LD39 — Running out of Power

Precious Cargo by CMLSC 2017-08-01T07:49:15Z

I greatly enjoyed playing and the style! I mostly started getting annoyed when the oncoming wooden ships just kept appearing waaay too high for me to reach and gather energy from.

I do like how you made it fit the theme though! And took a few moments to figure out how to jump right after gathering energy.

Sabotage by lythom 2017-08-01T10:51:58Z

To be honest.. Mostly I just felt confused how this game worked. Eventually got somewhere through trial and error. I just wish I had quite understood how the cards use and provide resources.

I do really like the idea behind it though.

Blood In The Stars by Nek 2017-08-01T08:50:23Z

I highly enjoyed the atmosphere and the mood brought by it. It's a shame there wasn't much to do. Making it a climb of stairs was a good choice though. And the ragdoll physics gave greatly amusing effect to balance the sinister theme.

I couldn't really tell if I was hitting anything, but that seems to be the issue with most Fist Person Melee games. Which is unfortunate. Yet, even with that, the game felt too easy.

I enjoyed the little puzzle this game offered. Though I'm still lost if there was a third item to pick up, to fill the final slot? I never found it.

The game was short enough to retry after a failed attempt with ease. It was a good idea to make the timer only one minute. Just enough time to get things done and prepare a nice spot for yourself.

Wish the guards hadn't been as random but with the ease of retries I mentioned it wasn't that big of a deal. Well done!

Power Chase by Thinkofname 2017-08-01T11:03:39Z

I quite enjoyed this. Wish you had had time to polish the movement but I had fun going through the rooms.

Power City by TheWGBbroz 2017-08-10T08:58:44Z

This took me a while to figure out but once I did, I had fun with the city building! I wish there had been a way to scroll the window to access more space as this game seemed to just keep on going.

I'm not sure if I actually needed the roads to connect rather than there simply being a road. But either way, well done!

Mr. Spaceship McSpaceFace: The Game [A.K.A. The worst game of 2017] by ArBe 2017-08-01T08:34:28Z

It's quite nice to play, there just isn't much to do and it's really fast and easy to run out of power. Have you considered an ability to lock your weapon to a target instead of having that line thing? Should make it less of a bother. Could be made a bit faster too. But felt fun.

A minor annoyance is how the menu uses different controls than the game, heh.

Escape the Earth before its too late by Alien 2017-08-01T09:18:12Z

Being the first time to take part and getting something to submit is quite impressive. It's too bad there didn't seem to be much variety to the game. Perhaps could increase complexity through power management so you don't just run on a timer? It is rather luck based as it is now.

I hope you'll be taking part in future jams too

Could you please provide an executable?

Trap in the dark by azziliz 2017-08-01T09:07:42Z

Did the first fifty levels. After the RNG kicks in they get.. alright. A lot of times the exit was just really close to the beginning. And there was always one clear route that just needed quick memorisation. I think I had +4 or +5 at level 50 for my crystals beyond what was visible. So it was a bit too easy.

Overall, it was a nice looking game with an alright idea. Good execution on the idea though. It could've used some more variety to it.

Hover Power! An Unfortunate Game Jam by F-Dawg 2017-08-01T09:26:47Z

Oh hey, it's an autorunner. Seems to rely a bit much on memorisation and luck which unfortunately diminishes the fun quite a bit. Could be zoomed out enough to see where you're jumping and bit more vertical movement too.

Basing on your comments it was a learning experience though, so I hope to see your next work for LD40!

Flicker by roaderful 2017-08-10T09:22:31Z

I was really lost on what I was doing until I scrolled the page down and saw that you had written guidelines there, heh. After that, it was quite simple.

Fun little puzzles. Most annoying part was that I didn't figure out how to remove the wires I had placed wrong, or even how to restart the game (short of refreshing). There was no indication that the game had ended, be it through running out of wires or reaching the end, which was a bit confusing.

Otherwise, audio-visually this game is really enjoyable. And the puzzle mechanics were very interesting as well. Could easily expand on that, I'd think. All in all, well done.

PLUG and PLAY by Lishnor 2017-08-01T08:57:47Z

An incredibly cute game. I had some bothersome issues with the cord getting stuck on the nails though. And the collision detection on the dangerous objects was a bother more than once, diminishing the fun.

But this is a really clever take on the theme and a pleasure to look at. Good job there

PotatIO by Ash Duong 2017-08-01T10:28:01Z

A very calming game to play. Once I figured it out I quite enjoyed myself. I only wish the camera could scroll and the few issues I had weren't there.

Both market and recipes open up at the beginning for me. And when I try to purchase a glass bulb I get a potato wire instead.

Overall, beautiful and relaxing. Placement and harvesting could be faster. I felt like this sort of game should be possible to have on the side while I do other things.

Magus O-Minus by Nucleose 2017-12-06T14:15:35Z

Really lovely work here. My biggest issue was the camera not keeping up during vertical movement, as has been mentioned by others. Mood is wonderful and the audio-visual aesthetic matches everything else great.

It's too bad I ran into a level where the staircase doesn't trigger scene change in that wall-less labyrinth.
