem you encountered about the dialogs (it is a core part of the game, very sad if players cannot see that haha). What browser were you playing on? Are there some specific details on your setup that may occur that?
@amolker Thanks for the review! We have heard of this problem from other players, but your message really helped us reproducing it! We are working on it, dialogs are a core part of the game
Nice game! Really liked the cartoonish aesthetics, and the art style in general!
Nice game! Loved the different planet environments, especially the last one ^^
Very nice game! Nice visuals, nice soundtrack, tutorial, overall a nicely polished game!
A few weird behaviors I encountered though: * The arm won't reach some packages with a specific angle, and it seems that no upgrade will fix this * Sometimes the space button will get stock on, especially whrn a menu opens and the spacebar is released; this causes the laser to overheat and can make the player lose sometimes
Overall congrats!
I liked this game! Seems very easy and obvious at first, but when the dog comes everything becomes more challenging! Little downside though, having to validate every turn makes the game a little bit slow to play ^^'
Really cool game, very innovative!
Nice game! Very cool visual and audio atmosphere!
Such a cool game, nice concept! I wish there was more!
Really cool game! At first I thought it would be way easier, levels 9-10 are really rewarding to finish! Congrats!
Nice game! Really loved the mouth sound effects ^^
Don't know what to say. Maybe the best jam game I've ever played, super interesting gameplay, very cute graphics, nice sounds, perfect!
Well I have to leave another comment. I played a lot yesterday and came back today, what a fantastic game. I believe I "finished" it as I arrived at a point where I could no longer buy cards ^^ Hydra.png
That is a great game. I was vibing to the incredible music the whole time.
Cool game, nice artwork! I have a lot of trouble understanding how to make the controls work (keyboard), I feel like there is some kind of very long cooldown for spells, or my spacebar works once in 10 times...
Really cool game!
Hard to summon the long one, took me a few attempts haha
Really love the visuals
Really nice game!
Really cool game, very nice graphics, kinda sppoky! Unfortunately I got stuck, unable to move, when passing through the third lantern hole...
Nice game! Really liked the way interacting with objects made chords that match the ost
Very nice game! Such a simple concept leading to very smart levels!
Incredible. Would play a full-release version for hours.
Nice game! Funny texts and smart mechanics, a bit weird to understand but a very nice experience!
Nice game! Very hard to make a RTS in 3 days, congrats for that!
If I may, it would be great to have a little more feedback on attacks, it can be hard to see / understand if troops or tanks are firing or not, and maybe understand why sometimes they seem to miss the target
Hi @dahliainosensu @pacelin and @rodney-fan Thanks a lot for letting us know! Mistakes were made but are now fixed, the .exe version should work properly now! Don't hesitate to tell us if the errors persists!
@honey-pony Thanks for the feedback! It is true that the game is hard, it is the main concern we had doing this and we sadly couldn't spend as much time as we wanted on player understanding and gameplay balance.
Actually one of the 60-70 scores is from myself, and I agree that it needs a very good understanding of some patterns to get there. We may make a more balanced (and less punishing) version after the game jam to fix that, as we feel that apart from this the game has some potential that could be better exploited with some more towers and real endgame gameplay.
I hope you still had fun, thanks again for the feedback!
PS: we take note of the description bug you found, we will fix it!
@ategon Ok wow. Super-thanks for the feedback, and super-congratulations for your score!
To be frank we could not beat 80, and we were seriously theorizing that 100 was impossible... And you beat that impossible score by 65! Just incredible, and I agree that going that far makes the music and the gameplay repetitive
Really nice! Feels good, nice graphics :)
Nice game, with very interesting puzzles and a nice narrative!
Gorgeous game!
Really liked this! Innovative and really catchy, congrats!
Super pretty game! A bit confused about the main goal to achieve, but very nice to build a small underground community!
Well, did not expect to have so much fun with this! Congrats! (found the mighty sandwitch)
@grizeldi This is a not-so-intuitive mechanic, when an ant is in the gun you must click on incoming worms on the side of this gun :)
@defrag Thank you for your feedback! About the depth reached, it cannot really be used as a score because if you take more time in the dialogs you will go further (and some parts of the game can be endlessly extended to reach infinite depth). Displaying depth is used for the player to have a little more immersive experience and to understand how long they have to dig until next section of the game, but unfortunately that's it
Thank you all for the nice feedback
@jamesgames1000 Sorry to tell you that but there isn't really an end to the game; however by this screenshot I can tell that you have seen everything there is to see in the whole game, and I am truly wondering if I have ever been this far without tweaking the parameters to test it... At this point the game is supposed to become overwhelmingly difficult (because we hadn't time to make a scenarized end) so congrats for truly beating the game!
Great game, very impressive for a Jam! I felt like the oxygen limit, stamina limit and light range were a bit too constraining...
Gorgeous!
Ok wow that was a hell of a drive With max speed I was able to clip through the intestine, making everyting a lot easier and faster  Clip.png Also it felt like there was some glitches with the ending text (when you click again on the letter while the text is running) Dialog.png
Alright this game is absolutely amasing; had way more fun than I expected. Did 12 minutes, will come back to do sub-5
Continued playing for 30 minutes, 3:48 haha
2:49 haha! Love this game
Needless to say this is one of the best fun I've had ever in a game jam!
Super nice game! Addictive gameplay, perfect difficulty! I found a little clip-through-walls glitch that allowed me sub-10 scores in the race haha Glitch.png (there are holes on top and bottom of the map, allowing you to skip basically half of the turns)
Neat game! Feels really good, kinda hard to tell what to do better when a game is over but great fame! Really liked the visuals also
@runningopenloop Actually you can! It's the red torches on the right! That means that we may have to make it clearer, at least in a description of the game:) Thanks for the feedback!
@jonasolsson I am working on a mobile build! Currently it works with the WebGL version on mobile but it is cropped on the sides...
Awesome game! Feels great to be God, and destroy the world over some Gymnopedie
Great game! Feels a bit easy but many fun mechanics and combos!
Nice game! Love the graphics
@mezaka haha maybe we should submit the game to the government to see if it can be used as a simulator for new drivers, I am sure they will love the idea!
Amazing game! Very fun concept, did pretty well I think! score.png
Great game! Nice mechanics, and very cool artwork!
Nice game! I think it is great also that you made it a finished story instead of going for an endless level with highscore. Makes the dialogue matter, it reads like a fun comic short-story, it is great!
Best game I've played so far! Great music & SFX, gorgeous graphics and visuals, great gameplay & look&feel!
Funny twist on the theme :)
