Nice idea, enjoyed playing the game. Had to realy concentrate at some moments XD The graphics realy nice, I like your art style. And ofc the music is masterpiece)

I love the art style, and it really was a nice idea. The dialogue in the front was a bit too long, though (although I am very impatient lol),

This is an impressively finished compo entry, the story and graphics were both nice and the audio was so good! I did end up clicking all the objects each time as I kept missing the changes, I think I'd have preferred if I didn't need to move the camera around and I could see all the objects in the one screen. Apart from that though, really great entry, good job!

loved the funky song and the lil amongus :)

Wow! I didn't expect I'd love a hidden object game this much. I loved the visual novely-story, the art style is great, finding the objects was nice too and the music was just incredible -- truly.

I really really enjoyed this, great job!

I was flexing the same muscles I used when I played "I'm on observation duty". Great visuals and production!

Love the music.

Was really curious to see how the 10 second theme would be implemented in a hidden object game, and tbh it works way better than i was expecting. Object moving/changing color/sparkling every 10 seconds is just a neat mechanic.

Also the one music track rules! Good stuff.

Five stars in audio for that awesome track. In a world of 8 bit tunes, this really stands out.

If I could make one simple tweak: Level order should be changed to Movement Sparkle Color Change Just based on what is easiest to see.

The music and graphics in this are great! It really took me a while sometimes to find all the objects. Having to move the camera around is a nice touch!

I played all the way through and I honestly forgot I was playing a jam game. I'll echo others in calling the music a masterpiece that really put me into a flow state. When I got to the second "search" section I was a little disappointed at first that it was in the same location (because I'm ridiculous and greedy like that), but that quickly went away when I saw that you were having things "catch my eye" in a different way than before. So cool and creative.

The story was neat and something different from the usual things you see in games. I will say that from a narrative standpoint I felt like I was a bit thrown in and didn't necessarily connect with the characters until closer to the end, but that's a lot to ask from something made in this kind of time. And there was maybe a little less story and gameplay integration than I'd hope for - at first. By the end, it made a little more sense.

All in all, this was such a unique and cool piece of art. Thank you for showing me something new.

Good lord this was *so* well made. Everything about this, from the story, the art, to the music, **everything** is a masterpiece. Huge emotions, and some nice gameplay on top of it!

Seriously, If I had anything else to say, I would be repeating myself. Marvelous work, especially for a Compo.

I recorded myself playing if you want any more feedback: (Though I definitely dyslexia'd the title of the game when I started recording, ha!)

@100th-coin thank you for recording the game and narrating the dialog! It was VERY cool to see an unmediated playthrough. Seeing which objects you noticed and which ones you guessed was extremely interesting. And it was also awesome to see that you noticed the track layering (how the vocals only happen during the gameplay). That was very observant of you! I'm sure Jo Anne would be proud lmao.

Maybe next Ludum Dare I can make The Witch Catches Your Eye, but for now I'm super glad you enjoyed the game.

Here's the not-instrumental version of the song, if anyone's curious: https://decadedecaf.bandcamp.com/track/that-which-catches-your-ear

and @ everyone else, thank you for all the wonderful comments and feedback!!

What a unique concept and storyline- I really like it! The music is great and a real jam, and I like the visual style a lot. It's cool how the gameplay segments are broken up by story, which ties together with those sections. My only small nitpick is how hard it could be to find the last little object sometimes, but I may just need to be more observant! Very nice work!

luka-roli 2022-10-10 14:48

I didn't quite understand the story at first. They were supposed to talk to dad about the hair, but then we forward a week later where Jo Anne shows up and I was like: who's this supposed to be? However you still manage to tie it all together by the end and convey a nice message. Looking for stuff is fun but tbh a few times I was just randomly clicking on stuff since I didn't want to wait. I clicked the restart button by accident once which was annoying. I love the artstyle and the music is great.

khaotom 2022-10-13 12:41

Interesting story. I like the art style as well. Also accidentally restarted thinking the button would repeat the current segment. I was a little disappointed when I found that each hidden object section was the same scene, but it's a short timeframe for dev so I get it. Glad you were able to differentiate them by having a different type of signal for the objects in each section. Music is great, love the vocals and the chop at just the right times.
