LD45 — Start with nothing

Slay the Dungeon by jharler 2019-10-08T19:11:59Z

Actually played this game for way too long haha. I feel like permanent upgrades were an auto pick over current room ones. If the current room ones were less stat modifiers and more like room modifiers like spawn bombs randomly or summon minions to help you and stuff like that, it would be great. I'd actually really love to see this developed into a full game, would be a purchase from me on steam with a bit of polish!

Also holy fuck that demon bomb animation + sound effect rofl, that got me.

Inky escape by egos 2019-10-07T22:37:25Z

Quite fun! It gets hard real fast, smoothing out the difficulty curve would get people playing longer I think. The idea behind the game is great though, great job.

Baby steps by freso 2019-10-08T18:53:23Z

Very polished little game. Your ideas for the dummy being a big-mario style extra health is awesome. Unique art style which really lends to the aesthetic of the game, great job!

Ammodillo by Jeremy Ryan 2019-10-08T18:25:42Z

Insanely good, I love the take on the theme you did! Could very well see this becoming a published game.

Vicious Cycle by ryzy27 2019-10-12T19:52:51Z

I admit I may have spent too long deciphering the language too haha, great game.

Start with "nothing" by sommerlilie 2019-10-08T18:35:20Z

Reminds me of doodle god games with experimenting, I couldn't tell how far I actually got but it's really fun, I love games like this

Totally Tiny Towny by Finnhax 2019-10-08T18:18:38Z

Seems like you have a great start on something. It could just use more content and polish really.

Also for any other readers, click the sheep.

Noth INC. by Dongle 2019-10-08T18:48:33Z

Hmm, I love the idea of upgrading enemies, it gives a sense of risk vs reward. I'll admit it does get to a point where you're just purchasing ammo when you get low every 5 seconds but more upgrades and interactivity on the screen would help that a bunch. I love the art, it's so adorable, great job, guys

Let's Run a Kingdom by SuperGamersGames 2019-10-07T22:50:02Z

Love the art, it's cute and welcoming. The game is a little tough to get going but it has some decent management systems in, especially for 72 hours! Great job.

Let's Run a Kingdom by SuperGamersGames 2019-10-07T23:04:54Z

@supergamersgames D: Sad to hear about the illness, you've done great anyway!

From Nothing by arkinrev 2019-10-08T18:40:20Z

Seems like you have the basis of a good top down hack and slash. I actually like it being physics based. I'd put the scythe a little earlier in the game or make the level more linear up to that point because you can just get lost without finding it. Other than that, extend this!

From Nothing by arkinrev 2019-10-08T18:50:11Z

@arkinrev Ah yeah the enemies dying to firepits was overlooked by me haha! You could try setting up levels so that the player accidentally does it a few times, it's all about level design!

Gloominate by Darth Mediocrity 2019-10-08T19:00:12Z

Good stuff, I like the take on the theme, maybe it could be extending past mazes?

Palette of the World by Black Flag 2019-10-08T18:55:40Z

itch.io link isn't working :(

Palette of the World by Black Flag 2019-10-08T19:01:21Z

@black-flag says it couldn't find the page, have you set your game to public and published it? :)

Palette of the World by Black Flag 2019-10-08T19:29:19Z

@black-flag I can play! The resolution of the window is messed up on the site but fullscreen fixes it. I love that you (or whoever) voice acted, I'm not sure if it broke or you could only get so much in but it really added to the game! The Portal 2-esque idea you have is great and you've already started building on it. I noticed a lot of problems with general Unity physics stuff and jumping like sticking to walls and such but this is a pretty good start to something.

Cubehead by BntRpnw 2019-10-08T18:05:47Z

Could just use more, but the game looks clean, it looks like you have the start of something. Also I recommend putting all the controls on the same line, good job - definitely continue.

Cipher by TaqoShaq 2019-10-07T22:42:52Z

Awesome idea, I struggled with understanding the first few levels but once I got into it, it just clicked. You have an insane level of polish here, would make a great little idle game, well done!

Alone by Becher 2019-10-08T19:18:43Z

LOVE this, reminds me of Forager and I loved that game. Adorable pixel art and really intuitive UI. Would be nice to see your current stores of items though. Great job!

Nature Garden by redmountainman1 2019-10-07T22:57:40Z

Finished it! :D It needs some balance the rain is a little op haha but it's a great start to something, the pixel art is great too, good job.

Leverage by BilalCh213 2019-10-12T20:00:51Z

Really cool idea for the theme, thank god you included a minimap, I don't think I can give much other feedback than what has already been said by others, great job.

Escape The Pit by Caesura 2019-10-07T23:09:01Z

I actually really like this idea, it feels like one of those old flash games you'd play and get addicted to with friends haha, definitely could be expanded with some art and some level design would go a long way!

Sandbox CTF by Honey Pony 2019-10-12T19:55:45Z

The amount of work required to get this up must've been insane, great job.

DREAMS by Ferdi 2019-10-08T19:24:52Z

Interesting, some chill music would really set the atmosphere. Also some guy called Ferdi was throwing shit at me :(

Nothing About Stage by nikita-lozhkin 2019-10-08T18:23:45Z

I don't agree with people saying this is luck based, I think there's actually a deep puzzle solving element to it which you could definitely expand on.

I'm not sure if it's a bug but I was able to pass under the pillars that kill you just by hammering a direction.

Either way, nice work.

Get A Job, Baby! by XeduR 2019-10-07T23:12:42Z

Damn the gameplay of this is actually awesome, it has so much replayability. A few art assets and this is a nice little game!

Get A Job, Baby! by XeduR 2019-10-07T23:28:04Z

@xedur in my opinion you actually have something pretty neat here it definitely has the potential to take off.

PUMP by mmatt_ugh 2019-10-08T18:13:26Z

Insanely good dude, I'm amazed at the level of responsiveness. Legit would actually play this as a little story based game. The only thing that's missing from this entry is the Theme (and tbh I kinda disliked the theme so I don't blame you) Excellent job.

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

CrystalsTD by Blist 2021-04-27T10:47:20Z

Awesome! I didn't get the bug/lag that other people are talking about but I did find out that if you don't click the "go to next floor" button, you can upgrade and build without spending. Breaks the balance but it makes for really fun enemy blasting haha.

Dungeonfall by CruelMotivator 2021-04-27T14:04:45Z

Really fun, great feedback on destroying things, I just need more light!

Dome Romantik by Rongo Matane 2021-04-27T12:25:30Z

Man I love this game, incredible art style with a great palette and the atmosphere you achieved with so little is great. Game mechanics are simple yet all work with each other, great game.

FishyFish by PSiv 2021-04-27T22:54:31Z

There are no more fish in the sea! Addictive game, I eventually became bigger than the ocean and got the crown.

In Search of Paradise by Magnanix 2021-04-27T18:10:22Z

I get an error when killing the transparent lady :(

ABYSSN'T by Diotins 2021-04-27T11:17:49Z

Damn, got the highest score and then someone beat me by 200 as I did hahah. Fun little game, visuals and audio are great!

Lure of the Yamabiko by Nick Howard 2021-04-27T11:05:45Z

Played this way more than I intended haha, it's such an addictive format and the music's so banging. Only problem I had was the upgrades, sometimes I had the same upgrade with a different icon and price so it's hard to tell exactly what the difference was. Great entry to LD though, good job.

Kira's Flower Delivery by peterfiftyfour 2021-04-27T12:10:10Z

What an ambitious take on the theme, I've gotta appreciate it. It's kind of hard to get to grips with what to do even with the makeshift tutorials but maybe it's just not clicking for me haha. The music and art are great, good job.

The Void by BorderDestroyer 2021-04-27T22:05:44Z

Awesome, need some checkpoints.

Sloopy the Microkiller by SandCastlesStudio 2021-04-27T12:05:18Z

Awesome take on the theme and really tight game design with awesome pixel art, great job guys.

LD51 — Every 10 seconds

ShortDay Survive by rayriver 2022-10-08T10:34:51Z

Awesome job, this is a fun little game!

Tiny Jukebox by bobo_oh 2022-10-04T11:24:30Z

Wow, for how ambitious the plan was for this game you did incredible. For one person too! The tracks are awesome and feel great to play, well done with this.

Also thank you for being generous with hitting notes

A Simple Job by kavehes 2022-10-04T16:50:16Z

Like others have said here I'm sad I can't play it but I have to give you 5 stars for art, you've done an incredible job with the 1bit palette.

I'm inexperienced with playdate but forgive the silly question - is it feasible to port it to PC at all?

Time Loop Traffic by _for_science 2022-10-04T19:17:57Z

This is legit fun. It didn't click at first what was happening but it gets really cool trying to dodge your past ghosts and the controls are so tight too. I'd love if this was fleshed out.

10 seconds from hell by Simone 2022-10-04T14:10:56Z

I think having the camera rotate with where you're looking could be fun and making the enemies white transparent. Good job on your first jam though, you guys did great! The game's responsive and plays well.

Demons, bullets and new rules by Bugord 2022-10-04T14:28:02Z

Really fun and you have some amazing art and music, really nailed the aesthetic of it. I love that the modifiers don't care about whether or not it makes the game harder or easier, it only cares that the game is more fun  great job!

ZombieGrade by Jejkobb 2022-10-05T08:36:54Z

Oh man this is addictive, I was expecting waves of enemies to spawn every 10 seconds but then having upgrades every 10 seconds is so much more fun. I'd love to have like a kill feed or kills per second meter, something to tell me how well I'm doing would be a great addition. Awesome first entry for you in LD and welcome to the community

RandoBots by Brusi 2022-10-04T18:44:03Z

This is awesome! The AI was definitely impressive and the controls feel so good to play with. Really innovative use of the theme too, great job.

MMO Minesweeper by Lex 2022-10-04T13:40:47Z

Oh man I love minesweeper so this was a treat! I can't believe you made this in the compo, seriously well done

[WebGL/HTML5] Music Demon by leorid 2022-10-04T17:17:26Z

Such a hilarious use of the theme, very innovative and the game plays great as well, nice job. \m/

Carton Carrier by dimlight 2022-10-05T09:55:35Z

Really fun with a unique idea, could and should definitely carry this on to a full game!

UAO?P by Raivk 2022-10-04T17:07:00Z

Oh man, I feel like you've got the setup for something real cool here. The art, animations, menus, effects, humour and polish are all really good, it just needs more game. Honestly really good creation for 72 hours you've done really well.

Disaster Outbreak by MrScythe 2022-10-04T11:20:28Z

You did a fantastic job with this, feels really fleshed out for an LD game.

Warrior, Wizard Rogue by TheseusInABottle 2022-10-04T19:09:59Z

10/10 for music alone. But really with a bit of polish and some more content this could be really fun! Great job

Frogwatch by Gunnbju 2022-10-04T16:56:28Z

Cute little game! I love the art and the music, the movement felt a little sticky sometimes but hardly anything to complain about.

Also.. the witch walls with the music is terrifying..

Ticktock Tactics by Cral 2022-10-04T16:46:43Z

@kavehes Hit the nail on the head with the problems that the time resource introduces, it's something we noticed too, good brain!

@ everyone else - thank you for the very kind comments

Ticktock Tactics by Cral 2022-10-08T16:55:15Z

@pixelydian Yes, all the art, SFX and music was made by us in the 72 hours  Thanks a lot for the kind words

Homerun for your life! by ChevalBancal 2022-10-04T10:52:19Z

Fun little game! The dual screen reminds me of playing on a DS and you did a great job of utilising both screens

Poda Wants a Statue by Doot 2022-10-04T10:40:05Z

Such an adorable little game and you had a great take on the theme. Surprisingly polished for the jam too, congrats!

Wordy McWordface by mypalmike 2022-10-04T18:58:47Z

Unique idea!

DecaDare by Caladrius 2022-10-04T20:02:32Z

The art is very charming and the game is ambitious for a LD but I think you pulled it off pretty well, good job.

Roadeo by Krzyhau 2022-10-04T19:05:04Z

So satisfying to start building out a city with connecting roads, I almost want a peaceful mode or the pace to be a little slower. Clean visuals and great sound effects, this is a solid entry.

Decrypt by Gabriel Chan 2022-10-04T11:30:57Z

As others have said the dragging of letters is the only thing that feels off but other than that this is really fun, I swear some words just don't exist in my brain haha. Great job with the music and overall style for this, I think the words stacking every 10 seconds is really innovative for this kind of game and adds some unique pressure trying to solve multiple words at once.

MineKeeper by flanne 2022-10-04T11:17:10Z

I won! The game feels really difficult until you figure it out which is awesome. I love your pixel art too, great job.

Life is Fleeting by Sarah Alexa 2022-10-06T21:39:32Z

Man it's really impressive how much you got done for the compo, great work.

Timebound by Ategon 2022-10-04T14:22:16Z

Great art and the puzzles are really unique with the time element, really got me thinking! Some of the mechanics could be communicated a little better in game but once you know what's happening it's great.

Timebound by Ategon 2022-10-04T15:16:22Z

@holden22 It's interesting because the level design is really good for later levels so you're definitely capable, no doubt the time constraint of LD stopped you making better tutorials, which I can't blame you for!

Don't mess with my papitas by rascher 2022-10-04T13:57:36Z

This is adorable and definitely extendable if that's something you wanted to do, there's a lot you can do with this game, great job.

LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

Harvest Rune by TheMonsterFromTheDeep 2018-04-24T19:00:17Z

Oh man what a cute fun little game, loved it. Surprised with how much you got done in the jam, good job!

Spellbowl by Excy 2018-04-23T18:49:50Z

@Sophie + anyone else, you need to drag the cards and throw them (from behind your castle walls). This was probably a readability issue on my end :(

Spellbowl by Excy 2018-04-25T11:45:05Z

Thanks @Matt-Christian! Very good points, will take them on board.

Hi @Sophie, hope you could at least try the game now that you know the controls. I would hope that you can appreciate this was made in under 48 hours and that UX wasn't at the top of the priority list.

Clicky Cards by Connor McGrory 2018-04-23T18:46:19Z

Holy shit, there's actually quite a bit to this game, I'm surprised at how much you managed to get in. I'd legit play this with a bit of TLC.

Shadow Cards by Matt Christian 2018-04-23T17:31:41Z

I actually think you've got a pretty good base for a game. There's elements missing such as hit feedback when using cards, I didn't know if I'd accidentally canceled an action or something. The left/right indicators when viewing cards says W for left (but I think most of us can figure out you meant A) and you can be seen through walls. It's also hard to tell if you're defending or attacking, I presume it's based on whether you're caught or you start a fight.

However, I was initially drawn in. I think if the combat was extended upon and there were more cards introduced (more defend options) then this would be a pretty enjoyable game. Nice job, man.

Rhythm Racer by Jcweeden 2018-04-24T18:40:19Z

Had a bit of trouble handling the car. It's a pretty weird mashup of genres and I really appreciate the effort you put in. There's so much to concentrate on though, if this was like full speed it'd just be a visual overload haha. It's fine for a bash though. Good job.

The Play Ground by LegionZ_Gaming 2018-04-23T18:23:02Z

Okay that was some good humour. Thanks for that man, haha.

Intergalactic Goblin Ramming Speed! by IndieLucky 2018-04-23T08:10:29Z

Really fun game. I think more could've been explored with the two genres but honestly, the way that one orc every now and then flies 50 feet into the air makes me okay with it.
