Very nice sprites and graphics!
There were quite a few bugs left (that I could see immediately: problems with collision of shots with enemies, of the player with spikes, commands screen taking to the game).
But for a game done in half the LD time (!!) I think it was quite well done.
Agreed, a little too buggy to get into (monsters spawning non-stop being the biggest thing obstructing me). Thanks for the heads up about Construct 2, though - will check it out!
I have to admit, I'd love to retweak it and probably will once judging has finished for LD, The enemies were added at the very end for me, so unfortunately they had the least amount of balancing. I also didn't have much time left to work on the falling block platforms. It feels very rushed (which it was) so I may go in and make it into what I had in mind from the beginning. Next LD I know to take more time building the engine first and worry about the sprites and sounds (I want some!) closer to the end of the time limit...
by the way, I have managed to beat the game (get all 3 keys for a sad win screen lol) but only ONCE!

The core mechanics work well. With the addition of audio and some tweaking, you'll have a nice little game on your hands.
Why thank you! I'm considering expanding it to the full concept I'd originally plotted out.

Key layout is quite bad. Pressing shift multiple times causes windows to suggest key-locking.
The graphics are nice. It ran quite laggy on my machine. Without the bugs this qould make a good game as the jumping works quite fine.
ah, I did forget about key-locking, as I have had it disabled from day 1, that's a good point for me to remember. As for being laggy, what browser did you use and does it have webGL enabled?
