This game is incredible. Very very well done. I love the sound sonar and the aesthetic. you should be very proud. I've played 15 games from this jam so far and this is hands down my favorite. Make this a bigger game!

hacktrout 2020-04-21 21:33

What a great looking game! Loved the aesthetic. Felt that it could've done with some enemies. Great work with this game, it deserves more ratings!

rokevicius 2020-04-21 21:34

Awesome graphics!

shay-cichocki 2020-04-21 21:35

One of the best games I have played this jam. Really enjoyed the art style it was pretty great what you could do with such a small pixel size for everything. Good job

fumiknight 2020-04-21 21:36

thank you

sadzanenyama 2020-04-21 21:36

The sound radar was nice and unique and the console-y thing to the left gave the game a nice old game-y feel. The game play was a bit simple for me but I can understand that from a jam game, I just would've liked more mechanics. Well done overall!

brain-in-a-bowl 2020-04-21 21:39

Love the graphical style and theme. Exploration was nice at first, but I found nothing to do or interact with in space. I guess that makes sense for space, but I'd still have liked to interact a bit more. Side note: the different levels of coarseness in the pixel art kinda bothered me. The interface was much lower resolution compared to the ship, and the planets and stars were different as well. More consistency would've been nice, but still a very nice-looking game for a jam project.

nick-rasmussen 2020-04-21 21:40

Pretty cool game. The resource bars were a little buggy, but I really liked having to navigate with audio.

sklaiser 2020-04-21 21:41

The sound sonar is great!!

karln 2020-04-21 21:41

Wow this is really nice. The art is nice, I love that audio is an integral part of the game (although you probably should put a warning on the game page in case people have sound turned off or are, you know, deaf) and that it uses stereo to help you navigate.

Oh also, at one point I was like "oh cool a sun that will be warm" and the game was like, "be careful around suns the ship can explo..." and I was like BOOM and I was like "right I see"

d1str4kt0r 2020-04-21 21:42

I love this.. Aesthetics look like someone is reading my future on the cards. Hope is not being alone at space tho.. Great Work

firebelley 2020-04-21 21:42

This is a great looking game! I couldn't honestly figure out what I was supposed to do though. I saw info about a sound radar but couldn't figure out how to activate it.

I definitely think you have a cool idea here!

jenny-bourke 2020-04-21 21:44

This is beautiful! I love it

sli 2020-04-21 21:45

Very well made. You should persue it. I have no negative feedback. Feature idea: it become brighter near the Sun.

madhumster 2020-04-21 21:45

This is incredible. Style is soooo good and searching for sounds is very fun.

cybersamurai9000 2020-04-21 21:46

It's look pretty!

jojopalambas 2020-04-21 21:46

About the good things: - I like the 2-colored graphics ; the palette is nice - The controls are easy to use and to understand (there is a kid of elegance of doing a game with 4 buttons) - The game matches the theme "Keep it alive"

About the possible improvements: - Even if I like the palette and pixeled graphics, the pixel size inconsistence breaks the visuals of the game (you should check out Unity's Pixel Perfect Camera) - The planets keep making a "ding" noise even if they have no resource left - I don't feel a difference between the 4 resources ; only 1 resource would be enough ; same for planets, I don't feel a difference between them - Effects about gravity, or the suns dealing real damage to the ship (which would stop flying straight for example) would be a plus

:)

thenumberyellow 2020-04-21 21:47

I really like the 2 colour graphics style, and yellow was a great choice :) The sonar was a pretty cool mechanic, and it had just enough depth to be interesting for its duration. Overall great!

jwiggs 2020-04-21 21:47

Really cool game. I really loved the simple art style, though I still can't figure out what the bottom resource is supposed to be. I wish you stated somewhere (on the game page or on this page) the controls because I was sitting for the first few minutes trying to figure out how to play. I think there might be a bug with the sliders where you can just manually set them, so I was doing that for the first few minutes being really confused XD.

Once I figured I could move around, the sound radar was awesome and was really intuitive to use.

Great job! One of my favorites so far.

stefan0198 2020-04-21 21:47

I really love the art style of this game :D

edalbung 2020-04-21 21:48

The graphics style is marvelous, indeed, it reminded me a lot of a Game Boy Color game ! I was back in past during my childhood, thank you for that ! :)

The concept is original, it was fun to control the spaceship, and the feedback sounds were cool !

However, I would have like an abstract visual sign for each type of resources, and when the spaceship is near the resource (when the player can hear the sound) the visual sign disappears. Because, currently I lost because I couldn't find the right resource at time, it was a bit frustating.

Overall, really nice work !

pineapplegladiator 2020-04-21 21:49

Very unusual experience, trying to orient using sound! Very creative! Good Job!

fabula-rasa 2020-04-21 21:51

The sound radar is a very nice concept. I also liked the duotone of the color choice :). It is a really solid game and I enjoyed exploring!

Human race died a lot, though, I must admit.

pele90 2020-04-21 21:55

That sound radar feature is awesome. Really nice idea. Sound is great also, although gets a biiit annoying after a while. Love the monochromatic graphics and pixel art. The only negative thing is that the gameplay is a bit stagnant. And the tutorial part should come a bit earlier. Played with resource GUI a bit and tought it was broken. But overall, great game. Nice job.

gama-11 2020-04-21 21:56

Great use of audio, made for a cool atmosphere!

Something I felt was missing is some score on game over to give you some indication of how well you did, even if it's just "seconds survived".

the-jahn 2020-04-21 21:58

This was pretty fun. The controls feel nice and navigating by sound is an interesting concept. Good work! :D

ketura 2020-04-21 21:59

Took me a minute to realize I was supposed to move with wasd/arrow keys. The mouse-based interface for the instructions implied that would be the primary mode of interaction, but that was not the case.

All the resources run out at the same rate, which offers no distinction or importance. You should try to have each one tied to some other stat, such as speed or shields or resource-acquiring speed or something, to give the player a reason to care.

You put a border around the world in what's supposed to be a space game? No no no. Make it loop seamlessly (hit the top and subtly teleport to the bottom, etc) or procedurally generate more as needed.

Where's the win condition? I see a loss condition, but no *goal*. If survival is literally the only component, then there at least needs to be a score system so I can have the implicit goal of "score more".

kleinzach 2020-04-21 22:00

I very much light the concept of navigation by listening to the sonar. That felt great and was an excellent use of 3d sound. Because of the limited view and the lack of any direction, it became hard to make plans or strategize about anything, which got in the way of some of my enjoyment because I would just be wandering around somewhat aimlessly, but again, the use of 3d sound did help event that experience quite a bit. Also, even though there were 4 resources, I couldn't really make any decisions based on their levels as I can't go seek out a water planet if I'm low on water. Nitpicks though, I like the audio and visuals a lot!

sir-magic 2020-04-21 22:00

Wow that was amazing! I really liked how you incorporated audio into this game as the ship's radar. The graphic style is simple yet effective and the art looks amazing. I don't think I've ever played anything like it! In terms of how to improve, I don't have much but I will say that I wasn't sure at the beginning what all the icons were supposed to represent so there's that. Also, the flashing power symbol when it got low was very confusing, maybe make it flash in a way that it's "on" longer than "off" so that we can still read the metre.

justolinas 2020-04-21 22:00

Nice work, simple and fun :)

sophiemae0 2020-04-21 22:02

I loved how this game used audio queueing, the water sound was especially satisfying to hear, good job with the game :)

rongefilet 2020-04-21 22:07

The visuals drawn me to it and clearly I was not disappointed! Loved the overall atmosphere, the 1-bit look and the spacialized soundscapes. Maybe resources could fill juste a little bit faster, I keep dying of starvation while pumping water :(. Very good anyway, great job!

willian-oliva 2020-04-21 22:07

The game was pretty fun. The choose for keep the style on minimum colors and resolution turned out pretty great!

The bad part was that the game saturates really fast. Gadgets like history, progression, or something like that, may revive the game. I don't feel like beeing in an eternal search for resources, but I coud easily be engaged in an exploring game in the space. Thats a smooth diference, but means a lot.

evanaellio 2020-04-21 22:19

The radar was a neat little idea, and it's even better with headphones. The art style is simple but coherent. Apart from the charging sound, which I found to be a little bit annoying, the sounds are pretty good

potatoandtaco 2020-04-22 18:56

Very original little game, and pretty too! But the resource icons very kinda confusing what they meant, but I managed to figure it out by dying multiple times.

bredian 2020-04-22 20:22

Enjoyable mix of explorative space simulator and blind man's buff. A really solid base big space adventure game in which you not only looking for resources, but encounter various perils of cosmos.

stadoblech 2020-04-22 20:35

https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/46/space-exodus whats going on here??

naca 2020-04-22 21:02

Very interesting the sound radar! I loved that and the colors that you choose. The resource icons maybe needed more work, but it was funny to play. Well done :)
