Loved the theme and the music, really innovative. 4.5/5
Such a nice art style and very interesting gameplay, really intriguing, loved it!
Really liked it, always love spooky vibes
The game would really be improved by having a map! I love the riddles, but since I'm unfamiliar with the layout of the level I had a hard time finding the objectives. Cool game, and I love the atmosphere!
Nice entry, good mood. I like the main character and the horror atmosphere. Congratulations!
Thanks for the feedback!
Nice idea, was interesting to play! In game font is kind of hard to read.
good game! graphics and music are great!
cool progect, theme of jam full coverage
Very good ambience! The music is dope
@uik thanks for the feedback!!! Is every text hard to read? If not tell me which please. Also, is the problem about the color?
Wonderful and unique! The designs and the music also give such an amazing atmosphere< 3
Thank you all for the feedback! We really appreciate your comments! <3
Great presentation, though it took a few retrys to figure out exactly what I had to do. Didn't realize initially the clues had to be done in order. I loved the sound and music elements (real critical for spookey games!) but after a point they stopped, it would have been nice if they kept going. I'll second the map comment, learning the layout of the house is tricky with it getting darker and darker.
Overall this was a fun play.
I liked the spookiness of it! First I was confused and walked randomly till I got what should I do.
For me the text in the riddle book (when u press I?) was kind of gard to read, the color is fine but the font is a bit messy
I really liked the game. I had to learn the map and know where the rooms are to complete it, and that was really cool. I also liked the spooky shadows that appeared when I walked by them and all the puppets, specially the creeper. Great game!
Thanks for the feedback and the nice comments! <3
I really like the atmosphere you created! I really liked the design of those "shadows" that were around the map. It would be interesting to know a little more about their narrative <3
Cool game! I like the alliterative name too, rolls of the tongue nicely. nice job!
Looks like a great game! Do you have an itch.io upload?
A very decent entry! The mood is top notch and very well done! So is the artstyle. I love Over the Garden Wall and this game heavily reminded me of it. Though some of the art, like the side angle, can look a bit weird from time to time...
@bananaguybob yes we do, check it out!!
@bananaguybob https://agushmar.itch.io/peter-and-the-pensky it is in software tho
Really solid entry!
Pros: Really liked how the lighting was affected in real-time by how low the candle was. Seeing the spirits only when I was a certain distance away from them was really cool, it was like they were juuuust being seen in my peripheral. Really strong mood with this one, was creepy and haunty-feeling.
Cons: Was frustrating in several ways. The rooms felt too big and I had some serious trouble finding enough fuel to last me long enough to fully explore the house. The riddles were good, but without knowing where each room that the riddle corresponded to they weren't very useful. A minimap would have been super helpful here!
Overall well done!
I really liked the premise and mood of the game! I especially enjoyed the eyes that appeared in windows, as well as how the candle light actually dimmed over time! I was somewhat confused with how to progress through the game, but I like it!
@ss9 THANK YOU. Thanks for noticing man, its honest work
thank you all for the feedback, we looked into some bugs and fixed the resolution incompatibility on some monitors
Good job, but u have a problem with sprite's layer order. Also i think if u make pause when player open riddle list that game must be better
The sound design is great, gets you in the right mood for this game. I also enjoyed solving the riddles. Good job everyone on the team! Improvements that I can think of has already been said.
I love the shadowy figures that appear only on the edges of your vision. The fact that the bar representing your candle also visually appears as a candle is a nice touch. Like others have said, it's not initially clear that you need to complete the riddles in order; I only got that by reading other comments. The map is large and requires multiple attempts to get a feel for, especially since the candle becomes unusably dark long before it officially runs out, so you really only get a feel for where you are for about 2 thirds of the time. For those reasons I found it a bit frustrating to play. The ambience is really good, though!
I'm seeing a lot of unusually large teams this year, all from from Image Campus. I guess you guys are doing Ludum Dare as part of an assignment or something?
I liked the mood of this game. When the light of the candle begins to dim as it burns down, it generates a very well achieved anguish. Good work!
The mood and the audio were really well done. I found the gameplay kind of at odds with the candle mechanic. As others have said, it made it very hard to see what was going on. Additionally, the level design made it kind of unclear what was what in general. I think fixing either of these would make it much easier to traverse the world.
thank you! <3 @chingle @izhvaryag @hechi @nardandas @3lstmsinatrenchcoat Thank you! lots of us are student from Image Campus and they're giving us some extra ''points'' in our university by participating in Ludum Dare. Also we're receiving more points if we include students from other careers of Image Campus. That's why there may be groups of lots of people
I like the game and want to keep playing to try and beat it but I feel like I'm doing something wrong. The first couple runs I didn't see a single refill candle, then I had one run where the whole map was filled with refill candles (This is where I was able to figure out the puppets are the little toys and not the ghosts that kept running away from my light - might be helpful to have a little "puppet" notation with an arrow pointing to the little toy under the ghost in your visual guide that displays before playing, I was thinking you had to get the ghosts by giving them a toy initially from that image). After the candle filled run I did a few more with no candles showing up again, and this last one I didn't see any until I got to the library but it was just too far for my starting candle to make it so I died in the darkness. Are the spawns random? Do they need to be triggered by going into other rooms first? Otherwise really cool idea- exploring the map was fun and once you see all the rooms deciphering the riddles was pretty satisfying. I do wish some of the walls had been split into top/bottom sections to alleviate the layering issue with the player and the candle has a noticeable white outline that doesn't look like it was intentional but overall I think you did a really great job.
Nice atmosphere, really spooky :D The candle as a timer is clever, just a bit strange for me to see it in horizontal but it works well. Congrats !
Nice and spooky I love it. Great Submission here. Keep it up!
Great ambience, art, sound, but I think the list of dolls to find was too long. It took me a few tries to even get the first few.
Also when I tried to go fullscreen I got an error. Something about "Unity fullscreen error"
Oh man! This game was pretty scary hahaha, the tension of the candle decreasing and the sound gave me goosebumps, congratulations.
Great atmosphere with spooky sounds! Nice to have that title theme on the menu too. Good use of the light both for mood and the game mechanic 👻 The riddles were pretty good, with the limited time it would've been incredibly difficult to get all the puppets if they were any harder to figure out 😅 In the end after many playthroughs I was unable to beat the whole game, but I had just one room remaining on my last try! Since the puppets are the same every time and each replay gets easier after learning where they are, I think maybe it would've been better if the extra candles were in the same spots every time too; the randomness made it a bit frustrating since your success hinged so much on it. I discovered you walk twice as fast sideways so I ended up "cheating" by zigzagging around but I'm not sure how far I would've gotten without it 😁 Overall very cool concept and fairly good game, just needs a bit of polish!
