LD39 — Running out of Power

Power City by TheWGBbroz 2017-08-07T23:47:06Z

The power system reminds me a lot of SimCity 2000. It was fun to play but as Jimbly said, having 5,000+ people didn't seem to earn me money any faster. It felt like I was still waiting 20+ seconds between building each hotel, and constantly broke.

I even tried building more factories but idk the hotels already had 300+ people in them?

I gave up after 20 minutes of play time. It would be a lot of fun with music, slightly better graphics (Can't tell what I'm about to put down on which tile) and some subtle indication of whether I'm playing right or not.

Only on Batteries by Silvae 2017-08-04T01:37:09Z

I liked it.

The only complaint is that it feels pretty slow - The robot takes a long time to move and I can't go far before I have to go back home. I got bored after a while, but I enjoyed the time I played.

Also, it would be nice if the UI showed the battery as remaining ammo - I know they're the same, but it's hard to see "49%" and think instantly "I have 4 shots left + 9% battery". Users can't read, Joel Spolsky said so.

Battery-Powered Business by AlmostCthulhu 2017-08-04T01:24:24Z

Played the Linux build.

I'm not much of a strategy game person, and I found it overwhelming. I played two pipe missions and they both timed out before I could solve them - I've played those kind of puzzles before but the perspective seemed confusing.

A lot of stuff happened, I expected that clicking the "Low tech" would activate a tool like in SimCity, but instead it instantly built the building in a random location. (Maybe I had clicked on a tile without knowing it?)

I gave up after maybe 2 or 3 minutes. The graphics are great but it needs a tutorial.

Removal of Insidious Box by Activated_Onion 2017-08-04T12:55:41Z

Thanks, sunnray.

I think the jagginess is a performance issue - The post-jam version fixes that but it changes a ton of code so I don't think I can post it for the jam.

LD40 — The more you have, the worse it is

Grand Fat A$$ by Lorthal 2017-12-17T02:08:13Z

Low FPS, couldn't figure out how to play. On the plus side, it reminds me of the music video for "Right Here, Right Now" by Fatboy Slim.

Guero by beta 2017-12-17T17:48:10Z

I got the first treasure but then the compass went wacky - It pointed back towards the quest-giver guy, and when I went to him it pointed out. So I couldn't find the next treasure.

The music is okay and the swinging is fun but I didn't get into the game.

Just Make It Work by Hurlu 2017-12-09T04:49:11Z

exe version said it couldn't launch cause UnityPlayer.dll was missing? You also said it's an installer, usually if a game wants a system-wide install people will pass it by.

In Temperance Ruin by sparewizard 2017-12-09T04:44:39Z

I played it for a few minutes.

It's hard for me to keep track of where the stairs are when it moves one tile at a time, I can't see far, and everything looks the same.

I didn't read the README (most users won't) so I kept thinking I was about to die.

The stat abbreviations didn't make sense without reading the readme and all I wanted was to not die, but I didn't know how to play the game.

Copperia's Peristalsis Peril by Activated_Onion 2017-12-04T01:59:12Z

I have no idea if the binaries work but the code's all good on my PC. Git commit a30d15871f036623c93ac0df09e11ca078054fe5.

Glutonny by Crock 2017-12-09T04:55:05Z

@icxon: I had that same glitch.

Anyway, it's cool to see people using LOVE - It was my favorite framework for a while until I realized I missed static typing.

The art and music are good. Just wish the gameplay was deeper.

Also maybe you know this, but I think the food spawns at the same locations every time. If you want that, good. If not, you need to seed the RNG with the current time at boot.

LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

ELECTROLIFE 2097 by neontropics 2018-04-28T01:48:18Z

It was weird how I had nothing equipped, so it took me a few minutes to realize I had a gun. (Edit: What I mean is, usually I have mousewheel bound to switch weapons, and I didn't know that Q/E switched weapons)

The terrain is really steep and sometimes the night is pitch black, so I couldn't see where I was walking even though a bunch of angry monsters were chasing me forever, this felt unfair.

I had to get really close to get a GVP, and I only got one because at that range the monsters get angry.

I don't know how to tell the monsters apart, or how to tell when they have a good vibe. I just clicked the camera a bunch, then when I got a picture I killed them.

It was okay but I don't think I got the experience you wanted me to have.

My finest work yet, a computer gaming wonderhorse

Bowling For Bombs by Activated_Onion 2018-04-22T21:51:04Z

I want to confess that I used the default samples in LMMS for the music, so if the song sounds bad or good, it's LMMS' fault.

Bowling For Bombs by Activated_Onion 2018-04-24T02:53:52Z

Yeah, I think that's a bug in the mouse handling. Wish I'd investigated it. I don't think the Lua file would have fixed it.

Platform Fighters by epicdude312 2018-04-24T01:13:55Z

I played it a bit but it took a while to understand how to attack, and then the game felt slow because I had to jump a lot to start my attack.

King's Cup by coachsisyphus 2018-04-28T01:17:45Z

I really liked this. The dragon is cute. Negatives, the puck is a little hard to control so it felt random, and I wish the pucks made noise when they collided.

World of WarPETS - LD41 by neuronezero 2018-04-24T01:16:55Z

This would be cool as a game where you can ride giant sea creatures around or maybe on land like that Unreal (I think?) level where you fight on the missile launchers.

Love to Live by SleepyDev 2018-04-28T01:17:19Z

I think doing an alpha-cutout on the guy would have added a lot.
