I have rated your game The biggest problem I had was with the controls. I'm used to having a separate key for jumping. Since jump was mapped to the up key it actually made it harder to complete the puzzles in a fast enough manner. It was a cute concept, and I liked how you tried to vary the puzzles. I"m sorry I couldn't get it to be captured on the stream properly.

I have rated your game I am not quite sure if there is more to the game than just shooting the Snakemen. Did the forest do anything or benefit the player? I found the best strategy to run away into the horizon, then turn around and shoot and run more. I have a feeling this is not the strategy you had in mind. I struggled to figure out the controls, and just kept getting electrocuted over and over again. Once I learned how to pick up and interact with objects there instructions were not clear. I got myself soft locked a few times when the buttons were in the way of the sphere and so it rolled off the table. There was also a point where I followed the directions and still was shot at what seemed to just be out of the researchers pleasure. I'm sorry I couldn’t get it to be captured on the stream properly.

We had a technical glitch, so I'm not sure if it was captured well. The controls were a little hard to figure out at first, and the customers didn't wait nearly long enough for me to figure out what I wanted to do. I think it might have worked better if I have multiple couriers that I was loading up with items to sell. If there was a cop that watched me and had a random chance to intercept deliveries then that might allow the player to focus on packing the deliveries properly to meet the very rapid pace of demand. Another option is to reduce the span time of the people looking to buy, and also reduce their impatience meter. While I would make decisions about what to load and take precious seconds selecting the item, they recipient would often disappear. Another suggestion is to make the line, that indicates which customer or product you are selecting, should be thicker and bolder to make it easier to identify which one is selected. Again thank you for sharing, and I'm sorry if the gameplay didn't get recorded.

I know some people that are depressed and suicide with them is not about manipulating others. I wish that there was music as I read the story. It would have polished the experience. The art is very well done. I do not understand how the theme was applied. It didn't quite feel like I was running out of space at all. I hated the ending. I didn't get any resolution, and it left me frustrated. Playing I was just clicking on next, and there were no choices I had to make. In visual novels, I often get to make decisions, and for this, I was just consuming a story instead of interacting. I don't think it qualifies as a game. I've seen some other Visual Novels in the Ludum Dare that did incorporate the theme and had some player agency, so I think I'll have to rate you down for not meeting these. I had never heard of Ren Py before. Is it easy to use? I noticed that you didn't have a web version of the game. I would have enjoyed it more if I didn't have to download and install it. This would have been nice to read on my tablet or phone. Thank you for submitting your novel. I know that writing a cohesive story in 72 hours must have been a challenge.

Instead of delivering on a solid mechanic many of the elements were not implemented leaving the finished product not very playable. There was too much going on, and it would have worked better if you scaled down to focus on just collecting one item and did a score attack instead of adding in the recipes. Start small with adding all the necessary parts for a player to collect an item, and then either add multiplayer or allow a player to collect more items to complete recipes. You spent too much time making everything pretty and not enough time making and testing a level. This game would have been just as good with cube placeholders until an artist swaps out the asset on the third day after you made sure the mechanics are solid. You had character design, but you should have focused more on level design.

It didn't get me enough responsiveness to place the items exactly how I wanted, and so the timer added more stress as I tried to put everything in its optimal place. The timer added too much pressure to place everything during the treasure phase. I often wanted to adjust the positions after the treasure destroyed items, or while walking between enemies, but it was locked in. I feel like it would have been better if I had pieces appear in the middle and I had to move each one to a location as similar to how Tetris gives you one piece at a time. I was not given enough time to make meaningful choices about want I would like to or not like to keep, and once I did have time to review what was in my inventory I had no way to destroy things I didn't want to keep. The graphics are nice, and I like how the whole theme of the game was incorporated into the design. However, the gameplay struggles since neither the idle game or inventory puzzle have been fully fleshed out. In idle games, I'm given the opportunity to take actions while hero's continue, and in puzzle games, I'm given enough time to make decisions. It was not transparent how much I would need to defeat enemies, only that I should have high Magic or Melee numbers. While I wanted to prepare for an upcoming level while at the campfire, I couldn't always see what was up ahead. The only time I had to see and react to things that were further in the level was during the treasure phase, but that didn't give me enough time to evaluation, place, and respond to what was coming up ahead. I hope you keep working on this game. If the timing for sorting treasure was balanced better, I think it could be a very solid game.

The mechanics were a little different, and the icons were not always the clearest on what they would do. I still do not know why the purple drops removed one of the pieces of your body. I didn't understand what would make the briers start to grow, but once they did, I would get cut off quite quickly. They served as a sort of timer. I just wish they were more predictable. I found myself having to hold the mouse button to continue hearing the conversations with my partner. After the first conversation I tried to move the item to the correct emoticon, but it physically moved the object instead of registering the memory to the way I wanted to sort it. I think I was too kind. I was trying to sort the memories of happiness towards positive, and the memories of anger and violence toward the negative. I wasn't sure if I was getting rid of these memories, or instead rating them to select a mood for the end of the experience. I saw another similar visual novel where I need to read a memory and decide to keep or forget it, but that doesn't seem to be the actions I'm taking here. I liked the details you put into the story. I wish it were more evident how much of the conversation was left. A few times I decided on an item quite quickly and wasn't sure if there was more to the discussion that I missed and would impact future decisions. With a voice actor, I think you could create a compelling story. I like how you captured the dialogue with the colored text.

I really wish there was a key to reset the level, so if you mess up the puzzle you can start over. I didn't get to the part where I was running out of space. This feels mostly like a simulation of computer hardware. The graphics and sounds solidly reminded me of the DIY 1980s computer in your garage hobbyist.

I like the graphics theme. You said you didn't have much time to work on the game, so you focused on making simple crisp graphics that would allow you to focus on the mechanics of the game, and make it feel right. The addition of the sound effects and gentle background music are nice pieces of polish that allow you to make this feel like a complete game. I will have to check out your older game if this what you can create in 8 hours.

If you'd just used cubes and colors it wouldn't have been as much fun. The graphics really bumped up the experience. The physics were well done, and the colliders felt great. I only wish the consoles came in through the same side each time so I could time the deployment better, when it was coming from the left it was harder for me to determine where the console would land on the stack.
Aug 29 07:56:09 36m 26s Chambers ♥ 1 I don't know if I found a glitch, or it was as intended, but on a few occasions, I found myself in a room with no doors, just brick walls. I would walk around the room looking for a way out, and if I stood perpendicular to where I thought an entry should be, there would sometimes be a door. I stayed in one of these rooms for about 10 minutes on the clock and waited to see if the cat thing would come into the room, but it did not. I wanted to report this in case this is a bug of which you are not aware. I didn't determine what the goal of the experience was. I outran the cat, but it didn't seem like there was a set time which would end the game. I walked around and tried to pick up objects but when I walked over things I got no confirmation that I'd picked an item up. I expected to press a key to pick it up or hear a sound when it was collected. I also would have liked a confirmation to appear on the screen to communicate what item was picked up, and maybe give me a clue as to why I wanted to pick it up in the first place. What is the goal of this experience? Is there something I need to find to complete the experience, or is it just a time attack for how long you can last running away from the cat thing? Thank you for sharing your game.

I tried to click and drag items, but they didn't respond. I tried to click the button multiple times quickly, and it resulted in my adventuring Danny Devito dying but continuing to fight the enemy. Is this the expected result? I'm curious what the basic game mechanics were going to be. Where are you going to add a limit to the number of items allowed in your inventory? Did the results of the Adventure have any effect on the inventory? If you died would you still get loot, or would that result in a game over? I found it difficult to scroll through the items in the inventory. There is a way to click on the scroll bar itself and move your mouse to the bottom of the window without I scrolling to the bottom of the list. I was able to get it to move by using the toggle, however, ran into the same issue when I tried to scroll to the top. I hope you keep working on this post jam. There have been a handful of inventory management games, and I'd like to see how you interpreted the theme.

I didn't feel a sense of danger as much as annoyance at how slow the chair moved. I liked how you let the player figure out what was going on, but once I watched one cycle of the traps I could see the pattern, and I just needed to time things right to succeed. Once I finished, I expected there to be more. I had assumed that I was merely on a training level and that was why there was no danger. I think the idea was pretty unique. I've seen many puzzles, but no QWOP type puzzles. I hope you add more levels in the future.

One thing that didn't work very well was that the room scale was set up so that I had to move out of my physical location and tripped on items in the real world. It would have worked better to have both walls pushing into the player rather than forcing the player to keep stepping backward out of the space. I had issues tripping over things as I backed up to keep from being crushed by the wall. I like the color locking when you placed the pieces, but wish there was other feedback to help me know audibly when I got the piece in the correct location. The wall moved towards me at too fast of a pace. I didn't have time to look at the pieces and determine what actions I wanted to take before the wall had moved into my personal space. It would have worked better to have a starting room where the player could look around and physically move to the location that was most comfortable, then when they picked up the first piece the wall would move. In VR it's very common to need to start the program, put on the headset move into the proper position, and then be ready to play. By beginning the experience immediately, you didn't give the player time to get into the experience properly. Like others have said before, more levels would be nice, especially if you slow the pace that the wall moves towards you. Realize in VR when someone's feeling claustrophobic they are likely to physically move the area that doesn't make them feel so compressed, even if that is outside of their chaperone boundaries. For an experience like this, the player should be gently crushed instead of pushed to one side of the room. Picking up the objects felt natural, and putting them into the slots felt natural. When you are polishing, adding sound can improve any VR experience. You can find free foley sounds that have wood creeks or metal machinery. This can enhance the player's feeling that they are in a physical space and reinforce the tension of the wall crushing in. Play around with different types of ambient music. You might find background music labeled for horror if you want the player to feel anxious, or look for things with water, wind, or woodwind instruments to make the play feel more at ease and be able to focus on the puzzle at hand. I recommend playing different songs while you play to the game so you can get a sense of what you'd like before adding the music directly into the experience. Also, make sure you layer sounds. Have a background sound, and something tied to the moving wall, AND random sounds from the environment like wind, murmurs, or shutting doors. I wasn't clear if I needed to place the bunnies in the middle or the edge of the growth to stop the spread. When more animals were added in, it wasn't clear how they would effect things. Do any of the animals create regrowth? It never seemed to be possible to win, as you have two spawn points for the seed in the beginning, and even if you placed bunnies every time the growth continued. What is the end game? Is this just a time attack where you need to see how many days you can last?
Aug 31 18:21:37 23h 21m DETRITUS ♥ 2 I was surprised at how good this game looked. I'm not very good at this type of play. I tended to move forward and backwards while shooting, which worked ok. When I went to turn the ship, I felt like I wasn't entirely in control. Was the boundary closing in? I couldn't tell if the area was shrinking to fit the theme, or if it stayed the same. If you work on this after LD, I hope that you add voice narration. Even if it were a UI overlay like the classic Starfox, it would be good to immerse the player in what is going on in the world.
Aug 31 18:45:48 24m 11s Day Three ♥ 0 At first, I thought the instructions were telling me to stay in the house on day 3, but that ended up with dead plants, and then the bird came and shat on me. I wish the directions would have encouraged me to walk around more so I would have known to distract the bird instead of hiding. In this game, it's more important to protect the plants than to hide. I liked the predictable pattern. Day 1 walk around, Day 2 Dog trader visits, Day 3 Bird attacks. I wish the dog always gave you one free seed. Once the bird killed my seeds, I couldn't get leaves so that I couldn't buy more seeds and the game changed to just me running around on the third day and waiting for Day 1 and Day 2 to end. Upon my second playthrough, I tried to be more strategic about using the seeds, but I only had enough leaves to buy one more seed each time the dog appeared. I was frequently left with 3 extra leaves, which were worthless. I also made the mistake of pressing z instead of x to water a plant, and it destroyed it. I wish it would have put the seed back in my inventory instead. It was so painful to accidentally lose a plant like that because then I had no chance of purchasing more seeds from the dog. At the rate I was going I am not even sure if it is possible to buy the more expensive plants. Maybe I made too many mistakes by letting one of my plants die early in the game, but it didn't feel good to have no hope of improving my situation. I was staunching the floodgates, keeping the status quo, hoping I don't slip up and make a tiny mistake that will cost me my life.
