That is a big window! Don't see the right on my screen, but can play.

It is a fun mix between [Radical Dungeon Sweeper](https://benjamin-soul.itch.io/rds) and card games that are in vogue.

Graphics are cool, the rise in power is working well and strategic choices are really important.

Congratulations!

This is a really cool idea! The graphics are lovely and really fit the game.

As said above, the window is really big! So I couldn't see the right/bottom of the screen.

I found it quite difficult to be concentrating on both moving around, avoid enemies and what card I had drawn as there's a lot going on! I think the controls didn't help. Maybe changing the card slots to be 1/2/3/4 rather than Z/X/C/V would help as it would make it more akin to traditional hotbar controls.

Also I wasn't sure what all the items in the tiles were for. Could I pick them up or do anything with them?

Anyway really nice game. Great work!

I like the way you went about this, I also adore the art style! Cool Concept, well implemented great job! :ok_hand:

This is a really cool idea, beautiful pixel art graphics and a good variety of items/skills/cards (whatever you prefer to call them). It took me a minute to get used to the controls but after that I had a lot of fun with it, great work.

Hey there! Great job on the game. I am a big sucker for deck building games so I was filled with glee when I saw that someone made a deck builder. I wish there was a guide to explain the rules of the game because its very hard to just pick up and go and understand how everything works and your goal for each level. I wish there was some audio for the game as well. I think you did very well with the graphics for the game and the core concept is awesome! Good job again :)

Man, this was great.

although it didn't fit the theme all that well, this kind of meta-inventory kind of thing always interests me, and it was really well implemented here.

Little design choices like the way items took damage from area attacks, and that you could pick up the coins before they turned into enemies, and that you could crush enemies with pushed items, really helped propel it from a reasonably good implementation of an idea, to a well polished and fun to play game.

The art was also phenomenal, good job with that.

Overall, a great entry.

Really fun to play, but I was unsure about how I was running out of space.

superpokeunicorn 2018-08-14 20:21

This game's pretty neat. Having to adapt to the different cards I was drawing forced me to think on the fly, which was fun, and I like the variety of cards on display. Alternating between combat and shopping gave the game a nice pacing. I like the pixel art style and the little enemies look cute, although the lack of sound was a bit disappointing. That aside, this is a very solid game that I had a lot of fun playing. Nice work!

Neat little game. Great take not only on the deckbuilding genre in general but also on the theme. The artwork is surprisingly polished and the gameplay engaging (although I found it tough to control with the mouse).

It would have been neat to be able to control the decks with a more reasonable hotkey layout. Regardless, great game, and I think there is some potential here. On a side note pressing escape seems to trigger some kind of debugging thing where I could get lots of gold. Not sure if that was intended or whatever.

Anyway, really good job.

This is great! Fun deckbuilder love how your deck also shapes the level. Like other people have said the window is so big that parts of it get cut off on the edges, but for the most part I was still able to play. My only other gripe is the push ability seemed a little finicky when pushing your card blocks. Still really cool and well executed idea! I could really see this as a full fledged product on steam or as a mobile game even!

uncannyvalley 2018-08-14 23:43

Wow, after I figured out exactly what to do, I really enjoyed this! It engaged me- and I love the idea of only having a series of limited, cycling actions to use. It made me think harder about how I was going to approach. AMAZING job!

I agree with most of the comments people have already made. This is playable and a wonderful looking game, but I think it could have benefited from a little clearer instructions.

I really liked the graphics and the animations were very smooth. I also had trouble seeing the entire screen, but after I changed the view levels in Windows 10 it worked ok. I liked how you could damage your own cards by hitting them on the game board. The concept was excellent!

simplepotential 2018-08-15 23:19

Not bad. Better instructions would definitely have helped but once I realized I could use zxcv I got much better.

chkkll 2018-08-16 01:53

Innovative take on deck building, really enjoyed playing. Also fits the theme so well with your inventory filling up with more cards you have, so you need to push, arrange or discard to make space. Great mechanic!

jamesolivermusic 2018-08-16 10:39

Beautiful graphics and a unique concept. I'm disappointed that there's no music/sound! That could've added so much more to the game. Also, some in-game instructions would help players understand better. Excellent work though, keep at it!

kokonaught 2018-08-17 21:36

Gorgeous game, it takes a few tries to get used to the mechanics but it's a really fun experience. Not so sure how it exactly fits the theme, and it's a shame you don't have any music or sound fx with that level of polish on everything else. Loved it anyway!

matank 2018-08-18 04:37

Really liked the idea! It took me a while to understand the relation between the cards and the objects on screen, would be nice if that was telegraphed better within the game.

I had lots of fun playing it!

randomphantom 2018-08-18 11:45

It seems like a cool idea, but needs quite a bit of explaining as I was stuck at the buy cards section without an idea. Feels a little clunky to play too with having to click the cards while controlling your character. Great job for experimenting with a two incompatible genre setup though! Gameplay is solid, pixel graphics are top-notch. The coins change into flames a little too fast for me.

impbox 2018-08-18 14:05

@randomphantom yeah, the more explanation would have been good, especially with the shop. I play with the keyboard (z,x,c,v or h,j,k,l), but the mouse was there as an option.

impbox 2018-08-18 14:07

@matank I think this was one of the hardest things about making this game, trying to make the cards and items be connected, it's only important sometimes, kinda. It was very experimental and I think in retrospect I'd avoid that choice and it's super difficult to convey to a player.

saoi-games 2018-08-21 06:02

I"m not sure if you are aware, but on the HTML5 version when you press esc it just increased the gold.

I was trying to exit out of full screen and was surprised at the "feature"

impbox 2018-08-21 14:33

@saoi-games yep! thanks I'm aware, forgot to remove it before releasing, it was handy when wanting to quickly test out new cards during dev.

2018-09-03 16:34

Very good start! I included it in my compilation video series of the Ludum Dare 42 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://youtu.be/CCzYoSZIQ24

strega 2018-09-04 00:08

Interesting game! Liked the sprite work and animations! The combat was a bit frantic for me since it is real time and you need to read the cards are and remember the key mapping, maybe if it was turned based it would have been more strategical and manageable for me.
