Dec 19 10:19:00 Alone - Save your family from an Icy imprisonment Very nice sprites and graphics!

There were quite a few bugs left (that I could see immediately: problems with collision of shots with enemies, of the player with spikes, commands screen taking to the game).

But for a game done in half the LD time (!!) I think it was quite well done.
Dec 19 10:38:00 19m 00s By Your Side Great Game! The puzzles had a decent amount of difficulty in them -- It was fun to beat it! On the twist scene, I was all like ¨I wonder If I could do this... lol, I can!¨. Maybe I´m evil :-P

I liked the idea of the music playing as you played, but I didn´t like the exact sounds themselves.
Dec 19 23:10:00 12h 32m My.Masterpiece Hey Matt, thanks for the game. I liked the controls, their response, and the transitions between map rooms. I hope next time you have more time to complete what you were aiming for!

Some pointers:
1- Put your files in a folder in your zip! It is a little thing, but it is annoying if I have to create a folder so that your files wont spill in the directory.

2- The collision box for the character is a bit too big. Sometimes it was really hard to get him to take a turn in a T-junction.
Dec 19 23:30:00 20m 00s Lonebot Very nice, I really liked the game, specially the sounds! This is one I know I will be playing more. :-)

One bug I have found - right in the beginning of the game, when you find your first snail, there is a wall you can go through. But if you go through that wall, you die.

Also, bats going through walls is kinda annoying, because you cant shoot them there! Since it seems that the bat AI tries to stay just above your head, this often happens in narrow corridors.

Great game, thanks!
Dec 19 23:50:00 20m 00s A.L.O.N.E. Nice for a first entry, I was a bit disappointed that the small spaceship in the opening screen was not in the game itself :-P
Dec 20 00:02:00 12m 00s Lonely Thought Nice idea, shooting the words as they come to you. I also liked the spotlight showing up as game progressed.

But I tried and tried to shoot the "Stage X" word, and nothing happened :-( You should do something about that!

Also, the speed of the message when you complete a level is a bit too slow, you should either speed it up, or allow the player to display the message all at once with a key.
Dec 20 00:34:00 32m 00s Void Very nice!

I loved the graphics. The controls and the general idea/atmosphere of the game were very well done too!

It took me a few times to realize that when I touched the sign, I would be taken to the next level... at first I tought that I was dying! ("WTF is that sign killing me?")

Thanks for the game!
Dec 20 00:54:00 20m 00s Sleepwalker Nice game! I literally lolled at some of the dialogue :-D

It was a bit too linear, it would be nice if there was more than "One Right Thing" to do at each step, but I liked it.
Dec 20 01:21:00 27m 00s A Tale of Seven Kittens Damn those kittens! Where are they! Where are they!

Heh, I liked your game, but I completely suck at it. I only found 2 kittens :-( I liked that you only had seven slots, so, If I got it right, near the end you wont be able to use any items! Was that a conscious decision? I didnt see it mentioned in your blog posts.

On the other hand, not having ANY means for navigating the maze (map, compass, etc) made the game quite frustrating. Also, for some reason I couldn't pick up the better armor/weapons that appeared in the game. I would walk and walk over them with open inventory slots and nothing would happen :-(

Oh, enemies should be knocked back when you hit them. Or at least freeze for half a second.

Thanks for the game!
Dec 20 01:29:00 8m 00s Alone in Space heh, nice game... I was very sad to see that it was so short -- please take this as a compliment! :-) If you add the rest of the content, let us know!

The good: The little texts indicating the hotspots in the game.

The bad: I found that the character walking speed was a bit toooo slow.
Dec 20 01:45:00 16m 00s Alone in all Elona Very impressive, the idea behind the gameplay of this game was very original! I could play it for a long time.

There is just one serious bug in my opinion, that makes the game very frustrating to play: When you click and move the mouse to tilt your hand, the position of the mouse changes (even though the hand is stopped). So when you release the button, the mouse will re-appear in a completely different place. This makes it difficult to make precise movements. Maybe you should hold the mouse position when tilting the hand.

But other than that, I really liked this game!
Dec 20 01:53:00 8m 00s Alone in the Unknown Thanks for the game! You should make some sort of audio cue about how long it will take for a door to close after pressing a plate.
Dec 20 02:34:00 41m 00s Courage Quest Wonderful game! Really, the animations, the graphics, the game idea in general, and its execution, it blew me away! Thanks for the game, and congratulations.

Three comments:
* Maybe you should move the reset key away from the command keys? I'm clumsy and reset the game one or two times while playing it. :-(

* I was getting movement keys stuck a few times while playing.

* You should cut some of the "sleep time" away from the timelapse ;-)

Cheers,
Dec 20 02:48:00 14m 00s A rather Lonely Darkness Thanks for the game. It was not bad at all.

Some suggestions:
- You need better visual clues for the dungeon area - the dark gray walls dont really look like walls, and the "insta death pits" were annoying when I found out what they were.

- Make the game detect when it loses focus and auto-pause. With a "aim and click" shooter, there is always the risk of the mouse clicking outside of the screen during combat.

- Maybe increase the speed of the character a bit?
Dec 20 02:56:00 8m 00s Node 2F40E I must suck, I couldnt pass the first screen! :-P Or maybe there should be some sort of hint for solving the password >_>
Dec 20 03:02:00 6m 00s Soap I liked it! It was a different take of the puzzle idea. "get away from the dirty monster!" hehe :-) Well done!
Dec 20 03:16:00 14m 00s The End Very nice game all around! And I disagree with Falkreon. You may have three characters, but they don't interact at all... they are in the same place, but oblivious to the presence of one another. :-) Thanks for the game!
Dec 20 15:35:00 12h 19m Alone In A Crowd +1 for mood. +1 for kittens
-1 for not making much sense -> I got to the end with the girl and the cat, it should be a slightly different ending there.
+1 for randomly generated mazes
+1 for simple graphics that work with the abstract proposal
+1 for rather addictive game: simple gameplay and ¨are there more rooms?¨ factor
-1 If we cant backtrack from a room, you shouldn´t show the way back, that was a bit frustrating.

Thanks for the game, I liked it!
Dec 20 15:51:00 16m 00s Brothers Thanks for the game. It was an interesting mechanic. Even if the dots only move in one direction, there is the need to touch them with the right amount of force. I had fun with the challenge.

It seems that even if a brother disappears, the dots still affect him. Also it seems that you lose life by pushing a dot out of the game area, even if that dot does not touch a brother.

The poetry was kinda weird :-/
Dec 20 18:33:00 2h 42m Void Well, you guys tried, that's what counts :-) The level design looks nice.
Dec 20 18:51:00 18m 00s Screaming It was nice trying out this game.

Positives:
I liked the bit-ly look. I think it worked, and gave me nostalgia for my atari games :-). The controls were also working smoothly. The zombies talking back was very creative.

Negatives:
I had no idea what to do. After a while, it would just get repetitive. The trees changed to show that I was progress, right. But then all progress seemed to stop. Even the zombies disappeared. Maybe give more visual/auditive clues about the progress of the game?
Dec 20 18:57:00 6m 00s Project Robert Sean I couldn't get it to run. It displays the splash screen then crashes :-(
Dec 20 19:08:00 11m 00s Worlds End Thanks for the game. I liked the lighting centred on the robot, although sometimes you couldn't see where is the turret shooting at you.

Some pointers:
On the stage with the locked door down, the one with two cannons after the teleporter room, there is only one key for three doors in a row.

The rate of fire of the cannons is too fast. It is basically a slugfast, with almost no dodging involved.
Dec 20 19:33:00 25m 00s Containment Thanks for your effort! I liked the initial screen, it had a nice "feel" to it.

That said, I thought the controls were a bit frustrating... in the room with many boxes and faucets, the controls were too coarse, and I couldn't get the boxes to pile up. They would fall down to the slightest touch.
Dec 20 20:05:00 32m 00s VOXTERIUM Wonderful! The gameplay was addictive, and I felt explored something that is quite novel (fixed enemy, moving player). The "virus" idea was nice too.

And Kittens, everybody loves kittens.

Two suggestions:
* The game-over text is hard to read. Maybe you should draw a solid box under it?
* This game is begging for a high-scores screen.
Dec 20 20:16:00 11m 00s Ennui Nice idea. I don't really like how almost everyone is going to the "Alone = sad/angsty", but you managed to make it work.

The different "death" messages really add to the game too.

I think it was not really clear that after getting the paper you needed to go to the right side of the screen. It took me a while to realize that.

Also, you becoming sad when hit by happy sayings from other people was a bit strange. Maybe they should say something else?

Thanks for the game, I liked it! Hope you make more levels.
Dec 20 20:32:00 16m 00s LISA I walked and I walked and I walked. And then suddenly I died.

The hexagonal movement idea was nice. The idea of the game was cool too. It would have been better if it there was a non-fullscreen mode, and if there was some way to tell how close you are to dying.
Dec 20 20:41:00 9m 00s The Darkness You Wander Alone Whoa! I liked it! A nice exemplar of retro gaming. I gave it a better graphics rating than many games with 16 bit sprites around here, because everything fits together so nicely. Also, transitions!

Fullscreen only makes me sad, though.
Dec 20 20:56:00 15m 00s Herp Dermit I couldn't get this to run... complained about MSVCP100D.dll missing.
Dec 20 21:00:00 4m 00s A Typical Saturday Well, you did mention some nice games there, I guess...

>_>
Dec 20 21:31:00 31m 00s FELINUS: the cat gods Interesting that each cat had such different mechanics. Thanks for the game.
Dec 20 21:40:00 9m 00s Minotaurus You coded an online multiplayer engine? That is really nice!
The monsters dont attack you if you stay in a room, that is kinda weird. Also, if the position of the player and the monsters in the screen has no meaning, maybe they shouldn't be moving around that much.

Nice work, though!
Dec 20 21:58:00 18m 00s Singing Zombies Zombies! I love zombies. I was intrigued by the "singing zombies" in the title, but the zombies in your game don't sing. I felt a bit cheated.

I really wanted to sing, because the song in the game got annoying really quick :-(

The challenge was good, though. I wish the city was a bit smaller.
Dec 20 22:21:00 23m 00s Leave Me Alone! Is this the emo teenager son of the Sokoban guy? Am I a bad person for enjoying watching the little punk die in flames more than I did winning the levels? So many existential questions...

I liked the game. The top one suggestion I would make was to skip the "press button once to turn, and once more to walk". That made the longer levels a bit annoying to complete.
Dec 20 22:33:00 12m 00s Alone Ozone That is a very creative take on the theme. Good thinking! Also, interesting that the CFC particles give you a variety of bad status.

The game was a bit on the easy side though, and it it would be nice if the human bonuses were better.

Some animation would improve this game by light years!
Dec 20 22:57:00 24m 00s A Lone Story That death sound IS annoying. Nice work on the menus, many people skip this part, but I think it makes a game much easier to digest.

Why is your game file so big? I can't imagine what in this game makes it a 27Mb download...
Dec 20 23:08:00 11m 00s Colorless Hope Very nice! I loved all the little things hidden through the scenario, like the failed bot :-)

Hope you will make more levels!
Dec 20 23:22:00 14m 00s The Love Letter From all the games that I've rated so far, this one has the best and most creative use of the theme. Congratz!

I really liked the idea of the game and the graphical style. Too bad that you didn't manage to make an ending by the time you've submitted. If you do submit a new version with an ending, please let me know!
Dec 20 23:42:00 20m 00s Alone in the Universe Hmmm, it needs some gameplay... But as a tech demo, it was nice! Gratz for finishing it!
Dec 21 00:54:00 1h 12m The Sheep & The Peach Thanks for the pointer! I liked playing your little adventure.

You did indeed manage to invoke emotions. Although I felt more worried about the sheep than I felt sad about the peach. Not sure if that is what you were going for :-P "What happened to sheep?". I liked both characters, though.

The graphics and the sounds go very well together, and add to the mood of the game, I liked that!

I would comment about the invisible walls... I see that you already mentioned that in your blog! That really stands out though :-(

Thanks for the game, and gratz for completing LD48 :-)
Dec 21 22:45:00 21h 51m Alone on Ganymede Very interesting concept.

That said, the game is flawed in one major way: Don`t distribute sources without a binary! I do not want to install the dev form of the SLD packages in my home computer just to play your game. :-(

As for the game itself, I liked the mechanic of slowly building your ship. Having the ¨detector¨ part near the beginning was nice, but it would be better if that part provided a mini map. It was mostly a guessing game to hit the last two parts.
Dec 21 22:52:00 7m 00s KIitty It's the Ice Skating kitty!!! Wheee!

Well, you have a talent for 2D art. You should sit and do a postmortem, to find out what you can do better next LD to make a game worth your pixely talents :-)

Cheers,
Dec 21 23:03:00 11m 00s Cave Runner Yeah, without reset controls this game gets very frustrating. Also, you should make the jump dependent on for how long you press the jump key, this allows for more possibilities regarding level design.

Also, you should tell the players from the get go that you need to jump ON the ball to get it. Running to it has no effect.

Hope you can use your experience to make a better game next LD! :-)
Dec 21 23:39:00 36m 00s AB-ALONE Whoops.

Very nice! I loved the game overall. All the little decisions you made to make the game easier and harder, like how to recover energy without sleeping. How getting coconuts gets easier with time. Overall a great game! Thanks for inviting me to play this :-)

I have two suggestions for immediate improvement of the game:
1- A skip button for the opening sequence
2- When I select a tool, I can't select craft without selecting "select" before. So if I break a rock, and want to craft flint, for example, there is one extra click that is unnecessary (and I kept doing it wrong during the game)

Good job!
Dec 21 23:59:00 20m 00s Robotic Friend Interesting game, thanks for the effort you put on it.

However, at first sight there are a lot of things that will turn people away from the game: the story screen cut in half, and the sounds were mentioned, but the control scheme is also a bit iffy. Ctrl to shoot and Shift to jump is a combinations that is not very good to the hands - added that there is no explanation to the controls, I had to fiddle with the keyboard for a bit until I found them.

But after you get past these initial hurdles, it is a game well worth playing. Thanks!

PS: Oh yeah, I liked the decision that you made about how water interacts with the robot, and the small file size. Two +1s for you!
Dec 22 00:02:00 3m 00s Alone - Island Generator Oh man, if you JUST had created an option to save the islands to some sort of text file.
Dec 22 00:09:00 7m 00s Loquere + Mapping text to space was interesting.
- There were quite a few collision bugs
- The gloomy-thing was exaggerated, without being funny
Dec 22 00:17:00 8m 00s The Seventh Day A very nice game, that looks well polished, and plays well. I liked the cutesy graphics, with the weird weapons and the glyphs in the beginning. Props for giving us the option to fast forward the opening!

One big negative point though: The sounds were terribly annoying! I turned off the sound for this one.

But thanks for the game, I liked it!
Dec 22 00:27:00 10m 00s Alone Nice! I didn't give the game much credit at first, but there is some solid gameplay here!

You obviously need a start game screen and better graphics. If you are going to upload this to Kong, you better add some weapons and upgrades ;-) But I really like the pace of this game.

Also, small bug, even if my new score is lower than my high score, the game over screen still says "you got a new high score!"

Thanks for the game!
Dec 22 00:41:00 14m 00s ALONE Very interesting game. I liked the idea, it reminds me of those Orisinal web games.

I think the game would improve a lot if:
- Instead of the harsh sounds we have now, you added more soothing sounds, and some sort of tranquil music
- Instead of the points wobbling towards their destination, if the movement was more fluid.

With the two above points, I think the current graphical style can be kept - maybe having the colored dots change color over time, or maybe the screen change color over time.

Anyway, very nice game, thanks!
Dec 22 01:02:00 21m 00s Take care of the trees Not bad, the music was very nice! The graphical style also worked.

I cut ALL the tress, but I got nothing in return :-( He asked me to take care of the trees.... I took care of ALL of them.... why don't I get anything for that? :-P

The "Try again" screen took a bit too long. Also, while it is a nice adventure, it is not quite a game.

Thanks for the entry!
Dec 22 01:33:00 31m 00s The Last Man on Earth Congratz in finishing your game!

I think the levels need some walls. It doesn't feel like a spaceship when the levels are open like that. A background would do wonders for the game as well.

Also... the aliens beat the army of humans, our weapons do nothing against them, and then a punk kid with a gun manages to take them out? lol :-)
Dec 22 01:48:00 15m 00s Alone in the Rain LOL!

LOL!

The game is deliciously challenging and insane.... I couldn't stop laughing while playing it. Whatever you had when you made this, please send me some!

Ah, there is a strange bug where sometimes the main character will take some damage even if he is not remotely close to a refrigerator... just walking.
Dec 22 01:58:00 10m 00s Eyes of Madness Waves and waves of monsters coming at you! I liked the idea of this game.

Things that I think it needs, in order: Bigger screen (this is too tiny!), sounds (you can create sound effects quickly with sfxr, try it!), and some sort of upgrade.

Also, your text is all in the wrong places.
Dec 22 02:03:00 5m 00s Leave me Alone!!! Hmmm. The controls are smooth, that is nice. But I was expecting a bit more.

Maybe you should have added that "Shield" idea that you wrote on the blog? Or maybe some backgrounds? Some sounds for the balls crashing?

Thanks for the game!
Dec 22 02:05:00 2m 00s Duke Ludum Forever Lol!

I see what you did there!
Dec 22 02:22:00 17m 00s Margrets Runaway Very interesting concept, smooth graphics, and responsive controls. But the game just wasn't fun to play. Margret walked around, picking berries and rocks, and a diamond, and then she died.

Some ideas to improve the game:
* Give us a key to open the inventory screen. We have to use the inventory all the time to eat berries, so this should have been streamlined.
* Give the player some idea of how far he is from the goal. Ok, I have a diamond, a gold bar, some flint. Are any of these one of the three ingredients? Are they used for crafting the items? Are they trash items?
* Make something that indicates the end of the world. No one likes invisible walls.

Thanks for the game! I really liked the smooth graphics.

PS: Reading the comments, I couldn't find a twig... I clicked on a bunch of trees, and not one gave me anything.
Dec 22 02:36:00 14m 00s Lonely Soul You certainly know how to setup a good atmosphere.

I think you could have made a nice game if you focused less on "sending a message" and more on gaming possibilities of three dimensional navigation :-)

Going through thin bridges with ghasts around seems like the seed of a great game.

Nice work anyway!
Dec 22 02:45:00 9m 00s Painkiller Nice that you participated in your first dare!

The game is too glitchy though, you need to reserve more time to test if everything is working.

The worst offender is that too often, when you appear in a new floor, you may be stuck between boxes without a route to the next stairway -- you need to set up some routine in the maze generation function that verifies if there is a valid path between the entry stairway and the exit stairway before validating the level.

Good luck next LD!
Dec 22 03:01:00 16m 00s OMFG FFS will you LEAVE me ALONE Nice! Two words for what it needs: Armor damage ;-)

It was not very clear that your health bar reduces when any enemy is on the screen, not when they touch you. The first time I died and no enemy was touching me, I was like "lolwut"?

Thanks for the game!
Dec 22 03:04:00 3m 00s Catspace 3-D Mazes = Nice idea.

Hope you can put this idea to good use next LD!
Dec 22 03:09:00 5m 00s Lone Ghosthunter The idea has some potential. Killing ghosts for life, and limited amount of damage balances well with the enormous number of ghosts.

However, the collision with the doors in the rooms is a bit harsh - I would get stuck often when trying to move between rooms.

Also, ASWD for moving does not go very well with Space for shooting: the keys are too close to each other.

Keep battling on! :-)
Dec 22 03:29:00 20m 00s Varon Sector Nice effort, but the game is still quite bugged. The first time I played I fell in the cracks between two ground pieces :-(

The mixture of aimed shots and not aimed shots was also a bit hard to deal with. maybe you want to scrap this "aimed shot" idea altogether?

Good luck next LD!
Dec 22 03:36:00 7m 00s Alone Well, looking at your time lapse, you did spend a lot of time on the sprites... maybe you should leave those for last, and start with simple shapes as character... a good game with squares is better than an incomplete game with nice sprites :-)
Dec 22 03:55:00 19m 00s The Library of Madness An ASCII game, how nice!

Pluses:
+ Mythos creatures that can't die
+ The idea of losing sanity just by being near the creatures
+ The general mood

Minuses:
- I got killed because of the kitten! D: I couldn't change places with it, and got stuck between a kitten and a Creature
- No game over screen, the game just freezes on death.
- Needs to restart the program to play again

Adding an inventory system, or a way to read past notes would have been awesome.

Thanks for the game!
Dec 22 04:07:00 12m 00s 10 Yards Alone "Target audience would know the rules already" - uh, non-US devs are not invited to the party? ;-)

The game was quite confusing at first, I had to realize that sometimes it is not interesting to send the ball to the machine. The voice kinda clashes with the simple sounds/graphics. Also, the game crashes when you lose.

But that was a unique idea, thanks for the game!
Dec 22 04:15:00 8m 00s Terrified That is one dangerous golf field!

There is one huge bug in the game: The mouse hotspot is in the handle of the baseball bat, not in the "business end", so to hit things you have to click them with the handle, which is weird.

Also, there is no really way to lose the game, which makes it a little boring.

But good that you managed to dust off your coding skills a bit!
Dec 22 04:27:00 12m 00s Loyd's Tale Not bad at all. The graphics are simple, but the controls are very responsive, the level design has a healthy amount of challenge, and there are very few collision bugs.

You should get rid of the invisible walls in some stages, and add a proper ending, and you will have a great game in hands.

Oh, and I don't mind the birds, no need to apologize :-)
Dec 22 04:34:00 7m 00s Wait up guys The sprites are nice, but no animation lessens their effect a lot. Controls are very glitchy... what is your FPS?

Also, you should include a losing condition in the game.
Dec 22 04:42:00 8m 00s Subconsciously Alone Hard game, but the concept is interesting.

The controls were quite complicated and hard to get right, but I think a better learning curve might solve that. You should keep working on the balance, I think there is a nice game brewing here.

The animation of the main character is cute :-)
Dec 22 19:49:00 15h 07m Alone in Red-F Labs I tried the windows launcher... It ran for a few seconds then the game crashed :-(
Dec 22 20:06:00 17m 00s Skull Hunt Nice platformer. The idea of picking up items and throwing them makes your game stand out a bit!

Once during the game I glitched through a platform, you might want to look into that. Also, it was a bit too easy. Maybe faster enemies/enemies that shoot, or something might help.

Some suggestions:
- The text in the introduction is glued to the left side of screen. Give it some room to breathe!
- The inventory line is kinda "hidden", even if it is at the top of the screen. (your character stays on the bottom, so that is where you will focus your eye). You might want to put a background on the inventory list.

Oh, and cool thing that you can throw the goal objects as weapons :-D

Thanks for the game!
Dec 22 20:33:00 27m 00s Va Unan I couldn't get the game to run. My browser would crash after the introductory text :-(
Dec 22 20:48:00 15m 00s My Own World Thanks for suggesting the game! I liked it, although it was frustratingly hard. The sounds really worked well together, and you even added kittens!

Two things that I might add to your game:
- A bigger screen - your screen was tiny! For a game that needs fast and precise mouse coordination, tiny screens like that are murder

- Don't make the current platform disappear until you finish drawing the next one.

Thanks for the game
Dec 22 21:20:00 32m 00s She Loves You Wow, that was a rather unique trip, thanks! :-)

First the mood - that is what will remain from the game... such a creepy mood. Good thing that you decided to go with a first person view, my mind was going places trying to imagine what was the thing that was following that girl, making her cry, then going away and throwing her eyes...

What where those eyes DOING to her? Man, this game is creepy. And the level design/sounds/image helps a lot.

Well, suggestions - you need an ending screen, but you probably know that. That really stands out, even though I have no idea how this game should end.

The jump animation was a bit tiny. The player can actually jump much higher than the animation suggests, and that was a bit misleading.

Levels were a bit too easy once you knew what you had to do. The first level ended up being the most fun in terms of gameplay, because in the other ones the girl would often get trapped in some corner and not move much anymore.

Thanks for the game!
Dec 22 21:36:00 16m 00s The Wizard Apprentice Nice game, the puzzles were pretty cool, and this was quite different from what everybody else is doing.

Looking at your blog, it seems that you are already working on the main issues I would have raised: lack of depth for a 3D game, 1st person camera not pointing at the same place as the apprentice.

I would also suggest that you allow some limited form of movement when in first person, so it is a bit easier to hit those windows from the right angle.

Also, you should check out sfxr for some simple sounds, like the cabinets and porticullis opening.

Great game, thanks!
Dec 22 21:52:00 16m 00s HUG MONSTER Hey! Thanks for pointing me to your game!

The hug monster is so cute <3, although I was a bit sad every time I saw him happily jump off a cliff to his death :~(. Poor hug monster.

I liked the idea, but I'm having difficulties playing the game. First, the controls are really sticky. It is very hard to gauge how much you need to run and jump to get atop a platform, and, when you fail, your guy gets stuck in mid air.

Second, the fourth level (third?) is a bit buggy. It is the first one where the hug monster does not begin behind you. When I try to reach for the house, it floats to the skies and disappears. Then if I die to try again, the house is not there anymore and the level is not winnable :-( </3

Hope you can solve your problems with sound, and thanks for talking about other people's games! :-D

A suggestion:
The character should face where the player is pointing, not where he is running too - it gets a bit easier to tell your brain that the character is trying to stop that way
Dec 22 22:12:00 20m 00s Moving Day Interesting game, I love runners. The kitten in the end was a bit creepy though.

Why did you scrap your original psychedelic graphics (from the blog), those looked more interesting :-)

Some suggestions:
* The obstacle course seems completely random - at least one time I got a run that was completely devoid of obstacles past the first two - you might want to tweak that.

* I ran past my friend, woooosh!

* After a time, the background starts to flicker. I wonder if this is intentional, but it sure does look like a glitch.

Thanks for the game!
Dec 22 22:27:00 15m 00s Solus Very freaking good! The idea is simple, but the execution is magnificent. I loved the graphics, the level design, the boss battle and the hidden kittens!

Thanks for the amazing game, and nice work!

Edit: It seems that I've played a version where you don't start from the beginning when you die. Thanks for that!
Dec 22 22:55:00 28m 00s Split Party! Whoa, very polished game, thanks for sharing it with us!

But it was kinda mean. We made all those boxes cry :-(

One suggestion is to make the palette of the background change, just to add a bit of variety.
Dec 22 23:08:00 13m 00s Splaser Strife FOR THE SAKE OF OUR CARPAL TUNNELS PLEASE MAKE Z AUTOFIRE!

Sorry, I had to get that off my chest. The game is already difficult enough (and not in a bad way), but having to press Z for every single shot just makes my hand exhausted after my second try.

Otherwise nice polish all around, specially the graphics! You might want to render the text outside the play area though.
Dec 22 23:36:00 28m 00s Neural Entanglements Very interesting mechanics! Thanks for the entry.

The game lacks a LOT of polish, and of course feels unfinished, but I think that if you kept working on it, you would have a very interesting game on your hands.

Some suggestions:
- Cut down the text in the entrance screen. Replace it by images, or make the text appear little by little. No one likes walls of text like that (at least not for such a simple game!)

- Give the player some cue that the commands have changed. Maybe a visual signal, or maybe a sound. Doesn't need to be very obvious, but right now I couldn't figure out if the commands changed when I passed a tower, or when the tower disappeared from the play area.

- this game needs a score! Infinite games (specially runners) always need a score.

- Graphics: get someone to make you a running 8-bit sheep :-)

- The game crashes out when you lose.

Thanks for the nice idea. I hope you keep improving it!
Dec 22 23:50:00 14m 00s Alone in a cave I liked the concept, and also the graphics! Having an option to change the difficulty level was nice, although I didn't feel much of a difference other than the light radius was smaller.

However, even though the concept is good, the game was not quite fun yet. It became repetitive way too fast. Maybe add some levers to pull, buttons to push? The sounds didn't help either.

Some suggestions:
- The score is always the same, 1 point per level, regardless of the difficulty. Make higher difficulties award more points!

- There is a bug where if a mountain is generated that takes the character off screen from above, the level is considered completed when the character leaves through the top.

- Tweak level generation to avoid those "off screen mountains".

- Try less harsh sounds.

Good luck with your game!
Dec 22 23:55:00 5m 00s Al-one Hmmm, you might want to resize the game area. At the moment I need to scroll the browser up and down to see everything. Can't get the whole game on a screen.
Dec 23 00:08:00 13m 00s Enneige I liked that his footsteps got bloody when you took damage.

That said, the sound was very annoying, and it was hard to know exactly what I had to do. Get one wood? Three? There was some talk about food?

Also, having your game install things in my computer is not good at all, you should make a game that can run without needing to go through a installer.

Cheers!
Dec 23 00:22:00 14m 00s Fatward Thanks for the entry, it was a very interesting story, and the pace was not bad. It was good enough to play a second time once you know what is going on.

There were some graphical glitches - sometimes the bottom of Edward's sprite would overlap the top of a wall tile.

Also, I found the "grid" overlay to be annoying.
Dec 23 01:00:00 38m 00s Descension Yay, voxels! This game was quite cute! Also, I REALLY liked the boss taunts, they gave some charm to your game.

A few things you might want to improve:
- More player feedback! I couldn't tell when I was taking damage, nor how fast - the HP numbers were too small, and in a place in the screen far away from the action.
- Sometimes the NPC text would be cut off by the end of the screen

Keep working on it!
Dec 23 01:07:00 7m 00s A Visitor Thanks for writing the game! I liked the general message of the game.

I think the game might improve a lot if you add an effect when you enter and leave a portal.

Maybe moving portals too?
Dec 23 01:37:00 30m 00s Blue Moon That's a very original mechanic, powering machines with your life force, and a very interesting one! It was very fun playing around with the energy levels. +1 for kittens :3

The graphics and animations give the character a very polished feel.

The only suggestion that comes to my mind is to increase the difficulty a bit after powering up the generator. Being able to infinitely recharge from elevators made the game a bit cheap after that. One alternative would be for the beams to turn back on after a short amount of time, so you can't just turn off half the beans, regen at an elevator way back, turn off another half of the beans, etc.

Congratz for the great game!
Dec 23 01:49:00 12m 00s Diamond Darkness This is a very cool idea, and the shadow effects are nice. But at the moment, the game is too frustrating to play.

As CPO said, I couldn't find any diamonds, and as CplMustard said, without a small area of light around the player, we just can't see where the fast monsters are coming from.

An alternative would be to have the sillouette of the monsters appear (no color), when not under the flashlight, so you know you need to run, but you don't know what color to use to kill them.

Also, changing colors to match the monsters using the scroll wheel is a bit too hard at the moment. Maybe use the right button instead? Or make the scrool wheel a tad lass sensitive? Or use less colors?

Hope you keep working on the cool concept!
Dec 23 01:57:00 8m 00s Asteroids: Alone Edition >_>

Ok, I had a laugh.

Oh, and I even found a bug in your game: kitten will not appear if you have a popup blocker on ;-)
Dec 23 02:26:00 29m 00s Follow A short but very sweet game. You managed to achieve a very nice mood. I didn't find the puzzles that obscure as some of the previous comments.

One suggestion I would make is to make the doors more ... doorly. Midway through the game kinda you get used to it, but still.

Thanks!
Dec 23 02:35:00 9m 00s Zombie in love must remain alone. Very beautiful Graphics! I'm looking forward to see the game completed :-)
Dec 23 02:46:00 11m 00s The Solitude of Sam Smith Interesting concept, but I think you could have gone further away with it. As it stands, the game is basically "collect the blue orbs". Maybe you could make it so that you lose tranquility (or "inspiration?") if you have either too much loneliness, or too much solace.

Oh, a small bug in your game: you can get the player to the top of the screen (where the loneliness meter is), and no symbols will get there. So you can just grab a few solaces and then go there to wait for the end of the game. Maybe block the movement in this area?

Something else that would add to this game is giving some vertical movement to the symbols.

Thanks for the game! :-)
Dec 23 03:12:00 26m 00s The Social Network I read in your blog that you felt you were not up to snuff with your C skills. I feel you should have tried anyway, even if you kept this idea and made a text adventure with C and some library, that would get your feet wet and start to give you ideas of what problems to expect for the next LD.

Anyway, about this game. It was not a bad idea, but it lacked depth. I found the attacks of the opponents pretty amusing. Maybe instead of battling one opponent at a time, you might have turned this into a "management" game instead, where you have a number of actions per "day", to distribute between attacking many different people in your circle -- some to try to break them away, others to prevent them from attacking you. That could be interesting.

Cheers!
Dec 23 03:33:00 21m 00s Alone in a cave That was a very fun game! I'm quite tired at the moment, so I couldn't get past the room with the first golden key, but I'll make sure to give it another go tomorrow with a fresh mind.

The music and graphics work very well together to compose the mood, and the game looks well finished.

My only suggestion would be to add keyboard controls - for some people this make the game faster to operate or easier to control. Also, maybe add a key to skip the walking animation?

Thanks a lot!
Dec 23 04:38:00 1h 05m Lonely Planet Sorry for the delay, I didn't check twitter until now! >.<

I think you have a collection of good ideas in this game: Attracting enemies to traps/player becomes invisible when idle/the general idea of a hungry planet.

I found a few quirks in the game though:
1- in many places, it was possible to glitch through the walls of the levels and fall into "crazyworld"
2- It was a bit hard to tell when you could and when you couldn't go through the green vents.
3- The collision detection is still a bit wonky, it was really hard to navigate the platforms even in the first "true" level.

Add some sounds, animations and balancing, and you will have a great game based on these ideas you have!
Dec 23 19:10:00 14h 32m Arzea Hey Arceus, thanks for the game, it was addictive and fun :-) I had to make myself stop so that I would have time to rate the other games of my list, but I'll definitely be returning to this.

Some suggestions that came to my mind while playing:
- When you shoot an immortal enemy, the game should provide some sort of feedback - maybe a metallic sound or something? I know it has been done to death, but it took me more than it should to realize the iron balls were immortal
- Maybe you should tone down a bit on the respawn rate? It seems to me that one could easily grind some levels by going back and forth in some places. Or some times trying to do a trickier jump, having to return, and killing the same enemies again is kinda frustrating - maybe increase the needed distance for enemies to spawn?

Thanks for the game, and cheers!
Dec 23 19:25:00 15m 00s Spawn Wow, I love it! This game hits all the right buttons with me. I love games where you create things, and this gives a whole new idea to the genre! The sounds and graphics work really well together, and even the strange controls relate to the "strangeness" of the game :-)

Here are some suggestions for an even cooler game:
1- Scroll wheel on the mouse for zooming out: I want to see all the creatures I've made spread over the sea!
2- Interaction among the creatures
3- Maybe some colors of nutrients are produced by certain creatures? So the sea begins with, say, yellow and blue nutrients, and one of the creatures (say, blue blue yellow) drops green nutrients. Not sure if that is the direction you see for this game, but that would be nice.

4- A "screensaver mode" where the computer plays alone without sound :-) I wouldn't mind watching this game play by itself while doing something else.

Cheers!
Dec 23 19:34:00 9m 00s Alone With a Phone Wow, the first rhythm game I've seen here. I like those... but you really need sounds for a rhythm game to work! No music needed - blips and blops for the cellphone can be generated by sfxr, and you can add some indistinguishable murmur for the background, since "crowd" and stuff.

Instead of "space space click", I would go for "space space enter" or some other key combination. Easier on the player's hands, and might allow for harder difficulty levels.

Sometimes the speech bubbles from the people in the background cover your cellphone, is that intentional? I didn't like this much.

Thanks for the game!
Dec 23 19:49:00 15m 00s Comfort Zone Loved the music, and the idea for the gameplay. Took me a while to figure out how things worked (and I'm not sure if I got everything right yet), but it was fun to figure things out.

Maybe instead of one huge maze, you could have multiple smaller ones?
Dec 23 20:12:00 23m 00s BLIND Very interesting! And hellishly difficult! Is it me or the goal moves around in later levels? I would send the sonar in one direction and hear the goal "pang", then send it again and not hear it anymore. It would have been better to warn players of this possibility!

But I liked it a lot, that was quite different.

Suggestion: After completing each level, show a replay of the player walking around the maze (a-la meat boy). It would have been cool to see me going round and round :-)

Maybe you should add a random level generator too?
Dec 23 20:25:00 13m 00s Worst Birthday Ever Heh, I like the attitude - "I only have 5 hours but I will submit something anyway!". And in 5 hours you docreate some content and a working adventure framework. Nice!
Dec 23 20:42:00 17m 00s Survive The Desert Thanks for pointing me to your entry! I like the mix of "I hate the world" and bizarre scenes (even though I think you could have pushed further to the later).

The slow transition scenes were a pain, though. Maybe after 5 steps or so you could give the player the option to press some key to skip the transition? The delay makes your game a bit hard to replay.
Dec 23 21:09:00 27m 00s Alone in the Scary Darkness with Zombies Great lighting, and the sound is not bad either! Also, zombies are my weak spot. Anything with zombies gets points in my book :-) It was very fun hunting the zombies in the house... It took me a while to find the last one, and for a second I thought, what if... I AM the last zombie?

But then I found out that I could jump with space and forgot that silly idea.

Anyway, some suggestions:
- There is a health box in the second floor that can't be picked up. It is near a door by a zombie.
- Since lighting and the 3D visuals are the strong point of your game, maybe you should make a level design that put that more in evidence. For example, I was thinking of things such as a hole in the second floor looking down into the first.
- Combat was a bit dull... approach the zombies from behind, then hack hack hack hack... Maybe if the attack of the zombie was faster, deadlier, but also had some cooldown, we could have a more dynamic combat: approach, hit, get away... bait an attack, get away, approach hit, etc.

Thanks for the game :-D
Dec 28 11:01:00 109h 52m The Lonely Alien A text adventure was a nice choice. However, you should have paid a bit more attention to the font. The font's size + the color compared with the background color made the text very difficult to read. The music was also a bit repetitive. Maybe you should fade it out after a while?

Suggestion: have all items always displayed, or a scrollable selection.

Thanks for the game!
Dec 28 11:13:00 12m 00s The Grey Waste The game was quite ambitious. Unfortunately, a bunch of bugs made it a bit difficult to enjoy it:

- There was some collision bug on the bridge in the first level: I would walk really slowly on it without jumping
- On the second level, there were some one-way walls, and many missed shapes. I could walk on air in some parts, and the spell room was all open.
- The Controls screen was a bit too fast. I had to start the game three times to get all the controls.

Also, I would suggest you drop the "press left mouse button to look around", I don't quite see the reason to leave that locked, since on FP games we usually move the camera around all the time. Also, if you DID move the mouse without pressing LMB, the camera would "jump" to the real mouse position when you pressed it.

Hope you fix these bugs, I liked your level design!
Dec 28 11:28:00 15m 00s Alone- The search for home. I quite enjoyed it. Yeah, the graphics are simple, but I think you have a very solid idea here. Some comments:

* The fuel consumption vs income is brutal. I completed about 5 or 6 missions and had to refuel twice without any income. This meant I had not money to repair and died on the battle mission. Suggestion: make "w,s" accelerate, not move, this would give the opportunity to use some skill to save fuel.

* The ship was faster than the shots! If I traveled in the direction I was shooting, I the shots would come back!

* The text for the quests was too tiny, you might want to make it a bit bigger, and maybe display it on the center of the screen.

* The compass was a great addition, but it was not very accurate.

* When I died, the game did not let me restart :-(

Thanks for the Timelapse, it was fun watching it!
Dec 28 11:35:00 7m 00s Argus Finnigan's: Loneliness is R'lyehian The animation was nice. Looking that gentleman flip around with his unreasonably large hands was hilarious. That said, the text was a bit weird, I hope you were going for satire.

There is a bug on the third screen, you can get stuck in the bottom right corner.
Dec 28 11:54:00 19m 00s ALONE .. Developer LOL, perfect! I was thinking just about this idea midway through my game. Glad to see that someone else thought and went through with it!

And it was a fun game too. I had to try 4 or 5 times, but I finally managed to finish my game (and with 30 hours to spare too!) I was a bit sad that you didn't put a win screen in :-)

Oh, you can go out, I'm not sure you intended that to happen. But nothing happens. And the music got annoying on my third way through the game.

You should definitely expand on this! More items/interactions. A motivation level separate from productivity. Maybe some choices like ambitious/simple game in the beginning affect the difficulty. And an ending! :-)
Dec 28 12:23:00 29m 00s DiggyDig Poor dwarf. So much digging and not a bit of hematite or clownite in sight!

Amazing game! The idea is simple, yet unique, and I found it really fun to dig around with my eraser pick :-) Here are some comments/suggestions:

- I found it actually more difficult to dig with the bigger brush sizes. And since I didn't know whether a box was more jumping power, or more digging power, I was a bit frustrated with the difficulty in the end. Intentional? If not, you might consider adding a button to reduce paint size.

- The controls were a bit sticky. The game often wouldn't recognize walk+jump buttons pressed at the same time.

- This game is begging for jewels/ore/score (an ending would be welcome too!)

- You should make a bottomless pit somewhere for the game over screen "They dug too deep" :-)

Thanks for the game!
Dec 28 12:42:00 19m 00s Erased At first I was "The brooding, it burns!"
But then I was "Nyan!?"
Wonderful!

I liked the amount of work you put in the active battles. Sadly, all that work goes to waste because your game does not have an FPS limiter. I could win the game by simply mashing the "1" button in every battle, and I wouldn't realize how close or how easily those battles were. Add some sleep time to your combat update functions.

That also applies to the "walking state" - the hardest thing in this game was hitting those damn stairs :-(

That said, thanks for the game, and thanks for rating so many games :-D
Dec 28 12:49:00 7m 00s Stuck I couldn't get the game to run. Crashes when running game.exe :-(
Dec 28 13:00:00 11m 00s LEFTalone Not bad at all. The controls are really responsive, and the simple graphical style works.

A few suggestions for improvement:
- Acceleration! The zombies and the player would look a bit less robotic if you added a small bit of acceleration to their movement.

- The zombies shouldn't stop the moment they lose you from their view. I think they should shamble on a little bit until they eventually stop.

It was a fun game, thanks!

BTW, your time-lapse is a bit too slow, you should double its fps.
Dec 28 13:07:00 7m 00s Alone in Space That is a neat idea with potential. I don't think I have seen any other "launch" games yet. That said, obviously it still needs a lot to be complete.

I suggest that in your next game you add instructions as soon as possible. I spent quite some time fiddling with my keyboard until I found out that I had to press up to accelerate.
Dec 28 13:16:00 9m 00s Left Alone On the good side, congrats on completing your game! You might also want to make a postmortem and rate some of the games made by other people.

On the bad side, why do you need an installer for such a small game? It raises all sorts of red flags, and will make people skip your game :-(
Dec 28 13:35:00 19m 00s AloneWithZzZobmies Nice! This was the first LD game that managed to actually scare me! Run for the door! Run for the door!

Too bad that clicking the doors closed was a bit glitchy (but we can blame that on the desperation of the main character :-P).

One suggestion: get rid of those invisible walls. They completely ruin the mood you set up, and you don't need them. If the player tries to leave the house, just have a couple of zombies waiting outside!

Thanks for the game.
Dec 28 13:53:00 18m 00s Squido does not like being alone That was a hard, fun game. My personal best was 12 friends at once!

I liked the controls and the general idea, but I didn't quite understand how to get squids to follow you... my friends would happily throw themselves to the sharks, no matter our friendship level :-(

One suggestion: Get rid of the top/bottom wraparound. Visually it doesn't make much sense, and makes you die some silly deaths to the zoidbergs.
Dec 28 14:11:00 18m 00s Tarassis That is a very cool idea! You can certainly make many novel levels using it.

I think that the astronaut sprite was approaching the uncanny valley.

I also found that pygame had some performance issues, which is a pity, because python is a lovely language. You should definitely try to to re-implement this in another language.
Dec 28 14:29:00 18m 00s AMNEISA: Little Lost Sheep So I managed to get to the last level (the one with the computer), and I touch one of the bombs by mistake.... NOOOOOOOOOOO!

Heh, that was surprisingly fun. You made SO many levels, and some challenges in there! Of course there are many things you can improve in the game, but it is an impressive work for a first entry.

Nice work on having the player collide nicely with the walls!

Here are some suggestions:
- Please fix the initial position of the shot. Having bullets coming from your feet is not inherently bad, but when it comes from different places depending on facing... not so good.
- Moving menu options... yeah, funny once, not cool :-P
- There is something wrong with the robots: sometimes they just stop following you.
- The levels need more bombs! Or something that kills you when shot but does not force the game to restart - restricting shots is a great way to increase difficulty.

Thanks for the game!
Dec 28 14:37:00 8m 00s Alone in the Dungeon What helloserve said. You should probably add the ability to keep moving by holding the mouse button (as opposed to just clicking) to your engine.
Dec 28 14:48:00 11m 00s Ego Sum It is simple, but it works in its simplicity - you put everything together very nicely.

Red dots? I didn't see any colors...

It would be nice if the phrases near each circle appeared dynamically, instead of being fixed in space. If you visit the circles in the "wrong" order, the phrases don't make much sense.

Thanks for the game!
Dec 28 14:54:00 6m 00s The Last Metalface MK2 Like the others said -- dropbox is not hosting your file anymore.
Dec 28 15:20:00 26m 00s Alone in the clouds "This story does not permit your freedom". Uuh what?

Very nice and well finished game. The controls were very responsive, and there was some challenge. The graphics and transitions worked well together, I like the effect on the border of the screen.

Two suggestions:
1- Get rid of the invisible walls: put some fences there, or make the robot fall to their death, something, but the invisible walls break the mood, and make the player feel railroaded

2- In the button puzzle, the fact that a room resets every time you re-enter makes it confusing to the player. I would go back and forth, and think that my buttons were "unpressed", when they were not.

Thanks for the very nice looking game!
Jan 2 13:26:00 118h 06m shoot stab sprint save shooter battle Looks good. Can't play it because of no keyboard support. Also, you should re-package your game so that the files are inside a directory, not in the zip itself.

Maybe you should upload a gameplay video for thos who can't play your game?
Jan 2 13:28:00 2m 00s The Travel Section Not really up to installing an iPhone simulator to run the game... maybe next time you should do it multiplatform?
Jan 2 13:53:00 25m 00s The Snubbing of the Squid Awesome! Kittens! Squids! Blocks! Ending Music!

Lol :-)

Anyway, cool game. The movement of the squid was a bit glitchy, but I liked the idea.

You should have made a second ending in case the squid dug too deep too :-P
Jan 2 14:00:00 7m 00s Space Shuttle The game was pretty fun, I kept playing again and again to beat my previous score. However, that "GAS!" sound was annoying.

The game was begging for some sort of gravity effect on the spaceship!
Jan 2 14:20:00 20m 00s A Rift in Space The music for this game was great. The controls were smooth as well! The game felt a bit on the easy side, though. Maybe if the enemy was more aggressive, or you removed the regenerative shields.

You should add timing score, to add some re-playability :-)
Jan 2 14:30:00 10m 00s Happy Land Well, technically the game is not that bad. The controls are responsible and the game runs smoothly. I would make the bullets bigger and move more slowly, since I couldn't see them at all (no sound effects didn't help). Also, I couldn't change weapons or see the weapon/ammunition display (was there one?) Gratz on finishing the game!
Jan 2 14:38:00 8m 00s Teddies That is a very interesting game dynamic. You can use once each "power" then reset all of them. I liked this really much.

That said, there were a few glitches with your game dynamic:

1- It was possible to be stuck in the second stage: if you press the fist button, then die, you have to recall your animals. In this case, it is possible to get the darkness stuck in the wrong side of the room, making the level unwinnable. Solution: all puzzle games need a "reset level" key.

2- It was pretty hard to figure out exactly where the animal would land, and what is its "hotspot". it would be cool if there was some sort of cursor or indicator of where the animal will appear - may allow for more precise controls on eventual harder levels.

Thanks for the game!
Jan 2 14:47:00 9m 00s The Lonely Sphincter Nomnomnomnom. This is surprisingly fun! :-D Needs a bigger mouth, and separate controls for the teeth and gullet. Also, it would be nice if the citizens started saying more desperate things over time :-D

Nomnomnom!
Jan 2 15:06:00 19m 00s Lonely Trader Cool concept, but landing is too damn hard.
Jan 2 15:10:00 4m 00s Alone, in a Maze Interesting concept, but the first time I tried to play it, the game put my character in a 1-cell wide room from which I couldn't get out... you need to check your maze generation function.
Jan 2 15:14:00 4m 00s Nothing But Stars The game is not finished, but the movement and control responses were quite neat! I liked the music also!

Hope you can finish more of your game next LD, and thanks for rating a bunch of games! :-)
Jan 2 15:39:00 25m 00s Atlantic Flight ONE Roguelikes are always welcome! But this game felt a bit too random. There was no way to intuit where the islands were, so winning or losing was based mostly on the luck of finding good islands while dashing for the shore.

At least I arrived with my clothing in great condition - such a dapper cast away!
Jan 2 15:45:00 6m 00s Leave Me Alone I have XNA but this game still refuses to run. You should use a more compatible library.
Jan 2 15:48:00 3m 00s The Pit I can run this, but it won't jump (although it makes the jumping noises). Why would the music just run on Chrome?
Jan 2 16:04:00 16m 00s Fernands War Really nice. The game feels fluid and is very fun/responsive to play. It also has kittens and a twist (twisttens?)

The opening screen was great, but there was a big delay between pressing space and the game actually beginning.
Jan 2 16:51:00 47m 00s Lifeless Nice, expansive graphics! You should have remade your level design to avoid invisible walls -- invisible walls suck.

Thanks for the game.
Jan 2 16:58:00 7m 00s Lonely Shepherd Oh la la!

The idea of this game is pretty neat. That said, it needs a lot more complexity for it to work.
Jan 2 17:03:00 5m 00s Freerunner Here are some hints:

1- The timer is annoying, get rid of it.
2- You should tweak your level design, so that the game starts easier and gets progressively more difficult as time goes on.
Jan 2 17:11:00 8m 00s Forever Alone Life management games will always have a warm place in my heart. Thanks for this game!

A few pointers though:
- Make your mind about the PoV of the game "I study for one hour" x "you take a shower"
- There is no feedback about the effectiveness (or lack of) each action (other than the instant game overs). How efficient was my study? What did I program? Am I tired?
- I spent the entire week without sleeping once :-P
Jan 2 17:18:00 7m 00s Lava Kittens YOU DIED OF LAVA BURNS :-P

Cool. Some nice level design in there :-P

But even if you scrapped all your code D2, that still counts against the time you used to complete your game ;-)

This is probably a game for physicists.
Jan 2 17:31:00 13m 00s Not Alone Nice graphics... you should add the controls IN-game. It is easy to forget if you just read the controls here.

Cheers
Jan 2 17:36:00 5m 00s A Gravekeeper Nice graphics, including the lighting effects and the dungeon collapsing effects. I liked it a lot. The controls are also pretty smooth. Even if you didn't finish the game as you wanted, I can see that a lot of skill was put here, so I hope you work more on this game in the future :-)
Jan 2 17:40:00 4m 00s Santa's Survival Sticking trollface in things don't make them automatically funny :-/
Jan 2 18:12:00 32m 00s Trapped Alone Is it possible to leave the second room? The screenshots in the submission screen lead me to believe that it is, but I can't get out (going out to the right bring me back to the left).
Jan 2 18:13:00 1m 00s Alone on a raid You should make the game on some cross-platform architecture.
Jan 2 18:17:00 4m 00s Lonely Tennis That's an awesome idea! I really wanted to play this one. Unfortunately, I'm getting errors when trying to play it:

java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError: com/rockenez/alone/Board : Unsupported major.minor version 51.0
Jan 2 18:23:00 6m 00s StarDrive This is an amazing game. I really liked that the enemies didn't immediately die, but rather exploded for a second before disappearing. Collecting their weapons was quite fun.

Two suggestions:
- some indication of how close you are to dying
- Some inertia
Jan 2 18:56:00 33m 00s The End The lighting for this game is pretty cool. I also liked that the character and enemies changes expression when attacking. It was a bit confusing in the beginning, the player is too similar to the background, so it took me a while to spot him. Also, it seems the combat is basically getting close to your enemy then clickfest :-/

Amazing timelapse.

Thanks for the game!
Jan 2 19:03:00 7m 00s Move It! 3D is pretty, but I think you could have reduced the window size a bit. I couldn't fit the whole game on my monitor :-(

Looking forward your next LD games.
Jan 2 19:15:00 12m 00s Glibber Alone Not bad at all! I enjoyed playing this. Particles everywhere!

I felt like the Green Tentacle from MM, though. Coincidence? :-P

Some suggestions: The bullets being as fast as your character is a bit weird. Also, the particles are lingering a bit tooo long on the screen.

You should have enemies that shoot too!
Jan 2 19:19:00 4m 00s Alone The windows link takes me to a page in German, where all the links names "download" just open pop-up ads :-(
Jan 2 19:31:00 12m 00s You don't have to be alone Your game won't load, just make my browers super slow.
Jan 2 19:52:00 21m 00s void Very nice puzzle game. I like how you can bounce around walls to give yourself some extra speed. The "normal/danger" music switches were cool also. It is hard, but enjoyably so.

Thanks for the game!
Jan 2 20:05:00 13m 00s Cyber Shield Harsh game, but I like the two play modes. Easy mode seemed harder than impossible mode, TBH.

You should really add some sounds to help with the control feedback. Also, maybe zoom out the view camera a bit more? It was a bit hard to make decisions with the small view angle.
Jan 2 20:43:00 38m 00s For the Love of Life Well, I found the story interesting, but as Shigor said, movement is TOO slow, and the area to explore a bit too big. On the other hand, the big area is actually quite pretty.

Also, when you fall to your death somewhere, you go back to the start, but the game state is not reset, so if you die holding something, you will re-spawn holding that same thing, and this seems to screw some game triggers.
Jan 2 21:01:00 18m 00s The Place The mazes were nice, but the music was a bit grating. The collision glitches were not only with the doors, but sometimes you would stick to walls as well.

Cheers to your first LD :-)
Jan 2 21:12:00 11m 00s Only You Can Save The World Short and Sweet. The graphics were simple but they worked, the controls were pretty smooth.

The parts where you had to rush against platforms was a bit frustrating... also, this game could realy use a jumping sound.

Thanks for the game!
Jan 2 22:27:00 1h 15m Ejected Not bad, the game is pretty fun to play.

The Jetpack doesn't seem to have much of a point... you accelerate part of the level, but that doesn't seem to make a difference.

The aliens could be a bit more varied, maybe moving up and down, and shooting in different directions.

Potatos in space!

Thanks for the game :-)
Jan 2 22:36:00 9m 00s LeaveMeAlone I liked the graphics and the text, but couldn't get very far into the game because the fat bastard wouldn't fit in the corridor to the left from the first room. Any reason not to make it a bit bigger?

Well, at least I found the easter egg :-)
Jan 2 22:49:00 13m 00s Rockstar Wannabe Alone Good concept, but the execution was lacking. One of the main problems were the hitboxes -- I think they were too big - something I would think that I cleared a trash can, but the hit would register. A runner game requires very precise collision implementation, or it will just be too frustrating to play.
Jan 2 23:08:00 19m 00s OUTPOST_NULL In the future, space bases will be organized so that every function of the engineering core will be placed in a separate, identical looking room. This will make engineers run around and get fit while doing their jobs :-P

Nice graphics, but the game felt more like a demo. I was very lost until reading the comments and realizing the "E" key existed -- you need either to give the commands to the players in-game, or provide some feedback when the player just try mashing all the buttons.
Jan 2 23:17:00 9m 00s Punished I feel there was a deep message hidden somewhere here... but I couldn't find it. Maybe next time you should make something that let players feel that their choice matters -- or at least seems to matter.
Jan 2 23:55:00 38m 00s Hyper Alone (Totally not helpless) Awesomesauce! The Hyper mechanic was quite unique and fun to play with. All I can ask for is more levels, with more interesting uses of the features you already have in place - using melee cameras to make invincible cameras (in the end of a very long corridor) Melee thugs to hunt you around, maybe hostages to rescue?

Loved the bonus music in the kitten end!
Jan 3 00:02:00 7m 00s A sub-par adventure Found the debug binary file in the zip... I can't get very far in it, but then again I don't know if this is the finished game.
Jan 3 00:18:00 16m 00s Josh The Fan-Tastic The graphics were very good. I got a bit tired with the long levels and the "josh, just go a little bit further" eventually got boring. But as a platformer, this is a solid game. I liked the difficulty.

Also, is the moon supposed to be seen through the solid blocks?
Jan 3 00:28:00 10m 00s Lone Survivor Well, it is kinda fun. You should leave the commands on the screen all the time, and not just when enter is pressed. Also some kind of death animation for the enemies would be welcome.
Jan 3 00:50:00 22m 00s Dig Dig Dig! Very interesting concept, but there were many problems in the execution:
1- While it was very nice that you included a tutorial screen, the "hand draw" text didn't work at all. I just couldn't read anything.
2- The game's "Installer" unpacked everything in the root folder it was ran, and made a mess of my LD22 folder... why not just zip it all?
3- Every time I wanted to start over, I had to listen to "mumble mumble mumble mumble Alone" for a long while. Subtitles please?
Jan 3 00:59:00 9m 00s Zombie Apocalypse Throwing bricks in the zombie's heads... hell yeah!

The game needs an opening screen with its controls though -- I almost died while figuring out what I had to do.
Jan 3 01:14:00 15m 00s Comatose Your text adventure actually looks pretty good. Nice choice of fonts and background.

That said, there were quite a few bugs, and the game was almost unplayable to me due to them :-( It seems that most of these bugs comes from you treating every action as a room. I can tell that by typing "look" after a common action, and getting the text of that action again. For example, when I was in a place with two doors locked doors north and south from me, if I typed north, I would get "that door is locked". Then typing look would get that same message - I would have to use "back" to return to my previous room.

A more sensible approach would be to have "rooms" as locations with a number of possible actions in them, so you separate walking around from performing those actions.
Jan 3 01:21:00 7m 00s Joe Vs. Loneliness The graphics are rather nice, and the premise of the game is funny. Like someone else said, the infinite jumping makes the game rather easy.

Mashing the buttons left and right tires your hand too quickly -- maybe you should have done a more traditional runner where the running itself is automatic.
Jan 3 01:31:00 10m 00s Underlight Interesting premise, but a bit too much on the unfinished side. It was easy to get yourself stuck by mining the wrong blocks in the beginning. Also, pressing Q didn't seem to do anything with the blocks and the "bridge hotspot".

Thanks for the game anyway!
Jan 3 01:45:00 14m 00s Lighthouse Keeper Very interesting game, and I like the premise very much.

But I was sad to be killed by those paralytic wolves so many times.... :-( Maybe you should add a "punching" or "axe" sprite out of the keeper, so that we know where the punching action is happening (same thing for the wolves).

Oh, your time-lapse is really cool, although you could probably double or triple the frame rate.

Thanks for the game!
Jan 3 02:00:00 15m 00s Rover's Spirit Nice! A bit straightforward for a puzzle game, but you made me interested in the story of the martian prison. A few more notes certainly wouldn't hurt :-)
Jan 3 02:12:00 12m 00s Munching Mammoth Mutant Frog?!! Very neat game and mechanics. I like how the tongue follows your route AND speed. I had a surprising amount of fun here.

You need some "boom" sounds for when the toad swallows a missile.

Also... the citizens of this town must have balls of steel, to walk around a giant mutant toad as calmly as they are :-D
Jan 3 02:32:00 20m 00s W I really liked the graphical style, but the game was kinda buggy - collision with lava on room two would happen when the player was far away from lava -- worse yet, the game would lock, and would resist my attempts at killing it :-(

(windows 32)
Jan 3 02:43:00 11m 00s Gross.. AS IF!! Great and funny game. I enjoyed playing it!

However, it was a bit on the easy side. Some of the problems:

Power ups never disappeared - so you just picked them as you needed them, and saved the others to reload - you should make power ups disappear after a time.

The waves never changed in speed, only in numbers, and the "big excuses" gun can get rid of numbers pretty easily, specially since you can walk inside the excuse to make yourself a protection shield.

But it is a nice, responsible game, thanks!
Jan 3 02:58:00 15m 00s Run Away Nice game, and I like that we can't really control the running direction and the special collectibles. That said, the delay between jumps is too frustrating -- in these "you miss you die" game, controls have to be pretty precise. I gave up on the last part of the first hell level, because I couldn't jump twice in a row due to the jumping delays.
Jan 3 03:10:00 12m 00s Space Rescue Mission Very nice! It was hard, but still felt fun while playing it. I like that you managed to put a mini-game inside your LD entry.

I would probably scrap the aliens part, they aren't really a factor in the game - the hardest part is navigating the planets.

Or you could tweak your world generator to avoid creating those maze of planets - it is a bit strange to see many huge planets hugging each other like that. :-)

Great game anyway!
Jan 3 03:17:00 7m 00s Alone Interesting - the graphics and the light did set a nice mood for the notes. I would have liked a bit more gamey elements, but it was a nice first entry.
Jan 3 03:40:00 23m 00s We Are Alone That's very well done. I loved the concept of having multiple different characters that can literally follow in the footsteps of each other. I also liked that the final scene is different depending on the character you're playing with.

The game was a bit on the easy side, though - you didn't even bother putting in a losing screen ;-)

Great first LD22 entry!
Jan 3 03:42:00 2m 00s Limbus Kitten Couldn't run. Libgcc was missing :-(
Jan 3 03:51:00 9m 00s Summit Very very hard, but I liked it. The minimalist style worked to keep the snowbound mood, and the ambient sounds were great.

I would love a gameplay video with the different endings.
Jan 3 03:53:00 2m 00s Don't Touch Me Well, for one hour, I guess it was well done. I commend you for that! You should have wrote about your full plans at least, though.
Jan 3 04:00:00 7m 00s F_cked The graphics are certainly well done. Here is hoping that you manage to finish your game next LD! :-)
Jan 3 04:15:00 15m 00s Grief I'm of two minds about this game.

On the positive side, the graphics work, and the dynamic of playing the same level multiple times with different abilities is really nice.

On the negative side, the sound effects are strange (the sound effect for time manipulation on level 3 was terrible). Like others mentioned the controls are not really good, and the time manipulation ability of level 3 was really mysterious.

Thanks for the game.
Jan 3 04:21:00 6m 00s Purple is the Best Colour Well, it is pretty unfinished indeed, but I like the idea. One bug: when one of the players dies (no hearts or lives) - his ship still stay on the playing area, but without accepting commands.

One suggestion: on these kinds of competitive 2P games, you should add some ways for one player to get in the other's way - like sending enemies to the opponent's playing area, etc.
Jan 3 04:37:00 16m 00s Vestige Very nice game, and web-based to boot! Now I know what those rebel fighters must have felt on the death star. :-)

You really need some simple sound effects for the shots and explosions to bring this to life, though.
Jan 3 04:49:00 12m 00s Enslaving Davement That was a very solid game for the time limit. The timer (and time rechargers) could certainly be a bit more spaced away.
Jan 3 04:54:00 5m 00s Planet Earth Is Blue Couldn't run or install it for some reason :-(
Jan 3 05:00:00 6m 00s Calculon's Revenge A bit too glitchy -- bosses appearing from nowhere. Events in far away rooms activated by my shooting - oh my!
Jan 3 05:03:00 3m 00s Al One Nice work with the multiplayer code, but you should have included some single player bots as well. I had to play against myself in two computers to run this :-/
Jan 3 05:11:00 8m 00s Dark Forest I liked the gameplay idea and the graphics! I didn't like having to launch the game from scratch when dying. :-(
Jan 3 05:16:00 5m 00s Alone in the universe Very interesting game mechanic, but ATM it is a bit of a pain to control. A suggestion that might make it a little better is to assign different pair of keys for each motor, so we don't have to keep switching among them all the time.
Jan 3 13:01:00 7h 45m Crazy Old Cat Lady You didn't package SDL.dll in your distribution :-( Can't run it.
Jan 3 13:05:00 4m 00s Lonely Weredot Seems an interesting idea, but as others said, we've been trolled, for your "windows" version is for macs...

Since it is unity, why didn't you do a web version of your game?
Jan 3 13:13:00 8m 00s Alone - with robots. Wheee Confetti everywhere! I liked the mechanic of jumping and throwing confetti to jump higher -- different, and still easy enough to perform. The sprites were also nice.

I'm giving you a low score on music. The music is actually great, but since you didn't do it yourself, it kinda goes against the rules :-)

But otherwise thanks for the great game!
Jan 3 13:18:00 5m 00s Stelo That's some very nice music you got there! Hope you manage to go further with your game next LD.
Jan 3 13:23:00 5m 00s Alone in the War Strategy and resource management games are always interesting -- they also often tend to be complicated, so you should add some sort of manual or tutorial to your game.
Jan 3 13:40:00 17m 00s Lucide Solitude Very creepy! I liked the idea of the light radius getting smaller as the time ran out, and the character getting faster. The music also worked very well with the mood.

You lose a few poinst for requiring an installer though :-(

BTW, how about a counter of how many orbs you still have to find?
Jan 3 13:42:00 2m 00s <ENTER NAME HERE> Mediafire is disconnecting on me, so I can't get to download it :-(
Jan 3 14:14:00 32m 00s A Realization (in 13 acts) Wow, this is a very nice game, you should have more ratings!

I loved the sound and the atmosphere. The levels were also the right amount of challenging for me. It was not that short, I think the length was appropriate.

Two suggestions:
1- after the ending animation, I mistakenly pressed a button and skipped the next screen without seeing what was on it - you should make some sort of delay at that last screen. (or maybe define a specific key to leave it).

2- There are breakable and unbreakable blocks. It is a bit hard to differentiate between them - you never know if you are hitting an unbreakable box, or if you just missed the correct position to break that block. Maybe you should add a "failed" sound, so I know that I can't break that particular block.

Thanks for the game!
Jan 3 14:30:00 16m 00s Desolate Human Well, the music is very nice. I think you should add a button to skip the transitions/text... their length was a bit too much for me - I would read all the text then wait for several seconds until it disappeared.

Thanks for the game!
Jan 3 14:37:00 7m 00s ESS: Escape the space station "Dear Astronaut.

When confronted by the orange mattresses of doom, remember that there is a whole frigging platform to your right.

Love, space station administration."

Gratz on completing the LD! You might want to look into adding an intro screen, so that I don't have to restart the process when I win/die. Also, why is the astronaut not centred on the platform?
Jan 3 15:21:00 44m 00s Am I Alone? Very nice. I like that you went to the trouble of adding a death animation to the zombies :-)
Jan 3 15:30:00 9m 00s A Whisperer in Darkness: The Game Interesting concept, but with serious balancing issues.

I had a chuckle at dogs as your life points.

Is killing people good or bad? On one hand, I get a "ouch" sound effect. On another, I get a golden chalice when I kill a person.
Jan 3 15:37:00 7m 00s A Door in the Dark Hmmmm, there seems to be a few glitches. For example, I click on the blue door and nothing happens. Maybe you should make sure that the text is updating correctly on mouse over.

Also, the text with the position of the cursor is distracting.
Jan 3 15:44:00 7m 00s Derpmiffo's rescue mission You put some lipstick on the monster. Lol :-P

Interesting choice to allow only forward movement. There are a few invisible walls in your game, you should check that.

Good luck next LD22!
Jan 3 15:54:00 10m 00s Co-op Alone Heh, I really liked your take on the theme! "Your partner couldn't come". I also liked the idea for the design of the main character - blue on one side, red on the other.

Nice game!

But you shouldn't make the movable blocks identical to the unmovable ones: I pushed them against the wall a few times because of that. Also you should add a reset button somewhere.
Jan 3 16:05:00 11m 00s One-Player Co-op Hard but interesting. I liked the graphics in general, but there was some sort of glitch that was distorting your tiles.
Jan 3 17:21:00 1h 16m The Knock Thanks for suggesting me the game. It was really interesting, and I think you managed to achieve the mood you were aiming for.

I thought the puzzles were a bit on the easy side. I really didn't like the "hint" -- as far as I can tell, there is no way to figure it out from information inside the game alone. The "check the periodic table" tip should probably be IN the game somewhere.

I really liked the sound effects. I think you could have made a few more graphics so that the "hotspots" in the room change after you interact successfully with them.

Nice the game, and see you next LD! :-)
Jan 3 18:00:00 39m 00s Alone with... things! Bowowowowowow! Loved that dog sound :-) The kid looked like he had a bad case of the hiccups, though. :-(

Great idea - you know you're doing right when people reviewing your game ask for more of it, and I certainly would like to play with more objects. It felt extremely fun galloping around in that chair.

The controls are really solid, and the pixel art works, so all in all a great game.

Thanks for the 220 ratings and the nice timelapse :-)
Jan 3 18:30:00 30m 00s TransDimensional Moon Rift So, I could give you detailed feedback. Instead I'll give you this:

- When I fired your game, I was like "wtf is this noise?"
- 5 minutes later I was finding the voice over a bit funny
- After 10 minutes of playing, I was muttering "I want my kittens back" and "more brains!" to myself.

I think we can call this success!

(Oh, some of the items would end up "under" the screen when I was in the same tile as them, and I couldn't pick them up)
Jan 3 18:40:00 10m 00s kuudou I really liked the game. Good controls and sharp graphics. The "Pixel perfect" jumps didn't bother me at all, since dying was quite painless (quickly returned to the start of the small level).

Thanks for rating so many games too!
Jan 3 19:17:00 37m 00s Never Alone Hotline Wonderful little game. I had to play over and over again because I wanted to see all the little variations in the dialogues. I don't have much to say, it was pretty great all around!

I will certainly try your hot chocolate tip for the next LD. Seems to have worked well for you! Also thanks for rating so many games.
Jan 3 19:35:00 18m 00s They Hunger Cool!

J/k :-) Nice game, I really liked the progressive difficulty, and the shadows. The "step" sound was a bit annoying. I managed have only 8 relics left before they got me... careless mistake.

There should be a way, even if limited, to detect relics. I'm afraid missing a relic in the beginning might mean a lot of tedious backtracking near the ending...

Thanks for the game!
Jan 3 20:11:00 36m 00s 5 DAYS Thanks for the game, the music and the views from the windows set the mood very well! Of the 3D games in LD22, this is certainly one of the prettiest.

It would be good if there were more things changing between the days. Maybe messages from the rescuers, or panels with "blinken lightens" with varied messages.

Cheers,
Jan 3 20:27:00 16m 00s Do NOT Hug Me! I won, w00t!

The game was quite fun, even if simple. The different weapons felt interesting to use. The animations somehow were so bad that I actually liked them.

The boss battle was too much of a coin toss, though.

Thanks for rating all those games!
Jan 3 21:26:00 59m 00s You Don't Need To Be Alone A date simulator, that was a nice change (although I didn't find much love in it :'( ) I liked trying to reach the different endings! I think there are only 4, right?

I think some more feedback to your actions would have been nice. I spent days and days talking to the same character in classes, and outwardly nothing changed.

Oh, I found a runtime error while playing: just after trudy invites me to a party on friday, I get a "key error"

Thanks for the game!
Jan 3 21:49:00 23m 00s Last breath That is a gorgeous game!
Jan 3 23:29:00 1h 40m Super Smash Lander Suicide Party, Bro? Totally awesome game! Theme? What theme? High Five!

You totally, totally should do the progressive play stuff. Also, I didn't quite understand the controls... clicking the mouse accelerates? Space does it too? arrows... control the ship? a little bit? or was it wishful thinking of mine?

High five!!!!!
Jan 5 02:33:00 27h 04m Party Quest: Never Go It Alone Lovely game, the start screen and the menus in game make it look very finished and polished! But Why did I have to kill all those kittens? :-(

I found it a bit weird that getting hit by kittens increase your kitten score... is that a feature that got scrapped up in the last minute?

Cheers, and thanks for the game!
Jan 5 20:02:00 17h 29m The Best Of Us Very nice story! I think this game could be much improved by adding an actual losing condition. But still I'm impressed by your effort: 4 games in one + a complete audio story + a lot of rated games! Thanks :-)

One thing -- on chapter 2, it is a bit weird that they are talking about a sign that the player hasn't actually seen yet. It would be nicer if the "control room" sign were moved to the beginning of the level.
