| Apr 5 02:07:57 | Peter and the Pesky Puppets | ♥ 7 | The game would really be improved by having a map! I love the riddles, but since I'm unfamiliar with the layout of the level I had a hard time finding the objectives. Cool game, and I love the atmosphere! | |
| Apr 5 02:12:19 | 4m 22s | Arboressence | ♥ 2 | The art work is fantastic! I can't really complain about a lack of English text in game, since the devs were French, but I will say it was a bit hard to follow in game due to the language barrier. The gameplay was nice and simple. I was only able to last a little over a minute though, but perhaps I'm just bad. Nice work! |
| Apr 5 02:33:42 | 21m 23s | Carbonara | ♥ 1 | The art is very adorable! I absolutely love the how tutorial screen is in the shape of a cat's head! There should be bonus points for doing a flip, ha! The music is catchy, but maybe too short of a loop? I don't know what my best score was, it seemed to be around negative two minutes? I don't know how to interpret that. Great game! |
| Apr 5 02:47:52 | 14m 10s | Down to the Wire | ♥ 6 | Very cool puzzle game! I know it's the entire point of the game, but I wish the "fail condition" wasn't so punishing. I finally figured out level 27 or so with 11 seconds to spare, and didn't have enough time to act it out. It's a huge share I'd have to restart the entire game from level one, as I don't have the patience to play through everything a second time just for 2 more levels. The music was cool, and the minimalist art style looks great! Overall, it's a really cool game! |
| Apr 5 02:58:02 | 10m 10s | Cat in the Bag | ♥ 4 | Ha! I loved the story, but I found it a bit hard at times to correctly guess the right item. The artwork is fantastic, and I love the ways you showed the knights emotions despite him being in a suit of armor! Stellar job! |
| Apr 5 03:03:24 | 5m 22s | Don`t Sleep | ♥ 4 | Oh good lord this is absolutely hilarious. ~~Why in the world did you opt out of humor?! (it looks like you opted out of as many categories as possible?)~~ Seriously outstanding work. This was a great time. My best score was 121. Edit: I have gone back and rated your game for the other categories. Again, great work! |
| Apr 5 03:12:37 | 9m 13s | Department Of Demise | ♥ 6 | Wow! Incredible work on the audio! The little quips and jokes being spoken on the intercom are absolutely the kind of polish I love to see in Ludum Dare games! The reasons for adding and subtracting days from their lives are hilarious, and I loved reading every one! Seriously incredible work on the humor. This is a wonderful game. |
| Apr 5 03:21:44 | 9m 07s | Orange Mécanique | ♥ 3 | Oh man, the graphics are adorable. I love the animations! I think the gameplay is a little too familiar / easy. Endless runners are very abundant, and I would've liked to see something to make this game stand out above the rest in the genre. It's still a lot of fun, I just wish there was more. The music is nice too! Nice game. |
| Apr 5 03:29:15 | 7m 31s | Playground Panic | ♥ 2 | Haaa! I love the noises the kids make. The artwork is cute and child-like, it almost reminds me of Blues Clues, how the school appears to be drawn in crayon. Also, wow, the chaos as the game gets further and further is a lot of fun! Wonderfully done. |
| Apr 5 03:39:48 | 10m 33s | Kärbeste Kättemaks | ♥ 0 | Is level 2 the exact same as level 1? Either way, I enjoyed playing the game! The movement is just floaty / weighty enough that it feels perfect to slide around the hallway. Also the story about cow eating flies is pretty funny. Nice work! |
| Apr 5 03:48:26 | 8m 38s | Domotichaos | ♥ 3 | Oh man, this was fun! I love how the music keeps getting faster and faster as you survive longer. I also love the dancing animation on the title, ha! Not to brag, but I had a pretty good high score. ____ld.PNG Well, that screenshot is larger than I intended, but it goes to show just how great my score was. Fantastic work, ha! |
| Apr 5 03:57:30 | 9m 04s | Gaia | ♥ 1 | Oh man, I love the ending where Gaia intervenes. The story is as accurate as it is pessimistic. Top points for mood. The artwork is really nice! I love how Gaia visibly gets upset. Plus, the gameplay is really well balanced. I never lost, but it was always just on the brink of happening. Nice work! |
| Apr 5 04:09:27 | 11m 57s | Your end is... Cat? | ♥ 2 | Ah man, I spent like 4 minutes typing out the longest name for the cat, only for it to be named seth. You gotta at least have a section where I get to call my cat by name! wonderful job on the humor! All around, great marks. Edit: also my cat's name was Sir Daniel Duffington the fifth esquire von leufenstrasse the conqueror, biter of shins, ruler of the planet Omicron Persei 8, jr. Clearly, all instances of "seth" were a typo. it's easy to spell his name wrong. |
| Apr 5 04:22:44 | 13m 17s | Sauce of Life | ♥ 1 | Ha! I love how you sacrifice your hair to stay afloat a little longer. The visual change with losing all your hair is hilarious. Great job! |
| Apr 5 04:28:24 | 5m 40s | Save Sin | ♥ 3 | Ooh, it's nice and challenging! I think it's funny how I can use an anvil to soften the fall. The artwork is pretty rad, and the background looks fantastic. Perhaps it's a bit too hard? I think if I could take a little less damage with each impact it would be a bit more enjoyable, but maybe I just need to get good. Nice work! |
| Apr 5 04:37:25 | 9m 01s | FINAL BONES | ♥ 2 | oh god, the humor. the first thing I read was "You jokes are extremely humerus". Perfect. Say no more- I'm hooked. Oh man, and the text at the top of the screen. The humor is non stop, and it's amazing. That said, the gameplay is a bit repetitive, and could use some extra features. The sound effects are nice, and I'm a big fan of the artwork! The background is especially impressive. The lighting must've taken a long time! Great work all around! |
| Apr 5 04:46:55 | 9m 30s | Will Goo | ♥ 2 | High score of 198. Some of the randomly generated sections are incredibly difficult, while others are trivial. I think the difficulty needs a bit of tweaking, but overall it's fine. I really like the artwork. the green and purple color palette is nice! Great work. |
| Apr 5 04:52:17 | 5m 22s | Cast or Blast | ♥ 2 | The trend seems to be that the other shrines are too hidden. I think there needs to be a map so the player knows where to go. Wandering aimlessly isn't fun, and it just leads to frustration when you're on your fifth attempt and still cant find anything. The artwork is nice, and I like the water splash animation. Cool game, I wish I knew where to go. |
| Apr 5 05:07:48 | 15m 31s | The March to heaven | ♥ 2 | wow. Seriously, I was not ready for the emotions on this one. Absolutely incredible, and seriously well written. The artwork is superb, and very adorable. 5 stars!! |
| Apr 5 05:14:52 | 7m 04s | CryptoHunk Market Platform | ♥ 2 | "money (not to scale)" humor on the title screen?! That's a rare sight! Great work, and the gameplay was unique! |
| Apr 5 05:24:34 | 9m 42s | Fall-o-rama | ♥ 2 | 1552 was my best score, but I think it was too easy, I decided to end the run as opposed to actually making mistakes. As a general piece of advice, make hitboxes smaller than the image for the objects. That way you never run the risk of the player feeling like they took a hit when they shouldn't've. Plus, it makes for some clutch moments of joy when you sneak past an obstacle. |
| Apr 5 14:35:29 | 9h 10m | Unfamiliar | ♥ 2 | I'm always a huge fan of your work! I love the little letters that are written at the houses. The 3 color Greyscale art style was also really well done! All the details of the mountain-looking walls, the particles your bird leaves behind as they fly, and the *really cool* shockwave during the echolocation were fantastic! This is a bit of a silly note to comment on, but I really liked how one of the houses was buried under spikes. It came by surprise, and was pretty amusing. Adding on to what Dandala88 said, perhaps limiting the number of echoes between houses could balance the spam strategy. I didn't even consider spamming the echolocate button when I played, but I can see how that makes the threat a lot easier. All around another remarkable entry! Great game as always. |
| Apr 5 14:56:24 | 20m 55s | Old Run | ♥ 1 | I'm a big fan of the voxel graphics! By the way, is there even a pharmacy I can find? I was looking for a building as a win condition, but I couldn't find anything. Perhaps adding a map would help. Great work on the humor too! |
| Apr 5 15:00:38 | 4m 14s | Foul Play | ♥ 0 | Wow, a LAN multiplayer game? That's the first I've seen this jam! It's a shame I didn't have anyone to play it with. I imagine it's more fun with friends, since it looks like you can attack them, though as a single player experience, it's pretty bland. I like the circus aesthetic, and the character is well drawn! Nice work. |
| Apr 5 15:05:20 | 4m 42s | What, You APE? | ♥ 3 | HA! What a brilliant take on the theme. Top marks for humor! I wasn't able to defeat the boss, and on some runs I never even saw it, but my top score was stopping 51 monkeys. The artwork is incredible (especially the Shakespeare ghost) and the screaming monkey noises are hilarious. Great work all around! Ahh, and the title of the game is a play on "What, you egg." Haaaaa! |
| Apr 5 15:13:52 | 8m 32s | The Inconvenience Store | ♥ 1 | Ditto on the sensitivity note. I also had some other issues in the webGL build. I wasn't able to hit escape to regain control of the mouse, I had to wait until after the run ended, which isn't too bad, and I only noticed it because a friend messaged me during the run and I couldn't read it until the game was over. The graphics are easy to read, and the sound effects are nice. The choice of word every has been using is "Cozy" and I think that fits. Nice work! |
| Apr 5 15:24:42 | 10m 50s | Rockmageddon | ♥ 2 | Ooh, this was a lot of fun! I like the balance of saving the shield to allow a meteor to hit a place it's already struck, and moving the shield out of the way to let the ships through. Very fun gameplay, and it perfectly fits the theme. Great work! |
| Apr 5 15:31:39 | 6m 57s | Snowman Souls | ♥ 2 | The music could use some different synths and some audio balancing. The lead guitar(?) is especially irritating. The gameplay is a lot of fun, and I love the little "on nooo" as you melt. ha! the art is adorable, and the levels were well made. Also I wasn't expecting that last level, with the car and the hundreds of trash cans. Fantastic work! |
| Apr 5 15:36:17 | 4m 38s | School Grade | ♥ 2 | The most important thing for an endless runner is some metric of score. There's no indication of how well you are doing, or any way to share a highscore / record. It's also worth mentioning the difficulty. In the few minutes (and dozens of runs) I spent playing, I was only ever able to jump the first locker a single time. It's way too hard. I like the idea, but it's a bit rough around the edges. |
| Apr 5 15:45:35 | 9m 18s | Sorcery's End | ♥ 3 | I loved the low poly models, for both the structures and the environment. The bug too, everything looked great. The music was a bop, and the difficulty scaled nicely! I feel like you should get money when killing a bug instead of completing a wave, but hey, both work. Nice game! |
| Apr 5 15:53:48 | 8m 13s | Submergia | ♥ 1 | I feel like I should be able to bring my head above the surface of the water to regain oxygen. It's pretty silly that I'm drowning while at the surface. Also, good lord, that low oxygen warning is loud! Congrats on finishing a game. |
| Apr 5 16:02:51 | 9m 03s | Safe Spot | ♥ 3 | Wow! There is a whole lot going on, and it's pretty crazy how much you can do in this game. The art is incredible, and makes a very eerie setting, which works perfect for the mood you set. Marvelous work all around! |
| Apr 5 16:07:04 | 4m 13s | D-Lay Guetta Party Hard | ♥ 1 | I love the 3d models! The character look like they're having fun, and I love how the screen turns into the windows :( face. The artwork is fantastic, and the music is pretty nice too! The sound of partygoers getting smacked is pretty funny as well. I don't know if you were aiming for humor, but I found it hilarious. Great game! |
| Apr 5 20:22:41 | 4h 15m | Mia's Bear Service | ♥ 1 | I love how at the end, the machine explodes and fills the room with all the bears you made. It's a fun details that really makes the end screen more lively. The art is adorable, and the music is fun too! Great work! |
| Apr 5 20:25:49 | 3m 08s | Nuclear Doom | ♥ 1 | The controls on the webgl build are a bit rough, as pressing up and down will scroll the page. |
| Apr 5 20:39:39 | 13m 50s | Riverlands | ♥ 2 | It takes some getting used too, but the idea is really cool! The art is nice, and the sound effects definitely add to the experience. Nice work! |
| Apr 5 20:49:09 | 9m 30s | Keep Me Alive | ♥ 4 | Oh wow the ghost is adorable! All the characters are, really. The stories are a lot of fun, and the little noises here and there are seriously fantastic! Wonderful job. |
| Apr 5 20:55:18 | 6m 09s | The Endless Junkyard | ♥ 2 | The models are really well made, and the sound effects are pretty rad too! I love how it becomes incredibly chaotic immediately. There enough time to learn how it works with the tutorial, and then *WHAM* you're on your own and the pile is growing fast! Very fun concept, and executed well. Nice work. |
| Apr 5 20:58:45 | 3m 27s | Everybody stay calm! | ♥ 1 | Very nice game! I love how the characters are spontaneously combusting, from seemingly nothing. It's pretty fun, and the quicktime events for putting out the fire is a great touch. The artwork is nice too. ALL GLORY TO THE HYPNO TOAD. |
| Apr 5 21:11:37 | 12m 52s | Freemine Castle | ♥ 1 | I LOVE the voice acting. The guessing puzzles, not so much, but it was a great time, so I can't complain. Also, the "nani?!" when falling into the water. ahhh, the humor is top notch. Great game! |
| Apr 5 21:18:45 | 7m 08s | Wrong Road | ♥ 2 | Hero I go, driving down a foggy road at full speed ahead! Ha! The game is pretty great! nice work. |
| Apr 5 22:17:56 | 59m 11s | Fire Escape | ♥ 1 | I love the voice acting! The chaos made this a very fun game. The 3D models are really well made too! Great game. |
| Apr 5 22:27:59 | 10m 03s | The Beast Within | ♥ 1 | The art and 3d models are incredible! I loved the animations! Especially the sneaking over legos, or stepping on a rake. Absolutely great attention to detail. Marvelous work. |
| Apr 5 22:39:13 | 11m 14s | Chronolapse | ♥ 1 | Wow, I love the aesthetic! The dreamlike clock environment is really surreal, and the PS1 era low polygon models add to it! Very cool. |
| Apr 5 22:45:06 | 5m 53s | Malpractice | ♥ 6 | Oh man, the mafia breaking into the room and killing the guy caught me by surprise! Also, the minigames were fun! I love how the characters look like LEGO people. Man, there's a lot to enjoy with this one. Great job all around! |
| Apr 5 22:56:56 | 11m 50s | Jeesus's stroll in the park | ♥ 1 | What a concept. The city is really well made, ad at one point I broke free from the car blockade. The city outskirts are really nice, and it's an odd choice not to include them in the game's main section. The controls were pretty rough. W didn't move me forwards, and A rotated the camera, so I could only rotate the camera and move down / right. Anyway, the humor was pretty fantastic, and I love the idea. Great game! |
| Apr 6 16:16:16 | 17h 19m | Cussmuss: the ice cone fuss | ♥ 1 | The story and humor are great, but I think the audio needs a big change. The the in-level music is pretty irritating, and it's about a 4 second loop. Other than that, the artwork is funny, and I love the character designs. Great work! |
| Apr 6 16:20:57 | 4m 41s | Do It Later | ♥ 2 | I love the variety in tasks! I almost wish the PONG was against an AI instead of the arrow keys, ha! The visuals are fantastic, and I like how you can turn off the lamp, even if it has no bearings on the gamepaly. Really cool game. |
| Apr 6 16:26:08 | 5m 11s | Flowers Photos & Pills | ♥ 5 | The mood is super emotional! I love how there's an option to change the language. I don't speak Spanish, so having the option to change it to English is super appreciated! Everything is so well drawn, and I love how the objects fade away symbolizing all the things about her that you have forgotten. Ahh, it's such a well made game. Great job. |
| Apr 6 16:33:37 | 7m 29s | OSTRO | ♥ 1 | I love the retro operating system layout! The fact that only 2 windows can be functioning at a time is also amusing. The puzzles are really nice, and I loved learning a little more about the company by sneaking into peoples emails. ha! Very cool game! |
| Apr 6 16:40:05 | 6m 28s | Sacrificium (Sacrifice) | ♥ 0 | I think the game was a little slow. I like the puzzles, but it eventually becomes annoying when you need to backtrack 4 rooms while walking at the slow pace. The artwork is phenomenal, and I love how the music gets more intense as you walk past the guard. Cool game. |
| Apr 6 16:44:29 | 4m 24s | PopCat Hoover Disaster | ♥ 2 | Ha! I love everything about this. The music is a bit... strange to say the least, but it only added to the humor. Fantastic animations, lovely "story" (you know, from the cat's perspective, the vacuum is some terrible monster) and great gameplay to boot. Solid entry. |
| Apr 6 16:54:32 | 10m 03s | Impending Darkness | ♥ 2 | Wow, this was a lot of fun. I think my score was 60 something? I should've taken a screenshot, I had a really good run going. I think the hitboxes for the sticks should be a bit larger. It's a terrible feeling when you're struggling to pick up and object that you're standing on. The spooky voices were really well made, and I loved the 3D models of everything! Seriously great work! |
| Apr 6 17:00:52 | 6m 20s | Pots of Problems | ♥ 5 | Oh my god, that artwork is absolutely incredible. Definitely the best looking game I've played so far. Ah, and the little poster on the wall, and the cat, and all the tiniest of details. Super good looking! The music is nice, and I love the sound effects. I feel like I as playing it wrong, but I was able to keep the closest plant alive essentially forever, since it's right next to the potion. It didn't matter how much I was slowed down, I could always restore the center plant. Even still, this game is outstandingly well drawn, and I wish you all the best! |
| Apr 6 17:11:22 | 10m 30s | Lost in Time | ♥ 2 | I think the difficulty needs to be toned down. The spikes are so small they blend in to the bumpy platforms. Not to mention this game has zero checkpoints (as far as I can tell). The slightest mistake feels way too punishing, and the further you get the more frustrating it is to poke your toe on a spike you didn't even see. (also the bit with the bird... it feels bad waiting for a ride in a game about running out of time) The slime enemies had me super paranoid, because I have no idea if I can kill them with a goomba-stomp, or if jumping on the slime would end my run, so I just avoided them at all costs. You should definitely find a way to make it clearer if they *can* be jumped on though. I think implementing new mechanics deep into a game without checkpoints gives the player way too much reason to avoid experimenting with the mechanics. Critical feedback aside, I love the design for the character. The obstacles are well made, and the gameplay is fun. The idea of choosing weather or not to take a harder path in order to gain a few more precious seconds is a great concept, and you did a good job implementing it. Cool game! Edit: Ahh, good call. I missed the part about jumping on the monsters in the game description. thanks! |
| Apr 6 17:20:36 | 9m 14s | Running Late | ♥ 1 | Haa! I love how I can keep bother jimmy the mechanic over and over. The different dialogue is fantastic. Ohh man, I loved the story, and the fun ways of interacting with people! Very nice game! |
| Apr 6 17:36:23 | 15m 47s | Deadline Lab | ♥ 3 | Wow, I've never played a game quite like this! It's a very interesting game trying to balance all the different stats. The characters are very well drawn too! Great work all around. |
| Apr 6 17:46:55 | 10m 32s | Foster The Beeples | ♥ 1 | ALFONZO NOOOOOOOO! He died 5.7 schmekledorfs young. Ahh, I love this game. The artwork is adorable, and the little things I can buy for my beeple make it a marvelous experience. All around a good time. Great work. Edit: also, by the way, the medicine requires you to have 5 money to buy, but it only takes away 2 money. |
| Apr 6 17:53:31 | 6m 36s | Tanky the Eternal Tank | ♥ 2 | The artwork is really well made! Voxel art is tough, and you did a great job. I think it's a bit silly how dying rewards you and completing a level punished you, but hey. It's a really solid game, and I had a great time playing it. Nice work! |
| Apr 6 17:56:30 | 2m 59s | Feed'em all | ♥ 2 | Ooh, it's not very common that you see an original twist on a tower defense. I love how each enemy needs to be fed a specific meal, ha! Great idea, and the 3d models look lovely. Nice work! |
| Apr 6 18:04:48 | 8m 18s | What Have You Drawn? | ♥ 5 | Oh man, the green dude's idle animation is my spirit animal. The art is fantastic, and I low how every stage completely changes the art style around. The transition effect from one level to another is also incredibly well done! Great job! |
| Apr 6 18:10:37 | 5m 49s | Drowsy Drop | ♥ 5 | WOW! I love how eldritch the art becomes as you fall deeper and deeper. The artwork is outstanding! I also love how there are multiple audio tracks that get swapped in as the game gets more nightmarish. Seriously well done! |
| Apr 6 18:24:03 | 13m 26s | WHEN NANA SAYS IT'S TIME FOR SCHOOL | ♥ 3 | Oh my god, wow, what a creative idea! Seriously, this is going to be in the top games for Innovation, guaranteed (or any category for that matter). The artwork is so comfortable looking. The soft colors and the vector graphics are fantastic! ahhh! It's so easy to lose yourself (in a good way) in the folders just staring in awe at how much content there is in this game. How in the world, this is so good. The music is great, but the voice acting is the icing on the cake! I mean, every aspect of this game is top quality, and it's not even a .exe file, it's a series of files and folders! So unbelievably creative. How did you think of this? I'm definitely sharing this with my friends. Bravo. |
| Apr 6 18:33:39 | 9m 36s | Pompeii Ludum Dare 50 | ♥ 4 | I love the art style! Is it possible to dodge the rock falling from the sky? It moves so fast and there's no time to react. I think there needs to be some metric of score that shows up when you die / on the title screen. |
| Apr 6 18:46:27 | 12m 48s | Boss Rush: Tibbs Under Fire! | ♥ 1 | I love the art style, and the dialogue at the beginning of the game is fantastic. "You need to kill me quick!" funny stuff. I was able to safe-spot the boss, by the way. I obviously didn't sit there for 20 minutes smacking him at level 3 though. Just a heads up. _____safespot.PNG All around, this was a great game! Nice work. |
| Apr 6 18:57:16 | 10m 49s | Runic Moon | ♥ 1 | Ooh, the music is pretty dang catchy. I LOVE the artwork. the character is super adorable. My top score was 35, but I think I was in a situation where there genuinely wasn't the shape I needed. I tried screenshotting it and everything, but snipping tool screwed up and I didn't save the image. whoops. Really fun game though. Great work! |
| Apr 6 19:12:05 | 14m 49s | Feast or Famine | ♥ 2 | I like how the first level teaches you about dashing through enemies, and how it regains time. I didn't really need that mechanic until the last level though, as the dungeons were pretty easy. I like the artwork, and the character designs were fun. Nice game! |
| Apr 6 19:26:14 | 14m 09s | Slime Showdown | ♥ 3 | ooh, this is a fun boss fight game! I love the enemy designs, and the character's design especially! The background art is really well made, and I feel like it's underappreciated how much work must've gone into it. It looks great! Nice work all around. |
| Apr 6 19:42:19 | 16m 05s | Mad Monkey Manor | ♥ 2 | Haaa! I love the "dark souls" "YOU DEAD" screen. The artwork is fantastic! I love the character. The music is hilariously over the top, and I love it. Great work. |
| Apr 6 19:55:20 | 13m 01s | Duck It! | ♥ 2 | I love the artwork, and the CGI duck at the end was pretty interesting. The story is fun, the upgrades are cool, and the music fits perfectly. Great game! |
| Apr 6 20:00:29 | 5m 09s | Kuddelmuddel | ♥ 3 | I love the art work! The minigames were fun, and I wish there were more of them! Great job all around! |
| Apr 6 20:38:35 | 38m 06s | Meow~~~~ | ♥ 3 | I befriended all the cats, but I wasn't sure what to do after that. I see a screenshot with a gate, so I assume there's additional levels I haven't been able to reach. I wish the music loop was a little longer! Nice game. |
| Apr 6 20:45:27 | 6m 52s | HANG UP! | ♥ 3 | I'm a huge fan of the art style, and the voice acting is fantastic! All the little details in the characters are easy to miss since I'm focused on typing, but I played through a second time just to enjoy the art. Seriously well done! |
| Apr 6 20:52:42 | 7m 15s | Dont Wake Up! | ♥ 4 | I'm a huge fan of the surreal landscapes! There's a lot of dream aesthetics this Ludum Dare, and this one's atmosphere stands out above the rest. Really nice work! |
| Apr 6 21:04:36 | 11m 54s | RIG WRECKENING | ♥ 5 | I'm a big fan of the graphics. At one point I was able to hop on top of the helicopter, ha! My best score was 16. It gets really difficult once half the ground is missing, ha! Fantastic game. |
| Apr 6 21:17:19 | 12m 43s | Immortal Snail | ♥ 1 | Ah yes, the ol' snail hypothetical. This really is one of the best takes on the theme, ha! I should've read that there were 11 levels before goin into it, because as soon as I beat level 10 I just assumed it went on forever and closed the game. The voice acting is fantastic, and I love how the gun exists but does nothing but make the snail taunt you. It's pretty useful for shooting around corners and listening for a snail's response though. Hilarious idea, and wonderfully executed. |
| Apr 7 00:50:32 | 3h 33m | We Can Bounce Back | ♥ 1 | First off, I love the sound effects for bouncing off the walls. It was pretty satisfying to charge full speed into wall within a tight corridor back and forth. Also, there is a LOT of cool mechanics that get added. Primarily the boxes where both characters need to bounce off of simultaneously; that was a fun one. The game does a great job at teaching the player how the game works. The tutorial section at the start where you manage one player at a time is a really great way to keep the game simple for the player to learn how it all works. And building off of that, it gets hectic, but never to a point where it's unmanageable. The later stages definitely took a few tries, but it never felt annoying to try again. (as others have pointed out, you can occasionally die bouncing off a box near the edge of the screen) My strategy was to keep the two characters as close as possible so I can move both of them together. It definitely kept the game from becoming a management nightmare. I think the art is very simple to read, but the background is a bit empty. Obviously you don't want to overwhelm the player with distracting background elements. I think some small dark grey particles slowly sweeping across the screen would add a lot while fitting the aesthetic. Overall this is a solid game! Great job, and congrats on your first Ludum Dare! |
| Apr 7 01:04:32 | 14m 00s | We Have to Talk | ♥ 4 | I love the 1-bit art! The scenery is really well drawn (I especially love the tree) and the dialogue is pretty great too. I can't believe she didn't like my gift of a trampoline. Man, it's like she doesn't even like me or something. The humor is fantastic! All around a nice game. |
| Apr 7 01:09:50 | 5m 18s | Keep It Steaming | ♥ 4 | I love the voice acting, and the variety in mini games kept it engaging for quite a long time! Really well done. |
| Apr 7 01:14:36 | 4m 46s | Bath Time | ♥ 2 | The humor is top notch, and the graphics are exceptionally great! All the details in the background like the cacti and bushes are easy to overlook, but I can tell a lot of effort went into making them, and it paid off! The music is great, and I love the bit about no self-respecting cowboy ever taking a bath. ha! I wish when you lost, your cowboy would scream "Ahhh!" or something, but the ragdolling was equally as funny. Great job! |
| Apr 7 01:26:52 | 12m 16s | Somnipathy | ♥ 4 | Wow, the artwork is as impressive as it is terrifying. Marvelous work! I feel like there should be a few more collectibles, it seems like it was primarily phones, with the occasional coffee. I also love the the monster following you can enter doors. ha! it caught me by surprise, because for a second there I thought I had some time to breath. Really nice game. |
| Apr 7 01:41:04 | 14m 12s | Infectious - Delay the inevitable | ♥ 2 | The idea is super cool, and wow is it tough. (maybe I'm just bad) but I wasn't ever able to last more than 30 seconds, ha! The music fit really well! nice game. |
| Apr 7 02:53:08 | 1h 12m | Leaky Blood | ♥ 3 | I really love the creative ideas here. The ground losing pips every time something happens on it is a super cool idea, and I love how it ties in to the theme. The art is minimalistic, and is very easy to read (plus the color palette is nice too!). I wish there was some audio, but it's fine without it. All around, this is a super cool game! |
| Apr 7 03:08:00 | 14m 52s | Catastrophe | ♥ 1 | I can't believe my own cat would betray me. well, actually... I love the humor, and the artwork is pretty cute too! I think the player and obstacles move a bit oo fast in the first section, but it definitely got better. The bit with the anvil should havea visual indication that the cat will no longer drop it on you. Everything else was perfect! Great work. |
| Apr 7 03:19:50 | 11m 50s | Leaf the Ghost behind | ♥ 3 | I love the growls from the enemies! The characters are also very cute, and the white outline (and crumpled ground) reminds me a lot of Paper Mario. The platforming is pretty solid. Great work! |
| Apr 7 03:42:38 | 22m 48s | Outrun the future | ♥ 1 | I had an issue where I would travel at a rate of one lane per frame, making it very difficult to navigate lanes until I was down to two, in which the game became much more manageable. The art looks good, (I'm sucker for outrun aesthetics) and the music was funky. Nice work. ______score.PNG |
| Apr 7 03:54:29 | 11m 51s | Sun Chaser (Survival Platformer) | ♥ 2 | The game definitely picks up in difficulty, but I think I got the hang of it. ______score.PNG I love the music, and the art is well made too! The gameplay is a little rough, and hitting a single tree is almost an instant death sentence. Overall, it's a good time. |
| Apr 7 15:59:39 | 12h 05m | Inevitable Greenery | ♥ 2 | The scenery and artwork is incredible! 3D models are something I have yet to even try, so I'm always impressed by what people can do in a game jam. I think the camera kept getting stuck and I couldn't rotate it? It took some effort in some places. I had to play it twice, since the first run I got stuck! _______stuck.PNG Even still I had a great time. Lovely and relaxing game. |
| Apr 7 16:50:45 | 51m 06s | The Long Journey Home | ♥ 2 | I love the artwork! Perhaps adding some wispy clouds to fly through, or some decorative clouds under the islands could spice up the single-colored void below. I wish I had more control over the camera. The top down angle isn't bad, but I'd like the option to freely rotate it around, since an over-the-shoulder view would be nice at times as well. Also, you never get to see the character's face in game due to the angle, which I think is a weird choice. It's pretty relaxing floating between islands, but maybe a bit too slow? Also, are the letters placed randomly? I had one generate under a tree and I couldn't reach it. _______stuck.PNG Anyway, I know the above paragraph was pretty negative, but I really enjoyed the game! Also I like how the islands don't have invisible walls (or at least one of them didn't) and I was able to just hop off into my death. ha! Great game! |
| Apr 7 17:17:17 | 26m 32s | Fading Crown | ♥ 2 | First off, the artwork is simply outstanding. The backgrounds are beautiful, and the enemy designs are creative and inspiring. On the flipside, losing the abilities makes it feel like there's a specific order I should've collected the flowers in, but did it wrong, and it's near impossible to avoid death when you can't fight. Jumping over the tree golems is pretty precise, especially without a double jump. I initially lost the jump, then the sword, and I got softlocked while going for the final flower. I hit a lava droplet and fell into a white screen. _______stuck.PNG On that note, the lava droplets looks like decorative background elements, so it really caught me off guard when that's what killed my run. I think forcing the player to sacrifice their move-set is a really creative idea, but I feel like it could've been executed a bit better. Perhaps if it was more obvious that you can jump over the tree golems, or if their hitbox was smaller then it would be more forgiving, but in its current state losing the sword before any other moves is a huge mistake, and there's no indication of that before you lose it. The background music, like the artwork, was fantastic and it really helped set the mood. Plus, having greyscale colors and a single chromatic color, in this case orange, was a REALLY great decision. The art style stands out so much over other games. Great work. |
| Apr 7 18:37:30 | 1h 20m | Hyper Kremlin Bros. II Tournament Edition | ♥ 2 | Oh wow, the gameplay was super unique! I also enjoy how the theme tied in to the artwork and gameplay. Nicely done! |
| Apr 7 19:04:37 | 27m 07s | Quota Qrunch | ♥ 3 | Solid job on the humor! I love how all my coworkers got replaced by robots, even the SUPERVISOR? funny stuff. The cutscene at the end was pretty great too! I love the "motivational" posters. ha! Great work all around. |
| Apr 7 19:22:13 | 17m 36s | Nightwaker | ♥ 2 | The artwork is fantastic!! MY biggest note is in the level with the city, the Parallax was backwards. You want the objects further back to move *slower* than the foreground. I don't think that issue was in any other levels? It was most noticeable in the one with the townsfolk. The art reminds me of Limbo, but I've also never played that game. You perfectly nailed the spooky dark aesthetic, and the fact that your character is drowsy and you gotta keep them awake adds some extra challenge that makes this game different from the rest. It was definitely tough to type things that fast in some sections (I'm not the fastest typer, admittingly) the story and mood are super eerie, and I just love it. Great game all around! |
| Apr 7 19:33:27 | 11m 14s | The Arcane Artist | ♥ 3 | Oh wow, I absolutely love this system of magic! It's something I haven't seen before, and as someone who loves to scribble, it's just a lot of fun! Plus that hand... chills. I love this game so much. I only survived about 3 minutes in my best run, but wow I enjoyed it. Great game! |
| Apr 7 19:46:52 | 13m 25s | Hard Times | ♥ 5 | Wow! I'm absolutely in awe at how large of a team you had working on this! It's seriously impressive that you were able to manage this many developers. And it shows. The graphics are amazing, and the 3D models are especially impressive. I love the NormalMaps and BumpMaps on the materials too! That's the sort of stuff that couldn't be done with a smaller team. It's very polished for a weekend long jam! I also love how the mouse sensitivity is in the form of a text box instead of a slider. Setting the sensitivity to 999 or 0 was pretty funny. Great work all around, and I had a great time. |
| Apr 7 19:55:56 | 9m 04s | Hypercube Warrior | ♥ 3 | Oh wow this is so creative. It's such a subtle detail, but I love how the cube rotates as you walk around a room. It looks incredibly polished for a weekend long jam. The artwork is stellar, and the music is a bop! I think it's a bit easy to get lost, and there were some times when I was just aimlessly wandering in rooms I've already cleared while looking for the boss. I don't know how you could implement a map for this game, but I think it needs one. Mostly just to record rooms you've been to already, not necessarily to lead you directly to the boss. Anyway, this is a super cool game and I'm gonna be showing it to my friends. Great work! |
| Apr 7 20:45:23 | 49m 27s | Light at the Museum | ♥ 3 | Oh man, what an ending. I guess the quest for the unholy grail couldn't have ended well. I absolutely loved the puzzles, and the character is adorable. Really well made! (plus, I appreciate the reset button, since I got stuck once) |
| Apr 7 20:56:09 | 10m 46s | Pizza Gal | ♥ 1 | Ha, I love the plot of the game. The character design is super cute, and I absolutely adore the art style. It's also pretty great how the character turns the bike in the HUD while you turn on the map. The levels were really well made, and I enjoyed the challenge of the later levels. Great work all around! |
| Apr 7 21:06:22 | 10m 13s | Mythic Garden | ♥ 5 | I love the humor! Ah yes, and this is madam's fire tree. it lights other trees on fire. Most beautiful tree in the garden, yes? The upgrades are nice, and it's pretty satisfying upgrading your gear as the garden grows. The character is adorable, and I just love the art work. Any 3D models during a weekend long Jam is impressive, but these simply look great. Wonderful work. |
| Apr 7 21:13:05 | 6m 43s | Cheap Blue | ♥ 5 | The boat and rock models are very well made! I'm also a big fan of the water shader + foam along the edges of the rocks. The music was super relaxing and fitting for a casual boat ride, while when the sharks are nearby, the music picks up, which I really appreciated. Stellar work! |
| Apr 7 21:33:08 | 20m 03s | Waterlogged | ♥ 2 | In a strange way this reminds me of Spelunky. but in reverse. I really like the gameplay! It encourages greed, while perfectly screwing you over every time you take a risk. ha! My best score was 45. Cool game! |
| Apr 7 21:41:11 | 8m 03s | Circuits | ♥ 1 | I love the dialogue, and the minigames are fun! I love how when the computer "talks" the traces on the board light up. Also the little dots sliding along the traces are really nice! All around a pretty solid bundle of minigames. Great job! |
| Apr 7 21:45:12 | 4m 01s | You Will Fall | ♥ 2 | Ahhh THE POP UP WINDOW! The humor is fantastic and brilliant. I wish it had checkpoints, but I can see how that defeats the purpose. Really well made, and it got a good chuckle out of me. Great game. |
| Apr 7 22:11:24 | 26m 12s | Nuclear Arms 8.5er: Skeleton Survivor | ♥ 3 | Oh heck yes! I've been waiting for the next Nuclear Arms game! All around, this one is a wonderful time. I should've seen the robot coming, but it's a bit of shame my incredible run had to end. I was joking to myself, "Perhaps it was I who was inevitable" as I destroyed giant waves of enemies. No- it was the giant red robot who crushed my spine. **HA!** With every game this franchise just gets better. Thanks for sticking with it, and making a great game every time. Cheers! |
| Apr 8 00:45:36 | 2h 34m | Rest In Pieces | ♥ 3 | The story is pretty amusing, and holy cow the art is very charming. I love the character design, and the art style as a whole is fantastic. I was in the same situation as polite-stories, where I assumed I was stuck in a small room, but what I thought were walls turned out to be a floor. I think having some sort of mini-map to show where the walls are, where the cops are, and where you hid the body parts could be an especially useful feature. Did I say the art is good yet? because man, I love the art style. ha! Great game. |
| Apr 8 01:01:52 | 16m 16s | Flickerlight | ♥ 5 | Ah man, the dialogue artwork is super adorable! The pixel graphics are nice too, especially the trees! I love the little interactions among the bees, and how some are cooperative, and others tell you to get lost. It's fantastic. Great work! |
| Apr 8 01:36:04 | 34m 12s | Somnokid | ♥ 1 | Wow, it's incredible how even with 7 artists, the style looks uniform. Seriously great work all around. The gameplay is unique, the challenge is fun, and the sound design is top notch as well. Also the background look super charming, the "scanline effect" on the red circle is gnarly, and all around this game feels good. Definitely one of the best this jam. Stellar work. |
| Apr 8 01:44:16 | 8m 12s | The Last Day With You | ♥ 3 | I thought it was pretty goofy how instead of actually sitting there spending time, I left her alone so I could run outside grabbing flowers and stuff. "Hey yo grandma, I saw this fungus and it made me think of you. you can have it." ha. The art is pretty solid, and the short game is nice and touching. The atmosphere is really well set, and I like your take on the theme. Nice game, especially for your first! Great work. |
| Apr 8 01:52:23 | 8m 07s | Ghost Caretaker | ♥ 2 | Oh wow the art is super cute. I especially love the foggy forest. Serious props to the artist. The gameplay is fun and unique, while also being perfectly challenging. Great game all around! |
| Apr 8 18:29:45 | 16h 37m | Heavy is thy Cart | ♥ 0 | I enjoyed the humor! Finding a spare brick in the way near the top of the tower was pretty amusing, and I loved how goofy the plot is. Also, I seriously appreciate being able to hover over the bonuses / curses on the left of the screen to read what they do a second time. I ended up getting softlocked when my chisel hit level 10; it jsut stopped swinging and progress came to a halt. Also, god dang, I almost checked every tile on the third floor with no luck finding the foreman, ha! _______stuck.PNG I gave it second try but ran into a different softlock while trying to go around a corner. I turned, but didn't scoot forwards. I think it had something to do with me switching tools before turning? The dude made me hammer decorations a second time after I switched tools but before I turned, but I don't think that happened on the turn where I softlcoked, so I don't know what to do to reproduce it. Anyway, I liked the art and the dungeon crawling was good fun. Nice work! |
| Apr 8 21:37:55 | 3h 08m | Doctor Dilly-Dally | ♥ 2 | Ha! I love the voice acting. As others have pointed out, the audio needs a bit of balancing. There were times when I wasn't sure how to proceed. The menu with the bad heart condition took forever to move ahead (I think I needed to hit the right arrow key?) and I couldn't figure out how to put pills in his cup. Hitting spacebar also resets the game... a list of controls would be really appreciated. The graphics are pretty great, and match the humor very well. Great work! |
| Apr 9 17:12:32 | 19h 34m | Carrot Grove | ♥ 4 | Ah man, I got the bad ending, ha! I think it's a bit unfortunate that I couldn't pick out different figurines afterwards, since the dude in the swamp told me to get a bear and rabbit, but the lady in the field told me to grab a horse, but it was too late since the figurine lady went to the library already. It's definitely a bit confusing, since characters are apparently known to lie, and I have no idea who to trust. The artwork is actually incredible. The story is pretty great, and every character was unique and interesting. Very great work! |
| Apr 9 17:15:55 | 3m 23s | Invasion of the Inevitable Space Rocks from Outerspace | ♥ 3 | I love how the voice over calls it the "weirdly scaled planet" ha! There's a surprising amount of humor in this game, and it's done wonderfully! The voice acting is fantastic. Great work. |
| Apr 9 17:32:29 | 16m 34s | It's Not Me It's You | ♥ 2 | Oh this is hilarious. It's a small detail, but I love how in the title screen, for "how to play" it changes the name of your date based on the previous screen. Nice! The dialogue was fun, and I love how she worked at McBurger Queen. Ah, what humor. And she has the audacity to break up with *me*?! The 3D models are fantastic, and I seriously adore the Banjo-Kazooie-esque voices when the characters speak. Great work all around! |
| Apr 9 17:43:46 | 11m 17s | Jelly Defense | ♥ 1 | So, the ultimate strategy is to just stack all of the towers on top of the queen. I made it to round 8 without taking any damage, and got a bit bored. There definitely needs to be a way to prevent you from stacking towers on the queen, or else the gameplay consists exclusively of watching and waiting. Perhaps having a radius of "no towers here" around the queen. I think that will force the player to keep moving the towers, which is a really creative idea that I've never seen before, but by allowing them to move the towers on the queen, there's no need to move them at all. ever. The music is fun, and the artwork is fantastic. Nice work! |
| Apr 9 17:55:22 | 11m 36s | DeePenguin Boreal Offensive | ♥ 2 | The game is super cute and the music is nice, but there's a huge oversight that needs to be addressed. I can just keep upgrading the popsicle stand to the point of absurdity. I reached popsicle stand level 50 before wave 8, and it defeats everything before they even make it on screen. I've never tried making a tower defense, so I don't know how hard it is to balance, but I think a good first step would be to make upgrading the towers cost more and more as you upgrade them. even if just raising the cost by 1 per level. it makes reaching level 10 go from $20 to $65, and level 20 goes from $40 to $230. Of course, you'd need to get rid of the $10 money cap for that to work. All around, it just needs to balance. the game looks and sounds great. Nice work! |
| Apr 9 18:22:20 | 26m 58s | Seed Of Time | ♥ 1 | The artwork is outstanding! It's a very nice color palette, which makes everything very readable. The difficulty is in desperate need of some balance though. Enemies from off screen shooting fast projectiles that home in on you is, simply put, bad design. There's no time to react and dodge, and even if there is, you'll possibly dodge off a cliff. I think slowing down the projectiles would make this game much more approachable. I've played your previous games, so I know you're not foreign to the world of level design, but the placement of enemies gives off the feeling of "the developers were playing the game a whole bunch, so it felt easy, and they wanted to make the game slightly difficult, but since they created the levels and knew where all the obstacles were, it's hard to gauge difficulty while designing it." That, in combination with how fast the projectiles are made it feel like I'm being punished for not knowing the layout of the levels. How could I? I haven't seen them yet. It goes without saying that the controls are tight. Your team makes games that feel great to play every time, and the dash mechanic both feels and looks good. I assume the engine you use doesn't have a full screen option for the builds? My monitor is outrageously huge, so the game taking up a tiny portion of it might also be why I had such difficulty. All in all, it's a great game, I just think it needs some balance in favor of the player. |
| Apr 9 18:37:45 | 15m 25s | RIITA | ♥ 7 | Wow the music is a bop! (the cat one is my favorite. Either that, or the more energetic version. what a jam) The artwork is crazy good, and I LOVE how you get to pick which team to be on. (#TeamNight) The 3D models are so good, the music is so good, the gameplay is tight. Ahh man, what a game. Seriously, hats off. great work all around. Very delightful, and I'm showing my friends. Edit: Listening to the soundtrack. OH MY GOD, what an absolute jam "Battle against the sun" is. Seriously, remarkable work on the music. Good lord, this is bound to win in Audio. |
| Apr 9 18:49:58 | 12m 13s | Hole | ♥ 2 | Oh man, this is great. I love the character design, and the old timey music in the background makes it feel like a black and white comedy film. The poses you can make this guy get into are absolutely great. Sometimes he won't grab the wall, and I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong, but other than that I had a great time. |
| Apr 11 02:04:21 | 31h 14m | Erefos | ♥ 4 | I don't know if it was just me, since none of the other comments have mentioned it, but I'm having serious troubles moving the character. They stop moving horizontally when I jump, and I have to hold right or left for a few seconds before they actually begin moving. I'm looking at the provided gifs on this page, and the issues moving the character that I had are very much not displayed in the gif, so I have no idea what happened. I honestly can't tell if this is an issue anybody else was having by their comments, because that really brought down the experience. The dash was pretty much the only means of travel, which made platforming incredibly difficult, and it didn't help that the screen goes dark making it impossible to tell where I'm trying to go. That aside, the artwork is incredible. The character animations, the backgrounds, the enemies, all of it is beautifully eerie and creepy, and I love it. I don't think hindering the players vision is inherently a bad gameplay decision, it's a really cool mechanic, and had the player controlled better I probably would've enjoyed the added challenge of minimal vision. Played on a qwerty keyboard, windows build on windows 10. I hope you can figure out what was happening with the controls. **EDIT**: I tried the game a second time. closed the application and re-opened, and the issues were gone. Gonna replay and give better feedback. Okay, the game played much much better, and I loved it. (also I was able to play it on controller, but the keyboard worked too) Anyway, no clue what that was all about. I take back everything negative I said, this game rocks. The darkness was never an issue, and the level designs are pretty nice. The checkpoints are perfectly spaced too, by the way. All around, a solid game. |
| Apr 11 02:22:57 | 18m 36s | Dinosaur Disaster | ♥ 1 | It's probably the engine you used, but having the option to go fullscreen / rescale the window is pretty important. My monitor is friggin' huge, so the window was tiny. ______smol.PNG The game was fun (and about dinosaurs! Heck yeah!) and I really liked the art. Nice work! |
| Apr 11 02:32:36 | 9m 39s | Ousted | ♥ 2 | I like how your spaceship gets upgrades! I think I saved all 100 people? (I think that was what the 100/100 indicated) I liked the art, and the controller support was nice too! Great work all around. |
| Apr 11 07:14:30 | 4h 41m | THEMARUNGA | ♥ 1 | ha! I love the humor in your games. It might just be me, but there's something hilarious about the planet being destroyed, followed by a goofy "Happy anniversary" text on the "you lose" screen. The voice acting is top notch, and the gameplay is fun. (maybe a bit too dark on some levels though?) Great work! |
| Apr 12 16:50:58 | 33h 36m | Pachinko is Life | ♥ 2 | The humor is fantastic! I love all the goofy decisions I needed to make. I don't know why the pachinko score was changing between rounds so dramatically. Some rounds I would end way in the lead, and begin the next round far behind. Anyway, the humor was great, the ending was fantastic, and I loved the pachinko. Great game. |
| Apr 12 17:03:04 | 12m 06s | The Inevitable Snowman | ♥ 4 | Wow this was fun. One of the best games this jam! I think the difficulty might ramp up too fast? It seems super calm for a while until out of nowhere it becomes unmanageable. The HUD can also obstruct some enemies behind it, making it a bit harder to gage how many enemies are back there. The graphics are amazing, the music and sounds are amazing, there are even collectable hats?! I'm seriously impressed. This is showing what the full potential of what a large team can achieve. Outstanding work. |
| Apr 12 17:08:46 | 5m 42s | Post Solis | ♥ 5 | Wow, this game is really polished! The 3D models look great, and the provided tips are much appreciated. There's a LOT of content in this game, which really shows what can be achieved when a large team works together to their full potential. Incredible work. |
| Apr 12 17:17:05 | 8m 19s | CVC Presents: The tale of Plague Doctor Man (John Withah) | ♥ 2 | Oh wow, the art work is well made, yet disgusting. There's a lot of rough edges to this game, like the tutorial being empty, or "Game over! Sample Text." but the gameplay is fine. I like the characters you can encounter, like the crazy guy with the knife. Nice work! |
| Apr 12 17:35:34 | 18m 29s | Winter strikes back! | ♥ 5 | I really enjoyed this one! At first, since the ritual to end winter was caused by lighting the scarecrow on fire, I thought being on fire was the objective, and dodged snow / ice. It took me a while to figure out why I was dying so fast, ha! The platforming was fun, and I like the pogo hopping! The cutscenes were cool, and I loved the designs of all the characters. Also the ending was cute, with the flower and all that. There were sections in the later parts of the game where I got hit by a wheel(?) that seemingly came out of nowhere (from the sky) and I didn't even know there was going to be a wheel there, so it felt a bit annoying to get hit from an object you couldn't have foreseen. Perhaps some indicator that wheels are spawning there could alleviate the problem. All around, this was a great game. Nice work! |
| Apr 12 17:55:28 | 19m 54s | Drawn Out | ♥ 0 | I think the deck I made was just really bad, but there's pretty much nothing you can do once the enemy has stuff on the board. They've got 4 cards, and after placing my own, they just get immediately destroyed. Oh, and you should probably add a limit to the number of characters allowed in your player's name / deck name. ______name.PNG my name continues for a while after that, but when on the title screen the rest gets cut off. ha! I feel like with most deck games, you don't wasn't the game to "play themselves". There needs to be more strategy than just picking which cards are in the deck. Also all my flying enemies were killed by non flying ones, which seems to defeat the purpose of a flying card. Coming from playing a decent amount of "Magic: The Gathering", I can't help but compare this game to that. Watching everything unfold while I can't do anything is a crummy feeling, especially when my deck is underperforming. I like the music and the visuals. The title screen buttons being cards is also a nice touch. Good game. |
| Apr 12 18:04:54 | 9m 26s | Bear’s Flower | ♥ 1 | I like how when you move "upwards" you get smaller, to show that you're walking into the background "depth-wards". The art is cute, the animations are nice, but (in the original version) there isn't really anything to do. The background is incredibly well drawn, by the way. If the art was made using multiple layers, you could probably add some simple parallax to give an illusion of more depth to the background. |
| Apr 12 18:13:06 | 8m 12s | Road Rage Mage | ♥ 3 | WOAH! The background has like, 9 layers to it. Actually outstanding. The animations are gorgeous, the background parallax, the special effects when casting spells, all of it is beyond outstanding. Again, this background has so many layers to it, I'm impressed! It all looks good. I was able to win in like, 3 turns by using the shield, boost, shield. It's a bit of a short game, but holy cow that background. Rest assured, the effort spent on that background made this an easy 5 star in graphics. And ooh boy, I don't hand those out frequently. Marvelous work. |
| Apr 12 18:20:09 | 7m 03s | UPDOG: The Ascension of 180 Sadie | ♥ 3 | The 3D models are really nice! I've yet to try modeling myself, since it seems super daunting, especially during a weekend long jam, but your team pulled it together! The clouds, the raft, the balloons, they all look great. I wasn't able to get very far, any my raft kept tilting, so all the boxes couldn't stay on it, but I still had a fun time. Great game! |
| Apr 12 18:29:29 | 9m 20s | Panic at the Museum | ♥ 2 | I think it's pretty funny how the character is just a floating hand. ha! The artwork is really nice, and I love the color palette. I think after getting hit by any hazard, it takes too long to respawn the player / move the camera to the spawn point. I know it's still a very short cutscene, but if you're trying to go as fast as possible, having to slow down because of a slight bump wit ha hazard is a rough feeling. All around, really great work! |
| Apr 12 18:39:55 | 10m 26s | Fritten Madness Extreme - Winter Edition | ♥ 1 | Oh god the fire at the end is the most perfectly cut abrupt disaster I've ever seen and it's hilarious. Also, I thought I had a pretty good score, but wow, someone got 17 thousand? Never mind, I look like a chump, so I'll just... not... upload a screenshot of my score. ha! Ah, screw it. ______score.PNG It's no 17K or anything, but I thought I did an alright job. Great game, and I love the humor. |
| Apr 14 17:43:12 | 47h 03m | Ceiling is Lava | ♥ 3 | Ooh, the puzzles were fun and really creative. I think the last level was a bit too easy though? There were a few levels near the start that I was able to block 100% of the lava at the source, and I just had to sit and wait for the level to end. A fast forward button would be cool. Really nice game! |
| Apr 14 17:48:47 | 5m 35s | Running the Clock | ♥ 1 | Ooh, it looks like there was a lot of inspiration from the game "Minit" (and if you haven't played that before, definitely look into it. I wasn't able to get too far. I didn't know what to do with the object I picked up. I thought I tried interacting with everything, but it's possible I missed something. Oh, and I think you should stop the timer while the player is reading text / dialogue. Some people read slower than others. Nice game! |
| Apr 14 17:53:26 | 4m 39s | Say Something | ♥ 1 | I love the particle trail behind the player! I think the game was a bit too short, but I enjoyed the story. Perhaps the story could continue, where you're talking to each other at the coffee shop, and you need to respond to their questions in a similar manner to the first level. The graphics are pretty cool, I enjoyed the black and white aesthetic. Nice work! |
| Apr 14 18:04:45 | 11m 19s | Wonderlife | ♥ 1 | Ah, that was depressing, yet well written and enjoyable. I love the easy to follow dual-choice responses, and the tiny details like the clock / calendar in the corner updating were really nice touches. The minimalist cooperate designs of the various health stats really fit the mood! Great work. |
| Apr 14 18:38:36 | 33m 51s | Demain Sera Bien | ♥ 1 | I completely missed the concept of dragging and dropping stuff, and yet my character lived to 55, which appears to be more than most judging from the comments. I feel like there should be a *huge* difference between the characters survival with and without the player's influence. People actually playing the game scored worse than I did just watching the game play its self, which I think is an issue. And yeah, on my second playthrough while actually dragging and dropping items, I survived the same amount of time. There should also be a "year counter" on screen so you can track your score before losing. Cool game. |
| Apr 14 18:51:17 | 12m 41s | Wally's Jump | ♥ 1 | A very simple endless runner. (or so I assume it's endless). My high score was 730. I love the upgrades and filters! (plus the option to play on a potato mode was very appreciated.) Nice work! |
| Apr 16 00:42:12 | 29h 50m | Paper Boy Flyin' High | ♥ 1 | HA! I love the *Utah Treepot*. That's a nice detail. The game is a lot of fun! I wish there were speed boosts at higher elevations than like, 4 feet. It's definitely more stressful forcing the player to stay at the ground. It's *only* difficult because of that limitation, and even still it's not too difficult when you get the hang of thigs. I made it to 100Km and decided to end the run. Cool game! |
| Apr 16 00:52:05 | 9m 53s | Their Next World | ♥ 1 | The tutorial is incredibly slow. I think allowing the player to advance text at their own pace is MUCH more preferred over waiting for the cutscene to advance its self. The tutorial would only take about a minute, but the forced cutscene makes it feel like five. I like the faces on the planets, and the variety of them in the last level. Cool game! |
| Apr 18 21:14:21 | 68h 22m | Everlast | ♥ 0 | The twist is pretty cool! I really enjoy games that "seem to know more than they should", such as tracking whether you've been banned from returning. Even before discovering the twist, I thought the scenery was really unsettling. The ambient background noise of deep rumbling and growls(?) made the whole experience uneasy, in a good mood-setting way. (which absolutely fits when you figure out the twist) The voice acting is spot on, and including 3D models in a 48 hour jam is incredible. The wide selection of furniture that can be collected and placed shows a huge amount of attention to detail, and it's impressive how much is in this game. It almost fits into your twist, but I honestly think the game is boring. As stated, not being able to level up is by design, but that makes the gameplay dull. The pickaxe swinging is jank if you click too fast, but doesn't auto fire when held, so it's a bit tedious. Also you can infinitely mine where you've already broken apart a gem-rock to get infinite gems from one rock, even though the rock is already gone. The game has flaws, and I can't tell if that was on purpose. I feel like the twist would work even better if the game actually had enough content to *really* delay the player from closing. Even if completely tacked on, adding arbitrary "upgrades" like a skateboard that costs 100 gems, or giving the player some sort of goal to reach would really add to the experience. Games where the player creates their own objectives are perfectly fine, take Minecraft for instance, but when the only objectives the player *can* create is to build a structure or reach x gems, making the gameplay that leads to the objective fun is critical. As a brief analysis, mining for gems and building structures are the two main mechanics. Building structures requires gems. If mining for gems isn't fun, then the entire game falls flat. Though it wouldn't solve all of the problems, adding some stylish particles while mining could help make it *feel* more fun. (Usually I'd replay the game to see if there were particles, but...) It feels like the focus was on the huge variety in 3D models, and not enough attention was put into gameplay. Again, perhaps that's what you were going for as a way to incentivize the player to press the quit button, thus discovering the twist. I just think the game could still be fun as a means to delay the inevitable. Anyway, after writing all of that I feel like a huge jerk, but I think it's still valid feedback. On a different note, I think it's pretty funny how the title screen replaces the letter 't' with a sword, despite a sword having zero relationship to this game whatsoever. Also, heck, this is a Compo entry, which makes all of this way more impressive. Nice work, and Godspeed! |
| Apr 18 22:01:11 | 46m 50s | Game About Trying to Gain More Time In A Time Cave | ♥ 1 | I love the story, and the "optional" collectibles. Was there a reward for collecting all of them? The last room especially was challenging to collect the gem on, yet it seemingly didn't do anything. (the last one, at least) I loved the artwork, and the jump/charge is a lot of fun. I think the last level had a bit too many moving parts. It became way too much to keep track of, especially when going for the gem. All around, great work! |
| Apr 18 22:27:47 | 26m 36s | Unspilled | ♥ 0 | I like the idea, and I wish it was a bit more polished. The camera makes some dramatic movements right before the bottle respawns, which makes it hard to keep the player's tray in one place. That ties into my notes about the difficulty, because good lord this is brutal. I'm not a huge fan of punishing mistakes by making the player redo a section, and the entire last 70% of the game is like this. I ran into a bug where my player disappeared and I could freely move the tray, and I think that's the only way I could've won. I made it past the part with the huge pit under the circles, but the next part onward was cheesed. (and seeing how most of it what came next was on a downwards slope, I don't think I could've had the patience to do it legit. Some of the most important feedback I've ever received during past Ludum Dares was that my games we're too difficult. Players told me that the difficultly felt like I made the game to "beat the players", and being the player in that situation just isn't fun. ______score.PNG I think there's definitely a lot of potential with this game if the character movement and camera were polished, and the difficulty toned down.
