10 second burn by Paul Sinnett 2013-08-27T23:10:00
Great Job. I had a good time playing.
The graphics are great and you got the controls spot on!

Great Job. I had a good time playing.
The graphics are great and you got the controls spot on!
Neat.
I like the minimalistic graphics, got straight to the gameplay! Didn't crash for me.
That's great seeing new games being made with older materials. This actually makes me want to program in assembly again!
Good, Pretty good.
I also noticed you used Python! ;)
I love how it has a sort of Fez-like feel. The 2D to 3D jump is very innovative. All in all 5/5.
I like it.
I noticed you made it in Java, I might toy around with the code for it.
Great work! LOVE the graphical style.
Adorable.
Reminds me of Paper Mario a tiny bit.
I love the humor! I'm surprised to see so many people using game maker nowadays, I'm glad it's no longer getting constant flack.
djdduty, I agree completely. I like the Prelude of the Chambered rendering engine, I've used it in some of my projects, but I have at least changed the gameplay in a significant way and gave credit to Notch for writing the base code. This is a direct clone of the game, with very little modification.
To the (fake) author of this clone, If you really want to make a game using this engine, please give credit to the original author and more importantly, BE ORIGINAL.
I do think you've done some clever things with the engine (e.g. Wall textures animated to look like waterfalls), but the gameplay is uninspired, boring, and barely changed. You have also used textures/sprites from the original game, which breaks competition rules. As said in the rules, all assets for the game must be made within the 48/72 hours.
Sorry if this entry gets removed, but that's what you get.
- Jev
I like the concept and the everything was really fun!
My only complaint is that there was a bit too much screenshake.
I just played it... It's okay, but way too time consuming and also lacks sound. Good concept though.
I like the game, and the graphics look good, but you need some serious performance optimizations.
The buttons also aren't very reactive
Amazing game! Very much like "Papers, Please".
Had lots of fun playing this.
I loooooooove the music and sound effects!
The gameplay is good, but I don't see how it really relates to the theme.
Same error.
Nevermind, it's working now!
I got a really good vibe from playing this :)
The graphics are pretty good, I didn't like the first song though (the second one is pretty good). The physics are good and do what they're supposed to do, but my biggest criticism is that this doesn't have anything to do with the theme from what I'm seeing. Still a good game though!
Nice entry.
Damnnnn, this is hard :P
Reminds me a lot of Cave Story. Amazing graphics as usual, and the audio/music is pretty good too.
Got a high score of... 720 :/
I like the overall look and feel of the game! The music is also very calming, but that walking noise can get a bit distracting.
Cool game.
Uh, got an error.
I restarted the game and gave it another go though; didn't have any issues that time.
I like the aesthetic, but the game is really confusing at first (I guess that was the point eh?)
This feels like a video game version of the GameCube intro thing and menu... I guess it's just the music/blocky aesthetic.
Good game!
Good game.
Awesome graphics.
Amazing soundtrack.
11/10.
The game is very glitchy and cheatable, but the idea is there and works. I agree with Gunzil in that you could use color to convey darkness instead of, well, darkness.
The font is also reaaaally hard to read.
LOL, love the references.
The music is also pretty good.
Cute little game.
Some sounds/music would've helped, and possibly some way to regain health.
Either way, good game!
Oh my GOD
This game
THIS GAME
This game helped me find the meaning of life.
5/5
That CRT effect reminds me a lot of You Have to Win the Game (http://store.steampowered.com/app/286100/).
This is a very creative entry! 5/5'd
Also: Dammmmnnnnnnn that music is amazing. You should, like, really make this into a full-blown game.
It's a good experience, the music is nice, but some of the sounds were a bit loud.
The gameplay is good and delivers a good vibe. Good work!
It took a while to get used to though, and I think you could've been a bit more direct with how you demonstrate your mechanics.
I-is this game supposed to be vaporwave art?
ゲーム420/現代のコンピューティングを与えるには
I thought the beautiful, innovative poetry at the beginning was quite cute =)
I have to agree with ChridGaudino here though, the game certainly does have a lack of content. But considering the fact that you made this game with tools you were just learning how to use at the time is pretty impressive and makes up for it IMO.
Cool entry
That music is wayyyy too loud.
The gameplay is pretty good though, and while your original mechanic looks like it came from VVVVVV there are some major differences (e.x. how you can still shift the direction of gravity mid-air, how enemies work, etc).
The aesthetic is very pleasing.
Granted, I am skeptical about this fitting in with the theme. This mechanic only works as a weapon if the level design allows for it. But with that aside, great entry.
I have to agree with @JacksGameSucks on this one... While it isn't a bad work it doesn't really fit in that well. :/
lol don't worry about the graphics mate. Not everybody here is a pro artist :P
The game's fun, but I've seen like 5 of these type of games this LD. ಠ_ಠ
Ughhhhm this is hard :P
Really cool music though, and the art is also really nice.
Why can't we vote in the audio category though? :(
Very creative concept, had fun even though it was very difficult :P
I don't like the limited dictionary, but I'm able to get around it.
I've been hyping up this game for a whole 48 hours! Thank god OP delivered.
Hitboxes are a bit weird, but I would love to see a full version of this (outside of LD) someday :D
I am genuinely jealous of this art. Wow. It's actually kind of inspiring.
The music is really fitting, the art works well, and the controls are really solid. It's a shame this game doesn't have more attention.
This is excellent.
I actually felt something while playing this, and the fact that it doesn't even need gameplay to invoke emotion is really impressive. Or maybe this is the gameplay, and the reason why there isn't anything to do is because of the fact that this poor character can't communicate with anybody or, well, show himself.
That's the way I see it at least.
Very cute.
The abrupt ending was kinda weird though.
The amount of times I've heard that today... lmao
@Zammalad, I've just fixed that glitch you mentioned with the four random fish. Just uploaded it now. I'm glad you like it!
I can definitely see the Papers, Please! influence, but the game itself is still really good. The fonts are great, the art is consistent and the choice if colors is good too.
Great work
This beatboxing is Too000OoOOo00p N000ooOoOo0oOo7tch
in all seriousness though this game has a lot of polish and I like it
I absolutely love the music, it fits the game really well.
The art is really well done and consistent. Interesting interpretation of the theme.
Good work, outside of Ludum Dare I would've had no idea this was done in 72 hours.
This is great, I love the lighting!
The gameplay is good, but it has a generic 'mobile game' vibe tbh. The art is consistent and overall it's a cute game.
The graphics are simple but could use some word. The audio is okay, and the sound effects are kinda loud though.
Also, I'm only able to jump with Space instead of W.
Really well-built, runs at a perfect 60 fps for me.
Had a lot of fun, and the blood particles are top-notch lol
great work
The graphics are cute. I feel like there isn't any way to escape the archer things though. Animation is good too.
Music could use some work.
I like the low file size <3
the game runs really, really, really fast for me. Like WebFreak001 said there's one space that's impossible to jump off of.
I don't like how the pixelart is inconsistently scaled, but the game is good.
Getting a really big doom vibe from this.
Nice work!
These graphics are top notch.
The controls felt a bit unresponsive though.
This is one of the best entries I've seen so far.
I'm a huge sucker for isometric graphics. The graphics look really cute and the game itself is really fun!
The zelda styled art / top down perspective is pretty cute, i like the general vibe of it.
Good first entry.
The game doesn't launch for me. It just mentions that a Java Exception has occured. :/
The happy-ish music gives the game a really playful mood, which combines well with the kinda dark-ish atmosphere.
The game crashes for me if I click on any of the icons in the bottom right.
The concept is great. I feel like the textures have a bit too much noise on them but other than that it's a great entry.
Web version doesn't load.
None of them are available actually.
It does look good though!
AHAHOH oh G0d that pun in the title i'm literally dying right now oh my god
The controls seem kinda wonky IMO, but I love the game :p
I found the game to be kinda confusing, but overall it's still fun and the Speakonia/MS/AT&T voice is pretty funny. I love the graphics/art style.
I feel like the level graphics could've been better, but these animations and particle effects are top notch. :3
I got a score of 750 up until I died on my first try, then 1350 on my second try.
I've noticed that you can get through it very easily by just standing in the top right corner of the map, since it doesn't take long to learn where people spawn (there are only two locations)
This is a pretty good entry for what it is. I actually had played this about an hour ago but forgot to rate/comment lol.
Nice work.
Really hard to control. Still fun though!
good audio too
The art is nice, and I like the lighting. The intro is well polished too
This was a really cute interpretation of the theme :P
Cute graphics, cute music, this was really well done.
The gameplay felt a bit short and easy but the ending kinda makes up for it IMO. Good entry.
The graphics are cute and consistent, and it's very fun to play through. The controls feel a bit unresponsive but that could just be me.
Very simple and cute graphics, but the physics seem a bit glitchy. The music was good but it wasn't hard to recognize as I've heard this song a lot before :P
Nice entry.
I love the physics. The art could use some work though. Audio would've helped.
The graphics are a bit confusing and the file size is huge, but the game itself is fun and pretty difficult. I don't see the relation to the theme though.
Come on and slam, and welcome to the jam!
No seriously though this is a really nice game
ohmygodohmygod i love the art.
The game is really buggy, but still relatively fun. Good entry!
It's all ogre now...
The web version didn't work for me, so I downloaded the Windows one instead.
I like the graphics as they're pretty consistent, and it's really addictive!
Good game!
I like it, but tbh I don't see the relation to the theme.
I like it. The level design seems a bit too simple but overall the game is fun and the AI is really well designed. I agree with Kassimkot that the game could use some audio.
This is actually pretty good for a first game IMO. The art is right up my alley and the simplicity of it is nice.
Sounds could use work but it's all gud
I like the game and the fast loading time helps, but I don't see the relation to the theme. It's very rage-inducing :P
Could use some audio/music though
To be perfectly honest, i don't know what i'm doing in the game
its pretty funny tho, nice entry
These graphics are really cute! The music is good too.
I like the screenshake (AKA the gamedev's secret weapon) but I did feel a lack of control while playing, which I don't know the cause of tbh. It's very challenging though, and it kinda gives off a SNES vibe for me.
Good work!
Also, what's with the options button? It doesn't seem to do anything.
Woaaaaaahhh, this art is amazing.
The audio is really loud and a bit repetitive, but the game itself is really fun. However you animated those tentacles beats me, I would've had a *really* hard time with that.
On the surface, Motherflipin' T-Rex! looks like your average made-with-Unity Ludum Dare shovelware. But underneath that, is one of the biggest revolutions the medium has ever seen. Funny, smart, deep, timeless. Read on to find out why this stands as one of the finest Ludum Dare games of all time, or indeed, one of the finest video games of all time.
You play as a T-Rex, a dinosaur which is very well known. The gameplay is simple; you need to destroy as many humans as possible including their land and property. It sounds simple, but between the deep physics engine, top of the line graphics, professionally designed sound effects, the gameplay is top-notch, making the likes of Metal Gear Solid pale in comparison.
This is the best entry yet. If you won't take my word for it then let the in-game sound effects do the talking.
Thank you for this creation, mantis.
Nice font choice! If anybody else is wondering, it's 'Raleway'
Yeah I honestly don't know what to say about this. It was interesting but in all honesty I think you tried really hard to go into an artsy direction. Or maybe I'm just not getting it?
It was damn impressive though, I can't imagine what the code for this must've been like.
Amazing art/graphics, always as expected from you bitslap!
Reminds me a lot of frogtale and I really like the little lighting effect
The camera feels a bit jittery and some of the more important objects (shotgun, hoe, etc) blend in with the environment too much to be noticeable at the start of the game.
Other than that, the graphics were really cute (always as expected from you, rxi!) and the music was very moodsetting as well.
It's an interesting take on the survival genre and the atmosphere is great. I kept dying but this game is good at sucking you in again :D
Like rnlf said I also think the viewport is kinda small for 1080p displays but it isn't bad enough to get distracting.
Do you use some specific engine to make these games or do you start from scratch each time? This and your last game have really similar physics/camera movement.
This reminds me a lot of the little handheld games I would play as a child. This is very relaxing! The art is a little hard to see on 1080p displays but the game was still fun none-the-less. I got stuck on one of the levels though. I don't think it might've been a bug with the game, it was probably just me not doing it correctly.
Very relaxed, 4/5. The music also helped a lot.
Here's some of my gameplay footage (720p30fps):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aN1dcujiKjg
I remember playing your little demos of this in IRC the other night! Feels good to finally be able to play it.
Lindar's music for the game is absolutely phenomenal, very relaxing. You've done a great job at polishing the hell out of this as well! The concept is really simple but that's the beauty of it.
The game itself made me feel some chills from how calming it was. This would work very well as a mobile phone/tablet game for waiting rooms.
Fixed! Will add some more screenshots here in a moment.
There is sound. Are you not getting audio?
Ah, okay, thanks!
Did you make sure to extract the zip before running, and to include the data/ & res/ folders with the game?
I'm not near a Linux machine at the moment, so there might be a few bugs for that platform. I can test it on my laptop later when I have time.
I'm working on a build that fixes this problem.
Just a reminder that I've fixed the Linux issue. Have fun everybody!
Very fun! This graphics style is really impressive, no idea how you managed to pull that off in only 48 hours.
The gameplay reminds me a lot of stuff like this from Super Mario Sunshine: http://i.imgur.com/9VWVEzl.jpg
This is really well polished, great work. The directions did take a while to figure out though.
Here's some gameplay footage I took (720p60fps):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ytL2hH3DR88
5/5 the fuckin M is for MASTERPIECE
for real though i think you were trying to copy this i think https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QdNo-nxc9uc
Very nice graphics!
typewriter effect is a bit too slow, but at the same time the font is absolutely beautiful
very funny as well
Very simple, but after seeing you in IRC so long talking about the trouble you've been having with this I don't really mind :)
Some gameplay footage I recorded (720p60fps):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fefaOYKAxdg
Very nice Jwatt! I've been hyping this up in irc for a bit >_>
Very creative concept and the music is jammin' like seriously god damn i can't stop tapping my foot right now
This game is tiny. Like, *really* tiny. I can barely see it.
You should make a version that's scaled up 2x. That'd make it easier for people with bad vision and/or high dpi displays.
Anyways, when I play it with Windows Magnifier on, it's actually pretty fun :)
I've been hyping this up after seeing all the GIFs you've been posting on the twitters! Glad to see you've finish it.
Amazing art, felt very relaxed.
Very solid for a web game
Reminds me a lot of Super Monkey Ball!
Very fun, no idea why you aren't proud of this. The art could use some work but the gameplay makes up for it.
Groovy soundtrack, game needs scaling because i can't read anything on screen at all
