What a great vibe. Fun game (although I hurt too many ducks D:), with a cool aesthetic and great atmosphere.

devmax 2017-12-05 04:10

@ahintoflime Thanks man, really glad you liked it!

beardedmoose 2017-12-05 04:13

I liked it, Soooo many ducks though. The screen wrap effect was nifty too.

mao 2017-12-05 04:16

Good use of the theme! Two main points of criticism I have: - The cursor position doesn't align with the target position - No health pickups or regeneration, so if you fail late then you have to start all over again (although I still managed to beat it in one try)

Positive points: - Wonky controls contribute to the mood - Quack

devmax 2017-12-05 04:53

@beardedmoose - Thanks man! That screen wrap effect was really extreme when I first made it and I had to tone it down to not get nauseous while making the game heh

@mao - Awesome man! thanks for the breakdowns. That cursor align bug has been the bane of my existence for the hour before submission, couldn't get it right so had to use just one resolution. Will try and fix. I agree health picks ups might be a good idea but then again, you're trying to reenter society, its bound to be hard :)

Pretty amazing visuals, I would prefer if the game would stay fullscreen. Since this is unity, the dialog box to select the screen resolution would've been great because every time I restart the game, I would have to toggle the fullscreen again. Also it would be great if the tutorials wont trigger every time you start the game. It got a little annoying after dying a couple of times. I wish the ducks would be constantly chasing you, sometimes they clutter at a location which makes it extra annoying when you cant guide them elsewhere. Also I noticed that my character will sometimes get pushed to the side by some invisible force. Otherwise this was a really good entry. Congrats on finishing it and good luck with your future games :D

'Still too violent will make my DARLING SON Christopher become a PHYSCHO DRUG KILLER or a CRIMINAL FELON ban this game now!!' - Moms Against Violent Computer Games

Seriously enjoyed the TV aesthetic, reminds me a lot of Fallout's Pipboy.

zax 2017-12-05 08:41

i liked the style and the models in the game keep it up! don't forget to check out my game too :)

devmax 2017-12-05 09:12

@nikorasuchan Awesome feedback man! Having the ducks kinda block and sorta anger you is part of the treatment but actually having them move out of your way is much better. Yeah fullscreen issue is right on point. ##### The invisible force bug after an enemy hits you can be solved by walking into a wall, I know....

@sleepystrix Heh right on, man! The MAVCG is a serious group of moms that shouldn't be messed with. Glad you liked the aesthetic, I dig that myself, kind of a game within a game sort of thing.

@zax - Thanks!

Ducks everywhere. Nice game!

bonelazy 2017-12-05 21:43

Very good mood and use of theme. Good graphics and overall a fun game. Good job

devmax 2017-12-05 23:02

Thanks guys!

@nikorasuchan I fixed the duck moving out of way bug, thanks for that feedback!

wdelvi 2017-12-05 23:10

omg the aesthetic is to die for. Great work!

2017-12-05 23:11

Wow! This game looks awesome! Thumbs up from me1

sarrixx 2017-12-06 10:53

Hahaha the context of this game is so good :P Actually turned out to be way more challenging than I had anticipated, I didn't manage to beat the game until my third try! Awesome job!

indie-gaming 2017-12-06 14:09

Come on over to my channel and see my first impression of your game! https://youtu.be/mk4bOptcqck

devmax 2017-12-06 22:49

@sarrixx Way to go, man. Thanks for playing!

@indie-gaming Thanks a bunch for taking the time to play and record, I really appreciate it! Also, good feedback on the tutorial tips, that's the way I should've done it in the beginning!

velvetlobster 2017-12-07 00:11

I love these games in which you are playing a 2d game inside a 3d game! this has a awesome aesthetics. Love the take on the theme too

devmax 2017-12-07 22:55

@velvetlobster - Thanks man. Glad you liked it!

arly 2017-12-10 02:52

Love this concept, the TV model/screen reflection and the ambient music really nailed the setting for me. The sound effects are hilarious too. I think it felt a bit unfair walking down the hallways where the enemies were shooting bullets down before I could see the enemies themselves (or knew that I could shoot down the bullets). I think the claustrophobic map definitely helped with the gameplay as well. Nice work!

shinyogre 2017-12-10 16:25

Too many ducks! This is a coherent (aesthetically complete) game that is an homage to systems of the past. There is a quirky rehab story literally set outside of the world of the game. A frame within a frame. I adore that kind of thing.

If you were to expand this game I could imagine more games being played of varying genres, but with a "rehabilitation" twist AND you could somehow, through vague indirect means (new model of rehab machine, different style/tone of language for the dialogue boxes that pop up) expand on the rehab theme.

Great work!

jonathan50 2017-12-16 01:32

The window doesn't fit on my 1366x768 screen.

devmax 2017-12-26 20:58

@arly - Thanks man, that's exactly what I was going for! I agree somewhat about the unfair nature of having a bullet come from nowhere if the audio cue is missed.

@shinyogre - That's awesome, man! Totally agree with the more games and telling more of a story, if only LD would do a week long jam heh.

@jonathan50 - That's too bad, is it still playable with most of the screen showing? Also you could try fullscreening it by pressing Alt+Enter. Hope that helps!

jonathan50 2017-12-26 21:22

@devmax Once the game is loaded then I just see a blue sky, yellow horizon, and a whole lot of brown, with some music in the background. I don't know, is 64 MB enough VRAM?

devmax 2017-12-26 22:08

@jonathan50 - That might be it...Sorry it didnt work, man. I've published a making of video, feel free to check it out:

Wow this looks interesting. I really try to play the games posted, but if they're not HTML5 I mostly hesitate a little bit. A HTML5 version would be nice, but I still went ahead and downloaded the game and I really liked it :) Is there a specific reason I can't move diagonally? Also the duckies weren't annoying at all. The more you have the worse it is could've been used much stronger here and letting the quack until your head explodes :)) Kidding aside, I used them as shields against the evil demons!

2017-12-27 18:24

Lovely story and idea! I included it in my Ludum Dare 40 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KVo2wMAhnxM
