Wow that was cool ! The mechanic is simple to understand and everythings is very well done. It's a bit repetitive at some point (but in only 72h it make sens :) ). I hope you'll keep to work on it, it coold be a very simple yet fun mobile game :) Good work guys !

Very neat! I'm not yet sure how best to give feedback upon an Extra game, but assumign it was made majoritarily in the 72 hours, I am very impressed! A wholly complete experience that gives me some nice Dungeon Keeper vibes in premise. The building system didn't take me long to figure out and it all played quite nicely! Managed to make it to the Hero being level 21 before dying. Love the adorable animations, that even the traps get little happy victory animations.

I think my biggest criticism is just that the UI is a bit confusing regarding how much resistance the Hero has gained. UX is difficult to get in a jam though. I think a quick win that would have improved the experience would have been a little element of randomness in the actual fights; I get that it was meant to be a numbers game, but once I'd understood everything, it was a bit underwhelming to know the exact outcome of the fight before it happened. An occasional critical hit on my or the hero's side would have been a little spicy unpredictability.

But overall, very solid entry, well done!

Simple to learn, but it's only delaying the inevitable...

Great concept... I love it when someone turns a classic game on end and gives the player a different perspective. Enjoyed playing the game would play again.

I would consider adding to the tutorial or descriptions an example battle resolution... I did not quite grasp the numbers the player had on each type of mob at the top... is this the amount of damage per attack the player does on the dungeon mob/trap? I could see the player was upgrading and could see the numbers increasing when they killed a particular mob (can you kill a trap?) but it was not clear how the outcome of an attack was calculated.

Graphics were great... sort of the 8-bit classic look, which I love, and the music is simple but also good. Long enough to not have the repetition get boring or on your nerves.

I like the suggestions of adding critical hits (or misses) against the player that is given in some of the other comments. Overall, great game and well executed.

Cool game. I feel the flow and it was great. Got into the theme, thanks u for experience.

Loved the game! I am very impressed by how much content you put in the game, including the animations and tutorials! That is a lot of work for a short amound of time, well done! Also love the aesthetics

Absolutely enjoyed it from start to inevitable end. This game deserves a full-on review.

This game is so polished and fun to play! Amazing visuals and sound, and juicy battle effects. One of the best games I've played this jam!

pashaloban 2022-04-12 07:00

Cool game

toc 2022-04-12 10:23

Very satisfying and fun to play. The different equipment added a fun tactical choice. I made it to the 20th level.

kintama45 2022-04-12 10:38

I really like the idea that you are playing as the dungeon. The game has a really good foundation, but it would be much funner if there was different stuff I could buy

woetnie 2022-04-12 15:33

Great concept and execution! Game also looks and sounds good, everything fits together perfectly

olivier-millochau 2022-04-12 15:41

The game is much more polish than your average submission, you did wonders with the extra time ! Props to the tutorial, way too many games skip on it, it feels good to not have to guess how everything work.

As for the gameplay itself, it's very simple but it's a nice idea for a jam, and it nicely fits the theme !

The icons of the skeletons and goblins were a little bit too similar imo (you maybe could have used a tad more colours ?), but that's just nitpicking. Congratz on the submission !

mathglo 2022-04-12 15:42

Great entry! I skiped the tutorial thinking I was better than the game, but I guess I should of done it!

ditam 2022-04-12 16:29

I love the crisp pixel art, and the general concept. The UI is clear and the tutorial is much appreciated. Gameplay was a bit repetitive ultimately, but nonetheless this is a very nice entry, congrats!

Easily one of my favorites played so far! Such a fun idea with great art, music, juice, etc. This game should have way more plays and ratings. It is fantastic! If you all were to expand upon it now, I could easily see myself owning this. Great job!

eboatwright 2022-04-12 17:07

Very fun game! It's awesome that you got a tutorial into the game, I love Kenney's art, I loved the music and sounds, just a very fun, polished, and good game!

fraz 2022-04-12 22:13

Great game! I really love the design, and its really satisfying to build up a really big dungeon. The inclusion of a tutorial was a really nice touch. Art and Music is very fitting. Overall, a great submission!

potkirland 2022-04-13 01:11

very neat indeed. very polished game i think it is pretty intriguing take on the mechanics. to me i couldnt catch on the idea of hero building specific resistence. if it wasnt for blooalain. so maybe make that a little more obvious. i found the resistence building a little op maybe have it kill 1 minion once it can kill and have it so he needs more resistence to kill 2 in a row for a type of minion. with this much resistence it felt meaningless to upgrade my minion. so one of the mechanics were just out of question by that.

also i tried 3 spider room setup but once he plowed through them selling them off didnt provide any resistance wearoff. (obviously this is a design choice by you guys but i expected it) as well as selling them off didnt give me enough money to rebuild a strong enough base. that diminished my chances of survival as well as my means to do anything. so not being able to strategize by myself but the mechanics forcing me to find that one solutions is turning into a try and error thing.

orionhart 2022-04-14 08:41

Pretty good game overall. Well polished. I think the "inevitable" took a bit too long to get to, and after a while I just kept adding the same rooms and creatures. Also, I really needed some music and sound sliders. Really polished otherwise.

glaikunt 2022-04-14 13:46

Awesome job, great game! It reminds me of a board game Boss Monster. The art is great though I was confused who the hero was at first. Overall amazing job everything fit together really well.

remn 2022-04-14 17:47

I liked this game. Well-chosen sounds, design and visual component at a height

automatonvx 2022-04-15 00:20

Agree with everything @orionhart said alrady, pretty good, I had fun to start, but the inevitable ends up taking a bit too long, and didn't really feel that my choices were going to make a lot of difference in the end. Also partially just an issue with the theme generally. Liked the low res pixel art style. Music loop was nice and fitting, although as the game goes on for a while ended up being a little repetitive. All felt pretty polished. Solid enough

jonathan-lorenz 2022-04-15 12:22

This was a nice experience. This feels like it couyld be expanded into a more complex game. Very good work!

saintchristopher777 2022-04-15 13:09

Awesome game! Good concept, art, sound. Fun to play. Could definitely be expanded more too. Great work!

recher 2022-04-15 21:47

Nice catch on the "Dungeon Keeper" theme.

Graphics are really cute.

When I want to move a room, the drag-drop does not immediatly work. I have to click a first time, then re-click to do the drag-drop. I don't know if it is made on purpose.

I would have loved to level up my creatures and my traps to a level higher than 3. That would give more choices : do I buy another room and another creature, or do I level up an existing one ?

The user interface is not always clear. The logo on top of the screen, showing the degrees of mastery of the heroes, are not very clear. We guess there is one logo per trap type, and that they are in the same order than the buy buttons, but they are really too small to be distinguishid. I was always looking at the order in the bottom to have the correspondance.

I'm still not sure of how to interpret the trap modifiers +2 / -2. Does "+2" means an advantage for the hero or for the dungeon master ? In short : should I put at the beginning the traps modified by a +2, or the traps modified by a -2 ?

I would love a second episode, with a 2D game mechanic. Dungeon would be a grid, with many treasures on a border. One or more hero would spawn from the other border, and they would each have a different behavior (a trap type they love/hate, a preferred direction, ...)

Thank you !

Great stuff! I really enjoy it and will be playing again to see what's the nest setup. It's kind of tactical and kind of a puzzle. Very interesting and amazingly well done, reminds me of early NES games with the sound being similar to ones generated Master System and some of the artwork being Atari-esque.
