LD40 — The more you have, the worse it is

Slum Lord by Josh Ayres 2017-12-23T03:09:33Z

Money drops too fast before you get to understand how things work in the game. The lack of visual feedback also makes it a little difficult to tell if buttons are working. The control scheme could be simplified, lets say, put the buttons nearer to each other and put some kind alphabet in front of what the houses need. This makes it a bit less tedious to check out the controls everytime a new icon pops. The icons aren't so clear to what they are as well which add to the problems. This is a solid submission so good job on this.

Mage : Arena by mactinite 2017-12-05T08:51:12Z

The game is quite challenging to play, I like it. Though I would have preferred to have some sound effects and it is really quiet. Overall, you could make this into a full game if you brushed up the controls.

Making Ends Meet by nander 2017-12-05T15:16:29Z

Good try, this game needs a lot more work. For one it needs more audio and visual feedback. The control scheme is confusing as sometimes I rotate in ways I don't recall telling it to. The goal is a bit unclear as to how much money you need to complete the game. Also I can't tell if my fire has successfully killed the dwarves. Good luck with future stuffs ;)

Bot Blockade by RetroSpecter 2017-12-05T14:16:01Z

Interesting start, great colors and art. Only problem i see is the progression, it's really hard to get a chance to overwhelm the incoming blocks from the start. Probably slow it down even more from the beginning then increase it faster later on, I think. That's just me lol. Good luck in your future games.

Christmas Attack by CamCam 2017-12-05T10:44:48Z

One improvement i could think of is to add the center dot so i know where to shoot. Also the fact that the ball is shot slightly away from the center, its hard to hit anything without readjusting ur screen after initial shot. Overall, seems like a fun christmas theme game.

Hasempfeffer by fishbrain 2017-12-05T14:39:34Z

Nice game, the art seems slightly inconsistent. The sound effects are great, except the fox sound. That one kinda hurts my ears a little bit. Good work!

Power and Reaction by Murilo 2017-12-07T07:48:39Z

The loud and unedited voice over is a little annoying, especially when you died a lot, I'm sure you'll do fine without voice over, no? The control is slightly tighter than most games on LD40, but I would've preferred that when you get hit, you don't turn towards the enemy that hits you. And locking you to a single direction when you shoot makes the control slightly less responsive (still better than most). Also I didn't like that you cannot exit the game unless you kill it from the task manager. Overall, great idea, but implementation could have been better.

Relyk by ThePelranthean 2017-12-06T05:24:10Z

Game wont boot at all for me, not sure why. Nothing happens when I run the exe.

NTOZ 2 by Mack101dog 2017-12-05T11:09:49Z

The game feel is off here, I dunno if I'm hitting the enemy, or that i have to reload, etc. Best way is to use audio and probably put the text at the center of the screen. Otherwise, great 3D menu.

In the Hall of the Swine King by josehzz 2017-12-05T08:42:19Z

Great art! The scanlines are a pretty cool aesthetic, although it might be a bit too intrusive. There is a huge lack of animations for a lot of things making the combat feel very weak. The controls were a bit wonky and the range of the attack is too short. I couldn't tell if the enemies are attacking or not( the shooting ones were fine). There is a lack of audio for a lot of things so it made those movements feel week as well. Good luck for your next work.

Overcome by Darkness by ueki_shurei2006 2017-12-07T06:47:30Z

I think most of the issues comes from having to awkwardly wait for your slow animation to play before you can start moving. Having the animation plays faster and maybe allow hurt animation while you are moving are certainly more helpful. Also try having your player attacks at the direction the mouse is pointing to instead of the direction of your player. This sometimes causes confusion because the player keeps attacking at wrong direction. Other than that, this is a pretty good idea for a game, and at least your game works better than most of the people's games I've played.

Dangle Copter by pkenney 2017-12-05T07:40:31Z

Pretty great game, the fact that this game did not have a timer or any way to die made it so much more fun. The controls were great. It was a hilarious premise. I would suggest finding a better color scheme for this, the monotonous blue got boring quite quickly. Background music would make the game not sound so dead as well. Overall, this was a really fun entry, especially the 2nd last one were you have to go down a ditch. That put me on edge all the way through haha.

Travel Light by Shivur 2017-12-07T07:04:15Z

Idea is good, the game flow is there and has good balance between player skill and difficulty. However, I think the hitbox is a little too small, so picking up items requires you to be directly on top of it, rather than just touching it. Also, I swear I pressed Space a few times and nothing happened? I died because of that.

Bomb Robot by BoxedMeatRevolution 2017-12-05T05:41:54Z

Interesting concept, I would prefer if you were given more time to move around. Sometimes you'd get stuck around a corner and you're just screwed over. It was a bit hard to figure out which bomb was gonna be dropped first, a better visual aid to show that would be nice.

I thought I was dropping the bomb on the top the first time around. More visual feedback to make the game feel more stronger would be nice, like some screenshake would be nice.

More animations would be great as well. I couldn't get past the 3rd level unfortunately, it was a bit frustrating since I'd just explode before I could try anything.

The bomb's number is a bit tiny as well, which also adds to the frustration of trying to discern what's written on it. Good job and good luck with your future stuffs

Chuck Norris will Make America Great Again by paulhocker 2017-12-07T07:19:28Z

Capture.PNG

The enemy just wont die, I've hit him for so long now.

Capture1.PNG

Well killed him, so the game ends here?

I think there is some inconsistency with the control. When I picked up the gun, I can just hold down Ctrl. And even when im switched back to kicking, I can hold it down. But once I've picked up the knife, now I have to spam hitting Ctrl to attack, even when back to kicking. I think its best to just allow holding down Ctrl as spamming it makes my fingers hurt and tired. There are also some inconsistency with sound effects. Only the kicking has sound effects. Also, the enemy takes so long to kill, the HP bar is practically updated by the tiniest amount of pixels. Overall, good effort.

Slightly annoying traffic by JOrbits 2017-12-05T10:27:14Z

Great game! The only complaint that it is very light on gameplay. I like how the game just simulates the traffic with a lot of physics. Graphic is definitely very well done.

PimpSim by Jaacob 2017-12-05T05:25:26Z

Very solid game, the only thing is that I wish it would tell you the direction of where your hoes are in danger. It wasn't very clear if the hoes had STDs or not either. Maybe I did not get em the last few times. Also there was no incentive in earning money from what I can tell. Unless of course, I've been missing the chances of buying meds or something. Good entry and good luck in future stuffs.

Deleted by Strelly 2017-12-07T08:13:24Z

The game is pretty challenging, though I didn't truly understand what the rules meant until I actually played it and failed instantly lol. I'll say it would help if there is any visual or audio feedback to indicate that a factory needs to be clicked on, that would be fun. Overall, A very well done game, great job with the engine.

Identity by Kataware 2017-12-07T08:54:50Z

The world you've built certain looks nice. It looks like something out of an action adventure game. However, probably everyone has noticed it, the character randomly tilts down, sometimes even get stuck on the floor and I had to jump to keep moving. The visual and presentation is good, but still not polished enough. There are some serious lack of audio feedback and the UI looks really basic. Overall, I think if you had more time to work on this game, it would be great. The idea is great btw.

Traffic Jammers by jushiip 2017-12-05T10:10:51Z

You know your game is good when i gave it a perfect 5 star for everything lol

The game is very innovative and original, and requires strategy to create the jammiest traffic ever.

Overall this is a great casual game quality

Dungeon Boy! by nardandas 2017-12-06T08:11:31Z

The game needs more polish, the controls are really tight, I like it. It's impressive on the amount of modelling you guys made in such a short time. The game lacks a goal as well as I have no incentive to constantly grab more gold. Good work though.

Go-Ned Re-education by devmax 2017-12-05T07:00:35Z

Pretty amazing visuals, I would prefer if the game would stay fullscreen. Since this is unity, the dialog box to select the screen resolution would've been great because every time I restart the game, I would have to toggle the fullscreen again. Also it would be great if the tutorials wont trigger every time you start the game. It got a little annoying after dying a couple of times. I wish the ducks would be constantly chasing you, sometimes they clutter at a location which makes it extra annoying when you cant guide them elsewhere. Also I noticed that my character will sometimes get pushed to the side by some invisible force. Otherwise this was a really good entry. Congrats on finishing it and good luck with your future games :D

Mini Mod by Riker Greenslade 2017-12-06T08:47:44Z

It's amazing on how much you guys managed to get done. The art is amazing. The downsides I can say for certain is that if you're controlling the menu using a controller, it's hard to tell which one is selected. Also the audio feels really weak when fighting enemies. The music cue for killing things is pretty cool but it didn't match well with a hit of a sword. Also the attack animations don't feel strong, adding weapon trails for it will help. I also found a lack of use for the dash mechanic as well. There is also a lack of visual feedback for when you are hit as well. Overall, great job and hopefully you guys will continue this.

The Invasion of Robots by Swifttech 2017-12-06T05:59:37Z

The game's pretty bland but good job building it from scratch.

Cursed Knight by Particles GameStudio 2017-12-06T08:38:45Z

Very good art, a heavier visual feedback will be great. Hitting enemies dont feel so good. Also I think a longer hit range would be great since the enemies move kinda too fast for the hit range. More sound effects would be cooler as well. Good work!

Flowers + Bombs by justking144 2017-12-07T08:33:13Z

The game is super laggy and choppy, I couldn't move my mouse faster because of it. And the fact that you had to quickly click on the flower as fast as you can makes the game unplayable. I can see that this could be a very fun and reflex-based game, but its so hard to play the game when you are getting 1 frame per 2 seconds.

Ocean Explorer by Emery 2017-12-07T07:59:44Z

Great game and great idea! I think you can make this into a finished game and probably target it for casual game market. The harpoon is a little slow to shoot, and there isn't any audio feedback to know if I dropped the treasure off, or getting attacked by shark. Overall, great idea that is worth exploring.

Gold, gold ,gold by JesperSB 2017-12-05T08:40:59Z

The control is really weird and sluggish. It's a weird combination of tank control with top down shooter control. I dont think you probably need to control the lighting up and down?

Goonisher by aaforcebox 2017-12-05T09:49:13Z

The control is a little less responsive, overall good effort

Stacks O' Cats by Lumous 2017-12-05T14:52:12Z

really adorable game, theme fits with it. It pretty much does what it means to do. Only downside is the collision for the wall. They block you at from the top of the wall. Good luck making future games :D

Invasion of The Bugs by Scout 2017-12-05T09:11:45Z

Is it weird that I have not encountered any bugs after playing for so long? Anyway I think you could make a mining game out of this. Could be good potential.

Don't Kill The Zombies! by Lestat 2017-12-07T08:43:42Z

The zombie takes a little too much hits to kill, and added with the slow movement and the constant need to reload, it gets a little tedious. And you can pickup HP even when ur HP looks full, unless from what I suspect, the HP bar is not representative of how many HP you actually have internally. There are some visual feedback that you are hitting the zombie, but once ur in the water, the water obscures the visual, so its hard to see if I'm hitting the zombies on the water or not. I think the best improve is to have zombies with lesser HP and thus it becomes faster to be overwhelmed by zombies and make the game shorter.

Mine Games by danman113 2017-12-05T08:34:32Z

I like the simplistic graphic, its easy to see everything. The control is a little clunky, and the ball bounces in unexpected way, did you use physics engine? Overall great effort.

Mine Games by danman113 2017-12-05T08:34:32Z

(Double posted)

Yuri's Planties by yuripiano 2017-12-05T11:01:08Z

I think even limiting yourself to 4 rocks, this is still pretty simple. A restart button would be preferable.

RedCell by kkneville 2017-12-06T08:20:51Z

This is a very good first try for a game. Good job for finishing it as well! So here are some issues. 1. You can't jump diagonally, it makes the controls feel like stuck if you get what I mean.

2. The blue platforms are generally kinda useless if you think about it, if they cant be stepped on and don't serve any other purpose, there should be no reason to put it in imo.

3. The bounce effect when you hit the ground is nice but it prevents you from jumping immediately, it kinda makes the game feel clunky so I don't think it should affect the movement.

4. Sometimes when you hit the ground next to a green tile, you die anyway. It is pretty misleading.

5. Sounds would be a great addition to this game

The art is pretty adorable so again good job and hope you keep making more games :D

@jushiip <3 loved ur game too

TECHNOCIDE by NikorasuChan 2017-12-07T23:11:28Z

Huge thanks for the informative feedback everyone. Now we know where to take this to now :D

The Speed of Greed by C1FR1 2017-12-07T06:56:26Z

The game needs some animation, otherwise everything looks static and very WIP-ish. Is this your first game? Don't worry, we were like you 5 years before, so don't give up. I'll say start by programming more games and learn how people did it, learn how to prioritize features and time. Simplest way is to join every LD compo and probably mini-compo as well. Overall, great effort.

The worse it is by Fugu 2017-12-06T10:00:47Z

The bullet needs to shoot faster and maybe lesser spread. There are some missing audio that could give more feedback to the player, such as reloading. I would prefer the bullet to be more like hitscan as that would give the bullet a better game feel. Other than that, this is a fun and challenging small game.

Dead Weight by Marc Jones 2017-12-07T08:06:17Z

This is definitely a quite well done game, why aren't you getting more votes? Ah well, the game was pretty fun and addictive, the graphics are done well, the audio is quite good and the idea is great too. I really don't have much complaint except that I think the ship is a little slow.

Swampman by TylerCode 2017-12-05T10:54:42Z

The game ends a little too fast. I tried a lot of times, still doesn't get it. You should allow people to restart the game.

Crystal Seeker by CapitanRetraso 2017-12-05T09:07:52Z

Very solid design, I would prefer if the charge time was faster, or at least exponential. Waiting for it to recharge was tedious.

Theme - The Game by Cubeeo 2017-12-07T07:30:25Z

I don't really like the audio spamming, tho the hidden game behind it is a pretty cool idea. But if only this has higher production quality, rather than just spamming random audio. Also the the audio is still playing even after the game restarts. Considering you are using Construct 2, and that you've decided to make the game based on all the themes in the final round, you should have way more time to implement things. But in this case, its something that I could pull off in way lesser time.

Your Land by Mighty CheBo 2017-12-05T10:09:43Z

This has potential, the idea of trying to save your world over and over. Perhaps you can try to work on this. So far there isn't a goal so I can't say much about it. The game sure requires a lot of polish. Good luck in future games.

Coffee Break by Akscan 2017-12-07T08:28:54Z

The low-poly art certainly looks good. However, I didn't like that every bar looks like a slider knob (that you can't control). The loud footstep gets really annoying after a while, I suggest you to decrease the volume, at least that minimizes the problem. There is a huge lack of feedback for when your inventory is full, and I had to constantly look down to see if its full. The coffee screen effect after you drank it doesn't fill up my screen (it fills up a small portion of my screen in the center, and my screen resolution is 1920x1080). The coffee doesn't even help that much at all, probably will need some rebalancing, and there is no indication of how much I can drink before I die (discount the redder screen, which again, only fills up a portion of the screen). Finally, its hard to mine the stone because it is very picky about where im looking at before it allows me to interact with it. Overall, good effort.

Librood by Aihasto 2017-12-06T15:50:49Z

Amazing art for this one, the interactive storytelling is great, but I think it's just so vague to the point where it's the story just feels non-existent. However it does what it's supposed to do so good work overall.

Theme wise, I didn't see it as it getting worse as the more she reads instead things were actually kinda pretty which actually made things better lol. I like where this was going though

Video Games by Bastienre4 2017-12-05T09:32:11Z

I feel my brain splitting. This is very solid, I honestly cant find anything wrong with this one. It works so well with the jam. This is suitable as a full project. Good job

ISS Strike by IDEA_Games 2017-12-07T11:33:03Z

The concept is pretty good, just avoid getting hit by rotating. You should probably start thinking about making this into a full game.

riskREWARD by Siepiau 2017-12-05T15:50:07Z

Has potential, it was hard to avoid the bullets. Kinda got a bit frustrating. Good effort tho.

Hairball by instantnoedel 2017-12-06T08:22:23Z

I got a virus warning from windows defender, not sure if intentional but I can't play this game because of that sorry.

LD42 — Running out of space

Close Dawn - A claustrophobic Survival Shooter by NikorasuChan 2018-08-15T17:10:15Z

@kciwsolb Yeh same here dude, almost gave up making FPS for WebGL. Definitely avoiding making FPS for WebGL again for the meantime lol.

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Kickstart Minecart by Elemental Zeal Game Studios 2021-04-27T14:31:38Z

A surprisingly nice looking game! I had difficulty getting used to the controls, I think it would massively improve the game feel if the axe are more responsive and not constantly get stuck. But yes, this could be a good mobile game.

ChronorhC by NikorasuChan 2021-04-26T15:22:26Z

@koalatte I used Bosca Ceoil software, used SiON Drumkit and Square Wave instruments, randomly placed notes for drum until it sounds good. As for Square Wave, I switched to Harmonic Minor scale, randomly placed few notes until it sounded good as well. The entire process took few minutes because I was in a rush.

ChronorhC by NikorasuChan 2021-04-27T00:29:50Z

@koalatte Hey, no problems mate 😉

ChronorhC by NikorasuChan 2021-05-06T14:11:25Z

@dimlight Yo, I was surprised how similar our games are. I thought we were the only ones who make this kind of game.

Untitled Simulator by Eugenik 2021-04-28T03:02:25Z

Very interesting topic. I feel like I'm cheating because I already knew some of Hitler's backstories, but it was cool.

I think you really should either make repeated talks skippable, or better yet, maybe use knowledge database system (kinda like an RPG inventory system where you can choose a topic to say). Also, I wanted to see the healing portion and how Hitler could slowly heal from his traumas.

This was certainly both a funny and interesting entry for this Ludum Dare. Good job!

LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

Bloody Battle by dib 2018-04-24T21:11:24Z

First off, the eerie atmosphere with weird creatures and sounds is definitely very immersive, though I would've preferred more sound effects to indicate that I'm being hit for instance. One improvement I can see is to allow player to have complete 360 degree of shooting angle as you currently can't shoot directly above you or below you, however this can be remedied by moving around. Overall, very nice graphics, and the atmosphere is good. There is a good potential for a full game here if you decide to complete it.

Click to Not Die by ueki_shurei2006 2018-04-24T17:09:46Z

A clicker idea with potential. You should probably add things that automate click, for instance, looking for survivors to help you craft. Also, clicking on cow and only yielding 1 fullness takes a really long time, I suggest increasing the amount as it can get tiring clicking on cow. Otherwise, this is a good effort, keep it up!

War Games by Matthew McClure 2018-04-24T18:48:50Z

Pretty interesting assortment of games using tanks. I'm having fun playing them. Feels kinda like the old 20 games in 1 game cartridge, but its concept is unique.
