I like the part where the UFO wakes up and flies off with you still attached.

Untitled1.png

Or maybe that was just me falling through the map heh.

Somehow the cops still caught me.

n-feofentov 2022-10-04 06:46

Pretty cool visuals! I love the mood. The beggining is a bit harsh though as you most certainly will stumble next to 90-degree turn at start. Would be nice to have a straight lane for a hundred of meteres to get used to physics.

pete-thorne 2022-10-04 07:00

Hey! Fellow Godot user! You haven't uploaded a version for Mac users :(

I would love to play but I don't have access to Windows/Linux hardware

senso 2022-10-04 07:09

We stole alians… briljant title ! When i saw This title i had to play it .

Do agree with @n-feofentov about the straight lane. Good entery Guys~

aryaman 2022-10-04 08:08

Great game... I love the storyline...

achiliuus 2022-10-04 08:42

Very interesting concept, Good Job ! Love the mood completely immersive !

2022-10-04 17:23

Short answer? 10/10! Long answer? The lore is very in-depth, the story is filled with drama, horror and funny moments. The gameplay is interactive and quick to learn, the world is immersive. The characters all have their purpose. And the graphics are STUNNING absolutely gorgeous effects! Great game to play with the family. It's even been added to family game night on Friday nights where we all try to beat each other's top scores :) Can't wait for some DLC, maybe a winter map? Or better yet a Sequel in the future! Best Wishes Kashi

selkieharbour 2022-10-04 18:49

The concept is hilarious! Love the windshield effect and the graphics are great. The main issue is that I found the police car is too hard to escape from, sometimes it even appeared in front of me and I had no idea why. I really enjoyed driving and escaping from the police but I wished I could last longer on the road, fulfilling my dream of having a UFO decorating the top of my chimney, but my longest distance has been only 568m, not a very good driver..

krynxx 2022-10-04 21:44

Cool game. Maybe some background music while getting chased would add to the atmosphere.

kostas-nik 2022-10-04 22:42

I liked the art style and the starting cinematic angle. i think its too hard and you dont really see where you're going, an extra outside camera would be a good fit also

madhumster 2022-10-04 22:51

UI and assets looks amazing and very polished for a jam. Loved the look of the cabin and UI on the dashboard. Great job!

drafy 2022-10-04 23:10

couldnt really understood the game , evrytime i would start the cops would just get me within the next 5 seconds spawning in front of me

d-j-o-v-i-c 2022-10-05 08:10

Driving makes the gameplay really cool ! Graphics are so nice too :) Great job !

luka-roli 2022-10-05 11:44

Cool concept, fun to play albeit a bit rage-inducing (too many trees!! :D), snappy driving and nice looking graphics. Maybe you could have added a ding for when the mods become available.

zakroutil 2022-10-05 12:18

This is quite impressive game! The graphics are great and the use of the theme is quite clever! Overall really fun game, great work!

pickydogfish 2022-10-05 15:54

@luka-roli that's a great idea! I wonder how no one on the team thought of that haha

frogravity 2022-10-05 16:08

Nice game! The title and premise are genius. I also really liked the graphics, especially the visual effects! The game was really confusing to me though - I tried it dozens of times and only managed to reach 145m :( I just could never find the road and kept bumping into trees. Maybe a map would help? Other than that, good entry!

decipator 2022-10-05 16:09

The name was catchy, but I had a hard time to play the game, first thing that happened was me losing without really knowing why. It was not clear I had to quickly take over the wheels.

And I dont really understand why you chose to use and unstable engine to be honest, where there features that only existed on that version of Godot? That probably took part of the fun out cause it was slow to load in order to be enjoyable to see the initial cutscene...

Also the link with the theme was not very clear to me at least...

tommo120 2022-10-05 16:15

Love how you worked with the theme here, really awesome idea! After 5-6 tries I managed to get 2249 meters :D Really great work! If I was to suggest one feature, it would be a handbrake. Feel like some of the sharp corners would really benefit from it, and it'd feel badass doing slides too

grizeldi 2022-10-05 18:12

@decipator we wanted to test the current state of godot 4 in a game jam and apart from some editor freezes, and random engine bugs (we spent 2 days trying to get trees and rocks to spawn in a way that doesn't kill the GPU) it was rather stable. If you're referring to the slight game freezes that happen when going from the main menu to the intro cinematic and from the intro cinematic to the game, that's because we sadly didn't have the time to implement background loading, so the scenes load from disk on the main thread. We had a quick look into background loading, but decided against bothering with it, as other things needed doing more urgently.

wfmg 2022-10-06 01:55

This is very cool and has a few things in common with my game, but there are a few things that unfortunately make a big negative impact on the game. The menus almost look professional, but they don't scale with your screen resolution. The graphics look realistic for the most part, but the game places high demands on the computer. The concept of driving away from the cops (no doubt one of my officers) where visibility and speed are factors is a great one, but it's difficult to tell when each feature is recharged and you can barely tell a difference when you use the light feature. There ought to be some sort of overlay (with consistent style) that tells you that they are recharged. An example of a game that does this (with nitro) is MotorStorm: Arctic Edge. The cop cars are cool, but they are nothing more than a sign that you have failed. If you see them, you have lost. The object of the game is staying on the road. I think the vision is too obscured, to where it feels almost out of your hands whether you win or lose, but this only marginally. When you do lose, it's anticlimactic. Just a simple game over menu. Even just pasting it over the gameplay with a transparent background would've made it better, or you could've made some sort of sequence/image to represent your apprehension. Like a newspaper talking about your arrest. If only there were some hope for the player character, there would be more of a reason to continue playing. A hope of something new happening, maybe of getting away, or anything like that. Here, it's more like the old theme of "Delaying the Inevitable".

I think that so long as you focus on game development over excuses, something not everyone can do, you're a promising team of developers. This game definitely has potential as more than an LD game, because it doesn't do well as one. It needs these crucial details sorted out, your engine difficulties the same, and you could have something worth buying.

wazce 2022-10-06 03:04

Pretty happy with my 1400 meters travelled. Menu is very clean and the driving feels surprisingly good. I wish the "bright" lights feature was better and I could better tell how close the cops are to catching me. Quite fun, one of the better submissions. Even had a cinematic!

sayurinyooko 2022-10-06 11:16

3D art, sound and the concept are wonderful! It's pity that sometimes I lose because of misted up window and poor view. Anyway, it's fun and good!

rtdmfn 2022-10-07 02:48

Very interesting game! I really liked the effects of wiping the windshields and such and the visuals were very nice to look at. I will say though, the game was very easy and as such, I found at many times I was running into the edge where I could see the new terrain being generated.

Regardless, game was very fun! Great job friend :)

douwe-ravers 2022-10-07 20:36

Very fun context and very original take on the theme. Loved the starting cutscene

The car steering felt really good. A couple of LDs ago I also used a car in Godot and I didn't manage to get it feel nice to drive. But you did. Very nice.

The only thing that felt off was to know when you will get caught. I had no idea when the police was close or not. Or even where they were. Maybe a little indicator that points to were the police is an how much meters they are away would have solved that issue. (Just an idea though).

xsangyhix 2022-10-08 21:40

I think that the game was polished in many ways but lacking in others. UI looked amazing, you've build a whole driving controller. There were some struggles with the gameplay because I could not see where I am going. If you put a mechanic in, make sure it is a fair one. Overall, nice submission - keep it up.

tuile 2022-10-11 14:33

Unfortunate that I couldn't play this for long, but this looked like one of the most solid entries I've seen this time around. Everything on point. The only thing - which is what threw me off really - is that the specs required to play were quite high. It stuttered a bit, and I was sad I couldn't play it properly, haha!

I also agree with what Douwe-ravers said about potentially indicating to the player when they're close to getting caught. Maybe change in music or lighting, if you don't want to give away exact distance.

Awesome entry, great job guys!

1535 is my record! I love this concept. Hope you do a post-jam update, I'll totally give it another go.
