LD51 — Every 10 seconds

MinerLoop by PavelDlouhy 2022-10-17T01:49:47Z

I was stuck at first, before I saw that I cannot do loops, but the second time it worked out . I like the concept, for such a short game it's better without loops as it give it more depth. I can see it could be developed much further.

ULTRA INSTINCT NINJA MASTER of the Dark Forest by Tygrak 2022-10-03T17:03:39Z

Great game at first I wasn't a fan of the idea of gameplay, but I am a fan of the execution of that idea. Art and particles is looking great, would like to see some more of such style, music is very fitting and gives interesting mood and the difficulty goes up in the right way. Well done!

Tenjutsu by deepnight 2022-10-17T10:43:09Z

Great game, pretty and clean graphics and the gameplay is very polished. Big variety of enemies and nice difficulty curve makes it much more satisfying, although at some point it's really really difficult.

RoboClaw by ildfuglen 2022-10-03T13:24:15Z

I like the arena concept, the robot animation and explosion. Too bad there aren't any sounds, as the attacking would feel better.

ps. repository is probably private at the moment

Neon CGTD by MiltonNH25 2022-10-16T13:24:46Z

Great tower defense and great idea. I was never a fan of that kind of games, but I like when people throw cards at stuff at genres I didn't think of and make a good game out of it. The tension of loading energy and changing hands also made it very interesting as it added additional layer of complexity. The music and graphics were very simple but it made it also easy to see what's happening. Also as mentioned above a break at the beginning for a couple more seconds would be nice, as I usually tried to throw as much stuff as possible, and it didn't plan, despite that I had a lot of fun. This is a great idea to develop it further in my opinion.

Destroy Blocks by mdotedot 2022-10-04T12:56:00Z

I really like the idea, very simple yet very effective. Great music. I didn't like that the blocks had certain rotations, it would be better in my opinion, if it came in random rotation, like you can rotate in tetris, but without ability to rotate.

Doodle Battle by ErikU 2022-10-03T13:42:05Z

I like it, it's like a Totally Accurate Battle Simulator but simpler. There are some bugs with AI as when the archers are running away they fall from the map.

Too fix the issue with WebGL player not showing everything on screen you can use _Better Minimal WebGL Template_. I had the same issue with small player not showing everything as you and it worked well.

Fish n Keys by BobFish 2022-10-03T10:46:48Z

It was a nice experience, fun concept and nice difficulty curve. Even though there was a lot of things it's nice that the first letter corresponds to keys. _X_ and _V_ keys didn't work for me.

The Lure of Treasure Whisper Island by GameDevZach 2022-10-16T15:03:40Z

Great voice acting, nice models. It would be great if the world had more variety and some places where that would be very distinctive. The gameplay is quite easy to understand, but especially at the end the 10 seconds feels like an eternity. Quite fun for a couple of minutes.

BadaBoonker by Rubel_NMB 2022-10-18T16:28:26Z

Lovely art and calming music, I liked the mechanics of the world falling apart a bit _every 10 seconds_. However, it's a bit easy once you see that the best strategy in the next room is to not do anything and wait for the world to fall apart . On the other hand if you want to fight it's too hard, it would be better if there was something that pushed the player to do something, like the world falling apart but more and make less enemies. Still it's a good game, contrats!

Slimerush by TermiGht 2022-10-03T12:28:15Z

I liked the sword control, but I wasn't always aware if the collision was big enough to hit the slimes, and I liked the idea with different boosts.

ps. you can abuse the Shrine and choose upgrades many times

Back Alley Quality Assurance by maxr00 2022-10-03T17:31:55Z

I really liked and played it longer than I expected. The art and sound design is very fitting, with the theme it reminds me a bit of Aperture Desk Job. WebGL version works fine for me (Chrome on Windows PC).

Autumn Harvesting by Don Fouts 2022-10-04T15:18:14Z

I like the mood and overall aesthetics of the game, it is well set up by the introduction, graphics and music and "upgrades" as well. I'm not a fan of the gameplay, but I understand this a satire from such jobs, I would like more game inside it though :D . Also it would be great if there was more feedback to actions, for example at the beginning i couldn't understand what I'm doing wrong as the containers didn't want to open / I felt they opened randomly. I didn't feel like there was ab end goal also, but I enjoyed it mostly because of the awesome animation of opening the container.

After buying "Thank you" the shop buttons stopped having texts.

Lizard Chef by Zachary Shah 2022-10-03T13:57:20Z

A like the art, audio, the mechanics, the movement was a bit quirky at times, but it's a good game. First tutorial screen was a bit scary with the number of texts everywhere.

Baseball Kid & The Nightmare Dimension by Untitled Studios 2022-10-03T11:52:00Z

Great game, one of my favorites so far, love the concept, the main mechanic and the art, music, effects, and especially the starting sequence. It doesn't really connect well with the theme for me though, but I would like to play it again if you expanded the concept.

GameWhereYouRunAndShootThings by dnivie 2022-10-06T13:18:12Z

I like the concept a lot, the enemies are quite simple but well utilized, same as these modification after every round. I missed the sounds the most and more visual feedback from shooting.

Deep in colorful Space by MisterGC 2022-10-03T13:14:39Z

Quite fun, but it would be great if there was more variety of obstacles, like spaceships shooting etc.

The End Position by Taximan981 2022-10-03T11:35:46Z

I liked it, years ago i played the hell out of Alchemy on Android and that was cooler as it had vague story. It was nicely done, the only issue I have is with the theme connection as I feel that the time mechanic while clearly indicated doesn't give anything to the experience. Still, a great game

Collapse by GLoK 2022-10-03T12:58:55Z

A short game, but I like the atmosphere from screen effect and music and really liked the collapsing floor. I had a problem with a movement at first. Using _WASD_ the _A_ and _W_ keys didn't work and I thought it was a supposed to work like that and it was supposed to be harder like that, only after reading johnnysix's comment i realized i could use arrow keys .

Holospecter by theStoff 2022-10-06T14:08:50Z

Well done, the level design is amazing for such a short time, especially that often there are multiple routes for the level, the mechanics you created were very well utilized. I really liked the graphics, it looks like a lot work was put into it, the same with music.

The movement seems a bit clunky at times, especially at the edges of the platforms. The eye-dog would be more threatening if it chased the player if it saw him outside the guarding path, but still on the same level. Also I think that it was more of a `time as a resource` theme than `every 10 seconds`. All of those are really just minor nitpicks, the game is great and I'm really impressed that you even had time to put control rebinds there.

Anxiety by lesinvisible 2022-10-06T13:07:44Z

It's a beautiful, atmospheric world you created, the music and the art really give a great mood to this short adventure. I didn't understand the jam's theme connection, but it didn't matter much as I enjoyed it.

Simple Geometry by HKSpadez 2022-10-17T15:46:35Z

Nice idea, doesn't fully utilize the theme as it's not "every" 10 seconds, but it's still very cool use of 10 seconds. Don't get me wrong, I like the gameplay very much and I think this is very well crafted game. The last fight is very hard as I think there was only one very tight spot to get it right, the camera still moving at the beginning of the fight didn't help and took a precious second. I really liked the mood you built here. This is a solid entry, I liked it a lot.

Temporal Escape by Louis Mareau 2022-10-17T15:54:15Z

Great music and effects, the graphics was a little underwhelming with small enemies and I wasn't sure if the they were hitting and killing me or only used for gaining time. The theme of this game is more centered around time as a resource than on Every 10 seconds in my opinion, but it's still fun and enjoyable game.

Poda Wants a Statue by Doot 2022-10-17T11:01:13Z

I enjoyed every moment of it. It's nice looking, great use of the theme. It's cool that the first time I played it very casually and enjoyed it, then at the second time I played it more competitively (trying to beat my previous score) and the nervousness of that was also enjoyable.

Thwack by Jon Topielski 2022-10-17T11:14:42Z

Nice game, funny graphics, the rotation adds more dynamic to the scene and the walking implementation looks really great. The gameplay is quite simple but implemented exceptionally well also it's very polished.

Satellite commander by Henrik Ganard 2022-10-03T14:09:04Z

I like the orbiting mechanic a lot, fun concept, I would like to see it polished and with more variety of things that could ruin your perfect orbit.

ItGrows by Jim jagers 2022-10-03T10:57:26Z

Loved the audio getting more and more intense, it made me nervous in a good kind of way. The creature scared me a bit first time. Because the creature is far away and only audio indicates the passing 10 seconds i didn't really understand the connection to the the theme at first. Would be nice if there was also a text like "The creature is growing" or something like that.

Pincolour by Haydads 2022-10-03T14:53:44Z

I like this as pinball game, nicely looking, well polished. Not very innovative, but overall it's a pleasant experience. And for some reason, probably the music and no audio-overload it isn't as stressing as most pinball games.

Acid Rain by osh.studio 2022-10-03T11:07:24Z

Great game. I love the art, animations (the only one i missed was animation for fading out double jump), particles and the music and sounds and the overall mood of a game as everything worked well together. I like the gameplay as well, it was a simple concept done well.

Lighthouse by rickylee 2022-10-03T14:22:51Z

Amazing mood made using art style and music, i felt like I was running away from Lovecraft's Dagon, great fit for the theme as well.

Michael Finnegan Begins Again by madeofst 2022-10-16T16:09:05Z

Nice concept, fun gameplay and it looks great. I really enjoyed it. Last part where you had to just run was really hard for me, but I finally did it. It was well balanced - I could see that I can do it but I was making too many small mistakes each time I tried. Great game!

Catagochi by Kosmosael 2022-10-04T13:14:56Z

Great cat simulator, when he want to sleep, he sleeps in the air  I really like the idea for the theme and the music and graphics. It could be better with some polish but, still a cool game

Etencey by Yani 2022-10-03T18:15:07Z

Not a fan of horror games, but I enjoyed it, it had a great mood, the stylistic choice and moving furniture was, a bit funny, but it worked well.

Switch Heroes by Delpod 2022-10-03T14:15:24Z

@termight @krynxx Thank you, the generation of monsters and rooms didn't really worked out the best it could, sometimes it makes really easy rooms and sometimes nearly impossible to beat. I wanted to do a boss battle at the end, but it didn't work out.

@osh-studio Thank you as well. Once I got the level generator and traveling between them working I got the same feeling about Binding of Isaac, but it wasn't planned.

Switch Heroes by Delpod 2022-10-03T16:05:57Z

@henrik-ganard I can agree with that, it's monotone, I may tweak and add some stuff to the game at some point. Thank you for playing

@rickylee Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it :D

Switch Heroes by Delpod 2022-10-04T12:44:05Z

@mdotedot Thank you for feedback, I wanted to tackle balance issues at the end but had no time, I'm making a small post-LD update that hopefully will make it better.

@wrac4242 Thank you, I also wanted to make some more exploring (that's why there are doors at the top of rooms) but couldn't make it, I'm also adding that in post-LD update.

@kosmosael Thank you a lot for nice words and playing the game.

@sarah-alexa Thank you for feedback, I'm also fixing the issue of enemies spawning too close to the doors in the update. I'm glad you liked it.

@thegamearchitect Thank you, I'll think about the art style and see If I can fix it easily

Switch Heroes by Delpod 2022-10-05T10:22:03Z

@dnivie @lesinvisible @eugenik Thank you for feedback, I may try to explore it further once I finish my main project

Switch Heroes by Delpod 2022-10-05T20:14:23Z

@yani Thank you for kind words

Switch Heroes by Delpod 2022-10-15T18:32:39Z

@kizilejderha Thank you for feedback. Keeping the original position is definitely interesting for this idea, it would need some different combat mechanics, but it's definitely worth considering if I ever come back to this idea. Destroying bullets was not something I intended at first but after I first saw it I started considering that a feature not a bug

@miltonnh25 Thank you for feedback, I know that the difference is not big enough, I wanted to create item system to make the weapons behave very differently but I knew I wouldn't be able to do it well in 48h.

@gamedevzach Thanks, I added a temporary upgrade system (you have to play faster to better utilize the upgrades you get) to counter that defensive play a bit in post-LD version 1.1.

@madeofst Thank you for kind words and suggestions. Some of the problems you already mentioned are already fixed in version 1.1, so it's nice that we both saw these problems. I wanted to create additional smaller rooms up to some of the bigger rooms and I did in 1.1, spawning too close was fixed and also in LD version there is always some small lag when changing the room, and it was also fixed, so the experience should be more smooth.

Switch Heroes by Delpod 2022-10-21T19:54:46Z

@dodgergram @darzu Thank you, breaking enemy bullets wasn't intended at first but I liked it and I'm glad it worked out.

@glink4 Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it also on joypad as I didn't have much time to test it. I've never played "Enter the gungeon" but I played BoI and once I implemented switching rooms I saw that it was a bit similar. But I take these similarities as complements

@rubel-nmb @rightearphone Thank you very much!

Tool Packer by Krynxx 2022-10-03T12:48:16Z

I like the idea behind it, it has a simple yet nice looking graphics and sounds and I like the increasing difficulty. I wish it had some calm elevator music to listen to. And I had a problem with slight dizziness after about 10-15 minutes of rotating around.

Life is Fleeting by Sarah Alexa 2022-10-04T13:38:54Z

I had fun playing it. It didn't have any danger, I knew I couldn't lose the game, it would just take me more time to do it, but the music and the fact that day resets every 10 seconds made me kinda speedrun it. The only problem I had was with selecting tiles, as it would make more sense if the selection was at the feet level. Nice game

Switch and Click by wrac4242 2022-10-03T16:29:08Z

I like the theme connection, but in the minigame 2 I was struggling with controlling, it moved not at all or too much, I seemed more troubling in WebGL than in Windows build.

No Man's Land by dodgergram 2022-10-16T18:06:41Z

I very much liked the voices, I didn't know if it was me screaming or enemies though, but it doesn't matter . There is so much going on with bullet hell and the screams, and I probably didn't really understand the shooting mechanics really well, but again, it doesn't matter. Funny, and fun game.

The Cursed Tart by Ilari 2022-10-03T16:47:04Z

I like that we had similar idea about connecting with the theme be we had vastly different implementations of that idea. Nicely done game, i would love to play it with sounds, as i think that that would add much to the experience.

Weirdly enough 1.0.1 doesn't start for me, 1.0 works fine but i have a bug(?) that sometimes ladders or key items (like key) disappear.

Termination Imminent by Kizilejderha 2022-10-16T10:49:08Z

I really liked this game, the main machanic was well done, the music was very fitting and the gameplay was inventive. I really liked one level where you have to pass behind the guard and grab a weapon while he's trying to shoot you. Good way of teaching how AI works. The last two levels reminded me of the Hotline Miami a bit as there were a lot of guards and a lot ways to die unexpectedly, i died many times there but it was great dying and seeing how much more I know about the level. The only thing that could be better presented in my opinion was graphics, top down view would give clearer picture where the enemies are looking at and where they are going. Great entry!

The Little Bot That Could by Xenoparticle 2022-10-03T18:31:14Z

Well done, i like it. At first I wasn't sure if I'm doing something wrong when I couldn't reach one of the cogs and I thought that it's not working well on my pc, but I realized it's a feature not a bug after reaching first booster. After that there wasn't much challenge but i like the idea behind it.
