Nightlight by AgentParsec 2015-12-19T07:45:00
I really love the game. Really had me going for quite a long time. The atmosphere is top notch, and so are the lighting effects. Would love to see an auto/quick save in the future! :)

I really liked this. I didn't get to explore all the endings, but it's pretty good. The only issue is that the controls are a bit tough on the web version, especially when you can't see your mouse cursor. I'm sure it's a limitation of the web version though, so no worries. But all good! Thanks for putting this together!
This has been my favorite Ludum Dare game so far. I enjoyed it very much!
I like the game. It wasn't clearly evident from the first play through as to what I was supposed to be doing, but I enjoyed doing whatever it was that I was doing, if that makes any sense!
Nice concept. I'm sure that with some additional time and effort it'll become a great game too. Definitely keep working on it!
Congrats on finishing your first game during LD!
I really liked the graphics and presentation and idea. Would really have liked to have seen more "game" to this though. Maybe more of a challenge, or maybe power ups. Great work though, and nice 3D art as well.
I enjoyed this. I was a bit confused about if you were supposed to aim or not in the beginning, but I figured it out after some time. If there's one suggestion I would make, it would be to just have an auto fire option (since there's unlimited ammo, it seems). That's what I was doing in the game, so it would make more sense if the game just handled firing for you, and you could add another, more interesting, mechanic maybe.
Other than that, I enjoyed it! I also like the music!
This is really fun! This is the best game I've played so far. I really like the modular aspect of building your space ship. Unfortunately, I got so big that the game tried to die on me. But then I just went into super 360 mode and tried killing everything for as long as I could.
The graphics, music, and presentation was also incredible.
Very very nice work! :)
I like the game, but here's a suggestion for an improvement. If you screw up a robot (like say the first piece), there should be a button or something you could do to speed up the conveyer belt, because it's just too slow by then. If you put that in, it would be perfect, but still very good either way!
Getting an error, unfortunately. Here's the error, if it helps: http://d.pr/i/14Geg
I really loved the game. Once you figure out that you can destroy multiple enemies by "drawing" over them when you release the space bar, it's just a ton of fun. I'm sure once you make that more obvious, this will be perfect.
Pretty nice! The game was very slow on Safari on Mac OS X (but it worked on Chrome), but other than that, everything was pretty cool. I would suggest, however, turning down the "Beep" sound. Kinda hurt my ears the first time.
I didn't have a clue what was going on. I just rapidly pushed the N and U keys, and I won. It looked nice, but it wasn't a very good game.
Nice work. I made it over 500 before I just stopped.
I didn't really understand what was going on while playing. Perhaps an interactive or in-game tutorial would really help, because I just wasn't understanding. Also, your instructions written on the page don't see to be accurate, as right click did nothing for me.
The game was interesting. I like how you have to press down, after up, to jump higher. Good work!
Pretty interesting concept. It took me a few moments to understand what was going on, but once I finally understood, it was pretty interesting. One improvement could be to make the color and number of dots stand out a bit more and to be more obvious. Also having the combination that you are entering be more in your face would've been handy. Other than that, great work.
I really enjoyed the game. Very fascinating stuff. I can see that a lot of great work was put into this. Great job!
Really pretty game, and beautiful sounding as well.
The game was pretty good. It's not necessarily my cup of tea, but I can tell, for what it is, that a lot of nice work was put into this, so many kudos to you for your effort!
The game was a bit difficulty, and it took way too long to get into the action, but I liked the overall concept. I think the execution could have been a bit more polished, but it's far better than what I could have done.
I'm getting "Error parsing file" and "Maximum call stack exceeded errors" on the web version.
Unfortunately, the game doesn't load for me. On latest Mac OS with Safari browser. Loading bar gets stuck at around 75%.
This was really cool. I didn't realize that you could press "up" to make them jump. Once I realized that, this became far less frustrating. Good game, overall.
This is pretty cool! I like the concept. The only improvement I would suggest is giving a little bit more of a visual indicator of where you're going to start sprouting next, as sometimes you waste some time trying to figure out where you are (also gets worse as more elements are on the screen). But other than that, I really enjoyed it. Kudos to you!
I really enjoyed it. I played it through for a few levels until I got my butt handed to me. Very good work!
Nice work on your game! I like how you incorporated the "Growing" theme into this. I also liked the sound and such (although it seems to cut off and stop playing once you beat a level or two). Other than that, really good stuff. :)
Not loading for me for some reason. I'm on Safari on OS X. Wouldn't load on LD or via DropBox.
This was very fun. I enjoyed it, so good job. One thing I felt that could have been added, or would have just been cool in general, is if I could have fired both lasers at the same time. Maybe just require it to take much longer to charge, but it could combine into a super shot if you have enough time.
I was having a bit of difficulty with controlling it, but I'm sure that's intentional. I really liked the music and the simplicity of it all. Very good work!
Really fun game. I wish I had another person here to box with. I also really liked the graphical style to it. Great work!
I really liked it.
Really cool idea of having to hold down both movement buttons to get any movement!
I really liked this game. I would've liked to have seen keyboard controls as well, as some parts were a bit unnecessarily tough without them. Could be a bit more challenging. I really loved the art style and the presentation, however. Great work!
Pretty good game. I suck at these kind of games, but it was pretty good for what it is. I think it would be even cooler if the enemies and friendlies were randomly generated.
This is a really great game. It had me interested from the start. The mechanics were awesome as well. A few tweaks to the physics will see this game being perfect!
I think the game has very good potential. However, the fact that it takes a very long time for your choices to register was a bit concerning.
High score: 681! I love it. Super addicting, super fun to get into, and definitely has you on the edge of your seat the whole time!
I wasn't really sure what the "game" aspect of this was, but destroying a tank with a tree, and somehow causing blood effects, was kinda interesting in itself.
Really awesome game. I suck at this style of game, but I just couldn't stop going after I got started. Really great work, and pretty amazing that you included a level editor as well. Great work!
This game is really tense, but fun. It kept me going, and that's really cool. I also like the graphics. But it also had me on the edge of my seat.
I got to level 2. I found it was easiest to just go back and forth rapidly to spray shots, and if I did that and was careful, I could get pretty far. Might want to mix it up to prevent that from being a way to cheese the game. Only other suggestion would be to spawn the asteroids outside of the view if possible. I enjoyed it!
Pretty nice effort with this. Took a few moments to understand what to do. But very nice effort. I also really like how when you hold down the mouse button, it sort of goes into slow motion to allow you to aim. I really liked that.
Looks really awesome from the images. I hope you guys can add in a web or Mac version in the future! :)
I liked the game. I enjoyed capturing all the objects. Could probably be a little bit more difficult in some ways, but really a great start.
Nice work. I will say the sound effects in the beginning were quite jarring, especially when I didn't know what was going on. But once I figured it out, the game was actually quite fun. I enjoyed it! Nice work on doing multiplayer too!
Very nice. One idea to make it feel better would be to set the anchor point of your character's x axis to be at 0.5, and the y axis to be a 1.0 (thus making the anchor at the bottom). I think when you shrink and grow, you do so from the top left of your character. By setting the anchor point in the bottom middle, it would probably be a lot better feeling.
I think forcing two button controls in this situation really hurt the game, as opposed to help it. Switching the controls isn't interesting, it's just confusing. Also, when I started playing, my fish was going backwards, which really confused me and left a bad first impression. I'd say just skip the two-button controls theme, and normalize the controls, and this would have been great. But as it stands, it was quite frustrating.
This was an interesting game to play. I didn't really feel threatened by the enemies. The rocks tended to do more damage than anything. But a really nice attempt at a game. Some more refinement would see it do even better.
Not really sure what's happening. I'm not sure that it's working for me. No sound. On Safari on Mac.
No source code? :\
I really enjoyed this game. It's very simple, but the atmosphere gives it a great feeling. Thanks for putting this together!
Very nice try for your first attempt. I'd definitely work on expanding the "game" part of the game, but still pretty cool stuff for your first attempt.
I really enjoyed the game. It was insanely addictive. I started playing, and thought I'd give up soon after picking up a few things, but I found myself continuing on. One big improvement I'd really love to see is the ability to trigger the grabber on your own (maybe press both Right + Down buttons at the same time?) to speed things up. But I really enjoyed it, so keep up the great work.
Nice work. It was a little confusing as to what I was supposed to be doing. I think an in-game tutorial would really help this game out. Nice work!
Doesn't seem to be working, unfortunately. Nothing's loading when I visit the website.
Really great work for your first game! I really appreciate that you put in audio controls as well. One thing I will say is that I never really felt like I had 100% control of the placement of the marker. I never felt like I could get it perfectly in the middle, and at some points I just felt like I was scrubbing it over the area it needed to be. So some tweaks to the controls to allow more finer grained controls would be appreciated. If you tweak that a bit, I think it'll be an amazing game. Again, great work for your first game. It's far better than my first attempt!
Pretty nice attempt, though I wish there was a bit more sense of success. Or maybe some sound would have really made this game very good — having the beat match when the "energy" flows through you.
I really liked the game. Pretty cool concept of being able to tap while against the wall to go faster. Only "issue" is that it made me a bit motion sick from seeing the graphics on the side. Not sure how you would resolve that, but other than that, it was good.
I'm having a lot of difficulty distinguishing the background from the foreground. I just don't really know what I'm doing, because I can't really tell where I should be going. Maybe if you could just intentionally dull the background graphics (dramatically), it would fix the problem.
I liked the sounds though!
I really enjoyed this. I'm not one for reading a lot of prompts though (and I think you relied on them a bit too much considering people are going to be flying through games on LD), but I really enjoyed it overall. I really liked the spell casting system. I just wish I could've gotten into the action a bit quicker.
I really liked the game, and I loved the graphics. Maybe the AI could be a bit more challenging, but beyond that, I had a lot of fun. And the people getting knocked over in the stands was hilarious.
Really great stuff, guys. It's definitely an intense game, but I really appreciate what you guys put into it!
Really fun game. I got to age 75. It's total chaos while playing, as I'm not exactly great with these types of games, but when I got the hang of it, I really enjoyed it!
@Elenesski Good point about the mouse controls. I probably should have left them out to be honest. I was just wanting to cover as many people as possible (including on the off chance there was anyone who might have difficulties with a disability or anything like that). But definitely the preferred way to go is with the left & right keyboard keys (or on a touch screen).
I'd definitely tweak the speed. I actually wanted to add bar that would fill up showing you how much faster the game was running if you didn't pick up the collectables.
Thanks so much for the feedback.
And thank you rantt & RhythmLynx for the kind words!
Hi everyone. Thanks so much for the great feedback. I've taken in consideration a lot of the comments, and I have added an improved version with sound effects, a game over screen, and some tweaks to the game speed. You can access this under the "Web (Post Ludum Dare)" link.
Thanks so much for checking out my game!
I really loved the game. Very addictive, and pretty challenging at first. One tip to improve the game: add a visual indicator (or maybe a color change) for the currently highlighted part that you can assemble. The mountain of white parts can become difficult to distinguish when you're going really fast. Other than that, a really awesome game.
Fun game. I really liked it, though I do feel the sliding against the wall to straighten everything up ruined the challenge. The physics could use some work, but I'm happy to see how you got along with Phaser. I used Phaser as well, but I didn't really do anything with the physics. This was a good example of what could be done, so I'm happy.
Good work!
Very nice work. Congrats on the effort. I will say that I did manage to break the first level (I think?). I managed to somehow push the crate over where I think it was supposed to go: http://d.pr/i/1eNRU
Really fun though! Clever use of the two buttons to add a jump in as well. I also made my first game using Phaser, and yours definitely has a ton more cool things. :)
Congrats on your first game. We both had a somewhat similar idea — and we both used Phaser.io — except yours was a whale going down, and mine was a seed going up. :)
Pretty fun game. I think I'd like it better if your guy just automatically shot all the time, but other than that, a really good effort! :)
Nice attempt. Not really catching me in a way that I expected, but I'm sure that more effort will prove the game to be successful.
I enjoyed it. Add some music or sound to give even more immersion!
