LD34 — Two Button Controls / Growing

Nightlight by AgentParsec 2015-12-19T07:45:00

I really love the game. Really had me going for quite a long time. The atmosphere is top notch, and so are the lighting effects. Would love to see an auto/quick save in the future! :)

Milgram by Kortuga 2015-12-14T03:20:00

I really liked this. I didn't get to explore all the endings, but it's pretty good. The only issue is that the controls are a bit tough on the web version, especially when you can't see your mouse cursor. I'm sure it's a limitation of the web version though, so no worries. But all good! Thanks for putting this together!

Left-leaning by tayl1r 2015-12-18T00:18:00

This has been my favorite Ludum Dare game so far. I enjoyed it very much!

Robot Frost Eagle and Worm Big Rescue Adventure by sP0CkEr2 2015-12-19T04:56:00

I like the game. It wasn't clearly evident from the first play through as to what I was supposed to be doing, but I enjoyed doing whatever it was that I was doing, if that makes any sense!

Andi, You're a Star by Dmitrix 2015-12-15T06:09:00

Nice concept. I'm sure that with some additional time and effort it'll become a great game too. Definitely keep working on it!

Realm by Vadinci 2015-12-14T03:11:00

I'll echo dtroyt's sentiment. It really does look very nice. The visuals are great, and everything seems very fluid! I'd strongly suggest working on the "game" part of it though, as it's not clear to me as to what I'm supposed to be doing. :)

Paddle by nucleartide 2015-12-15T06:26:00

Congrats on finishing your first game during LD!

Backwards and Bonkers! by CartoonJenn 2015-12-19T07:13:00

I really liked the graphics and presentation and idea. Would really have liked to have seen more "game" to this though. Maybe more of a challenge, or maybe power ups. Great work though, and nice 3D art as well.

Hyperspace by dekart 2015-12-15T05:46:00

I enjoyed this. I was a bit confused about if you were supposed to aim or not in the beginning, but I figured it out after some time. If there's one suggestion I would make, it would be to just have an auto fire option (since there's unlimited ammo, it seems). That's what I was doing in the game, so it would make more sense if the game just handled firing for you, and you could add another, more interesting, mechanic maybe.

Other than that, I enjoyed it! I also like the music!

Carrion Forge: Fusion Gunship by Dining Philosopher 2015-12-15T06:33:00

This is really fun! This is the best game I've played so far. I really like the modular aspect of building your space ship. Unfortunately, I got so big that the game tried to die on me. But then I just went into super 360 mode and tried killing everything for as long as I could.

The graphics, music, and presentation was also incredible.

Very very nice work! :)

Toy Factory by Xeke_Death 2015-12-18T05:31:00

I like the game, but here's a suggestion for an improvement. If you screw up a robot (like say the first piece), there should be a button or something you could do to speed up the conveyer belt, because it's just too slow by then. If you put that in, it would be perfect, but still very good either way!

Dog Gone Big! by HulkHandsome 2015-12-21T08:09:00

Getting an error, unfortunately. Here's the error, if it helps: http://d.pr/i/14Geg

Breathe by Galvesmash 2015-12-19T04:30:00

I really loved the game. Once you figure out that you can destroy multiple enemies by "drawing" over them when you release the space bar, it's just a ton of fun. I'm sure once you make that more obvious, this will be perfect.

Supreme Collider by LoneStranger 2015-12-15T06:02:00

Pretty nice! The game was very slow on Safari on Mac OS X (but it worked on Chrome), but other than that, everything was pretty cool. I would suggest, however, turning down the "Beep" sound. Kinda hurt my ears the first time.

Planet Gaiardian by GodsBoss 2015-12-18T05:54:00

I didn't have a clue what was going on. I just rapidly pushed the N and U keys, and I won. It looked nice, but it wasn't a very good game.

Ladder Grow by One Seed Fruit 2016-01-04T01:58:00

Nice work. I made it over 500 before I just stopped.

Folkk by Kalinka 2015-12-19T04:45:00

Pretty nice effort. You need to work on the "game" aspect, but other than that, I can see how it would be fun to see my little village grow into a mighty kingdom.

HP or Money by uchiro 2015-12-21T07:36:00

I didn't really understand what was going on while playing. Perhaps an interactive or in-game tutorial would really help, because I just wasn't understanding. Also, your instructions written on the page don't see to be accurate, as right click did nothing for me.

Level Grow Op by swipefaststudios 2015-12-19T04:05:00

The game was interesting. I like how you have to press down, after up, to jump higher. Good work!

Button Bugs by XenosNS 2016-01-04T02:04:00

Pretty interesting concept. It took me a few moments to understand what was going on, but once I finally understood, it was pretty interesting. One improvement could be to make the color and number of dots stand out a bit more and to be more obvious. Also having the combination that you are entering be more in your face would've been handy. Other than that, great work.

CICP : the Center for Interplanetary Pest Control by Robber 2015-12-19T04:14:00

I really enjoyed the game. Very fascinating stuff. I can see that a lot of great work was put into this. Great job!

Light Drifter 34 by Thought Reactor 2015-12-18T02:59:00

Really pretty game, and beautiful sounding as well.

Bonsai Master by xaedes 2015-12-18T05:25:00

The game was pretty good. It's not necessarily my cup of tea, but I can tell, for what it is, that a lot of nice work was put into this, so many kudos to you for your effort!

Cipolletti by psychonull 2015-12-18T05:47:00

The game was a bit difficulty, and it took way too long to get into the action, but I liked the overall concept. I think the execution could have been a bit more polished, but it's far better than what I could have done.

Mighty Paradox Platinum by punkto 2015-12-15T20:48:00

I'm getting "Error parsing file" and "Maximum call stack exceeded errors" on the web version.

Knuspernikus by ruerob 2015-12-15T05:48:00

Unfortunately, the game doesn't load for me. On latest Mac OS with Safari browser. Loading bar gets stuck at around 75%.

The Super Bros (that are not Brothers!) by Xinelu 2015-12-19T06:30:00

This was really cool. I didn't realize that you could press "up" to make them jump. Once I realized that, this became far less frustrating. Good game, overall.

Need For Seed: Undergrowth by RhythmLynx 2015-12-14T04:23:00

This is pretty cool! I like the concept. The only improvement I would suggest is giving a little bit more of a visual indicator of where you're going to start sprouting next, as sometimes you waste some time trying to figure out where you are (also gets worse as more elements are on the screen). But other than that, I really enjoyed it. Kudos to you!

Ortogonalis by pjimmy 2015-12-18T00:24:00

I really enjoyed it. I played it through for a few levels until I got my butt handed to me. Very good work!

Always A Bigger Fish by rantt 2015-12-14T04:18:00

Nice work on your game! I like how you incorporated the "Growing" theme into this. I also liked the sound and such (although it seems to cut off and stop playing once you beat a level or two). Other than that, really good stuff. :)

Stellar Ninja DX by eruiz00 2015-12-15T06:35:00

Not loading for me for some reason. I'm on Safari on OS X. Wouldn't load on LD or via DropBox.

Laser Command by Docjekyll 2015-12-18T05:52:00

This was very fun. I enjoyed it, so good job. One thing I felt that could have been added, or would have just been cool in general, is if I could have fired both lasers at the same time. Maybe just require it to take much longer to charge, but it could combine into a super shot if you have enough time.

Snek - A modern snake clone for millenials by ahmeni 2015-12-15T06:45:00

I was having a bit of difficulty with controlling it, but I'm sure that's intentional. I really liked the music and the simplicity of it all. Very good work!

Boxing Quest by flukeshot 2015-12-19T04:38:00

Really fun game. I wish I had another person here to box with. I also really liked the graphical style to it. Great work!

Lifenodes. by Remicy 2015-12-19T07:03:00

I really liked it.

Electric Dodgeball by ondrejbalas 2015-12-15T06:38:00

Really cool idea of having to hold down both movement buttons to get any movement!

The Artifact by nunesbarbosa 2015-12-19T06:55:00

I really liked this game. I would've liked to have seen keyboard controls as well, as some parts were a bit unnecessarily tough without them. Could be a bit more challenging. I really loved the art style and the presentation, however. Great work!

Shoot Or Don't Shoot by Coomzy 2015-12-19T06:35:00

Pretty good game. I suck at these kind of games, but it was pretty good for what it is. I think it would be even cooler if the enemies and friendlies were randomly generated.

Immortal Growth by Evergreen Games 2015-12-19T06:06:00

This is a really great game. It had me interested from the start. The mechanics were awesome as well. A few tweaks to the physics will see this game being perfect!

Spaceship buttons by celisoft 2015-12-18T05:33:00

I think the game has very good potential. However, the fact that it takes a very long time for your choices to register was a bit concerning.

spin-circle by Modoc73 2015-12-19T07:58:00

High score: 681! I love it. Super addicting, super fun to get into, and definitely has you on the edge of your seat the whole time!

Lumberjacks Must Die: The Story of Treesus by Captain Awesome 2015-12-21T07:41:00

I wasn't really sure what the "game" aspect of this was, but destroying a tank with a tree, and somehow causing blood effects, was kinda interesting in itself.

There's No Going Back by XAND 2015-12-19T05:54:00

Really awesome game. I suck at this style of game, but I just couldn't stop going after I got started. Really great work, and pretty amazing that you included a level editor as well. Great work!

Yggshroom by Ghen 2015-12-19T07:22:00

I really liked the game. I'd suggest adding in a "hard" mode to make it a bit more of a challenge. I really liked the mechanics of the game though, and the graphics were on point.

Blobitronica by crucknuk 2015-12-19T06:13:00

This game is really tense, but fun. It kept me going, and that's really cool. I also like the graphics. But it also had me on the edge of my seat.

AsteroidRage by Six9ty 2016-01-04T07:19:00

I got to level 2. I found it was easiest to just go back and forth rapidly to spray shots, and if I did that and was careful, I could get pretty far. Might want to mix it up to prevent that from being a way to cheese the game. Only other suggestion would be to spawn the asteroids outside of the view if possible. I enjoyed it!

Seeds by puddelipip 2015-12-15T20:52:00

Pretty nice effort with this. Took a few moments to understand what to do. But very nice effort. I also really like how when you hold down the mouse button, it sort of goes into slow motion to allow you to aim. I really liked that.

OSHIYA! PUSH! by inbetweengames 2015-12-21T07:44:00

Looks really awesome from the images. I hope you guys can add in a web or Mac version in the future! :)

PunchBOT by Autovelop 2015-12-21T07:30:00

Wasn't working too well on Safari with Mac. Might be some bugs with unity.

Feed The Hole by krashja 2015-12-19T06:41:00

I liked the game. I enjoyed capturing all the objects. Could probably be a little bit more difficult in some ways, but really a great start.

Plank by Sir Magic 2015-12-19T08:08:00

I really liked the game. Any Safari users might want to check out a non-Web version. The music is amazing, and the concepts are great.

Birds of Borg by emmes 2015-12-15T06:28:00

Nice work. I will say the sound effects in the beginning were quite jarring, especially when I didn't know what was going on. But once I figured it out, the game was actually quite fun. I enjoyed it! Nice work on doing multiplayer too!

Catch the White Rabbit! by danieldsj 2015-12-19T02:10:00

Very nice. One idea to make it feel better would be to set the anchor point of your character's x axis to be at 0.5, and the y axis to be a 1.0 (thus making the anchor at the bottom). I think when you shrink and grow, you do so from the top left of your character. By setting the anchor point in the bottom middle, it would probably be a lot better feeling.

AquaLution by vados 2015-12-21T07:54:00

I think forcing two button controls in this situation really hurt the game, as opposed to help it. Switching the controls isn't interesting, it's just confusing. Also, when I started playing, my fish was going backwards, which really confused me and left a bad first impression. I'd say just skip the two-button controls theme, and normalize the controls, and this would have been great. But as it stands, it was quite frustrating.

The Forces Awakened by MisterAddy 2015-12-19T05:30:00

This was an interesting game to play. I didn't really feel threatened by the enemies. The rocks tended to do more damage than anything. But a really nice attempt at a game. Some more refinement would see it do even better.

Beatz! by PC Ferreira 2015-12-19T06:17:00

Not really sure what's happening. I'm not sure that it's working for me. No sound. On Safari on Mac.

How I Rolled your Snowball: The Ultimate Simulator by vetch 2015-12-18T05:26:00

No source code? :\

The Almighty Spectrum by KoalaBot 2015-12-18T00:06:00

I really enjoyed this game. It's very simple, but the atmosphere gives it a great feeling. Thanks for putting this together!

Bush two buttons by kailijan 2015-12-19T04:00:00

Very nice try for your first attempt. I'd definitely work on expanding the "game" part of the game, but still pretty cool stuff for your first attempt.

Crane to Freedom by mhsco 2015-12-21T08:07:00

I really enjoyed the game. It was insanely addictive. I started playing, and thought I'd give up soon after picking up a few things, but I found myself continuing on. One big improvement I'd really love to see is the ability to trigger the grabber on your own (maybe press both Right + Down buttons at the same time?) to speed things up. But I really enjoyed it, so keep up the great work.

City Strike by PeachTreeOath 2015-12-19T04:51:00

Nice work. It was a little confusing as to what I was supposed to be doing. I think an in-game tutorial would really help this game out. Nice work!

Knitted Fighter by Usanio 2015-12-21T08:10:00

Doesn't seem to be working, unfortunately. Nothing's loading when I visit the website.

Space Cactus by Vosvek 2015-12-21T08:20:00

Really great work for your first game! I really appreciate that you put in audio controls as well. One thing I will say is that I never really felt like I had 100% control of the placement of the marker. I never felt like I could get it perfectly in the middle, and at some points I just felt like I was scrubbing it over the area it needed to be. So some tweaks to the controls to allow more finer grained controls would be appreciated. If you tweak that a bit, I think it'll be an amazing game. Again, great work for your first game. It's far better than my first attempt!

Lumi by AwfulMedia 2015-12-21T08:14:00

Pretty nice attempt, though I wish there was a bit more sense of success. Or maybe some sound would have really made this game very good — having the beat match when the "energy" flows through you.

Tubutten Beetle by YinYin 2015-12-19T07:09:00

I really liked the game. Pretty cool concept of being able to tap while against the wall to go faster. Only "issue" is that it made me a bit motion sick from seeing the graphics on the side. Not sure how you would resolve that, but other than that, it was good.

Metamorphosis by petersbob 2015-12-15T05:52:00

I'm having a lot of difficulty distinguishing the background from the foreground. I just don't really know what I'm doing, because I can't really tell where I should be going. Maybe if you could just intentionally dull the background graphics (dramatically), it would fix the problem.

I liked the sounds though!

Tha Mage by themadknights 2015-12-18T05:39:00

I really enjoyed this. I'm not one for reading a lot of prompts though (and I think you relied on them a bit too much considering people are going to be flying through games on LD), but I really enjoyed it overall. I really liked the spell casting system. I just wish I could've gotten into the action a bit quicker.

Belly Smash by Drunkain 2015-12-19T06:23:00

I really liked the game, and I loved the graphics. Maybe the AI could be a bit more challenging, but beyond that, I had a lot of fun. And the people getting knocked over in the stands was hilarious.

Melissa - A Game of Choice by Imagos Softworks 2015-12-19T23:54:00

Really great stuff, guys. It's definitely an intense game, but I really appreciate what you guys put into it!

Organ-izer by The Merge Conflicts 2015-12-19T05:03:00

Really fun game. I got to age 75. It's total chaos while playing, as I'm not exactly great with these types of games, but when I got the hang of it, I really enjoyed it!

Grow From Earth by JamesMowery 2015-12-14T10:19:00

@Elenesski Good point about the mouse controls. I probably should have left them out to be honest. I was just wanting to cover as many people as possible (including on the off chance there was anyone who might have difficulties with a disability or anything like that). But definitely the preferred way to go is with the left & right keyboard keys (or on a touch screen).

I'd definitely tweak the speed. I actually wanted to add bar that would fill up showing you how much faster the game was running if you didn't pick up the collectables.

Thanks so much for the feedback.

And thank you rantt & RhythmLynx for the kind words!

Grow From Earth by JamesMowery 2015-12-18T02:49:00

Hi everyone. Thanks so much for the great feedback. I've taken in consideration a lot of the comments, and I have added an improved version with sound effects, a game over screen, and some tweaks to the game speed. You can access this under the "Web (Post Ludum Dare)" link.

Thanks so much for checking out my game!

Decay Dynamics by NotoriousFlex 2015-12-19T06:48:00

I really loved the game. Very addictive, and pretty challenging at first. One tip to improve the game: add a visual indicator (or maybe a color change) for the currently highlighted part that you can assemble. The mountain of white parts can become difficult to distinguish when you're going really fast. Other than that, a really awesome game.

Cheese Mountain by Rumpelcita 2015-12-18T05:42:00

Fun game. I really liked it, though I do feel the sliding against the wall to straighten everything up ruined the challenge. The physics could use some work, but I'm happy to see how you got along with Phaser. I used Phaser as well, but I didn't really do anything with the physics. This was a good example of what could be done, so I'm happy.

Good work!

Face Off: Retrieve Your Face by epicTCK 2015-12-15T05:56:00

Very nice work. Congrats on the effort. I will say that I did manage to break the first level (I think?). I managed to somehow push the crate over where I think it was supposed to go: http://d.pr/i/1eNRU

Really fun though! Clever use of the two buttons to add a jump in as well. I also made my first game using Phaser, and yours definitely has a ton more cool things. :)

Spinny Whale by burntcustard 2015-12-18T05:48:00

Congrats on your first game. We both had a somewhat similar idea — and we both used Phaser.io — except yours was a whale going down, and mine was a seed going up. :)

Human Invasion by zamotany 2015-12-15T06:12:00

Pretty fun game. I think I'd like it better if your guy just automatically shot all the time, but other than that, a really good effort! :)

Build Town by TeamMJZ 2015-12-19T05:25:00

Nice attempt. Not really catching me in a way that I expected, but I'm sure that more effort will prove the game to be successful.

2 Growing Buttons ... by psypol 2015-12-18T00:09:00

I enjoyed it. Add some music or sound to give even more immersion!
