LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

Stomp & Conquer by nopogo 2018-04-24T00:49:49Z

This game wasn't extraordinary, but it wasn't bad. I'm not really into either of the genres of this game either, but the game was relatively fun. It didn't really have much of a mood to me, because the entirety of Europe looked the same; also, the cities all looked the same. I'd also like to mention how a little into the game, my game softlocked and went south (literally) down to the ocean for no apparent reason. Huh.

The itch.io page is giving me a 404 error. Have you typed the URL in correctly? I'd really like to try this out.

Ah, okay. I'll make sure to check this out when it's ready!

This is a really nice game! I liked how the two games fit together - nice job with the theme! The graphics were also really good. The only gripes I have are the fact that the game seems to start immediately (it goes through the title screen in one frame), and that the ball sometimes gets stuck, giving me a huge score easily.

My First Ludum Dare! by Pureownage 2018-04-24T00:14:16Z

Considering how this is your first Ludum Dare, I'll try to go a little easy on you, but I'd mainly like to give some constructive criticism. I'd assume this game is a combination of the golf and rhythm genres. However, the shield kind of makes the rhythm aspect not exist if you shoot well. It's also not too innovative; I've seen plenty of games in a similar vein before. Consequently, the game isn't that fun for me; it's just like dozens of other games I've played before. In the future, I'd recommend trying to be a little more innovative; golf with moving objects can already be considered rhythm.

Run and Plant! by Hellblade 2018-04-24T00:41:15Z

This is a pretty nice game! Honestly, it fits the theme perfectly, so well done on that! However, there were some kind of cheap deaths due to the level generating with several extra-difficult jumps in a row, which made me not have quite as much fun. It was still pretty fun, though!

Just In Time by Dovydas 2018-04-24T00:03:09Z

Okay, I'm going to explain my rating here: FUN: 3.0/5.0 This game is kind of what I'd expect from a platformer, minus the rhythm aspect. Now, I love platformers, and I find them incredibly fun. This was a fairly decent platformer, especially for being made in 72 hours. I've got a couple gripes: 1. When you start playing, or when you die, you don't spawn in front of a heater. Thus, you'll constantly die unless you move quickly. It feels kind of annoying. 2. There appears to be a pit from which you can't escape in the second screen. There's a trampoline to get out, but it doesn't actually bounce you high enough. INNOVATION: 4.0/5.0 This game has a great concept which is really neat IMHO. I've never seen this in a game before, but I don't feel that it's completely fleshed out yet, so I'm giving this a 4/5. THEME: 3.0/5.0 The game actually fits the theme quite well; as I said before, I've never really seen a platformer / rhythm game executed in this way. However, to me it feels like the rhythm aspect is kind of tacked on. GRAPHICS: 4.5/5.0 The graphics in this game are excellent. I'm very fond of Celeste-style pixel art, and consequently I love the art in this game. It's really well-drawn. Nice job with this. AUDIO: 5.0/5.0 Where the graphics excel, the audio excels even better. As is to be expected from a rhythm game, the music is great. It adds a lot of atmosphere to the snowy mountain aesthetic the game has. OVERALL: 4.0/5.0 Where this game falls short with its gameplay, it more than makes up for it in atmosphere. This is the kind of platformer like Celeste and Cave Story that I could get sucked into if it was longer and had a story. Nice job.

Yeah, I probably should have lowered the green slime's health. You actually need to attack 20 times. Thankfully, turns only take a few seconds, so it should take about a minute. You also need to kill 6 slimes to initially level up. At least it makes the game last a little longer, so you don't get the OP powers right from the start. Thanks for the feedback, though!

This is a really great game! I just don't feel like it fits with the theme very much. The graphics are excellent, and the game creates a nice, happy mood. The game was really fun. Also, the audio was better than what I can do, although it seemed kind of monotonous after a while. Also, I think that it would be nice if you could access the controls from ingame. All in all, nice job! I think this could become something big.
