4/5 Didn't know bunnys were monster

ybalrid 2015-08-24 04:29

I knew bunnies were dangerous! Since Monty Python and the Holy Grail, but never expected beeing one

namrog84 2015-08-24 04:34

crush the cardboard boxes!

strd6 2015-08-24 04:46

The web link is a link to a zip which contains a windows version, couldn't play it in my web browser :(

dosmaen 2015-08-24 04:50

Sorry about that Daniel, I fixed it. Thought I had put it in the Windows section.

markoburzan27 2015-08-24 04:53

great game loved it 5/5.

bodsey 2015-08-24 05:47

No way to play on Mac :/

dosmaen 2015-08-24 06:02

bodsey, I added the source so if you download that folder and open it up in love 0.8 it should work for you on the mac. I'd prepackage but I don't own one myself.

enrymion 2015-08-24 06:14

Nice but the super slow move speed and lack of fullscreen(afaik, alt+enter doesn't do it) make me sad.

gaius-baltar 2015-08-24 06:30

I get an error when I press the up and down buttons in the help menu.

xx12twisty12xx 2015-08-24 06:34

Pretty good. I feel like it should be a bit more challenging and got a bit repetitive, but the graphics and animation were great!

insality 2015-08-24 06:36

wow! i am so surprised, when zombie has attacked me from a box ;)
sweety game about destroying boxes!

slashee-the-cow 2015-08-24 06:37

If I click the up or down arrows on the help screen, it just gives me an error! It's not really clear how the items work (I mean, the descriptions are fine, but even after playing it a couple of times I'm only somewhat sure that you click the button and it increases your stats... right?). I didn't get any meat (which means my plays were rather short) and the movement speed is way too slow.

Still, the graphics work perfectly, the battle theme is awesome and OMG THAT BUNNY IS HEADED RIGHT AT ME WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE

gaius-baltar 2015-08-24 06:37

Why am I a rabbit?
Fun game though, could use a tutorial or some general guidelines.

dosmaen 2015-08-24 07:40

I will fix the crashes with the help menu, thank you for the feedback on that. I knew I forgot to test something...

Do you guys think this is something I should continue to develop? I've always wanted to do a game that was a roguelike and jrpg combo. Of course, I would probably overhall the combat completely.

Ligh7zIncrement 2015-08-24 10:02

Enjoyed it but nearly had a heart attack when the combat music suddenly played. 160/60 Would have this heart rate again.

jelinib 2015-08-25 00:34

So this is where all the lost packages go! I see no other explanation for why there are boxes lying around in a mystical forest! :P

I fairly enjoyed hopping around as a cute little killer bunny, and I've always loved running around opening treasure chests in RPGs. Well done your first Ludum Dare!

orion_black 2015-08-26 00:12

Congrats on finishing your first entry.

dosmaen 2015-08-26 04:04

Thank you orion.

djfariel 2015-08-26 07:50

1st Thought:
"Holy mother of god, I need new pants"
(What I said when the battle music abruptly started for the first time)

Pros: Has the potential to be a fun little dungeon crawler type game.
Art/ music were ok.

Cons:
Menu was fairly sloppy, but it wasn't confusingly so.
The whole Killer Bunny thing could have fit the "You are the monster" theme, but I feel like there wasn't enough present to support this.

Overall:
Has potential. I would be curious to see what you did with this, given more time. Looking forward to seeing your entry for LD34 :)

guoboism 2015-08-26 08:59

It is a little rogue-like crawler game! Hard coding work!

dosmaen 2015-08-27 02:06

I appreciate your commentary, djfariel. The menu was done very sloppy, i did rush it but I was trying to get it as feature complete as I could in the time frame that was allotted to me. Thank you djfariel and guoboism. <3

kaiseangames 2015-08-27 04:29

Neat little game.

kaype 2015-08-27 04:29

The zelda styled art / top down perspective is pretty cute, i like the general vibe of it.

Good first entry.

nowandstudios 2015-08-30 11:14

The music of battle scared me the 1st time xD. It's an original concept!

minibobbo 2015-08-30 18:56

Nice animation of the bunny. I also felt that you moved a little slow and the combat was random. I had three attacks and I'm not sure what the difference was.

This is a great first time entry!

retrogradeorbit 2015-09-04 12:55

Yep. Deep existential dread.

taro 2015-09-06 01:09

It feels like there were a lot more planned for this game. It's really difficult to play. There's so little meat in the game to recover from, and nearly all the boxes I've encountered had monsters.

Definitely felt strange that the overworld doesn't have music. Additionally, the UI can be a little confusing as well. I frequently mistaken the enemy health to my own, for example.

Hope to see some improvements on this. It looks like it could blossom to a fleshed out game.

dosmaen 2015-09-09 13:44

@Omiya Games - I did have a lot planned, including attacks that actually did different things besides a basic attack and for monsters to be visible on the screen. Unfortunately, I spent too much time planning and not enough time doing.

But I made something and it's kind of playable! I think that is an accomplishment in itself, at least for me. :P

jupiter_hadley 2015-10-20 14:23

Neat game. I included it in my Ludum Dare 33 Compilation video series, if you would like to take a look :) https://youtu.be/wEgI5I5KLKY
