LD30 — Connected Worlds

Spirit World by vico87 2014-08-29T21:33:00

This is a nice interpretation of the theme.
Playing alone (the two sides at once) might not be the best way to appreciate the game, but it is interesting anyway. The game seems well balanced.
There are a few points that could be improved regarding the user interface:
- show a hint of the position of 'invisible' characters, to make it obvious why some moves are not allowed
- better differenciate characters of each player. Mages and ghosts are the same and the player has to select one to see to whom it belongs.
- maybe add a green/red bar (or two) above each character to show its current status.
But it looks like a solid base for a strategy game.

The Two-Dimensional Universe by Zathnic 2014-08-28T19:56:00

The world is really big, it's impressive. And as you said in your description, lots of changes in the game mechanics along the way. The graphics are a bit primitive, but for such a short time jam, they're working OK.
Good work.

The Unfortunate Potato by Longarmx 2014-08-30T16:30:00

I guess you voted for the "Potato Salad" theme :)
Very good puzzle mechanics that fit the actual "connected" theme.
Simple but cute graphics. A bit short, but acceptable for the compo. You could produce many more levels later.
I love it.

Wifimon by Morusque 2014-08-30T16:40:00

Unfortunately, I could only find one Wifimon and I could not find what to do with the game...

Her Garden by Gaeel 2014-08-30T21:14:00

Intriguing and beautiful game, relaxing even. Graphics and ambient sounds build a unique atmosphere.

Links by esayitch 2014-08-25T18:06:00

Solid shooter with a nice interpretation of the theme.
A few visual clues would make it a bit more enjoyable though:
- better distinguish the currently controlled ship
- show if shots to the boss actually hit or not (or maybe I never hit it)
A bit 'bland' visually: the colors almost look like CGA ;) (Yes I'm old enough to have known that).
Good entry.

Political Planeting by ItsSacraficed 2014-08-25T19:42:00

Interesting concept (not so far from what I had envisioned for my own entry) that could make a good resource management game.
Too bad the UI is actually hidering play instead of helping it. Being forced to read text for planet types while the game continues in the background is not terribly friendly. Also, warnings about low food on planets could be directly presented in a visual manner, for better reaction.
Anyway, the game fits very well with the theme.

Dwarf Wars by AxeTheory 2014-08-25T17:48:00

Nice short game with mechanics that are easy to understand. Might have needed a bit more balancing, because it's actually very easy.
It seems that when goblins attack (or fall from their world), clicking sends them back, which makes it quite difficult for them to make any damage.
Also, visually, it's difficult to follow combats that happen upside-down. Maybe reversing the world would give a different feel.
Overall casual, fun and enjoyable.

Altrein's Portal by MacronCPP 2014-08-28T19:37:00

Wow, that must have been a lot of work for a 48h jam.
That being said, there are lots of things that still need improvement:
- the build/update/delete being a separate screen is really disruptive to the gameplay
- there's not easy way to identify the level of each trap
- even on the easy difficulty, the game suddenly becomes very hard around wave 6: traps that managed to destroy everything easily suddenly don't seem to make any damage.
And I don't really see the relation with the theme.
Anyway, for a first 3d game, that's something already.

Luna by CrownCity 2014-09-04T19:46:00

The moveable ladder is a good concept. The key combinations to make it work are probably over-complicated, but that's something that can be fixed.
Solid concept that could give some fun puzzles.
I don't see much relation with the theme though.

13 minutes of light by Jod 2014-08-25T20:39:00

Excellent story and mood in the game and a it fits well with the theme.
It might not be so easy to "sell" a mostly-textual adventure in a LD contest.

Connected Worlds by g_o 2014-08-28T20:17:00

Strange game indeed. Unclassifiable. It's difficult to understand the point of it.

bats: fish invasion by sthreet 2014-08-28T20:23:00

I understand the concept, which is interesting.
Too bad you didn't have time to make the game easier to play. Without the instructions, it's really difficult to understand what is going on.

Through by Recon 2014-08-30T16:11:00

Chrome would not download it, saying it was malicious.

Crisis Culture by GrooveMan 2014-08-30T20:58:00

Very nice and funny graphic adventure.

Fusion by TGL 2014-08-25T19:27:00

Very innovative concept: transforming a sokoban crate-pushing game into a platformer.
However I don't find the result very fun: maybe it's just me, but the two genres feel more one on top of the other than really integrated. There is not much that can be done/planned on create levels, except gathering everything around TNT.

Interstellar, Inc. by JavadocMD 2014-08-28T20:37:00

Very good simulation for such a short timeframe.
At first I did not understand the importance of the "admin" type of upgrade, but it's a important one!
With more time, this could be extended to a more complete resource management game.

2connected by Infraviolet 2014-08-25T19:48:00

Same error here. Installing the MS redist from the provided link does not work either. Additionnally, you seem to already redistribute a version with your game. However it's msvcp110d.dll (not 120).

Connected by vogon101 2014-08-30T16:20:00

I probably wouldn't have done better for a first Unity entry.
But the game is still a bit hard and not very fun.
And I can't see the relation with the theme.

Orbital Cargo by Bozwellox 2014-08-25T19:29:00

Chrome refused to download the zip, telling me it was malicious. Can you check what you have included?

Planetshaker for Android by Maek 2014-08-25T17:39:00

Nice Android entry with Play achievement integration. With the current trends towards mobile gaming, it's a good idea.
The game mechanic is simple but well implemented and fits the theme quite well indeed.

Disconnected Keyboard by Aomeas 2014-08-25T20:11:00

Wow! Awesome! A game where you are the keyboard!
Fits the theme (more on the Connected side than on the Worlds side, but anyways), simple but nice graphics, cool music that is not annoying, original control scheme that made me think of Etch-a-Sketch (or Télécran as it's known in France) because you only have the four directions that you have to combine.
My only (minor) gripe is the yellow text on green background in the beginning is really hard to read.
Lots of stars for you!

Troika - how long will you cooperate? by Tomker 2014-08-25T17:56:00

Cannot play: I can pass the menu screen by pressing [ENTER], but after that, nothing reacts to my right-click or any key.
(Windows 8.1/64bit, JRE 8u20)

Connected Nations by villetou 2014-09-04T20:32:00

I don't really understand why I have to bang on so many keys at the same time, but it's really funny, with an excellent mood.
Maybe it could be converted to a less finger-stressing game: the resource observation and sharing would be more intersting (to me) if I could have more time to think about what I'm doing, not just using reflexes.
Excellent anyway.

Galaxy Saviour by Samuel Arminana 2014-08-25T20:13:00

Same problem here: clicking start does not start (Win8.1-64bits/Chrome/Unity Player - Version: 4.5.3.161466)

Balance the Worlds by slowfrog 2014-08-24T22:52:00

Sorry, my first upload was not finished yet.
Now it should be OK and you can add and remove "transfers".
But it's pretty dumb, anyway (first participation, big ideas, very bad planning ;)

Balance the Worlds by slowfrog 2014-08-28T20:26:00

Yep all! It's clearly unfinished and full of bugs (waterworld sending fire being the most obvious). I'll try harder next LD :)

Link'emAll by bobombe 2014-09-02T20:33:00

Very good puzzle.
The losing and winning conditions should be highlighted, but otherwise solid.

Interplanetary Postal Service by Pirate Hearts 2014-08-25T19:55:00

Very funny, especially the "human-made" sound effects!
The graphics are nice too.
The game is short, simple to understand. Maybe some visual indication that some envelopes have been waiting for some time already would help prioritize them.
Good experience overall.

A letter for God by bluesky 2014-08-30T20:04:00

Interesting game, if somewhat simple. The concept of being God and receiving the requests of people is cool.
The English is a bit broken, perhaps you could ask for some native English speaker to proofread your texts.
I enjoyed playing several times to discover several endings.

NEXUS by brokenbeach 2014-08-25T20:59:00

Great little shooter/platformer. I've not finished it yet (only excavated three planets) but I'm impressed by its polish. It really feels great.
Graphics are simple but to the point, maybe a little too small.
I'm not too sure about the theme, but not having found 'the nexus', I can't say much.
Very solid entry.

Diorama by Nooner Bear 2014-08-28T20:08:00

Great game. The graphics and music are really good.
Of course the mechanics are not new, but the story is interesting and fits the theme quite well.
And the fact that it's short is to be expected for a jam. But it's a "complete" short game, that's what's important.

Alice Anxiety by jukimv1986 2014-08-28T19:47:00

The mechanics are quite familiar but the switch between day and night worlds is very well done. The change of mood is evan stressful.
Too bad it ends with "To be continued..."

Balance by miwuc 2014-08-28T19:17:00

Wow, nice! Cool music, cute graphics, simple gameplay (even though at first everything kept dying...).
Having an on-screen button to turn the world would make it easily playable on a mobile platform almost for free.

A New and Beautiful World by TKia_ 2014-08-30T19:44:00

Very good story that touches on the theme. It's really well written and the atmosphere is perfectly rendered.
That's not much of a game though (too little choices).

Gunship Diplomacy by blubberquark 2014-08-30T16:56:00

Interesting concept that fits the theme perfectly.
I think it's a bit difficult to adapt to changing alliances when changing worlds, because you have to keep an eye on incoming ships at the same time. So perhaps some visual clues to easily see if you're going to shoot allies would be helpful.
Solid anyways.

LD32 — An Unconventional Weapon

Quest of the Cornflake by OneL3gend 2015-04-24T20:14:00

At least the unique level is pretty and the music is good. I would have loved to know the full cornflake story!

Holokitten by vidarn 2015-04-22T20:26:00

Cannot download without a dropbox account, apparently.

Last Clown Standing by garygreen 2015-04-21T19:17:00

Wow! Very clownish indeed. Nice graphics and creepy atmostphere. Short and fun.

dis by caryoscelus 2015-04-29T09:48:00

Interesting story and principles. I'm not going to vote, though, because it's a post-jam version and I can't see how to get an 'in-jam' one.

Dear Chancellor by Ludonaut 2015-04-26T20:17:00

I find your critique of the capitalistic system a bit abstract. A few pictures of Greek politicians with a background music generated by high-frequency trading automata would have made it more powerful, I think ;)

WMD (With My Dog) by Oborux 2015-04-27T19:08:00

The respawn time is prohobitive: when trying to understand the game, I died a lot and not being able to restart in the second is really frustrating.

The Umbrella Man by Toccio 2015-04-21T20:30:00

Very funny and addictive. Works well. However, the moves, jumps and collisions are reeeeeeally too sluggish. I persevered and bought the golden umbrella though!

Choose your own title! by jlauper 2015-04-20T20:49:00

This is not that great as a game, but as you say, if you don't like being rushed, maybe you should do the jam. Then you could prepare things in advance, or enroll some help, and have an extra day.

Blackboard Wars by KedumeBits 2015-04-26T21:25:00

Cute and polished presentation, but otherwise not that unconventional.

Where's Manno by local minimum 2015-04-24T21:05:00

I found Manno. But I still don't really understand... Very 'trippy', visually very good, and the audio is really strong.

Mystical Youth Amy by NIGIC 2015-04-20T21:02:00

Good polished entry. Very nice looking. The unconventional weapon hides very classic shoot-them-up mechanics, but done well and working perfectly.

Can i fly? by komjaur 2015-04-21T21:06:00

Wow! Wow! Excellent mechanics, though not obvious at first, especially in windowed mode, where right click shows the context menu, so this MUST be run in fullscreen.
The design is really promissing, the graphics, though geometric, are very polished. I only found 4 or 5 cubes, climbed one very high tower, felt a bit dizzy :)
Awesome work!

Alien Attack by Beege 2015-04-21T19:21:00

Very polished, simple and well done gameplay. The fruit and vegetable weapons are unconventional in appearance, but are acting like standard guns. The graphics, sound and music make it a fun one.

Carrot Bender by Lukbebalduke 2015-04-20T19:37:00

Chrome refuses the file.
Windows 8 refuses to launch it.

GraviSniper by unitycoder_com 2015-04-21T19:30:00

Very original game that works well. The combination of the top view and the bullet view is really nice. The atmosphere is dark and stressful. And the weapon is the most unconventional I have seen yet.

Fathom by Joe Williamson 2015-04-25T22:35:00

Wow! Simply wow! So great! This is impressive. The graphics are perfect, the gameplay is very polished, it's challenging but never too hard. And the unconventional game mechanic is really cool.

Badass Inc by deepnight 2015-04-26T20:47:00

Amazing art, animation and mood. If you can do that in two days, I guess you can make a full game in just a few weeks.

PoP by Monochrome Bears 2015-04-26T19:52:00

No access to OS/X.

Rekyl by Wspon 2015-04-27T20:21:00

Nice graphics and lighting effects. The level textures could use a little bit more contrast though: it's difficult to distinguish floor from walls at first.

Unconventional Card Battles by benjih 2015-04-20T20:13:00

Cannot download without a dropbox account.

Bane of Arthropods by AnaglyphCoding 2015-04-20T20:12:00

Nice looking and nice sounding. The controls are a bit buggy though (got stuck in mid-air and blocked in the middle of moves).

QTST by DeltaF1 2015-04-26T21:21:00

Nice, but why are we fighting Franklin the pixellated turtle ? :)

Evil Cube: The Game by lxd1 2015-04-22T20:53:00

Beautiful game. Shooting sheep is sure unconventional, but it's still shooting... Nice work.

Pixel Tanks by thomz12 2015-04-20T20:02:00

Graphics is definitely the strong point of the game. It's also well polished, even though the mechanics are very classic.

Infectious by Chemical_Studios 2015-04-20T20:22:00

Feels a bit like infectonator.

It's dangerous to go alone... by Hamsternator 2015-04-21T20:43:00

Very funny. The graphics are simple, sure, but they fit their purpose. The game mechanics is a bit more obscure. It's difficult to understand when a traveler will change his path.

Out Shooting Boxes by joylessSnake 2015-04-20T19:05:00

It's not the kind of game that I find really fun, but the control scheme reminds me of "The binding of Isaac."

Sheep by Cstudios 2015-04-22T19:57:00

Interesting, but the game lacks in predictibility. There is not way for the player to know in advance what length a move will be, how many actions are needed to reach a given point, etc. Otherwise, graphically and on the audio side, this feels really polished.

The Unintentional Terrorist by MikeTheWayne 2015-04-23T20:15:00

Strange and 'addictive' for ten minutes but the point of the game is not very clear.

The Gallery by Kavehes 2015-04-26T19:51:00

Good concept: art as a weapon... kind of.

Gluebie by slowfrog 2015-04-20T20:16:00

This is my own entry. I don't really understand why it shows up in my dashboard of games to review :)

Gluebie by slowfrog 2015-04-22T21:00:00

The mechanics are there, but I agree that the levels are not. I finished everything at 1:30AM, which was 90 minutes before the deadline and was too tired to come up with good puzzles. I might do it later on.

I actually guessed we would have the "Companion" theme, so when the Unconventional Weapon theme appeared, I resorted to what was visible on my breakfast table: a stick of glue, some plastic bag...

The controls are not what I would have liked them to be, honestly. I wished to make the collected items clickable (to change mode) and the colored arrows as well. This would have made the game playable in a mobile browser, without keyboard. But the compo is only 48h long, you know how it goes.

Extinguished by Conk 2015-04-21T20:38:00

Very impressive graphics. The gameplay has probably suffered from lack of time, but it's a promising start.

Canker Blossom by Headmade 2015-04-21T21:27:00

Funny design. It's a bit difficult to target the destination positions, though. Fixing that little flaw would make it still more enjoyable.

[BoardGame] The Rabbits Scourge ! by LeoM 2015-04-28T19:12:00

I have no 3d printer, sorry.

THUMP by Steffan 'Ruirize' James 2015-04-22T20:04:00

Wow, fun and unexpected! The oblique killzone are especially frustrating, because there's no oblique thumping.

The Guardian by Bastienre4 2015-04-27T20:29:00

Noooooo! This is too short! But it's worth every minute playing. The concept could certainly be extended to a full game. The atmosphere is awesome, and the basic mechanic is stressful (spare every pixel) but really unconventional.

Let dat Bass Cannon Kick it. by MarthMadness 2015-04-24T19:33:00

Ok, there's not much to do in this game, but since you're learning the technologies, that's not unexpected. At least you tried.

Cutest Weapon by rzfmzn 2015-04-22T20:34:00

Excellent! Great concept, awesome execution! The graphics are super-cute, the music and sound effects are light hearted and fun. Great moment to play!

Grease Colosseum by BoxedMeatRevolution 2015-04-27T20:03:00

Interesting mechanics, but the difficulty 'curve' is a bit too steep for me.

APT: Advanced Persistent Threat by Toby Pinder 2015-04-23T22:02:00

Interesting game. The discovery part is really nice and worked well for me. After that, the game becomes a little repetitive, trying to reach a winning condition. Very enjoyable anyway, for a game without sound of graphics.

PaperBeatsTyranny by Sébastien Bernery 2015-04-21T20:50:00

Interesting concept. Crude graphics (the text is sometimes unreadable on the background and when opening it several times it 'sticks'), but at least the controls work pretty well. I did not succeed in using the cape. I thought I could take off, using the road as a runway...

Airlock by CreamyBacon1 2015-04-24T20:02:00

Interesting. I tried fighting the aliens and throwing them in space, but they keep coming.

Super Space Toaster by Alpenter 2015-04-27T19:34:00

Nice shooter. The unconventionality of the weapons is more in the visuals than in the principles (shooting is still shooting).

Go Hard or Go Home by Humbleness 2015-04-24T20:03:00

JNI error at startup.

Not Nice Knight by Nebulaic Toaster 2015-04-21T21:19:00

A bit simple but kind of funny.

Word Warriors by UKCoder 2015-04-20T20:15:00

Cannot download without a dropbox account.

It Overtakes Them by purenickery 2015-04-24T20:31:00

Very good: simple but effective graphics, good music and sounds, interesting concept. I will admit I abandoned at the cliff that needs lots of jumps onto small platforms (because there are lots of other games to rate) but I might come back to finish it :)

Garbarrage by thenoviceengineer 2015-04-24T19:52:00

For a first time, it's pretty good. It's not very original, and the weapon is more "looking" unconventional than really unconventional, but it's fun to play and works well. Keep on.

Sten the Keyboard Warrior by Peatuno 2015-04-24T20:40:00

The very nice graphics gave me great expectations, but I was a bit disappointed by the lack of content. Of course, this is a game jam, so that is to be expected, but I would have loved to play a little bit longer.

Grannihilator by StabAlarash 2015-04-20T20:34:00

Very nice short and fun game. The watercolor backgrounds are really beautiful and well integrated. It's all well polished, not too hard either. Great jam entry.

No More Nuggets by lubiterum 2015-04-24T21:11:00

Very polished. Maybe not that original in the gameplay, but extermely professional end result.

Temporal Gardener by Foofanoo42 2015-04-24T21:22:00

Nice looking but can't really understand the principle. Made it to level 3 by sheer chance...

FAT-ALITY by RoarG 2015-04-24T21:30:00

Shooting your own belly fat on incoming vegans?! WTF?! Granted, that's unconventional, but maybe you should see a psychologist, or something :D
The game play well, but there are some glitches in the controls. It's quite easy to be stuck against a small rock and have to walk back to be able to jump again.

Big laugh anyway!

A MineSweepEars Island by Dhim 2015-04-22T19:44:00

Interesting idea, but I had trouble understanding the "path" concept. Also visually, the black paths overlap the numbers, so it's really difficult to think about next steps. The spatialized sound concept is innovative. I must be too deaf to make something of the clues it gives, anyway.

Evil Cupido: Haters gonna hate by Pixel Heart 2015-04-26T20:30:00

Hilarious, and very polished. Just the right level of difficulty for a casual game.

PaperKiller by korvyashka 2015-04-23T20:37:00

Really nice idea with a good execution.

HK-21 by stevenlr 2015-04-27T19:50:00

Short but with the right amount of difficulty. The mechanics are interesting to play with. Good entry.

Le Baguette Man by Kahztein 2015-04-22T20:25:00

Cannot seem to download without a dropbox account.

Harry and his Herring by Amazingcookie 2015-04-22T20:12:00

Decidedly unconventional (based on Monty Python, that was to be expected (unlike the Spanish Inquisition)).
The rotating herring mechanic is interesting, but the game itself feels to fast and random to be enjoyable. Know what I mean, blink-blink, nudge-nudge?

The Cleansing of Floaro's Tomb by Hopscotch 2015-04-27T20:09:00

It's annoying that the moves of the mummies and workers is totally unpredictable. I even had workers that would stay on their entry square and not move at all... Could have been interesting otherwise.

Super Skater Waiter by MikkelLevisen 2015-04-24T19:41:00

That's probably the most polished game I've played from this LD yet. The graphics and sound atmosphere are perfect, the moves and control are smooth. Shooting plates at customers is definitely unconventionnal. It's fun playing, though a bit difficult. With a bit of balancing and progression, it would be completely awesome.

Shield Bash by lumscum 2015-04-27T20:32:00

Good idead, excellent execution.

Celebrity Fart by lucien 2015-04-27T19:58:00

I think the original game mechanic is from Tempest: http://my.ign.com/atari/tempest

Time Speed by Scornz 2015-04-22T20:19:00

The idea sounded interesting but the gamed proved too difficult and impossible to master. I could not score a single point and died many times without visible cause (shot in the back, probably).

Magic Chopter by samwest 2015-04-21T21:08:00

Only link is for sources. Cannot run.

Pizza Panic by peecestudios 2015-04-22T20:41:00

This game is actually a pizza-remake of Guitar Hero. I'm not particulary interested in that type of games, but it feels quite polished and the musics are good.

Disaster Theatre by 12 Pechás Of Souls 2015-04-24T20:10:00

Beautiful waterpaint graphics and nice music, interesting mechanics but a bit rough from the start. What should I do with --empty script-- for instance?
Very enjoyable anyway.

Weapossession by tayl1r 2015-04-22T20:23:00

Possession as a weapon is clearly unconventional. The mechanic is simple, the graphics are cool.

Dr. Rampage by zzForrest 2015-04-20T20:21:00

Feels a bit like Infectonator.

Dr. Rampage by zzForrest 2015-04-20T20:25:00

Funny, but nothing really unconventional.

Pedestrian Mining Corps by mildmojo 2015-04-26T20:12:00

Funny, limited, but works well.

LD33 — You are the Monster

Stallman Quest by n42k 2015-08-26T20:20:00

Interesting adventure but the respawn is clearly too long (30s when you die).

Virus by JangoBrick 2015-08-26T20:34:00

Interesting but it's difficult to get an idea if we're doing well or poorly. I though my infection was quite good, but as soon as the vaccine was developed, I was wiped out.

Trapped & Angry by stevenlr 2015-08-26T20:48:00

Very nice. Plays great.

Groop by Demetz 2015-08-26T20:05:00

Quite simple, but very nicely done. The graphics and animations are clean, the jump mechanic is good, the progression is ok.
The monster is a bit slow to keep up with the flow of soldiers at the end, so some speed power ups would be a nice addition.

Escape From The City by miwuc 2015-08-29T17:48:00

Pretty graphics, different from your usual pixel art.
And the cuuuute "Raaow" when you breathe fire!
