A really innovative idea with loads of potential. If you'd only have changed that ugly green rectangle into something that likes looks like a button then the graphics would have been nice!
I agree with the other commenter about the draggable interface. If you make the tiles that slow you down look more like things that will slow you down that would be good (like sand or water). Also the time next the circle should tick up as it goes along rather than just staying the same. And if you reach the exit you should haven't to wait for the timer to finish.
I'm sure you know all this anyway. Good for one days work.
Sometimes the controls felt a little bit unresponsive but everything is else was very very good. Great graphics. And very polished. Well done!
What a shame the car couldn't reverse in the sumbitted version! I'm gonna be generous and rate the post comp version. lol It was realy good fun. I don't know if I liked the arrow though. I like the idea of having to learn the town or maybe a map screen would be good.
I've not rated this yet. I need to play it more. But I think I would have given up already if it wasn't for the great reviews in the comments. I mean graphically it's great and there is so much style and polish, it's extreamly impressive that you could do all this in such a short time frame, however, most of the games I can't figure out what I'm suppored to do at all.
The first one is straight foward. The dating one is funny and I guess I just have to memorize the answers. I liked the driving one. Seeing it from both views was really cool. I don't understand the platform game at all. I couldn't see any tulips. I don't understand the shooter one either. It only lets me shoot once, and again no sign of any tulips.
Still you will get 5 out 5 from me for innovation.
I won the whole game! I'm a regular on typeracer so I'm your target audience. I at first thought starting from the beginning again was a bad idea, but as there are so few levels it's probably for the best.
If you add more levels though you can change it so you just keep track of how many times they failed, and completing the game with the lowest amount of failures is the goal. That way we wouldn'thave to restart. Or maybe just have check points. Another thing is, you can't actually type when the sign says go. You have to wait until it disappears. I also came across the won and lost at the same time bug.
I think you're really onto something here. I really like it a lot. Although I think after the competition you need to develop it without the 10 second limit, the game should increase in length if you are quick enough. Maybe the amount of time you have to click a tile gets shorter and shorter.
Love it. Simple and fun. I'll be back to play this. I like the graphics, the sound the gameplay, everything. One thing though, does it not save your high score? I couldn't see it if it did. Well done.
I think if you're gonna make a game really hard, then you have to make it really easy to play again. Using the mouse to hit a play again button then, another button at a different location makes it unnecessarily frustrating.
I thought the sprite was interesting. It kind of looked like a real person, like what they did in the original mortal kombat. I liked the look of the rainbow also.
I liked the graphics. The sound kept freezing and was really choppy. The gameplay was really bad. I just kept being dropped on trash cans, the collision detection meant I would sometimes hit a trash can if I was really far away. My computer started making a weird noise while playing this. I checked the cpu meter and it was at 100 percent! Sorry I couldn't be more positive.
Ok I'm terrible at it but it's really good. I enjoyed the creative mode more, but the 10 second version is till good. This could end up being a really really good game, with more rocket parts and such. I hope you keep developing it.
I completed it. It quite was good fun. I could see this been developed into something good.
I like the graphics and it's an original idea. I think the large view would have been better if it was like looking through binoculars. I think you should be able see a little more on the large view too. But this could be very addictive with a few tweaks. Well done!
I also scored over 99 and the score disappeared. I think the game has something fun about it and you could probably develop it into something better. Nice music too.
It made me laugh out loud in a couple of places, especially the text when you win. The gameplay is incredibly tedius yet compelling. I think the cute graphics and story made me want to see it through even though I was tearing my hair out. I've never tried acid, but I'm thinking this is the kind of games the Beatles would have made on their trips to India.
ps I don't think enough was made of his premature ejaculation problem.
I really liked it. I loved the music especially in practice mode. What was interesting was how much the music impacted how long I wanted to play for. The soothing atmospheric practice mode music made me want to keep playing, while the main game music made me feel a litte big agitated. It was good music still but I would have liked the practice mode music to have been the main game music.
This is a game I plan on coming back to. It didn't feel too hard to me. Well done.
Beautiful graphics, and music. Loved the choir voices. Definitely the most stylish game I've played so far. And the person who said it was too easy, must be a lot better at it than me!
I liked the graphics and the controls system. I love the fact you have a link to some music. What a great loop hole to get sound in your game that wasn't made by yourself in 48 hours. The music went very well with the game.
I thought there was no real use of the theme. Sorry but just having a timer doesn't really count in my opinion. You could have just had "You have 10 seconds to make a kill" and a count down. and that would have been fine, plus it would have given the game a sense of urgency.
The simplest ideas are often the best, and I think this is a really good idea. There is so much you could have done with this to make it better.
This was so much better than I thought it was gonna be when I first started playing. So far the most addictive game I've played in the competition. I've made a couple of puzzle type games within 48 hours so I know how hard it is to get the difficulty right and I think you did a brilliant job with that.
The sound and graphics are simple but it does the job. I think another sound effect for when the time runs out would be good, rather than the same effect you get when you die. The constant beeping sound actually adds tension.
I prefer the gameplay of this to Thomas Was Alone. All you need is some beautiful music and a celebrity to narrate it saying funny things. : )
Love the graphics, sound and also I thought indroducing a new rule every 10 seconds was a very interesting idea. I just stood there to watch what rules would come up, and of course they stopped. It would be unfair of me to expect an infinite number of rules, but maybe the last rule should be something that kills him no matter what. like you must not stand still, then finally you must not move right. haha. That would probably be a bit too sick for the cute graphics.
Really great graphics, I was impressed with the music too. I think the game idea is really great, although at the moment the gameplay is a bit unpolished when compared to the graphics and music. But this could end up being something very addictive.
I love original games with simple concepts and as this is one of those games, I love this!
I wouldn't worry about the lack of button on the about page. I bet the amount of people that will actually click on the about button won't very high and they'll figure it out.
I liked the graphics a lot. I like the game but one thing that really bugged me and ruined the experience was I felt I was constantly clicking the continue button. When you are using the keyboard to play a game constantly having to switch to the mouse is a pain. Anyway can't you just assume the player wants to continue when they finish a level?
The font with timer on was pretty small. As ten seconds was the theme you could have made it more prominent.
I'll admit I didn't really find it fun, but it's a very original puzzle idea and good use of the theme.
Love the graphics style and presentation. Also after I tried and failed at creating a foot step sound effect I can really appreciate how good yours was. haha I couldn't beat 10 seconds though. If the world record was ten seconds it would have made the link to the theme a bit better.
Thanks for the feedback everyone. Steve I know you are a right. I have a few ideas to solve that problem. But I didn't dare do it last second. At the moment the clone resets when shot. But maybe it should continue where it left off. Therefore it would shoot more, because you couldn't just stop it shooting.
Also I could have ghosts flying past as bonuses. Which would give you incentive to move to shoot them. Or I could just randomize the starting point along the x axis, although it would be less obvious you have been cloned.
I am going to try the random locations idea, although I'm not sure it will entirely solve the issue as you could still just shoot one clone over and over without any of the others in front to eventually zap you. I have a few ideas, I think I'll be able to make it work somehow.
@michail sshhh don't tell people that. haha I've been racking my brains all day trying to think of a way to make the game work so you can't make it easy on yourself.
People need to start posting their scores. Funnily enough my best score (although I can't remember what it was) was when I was running around all over the place shooting like crazy.
Jupiter_Hadley thanks for inluding my game in your video!
@Tifu It won't be on the next version!
Oh yeah, you're right. We came up with a very similar idea executed in very different ways.
I never would have figured this out without looking at the source code, and most people will probably not give it a chance but for those who figured it out I bet it was very satisfying, like solving a riddle. Really cool idea.
The graphics and presentation were first class. Really really good. I like the mix of the 3d game with the 2d puzzle element, that was original.
I don't understand how you can program something that looks this complicated yet not add a press a key to try again rather than refresh the page!
I think adding a sound when a cog slides into place would have made it more satisfying. Also at the moment it's just kind of randomly trying out cogs. It's just trial and error. You need to think of some kind of clue about which cog fits where.
I agree with Skully. The old man needs more things to do because you are just waiting to be able to play again. Or maybe there needs to be obsticals that take just under 10 seconds to do, and if you don't complete them before you are an old man again the old man dies. Like you could be on a slope that's too steep for the old man to stand on without sliding down to his death. So you have to hurry before you switch back.
Still very impressive overall. I really like the graphics, especially the grainy effect on the ninja scene. I think my favourite part was in the house at the beginning.
I like the graphics, sound and general atmosphere. I think it is a good game and I might come back when I have more patience but the controls are driving me mad. I'm guessing I have to raise the shield above robo 3's head so robo 1 can jump on him, but I keep messing up because of the control system. There are so many different buttons spread alround the keyboard. You make it way more complicted then it has to be. Anyway I think it's a problem that easely fixed, then it would be fun to play.
Really great graphics and I like the music. I couldn't figure out what I was supposed to do and got bored. I tried interacting with objects by pushing space, only one object let me pick it up and nothing happened.
I kept trying and survived. Very clever. There should be some kind of sound effect when you try to use an object and nothing happens, to let you know to keep trying stuff. I would have gave up if it wasn't the comments. But overall very well done, this is very impressive.
I don't get it. It's very intriguing but I don't really understand what I'm supposed to do. If all the audio was 10 seconds long I'd kind of get it, but the first one is over minute then another is 5 seconds. Then there are links asking me if I want a drink at the bar. Different links to click on the same page, and I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do.
I'd be interested to read some kind of explanation.
There is a reason I never get books on tape, my mind just wonders, I start day dreaming and miss everything, so you can probably take what I have to say with a pinch of salt.
I thought it was a great idea, but the whole thing just needed more focus. I think it would have been better if all the clips that you could see the timer on were exactly ten seconds. You needed to get to the point on intro.
Still you get 5 out of 5 for innovation, and it had a great mood. And I think you would know that doing this your target audience is probably kind of small anyway. I can't even get people to read one paragaraph on instructions on a game.
This is a game I will need to come back to to fully understand. There are loads of good things about it. I like the graphics and I've never played anything like this before. I think I will end up really liking it.
But so far I'm finding it more frustrating than fun. Probably because I'm trying to zoom in to see the tutorials, that are written in handwriting that's hard to read, on a screen that is too dark, while accidently clicking the screen and placing a node where I didn't want it, all the while being driven crazy by the repetive music.
That sounds really negative. But I do think this will be really good one day.
I really like the graphics. And the music is close to being good, but is a bit too repetative. Although I still think it adds the atmosphere. A simple game, it's not gonna win any points for originality for it's gameplay but it was fun.
I must be missing something. Where is the goal? The only thing that looks like it could be the goal is the checked side of the table, and it says I die when I hit it?
"It's hard, but in the way that instead of raging at the game you rage at yourself for being stupid."
Haha this guy hit the nail on the head. Very funny graphics. Shame there wasn't more of an animation when it exploads.
It's nice to find a game that I can just pick up and play without having to either download or read 20 paragaph instruction manual! This is really simple and original, and fun. I like it. The other commenters have already pointed out the small flaws which could be improved upon so no point me rehashing it. Well done.
Would have enjoyed much more without the alert box popping up in the middle of each game. I can undertand having a note at the beginning saying which is the best brower but to ruin a game in the middle of it is crazy.
I've played it in chrome now. Definitely better without the alert box! I like the simple but clean graphics. It runs fine in firefox so you wanna get rid of the pop up.
I'm so close to liking this but there are just too many little things that annoy for me to keep playing for long. I kind of like the grahpics. Although it makes it hard to tell where the guard is looking. Why not have a go at drawing people? I've no artistic ability but I managed to make a character that at least looks like a person. It's not hard with vector art.
I just found it frustrating, they always saw me now matter where they was going. I had to turn the volume down because of the footsteps sound. It sounded like the same sound over and over, perhaps you should have recorded a few footsteps sounds and changed them about.
It still had something about it I liked, but I gave up really quickly mainly because of the difficulty.
Really charming. It probably would have been better if you had to time hitting the button right, rather than just mashing it but still great fun to play. Good sound, graphics and was original, it ticked all the boxes.
Great graphics. I'm currently stuck on the scene with the Dragon and gold, and I can't figure it out. It is a bit too much trial and error but I think the silly humor almost makes up for it. I don't have much patience for games when I'm stuck.
There is no link to play? Or am I missing something.
The most addictive and rewarding game I've played so far. I like it because at first it seems impossibly hard, but if you stick with it you do start showing improvement quite quickly and get real sense of pride with your score. That's kind of what happened to flappy bird and that did alright! My highest so far is 28.40 seconds. I really like the look and music too.
I got to level 31. I kept thinking it was going to get harder but it didn't. I'm not even sure what quick time events are so maybe the easy gameplay is some kind of in joke that I don't get. I thought overall presentation was really good though. The music suited the mood of the game, and it drive me to crazy even after hearing the same bar about a 1000 times!
that was meant to say DIDN'T drive me crazy after hearing it about 1000 times.
Very clever. Love the graphics. 5 out of 5 for innovation!
I must be being thick but I haven't got a clue what I'm supposed to do? I clicked on the big square and built a farm, and clicked and the little square and built a gun. Then what? how do I shoot the aliens?
Sorry if i'm missing something obvious!
Nice sounds, graphics, and original gameplay. But I just didn't find it fun, sorry.
I really liked the graphics and overall presentation. It was very polished, so well done! I didn't enjoy the gameplay. I've just played far too many of these games recently and just found it too unoriginal. I liked the in game music, but I wasn't a fan of the menu screen music.
Love it! Totally my kind of thing. I love games with a simple original concept like this. 5 stars for fun. Music was pretty good too. Graphics were simple but effective.
Snake was actually a big influence on this game. When I heard the theme was one screen it made me think of snake. And I wanted to come up with a game that had an original concept that was very simple without any polish.
Really beautiful looking game! You get 5 stars for graphics that's for sure! I found the gameplay a little dull though, but I think that's just personal taste.
I gave you 5 start for overall but I'm seriously impressed! This is like a complete polished game that I would play. And I will be playing it later.
Great use of the theme. I know the visuals are just shapes but it looks so pretty. And the music sounds like it looks. You really did a good job capturing the mood of the visuals with the sound. I like the way the music had a muffled sound because this stopped it from becoming annoying and made it just fall into the background.
I found the gameplay very addictive.
You definitely get 5 out of 5 for mood! Very creepy and immersive game. Great graphics and audio. I got bored of it before I'd finished my first game though, as it just seemed to go on forever. Still, with some gameplay tweeking, this could be the next Doom!
I didn't realize it was a two player game at first so I was trying to do it all myself, which I would really enjoy but as a single player it's too hard. Those walls would need to start off slower. I don't have anyone to play with but I bet it would be really good fun with two players. Music and sounds were excellent. Graphics were very good. And I thought it was very original. It would be nice if it had a stop button so I didn't have to mute the sound to hear myself think enough to give you feedback. : )
Overall 4
Innovation 4
Fun 4 (i'm guessing what it would be like with two players)
Theme 3
Graphics 4
Audio 5
Humor 2
Mood 4
I loved this. A very original concept, and I enjoyed stacking the boxes in neatly. $245 was my highest after 3 goes. I will definitely keep playing.I liked the fork lift driver. I think as it steals the packages, and I have to wait for him to go to carry on, he should wizz by much faster. The music drove me crazy and I had to mute it, but it had the right kind of sound. It just needs more bars. The controls felt a bit slippery. I had difficultly moving the package over by just one space as it went so quick. That popup that says I'm trying to place it where there is already a box was annoying. A buzz sound effect might be a better way of letting the player know.
Well done. This is definitely something I would play.
Good fun, and good use of the theme. The music is pretty good considering the time frame. I wonder if it would be better, instead of dying when you hit a wall, if you just start at the beginning of that level. You are on timer anyway so it shouldn't make it too easy.
Loved the graphics and style. The music was great too. It really added a sense of urgency. I enjoyed it very much! I solved the last one but I'm not sure why it worked.
I couldn't get it to work. It loads than just freezes up the web page.
I had to copy and paste this comment in. I could here the music though
and that was 5 out of 5 easy. It sounded like it had an edward scissor hands type of vibe.
I thought it was a really clever use of the theme as pong might the most famous one screened game of all. And I think you certainty changed it enough to make it your own. I like the fact you have the strategy element of should I hit the ball or get the power up.
Loved it. So far 18 is my highest.
This looks so good! I thought to myself it would be cool to make a platform game with tiny sprites and huge playing area on one screen....but I didn't have the knowledge or skills to make it. So this is really exciting for me to play this. It's awesome. Well done. For some reason there is no place for me to give star ratings on this page. Have you disabled them?
I like the original idea and it was fun. I liked the game mechanic a lot, especially how you get a second chance to get them on the way back.
The graphics were simple but did the job. (a billion times better than my own entry). The look would have felt more complete, if instead of changing the mouse cursor to a square, you had changed it to a hand. Good on you for having a go at making music. Music is very time consuming. Unfortunately only one bar of music repeated over and over quickly gets annoying. Of course you know this that's why there is a giant mute button. I think it would have been better to have had some simple sound effects, which could have added to the humor. People could shout at you as you push them.
I couldn't see a restart button? So I had to refresh the page each time to play again.
I thought this was really good fun. It reminded me of Tapper, but obviously a lot more violent! The graphics were excellent, and it was great seeing new characters on each round. I enjoyed the control system. Usually when games ask you to buy weapons and upgrade and all that crap I find it really boring but this was simple, and added a nice amount of depth to the game. The game couldn't fit all on my screen. Also I had real problems clicking back onto this tab.
You should have used a streaker rather than a cat! It was pretty fun. The graphics looks nice. The crowd loop would have been better if it was a bit longer. The first game took me ages to find where the cat starts at.
Beautiful artwork. I liked the music, but I'm guessing you didn't record that yourself, please correct me if I'm wrong so I can give you 5 for sound. A great experience. But there didn't seem to be any game in there other than running around. The artwork and atmosphere were so brilliant though.
I think this has the potential to be a really great game. Something that I would definitely play. It's very impressive that you got it this polished in such a short time. The graphics are great. I think the gameplay just needs some tweeking.
I think it's an interesting idea. It left me a little confused on the first go. When that popup said click hear to see the glorious sounds, I didn't understand at first. I thought it might have been a link to your soundcloud or something. But to be fair, that was probably just me being incredibly thick!
I liked the atmospheric talking sounds. I liked the idea of the game, but to be honest, rather than feeling tension, I just got bored waiting. I think there is something in the idea of only hitting that button at the right time, but maybe there is a way of making the whole thing faster and more intense. Colors and shapes all over the screen going crazy. The music could be a lot faster. Perhaps you could have the word "NOW" or "Just Push it!" as a chorus. And most importantly I think it would be better if I didn't have to wait nearly as long before i have to push the button.
Not the most original concept but done really really well! The audio was brilliant. I stayed on the start menu longer than necessary just listening to the music. The gun fires, zombies sounds and that sound when you zoom in were all excellent. All that adds to make the game more addictive.
The graphics were brilliant. The only criticism (and i feel embarrassed to make any criticisms of your graphics when my game was just letters on a black background!) is I noticed the zombies all looked better than the main character. That kind of looked a bit plain in comparison. The game seemed very hard but I'm slowly getting better it at. I'm gonna go play it some more! Well done this was excellent.
I like the idea of the game a lot. Simple but original which is my favorite type of game. I could imagine newspapers printed this along with word searches. I found it far too hard though. If it only had levels of increasing difficulty to lure me in. Start of with much fewer squares. I thought the color wheel timer was a nice touch. I hope you keep adding to this after the competition because I think it could really be good. I would be nice to have the option to pick the colors. Shouldn't be hard to implement and it helps color blind people. The yellow and the green almost look the same to me.
It was nice to play a game that had even worse graphics and audio than my own!
Really fun game. Although on my last go there was no possible way to get to the exit. Still very enjoyable. The music was pretty good too.
Very impressive! I liked the music and graphics. As soon as I moved the window and the game moved I was blown away because I've never seen that done before. It really adds a sense of exploration. I had three goes and the second and third times I got to the final crystal and died. I think I would have preferred less Ninjas and being able to dodge their attacks. As it was the gameplay got a bit monotonous. But I think with some tweaking this could really turn into something. And great use of the theme!
This is pretty fun. It's almost got me hooked. And i think with a few alterations I would really like it.
I found waiting for blocks to reach me before I could start annoying. It took too long and as I was dying so often I felt like half the time playing was just waiting.
I think it would be good if I could pick up the blocks and carry them above my head and throw them. At the moment it just seemed like luck when I got one.
Graphics are brilliant. Sound effects and music are brilliant, although having said that it would be cool to hear the instruments make a sound when he plays them.
As stunning as it looks and sounds and I didn't think the gameplay was very interesting. I would have found it fun if when you sat at a piano you then had to play something for a while. Maybe some notation could pop up with keyboard letters underneath.
you must be a hell of a fast reader judging by how long those instructions stay on the screen!
I think it's good that it's hard. If it was easy it would be pointless. Love the gameplay. Really good fun.
It looks and sound great. Great use of the theme. The game seemed to be in slow motion. Not sure if that was the intention of if my computer was just struggling to run it.Are the jumps supposed to be incredibly slow?
I noticed those white things with the face moves on the conveyor belt and a quicker pace than everything else.
I started playing without reading any instructions and I thought it was just going to be as simple as finding the snowman but there was a lot more too it then I thought there was going to be and it was a lot of fun. I'm looking forward to playing it again in a second now I know all the rules. I like the strategy element I like the fact that you don't actually ever lose and it's up to you to quit when the going is good. Just like real gambling. The graphics and sound were good, and the whole thing was polished. The performance got bad after level 40 for me. You can cheat by clicking the cash out button just to pause it and still continue to look for the snowman.
