I really enjoyed this! I found myself playing it for a considerable amount of time. I felt like you followed the theme very well. It wasn't too clear to me at first, but after I realized that power diminishes depending on how many structures are hooked up to that power, and when too low, makes citizens unhappy :(. Great entry, very well done.

I will add that I wasn't too sure how money was generated, I assume from the factories but it seemed like money poured in even when I didn't have factories. And I wasn't too sure how to use solar panels.

I like it! The gameplay was nice, the amount playing it is a lot more than what I expected, and it's easy to play!

I think that some music would improve it, and maybe add more space. This is my world, and as you can see, I run out of space quicker than I run out of power! Screenshot_222.png Also, more factories don't seem to make more money. Is that a bug?

The factories cause more players to stay in hotels, not more money to be generated (That would be a better mechanic though, lol) And the money you get is depending on the mood of your citizens. If you have no citizens, you get no money. If you have angry citizens, you also get no money. If you have neutral citizens, you get a little money, if they are OK a little bit more, etc.

Decent amount of play time. Excellent work.

The mechanics are quite interesting, but a little confusing (glad you cleared it up in the comment above, regarding how money is generated). Graphics and sounds aren't great, but that's not really the point of this game. I found the game a little too simplistic to really get into it, but for a game jam entry it's pretty good, and it definitely has potential. Well done :)

Good well-thought and interesting game ! The graphics are simple but are enough for this kind of game (even if more details would have been nice, like be able to see which tile is selected). Good job !

Definitely a very strong core to the game and a lot of neatly interacting elements.

I feel like the buildings could have benefited from a popup tooltip to help explain each of the buildings but it was kind of fun to discover them myself.

A bit more polishing and this could be a great game.

Thanks for including the one with Java bundled, I'm definitely not installing the JRE ever again... ;)

Fun little game, I like building things. I couldn't figure out how to get Solar Panels to do anything useful though, and my money didn't seem to increase much faster between when I had a hundred people or a thousand people, despite them being happy the whole time, not sure exactly how that is supposed to work.

Graphics are simple, but consistent, which is good =).

The theme of this game seems to more be running into power than out of it though, since there was little risk of actually running out of power.

Great job, this game was actually really fun and the sound effects match perfectly with the whole experience. Despite being relatively simple, the game mechanics worked out really well. I also loved how the roads and such would combine when placed next to each other. One thing though that I had a problem with was the font but that's a simple fix.

Other than that great job.

The power system reminds me a lot of SimCity 2000. It was fun to play but as Jimbly said, having 5,000+ people didn't seem to earn me money any faster. It felt like I was still waiting 20+ seconds between building each hotel, and constantly broke.

I even tried building more factories but idk the hotels already had 300+ people in them?

I gave up after 20 minutes of play time. It would be a lot of fun with music, slightly better graphics (Can't tell what I'm about to put down on which tile) and some subtle indication of whether I'm playing right or not.

Very underrated game, excellent work! I wish I could also upvote you for the timelapse!

gingerale 2017-08-10 08:58

This took me a while to figure out but once I did, I had fun with the city building! I wish there had been a way to scroll the window to access more space as this game seemed to just keep on going.

I'm not sure if I actually needed the roads to connect rather than there simply being a road. But either way, well done!

I like these kinds of games, where it's just big playground that you can discover on your own pace and style. I feel like the graphics and sounds fit the overall style quite well, the only thing I would like to see is better explained concepts of where the money are coming from. I had my guess but I wasn't really sure if it is right or not. There doesn't need to be exact numbers, just general "this yield money and if this, it yield more money". As I read in the comments, it depends also on how satisfied your citizens are which I really wouldn't have guessed (taxes has to be payed whether I'm happy or not). But overall really good job on making me busy for quite some time :)

Here's my city. Perfect design for making everybody happy. LD39_PowerCity.PNG Could squeeze out more population with hotels, factories and less happy people, but I like my utopia the way it is.

The simulation is too simple to be interesting really. There should be some forces working against you to make building the city less cookie cutter. Some ideas: * Global events (climate, recession, war, new technologies, etc.) affecting population and happiness * Local effects (weather, powerty, riots, new building designs, etc.) affecting infrastructure condition and happiness

Thematically these seem like big complicated things, but they can be simulated in very simple ways (weighted die rolls with a bit of data tracking to make sure that successive events make some sense at least).

It's a fine start for a city builder simulation. Not complicated enough yet.

Fun simcity type which i really like :) I feel like it is def a start to a bigger game but pretty impressed you did this in the time you had a

Nice game. I included it in my Ludum Dare 39 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LqYPjUYhuXo
