Strong AI This was a pretty fun little game. It wouldn't have really worked without the sounds though. :P It was a bit on the easy side, would've liked a challenge. Getting to kill your coworkers was a nice little detail. :P
Mondrian Very nice puzzle game and it was quite fun to play. Felt like the levels got too hard almost instantly, up until then it was quite enjoyable. (throwing impossible levels at us isn't fun anymore!) The gameplay is actually surprisinly deep.
Trivial Escape from Minimalist Island Quite nice, actually made me want to finish. The graphics have a nice style. Maybe turning to the side could've been a bit more obvious, but mostly it felt intuitive. Short though. :/
Things on Top of Other Things Very nice game, this one is actually one of the few I wanted to finish. Good mechanic with a nice implementation. A few nice levels in between. Sometimes misclicks were a bit harsh since the only way you could continue was to reset, maybe an undo button would've been nice. Great job though!
Of Robots & Groglots Very well done on the game! Really cool graphics and the gameplay is mostly good. I didn't like the fact that the ship slowed down when it got closer to the centre of the level. I guess the angular velocity (or whatever it's in English) was constant or something, but it didn't really work for me.
Still Pond A wonderful little game, with the best humor up until now. :D Almost like duck hunt but with better graphics, audio and texts. The only thing that bothered me was that the game didn't really tell you if you failed, it just reseted. Really good job, though!
Pixelman 3 Well made basic platformer. Putting even the sounds into one file is totally wacko, so extra points for that. :D <br/> <br/>The graphics did their job and the sounds were nice, without being too annoying. Some spots in the levels were designed really well. The main problem with the game is that there isn't really anything we haven't seen before.
Minimaze A very nice concept and the implementation is decent. A shame there aren't more levels. The green patches were somehow a bit unintuitive in the way they worked. The game is relatively fun to play. :)
Block Picker 1.0 – final, timelapse Pretty fun to play, albeit very simple. The hit boxes were a bit annoying and misleading. Good for a game made in 4 hours, but I felt disappointed you didn't use all 48 to make something even better.
warrior A fun little game in a virtua cop kind of way. The controls were a bit iffy since intuition told me that it should shoot where you're clicking. Good music and nice graphics. :)
Sailor A pretty nice game. Great idea and the implementation isn't too bad either. Maybe the water particles could've been a bit smaller so the boat would've leaked more "realistically" and I would've liked being able to draw the boat with a few more pixels. Should be able to retry. Good job though, it was quite fun to play!
redgate Quite minimalistic indeed, but surprisingly fun. A simple game to pass time with. Not necessarily that hard to make though. :P
Tiny Hawk final release The controls were a bit iffy, I would've liked a second button that you'd hold when you're grinding or something and just one generic for jumping. Nice graphics and sounds. Somehow the game tempo seemed too fast at times, while at times you had to wait to get into position for your next jump. Maybe that's just something you have to do when skating though. :P
minimalist entry The parts that were made were really well polished. Some cool plot twists, definitely shows that you have put thought in this. The menus were a bit sluggish on my machine, but that might not be your fault. :P
Typoworm Nice little game, great idea for the controls. The production quality is good: the game runs smoothly, the graphics are ok and it's not buggy. Good job!
Exxon – The decontaminator Cool idea and gameplay. Was a bit boring after the dust settled. The graphical style was quite nice. I didn't seem to get into level mode, for some reason. The islands in the middle of oil spills kinda threw me off, too. Overall a pretty good package anyways. :)
GBGames presents Minimalist – the The audio and graphics do a good job of creating a sense of urgency, but is there a time limit for completing a level? If not the game requires patience instead of dexterity, and I think this game definitely goes into the genre of dexterity games, so it's kinda weird. Quite fun to play though. :)
dots This is the type of game powerheads at big firms play when they're braindead. Really great as a way to pass a few minutes and blow off steam. (or get steamed while trying to beat your own high score) Would've probably been even more fun for me if the blue balls would've healed you up, so you can go on for longer.
entry – Minim Madness Drawing was much too difficult to make it enjoyable, maybe just drawing simple lines would've been nicer. A cool idea though and when you finally get something drawn it works well.
The Butler Did It Very nice implemetation, other than the random crashes on startup. Making a murder mystery generator like this in 48 hours is quite an accomplishment. Nice graphichal style.
Too minimal for a name… Was fun, except for having to change resolutions to pass the puzzles. This definitely needs physics that aren't frame rate dependent. (seems like the slower my game ran the smaller the gravitational force was... wtf?) The graphics are pretty nice and good job integrating a physics engine into the game. Shame it didn't work out perfectly, would've been a lot more fun. :/
Mininode Pretty nice idea for a game, shame it doesn't really get any further than the first "two" levels. I really would've liked some more levels. Maybe next time!
Title Unknown Nice game with great music. The game didn't really run well on my computer, and it minimized itself regularly for some reason. I couldn't see the end screen at all since it minimized every time I tried to start it up again. (might be just my computer though). Cool particle effects. :P
The white gazelle laughs maniacally Didn't run on my computer even after installing all the dependencies. :(
WORLDMAKER Pretty simple and there isn't really much gameplay, but I guess at least the "script" is okay. :)
Castle Adventure A bit unbalanced in the way that battles are too hard when you don't have a bow and trivial when you have one. Otherwise a very nice game. GREAT TIMELAPSE! :)
win32.dll The Game A great overall package. Everything seems to be polished quite well. Nice subliminal messages in the menu. Nice BSOD. Nice everything! One of the best entries, definitely.
Framed! v1.1 Released Quirky idea and requires quite a lot of thinking. The music was wonderfully mysterious and it matched with the name. The game feels really polished, since even the lose text has a frame in it and the theme is consistent. Very good job on this one! :)
Final Submission Really well polished game. Liked the stats at the end of the run and the random tips on the bottom of the screen (even though they were a bit small for reading them while shooting at the same time :)). Some of the ships weren't graphically practical in the way that you weren't able to see where you were aiming at all times. That would've maybe made the gameplay feel a bit more direct. Really liked the leveling up idea.
Brainwave A nice idea for the controls and it works relatively well, maybe the steps could've been smaller to allow finer adjustments to the height. I gave you a high score in audio just because the idea of the "music" was so great, not because it wasn't annoying. :P Wasn't really that exciting to play.
MinMo LD11 Very well made, real attention to detail on the flowers etc. :) I noticed I was "waiting" quite a lot while playing the game, which wasn't all that fun. The sounds were a bit annoying, but they were great for the atmosphere, and I give you an A for effort on those. Overall a pretty nice game. :P
Yeah, ThingGo is a go go! Very nicely made. The way it's has puzzles and action at the same time without being too stressful is quite nice. The movement feels very smooth.
miniPals Nice idea to make the game cooperative this way. Felt like the levels were a bit easy and maybe there could've been more of them. The sound effects were nice. At times the physics seemed a bit weird.
Simple Dungeon Really like the fact that actions are contextual, you only have to know the arrow keys. Really nice descriptions on the tiles, too (I could almost imagine the paths I was walking on!). Thought the monsters had a bit too much HP, making the battles a bit tedious. Gave a low score in graphics not because the graphics were simple (duh, minimalist) but because they didn't necessarily do their job. Had trouble finding the way through the wall for instance because w is surprisingly similar to W.
(T+48:48) Final Entry: BlockOut v0.LD48_11 For some reason I can't manage to run this. :(
Title Unknown while(competitionRunning){ <br/> putAllMyEnergyIntoWritingAJournal(); <br/>} <br/>return aProgramThatIsNotReallyAGameAndAReallyWellWrittenJournal();
Spacbattle is done-ish Cannot run. :/ <br/> <br/>Same problems as sgstair. Also seems like you're missing packages from the win32 release since it throws different errors than running from the source.
CGA Quest Really good theme in the game, really feels oldschool. :) Quite a nice idea on the game mechanic too. The level design was perhaps a bit hard, but 48 hours doesn't really leave you a lot of time to playtest these things so it's ok. :P
Battle Magic Done! The final result looks very different from the early screenshots. The game was quite fun to play, even though sometimes the choices you had were pretty unfair. Took a surprising amount of strategy, since the AI is quite good, too. Good job! :)
Game I thought the tails the blocks had made it look really great. Really loved the death sound too. Cool idea with pretty nice physics, sometimes the blocks would jump around quite unfairly though. At times it felt like shooting the red blocks made it more difficult to stay alive than not shooting them.
Kill ALL Life!!! Looks quite good and original, but it doesn't really give you any info if you're doing well or not, or if you really are even doing anything. Great readme. :)
Cowbell Hero First of all, nice readme, gave me the info I wanted in a well-written package. Very stylish menus. The syncing didn't really work for me - the notes continued staying off-beat. Very cool and subtle humor involved. :P
Divine Asteroid Showdown Quite a nice little game you have here. I felt like the shielding and wand waving would've both been enough on their own, having them both retracted from the experience. I liked it when I had to shield two planets at the same time, although the positioning of the planets was a bit unfair. The music complemented the game quite well (it actually worked with the god theme you had :P)
“Desktop Rox” Really love the way it looks. Great job! Would've liked if the screen wrapped around. Good physics on the ship. Pretty simple as a game, but very impressing technically. I think this is one of the entries that will spawn the most discussion even after the competition.
The Minimizing knight Was hard getting it to work, resulting in the polish score I gave being low. Nice idea, but the gameplay is pretty simple. Good job on the physics though. :)
Leap , at least it’s something… Nice graphics and the physics are ok, except for the collision detection at times (which is quite unenjoyable). Pretty minimal gameplay, but it could've been nice with levels or a score meter and proper collisions. Pretty nice work, learning new stuff this fast. :)
Omnihunter Really would've needed the background to be enjoyable. I really enjoy these kinds of games and this is no exception. Somehow it just felt sluggish to play, since the graphics didn't really support the gameplay.
MiniMall A great small sandbox "game" (more of a tech demo really, though). The AI seems quite well written (or then you've just explained it's randomness well ;)). Had some trouble expanding the floor, it wasn't really working as easily as I thought it would. A pretty nifty idea, but I'm not sure if it's a game yet. Would be great if you developed this further. The name is a nice pun. :)
Space Stuff Trader Quite hard to control, maybe everything shouldn't be realistic. :) Also I had real trouble surviving any of the gigantic rushes the enemy made with a gazillion bullets. The screen could've been a bit bigger, since even when full screen the texts are blurry.
Circle conquest Quite a nice game here. The mechanic is really good, although it's a prime example of a slippery slope. Drag selection would've been nice since clicking on a unit was pretty troublesome (especially since it didn't register all the clicks). Also charging with the king was quite an anticlimax since he just trodded right through the enemy castle without actually doing anything. :P
Dot2doT A nice idea for a puzzle game and the basics of the game work pretty well. I found it a bit random to my tastes though, since you couldn't really see much where you were going before you were screwed. Nice song choice for the time lapse. :)
As good as it is going to get A cool idea, I'm really surprised all these people don't have facebook accounts. Shame the game didn't work in Opera, so I had to start up mozilla all for this! The game is pretty nice. I died though, and it didn't really tell me anything. :P Battling rats was quite exciting but it seems like you'll have to kill a shitload of them to develop your character. (EDIT: after reading some of the other comments it seems like I've played an updated version, since for me all the hit and attack texts worked nicely, this is a bit of a problem with facebook apps since I can't really test the 48h version)
Color eater Really nice idea with the mouse control scheme, could've been a bit more user-friendly though. The content started repeating itself pretty fast, maybe the game just wasn't right for the control mechanic.
Title Unknown A great idea and it's quite fun to play. A bit slow to my tastes, though. Good job on the music. Would've been a really enjoyable game if the tempo was a bit faster.
Marginal Ungolf Spectacle A shame this didn't become a real game, really well made physics (would've enjoyed playing some "real" levels). Nice music and graphics.
Micro Macro At first I thought the circles would chain like they do in everyday shooter, but then they didn't. Pretty minimalistic game in the sense that it doesn't really have a point to it other than scoring points. Doesn't really motivate to play more, though.
Col-4 I really would've liked the preview in the 48h version, I think it's the thing that would've helped the fun factor the most. The turning is a really great idea. At first I thought (/hoped) it would've turned the whole playing field, though.
final version of my game Probably quite nice with two players. Maybe the nice gravity gameplay would've shone through a bit better if the game was slower paced. Nice AI and bullet effects. :)
Title Unknown The pictures sometimes don't update propery, which is a letdown, since it's actually quite critical for the game. Can't really say anything proper about the AI, but it did beat me (maybe luck, maybe skill :P). A pretty simple and old game idea here, not really anything new.
The Hunt for Pepsi Blue Really loved the theme of the game, "really well written". :P Also the audio was really well done in the timeframe given. The controls were a bit weird and sometimes it seemed like the movement of the other "vehicles" was a bit buggy, but otherwise a pretty nice package. :)
RPG Battle Simulation Pretty nice idea, but I had big trouble running the game. For some reason on my computer the game started crashing when the blue flan type monster came on the screen and/or I tried to heal. After that it wouldn't go past the title screen without crashing. :(
There Is No Screwdriver The input being case sensitive really bothered me. Good job on making the amount of different things you can do quite big. Somehow I didn't get a sense of direction in this game and it took me a few tries to even realize which command I should use on what.
http://blahwebstorage.googlepages.com/Game.html Pretty nice implementation of a pretty used idea. Definitely needs instructions to go with it. Did the motherships really take a million bullets to get killed or what? :P
Title Unknown Cool idea. The physics were a bit buggy but what bothered me the most was that when dropping down you really didn't have a clue whether it would be game over or whether there was a level below that you needed to drop on in order to go further. Also the menu should've been usable with the mouse if the game requires you to click, or else the game should've been playable with the keyboard too (which in this case would've been trivial to implement).
Title Unknown Pretty simple, but nice job learning a new thing this weekend! :) The house got built way too slowly and sometimes the blocks fell down in unfair patterns. Also the background and the rest of the graphics didn't really match together, necessarily.
minimalist rts Great options screen. :P A shame you weren't able to finish this, could've been quite nice. If you were to finish the game I'll be sure to play it then. :)
Origami Wars Having an installer was kinda overkill for this small a game. Definitely needs instructions since I didn't really get the point of the game (are you supposed to only move or is there a button for shooting, too?). Pretty basic idea for the gameplay. Very nice menus though. :)
Steroids No mac. Nice screenshots though. :/
Casey is ready to rock (kind of) Couldn't run. <br/> <br/>Very nice readme though. :)
