fun game but everyone online sucks at minesweeper
Very fun concept! It was a bit hectic for my tastes but making ANY multiplayer game in a jam is an achievement in and of itself. Huge props!
A multiplayer minesweeper, now that's not something you see every day. Shame that if there's nobody else, you're stuck on the same level. When that happens, it's no different from normal minesweeper >:
Really like it! If this game had skill rating system I'd even want it on my phone as a time killer
Oh man I love minesweeper so this was a treat! I can't believe you made this in the compo, seriously well done
Pure chaos, which is probably the opposite a mine-sweeper should feel in real life, luckily, worst thing that can happen here is a red square haha. Overall a lovely little game which is impressively put together for a compo!
Very cool idea!
Very impressive. I personally can't sit there and play in-progress Minesweeper games for that long, but I can imagine there are people who would spend hours at this.
Impressive how stable this was. Even though everyone was confined to their own boards, that was SURPRISINGLY competitive. It was funny when people before me placed intentionally-fake flags; that got me real good. Was fun playing against the dev (gg)! hi.png
Very impressive and well executed on all fronts!.
I really like this game! I always liked minesweeper; I think a competitive multiplayer version is a great idea! I imagine it would be really cool with a bigger group.
I appreciate that you implemented not getting a bomb on the first click, ~~would love to have seen the double mouse button feature but that may have made it too easy.~~ It felt like scoring could have been a bit better, like whoever placed the flag gets the point or something like that.
I didn't even participate in the jam this time and I felt like I needed to comment on this one, that's how much I enjoyed it.
@mmason But the double mouse button is implemented! It just doesn't have the visuals but if you click the numbers with both mouse buttons at the same time it is going to work as in the original, opening the tiles around it as long as you have placed the right number of flags.
@lex I could have sworn I tried it, I take back what I said then
@mmason Well, there was one specific tile for which it wasn't working. I mean it's a 1% chance, but it could have been it. Anyway, it's fixed now and it's working on all tiles.
I played this for you on [stream](https://www.twitch.tv/timbeaudet) and I think I gave good feedback there, if so give a heart, and if not, don't!!
I love a good old minesweeper and I love the twist on it, well done!
That was AWESOME! I played it on LittleDoctorGames' stream and the game works so well. I love the choices you have to make, grief the other players, leave boards *just* too incomplete to finish. Absolutely fantastic!
I've never thought I would have so much fun playing minesweeper with friend
Pros:
- It's a minesweeper - It's an ONLINE minesweeper - So you can f*** up your friends with random decisions, by tring to be a smart-ass
Cons(JK):
- It's a minesweeper - And I always sucked at it :D
It's a unique twist on a timeless classic. A job well done!
Yo, this is an actually good idea and implementation that is brought down by adherence to the theme lol.
After this jam I strongly recommend you release a new version that uses a longer period of time - like a 30 secs or a minute. That way you can have more time to strategize. I wanted to troll the other player in my server by misplacing traps - but hardly had the time to think that through. Only enough time to accept the board as it is, and play with it.
I'd also consider switching up the point system. IMO - points should be awarded for area cleared. Then an additional set of points for clearing a board (to keep the strategizing of that).
Once again, this is an awesome game and awesome idea. I really think with a little more polish this could be a big hit.
cool concept and greate execution
@unitedfailures thanks for the insights! I think that for a bigger release it would need a lot more balancing, maybe even multiple "rooms" with different board sizes and timers.
I really like your point system idea, that would fit the game nicely and give people a way to get at least some score even if they're not being able to finish a board for a long time.
