Apr 23 04:01:00 Grow! Thanks for the game!

The nice thing about it is that it was very responsible. I also found it cool that you decided to go with "move with mouse, shot with buttons", when all other similar games usually do it the other way around. Was that a conscious decision?

I think there is no way to lose your game -- when I was at 4 guys, I realized that even when I got hit, nothing ever seemed to happen to me. Also, the experience bar never moved.

Maybe if you add a score to your game, and a losing condition, it would become much more fun, since then you could try to get the highest score before dying.

Cheers!
Apr 23 11:46:00 7h 45m Minor Deities Interesting and very compelling game. I like that you can only use each option once -- it reminds me of the "EyeMaze" games, have you ever seen them?

Here are some constructive criticisms:
1- The game exits when you lose. Since it is so easy to lose the game, there should be a way to quickly restart it. As it is right now, if you lose, you also lose a lot of time launching the game again.

2- Can you make it not use fullscreen? On bigger monitors, the fonts start to get blurry. Also, windowed is always nicer.

3- There doesn't seem to be a lot of indication of what winning/losing intelligence and faith means, and I couldn't see a clear indicator of when the world would survive the various catastrophes.

Because of 1, I didn't make it to the end of the game, but gratz on the effort!
Apr 23 11:58:00 12m 00s Escape From Dungeons I really liked the music, specially since it seems to pick it up when you start to run low on oxygen.

I think the turning speed could be increased a little. Turning around felt a bit sluggish. Or you could add keys for strafing.

Also, a bit of variation on the wall texture would improve the game's feel a lot!

congrats on finishing your game!
Apr 23 12:08:00 10m 00s Removed Thanks for making the game! I was fooled for a while thinking that I could order my guys to shoot at the enemies, but it seems that I can only order them to move, and when they are not moving they shoot. So the idea is to have your units dodge the enemy bullets, right?

The sound effect was not bad at all. It would be interesting to have some mountains that blocked shots.
Apr 23 12:29:00 21m 00s Tiny Island Very well done game. At first I was a bit miffed by the sokoban clone, but the "push blocks into water" mechanics was a nice addition to spice things up. Nice puzzles and graphics.

Music or sound were sorely missed :-) I hope you add them in a future version - a calm music will keep people longer in puzzle games.

It was a nice first LD, thanks for the game!
Apr 23 12:41:00 12m 00s Exciting Electrons That was a very interesting idea. I liked the concept, the sounds and the interface.

But there are some problems that prevent the game from being very fun: It seems that passing to the next level is simply a question of luck -- you excite the electron to the highest level, and hope that it decays to the correct level by itself, generating the light that you need.

Also, I got dozens and dozens of "level complete" message, but the game didn't seem to change at all.

Well, it was a great idea anyway, and I hope you take the time to polish it!
Apr 23 12:53:00 12m 00s Pow! Pow! Pow! That was a very good looking game, thank you! The general idea is also really cute. I found myself immersed in the mood while playing this.

That said, the controls are a bit unresponsive. Timing the jumps with the unminimization is really hard, specially because the item takes a bit of time to pop out even after the "aura" had disappeared.

Thanks for the nice looking game!
Apr 23 13:15:00 22m 00s Tiny Religion That is a very cute game, with an interesting premise. Thanks for making it!

The good:
- I like the idea of text commands
- I loved the graphics
- the game itself is quite innovative.

The bad:
- There is very little feedback. For instance, once the god I had seemed to like houses (he smiled every time I built one), but then he started to kill a lot of people at once, while looking all blue and innocent. I don't know how far I am before the god starts killing people.
- It is really hard to play a text based game without knowing the dictionary. I saw on your screenshots that you could plant trees, but I found no word combination to do that (just an example)
- the game lags a bit when playing sound.
Apr 23 13:26:00 11m 00s Tiny Castles Ah, nice, mindless fun, what is it not to like about that?
Well, it could be a bit less mindless, I just pressed forward and attack for great justice, but it was fun nonetheless.

I really liked the graphics, the sounds were a bit annoying though (but maybe that is why the giant boy was rampaging?)

Thanks for the game!
Apr 23 13:41:00 15m 00s MyLittleWorld I really liked the "walking around the world" effect.

The kittens were a bit blurred, and the rodent would sometimes glitches through the walls when jumping, but it was an interesting game.
Apr 23 13:50:00 9m 00s Tiny Defenders Very fun! It seems that the ants need some experience before they can be upgraded - It would be nice to have an indicator somewhere of which ants are ready to receive an upgrade.

Thanks for the game!
Apr 23 13:56:00 6m 00s tinythumb Hey MME, it is not running in my windows machine :-/ I will try from my linux box tomorrow.
Apr 23 14:04:00 8m 00s Tiny girl Whoa, thanks for asking me to review this game -- it was REALLY fun. The controls are all quite responsive, and the background movement gave a very dynamic feel to the game. I enjoyed it quite a lot.

Two minor quibbles:
- In the starting screen, there is no indication that you must press Z to select "start game". I tried pressing enter, space, control... after about 2 or 3 minutes of a lot of confusion, I pressed Z :-P

- The flower boss, the health bar is quite unnoticeable. Maybe make it stand out a little bit more?

Thanks a lot for the game!
Apr 25 12:32:00 46h 28m Your Little Tale I can't really rate this game, because the host is too slow. How about hosting it on Newgrounds or some other bigger site instead?
Apr 25 12:54:00 22m 00s Battle For Tiny Space - Routing Edition Simple, but interesting game. The two tones of greens are kinda hard to distinguish, and I can imagine that if I were color blind, it would be impossible to play this game. Maybe you should use more than just colors to differentiate the goals?
Apr 25 13:10:00 16m 00s In Delusion That... That was weird. Congratulations on your first game, and that is an interesting take on the theme. I didn't like the sudden shifts in position much -- maybe you should have added some sort of transition between them?
Apr 25 13:17:00 7m 00s Tiny Tale I really really liked the transitions.

But I couldn't do anything in the game. I tried pressing E in front of each house, but nothing happened. Then I got to the church scene, and I couldn't interact with anything :-( Bug somewhere?
Apr 25 13:33:00 16m 00s Leaving the Tiny Earth The game is generally well done, I like the particles, the physics with the falling objects and the trees. But it is kinda boring, maybe because of the lack of sound, or maybe because mining stuff takes too much time.

Also, I think it is very important that the entire game is contained within the game -- even if you want to keep the exact recipes a secret, the keys for using the game (shift for crafting bench, the recipe for the rocket), should be available in the game, not in a separate webpage.

Thanks for the game!
Apr 25 13:45:00 12m 00s Tiny World - Ideas in the Sea of Thought This game has a lot of promise, although it is still incomplete now :-) I look forward for updates!
Apr 25 15:08:00 1h 23m Simini This is such a cute game! I loved it! With a screen that small, you could make it a dockable app for a phone or Gnome or KDE :-)

I couldn't get the skyscrapers to work, though.
Apr 25 15:23:00 15m 00s Civilized Pixel Very cool game. I liked the idea of resources running out, and you having to rebuild the resource buildings. Cool music. for some reason, I could not build the police station, though.
Apr 25 15:29:00 6m 00s Free My World Cool little game, decent graphics and sound... A little bit on the easy side.

But my hand was hurting halfway through :-( maybe you should make a single button for hitting, or maybe accept "hold down" as multiple hits?
Apr 25 15:35:00 6m 00s tiny hostile world Hey, congratulations on finishing your game! I hope next time you have more time to implement cool features to it.

Here are some two very simple suggestions that can make even a game as simple as yours fun to play:
1- A score: make a counter of how long you have survived. This will give people an incentive to keep playing
2- Ramp up the difficulty - make the number of asteroids depend on the time - the more time passes, more asteroids appear on screen.

1+2 (without changing anything else in your game) will make you a game that can be replayed, and has some challenge value.

Cheers!
Apr 26 14:54:00 23h 19m FlyAway! That is an interesting Idea. I like it that you added both in-planet and in-space physics.

That said, there is not much sense of objective in game: How many humans are there in each planet? Did I forget someone? How many humans are there in the universe? If there was a "X/Y" counter of people saved, the game would have a lot more appeal (there would be a goal to aim for!)

Thanks for the game!
Apr 26 15:05:00 11m 00s $ales I Finally Buy My Mulagi! I so Happee!

Lol, awesome game -- I loved the sounds. There is one very big bug, that if you go broke on the road, nothing happens -- ideally, in the beginning of the game, you find something to buy, buy it until you have no more money, then walk around checking the prices everywhere. A game over screen would prevent that.

But thanks for the game!! And the mulagi!
Apr 26 15:17:00 12m 00s Godly Well, It's interesting, and somewhat innovative. I think if you put some more work here, you can have a very unique game. Maybe you can make it that we can choose which tile to place using the scroll wheel? Or maybe make the eaters destroy the world if they stay too long around.

The generators generate power kinda slowly, there is not much point in them right now. Also, you GET power by destroying eaters, so you are never really short in power.

BTW, a simple way to give a "goal" to your game is to simply add a score -- like time alive.

Thanks for the game!
Apr 26 15:25:00 8m 00s Nematode That is a VERY interesting game, I like the concept a lot.

The biggest problem, in my opinion, is that 1-sized worms, and food are identical. So it is very hard to keep track of the worms.

The game would be much easier to understand if worms were somehow different from food. Some ideas: Make the worms bigger than the food, give the worms a black "head", give the worms an outline?
Apr 26 15:44:00 19m 00s The Dream Sequencer I think you overdid yourself a bit. I'm all for artsy games, and the premise is interesting, but the final dialogue carried on for waaaaay to long, and ended up being longer than the game itself.

If you cut the final dialogue a lot, and add somewhat harder puzzles, this game could be quite interesting!

On a side note, maybe you could put the "icons" on top? Rotating with the right mouse button got a bit tiring after a while.
Apr 26 15:59:00 15m 00s Your Tiny World That is a very interesting take on the tower defense theme. I like the freedom, and the terrain building a lot.

Unfortunately there are some bugs with the game: First, and most important, if you reset/restart your game, your money/energy/land values don't reset -- you have to stop and start your game again -- check your "init state" routine.

Also, after the first wave, I got a "the end" screen badly placed and some weird sounds.
Apr 26 16:02:00 3m 00s llams Hmm, this game sometimes will refuse to take any input from me.
Apr 26 16:15:00 13m 00s Shattered Universe Hitboxes are Waaaay to big. Interesting concept.
Apr 26 16:26:00 11m 00s Freedom This game is quite rough, but it was surprisingly fun. I think you have some talent with the level making ideas.

Managed to finish the game.

Some sounds would improve this tenfold.
Apr 26 16:30:00 4m 00s Planet Jay I also get the "could not find the main class". Not only that, the other file in the zipped archive tries to install an add-on in my system. WTF??
Apr 26 17:23:00 53m 00s ZUNZANDA Sonny, I loved your game. It is quite hard, having to reset from the beginning if you die near the last level, but I made it!

The narration is great, and the game is full of polish. The game play is hard, but in a challenging way. I wouldn't add a lot of features, other than a way to begin at half point in the game.

Also, if you could add some subtitles for us ESL'ers, that would be awesome (I missed a bit of dialogue in the opening, not much).

Cheers, and thanks for the game! Stars all around for you!
Apr 26 17:27:00 4m 00s Burning Platform Hey Dr. Soda! Thanks for the game, I really liked the music, and the gameplay/pacing is perfect for a mobile platform.

I though that using the walls was a bit hard - It required a lot of precision to make your friends bounce off the walls correctly. Also, I would change the difficulty curve a bit, make the game start a bit easier.

Cheers!
Apr 26 17:35:00 8m 00s Mozi Life That was a pretty neat game, I liked it a lot! Didn't find it weird at all, and it could even be educative. Kinda reminds me of the interactive encyclopedias of old.

The game seriously begs for music, though. Just a simple, calm tone to complete the mood would have been perfect.

Also, in the second hatching stage, some of the rectangles can be seen.
Apr 26 17:46:00 11m 00s The Plane Walker This game has a lot of depth in its level design. I liked the different enemies, changing weapons, etc.

One thing that was not clear is what to do with the kittens/ponies after you got them. I died when I got my first one because I couldn't drink potions anymore.

Thanks for the game!
Apr 26 17:51:00 5m 00s Triskelion Seems quite fun, but it is not working correctly on FF :-(
Apr 26 18:06:00 15m 00s Audio Land This is awesome :-) I had a lot of fun playing with your audio sound game.

I think it lacks a "clear area" button, although just waving the eraser around kinda does the trick. Also, maybe a "T" junction where one note enter from above/below, and two leave from the sides at the same time?

I'll try to use this to make tunes for the next compo! :-D
Apr 26 18:22:00 16m 00s Ok...Now this is akward! I really like your story games, Pierrec, and this one gave me some laughs, but I also though it was a bit too short. Thanks for the game!

Also, all that your text adventures need to be a "real" game is multiple endings :-)
Apr 27 12:26:00 18h 04m Wild West World It took me a couple tries to get the hang of it but, when I did, it became quite fun! The game is responsive and dynamic. I also really liked the sounds.

It would be nice if there was a way to dodge the bullets, like jumping. Also, the spinning animation made me bit dizzy -- maybe fix the position of the player on the screen?
Apr 27 13:23:00 57m 00s The Good Ship Higgs Boson Although quite simple, this entry has a lot of polish. I like the details on the sprite, like the eyes going up and down during the jump. The level design is also quite clever -- I wanted a few more levels where you influenced the blocks with the gravity.

Thanks for the cool game!
Apr 27 14:08:00 45m 00s Ant Farm Simulator Very interesting game. I felt that the gameplay revolved more around finding paths that the ants could jump to than anything else -- btw, did the ants collide with each other mid jump?

Thanks for the game.
Apr 27 14:24:00 16m 00s Curse Of Grimwood Loved the graphics and the general idea. It was really fun to run around with the small band healing and using the area spells, although getting your allies stuck in corners and having to babysit them out of those was kinda annoying.
A game over screen was sorely missed, but other than that, great game :-)
Apr 27 14:42:00 18m 00s The Lair Cool little game. I really liked the boss fight, and I thought that the keys opening previous rooms was a clever idea.

The controls were a little wonky though - from time to time, it wouldn't recognize a jump or a move, because it was processing another button. Also, the jump could be less
"featherly".

Thanks for the game!
Apr 27 15:02:00 20m 00s The tale of a microwave... Not bad for a first entry. You got a lot of small details right, like a menu screen, an instruction screen, game progression, etc. Hope you can participate in future dares and further refine your game!
Apr 27 15:21:00 19m 00s Just keep dying Interesting idea, but you need more hints to tell people how to die. Other than the zombie, the clone, the gun, the dots, and the hidden mine in the center, there doesn't seem to be other ways.
Apr 27 15:29:00 8m 00s Bottle Leg Pirates For a first effort, this is not bad at all. You have scoring, a title screen, an instructions screen, a game over screen, a well defined theme and gameplay. Now all you need to do is refine all this, and you'll have a great game.

I think that the "pirates in a bottle" really fits the theme well. The enemy pirate ships appearing out of nowhere was a bit weird -- how about if the bottle was pointing up, and the pirate ships fell from the top?

Also, you left some text in Portuguese in your game over screen.

Don't forget to rate other people's entries too!
Apr 27 15:36:00 7m 00s Tiny Floating Island You did this in just one hour? You should have put more time in it, for one hour, this is very good :-) I wonder how far you could have gone in one day!

See you next Ludum dare!
Apr 27 15:50:00 14m 00s Boxed This is a very cool, if hard, puzzle game! I liked how changing one box would affect the other one, and changing between worlds.

One thing that I would change, is that the other would should "freeze", so that we don't have the current world changing because the other world was changed -- this made the game a bit confusing.

Great job, anyway!
Apr 27 16:21:00 31m 00s Hambugaaa I can't seem to play this game :-( There is no executable in the zip.
Apr 27 16:31:00 10m 00s hALWAYS You should have made different paths that could be followed, with different text sequences -- that would have made the game more interesting.
Apr 27 16:40:00 9m 00s TINY LIZARD SWELL WORLD The music is very nice, but I can't see the lizard. Pressing WASD doesn't seem to do anything.
Apr 27 16:53:00 13m 00s Searching for Heaven The karma system is very interesting. The graphics could use some work to give the game a more unified feel, but the puzzles are quite fun.
Apr 27 17:15:00 22m 00s 1 Seed Hey, I liked your game a lot. Just like the warm up, the random trees were interesting. Did you add some of the genome ideas here too?

I found that once you populated one or two planets, you could just harvest the seeds from those, and the game became a bit easier. Maybe you should add extra complications for some of the planets?

I see a lot of potential to extend this game -- good work!
Apr 27 17:37:00 22m 00s Disregard All Humans Awesome game! It is very fun to play, the commands have great response, and the game is quite polished!

I loved seeing the planet getting smaller and smaller. I think it would be more interesting if the buildings and people got smaller together with the planet - the tiny planet with huge buildings was kinda weird :-P

Loved it!
Apr 27 18:06:00 29m 00s Spaceship Planet Merge Great game, Awesome audio! I really like the idea of piling up the fruits to move the planets forwards and backwards. The aliens were really cute!

Maybe you could add a little bit of an interactive intro story, like the aliens finding out about the bombing plant, crashing in one planet/asteroid, and then having the idea of crashing everything together, that might make the whole story more appealing :-)

Thanks for the awesome game!
Apr 28 12:25:00 18h 19m Asteroid Belt Interesting, the idea to navigate the asteroid belt. It took me a while to get used to the "mouse pushes away", and I couldn't quite figure out how to control acceleration, but those obstacles were surmountable.

You need to put a bit more explanation IN the game about what you were supposed to be doing - a small text as the game begin "find your way to the planet", would suffice. As it is right now, I spent quite some time messing with the X asteroid until I figured out it was just for show!
Apr 28 12:32:00 7m 00s Sfrumz! I feel your pain -- I also had many goals for my game that went largely uncompleted.

I noticed that you worked quite hard in your map -- you have seemingly random images for each tile type, and you implemented tile transitions as well. Those looked really wicked -- but maybe next time you should concentrate on some features of your game before moving on to the bells and whistles?

cheers!
Apr 28 13:09:00 37m 00s Tiny World Cardgame Hello!

I loved your tutorial! It makes the game look so much more polished. Of course, card game itself is also quite fun -- If I start thinking after the game how to tweak the deck composition, I guess the game was quite successful :-)

You could maybe make your cards a bit more visible -- maybe putting them on the diagonal? Sometimes I didn't know if I had a mushroom or a mushroom house in my hand.

Cheers, and thanks for the game!
Apr 28 13:17:00 8m 00s Scavenger What, that banana is 100 times bigger than me? Hah, 0 fucks given!

Very nice game. As MadGnome commented, you can keep pressing "up" to have your ant float in the air. But other than that, I liked a lot, and would like to have seen more levels.

BTW, what did you use to generate the music?

Congrats for sticking to the end in the LD!
Apr 28 13:29:00 12m 00s Conquer Pico Worlds Well, that is an interesting and different concept. You still need to tweak the game play a bit -- the game stages are either too easy or frustrating.

One thing that could be interesting was if the unfrozen aliens tried to actively free the frozen ones.

Thanks for the game!
Apr 28 14:01:00 32m 00s Tiny World God Very very interesting! It is a bit hard to get things set up, but I like what you did here. Maybe you should add small numbers hovering over each planet as a reminder of the life/etc levels?

Also, a tool tip for each of the god's powers would be awesome!
Apr 28 14:50:00 49m 00s Save Your Planet! For a first game, this is pretty neat. The controls are very good and the game is well fleshed out.

Only two suggestions: The game is a tad on the easy side, and maybe using a cannon instead of a giant man would look better :-)
Apr 28 15:15:00 25m 00s Quest For Matter A 3D running game, this is quite an unique idea for LD23, I liked it! Bonus points for multi-platform.

The game still feels a bit incomplete, some suggestions to improve it:

When the player moves up/down/left/right, you could have the stars in the background move very slowly, to improve the feeling of movement.

Maybe put the camera a tad behind and above the player, instead of straight behind, so we can have a better idea of the actual distance to the objects?

Thanks for the game!
Apr 28 15:33:00 18m 00s esCape Very interesting take on the theme!

I couldn't make it very far, because I didn't know how to connect to the internet... entering the server's ftp on the ftp server returned connection error :-(
Apr 28 16:01:00 28m 00s Atomic Galaxy Factory Very interesting action/puzzle game. It is interesting to try and slowly expand your little defended area of the galaxy while expanding your positives and negative forces.

It would be really nice if the size of the cells expanded as their complexity did (so a city would be larger than an animal, an animal larger than a cell, etc). Not sure how well this could integrate with the game.

Also, if you upgraded past the level of a item that you already had in the world, it would become impossible to get rid of it -- maybe add a "destruct" button?

Thanks for the great game!
Apr 28 16:12:00 11m 00s Tiny World Peace Very cool little idea. I don't think I have seen this kind of game before. Congrats on the originality!

With a bit more polish, this game could be even better. First I think that the defender's movement could be a bit faster. Also, the homing missiles could appear only later in the game, because they are very hard to deflect (specially because they re-home after a while).

The galaxy graphic in the middle is kinda distracting -- maybe you could add some transparency in it, to make it stand out less?

Thanks for the awesome game!
Apr 28 16:43:00 31m 00s Affinity World I really liked the art style of the game, even if it is rather simple :-) It would be nice if the dead ends were a bit longer.

Thanks for the game!
Apr 28 16:51:00 8m 00s Tiny God Fireworks! So pretty! :-D

Very fun game. You should add some SFX for the explosions.

Cheers!
Apr 28 17:09:00 18m 00s The Pioneer Wow, this is a very charming game. I loved the random level generation. The game has a very polished and consistent look - even if you say there is a darth of content, the random generation more than make up for it.

Thanks for the awesome game!
Apr 29 13:49:00 20h 40m [Darkness Creeping] The possession mechanics was quite interesting, and I liked the wobbling and falling effects, although I thought they could be toned down a little bit.

I was a bit disappointed that picking up the light object didn't make the screen brighter :-)

Thanks for the game.
Apr 29 14:02:00 13m 00s Equanimity The game looks really funky, and the sound is nice too, but I was a bit lost about whether what I was doing had any sense or not. I just circled the ship around the edge of the screen, while shooting towards the middle, and that seemed enough to get me going until I got tired of the game.

Maybe you should ramp up the difficulty a bit over time, but also at the same time increase the responsiveness of the player, by reducing the inertia?

Cool looking game, anyway.
Apr 29 14:23:00 21m 00s Pixels World Pretty solid game, in spite of the simple art for the sprites, I really like what you did with the level design (mario! :-P), and the background floating images.

The controls were pretty good, and generally the game was fun - it could have featured a few more difficult jumps, but the overall difficulty was nice.

Thanks for the game!
Apr 29 14:31:00 8m 00s a SMALL problem Cute game. The difficulty was the right ammount of challenging, although the "rat on spikes" jump was a bit counter intuitive (you needed to be facing back for the rat to propel you forward -- what?).

When you get to the end of the game, you will be holding "forward", and this will make you leave the end screen automatically - I could not read what was written there.

Thanks for the game!
Apr 29 14:45:00 14m 00s Endless Siege Interesting game. However, it is a bit hard to get into the game.

First of all, the game needs some feedback to let the player know what is going on: for example, a health bar so that we know how far the hero is from dying, health bars to the buildings and monsters as well. Some sound for monster and hero hits would help a lot too!

Also, the monster corpses, while a nice idea, are getting drawn above the hero - a simple way to solve this is to call your "render hero" routine AFTER your "render monsters" routine.

I liked the "you die" game over screen a lot.

Good first effort! Hope to see you again next LD!
Apr 29 14:55:00 10m 00s A Bathtub Story This game has a lot of charm. It is so cute... and so deadly! I couldn't beat any of the stages past 8. Very nice idea to allow us to jump to any stage. Also quite polished.

Thanks for the game!
Apr 29 15:04:00 9m 00s Astrosurf Heh, neat game.

On the web version, when I right click to throw a vine, the context menu also pops up, which is kinda annoying.

Hmmm, something that would be very interesting, in keeping with the "killing people to move" theme, would be to keep the population the same from level to level -- so that you don't recover population when you go to the next level!

Then you could have different endings based on your remaining final population.

Thanks for the game!
Apr 29 15:17:00 13m 00s Gravity Force 3 Awesome game, very addictive. I kept trying and trying to beat my score, best I got was 22900ish.

I liked the small things that you added to the game, such as the fact that if you charge for a long time, your ship's rotation start to slow down.

Great game!
Apr 29 15:27:00 10m 00s Fort in the Woods I really really like the idea of this game: prepare your fort, and then let the combat run automatically. It was a bit easy, maybe you should have more enemies attack more often. Also, it should be possible to speed up combat for those bigger fights. But all in all, I liked this game.
Apr 29 15:49:00 22m 00s Tiny Contamination, well almost Very cute game, and quite fun as well!

Sometimes though, I seem to lose a life out of nowhere :-( Also, some levels start with the enemy right near me. But I kept on playing :-)

Ah, I'm not sure that you are allowed to use music from freesound.org. I think the rules say that all music must be made from scratch :-/
Apr 29 16:01:00 12m 00s ToastBiome I can't download the game :-(
Apr 29 16:15:00 14m 00s Quaternion Nightmare It was quite fun to go around collecting the gems. The game handled quite well.

Sometimes I felt a bit lost -- it would be nice to have some sort of response to know if I'm close to a gem or not -- maybe some sort of "hot or cold" dynamics? Also, some way to know whether the slimes are close behind me (some sounds?) would be cool too.

Cheers!
Apr 29 16:25:00 10m 00s Little Mischief Makers The sound, the game idea, the sprite, this game has a general feel of smugness on it that is very proper of a little guy wanting to cause trouble.

That said, whoever has 12 keys spread through the house should be expecting some trouble :-)

I really liked the game, and I loved the idea of the hidden flamethrower (which I didn't find my first time around). The only complaint that I have is that the player is a bit too bouncy, which makes him hard to control. But other than that, great game!
Apr 29 16:39:00 14m 00s Toad Warrior Awesome graphics, and I liked the controls a lot too. The game itself is a bit too difficult - I couldn't for the life of me get up even to that first crystal :-/

Also, if you miscalculate the jump, you can get stuck in a mushroom for a long while.

Still, it is quite fun to just jump the guy around - he seems so happy in his toad :-D
Apr 29 16:51:00 12m 00s When Worlds Collide "boom" "boom" "boom" is sorely missed in this game :-D Otherwise, it is quite fun to launch asteroids at the planet and see what happens :-) The stars in the background and the 100% animation are very nice touches.
May 3 01:35:00 80h 44m Celluloid Combat! Hmmmmm. Reading your post-mortem, it seems that your pre-compo engine does most of the heavy lifting in your game (collisions, inertia, animations, debugging, etc). In that case, you need to release it before the compo starts to be within the rules.

The game was cool -- I think the spaceship should be a bit smaller - at its current size, it contrasts too much with the other sprites in the screen. The lasers and missiles were a nice touch, as well as the progression of difficulty.

It would be nice if the ship turned around a bit faster.
May 3 01:45:00 10m 00s snowglobe It is a very interesting idea -- I really like "world simulation" games, and it is very interesting to watch the little globe inside the snow globe develop.

That said, there seems to be very little to be done in this case - all that shaking the globe does is to destroy the trees, right? It doesn't seem to influence the little men or animals inside.

I think with a few more interactions, this game could be really fun! Keep up the good work :-)
May 3 02:48:00 1h 03m spectrumTrap I'm all for "artsy" games, but I'm not just feeling this quite yet.

You could improve it vastly by making it interactive: for instance, the beat could be tied to the player hitting the boundaries. Or maybe when the player touches the colored dots, they change colors, or move or something. Or maybe the dots could follow the players... I don't know, just throwing some ideas.

So yeah, make more interactions! Good luck next LD!

(Oh yeah, and like the two previous commenters said, source please :-))
May 3 03:08:00 20m 00s Earth Is Dying! Very creative game. I like the premise a lot. As you said in your post-mortem, there is a lot of balancing to be done, but I think the game is already somewhat fun.

Here are a few suggestions to make your game more awesome
1- Show some sort of preset high score, so we can have some idea of how well we did

2- Decouple the death of the earth from the number of resources -- have the earth obey similar resource growth/reduction rules as the other planets, but also add a fixed timer for earth death

3- make the game a little slower paced (also reducing the rate of growth of other planets) - I think if the game lasted about 5-6 minutes instead of the current 2/3, it would allow us to try different tactics.

Cheers, and thanks for the unique game!

(PS: my highest score was around 24.000 btw)
(PPS: Also what jjwolf said!)
May 3 12:26:00 9h 18m Colours in the Void Frustratingly difficulty, but I loved the game. The idea of the colour shooter is terribly innovative, and the three levels are interesting. The entire game, including the level selection screen, has a very palpable "feel"

Only two complaints about the game: The music started to get on my nerves after a while, and it could do with a better tie-in to the theme.

Thanks for the game!
May 3 12:31:00 5m 00s A Flying Shame Not bad! The high score gives something for us to aim to, and the game re-starts quite quickly, which is something that cannot be said of most entries.

I feel that the hit boxes could be a bit smaller, or somehow more evident - specially in the case of lamps, many times I died without being quite sure what had killed me.

also, some animation for the fly would be much appreciated!
May 3 12:44:00 13m 00s Disastronaut Oh no! I wiped out the human race!

Very nice little game, although a bit on the easy side. But I really like the idea of assembling the ship from the broken pieces.

One thing that bugged me a bit is that every time you picked up a fuel can, your fuel was set to a given value, and not added to the current fuel -- once I was at 1800 fuel, and by picking a fuel can, I got down to 1100. While there was enough fuel for the entire game, it still bummed me a little.

Also, awesome music!
May 3 12:52:00 8m 00s T-Pod As you said, there is nothing very innovative ... but this is a very solid game! The controls are good, it is challenging, but not infuriating, music and sounds are appropriate. I also liked that the planet dying and the player dying are separate events.

Some suggestions:
* auto-fire by just holding X, for the sake of our wrists
* A "high score" under the current score

I quite enjoyed playing it, thanks for the game!
May 3 13:06:00 14m 00s Inlander The premise of the game is interesting. The controls are smooth, I specially liked the transition to the crafting menu by sending the mouse to the right hand side.

That said, as others mentioned, the world is a bit too huge, which, given the time for rating and playing games in LD, makes it a bit off putting -- things need to happen a bit faster :-) The two mouse cursors is a bit strange - maybe instead of a mouse cursor, you should have used a square silhouette to indicate the action square?

Thanks for the game anyway!
May 3 13:21:00 15m 00s Me, Buck & Tina Hmmm. The game seems interesting, but it seems that many times it triggers the end sequence before all the events took place, which results in the ending not having much meaning... maybe you could put up a post with the correct sequence? I never know if this was really the end or if I messed something up.

Cheers.
May 3 13:42:00 21m 00s Walker Very cool game! I liked how you played with the idea of everyday signs to introduce game mechanics.

The movement was a bit sticky though -- for example, when I was in the "90" signals, I could not jump - and sometimes while waking jump would get stuck. But great game!
May 3 13:48:00 6m 00s All That Are Lost Will Be Found Cool platformer, but the physics were a bit wonky -- I was not sure if the cube could double jump, shinobi jump wall against wall, or just scale one wall spiderman style. Sometimes while on air I would press to one side and the cube would move to the other one, huh.

That said, I really liked the "shine light on your enemies to keep them at bay" mechanics, and the ending screen is very satisfying as well.

Good game!
May 7 12:57:00 95h 09m It's a Tiny Life... That is a very creative interpretation of the theme, thanks for the effort! You should take the time to refine what you have a little bit more. For example, in the end of the game, we don't know what to do anymore -- you should add a "press esc to exit" text or something like that!

I don't think I found any of the easter eggs :-(

See you next ludum dare!
May 7 13:08:00 11m 00s The return of The Lost Viking vs Tiny Predator IIX Hmmmm, it was interesting that you decided to make a continuation of your LD22 game, but I think you might have left some leftover code: the pause screen reads "the game is paused, but you are still alone".

I really liked the dynamic with the enemies accelerating when you shoot them. The predator fight was good as well. The enemies were ... hotdogs? :-) Also, good work on the auto-generated maps.

There was a small bug that sometimes you would enter a new room, and the enemy already spawned on top of you.

It would be nice if your old game was still up for continuity sake, and so that we could compared how you improved! :-D

Cheers!
May 7 14:50:00 1h 42m Mineral Cities I really, really liked the audio. I think it went very well with the game, the graphic, and its mood. The idea of "renewing cycles" also gives an interesting dynamic to the game.

It was not very clear to me if each mineral patch could be collected many times, or only one.
May 7 15:39:00 49m 00s Defender Not a bad game, very simple, but gets the job done. Maybe you could add some speed to the movement of the ship (currently it is instantaneous), to add a bit more complexity to the game.
May 7 18:16:00 2h 37m Away from Home Very interesting game, with quite some depth. I liked how you played with the music in the different game modes. The idea of messing with the worlds was really cool too.

The game could have used some sort of indicator to show how many parts you had already collected.

Cheers, and thanks for the game!
May 8 15:29:00 21h 13m Urth Defense Very nice little game. I liked that when you died you were thrown right back into the action. Maybe the missiles could have been made a litte bit bigger, or the ship a bit smaller? Oh, and the claustrophobic feel really adds to the mood.

One important point though: You cannot use music made with wolfram tunes. Their terms of use prohibits the distribution of content generated by the site. Yeah, it sucks:

"You may not modify, copy, distribute, transmit, display, perform, reproduce, publish, license, create derivative works from, transfer, or sell any information or content obtained from this Site"

Cheers!
May 8 15:39:00 10m 00s Save the World Very good controls! At first I was like "oh no, not another cannon around the tiny world", but when the earth started moving! Having to control the earth's movement while shooting the enemies in this way gave a very nice twist to an otherwise beaten-to-death theme in this LD.

One thing that would improve your game immensely is the addition of some sort of score. Also, some sort of indication of how many "lifes" you have would be nice too, but less important. Maybe the "boom" sound gets louder as you get closer to dying?

Cheers!
May 8 15:49:00 10m 00s Deity Interesting puzzle game, although levels with only the glue are kinda boring. Managing the walls is interesting, but a pair of walls makes all levels solvable with only one bomb.

Maybe you should add some slopes/drops, so that one puzzle would be to scare the blue guys into these holes?

What did you use to make the music? :-)

Thanks for the game.
May 8 15:50:00 1m 00s The Lost Isles 404 :-(
May 8 15:59:00 9m 00s Dangerous Baby World The idea is very good, and this is a great use of the theme, but the controls are just too frustrating for the game to be really fun - you should change the "press up quickly", to a rechargeable walk bar or something. I had to take my mouse hand off my mouse so I could tap up fast enough for the baby to stand, and then it would just lose its balance again.

But cheers for the great idea! You nailed the theme.
May 8 16:14:00 15m 00s Baby Farm I... hmmm.

I think....

Hmmmm, I mean.

I'm at a loss for words.

Whoa. I guess I'm done rating for tonight!
May 8 16:22:00 8m 00s Zilla the Destroyer Very cool game, I liked where you went with the graphics. The controls were a bit hard to get used to, but not that bad once you got the hang of it.

It would be cool if we could destroy buildings/trees by stomping on them, in addition to blowing fire on them.

Also, when you die, your score is not reset.
May 8 16:32:00 10m 00s Petri-Dish Survival The music is nice, and I really liked the second puzzle. The third puzzle, with the protein lost in the middle of nowhere, was a bit annoying.

Thanks for the game!
May 13 00:55:00 104h 23m Bottlecolonies A very cool game -- I liked the puzzle and its rules, and the music and graphics go well together for a very nice environment.

One thing that would improve the game (you probably already did it in the post-compo) is a "shadow" to show where a tile will fall - this is specially important for 2-tiles parks.

Thanks for the game!
May 13 01:04:00 9m 00s Little Sheep I really liked the sound effects, and the graphics are not bad either. The minimalistic planet + the spooky music made me expect something sinister to be going on in the background :-) Controls were nice too.

That said, for a "story" game, it feels a bit short in content -- suddently "your journey ends here!". Also, there are a few bugs in the script - the rabbit on the third planet told me he was not coming, but then he showed up in the sheep planet. Uh, ok.
May 13 01:21:00 17m 00s My Little Planetoid This is very nice, I enjoyed playing it a lot!

A few comments:
- When I tried to place my fourth farm (after I was phasing out factories to get more people), the game wouldn't let me, even if I had enough minerals -- is there a hard limit for the number of any certain buildings?

- Sometimes trying to click on build buttons would spin the planet around :-P That was a bit annoying.

- I would be cool if the build buttons were stateful.

Other than that, awesome game! I look forwards to seeing what else you will implement in this game :-)
May 13 01:24:00 3m 00s Flight of the Ladybug Very nice little game, I liked it a lot. It is fun to play, and quick to get into. Loved the small graphic tricks you did, like the transition from game over to new game.

A few things you could make to improve the game: Add some background! Maybe some leaves, some animal cameos -- maybe if you make a huge tree model and make the "track" go around it -- would make a big difference to the game.

Cheers, and thanks for the game!
May 13 01:40:00 16m 00s Microscopia Awesome.

Super cool puzzle game. I loved the very unique idea, the execution, and trying to solve the puzzle was quite interesting.

Two suggestions:
1- There should be a "reset level" button.
2- There is a bug, that if you go all the way to the goal while the screen is still fading in, you will get stuck: Try it on the first level!

Cheers, and thanks for the great game.
May 13 01:53:00 13m 00s Prince of Leaves Awesome game! I find myself singing along with the song towards the end (Stockholm Syndrome?).

You should totally have added that game over screen you mention in your journal.

About the level design, I didn't like the "you just fit in" stairs very much: even if there is no game penalty for it, it feels kinda bad hitting your character's head each step of the way down :-P

Great game!
May 13 02:07:00 14m 00s Mini-Worlds and Monocles So I was like - "ok, this game has annoying sounds, but I like the gameplay. The graphs are not bad. I would have stopped playing by now, but they implemented unlockable bonus, so let's stick to the end to see that"

And then I got the unlockable bonus - please give me those 5 minutes you stole from my life, you bastard! :-P

Lol, nice game, nonetheless :-)
May 13 02:27:00 20m 00s Tinysasters Awesome game. Feels very polished - specially details such as raising the action tile. The gameplay idea is also really original.

The only thing that feels a bit weird is that when you spend mana to create a certain kind of tile, you are actually creating more of the original tile instead - so you can spend "mountain" mana to create lakes by creating a mountain at a lake.

Awesome game!
May 13 02:40:00 13m 00s Kumiho Awesome little shooter. Very beautiful, and the commands respond well. It was fun to play also.

Could have done with a better tie-in to the theme, but the game was amazing anyway.
