LD43 — Sacrifices must be made

Saving Oskar by markusfisch 2018-12-03T22:11:26Z

Wow this game looks really nice, I love the art style, its a shame there's no sound. The mechanics are fun, at first I though the game was too hard, but I found a good strategy of luring the other guys out and doing drive-by slicing. Maybe a timer would work good, so that you would be more urgent about killing the other sheep. It's charming, enjoyable and has lots of potential.

The Forgotten Four by Finn Truman 2018-12-04T22:24:55Z

The intro cut off before I could read the last sentence D: The game looks a bit weard with everything on top being a shade of brown, you could have made the characters stand out a bit with some brightness tweaking or small coloration. I can't really tell what the abilities do just form looking at them. Instead of coloring them based on the character, you could base the color on ability types (red for damage, green for health...). Also I have never played Darkest Dungeon so I had no idea what some statuses meant.

The Forgotten Four by Finn Truman 2018-12-04T22:37:34Z

@finn-truman I didn't notice the txt file, that's a nice way around it. Good job on the game anyway, you managed to do a lot in this short time.

Joe Shootero by StefanRial 2018-12-04T15:18:40Z

The sound effects are a bit weird and I'm missing some scoring system. Also a way to know how damaged you are. Good job on the physics. With some incentive to shoot the slimes and a bit of polish it would be a fun game.

Sacriflag by yopox 2018-12-04T15:10:06Z

Cool game with nice music and art. The main guy was a bit weird looking and didn't understand how he fits into the setting. Otherwise a cool idea with the sacrifices.

Fast Fast Fire by Tay 2018-12-03T23:29:58Z

I really like how this game looks and sound, really has a retro feel. Props for that. I feel the water cooldown should be faster, I didn't like missing so many flames, but I guess this is where the sacrifice part comes in. Maybe I was playing it wrong, because I could not fill the blue bar up like it's shown in one of the screenshots.

*edit* Now I get it, you have to avoid the obstacles on the road. It would make sense if they were white or somehow different form the road. Maybe add a short sound for every time you hit one. Otherwise great game!

Path of (dis)abilities by yuriaicruz 2018-12-03T22:36:56Z

Yeah this is pretty confusing. It's not clear what cards are good to use on what traps, so I was just clicking through them and seeing what would work, it was more guessing than anything. It would probably work better with some mechanic tweaks and a better explanation.

Timbo by Kusaihana 2018-12-03T22:58:40Z

Nice way to fit the theme of the game :) I like the music, sounds and the way the letters break into smaller letters when you touch them. I think a good way of making the game a bit more challenging would be to have the running speed increase by time, or maybe for every letter collected.

Sacrifices For Valhalla by Linkouille 2018-12-04T23:04:17Z

The cutscenes are long, wish I could skip them. Is there a reason to kill enemies? I made it through the game as a pacifist :D I got stuck between some trees, but I didn't mind it because they look really nice, along with the character.

Jim's Limb's by JoblessOrc 2018-12-04T15:25:44Z

The idea is good but the execution is a bit weird. It seems to be pretty buggy, it's good visualy, but I don't like how the tentacle sprite is turning, since it's barely visible at some points.

PeonCraft - Sacrificed by Kornel Meszaros 2018-12-04T22:55:39Z

Well the music and art are great, it really sets the tone for an epic battlefield, the big guys are awesome. I was really excited to play, but dissapointed when I found out there's really not much to do, you just run to the designated spots, die and do it again. Is there any gameplay use for the complain and confirm commands?

The Noble Asparagas by anderskristo 2018-12-03T23:11:49Z

I like the neon art and the background music, but the jump quack and death sound don't really fit with the rest. I think it would be cool to see the sign in the comic, that way I would care more about running to it.

Deadly Sales by BananaMellow 2018-12-03T21:48:43Z

There are loooots of spelling mistakes and some of the graphics look kinda rushed. The music is good and fits the game nicely and I like the switch/xbox piles at the side, the rage mechanic was also cool. I feel like the guy who shoots at you is too strong and his bullets can go through walls, but maybe that's intentional. The faces are fun to look at, altogether a fun experience.

The Laser Sacrificer by WhoMakeWorse 2018-12-04T22:37:48Z

The concept is pretty cool, but it has poor implementation. I guess it's supposed to be a puzzle game, but there are no real puzzles, you just have to walk the same path over and over, which becomes kind of a chore.

LD51 — Every 10 seconds

Attuned by Erkberg 2022-10-03T15:14:24Z

Very interesting game, love how the music progresses through the game. Also, some of the untuned notes still sound pretty good ;D

Cursed world of Hex by denvil 2022-10-06T13:44:37Z

Cool stuff, the 2d visual of the character is great and the spawning tiles too, my only issue is that you have too many different visual styles. Some pixel art with lighting, some voxels, a wavy font and then huge solid pixel art for the rule border and the hourglass. And you probably know it already but you can escape the map to the right.

The Ten Second Games by Chao 2022-10-06T14:11:32Z

Some words that come to mind are quaint, rural and homey. Love that you added a backstory to everyone! And how serious everyone takes this (like being a good keeper means you can have a better life xd)

The sounds of counting are kind of distracting, but maybe that was the aim. I took a few tries to beat Casey but didn't bother with the last one.

Ravenous by dusho 2022-10-11T18:57:38Z

Interesting idea. My embedded game was a bit cropped but it was not too bad. I think it would be fun to make the animals actually hurt you, so you'd have to avoid them. Then speed them up every let's say 5 meat deliveries, making the game more and more challenging as time passes. Good job.

Last 5 Minutes by Wizcas 2022-10-03T14:50:11Z

Cute game, love the visuals and the music loop. Shame its not fullscreen.

I was able to finish my game without ever interacting with the cat lol! 2:23 ahead of the deadline! So that would need a fix. There's also some issues with feeding the cat... I have the bowl and the hunger bar is low but all my cat wants is pats.

Nighttime by greymouth 2022-10-03T15:06:06Z

Cool concept, too bad it wasn't fleshed out more. A few sounds would really help. Also don't see how you used the theme

We Stole Aliens by grizeldi 2022-10-05T11:44:12Z

Cool concept, fun to play albeit a bit rage-inducing (too many trees!! :D), snappy driving and nice looking graphics. Maybe you could have added a ding for when the mods become available.

Death stare by Bentekiller 2022-10-12T19:36:58Z

Interesting game. I like its visuals but the sounds were kind of annoying and not well balanced. It was starting to get a bit boring so I'm glad you added another challenge in the form of arrows. Took me just a bit to figure out how to start, but it all made sense after. As others said, movement would be better with arrows/wasd.

Pulsar Cycle by Izzet 2022-10-11T18:39:24Z

Too bad you don't have anything else to do. At least what is there works :D runs well too

Occurrence by Luka Roli 2022-10-03T15:25:08Z

@daandruff @gamejmunk I added a description on how to get to the end since it is very vague. Thanks for the feedback.

Occurrence by Luka Roli 2022-10-03T16:05:05Z

@wizcas the idea was: the planet south of you is 1. If there is none south, then continue clockwise till you reach the first one. That will then be 1. Then continue clockwise to reach 2 and 3. I know it doesn't really make sense but hey, I didn't really have time to upgrade it.

Occurrence by Luka Roli 2022-10-03T17:18:58Z

@mvasko2 Thank you for the comment, I added the steps to the description. Hopefully you'll understand now

Occurrence by Luka Roli 2022-10-06T13:10:12Z

@kuggenhoffen yep the game locks up, thanks for letting me know. I fixed it now

Occurrence by Luka Roli 2022-10-07T18:22:46Z

@quinn-patrick Thank you for the nice words, my aim was to make a game which wouldn't use the mouse.

Occurrence by Luka Roli 2022-10-16T23:38:47Z

@madeofst @chao @other-thinking thanks for the kind words! Definitely didn't expect people to have so many nice things to say!

That Which Catches Your Eye by DecadeDecaf 2022-10-10T14:48:41Z

I didn't quite understand the story at first. They were supposed to talk to dad about the hair, but then we forward a week later where Jo Anne shows up and I was like: who's this supposed to be? However you still manage to tie it all together by the end and convey a nice message. Looking for stuff is fun but tbh a few times I was just randomly clicking on stuff since I didn't want to wait. I clicked the restart button by accident once which was annoying. I love the artstyle and the music is great.

Countdown Cowboy by waffleworksgames 2022-10-06T13:35:31Z

Great stuff. The whole thing is well-packaged and polished. Love everything from the sound effects and soundtrack to the snappy controls and the whole visual presentation.

CHASING HORIZON by pietmichal 2022-10-07T18:37:41Z

Played the post-compo release. Probably should have gone with a traditional control scheme, but I do like the movement without any after-speed (whatever that's called). Managed to escape the horizon by destroying a few ships then speeding to one side while shooting bullets. The cops are acting a bit weird, 10 of them move very slowly then 1 just lunges at you and kills you. Saying all that, congrats for making all this in such a short time.

Coupled Explorers by Noam Zeise 2022-10-12T19:56:19Z

Very good, concise project. I'm impressed by all that you've been able to do in 2 days. The platforming challenges work well and it was fun giving a bit of thought to strategy. Too bad the controls were like 90% responsive, causing me to fail a few times. Managed to make it to the end, it was not that difficult. Music and visuals work well. I like the layered background.

Stalwart Planet Guard by rjmarzec 2022-10-10T14:27:52Z

Sometimes the game puts you in a position where you can't escape a cat since you can't jump anywhere so maybe an in-orbit jump could solve that problem. Wish I could shoot mid-air. Good job otherwise!

Connie by Payaosito 2022-10-06T13:27:58Z

Cool to play, but yeah, complicated to remember the damage combinations (even though it's cyclical). Played with a controller and the button scheme works well. Also, if you stand at the edges the ball can't hit you. Not that janky at all. Sounds and looks great.

Michael Finnegan Begins Again by madeofst 2022-10-10T14:08:49Z

Flippin did it. Great concept, my favorite game so far from this event and I've played a bunch already. Simple to understand, the music works, it's just enough of a challenge. I got stuck once but since the 10s reset it's not really a problem. Also for some reason, I had issues clicking the last door. Got it on the third try. Otherwise, great stuff.

Chinese restaurant kitchen by LinkTail 2022-10-03T15:20:44Z

Not that fun to play. Wish you would have simplified everything. "Want spices? Click on spices. Want to put broccoli in the pan? Click on broccoli then click on pan." Something in this way.
