Jul 31 17:23:32 Peak Oil ♥ 1 Fun little game! Ran into issues a few times where I could not click on the thing I wanted to click on. I enjoyed having to scramble to build more wells as the old were running out. Final score: retirement fund of $2.68 trillion.
Jul 31 22:16:28 4h 52m Power the House ♥ 1 I enjoyed it. Was feeling rather simplistic for the first 6 levels or so, the electric pole made it slightly more interesting, but nothing seemed at all challenging, perhaps somewhat because it was so easy to just try a bunch of spots for the power plant so quickly without having to think about what will happen, just see. If it took time for power to "flow" out from the power plant and light up the houses after I moved it, then maybe I'd sit and think a bit before just doing trial and error, which might be more engaging =).
Jul 31 23:01:12 44m 44s Get Rich Efficiently ♥ 2 Interesting game. I could never figure out how the boilers/pumps/pipes/steam engines worked... they'd connect in weird ways, sometimes not let me place boilers (from reading other comments, maybe I didn't have $100!), and when they did get connected, I couldn't rationalize where the values for temperature/fluid/power production came from. Eventually I just threw a bunch together and kept adding more boilers until the steam engines sometimes said power production and it seemed to work, maybe the visuals as to what was connected to/flowing into what didn't matter. Eventually messed up, ran out of coal, ran out of power, and was doomed =). A good ending =)
Jul 31 23:23:22 22m 10s Dynasty Through The Decades ♥ 1 I had difficulty figuring out what anything did... there was 1 number and two bars for each stat, and just one label, "happiness". The other were... population and influence maybe? I couldn't tell if anything affected the "power" bar in the upper right (other than "give generals power", that seemed to make it go up), and nothing bad seemed to happen when power dropped to 0. I'm confused =). I liked all of the options, was a nice selection of choices, I just couldn't tell if they had any distinct effects.
Aug 1 00:56:16 1h 32m Automated Explorer ♥ 1 Great game! I beat the game (with 11/16 unlocks), then got a couple more unlocks, but was unable to get all of them. I swear one of them said that my drones could withstand a hit (losing 50 power), but after getting that, they still seemed to die in one hit, and that seemed necessary to beat one of the puzzles in the far upper left (although maybe there was a speed boost that would have let me do it). Good take on the theme too!
Aug 1 02:16:06 1h 19m Unadexus ♥ 2 I think I got the hang of keeping Earth alive for a bit, and I build a ship, load it with some people, fuel, energy, and some other misc stuff, the range says 400km, there's a planet at 300km, I can't figure out how to go there! I click the "launch ship" button, then click the planet, nothing happens -_-.
Aug 1 04:21:49 2h 05m City Power ♥ 1 Must... keep... clicking...
Aug 1 04:36:38 14m 49s Circlebots Share ♥ 2 Made perfect sense to me! Although my submission was also about programming bots =). Nice, clever, and simple. Having some kind of score or reason to actually go for "more complicated is better" would be good, like a "this level can be done in 16 moves", although that's probably true of all of the levels. Maybe scoring based on how many unique squares each bot covered would be good =). I'll admit I only made a complicated solution for one level, and it mostly required repeating (but shifting) the same 16 instructions for every bot, so it wasn't very interesting.
Aug 2 02:51:20 22h 14m Power Struggle ♥ 1 I enjoyed that! Had to play it three times before I won though! My winning strategy was to never have the most power, and otherwise keep investing in military and food and saboteuring. Seems there's a bug if you set Player 1 to a computer, that when the game starts, you get to play his first turn! Worked fine after that. In my first game, player 4 had a big advantage (since everyone was at the same high power, and everyone would saboteur the lead, whoever went last just won). I love the choice of font =). Moving dice around got a little annoying. Though I liked the feel of a board game, when my strategy was always "put 10 or 20 into food", it was a lot of boring dragging around, so some UI could be improved there - drag a couple dice, and then just clicking on a box assigns all remaining dice or something.
Aug 2 16:06:42 13h 15m Power Hog ♥ 1 Looks like there's a bug if I click Q to get coffee, and then immediately click to sit down, it says "seat already occupied", because I hadn't finished leaving it yet. I probably could have sat on a non-powered seat, but didn't have time to think =). Nice and simple gameplay, I enjoyed it until I got stuck.
Aug 2 16:16:11 9m 29s THE RISING OF THE MACHINES ♥ 0 Fun little game! After a while the lightning bolt attack started sounding like a cat meowing to me so I decided I was the god of Thundercats.
Aug 2 18:15:35 1h 59m Faade ♥ 1 Very nice! I got rather annoyed on level 2, had to play it about 5 times before I managed to get far enough with enough power to even *see* which direction I should be going (another 2 times to actually beat it, I think), that one should be a little less harsh, but the rest of the levels were pretty good! Visuals and audio were both great!
Aug 2 18:27:15 11m 40s Cave torch and black screen for ludum dare 39 ♥ 0 Quite enjoyed this, despite being rather challenging! Was able to make it to the purple area, but ended up getting stuck in some spikes that didn't kill me, and I'd died enough times by then I gave up. Love how if you don't have your flashlight on there are things that you can't see that will kill you, that are suddenly there when you turn it on. Might be nice to have one last flash of your flashlight showing what killed you in that case though =).
Aug 2 19:55:52 1h 28m Decaying Card Game ♥ 2 Quite nice! I lost my first HP on turn 39, died on turn 49. Managed to keep the damage 2, burn 2, almost everywhere card until somewhere in the 30s at which point it was a nice board reset =). I like that the rules are dead simple, obvious, but still very engaging to play and strategize with =).
Aug 3 05:43:20 9h 47m Dark Lab Escape ♥ 1 I got to the same level a couple times (have to wrap all the way around, with a little room in the middle), and it seemed like I could not target accurately enough... there were two mouse pixels, when I moved between then, it charged for a second, but stopped, so couldn't keep it charging. Probably some better angle, but was frustrating because it felt like I was in the right spot, just could not do fine enough adjustment :(. Enjoyable game, you had me at "bouncing lasers off of stuff" ;).
Aug 3 16:23:40 10h 40m Star Hopper: Crank ♥ 2 Fun little game! I seemed to be having a very buggy experience though - the numbers next to the resources didn't seem to reflect what was happening, usually say a negative number next to energy, but my energy kept going up, and the ore number was close for a while (said +3 but I was getting +1.5/second or so), but then I bought a couple more miners, now it said +4.7, but I was gaining only +0.1/s at that point, so had to stop playing. Energy was full, and always said + a lot (built a bunch of panels), and everything was lit up, so not sure what was going wrong. also usually had two sets of scroll bars visible (I resized my window at some point), and had to scroll each of them to find various buttons. Overall, enjoyed it though =).
Aug 3 17:48:56 1h 25m Game of Cows ♥ 1 Great job, really enjoyed this. Got a final score of 78. Also never saw any iron, does that exist? Took me a while to realize the market gave me more cards, so then I started building everything just to get it out of my hand to get more cards at the market, but then I got stuck with cards I didn't want (a couple cows that required tons of grass and I had already relinquished my scythe for a plow, but then of course I never saw another crop after that :( ). Losing an earlier tool and then randomly having that be the only tool that can help me later was annoying, so maybe it would be better to have tools be permanent, but you just choose 1 to be active for any given day (or, even you randomly get 1-2 of your unlocked tools each day).
Aug 4 01:15:45 7h 26m Winter has come ♥ 1 Fun little game! On about my 6th try I beat it. I kept on failing to click creater miner and turn on coal burner quick enough on 4 of the tries, seems like (at least with my 7 food/3research strategy) timing was way too tight. But, once I got past that, I managed to just barely win, which was great =). I had a little difficulty seeing what was going on, I think a little colored UI showing "+5/turn" etc next to each value showing the previous tick's change would have been very helpful.
Aug 4 16:01:14 14h 45m Depths of Oceania ♥ 1 I had a lot of difficulty with the controls, my shots seemed to pass through things, or they would die when shots looked like they missed. Got down to some level ad I just couldn't move anymore and started taking health damage. I liked the feel of it, and the visuals were great, especially the shark =).
Aug 4 16:26:45 25m 31s RedLight ♥ 1 Neat! I found the dark red a little too hard to see on my monitor and it hurt my eyes -_-. I beat the first level, but then had to stop. Controls and collision were a bit janky, but I was able to figure it out eventually. I like the atmosphere.
Aug 4 22:40:44 6h 13m Broken Shuttle ♥ 1 Nice game, I played through all of the levels! Gameplay was simple to understand, difficult to master. The short lines between planets were entertaining, just one or two sentences is just the right amount of dialog, I think =). Thank you for not forcing me to re-read them each time I died ;).
Aug 5 22:31:05 23h 50m Pura The Robot ♥ 1 Good entry! I found the controls a little swimmy, very hard to push blocks where I wanted to, sometimes just walked right through them and such. The puzzles were interesting. The narrator's robot voice was a nice touch!
Aug 6 21:02:28 22h 31m Voyage of the Indefatigable ♥ 1 Nice game! I was able to beat it on my third try, had to make a cheat sheet of what to do when encountering what, because I didn't have enough time to react, even with someone on scanners, otherwise. My second run ended when I encountered both a black hole and enemy fighters something like 3% of the way there, my Warp Control was only up to 10% or so -_-. Not sure how the hostile fighters were surviving the black hole... During gameplay, I had little time to look at any of the displays, really just Efficiency/Required and Warp %, as the rest seemed somewhat inconsequential, at least, until one of my crew members mysteriously died. Probably using that display for something more visual (big red light next to injured crew members, for instance), and display other things more visibly (like, scanned distance, I didn't even realize that was on the display until I looked at it now! The "log" could have a few ghost lines after "Progress 35%" saying, in dark grey, "Scanned: 36%: clear" or something, for a bit more visual display of what knowledge is known and what hazards are approaching. Had fun with this one, even if one horse didn't make it to safety...
Aug 6 21:13:05 10m 37s Console Commander ♥ 1 Neat little game. I think I spent more time configuring my bindings than playing, though that was strangely satisfying. I managed to kill 2 ships before running out of power, but I was not very efficient in my systems disabling.
Aug 6 21:23:00 9m 55s AstroMouse ♥ 0 Great game, love the feel! I think it perhaps would have been improved if running out of power had a consequence (e.g. HP drain or game end), as it was, it felt pretty relaxed, and I only ever switched to generating power when I was in perfect safety, and just sat there to watch the power/hp go up... would have added some tension if I had to do that mid battle in fear of running out of power.
Aug 6 21:36:22 13m 22s Fade ♥ 0 Beautiful! Definitely did a good job of evoking a mood! I feel like sometimes I missed a line that was said while I was concentrating on fighting (not completely sure, but felt like I was reading the second half of a thought... or maybe I forgot the first half by then...), so would have been better to space narration slightly farther from the fighting. Also would have been nice to be able to move with the mouse (right click?), so I could have a hot cup of cocoa in my other hand to really get in the mood! Gameplay was simplistic, but still felt pretty good. I did die once (I was horribly afraid I'd have to start over at the beginning, and therefore would have just quit playing), and was happy to not have to redo much at all, and was happy that I died, tricking my mind into thinking there was at least some challenge being overcome ;).
Aug 6 21:58:50 22m 28s The Will to Live (a game about willpower) ♥ 0 Well, that was depressing :P. I couldn't seem to do anything to increase my mood (maybe I should not have eaten the coconut...), but my other stats were well taken care of! The narration got a bit long, would have liked to play more days and read less =). Enjoyed this, good job!
Aug 6 23:19:48 1h 20m Harvest And Extract ♥ 1 Fun little game. I quickly had way more energy than what I knew what to do with, so I just ran to the top of each level (to avoid the slow teleport animation...) and got all the way to mars, and eventually found the final extractable! Was satisfying exploring the map and extracting oil, would have enjoyed a bit more pressure (some chance of actually running out of power), and slightly more to do, though I appreciate all of the different background tilesets =).
Aug 6 23:33:18 13m 30s Indie Power-Up Supply Co. ♥ 0 Fun game, reminds me a lot of Carpentry in Puzzle Pirates, though I enjoyed being constrained to use a specific set of pieces. Was really hard to click to get pieces down in the right place though, a shadow previewing where they'd go would have been great.
Aug 7 02:32:54 2h 59m Universal Powers ♥ 1 I reached situation 16. I felt like I had little feedback or idea of what options were going to do what, as opposed to similar games where one option sounds rather military-oriented and another political, where it's (somewhat) more clear about the outcome. So, I felt like I was just randomly choosing things, though some of them were amusing, which was good =). I like the graphics and the background star field too.
Aug 7 05:35:20 3h 02m Running out of Power ♥ 0 Good idea, but it seemed every level I could beat by forming the trivial straight line across the middle, which made for very uninteresting gameplay. If all tiles had only 2 connections (and in and an out), would be much more challenging, or perhaps if you needed to pass power through all tiles. I liked that the interface was snappy and responsive, although did sometimes seem to think I had power connected when I did not and vice versa.
Aug 7 05:40:20 5m 00s Energy Grid ♥ 0 Game silently exited the first time I ran it, after building a couple coal mines, but I was able to play through to the end on my second try. I like building things, but there didn't seem to be much of a game here... a little bit of a challenge to click quick enough at the beginning, but then got uninteresting. Nice that it was short and had an ending though!
Aug 7 13:48:58 8h 08m Fuse Cell ♥ 3 Gorgeous! And wonderful audio! I had a very hard time figuring out where the hitbox of the ship was, and often ended up dying or surviving unexpectedly, which was frustrating. I also could never figure out under what circumstances charging released a blast reliably which also got annoying. Very well made though, and I made it to the Rook once. Nice job!
Aug 7 13:56:21 7m 23s daemon ♥ 1 Gorgeous, but too hard for me, I couldn't get past the first swirly thing :(. I like the idea of your sword also drawing your health, nice take on the theme =).
Aug 7 19:17:39 5h 21m SpaceReturn ♥ 1 I seem to be running into a bunch of bugs... when I get attacked, and lose the front half of my ship (all of my mounts and drills/etc) they still seem to be taking some power (maybe got refunded for the mounts, but not the arms?). Having no mounts anymore, I loaded up on cheap resources, started flying, someone offered to pay me $90 for 40, so I accepted, then arrived at the next station and I had 0 resources, $22 -_-, robbed! I think I'll restart... Once I managed to survive past the first station, I had a lot of fun! Really liked winning combat, getting stuff, and being able to add on/repair some damage while flying to the next station. I got over $1000 when there were 11 stations left, I'll call that "winning" for now ;). Didn't notice there were hotkeys for placing things until the very end, really wish I had noticed that earlier! Graphics style is nice and consistent, which is good. Gameplay is pretty fantastic, if lacking balance, for a Ludum Dare, I could definitely see wanting to play more of this =).
Aug 7 19:36:06 18m 27s Output ♥ 2 Fun game! I made it to exactly 52 weeks, ran out of money right after queuing up my second Hydro plant :(. I might have to try again later... =)
Aug 7 23:20:12 3h 44m Power City ♥ 0 Thanks for including the one with Java bundled, I'm definitely not installing the JRE ever again... ;) Fun little game, I like building things. I couldn't figure out how to get Solar Panels to do anything useful though, and my money didn't seem to increase much faster between when I had a hundred people or a thousand people, despite them being happy the whole time, not sure exactly how that is supposed to work. Graphics are simple, but consistent, which is good =). The theme of this game seems to more be running into power than out of it though, since there was little risk of actually running out of power.
Aug 7 23:32:19 12m 07s Delivery Drain ♥ 1 Love the take on the theme! A kind of running out of power we all know so well. I also really liked the stop signs as a place to check your map. Pretty challenging, I managed to finish Easy with using 28% of my power, I would not have finished hard at that rate ^_^.
Aug 8 00:03:08 30m 49s Power or die ♥ 1 Nice game! I won! I also kept building power plants off into the distance to try to find more coal, but I couldn't find any... I guess we'll have to settle for unlimited power from a perpetual motion machine then instead :(. Nice tutorial too, that really helps.
Aug 8 01:49:51 1h 46m Power Grid Manager ♥ 1 Fun little game, though got a bit monotonous, I gave up when I got around 6200 points and 7 houses ^_^. I loved the breaking keys mechanic, was satisfying to push them back down (after I kept trying to press the same key and was wondering why it wasn't doing anything... =)
Aug 8 02:09:51 20m 00s Tycoon ♥ 1 Neat! Simple mechanics, but new and refreshing, running out of power is a big deal. I was unable to defeat Vladimir. As far as evil tycoons go, I'm assuming that was Vladimir Harkonnen?
Aug 8 03:57:13 1h 47m Pipe Trek ♥ 0 Neat mechanic, and great LCARS! On Hard, I made it to rank Captain, 4 kills.
Aug 8 13:54:43 9h 57m Robo Power ♥ 0 Great game! Glad someone else went with programming drones ;). Especially on the last level, I wasn't clear on the rules of exactly when a drone would hand things off to another, and I had 3 drones on the same spot, one dead, one with a power pack, one giving energy, and just had to randomly swap things around a bit until, by chance, the one I wanted seemed to get the power pack. Other than that level, they were all nicely designed so I felt kind of clever for figuring them out.
Aug 8 17:56:28 4h 01m Artifact Dive ♥ 1 That was fun. Managed to find the artifact and escape on my second try. Once I realized power was not going down over time and I could take my time doing things, the pressure was lessened, but I didn't make as many stupid mistakes and was able to survive. Like the music. Randomly generated levels are good for replayability, although there's not much interesting going on in the rooms, so it didn't cause interesting choices (just "should I always turn right or always turn left?", and then depth-first search the whole map), maybe something slightly more interesting to the level design would be good (something like teleporters which makes it non-trivial to just brute force search the map).
Aug 8 23:48:00 5h 51m Oh no! Democracy! ♥ 2 Neat, love the theme! I was able to launch my rocket with 69% unrest accumulated. I liked the style quite a lot. Choices weren't particularly interesting, usually just "what card has the best ratio". Perhaps if drawing an action card caused some unrest, and there was always 1 action card available, it would often lead to more deliberation on "that's a good card, but is it worth that unrest or giving up this other card?"
Aug 8 23:59:06 11m 06s Powerhouse ♥ 1 Fun puzzle game! I made it through level 16 (3060) before quitting. It was also getting a little choppy then (also on the web build). The art was nice and fits the theme very well. I think some levels were perhaps too easy - there were lots of different solutions to them - it should be possible to generate levels with fewer solutions (although, maybe that just requires more pieces which have only 2 inputs/outputs, which makes for a less interesting puzzle... so maybe it's fine as-is ^_^).
Aug 9 00:25:26 26m 20s HE BEAT HER. ♥ 1 Beautiful! You did an amazing job on the art, and are clearly a master of your tools!
Aug 9 01:54:54 1h 29m Computer Crisis ♥ 1 Really enjoyed this! Had to play it twice, got 3801 on the second go. The Pong Break was fantastic!
Aug 9 02:03:31 8m 37s Power Tripping: Keeping It Cool ♥ 0 Took me a while to realize what the batteries were, and then I managed to get rank Frigidair! I'll assume that's awesome. Definitely frenetic, leaving me no time to chill. I like the style and puns =).
Aug 9 02:11:12 7m 41s Quoala ♥ 1 Heh, fun, I found 4 of the endings. I enjoyed the ending when I blindly followed my Garmin, err, Quoala.
Aug 9 15:48:17 13h 37m BatteryUnknown's PowerGrounds ♥ 1 Great job, and nicely done on the multiplayer!
Aug 9 18:38:07 2h 49m Recoil - Mike Said No Short Titles ♥ 0 Not bad! Levels were a bit easy for me, didn't feel like I was ever in danger of running out of power, even when I did a bit of clicking randomly instead of planning. Got to level 12 before I quit.
Aug 9 23:49:39 5h 11m Running out of robots ♥ 0 Neat idea! I couldn't figure out why I was sometimes failing the minigame (just time?). I lost too many robots pretty early and was just left with 2 diligent workers, but that wasn't enough, I think =).
Aug 10 00:01:55 12m 16s The Power Factory ♥ 1 Neat! At some point I had like 3 waves of disasters in a second wipe out almost everything, I build that back, and then no disaster ever happened again... power just kept flowing, then I quit ^_^. Until then it was fun, although as soon as I had a pattern established that I wanted to build, it was just sit, wait, rebuild the same thing again, repeat. Figuring out the game and the early bits were best.
Aug 10 00:11:09 9m 14s Goyom ♥ 0 Interesting game. I found the puzzles a little simple, as there was always one (fairly) clear path which would eat all of the candy (usually in almost exactly the number of moves remaining), with rarely any choices on where to go next, so that made the puzzles less interesting than they could be. Gameplay was nice and fluid though, it felt good to be flying over a bunch of candy and picking it up just in the nick of time =).
Aug 10 00:23:34 12m 25s Energy Collector ♥ 1 Total Payed: 3873.34. That was fun! A little too click-y for me, could have used some hotkeys to select the different things, so I wasn't struggling with moving the mouse back and forth and instead just building my station.
Aug 10 04:31:14 4h 07m Energy Bomb ( 2 Player) ♥ 0 Bonus points for local multiplayer, my favorite! Took me a while to find someone to play with though ^_^. We often found there was no reason to go anywhere near each other or each other's bombs, so it was a bit stalematey, but sometimes had good games, but usually someone just messed up and blew themselves out of the ring. Encountered a bug one time where player one could not place a bomb - I believe he had an active bomb on the board when player 2 suicided, and then when the next round started, player 1 could never place a bomb again, had to restart the app. It was very hard to tell when powerups were pick-up-able, my opponent just thought they were buggy. I liked the rather fresh gameplay, not quite like most local multiplayer games. Good job on your first entry to Ludum Dare!
Aug 10 18:24:21 13h 53m Yo Ho Ho ♥ 1 Loved the "Help!" written on an island in the background we sailed past. Didn't figure out flanking - if I did it, it always failed, so I died, restarted, and then whenever the enemy did it to me I seemed to do just as much damage to them after they did it... My second voyage was quickly ended with a mutiny and my treasure going overboard, and then another mutiny :(. My 3 remaining crew members had no hope... Next (after restarting a few times when I got something horrible right off the bat), I put half my crew in Cannons, and half in Cooking, and I seemed to take *way* less damage than before, any chance Cooking actually reduces damage? I guess damage went up later, maybe I was just getting lucky and getting weak ships (though almost all of them always did 6 damage for most of my journey). Repairing seemed to only bring me to 100 hull, even if my crew in Hull brought my total to 200 :( Finally beat a map once =).
Aug 10 18:39:31 15m 10s Energia ♥ 0 Neat game. Had a hard time telling what was going on some times. Wasn't sure what got me more skill points, and when, or if there was an end goal, though at some point it said I drained all of the energy of the city and won, so I'll take that as a victory =).
Aug 11 21:41:13 27h 01m Dance On The Wire ♥ 1 That was pretty fun, once I got the hang of it! I made it to the end, if just barely. I was confused at first, though you hand't released a game, as your only link is for source code, you may want to change the link to be "Web" instead =). Info for new players that might be useful: Your power is displayed as a circle around you and gets less and less full as you fail moves (or whenever you're moved around naturally?). Big brown dudes suck your power. You lose if you're out of power. Hitting a movement arrow key at the right time gains you back a little power (I think it mentioned that in the tutorial, but it was hard to grock everything as the tutorial moved you past - would be best if you had to manually move past each important part of the tutorial).
Aug 11 22:02:28 21m 15s Charge! ♥ 0 That was pretty great! Loved the style, especially the visibility and splatters of blob guts. I played twice, both times ran into a Gizoid which I apparently could only hit for 0 damage, and apparently he could move diagonal and I could not, so he destroyed me with no escape :(.
Aug 15 01:06:16 75h 03m No Sorcerer's Sky ♥ 1 That was neat =). A little boring clicking on flying scrap, but fun to upgrade my station. On my third attempt, I managed to get the greenhouse built so that I wouldn't run out of power, however the game lost any difficulty at that point, just slowly accumulated stuff. I first tried the WebGL version, and that didn't work because I seemed to need to press Escape to leave some screens, and escape also exited full-screen in the browser :(. I then tried the Windows version, and that had problems (that I didn't realize until later) because my screen is not 16:9 (it's 16:10), and some UI was off the edge of the screen (such as the crafting UI once you upgrade it, though I eventually figured out what the parts I couldn't see must have indicated).
