Oct 3 15:00:36 Relay PeaJay ♥ 5 A game with a built in speedrun timer? I accept your challenge. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=urbO6bXI3z0 I had a strong start, but lost a lot of time from bonking. (Also, how are you supposed to beat that last checkpoint? In all my attempts I never got it.) Very strong game. The characters are adorable, especially the little dialogue faces. The background is a bit empty. I see there's a bit of blurry detail, (and there's even parallax!) but a couple layers of lighter or darker orange to make the parallax really pop would've been cool. It would be a bit of a balancing act to prevent the background from taking the attention away from the foreground, but a little more to it would be nice. The music is very relaxing. I guess since I was going for the speedrun I was wanting the song to be more upbeat and high-action, but the current song is very nice. I like the brass horns! This game is fantastic, by the way. I'm grasping at straws to give some critical feedback. On the topic of a speed-game though, I have a good history of speedrunning, so allow some optional feedback about making the game more enjoyable to speedrun. My first note is bonks, and not even with the feather boosts. _______Bonk1.png This is entirely just my opinion, and depending on what kind of game you want this to be, this note can be thrown out entirely. There are pro's and cons to both sides here. I would love to see your momentum not get cancelled when you crash into walls. A note about difficulty scaling: The section after flag 3 has a lot of corners for you to bonk on, and I found myself losing upwards of a second and just for bonking any corner. Losing that much time in the early part of the game requires me to either put in a ton of practice to consistently get a "good run" after flag 3, or accept mediocrity. Making the late game difficult makes sense, but I think the "easy to pick up, difficult to master" curve is a bit steep for the early section. Keeping the momentum would negate this issue, but make the game easier. Again, I don't know how precise you would want the estimated "prefect run" to be, but this addition would make it way more approachable to run. The feather boost-bonks are pretty great, I like that feature. That's a good place to punish players for their mistakes. (and the bonkless feather? *chef kiss*) Solid game. Great work as always!
Oct 3 15:24:13 23m 37s Bunny is going places ♥ 3 Ooh, that's some high quality meta humor. First off, the "Bunny-Is-Going-Placesverse" Looks amazing. the screen transition is great, and the *track layering*, oh my! Everything moving to the beat is a wonderful touch, and I love the stretch-squish in the animations. Each of the "islands" look great, and I love the details, like the abacus, or Dark Bunny not dancing at the end. ha! Ah, and the bird not flapping the wings bit. I love it. The difficulty picks up in just the perfect rate. You really nailed the difficulty curve on this game. The final level actually caught me off guard with how tough it was! I'm a big fan of the music. I know I mentioned the track layering already, but man that slaps. Also, that bass layer? Ah, it's amazing. Honestly, what a great game.
Oct 3 15:56:37 32m 24s Stalwart Planet Guard ♥ 2 The game is way too difficult. It's very creative, and I love it, but I can't for the life of me get anywhere in this game. I've played for about 15 minutes, and in only a single run I killed more than 3 enemies. You can say I'm just bad, but in most situations I found myself in there isn't anything to do. The enemies move at an absurd speed and shoot projectiles, there's no indication of how much health remains on a given enemy, and the player only gets a single hit of health? That's brutal! And it's a shame too, because I really wanted to continue playing. I love the idea. The level up screen (which I only ever saw a single time) looked really nice! I chose a damage upgrade, since I desperately needed it, but then before the second level up, I got sniped from an off screen enemy as I jumped between planets. consider giving the player 3 hits, which restore to full health when leveling up. It's way less punishing and it lets the player have the opportunity to explore the full potential of the game you have created. Giving the player more leniency and making the game easier should never be considered as a downgrade for your game. The easier it is, the more fun players will have. If you really want it to be difficult, add a secondary (and optional) "hard mode". The music picking up after the level up was a really cool surprise! Again, the soundtrack is great, but I didn't get to hear nearly enough of it. Ahh, and the graphics! *Stellar* work. The planets look great, and the main character is fantastic (I love the mustache). Seriously, great work on the graphics and audio. Anyway, yeah, that's about it. The difficulty is a bit much, but I like the game. Nice work.
Oct 3 16:12:35 15m 58s Hiccups ♥ 1 Just some rapid-fire thoughts in a sting of sentence fragments: It's a nice and well made platformer. It reminds be of Bubble Bobble for the NES. I think the sound effects are a bit loud. Some volume sliders would be nice. Overall, it feels nice to control. There's a huge amount of variety in the enemy types, all of them animated! It's cool how much you fit into this game! Lots of variety in the tiles too. It's got a lot of decoration! I think the theme is arbitrarily tacked on, if not entirely irrelevant. I found myself spamming the shoot fire button, and never noticed the "hiccups". The music is pretty cool, but as mentioned before, the sound effects are super loud and make the music harder to hear. Anyway, cool game and nice work!
Oct 3 16:23:19 10m 44s NetCast ♥ 2 I feel like there needs to be something in place to prevent the player from simply doing this: _______Strat.PNG And yet it feels as though that's the *only way to play the game*. It's a bit too easy if played this way, but what other options are there? you can spam tiles or lose. I feel like this has potential to be a better game with more "construction elements" like joints or something, but in its current state the goal isn't building a solid net. It's flooding every red pixel with a box. I like to goofy sounds the game makes when placing and object. Nice work.
Oct 3 16:38:38 15m 19s Cactus Hourglass ♥ 2 My computer's GPU is some hot garbage, and I couldn't get a stable framerate. I imagine Clayxels doesn't run smoothly for me. Due to the poor framerate, I'm unable to get far in the game, as the enemies move pretty fast, and I can't keep up. I like the character design! The cactus hat is fun. The guitar in the soundtrack is really cool, though the other sound effects are a loud and painful. Cool game! Nice work. **Edit**: By the way, you should remove Clayxels from your provided source code, as distribution is disallowed per the Standard Unity Asset Store EULA §3.5, and you are currently illegally distributing it.
Oct 3 17:27:30 48m 52s Plue ♥ 2 Couch multiplayer Pico 8 game? That's impressive! Man, there's something very pleasant about the Pico 8 color palette. The upgrades were all really cool too! Nice work! Getting a bunch of rate upgrades and a triple shot is one heck of a combo! Great game.
Oct 3 17:38:29 10m 59s Sheeple ♥ 2 I love the "Evil Escapes" screen. Really nice work on the art! PICO8 games are always a pleasant surprise.
Oct 3 18:08:11 29m 42s Triangles and more triangles and more.. ♥ 3 I like the idea, but god dang that last level was torture. _______Torture.PNG There wasn't even a "you win" screen? There was actually no payoff for completing that last stage. What a bad feeling. I like the game, and the ten second timer made it pretty tough. My strategy was to place all the pieces right next to their slots, since they don't move around if unslotted. I can then wait for the ten seconds to happen, and rush all the pieces in their slots before they shake around. Anyway, cool game, but the lack of a "you win screen" made it incredibly disappointing. I assume you didn't expect anyone to clear it and or you just wanted a fun "LD51" screen, but why would you make it playable? If that screen *IS* the victory screen, why would you let the players even try to complete it?
Oct 3 18:46:46 38m 35s Minute Monet ♥ 3 I had a lot of fun trying to draw characters with this! The key word is trying... ________Chars.png The random colors makes this a lot of fun, and you have to think on the fly about what you *can* draw with the newly chosen color. I love it! Very cool game, and a marvelous take on the theme.
Oct 3 19:02:16 15m 30s Exp10sion ♥ 9 Ooh, a multiple-timeline puzzle game is a nice take on the theme. I like the "you are a bomb" idea too! I had some inconsistent jump physics though, which made the platforming a bit frustrating at times. Especially in level 5. I would lose most of my horizontal speed when jumping occasionally, which almost always lead to death. Cool game though! I love the CRT screen effect. Nice work.
Oct 3 21:41:19 2h 39m Avery Ten 2ndth: Savior of Cleveland ♥ 1 I was narrating the story out loud to my friends, and we were laughing at every single line. Incredible work all around! The humor is top notch, the story is fantastic, and the gameplay got several chuckles. The only complaint is the font was hard to read at times. Incredible work. Edit: It's an absolute crime your game didn't score higher in Humor.
Oct 3 22:44:17 1h 02m Hidden Moves ♥ 6 To begin with, the music absolutely slaps. The dog barks and airhorns are fantastic additions. The dance moves are amazing. One of the dances had the finishing move of mooning the audience, and I swear there were jiggle physics. oh my. All of the art is fantastic for that matter. The characters are adorable, even the old man you play as. The DJ looks like the kinda guy I want to hang out with, and all the party-goers have style and personality, and it's all *so well drawn*. The inclusion of achievements is brilliant, and it adds a lot of replay value. That's the kind of stuff you don't find in many jam games, but elevates this one way above the rest. At one point I had an audience of zero (even had an achievement for it) so I didn't bother dancing. It was genuinely hilarious looking at the sad old man with colorful spotlights all around him. HA! Gameplay wise, I noticed you can just mash all 4 arrow keys to correctly get every beat successfully. You probably would want to figure out a way to prevent that. The humor and mood are amazing, and you have set up a fantastic scene! Brilliant work all around!
Oct 3 23:19:54 35m 37s Clique Hell High ♥ 6 I recorded myself playing the game for ***Maximum feedbackage***. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=boNosPiygPY Anyway, really cool game. I love the mechanic of swapping back and forth, and half the projectiles heal you, half of them hurting you, and swapping teams. It's very well made. Marvelous work.
Oct 3 23:29:17 9m 23s Trick or Defeat ♥ 2 I LOVED the jack-o-lantern in the radius shell around the towers. The whole Halloween aesthetic is fantastic! The music slaps, and the game is fairly easy. I didn't beat the miniboss though. Great game!
Oct 3 23:55:45 26m 28s Faces of the Pendulum ♥ 3 Big points for mood! The aesthetic is really cool, though the gameplay is fairly simple and I'm bad at puzzles. I recorded myself playing the game if you're interested: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RIyxL-cqWkw
Oct 4 00:00:42 4m 57s BrainFour ♥ 5 I love the idea! It's hard to navigate without some sort of map, but once you learn that Green is the middle, it becomes way clearer. I love the 3D models, and the animations are fantastic! I recorded myself playing so you can have way more feedback: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XXzqd7cc-2k
Oct 4 00:27:14 26m 32s Make Haste, Detective! ♥ 6 The concept of a whodunnit where you switch suspects every ten seconds is BRILLIANT. I'm bad at this genre, but I absolutely loved every second of it. The characters are incredibly well drawn, the voice acting is outstanding, and every single character has so much personality! I LOVE the adventurer who will not stop talking. Absolutely fantastic entry. If you want some more feedback, here's a recording of myself checking out the game: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PLBL7K9PSn0
Oct 4 00:32:30 5m 16s UMBRELLA REVENGE ♥ 6 I absolutely love the artwork! The little opening cutscene is amazing, and the sound effects, like the pitter-patter of the feet are the icing on the cake. The biggest piece of feedback (and I mention it in the accompanying video below) is **Blind Jumps**. As the developer, you know what's below you. You made the stage, so you know where to go. I have no idea what's off screen below me, I just have to jump down and find out, potentially landing on spikes and needing to reset. That's definitely something you want to avoid in the future. Anyway, here's the aforementioned video of myself playing your game if you want *even more feedback*. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C1t4-ZNMJuw
Oct 4 01:20:34 48m 04s DecaDare ♥ 5 Oh heck yes! I loved every minigame (though I struggled with the dance one. I don't know what was up with that.) The characters are adorable, the games are fun, the music is tight, and loved every second. I had a great time playing, and recorded myself so you can get even more feedback! Wonderful game! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MHPeC4TUw6k
Oct 4 01:23:32 2m 58s Stormlight Manor ♥ 2 I really loved this game. The biggest complaint is with the doors that require ghosts to pass through them though. The pathing on the ghosts can take a long time before opening the door, and it really bogs down the experience when you're just waiting. Even more-so when you die after waiting for the door to open. Ahhhh. Here's an exceptionally long video of my experience with your game if you want some more feedback: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YKqacUZLNEk Edit: I see now that I accidentally recorded the screen a bit too low, so the top of the maze is cut off in the video. my bad!
Oct 4 01:33:39 10m 07s House of Kipo ♥ 4 Oh wow, the artwork is fantastic! I seriously love the design of the main character, and all the spooky ghosts too! The head with spider legs is very unnerving. I like the added challenge of getting all the ghosts with limited film. Seriously great work all around! For more feedback, I recorded myself playing the game: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ouB3yzQABJM Edit: apologies for the poor framerate in the video. I played the game at 60FPS, don't worry!
Oct 4 01:51:12 17m 33s Foodmnesia ♥ 2 I love everything about this. The reverb on the scream when you slip on a banana peel is the funniest sound! The 3D models are impressive and fantastic, the animations, the slippery/bouncy physics of the game, ahh wow it all adds up to this hilarious cluster of haphazard mistakes and goofy fun gameplay! I recorded myself playing if you want more feedback! Great work all around. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3NQ9YrgIEbE
Oct 4 02:26:55 35m 43s Boood night ♥ 4 This game is adorable and very fun. The story and the setup is hilarious, and I had a fun time spooking a young child. ha! I recorded myself playing it so you can achieve maximum feedback: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rnSbv79MGuE
Oct 4 02:43:51 16m 56s Bear's Home Repairs ♥ 4 I love the amount of detail added to this game! The house is absolutely incredible looking! All the 3D models are for that matter. The animations are great, the hilarious gory teddy bear explosions are amazing, there's a huge loadout of weapons- All of this is fantastic! I would've liked some settings for changing mouse sensitivity though. I think the amount of windows makes the repairs irrelevant. It seems like there's too many entry points for the enemies that any slowing down that repairs would make wouldn't be worth the effort. It's been a decade since I've played Call of Duty Zombies, so this was a little nostalgic, ha! Marvelous work. Anyway, I have a video of me playing if you want some more feedback! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j1xkUuyuH8Y
Oct 4 03:00:56 17m 05s Moai Massacre ♥ 2 The 3D models are very impressive! I love the various ways you were able to make them look! I think there should definitely be more than just the target moai in a field of default moais though. Imagine looking for the 3-eye dude, while you got mustache moai and twisted funny head moai as well. Or better yet, gradually start adding the variety in later rounds to add difficulty. The reasons for why they are wanted are hilarious! "I just don't like 'em" is my favorite of the excuses. "Plays league of legends" is a good one too, ha! I had a great time playing, and recorded my experience so you can have more feedback! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3WQdHbeqRww
Oct 4 03:28:21 27m 25s Ultimate QADE Wall ♥ 3 I had a lot of fun! I don't know if the scores from the judges were entirely accurate though. Near the end of my playthrough I intentionally got hit by the wall and still scored well. The 3D models look really good, and I love the animations! The voice acting is also really good, though I don't speak the language. The goofy poses you can get your character in really make this game stand out in humor! Great work all around. Here's a recording of me playing it for extra feedback: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hujk1zV-uiM
Oct 4 03:32:30 4m 09s Seconds in Command ♥ 3 I had a lot of fun with this! The variety was outstanding, and I enjoyed every minigame. The characters and animations are also very well made, and I wish there was more! I love the idea of everything I kill having a right hand man to avenge their death. It's pretty funny, and it makes me question the relationship between a disco man, and their samurai sidekick, or a school teacher and their dinosaur in command. Absolutely hilarious! I also recorded a video of myself playing these games if you want some extra feedback. Great game! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VNTbhCEVxNs
Oct 4 03:42:56 10m 26s Spooky Glitch ♥ 8 I absolutely love the heck out of this. The minigames are all fun, and it's this rapidfire switch from one genre to the next that makes it very engaging. The artwork is incredible, and I love how the music keeps the same melody, but swaps the instruments out with each game. Very cool touch! I recorded myself playing so you can have even more feedback! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qks2RYhcKtQ
Oct 4 03:56:14 13m 18s Pandora’s Box [WebGL/Win/Touch] ♥ 3 I had a lot of fun with this! The speedrun times displayed at the end of the game is a *Very* nice touch! I collected all the butterflies too! Wonderful job on the graphics and audio, by the way. I recorded myself playing the game so you can have some more feedback: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k8WhoIwWuO0
Oct 4 14:23:13 10h 26m Cat.exe ♥ 4 I love the aesthetic! Vaporwave is some real eye candy! The animations look great, and I love the "death fizzle" shader effect! The music *slaps* and it perfectly fits the aesthetic! There's something magnificent with retro synths, and I love the heck out of it. This game has a huge amount of developers! It must've been tricky managing all of that. Outstanding work! Some of the jumps seemed really difficult, and I recorded myself playing the game so you can have even more feedback. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mxeq__HvWE8
Oct 4 14:27:09 3m 56s Delta Shift ♥ 5 This game is outstanding! The incredible amount of developers working on this absolutely shows with how polished it is. The idea of a gravity flipping parkour game is a lot of fun, and you executed it brilliantly! I love the synth-heavy music and neon aesthetic. I think the biggest drawback was whenever I smacked into a wall to climb it I was disoriented, and unsure where I'm going. You can't really see what you're climbing to, and if you're off by a little bit you might not notice you missed the tunnel you wanted to climb through. I recorded myself playing so you can have more feedback. Stellar work! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NxJP_Ic_Brw
Oct 4 14:38:32 11m 23s Cult Of the Сelestial Knight ♥ 7 Everything about this is incredible! I loved all the spooky creatures, and wow there was a lot of variety with them too. There's so many details in the artwork, and everything looks fantastic! The ambient noises set the mood perfectly, and I had a great time playing. I recorded myself playing, and I mentioned it in the recording, but there should be a button to return to the title screen from both winning and losing the game. I don't want to refresh the page, you know? Anyway, here's the recording I made so you can have more feedback! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HOxVK0srr7Q
Oct 4 14:54:56 16m 24s This Date Blows! ♥ 3 I absolutely love the idea of this game. Having to pay attention to a set of rules and hear about this lady's dead cat simultaneously makes for a hilarious and fantastic time. The occasional bomb jokes I said to my date, and my hand exploding... it's a funny game. Seriously. The artwork is amazing! The goofy design of the date, and her facial expressions are amazing. I wish there were checkpoints, because otherwise I don't think I'll be able to make it to the end of the date. The difficulty picks up a ton, and it's a hilarious fantastic cluster of on-the-fly bad-decision-making. I recorded myself playing the game for more feedback: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dC3LyPtTroI
Oct 4 15:21:57 27m 01s Call It A Day ♥ 8 This game is so adorable! It took a little while to get the hang of it, but when I figured it out I suddenly had the greatest luck in the entire world finding the ID card. I had a couple nights in a row get the card and hit the mausoleum before daybreak. What a fun feeling that was. I seriously enjoyed every moment of this game. I recorded myself playing so you can have extra feedback: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w2WlHV-lWOI
Oct 4 15:27:39 5m 42s 10 Seconds, 9 Lives ♥ 5 This is one of the most impressive PICO-8 game's I have ever seen. You really outdid yourself with the artwork! Everything is so well made, and all the minigames are easy to understand. Furthermore, the sleepy time!!! Thank you so much for the little bit of downtime! It really goes a long way. I recorded myself playing so you can get extra feedback: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Q8Q3zwbGjc
Oct 4 15:41:49 14m 10s Chromo Trigger ♥ 5 The voice acting is SO INCREDIBLY WELL DONE. The humor is absolutely brilliant too! Frickin' "Chromo Trigger". The name of your game had me laughing. That's impressive. I don't even have any complaints. The game is just well made all around. I recorded myself playing the game if you want some extra feedback: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pwqSJJowfWM
Oct 4 15:49:18 7m 29s 10 Second Mixtape ♥ 3 Hey, just a heads up, it didn't seem to run on my machine! I was recording some gameplay footage for you though in case you need to investigate what's going on. Let me know if you make add a post-submission build that fixes this! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-w7d-O49lY
Oct 4 16:04:04 14m 46s Scribble Rush ♥ 2 Ahhh man, this is good! The prompts were fantastic, and I enjoyed teh goofy on-the-fly thinking I had to do to make it match. I feel like the color palette should've had at least one shade of green though, ha! I feel like the installer was a bit unnecessary. You could've just uploaded a .zip to itch. That's my only complaint. Everything else about this game was marvelous. I recorded myself playing for extra feedback: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z_T37Vo2Syo
Oct 4 16:27:39 23m 35s Opening Knight ♥ 4 Ah wow the opening cinematic is really cool! The game starts off a bit slow, and that really bogs down the later attempts to get a high score. I absolutely LOVE the design of the main character! He's so adorable. I recorded myself playing the game if you want some more feedback: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6_anT8hReks
Oct 4 16:40:04 12m 25s Peace was never an Option ♥ 6 Oh this was a lot of fun! I wish there was on option to switch to QWERTY layout! I never got to the magical honk, but it's such an intriguing concept that it kept me going for many attempts. The artwork is fantastic, and I love the concept of a duck defending his pond with a chainsaw and shotgun! Ha! I recorded myself playing the game if you want even more feedback: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p2tyMUiUQZU
Oct 4 16:55:15 15m 11s RoadFromHell ♥ 5 The artwork is really charming! The backgrounds look great, and the characters are cute. The biggest piece of feedback I have to offer, and I mention this in the video I recorded, is **blind jumps**. You never want the player to be required to move downwards without knowing what's below them. Especially when what's below them is a hazard. Even when there aren't off-screen hazards, blind jumps are anxiety inducing. It leads to "unfair" deaths, and is all around bad game design. Other than that, the game was really great! I recorded myself playing it so you can have even more feedback: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p9BZBQ8LAZE
Oct 4 17:18:37 23m 22s Ten-Second Teleport ♥ 3 I love the opening dialogue! It gives the characters a lot of personality the a lot of other LD games don't achieve. The jump losing all your momentum feels a bit rough, but the biggest issue is **Blind Jumps**. I mention it in the video I made, but if the player doesn't know what's off-screen below them when they are required to move downwards, it's impossible to know if there's a poorly placed hazard, or anything to avoid below them. It's anxiety inducing ,and it's bad design. Everything else though was fantastic. The animations, the design of the characters and enemies, I loved it all! The puzzles were simple, and I enjoyed the variety in spells. I got stuck at one part, and you can see in the video I made if you want some extra feedback: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KIzL8wDloOw
Oct 4 17:27:20 8m 43s Helmet VS Slime ♥ 0 Wow this was difficult! I like the variety in random events, it adds a lot of fun challenge, but I think there might already be a bit too much challenge to begin with. I love the artwork. The trees are cool, and the main character is a fun design. I recorded myself playing the game if you want some more feedback: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gGXkFOd-cDQ
Oct 4 18:19:24 52m 04s Gastronauts ♥ 2 This was a surprise! As always, you're artwork is fantastic! I loved the variety in foods! I think some of them gave you too much money when sold though. I'm never gonna end up spending 500 moneys, let alone 1.2 thousand. I've been recording some playthroughs this LD, and I got a video for you to receive extra feedback from. Nice work! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vZci3UAYR34
Oct 4 18:28:10 8m 46s Fortune Knight ♥ 3 I love the idea of a boss fight that changes every ten seconds! The patterns are well made, and I love the amount of variety in both your attacks and the boss's moves! I think there should be a title screen though. I recorded myself playing the game if you want some extra feedback: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M5pq65a1kE4
Oct 4 18:53:54 25m 44s Lock Up ♥ 1 Wow! That's such a cool art style. The story is very well made, and I love the multiple perspectives. Huge points for mood and graphics! I recorded myself playing the game if you want extra feedback: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3FLV5V9RsdM
Oct 4 19:05:27 11m 33s Robo-soaker ♥ 2 I love the visuals! The character design is really well done too! I'm a big fan of the mustache. I also like the subtle diagonal lines on the hearts. It matches the guy's construction outfit. The sound effects were a bit loud, but that's my only complaint. I recorded myself playing the game if you want some extra feedback: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f_Ys62_-YeU
Oct 5 14:13:41 19h 08m When The Night Comes ♥ 3 I forgot about the smacking windows thing for a while, but once I figured it out, the game was a lot of fun! The aesthetic of a spooky orphanage was a great idea, and you really pulled it off! The levels were well designed, and I loved the variety. I recorded myself playing the game if you want some extra feedback. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=otE72QgOMEE
Oct 5 14:35:00 21m 19s The Hellchemist ♥ 4 This game is one of the best I've played this jam! I had a ton of fun with everything. The 3D Models are fantastic, the microwave guy is my favorite. The random events are great (but need some balancing, so it's not purely RNG) and I loved the variety in weapons too! Lots of fun to be had. I recorded myself playing so you can have more feedback. Really great work! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1DBWsOPNWq0
Oct 5 15:03:37 28m 37s Hocus Poquest ♥ 4 I think the theme is a bit too much in the background. I know that the quests disappear every ten seconds if unachieved, but in most cases that wasn't something I was even giving any attention. I would just make my way through the dungeon, and every now and then I would have 4 upgrades to cash in. The humor was great! I'm on the older end of gen Z, but I was able to ironically enjoy the "no cap"s and dream reference. "Back to dead" was a really good bit. also the "Luna put something really good here" sample text got a chuckle out of me. The artwork is great. I honestly love the flat bold outlined, lack of shading style. You can really feel the game's humor in the artwork, which normally a team of this size wouldn't consider. Most games with this many devs have some artist going overboard and everything looks... kinda just like all the other games with that many devs. Your game stands out in a good way, and I like it. The gun upgrades weren't always useful. I found myself getting a gun with two explosions upgrades, and I hurt myself way more than I hurt enemies. I never noticed what returning does, and there were a lot of upgrades I didn't even try out. I think having some of the quests be "trash an upgrade" is counterproductive, as it leads to not trying things. Definitely focus on more "throw your gun away" ideas to encourage the player to try something they haven't seen yet. All around, stellar work!
Oct 5 15:47:11 43m 34s RED RINK ♥ 4 I love the idea! Hockey is already one of the few sports I can find entertaining, but the addition of an exploding puck would really spice the game up a bit! ha! There is SO much outstanding artwork in this game. There are also so many details I didn't get to see! Each team has a lot of animations, and I missed half of them. I loved teh character designs, and their sticks matching! Ahhh man. Everything looked SO good. And I haven't even started on the voice acting. Marvelous! I recorded myself playing the game for even more feedback: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nuDFD5i9llg
Oct 5 16:13:04 25m 53s Echo ♥ 2 Wow this game looks fantastic! The echo effect was really well made, and the dark aesthetics are perfectly eerie. I noticed it's barely possible to see the platforms for quite a while after the ping fades, which lead to more deaths than I'd like to admit, ha! I was a bit too hasty. I recorded myself playing so you can get way more feedback than text could provide: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mHsDz6s6i1c
Oct 5 18:36:31 2h 23m HURTEC ♥ 3 I had a lot of fun with this! I like the gradual introduction of more and more buttons to mash, and I almost wish it spiraled to absurdity. imagine if by level 10 you have to mash Q W R M NUMLOCK HOME F6 TAB and ` just to have a chance to win. Ahh, that would be goofy. I recorded myself playing so you can have some extra feedback: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tq3qOoTl9ao
Oct 5 19:01:52 25m 21s Tensec World ♥ 1 Oh I love the goofy writing. Commanding an entire species of organisms that die in ten seconds for a gold idol of myself feels a bit morally corrupt, but hey, I now have a gold idol of myself. worth it. I think the music was a *bit* repetitive. I understand that's the nature of a ten second music loop though. I also started using the whistle at the end as an audio cue, since I had just barely enough time to drop things off at the depot after it started. I recorded myself playing for ***maximum feedbackage***: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lD18-uRyg9M
Oct 6 14:41:54 19h 40m Missdemanor ♥ 2 Huge shout outs for voice acting! It took me a while to figure out how to strike other people with lightning, but as soon as I got a grip on how to make it happen, I immediately fell in love with the mechanic. It's clever, and a really great take on the theme. I especially love how it's a "SUPERHOT" situation, where the time only moves when you do. The character design is fun, and I love how you have to hold on to ledges with your giant head. ha! I recoded myself playing so you can have extra feedback: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q2Rj49CVpI8
Oct 6 14:50:59 9m 05s Negative-G ♥ 1 Ah wow, I wish it was a bit longer. I love the gravity flipping on a timer, and I wish there was a few more screens to really explore the mechanic some more. The artwork is lovely, and I especially love how there are multiple background layers, so the stars don't move at the same pace as the window! I made a video, and I mention it there, but the music is a bit repetitive. I usually aim for a 3 minute loop, though this Ludum Dare I only managed a 1 minute loop. Even so, a single measure on repeat will drive anybody crazy if there's no variety. Anyway, here's the video I made: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ApAjftCUes
Oct 6 15:01:23 10m 24s The Artist ♥ 1 It took me a little bit to figure out what I was doing, but I really enjoyed it! The monsters were well balanced, and I liked the artwork! I recorded myself playing so you can have some extra feedback: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yVHaNhYYLQQ
Oct 6 15:26:49 25m 26s Happy Minesweeper ♥ 0 First thing to note: You need to generate the level after the first click. Far too often I would just drop my first man onto a mine. I understand if it's to teach the gimmick of scooping up the corpses, but it felt like I was just losing a life for no reason. I'm not very good at mine sweeper (and I recorded myself playing, so you can see first-hand) but I still enjoyed playing it to the end! Good commentary on war, fun music, and an all around well made game. Here's the video for extra feedback: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_aujoJemKW4
Oct 6 15:47:41 20m 52s That Which Catches Your Eye ♥ 1 Good lord this was *so* well made. Everything about this, from the story, the art, to the music, **everything** is a masterpiece. Huge emotions, and some nice gameplay on top of it! Seriously, If I had anything else to say, I would be repeating myself. Marvelous work, especially for a Compo. I recorded myself playing if you want any more feedback: (Though I definitely dyslexia'd the title of the game when I started recording, ha!) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wazv2ijMDrk
Oct 6 16:09:32 21m 51s 10 seconds or less ♥ 0 Wow this was fun! I love how you showed the developer times, so I was encouraged to keep playing the same level, ha! Great stuff. The wall just seemed incredibly awkward though, and I felt like it was best avoided. I was recording my gameplay, so you can hear my thoughts in realtime, but I feel like the walljump wasn't working correctly. The blob exploding sound is fantastic, and I love the level design! Great work! Here's that video I made for extra feedback: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EJKas4T2Wm8
Oct 6 16:29:32 20m 00s Chaos Pigeon ♥ 1 Big points for humor! This game ran poorly in the web build, but it was fine when downloaded. I really love the artwork for the birds, by the way, they look fantastic! There's a lot of randomness in weather you score well, based on cars causing their own accidents and fist fights. I recorded myself playing the game for even more feedback. Enjoy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3pB7nN-dmtY
Oct 6 16:49:28 19m 56s BUN-hop ♥ 1 This game is really well made! The 3D models are amazing, and the animations look fantastic! I absolutely love the slight parallax with the giant numbers in the background. Incredible. The music slaps too. I recorded myself playing this game if you want some extra feedback: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Gng7peQP_s
Oct 6 17:19:35 30m 07s Clockwork ♥ 2 Man, I found this too difficult. Even after I figured out all the strategies, I was just not able to come close to winning. The main mechanic is cool, and it's a nice take on the theme, but I either had terrible luck, or I'm missing something. It took a while to figure out that cards in my hand got upgraded every turn, and I couldn't tell if it was ever worth holding on to cards. Having a hand limit really made cards that draw x additional cards a dangerous play, as it just forces me to lose cards that I had been leveling up. I recorded myself playing, so you can get some extra feedback: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0zIhbf-Kw8k
Oct 6 17:56:18 36m 43s Timebound ♥ 4 Okay, so I recorded a video and in it I gave up on level six. I went back after I stopped recording (mostly to check if that really was the last level) and figured out the solution. Perhaps that level shouldn't look so similar to level 1? The level I got stuck on in the video was entirely because I assumed I needed to walk over to the lever to be able to push it. I think it should be explained better that that isn't the case. On further rewatching of my video, I see that lever automatically is pulled on a timer. That mechanic definitely needs better explained. I really enjoyed the game! The levels are absolutely brilliant, and I had a lot of fun. Great work. And here's that video I mentioned, for even more feedback: (sorry it doesn't feature me solving level 6 though) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K0mrI8y-XII
Oct 6 18:19:47 23m 29s In Season ♥ 3 This was adorable and I loved every bit! The 10 seconds season is a brilliant idea, and the artist made them all look lovely. I wish I could use the number keys instead of the mousewheel. I also really liked the music! I recorded myself playing for even more feedback: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OCb3PB1klfA
Oct 6 18:29:58 10m 11s Flocker ♥ 2 OH man, this was too much fun to play with, ha! That sandbox mode is dangerously fun. The bloom was a brilliant touch, and everything about this was cool. I recorded myself playing for extra feedback, though I worry a combination of video compression and youtube compression won't do the game justice. There's still the feedback to be had though: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pPciGag2OeQ
Oct 6 18:47:19 17m 21s Proxima ♥ 1 It's a really nice game with a very melancholy ending. I love the little details like the couple getting married, and the cat mashing the keyboard. I definitely didn't expect the end of the game to be the captain dying of old age. Really nice storytelling!
Oct 6 19:11:44 24m 25s Light - Switch ♥ 1 The main character is adorable, and I wish the rest of the game matches their aesthetic! I feel like games where you walk around a maze work a lot better when you can actually see the maze. Otherwise, you have no idea what the goal is, or if you are even going the right way. Especially if the walls will be shifting, as it removes landmarks from becoming something you could use to remember where you are. Now walls could just be different. I don't know. I found it to be a bit frustrating. I never found the Easter egg though. I also ran into some issues walking through the halls if there was a door near it. The player's hitbox is a bit too large in some cases. I recorded my experience with the game if you want some extra feedback: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4_3tvR2ZR7Q
Oct 8 14:14:14 43h 02m Sushi Bushi ♥ 3 The voice acting is marvelous! I love the idea of one guy waiting for food to arrive, watching this lunatic eat everything and throw plates around before it gets to him. Hilarious stuff. I wish the gameplay consisted a bit more than mashing buttons though. Like, if the sushi had some other incredibly short minigames (that simulated eating somehow), that would be cool. I recorded myself playing for even more feedback: (Though the video is poorly cropped, my bad!) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8qGF5-lTWQM
Oct 8 14:27:41 13m 27s Psycho Petting ♥ 3 OH man this was fantastic. I love the juxtaposition between the very cute cuddly bunny environment, and the spider infested alternative. The 3D Models are amazing, and the animations are fantastic. All around, this game is really well done in all aspects. I recorded myself playing so I could provide even more feedback: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-vrEJpjzbzY
Oct 8 14:39:22 11m 41s Cat That Steals Stuff and Gets in Trouble ♥ 3 OH wow this is cute. First off, I appreciate the option to disable to post processing! CA isn't my cup of tea. Additionally, I love the cat sneezing on the title screen. ha! I think I liked the sneeze section better than the prison break. Both of them have their charms though! I recorded myself playing for extra feedback: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8VzqAvEXgU0
Oct 8 15:02:14 22m 52s Curse Mountain ♥ 1 The artwork is fantastic! I really enjoyed the design of both characters. I think the game was a bit too hard though. Consider adding checkpoints. I also mention it in the video, but this game is filled to the brim with **Blind Jumps**. There are lots of situations where the player has to move downwards with no indication of what's below. It could be a hazard, it could just be dirt, but the player isn't sure what the yare going to be landing on, or if there's some fireball spitting idol down there. Speaking of the video, I recorded this to provide you a lot more feedback: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9DfP4FQP_PI
Oct 8 15:25:41 23m 27s KILLING TIME: The Dimensional RPG ♥ 2 Okay, so I recorded a video but something went wrong with the video settings? The game didn't go full screen, but it was the exact same size as my screen. Since Windows has the little details at the top, the bottom got cut off, which might have something to do with my video goofing up. I dunno. All around, this was fantastic! I **LOVE** how enemies messed with my menu! That's such a creative idea, and you pulled it off so incredibly well. The backgrounds remind me of earthbound, and they look amazing. The character designs are fantastic too. I beat the final boss! Ah man, again, sorry about the video not working. I feel like I have so much more to say, but I can't figure out what to write down. This is definitely one of the best games I've played this jam. Ah- the enemy attacks were *so creative*. Wonderful job all around!
Oct 8 15:35:12 9m 31s Tempus ♥ 1 I really loved the design of the town! The character design was fun, and I liked every level. There *was* a single **blind jump** where I walked off a short cliff without being able to see what was below me and landed on a fence, dying, but there was a checkpoint right there, so I guess it's fine. I like the enemy at the end of the game. The designs for all the creatures are really cool! Great work.
Oct 16 17:19:38 193h 44m No Man's Land ♥ 2 Ah wow I came pretty close to getting first place _____close.PNG All around, this was a lot of fun! I loved the variety in enemy patterns!
Oct 18 18:28:05 49h 08m Clocktower ♥ 1 Oh wow, this one is has it's own style entirely, and I love it. I think the momentum while in air was a bit weird, especially when trying to slow down to land on a platform. Some checkpoints would also be really cool. I could easily see this continue as a larger project, perhaps a section with 3 different palettes instead. I loved the clever way of hiding platforms in plain sight, and the opening "Right place, wrong time" reveal was a brilliant way to showcase that. I almost wish there was some 60 BPM music (with the ticking as part of the beat) to go along with the gameplay. The ticking all on its own can be a bit annoying. Imagine the ticking gets louder and louder the closer you are to that ten second mark, and then BLAM! the colors shift. All around, wonderful job! I really liked this one.
Oct 18 18:32:09 4m 04s Flameout ♥ 1 I enjoyed it. I had some issues with enemies spawning on top of my guy a bunch though. I think the music was nice, and it set the chaotic mood. Nice work.
Oct 18 18:44:27 12m 18s It's all in a day ♥ 1 Wow this was tough! It took a few tries, but I made it to rent with exactly a thousand dollars, on the brink of starvation. I liked the music, but I wish there were some sound effects. Like a little munch when you eat salad, or a snore when you sleep. All around, nicely done.
Oct 18 18:53:59 9m 32s Unstable ♥ 0 Okay first of all, **you should absolutely display the final time on the game over screen**. I survived for like, six minutes, but I couldn't take a screenshot of the final time! I liked the voxel art, and all the different scenes looked really great! nicely done.
