| Jul 31 19:08:10 | Battery Pack | ♥ 1 | I liked the quirky, hand-drawn graphics, and the death-screen comments were funny. | |
| Jul 31 19:15:23 | 7m 13s | Hungry Sky | ♥ 1 | The strangely beautiful graphics really enhanced the mood. I also like how your avatar slows down when they're swimming, and the lightning effects are great. |
| Jul 31 19:24:16 | 8m 53s | Olafshot | ♥ 0 | Initially I found it quite difficult, but then I think I found an exploit in that you can camp in the middle of the screen, letting enemies pile up, then just shoot them to get their batteries. However, I see where you were going with the mechanic and the game was literally on theme! |
| Jul 31 19:34:09 | 9m 53s | Back Home | ♥ 0 | It is nice to see someone who thinks about their audience by repeating the help text above each item. I liked the animations on the generators and the look of the main character. Also, I liked that the Dr Who-ish sound effect when the enemies killed me. |
| Jul 31 19:40:04 | 5m 55s | Cyclades Travelling Sailor | ♥ 1 | I really like the way that this looks. If you develop this further, perhaps throwing in a bit of Greek music and a some more variety, then you'd have a great little game that's ideal for mobile. As I write this, my wife is sitting behind me telling me that she'd probably play it on mobile as it's her kind of game. |
| Jul 31 19:53:25 | 13m 21s | Quoala | ♥ 1 | The audio on this is very good, contributing greatly to the atmosphere. You've really managed to capture the dynamic of driving while married! I enjoyed this very much. |
| Jul 31 20:03:15 | 9m 50s | Fluffy Racer | ♥ 1 | I liked the intro and the art style very much. Nicely presented. However, I did have to reassure my daughter that no unicorns were harmed in the making of this game... right? |
| Jul 31 20:21:00 | 17m 45s | Exponential Maintenance Engineer | ♥ 1 | This was more than satisfying to play, and the fact that it gave me high scores didn't hurt either (self + 1, spouse + 1). I enjoyed this very much - it has that "one more go" feeling, and it would be interesting to see what would happen if you developed it further. |
| Jul 31 20:32:52 | 11m 52s | Smash ball | ♥ 1 | Smashing into things was fun, and I like the minimalist graphics. The camera went underneath the world at one point, which made things a bit confusing. |
| Jul 31 20:46:48 | 13m 56s | Breathless Parks - Running, out of Power | ♥ 2 | Looks great! On my first go I almost won, but on subsequent attempts my fingers were too tired. This reminds me of all those old games such as Daley Thompson's Decathlon. [Daley Thompson's Decathlon](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aXzboR3encQ). |
| Jul 31 20:59:03 | 12m 15s | Jerry The Donut Eating Engine Driver | ♥ 1 | At one point, while trying to stuff myself with donuts, I fell off the back of the train and fell into a deep blue void in which I could dance and look left and right while regretting my life choices. I like the graphics and I was chuffed to hear the train sounds. |
| Aug 1 20:06:17 | 23h 07m | Dear Leader's Love Powered Peace Bomb | ♥ 1 | This is reminiscent of 1942. The music was great, and I liked the shadows beneath all of the main sprites. Your sense of humour is interesting: I wonder how well it would translate to North Korea! |
| Aug 1 20:13:04 | 6m 47s | lit | ♥ 1 | It's good to see someone having a go at making a procedurally generated random maze, particularly one that gets larger and more difficult as you progress through the levels. You implemented this quite well. The graphics were simple, but effective, but I found it quite easy to play. Nice work! |
| Aug 1 20:22:34 | 9m 30s | Power Struggle | ♥ 1 | I was glad to see a different take on the theme - this was not what I expected, which was a good thing. I agree with @zelos's comment that it felt a bit like solving an equation, but there is definitely strategy involved in trying to do well. |
| Aug 1 20:32:01 | 9m 27s | Buzzy Bee | ♥ 1 | There were some nice touches in there. I liked the attention to detail, such as making the mouse cursor a bee even before you started playing the game, and the little buzzing noises. I wouldn't last very long as a bee though. |
| Aug 1 20:38:24 | 6m 23s | A Dwindling Hero | ♥ 0 | You chose a good way to interpret the theme. I was torn between knowing which power to lose between each level, which I guess was the whole point. Perhaps you could add a "difficult" mode in which the power that you lose is chosen randomly. |
| Aug 1 20:50:06 | 11m 42s | daemon | ♥ 1 | The look and feel of this game was good, although I would have preferred a larger screen. The audio worked very well with the game's theme and the swinging sword animation was on point. I did find the game rather difficult though. |
| Aug 1 20:57:18 | 7m 12s | Powerless: Trump Teaches Typing | ♥ 2 | I'm fairly sure that this is going to win for humour. I feel that the game started a little hard and could do with being a bit more fair and balanced. |
| Aug 2 19:15:52 | 22h 18m | Power Defense! | ♥ 1 | Argh, are my fingers tired or what! The sound was good, but there were times that I could barely hear it over the mashing of my keyboard. |
| Aug 2 19:23:12 | 7m 20s | Cities | ♥ 1 | Well, this was a bit different. I particularly liked the simple, effective, monochrome art style, the sounds were appropriately menacing, and the core mechanic of the game was original. I would have like it to be a bit more obvious which light I was controlling at any one time, but all in all this was a fantastically original take on the theme that was well executed. |
| Aug 2 19:36:32 | 13m 20s | Gradient Descent | ♥ 0 | Very nice music - probably the best that I've heard so far. The text in the game had a bit of a melancholic feel to it, but at the same time the sounds and the visuals made the game quite relaxing to play. |
| Aug 2 19:41:11 | 4m 39s | Titan LD39 Compo | ♥ 1 | It's probably my old-man reactions, but I found this to be quite difficult to control (keyboard). However, the concept is good and I liked the stylish graphics. |
| Aug 2 19:49:17 | 8m 06s | Minor Jump | ♥ 1 | This plays very smoothly, and the lighting effects are great. On my first run through, I didn't find any lamps and died quickly. On my second run through, I was so pleased to find several lamps in a row that I fell off a platform and lost a lot of progress. It's a shame that there's no music, but overall this was a good, solid effort. |
| Aug 2 19:57:30 | 8m 13s | Power Sphere | ♥ 1 | The game looks beautiful, although there are a couple of bugs. For instance, at one point it told me there were no enemies alive even though I was surrounded by what felt like about twenty of them. I think a bit of feedback on what was going on, even if it was just through rudimentary sound effects, would have added greatly to the feel of the game... and as others have said, the player needs to move more quickly. |
| Aug 2 20:06:48 | 9m 18s | Jetpack June and the Tower of Power | ♥ 1 | I suck so badly at playing this game, but it's reminiscent of Super Meat Boy in terms of gameplay and Commander Keen in terms of looks. The levels seem to be very well thought out, and I always felt that when I died it was my fault. All it needs is a jolly 16-bit tune and it'll be good to go. |
| Aug 2 20:13:56 | 7m 08s | Dauntless Run | ♥ 1 | Well, this definitely had a touch of the one-more-go about it. I particularly liked how you made it very easy to restart rather than dumping me back to a title screen, so of course I kept trying again and again. I like it. |
| Aug 2 20:24:48 | 10m 52s | Flip The Switch | ♥ 1 | Fantastic idea. It would have been better if it was clearer how to make circuits, but once I figured it out, I thought it was quite a good game - definitely scoring high for innovation. |
| Aug 2 20:33:22 | 8m 34s | Veggie Power | ♥ 1 | Ha ha! I like how the game blamed me at the end. I never realised that burgers could be so violent. The graphics worked very well, and the game mechanic was interesting. Tower Defence with fast food and fairies - who knew? |
| Aug 2 20:47:59 | 14m 37s | < Mr. Plug > | ♥ 2 | This has a cute, cartoony style to it. I like your attention to detail. I think the right music would add greatly to the feel of the game. |
| Aug 3 19:20:17 | 22h 32m | Electric Car | ♥ 2 | The car noises were good, and you seemed to put batteries in good places. There were several times when I was almost out of power and I'd find one just in time, although eventually my luck ran out. |
| Aug 3 19:31:25 | 11m 08s | Corrupted | ♥ 0 | It would be interesting to see if you develop this further, because the game has a lot of potential. It's certainly original, and I'm glad that I played it. I agree with previous posters that the game needs audio, but it's a solid effort nonetheless. The writing really helped to set the tone of the game, so congratulations to the writer also. |
| Aug 3 19:40:11 | 8m 46s | CoolCoalGame | ♥ 1 | I enjoyed the humour, particularly the "You're fired" effect at the end. The chunky pixel graphics worked well with the fonts that you used, and the sounds were perfect for the game. |
| Aug 3 19:55:42 | 15m 31s | Highway to the Nearest Gas Station | ♥ 1 | That was strangely enjoyable, although the car runs out of power more frequently than an electric car. 1. I got to drive a car like a maniac without my wife getting cross with me. 1. I had the unusual (and amusing) experience of parking my car after running out of gas, getting out, then racing my car back down the hill when it started to roll. 1. The driving sounds are spot on. |
| Aug 3 20:12:12 | 16m 30s | Mech | ♥ 2 | It strikes me that it is quite difficult to make a cohesive text adventure in just a couple of days, so I'm quite impressed on that count. There were some nice little touches in there, particularly the brofist. Also, it's quite refreshing to play a text adventure without having to type, or curse the parser, or whatever else we had to do back in the old days. And no one sat down to start singing about gold. |
| Aug 3 20:22:34 | 10m 22s | Zombies 'n Kebabs | ♥ 1 | That was a good laugh. I enjoyed seeing the zombie ponies, the music was excellent, and you really captured the art style of Ghosts'n'Goblins. The fact that I could only play for a few seconds before dying reminded me of playing the real thing in the arcades before retreating to spend my hard gained 10p coins in something easier. |
| Aug 3 20:34:04 | 11m 30s | Ads will tell our Story for us | ♥ 1 | I rather enjoyed that, more than I expected to. It's simple, stylish and polished, and fun too. I could have done with more frequent save points, but that's a reflection on my lack of ability rather than on the game itself. Very nice indeed. |
| Aug 4 18:25:35 | 21h 51m | Temple of Illumination | ♥ 1 | Damn! That was Super Meat Boy good! I really enjoyed that. You tuned the levels to perfection, getting progressively harder with each level, making me feel that I was getting just a little better myself. There wasn't a level that I felt that I couldn't do with a bit of practice, although I did eventually get to one that had me stumped - for the time being. The music was spot on and suited the game. Very polished. Very nice. Damned good job. It was a pleasure to play and I wish that I could be more eloquent in my comments. |
| Aug 4 18:30:37 | 5m 02s | Tax Rebel | ♥ 1 | Like pacman with robotic ashes and path-finding! I actually quite liked the path-finding, as I didn't have to micro-manage every move the character made. It's a pity that you weren't able to develop it further in the time, but I get it - life gets in the way! |
| Aug 4 18:36:24 | 5m 47s | Fat Fireman | ♥ 1 | I liked the animation as the fireman's belly wobbled up and down when he ran. This game was funny, and a little bit different. I agree with @Ferminho's comments about the collision detection, but it was refreshing to see such an original idea. |
| Aug 4 18:45:25 | 9m 01s | Space Bear Panic | ♥ 1 | My wife was disappointed as she first read the title as Space Bear Picnic and had hoped to go down to the woods (that's _not_ a euphemism). The graphic style reminds me a little of [Deadly Rooms of Death](http://games4win.com/up/drod-architects-edition_1.jpg). Some fiendish level design there, but I feel it would have been better balanced if everything got just a little bit faster with time. |
| Aug 4 18:51:47 | 6m 22s | Mine Mouser | ♥ 1 | This would make a nice mobile game - it's a good little puzzler. My only real criticism is that the screen was a little small for my old eyes. The cat animation is great - I like how he/she appears to lick his/her lips at the end of each level. Just add some purring and miaowing and it'll be good to go. |
| Aug 4 18:59:46 | 7m 59s | Don't Click On Tiny Dudes! | ♥ 2 | The microphone thing didn't work for me, but I loved the chatty people and all the comments that they made, particularly when I clicked on them and they went flying through the air. Nice little animations too. |
| Aug 4 19:07:57 | 8m 11s | Run To Coal! | ♥ 0 | I kept getting stuck trying to escape from the engine after loading coal into it, and the main character's movement was quite "floaty". It would have been cool if there had been other hazards, such as the occasional bridge to duck under. I appreciated the distinctive graphical style. Keep at it. |
| Aug 4 19:13:03 | 5m 06s | The Wizard of Orb | ♥ 0 | I haven't given this a rating because unfortunately it crashed on returning to the main menu, then wouldn't restart after that. |
| Aug 4 19:23:21 | 10m 18s | Cranked 1911 | ♥ 1 | I really liked the look of the cars and the main character, and the idea of going to phone boxes to get missions. I think all of the events in the game need to be made more obvious though. For example, I wasn't sure that I'd actually got a mission at first, because there wasn't really any feedback telling me that other than some text at the top of the screen. Likewise when I died - the first time I didn't even realise that it had happened because the little man was still moving about, albeit being pushed by a car. If he stayed still and had blood of him, then it would have been a lot clearer. I appreciate these things take time though, and I really like how you implemented the cars. They had a lot of character. |
| Aug 4 19:45:08 | 21m 47s | Forgetting Things | ♥ 1 | I found it intriguing how the rules changed from level to level, although sometimes it took me a while to figure out what was going on. Soothing music! |
| Aug 5 13:33:44 | 17h 48m | Pickup all the power! | ♥ 1 | A well-executed, well-planned puzzler. The introductory level, spelling out how to play, was a good idea. I thought it was also clever how each individual room contributed towards a larger level. Nicely done. |
| Aug 5 13:40:35 | 6m 51s | Bolt World | ♥ 2 | This is reminiscent of Osmos. I like the core mechanic and you've implemented it well, although, admittedly I would have liked everything to move just that little bit faster. |
| Aug 5 13:49:17 | 8m 42s | Rocket Rescue | ♥ 1 | I enjoyed the death animation, which is perhaps just as well as I saw it rather often! I thought that the jet-pack was a bit on the slow side to react. The music was nice - I liked it. |
| Aug 5 14:01:23 | 12m 06s | KOCMOHaBT Spaceman | ♥ 1 | Very stylish! A mini-map, or compass, or something to give you a hint about the locations of the satellites would have helped in all those times that I found myself drifting through space without fuel. However, I liked the art style, the voiceovers, and I thought that the ethereal procedural music fit the theme very well. |
| Aug 5 14:06:49 | 5m 26s | Feel-o-clock | ♥ 1 | Too close to home! This is literally my life. 😄 (ok, what's the emoji code for Fap?) |
| Aug 5 14:24:33 | 17m 44s | Trump Card | ♥ 1 | It was good to see a political game that was good natured. I loved the golf with Putin, particularly having to get into my golf cart to drive just a few feet between strokes. The music was spot on and added greatly to the mood. Also, Kinder Eggs. Says it all! |
| Aug 5 14:32:47 | 8m 14s | Engines & Earl Grey | ♥ 1 | I was having a cup of tea and reviewing LD games when I found this one and played it until my tea went cold. It's a little gem: I really like the charming graphics, the music and the sound, and there were lots of other little details that elevated it into a fun little game. Very enjoyable. |
| Aug 5 14:42:27 | 9m 40s | Turtle's Quest | ♥ 1 | I liked the art, and there were some nice touches in the level design, such as forcing me to go into "shield mode" to solve problems. As others have said, the physics need a bit of tuning, as it was too easy to get stuck on the landscape and felt a bit floaty. However, it's a really good effort, particularly given the time constraints. |
| Aug 5 14:48:59 | 6m 32s | LD39:Running out of energy | ♥ 1 | Damn, that Energy Stealer is quick! There were several times when I would have just liked to have shot him, or at least bumped him out of the way. This has quite an old-school feel, which is fine by me! |
| Aug 5 14:57:19 | 8m 20s | Plug Me | ♥ 0 | Well, that was tough, but every time I died I thought it was my fault rather than the game's, as the controls were tight to a point of perfection. Using the energy bar as a platform was a very clever idea. This is an excellent little platformer. |
| Aug 5 15:54:51 | 57m 32s | HE BEAT HER. | ♥ 1 | Thought provoking! It is not common to find a meaningful game that's actually enjoyable to play (note enjoyable - fun would be the wrong word). I really liked the rewind-time mechanism, where you kept having to try again and again to get the information that you needed. It was a little frustrating sometimes, searching for the right word, but ... damn, this was powerful. This is a game that needs a wider audience and I hope that it finds it. |
| Aug 5 20:45:32 | 4h 50m | Power Tripping: Keeping It Cool | ♥ 0 | That's "an ice" game. It took a little while to figure out what to do, but it has a good mechanic. My wife also liked it. Very original. |
| Aug 5 20:55:45 | 10m 13s | Neopolitan Panic! | ♥ 1 | The way that I played it was more GTA for ice cream vans, and the way that it handled - well, let's say that I just did a lot of donuts when I was supposed to be delivering ice cream! However, this is an excellent game and a lot of fun. Great visuals, and lots of personality. |
| Aug 5 21:04:17 | 8m 32s | Flying Aces - Going the distance! | ♥ 2 | Even though there isn't a huge ton of gameplay yet, I spent a lot longer on this than I planned to. It's a sheer joy to fly that plane, particularly with the biplane sound effects. I'd love to play this more when it is done. |
| Aug 5 21:11:23 | 7m 06s | Coffee Hero: Powered by Coffee | ♥ 3 | Great graphics and a catchy tune. It took me a while to figure out what was going on, but that's because at my office we have to get our own coffee. Having said that, they do deliver pastries. |
| Aug 5 21:32:36 | 21m 13s | Kit Rocket | ♥ 0 | Capture1.PNGCapture2.PNG Best science kit I never bought. This was lots of fun. Gunpowder is the best by far. |
| Aug 5 21:51:38 | 19m 02s | Outside | ♥ 0 | That was a cruel puzzle, but ultimately VERY satisfying to complete. Excellent! |
| Aug 5 21:57:45 | 6m 07s | Breaking Down | ♥ 1 | I'm not sure what I was doing wrong, but I found it impossible to go up the ladders (using the keyboard). However, the look of the game is absolutely superb and the idea is fantastic. I just wish that I could have played it properly. |
| Aug 5 22:03:32 | 5m 47s | The Political Juggle | ♥ 1 | Mini-games were a good idea, but it would have been nicer to have more variety. That being said... 48 hours is not a lot of time, so credit to you for doing as many as you did. |
| Aug 6 07:53:46 | 9h 50m | Studentron | ♥ 0 | That was an original idea. The whole presentation was very cohesive and it felt very polished. I think it just needs a bit of tuning with respect to difficulty as it was quite difficult to get the assignments done in class. Looks great though. |
| Aug 6 08:35:41 | 41m 55s | Lost in Translation at Space | ♥ 4 | That was a lot of fun, and very amusing. Everything works really well. I hope that you make this into a larger game, because I want to see all those commuters sitting on the train bellowing "platypus" into their phones. 😁 My wife tells me that next time we go on a trip, she's going to give me directions using these commands. I'm not sure if I'll be able to tell the difference. |
| Aug 6 08:43:59 | 8m 18s | Solar Snoop's Star Trek | ♥ 2 | Fantastic intro and great presentation. It was a little difficult to see what the rapper was saying whilst trying to play the game and collect energy - shame that you couldn't rap that, as it would have been hilarious. |
| Aug 6 09:01:50 | 17m 51s | We Made A Game While Camping | ♥ 0 | So, I've learned that the most important person in a project is the gopher, otherwise no one else would get any work done. I liked the concept of combining things to make them work, as I kept going to see what I could do next. Very inventive. |
| Aug 6 09:09:30 | 7m 40s | Let's go to the mall | ♥ 1 | Man, my girlfriend is tearing up that mall. I hope that I'm not going to have to pay for all of that. I'm too old for this - I need to sit down! Why can't she just go shopping without me, or go online, or just leave me in a [pod](http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/blogs-news-from-elsewhere-40609115) where I can drink my latte and play games? |
| Aug 6 09:23:08 | 13m 38s | Batterycorp | ♥ 1 | I liked the 90s aesthetic, and it was good to see a story to link all of the puzzles together. |
| Aug 6 09:33:20 | 10m 12s | Noane's walk | ♥ 1 | I got to 12.5km then the game crashed. The voice acting was very amusing and made quite a difference to the game. |
| Aug 6 09:39:31 | 6m 11s | Tales of a Hamster: A Clickable Journey | ♥ 2 | For a clicker, this was great. The graphics and animations were so good that I left the game running while rating other games so that I could get to the next level without breaking my finger or mouse. Btw, poor Franklin! |
| Aug 6 09:49:16 | 9m 45s | Professional Protesters | ♥ 1 | The logic is a bit strange. If someone is a professional protester, and is getting paid to protest, then why are they protesting to get things that they can clearly afford. Surely buying your own laptop is easier than paying a bunch of protesters to do so. I also felt that the progression was a bit steep. Having said that, I can see where it is going, and it was an interesting idea. |
| Aug 6 10:05:21 | 16m 05s | End of Time | ♥ 1 | It felt a lot like an office job. It was effective at simulating the too much to do, not enough time. It was interesting to see such a range of decision making, and it all fell on me. The only criticism is that the same questions came up multiple times. |
| Aug 7 18:47:58 | 32h 42m | NOT ALONE | ♥ 1 | "Hey, who turned out the light?" I enjoyed that. The jump scares with the monsters reminded me of late-seventies Dr Who. Your game is really creepy and effective. |
| Aug 7 19:08:36 | 20m 38s | The Color of Days To Come. | ♥ 2 | I think this was more of a Turner Prize entry than a Ludum Dare one. It was very good at evoking feelings of mundanity and hopelessness. Also, it did shock appropriately near the end, contrasting greatly with the repetition of the earlier sections. It profoundly affected my wife: she says that this conveyed feeling very strongly and she feels quite shaken by the experience. |
| Aug 7 19:22:27 | 13m 51s | Supermarket Slap | ♥ 2 | Well, everyone who has children *knows* that you cannot win this game. The cart was really difficult to control, but that added greatly to the overall humour of the game as unexpected things kept happening. For example, I don't think I ever smacked my daughter around the head with a box of quinoa before (and that's also the first and last time I wrote the word) so that was a first! |
| Aug 7 19:31:57 | 9m 30s | A lone crewman | ♥ 1 | My biggest problem was forgetting to steer, so I kept crashing into asteroids. However, the whole game was original, cohesive and nicely presented and was a very good interpretation of the theme. |
| Aug 7 19:44:13 | 12m 16s | The Hunt for Red October Box | ♥ 1 | This was reminiscent of games such as Thrust and Gravitar but set underwater. I thought that the graphics were very good, and the game itself had the "one more go" factor. My type of game! |
| Aug 7 19:51:28 | 7m 15s | Last Shine | ♥ 1 | Hats off to the artist as you recreated that 16-bit feeling really well. It played pretty well too, except that good old Windows' "sticky-keys" kept getting in the way. I really liked the way that the superhero would bend over as he got really tired ... I do that too! |
| Aug 8 19:31:51 | 23h 40m | Panda-Go | ♥ 0 | And there I was thinking that pandas was something to do with data science. This is a fun little game. The hand-drawn graphics are (to quote my wife) "adorable". I liked that you made a mini-map too. Can you provide more details on the "true story" that this game is based on. Enquiring minds want to know. |
| Aug 8 19:42:55 | 11m 04s | Fuse Cell | ♥ 1 | Damn, that was superb! I thought that the ability to absorb smaller enemies was an excellent use of the theme and it made for a nice variation on the shmup theme. Graphically and musically it reminded me of [Jamestown](http://store.steampowered.com/app/94200/Jamestown/). |
| Aug 8 19:50:02 | 7m 07s | The Hall of the Sorcerer King | ♥ 2 | I enjoyed this far more than I expected to. The writing was very good, and there were some interesting choices to make. It recreated the D&D experience rather well. |
| Aug 9 19:12:18 | 23h 22m | Keep Your Coal, Dude | ♥ 0 | The idea reminded me very much of [Hunchback](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hunchback_(video_game)) from back in the day, but with the twist of having to back through a level. I liked it: it shows that you don't need cutting edge graphics to give the player an enjoyable experience. I couldn't help but feel that as I was powering the generator I was somehow instrumental in my own demise. |
| Aug 9 19:27:57 | 15m 39s | When the world goes to hell, I'll be here playing Video Games. | ♥ 1 | Crikey, that was unexpectedly powerful. I nearly skipped over the game based on the screenshot but Mrs Columbo persuaded me to take another look and I'm glad that she did. One more thing... that ending was very good. |
| Aug 9 19:34:25 | 6m 28s | RooP | ♥ 1 | I liked the police cars. At one point I thought I was going to recreate a scene from The Blues Brothers with a whole swarm of police on my tail, but it was not to be. It would also have been nice if you could divert the police onto some of the hazards on the track. Overall, I enjoyed playing the game, but I think the balance needs a little tuning. Definitely fun! |
| Aug 9 19:43:10 | 8m 45s | Escape the Earth before its too late | ♥ 1 | For a first time entry, it is nice to see you were able to make a complete game. It could have allowed you to zoom out at the expense of using more power because it was difficult to get your bearings (but maybe that was the point). |
| Aug 9 19:58:57 | 15m 47s | Soporific: A Bedtime Story | ♥ 1 | Mrs Columbo is sitting next to me saying, "the best part is the child!" I have to admit that the game does bring back memories of telling my daughter stories every night, each of which would contain interjections from her such as, "Dad! That's not what happened. You're telling it wrong!" Clearly my imagination can do no right. The drawings were also very good and I'm being informed by Mrs Columbo that this game is her favourite so far. There are too many games that involve shooting, or violence, or batteries running down, so this was original and refreshing. She even called my not so little any more daughter into the room to play the game, and even she had a wry grin at the "oct oct here". |
| Aug 9 20:09:00 | 10m 03s | Long Live The Pig | ♥ 1 | Very amusing. I ended up as bacon, so clearly the electorate figured out that I was telling porkies. |
| Aug 12 12:38:44 | 64h 29m | tropix 🌴 | ♥ 1 | The game certainly has a certain ambience to it. It is aesthetically pleasing and consistent. I enjoyed the little touches, such as the palm trees blowing in the wind and the yacht sailing by. The music was a nice touch too. I think I need a refund on that phone though as the battery runs down far too quickly. |
| Aug 12 12:45:22 | 6m 38s | Ten Little Letters | ♥ 2 | That was a lot of fun, although eventually it crashed with an out of memory error. I enjoyed playing this, despite apparently not knowing much about the alphabet. Very good. |
| Aug 12 12:50:37 | 5m 15s | Apprentice | ♥ 1 | The idea of having the wizard follow you is a good one. That old guy doesn't move as fast; I know just how he feels! |
| Aug 12 12:59:26 | 8m 49s | Owld | ♥ 1 | Ha, that was different! I enjoyed the concept of a geriatric owl living in a house attached to a hot air balloon. I'd have like it a little better if there was some indication of where the next piece of debris might come from, as it seemed a little arbitrary as to whether I got one or not. The graphics and animation are beautifully done. |
| Aug 12 13:07:14 | 7m 48s | Sea Life | ♥ 0 | Damn, those sharks are fast! The odds were rather stacked against the poor fish as I found it very difficult to keep him alive for any length of time. Then again, I suspect that was the whole point. Nice game. |
| Aug 12 13:28:55 | 21m 41s | Are You Sure You Want To Send That? | ♥ 1 | I played through to the end despite my bad typing. Very amusing! I enjoyed the humorous messages on the phone, plus all of the little comments by "Stapley". Mrs Columbo says that you should hook this up to Twitter and have it actually send the tweets if people don't type it in time. However, perhaps you already did... 😄 |
| Aug 12 13:34:38 | 5m 43s | The Dictater | ♥ 1 | Fantastic presentation and graphics. My arthritic finger hates me even more now. |
| Aug 12 13:45:15 | 10m 37s | Light Switch Crusader | ♥ 1 | As a parent, I often find myself humming "There is a light that never goes out" so this game spoke to me. However, the protagonist was far too polite about how everyone kept wasting electricity. It was fun, but it was also a game that I play in real life far too often! "Why is the bathroom light on?" "Are you planning on coming back to this room this century?" "$!$£$%! lights! Do you think I'm _made_ of money?" |
| Aug 12 13:53:20 | 8m 05s | THIRST | ♥ 1 | That was a nice little puzzler, with a charming theme and a wide audience appeal. It would be fantastic on a mobile or a tablet. Very enjoyable and one of the few truly complete games in the jam. |
| Aug 12 14:07:15 | 13m 55s | Rats will kiss the gunner's daughter | ♥ 2 | That [spoiler]! I always knew he was up to no good! This was a good entry: polished, good music, nice little pirate speeches, and a consistent graphical style. Very good. |
| Aug 12 20:24:56 | 6h 17m | The Quest for the Mighty Battery Charger | ♥ 1 | Now I can play for evaaaah! This was really nice to play, it had that retro feel and it had good controls. Also, the sound was bang on for the genre. Great stuff! |
| Aug 12 20:32:20 | 7m 24s | CowPow! | ♥ 1 | It was tricky to control, but quite amusing at the same time. I groaned with despair when I thought I'd dropped a cow into the energy thing only to have it walk off the side and fall back down to the ground. I tried playing it two player with Mrs Columbo, but she found it too hard to control (although perhaps I should have allowed her better access to the keyboard). |
| Aug 12 20:39:30 | 7m 10s | Lights Out | ♥ 0 | I really enjoyed the background animations, with the alien, the TARDIS and so on - they were great and made me smile. I also liked how the screen became darker as your oxygen levels depleted. As for gameplay, running back and forth seemed to be the best way to get the batteries, and I found it tricky to get to some of the higher platforms but that's most likely my poor skill level. |
| Aug 12 20:51:35 | 12m 05s | I'm an (nuclear) engineer! | ♥ 2 | That was educational. I was very careful in how I balanced my reactor and got through on the first try, but I only got 28MWh. Perhaps I should have played for the explosion! |
| Aug 12 20:55:30 | 3m 55s | Scale of Life | ♥ 3 | Those were damn nice graphics. The sound effects, and the face on the little planet were excellent. I'm sure that this would do well as a mobile game, particularly if you introduce some variety and throw in a few collectables. |
| Aug 12 21:03:15 | 7m 45s | Power Plant Simulator. | ♥ 1 | The animations, particularly on the flowing fluid, were great. I hope my local power station has better safety procedures than the way that I ran this one, but with all the cut backs and cost savings these days the engineers probably do run on coffee. Funny game! |
| Aug 13 17:43:48 | 20h 40m | Space Survival | ♥ 0 | It would have been nice if the score persisted, because once you die you can't see it. This has the beginnings of a good game, but it needs some balancing. For instance, the player's ship rotates too slowly to react to incoming missiles, and the shots are very slow. That being said, I think you'll get there because all of the elements are there. |
| Aug 13 18:02:48 | 19m 00s | Hungry Harry's Climb | ♥ 1 | I very much liked this, particularly the attention to detail. For example, having Harry talk to tell the player what to do was a great idea. There's definitely replay value in this... my wife remarked that I kept going back to it. There are too many modern platformers whose controls are floaty, or not pixel perfect. This one was old school and brought a smile to my face. |
| Aug 13 18:25:04 | 22m 16s | Spacy adventure | ♥ 1 | Well, I'm most definitely a sucker for anything retro, particularly on pico8 which has a charm all of its own. You took the limitations of pico8 and worked within them to produce that fantastic, retro feel. That's a cracking good game! My only glitch was in the shop, because I kept trying to press [Enter] to buy, which brought up the pause menu. For what it's worth, you can disable it with this poke (running it once per frame seems to do the trick). function disable_pause() poke(0x5f30, 1) end Great game! |
| Aug 13 18:37:19 | 12m 15s | The Crown Prince | ♥ 0 | Mrs Columbo tells me that this would be a pretty good way for the math-reluctant to learn about coins / simple addition, and I agree with her. My only issue was that everything seemed a little dark so that I couldn't always distinguish one colour from another. The guillotine was hilarious! I think this was original and interesting, and could be a good educational game. |
| Aug 13 18:48:41 | 11m 22s | Wayside : A world awaits you | ♥ 0 | Stylish graphics and a fun little game. I played for quite some time. Nice. |
| Aug 13 19:07:26 | 18m 45s | Yet Another Exhausted Day | ♥ 1 | Nice and original. That 90 degree turn defeated me. In fact, I took so long trying to beat that level that Mrs Columbo decided it would be a good idea to start playing Peppa Pig singing [I'm a Wiggly Worm](https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=5&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwiCyZz289TVAhUCOsAKHd1hBusQtwIIPTAE&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DhLaV6H0kwuk&usg=AFQjCNGG73Dt0hz698Je50E0rqg64t7GGg) to help me get into character. |
| Aug 13 19:19:25 | 11m 59s | Galvanica | ♥ 3 | I don't know what it says about me wanting an alien infestation so that I could put them all into the furnace. This was a very, very funny game with humorous writing. The mini-games were a nice touch too. My new motto, "if it's not nailed down, put it in the furnace!" ... which has my family a little worried about me. |
| Aug 13 19:33:14 | 13m 49s | How I Met Your Great Great Grandmother | ♥ 2 | I like how the puzzler had you solving multiple mazes at once. I haven't seen something like this before; very original. |
| Aug 13 19:46:13 | 12m 59s | Back Home | ♥ 0 | Lovely game. The graphics and music are excellent, and I enjoyed the gentle flight dynamics. It would be interesting to see if this translates to VR. Mrs Columbo (my wife) wants to know why the squirrels are so angry. |
| Aug 13 19:54:36 | 8m 23s | Voodoo Lockdown | ♥ 1 | A clever idea, well implemented. I liked that very much. |
| Aug 13 19:58:53 | 4m 17s | Wodewick, the grumpy monster | ♥ 1 | Hilarious! The graphics were sickeningly cute! My only problem: now everyone in my family is calling me Wodewick. I can't imagine why. |
| Aug 13 20:18:06 | 19m 13s | Growing Pains | ♥ 1 | Ha - that was funny, particularly the "see ladies, aiming isn't easy" comment which occurred as my wife was busy playing the "pee" section of the game. I also liked that fact that you had to walk slowly when you got old - that was a nice touch. |
| Aug 13 20:27:31 | 9m 25s | Fall of Raphael | ♥ 2 | The art style in this game really stands out. It is beautiful in its simplicity, and the haunting Bach-esque music suited the setting perfectly. Really, really nice. |
| Aug 13 20:39:53 | 12m 22s | No Sorcerer's Sky | ♥ 2 | Once Mrs Columbo and I figured out what to do, the game became quite enjoyable. Our biggest problem was remembering to press Escape rather than the Main Menu button, which got a little frustrating at times, but this is definitely original and interesting. My wife felt bad for the poor wizard in the "game over" panel, but liked how he appeared to walk away from the tragedy in a "carry on, nothing to see here!" manner. It's well within the LD rules to put the directions on your game page, so perhaps if you did that then it might help others know what to do, because you have a nice game here. |
| Aug 15 21:03:46 | 48h 23m | Survival Adventures | ♥ 1 | It's an ambitious compo entry, but it works. It's very clever, with an amusing take on the theme. Nice little soundtrack too. I'm surprised you don't have many ratings - this game deserves to be seen. |
| Aug 15 21:13:33 | 9m 47s | The 100% Official Liz McColgan's Running Power | ♥ 1 | I was disappointed that finishing the Marathon didn't unlock a special "Proclaimers" mode where I had to walk 500 miles then walk 500 more. Damn, my hands are broken from running so much. It took me nearly 3 hours to complete the marathon and I think I need a new keyboard. Also, I'm sure that I don't remember Liz McColgan's nose being that big. Ok, I lied. I only ran the 800 metres, but even then, my hands aren't what they used to be. This is like playing Track 'n' Field all over again. It's a fun game - I wonder if it would translate to multiplayer. |
| Aug 15 21:20:11 | 6m 38s | Deus Lightning Force | ♥ 0 | The CRT effect was pretty cool, particularly when Zeus strayed too close to the edges of the monitor. I enjoyed being a god - it was fun while it lasted. |
| Aug 16 19:11:35 | 21h 51m | Candy Wars | ♥ 1 | The best part was General Donut's raging fury. He was a role model for us all! As others have commented, it was quite heavy on the exposition, but I had fun trying to find out what would happen next, exploring the different endings. Overall, very funny and original. |
| Aug 16 19:20:29 | 8m 54s | Inconvenient Drone Convention | ♥ 0 | That was a fun game. I enjoyed some of the little touches, such as the re-entry heat when you point your spaceship down. I didn't make it to the ground though - my concentration tends to wander after a long day's work, diminishing my reaction time. Great little game. |
| Aug 16 19:52:34 | 32m 05s | Running Out of Power Rangers | ♥ 1 | Well, that was quite an amusingly different take on the theme. I liked the names for the different attacks. |
| Aug 16 20:02:11 | 9m 37s | Berzerk Hunt | ♥ 1 | That was a blast! I thought the "Ull is displeased" death scene was hilarious. Could have done with nicer sounds, but I'm not complaining - the game delivered what it promised. |
| Aug 17 19:46:12 | 23h 44m | Heal The Dark Lord! | ♥ 2 | The graphics in this are fantastic, even down to the animation on the main character. I'm very impressed. I also enjoyed combining different ingredients to see what happened. |
| Aug 17 20:02:55 | 16m 43s | Nex Machinan | ♥ 1 | Not bad at all! Very good, in fact. You mad me remember that I still like this style of gameplay, particularly with the shiny, neon aesthetic. I particularly liked how the levels would become more complicated - I'd initially expected screen after screen of empty arenas - that was a nice touch. |
| Aug 18 20:07:43 | 24h 04m | Battery Low | ♥ 1 | That was astonishingly close to life in my house. All those phones, all those tablets, all those electric toothbrushes. All the game needs now is a bag of old cables, chargers and adapers that you just can't quite bear to throw away on the off chance that you might actually visit France again and need to charge your Nokia 2110. |
| Aug 18 20:51:22 | 43m 39s | The Music Box | ♥ 0 | That is rather nice. The game was very intuitive to play and reminded me a little of [Puzzle Agent](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Puzzle_Agent). I felt that the music and art worked very well together, and the story was intriguing. My only criticism is that the importance of the music box could have been woven into the story a bit more seamlessly - once I was made aware of it, the game really became just a quest to find the things that I needed to get to the music box. |
| Aug 18 21:04:52 | 13m 30s | The Fifth Exponent | ♥ 1 | The graphics took me back in time. They were very good, and the game was humorous too. It's a shame that you didn't get around to the sound, but even without it the game had a great early 90s feel to it. |
| Aug 21 19:58:19 | 70h 53m | The Dying Sun | ♥ 1 | The graphics, whilst being beautiful examples of pixel art, are very small and I had to take to jumping to figure out who I was. That being said, this is a fun game and it's quite a bit different. Nice job. |
| Aug 21 20:12:33 | 14m 14s | Our Stories | ♥ 0 | I never knew how ferocious teddy bears could be. This was a little bit like story time with a toddler, because you just never know what kind of outlandish situations will be thrown at you. Fun! |
| Aug 21 20:21:34 | 9m 01s | Intercontinental Birdsman Competition 2018 | ♥ 0 | That was fun, although I struggled to get beyond the snow level. Your pixel art was great. The gameplay made me think that the world needs a game that's a combination of Flappy Bird and Joust. Nicely done. |
| Aug 21 20:33:40 | 12m 06s | Running out of Butter | ♥ 0 | I really enjoyed that. What a cute main character. I would have liked to have seen the butter shrink as it melted, but in general this plays very well. |
