Very fun game

bjarnovikus 2015-12-14 13:41

Not a bad game, but I had some small issues: turning was too fast, it was more based on luck if I was looking at the right direction. Also: for some reason I was unable to see which button did what (it fell of the screen). Having nowhere a setting to change the resolution, I was unable to increase the resolution and hoping the problem would go away.

Game looks nice and the idea is all right. But these issues hindered me of enjoying your game.

The fish span a bit too quickly for me, so it was difficult trying to point it in the right direction. But other than that, fun game, well done!

Nice little game, i had to figure out what was what because of the window size being too small for the UI to appear, wich made this a lot harder :D

manabreak 2015-12-14 13:43

I like the idea of changing the controls. However, it was barely playable for me since the icons were outside the screen as I played in windowed mode (probably fixable by playing on higher resolutions..?).

togo 2015-12-14 13:51

i like the idea of switching the action tied to a button. and it was easy to handle which was a big problem when i tried something of the sort.
same as @Bjarnovikus the buttons are offscreen and the fish rotates crazy fast.

Cool concept, was a good little game. Needed some more levels as I was still happy to play when I got to the end. The buttons also seemed a bit "off".

alexiseshford 2015-12-14 15:45

Not bad, i like it!

I like the idea of changing what the buttons do, but I think the way that the controls are set up, even if they don't change it will be hard to control.

yamzho 2015-12-14 18:23

Very complicated to control the fish. The idea was good though. I liked the art.

simon123 2015-12-14 18:23

Really loved the art style. The concept was interesting but it was a bit difficult/frustrating!

darkgrisen 2015-12-14 18:27

This game is funny but also weird :P

anarbitrarymustache 2015-12-14 18:28

I like the root concept and enjoyed the artwork. I think the "random" aspect could have been better applied to something other than the controls. Also, the screen wrapping was a bit jarring. Had your level size and camera viewport been the same size I don't think it would have been as bad, but having the camera jump from one side doesn't help, especially with the controls contently changing.

bobismijnnaam 2015-12-14 18:33

It was almost impossible to control the fish, and also every few seconds it switched around. The concept is interesting however, and I liked the visuals of the game. I especially liked how your enemies later become food :) The music didn't really add anything to the atmosphere.

submundo-games 2015-12-14 18:35

nice game dude.

kernel_panic 2015-12-14 18:45

I found the the controls quite weird - the periodically changing actions were confusing, and the general turning with forward/backward made it slightly frustrating. However, I liked atmosphere, and the cute little sprites.

kapura 2015-12-14 18:48

I found my fish going backwards most of the time? Very disconcerting.

icereci 2015-12-14 19:00

Hold my beer, I'm gonna swim backwards.
Love it :)

drtizzle 2015-12-14 20:39

The fish was too unresponsive, I really had to "work" to rotate the fish. I liked the concept of enemies changing into something good.

The music made it seem like it was a really weird dream or something :)

deusroffe 2015-12-16 14:08

Not runnable on Linux, it complais that it can't find libXcursor.so.1

rogod 2015-12-16 14:16

Not really sure it constitutes a game when you can just hold 2 keys and it performs about the same as if you have some intent behind it.
I did not feel in control of the character, some clearer indication of what keys were doing what every 10 seconds would help - and maybe an audio cue of when it changes.
Some of the fish sprites got sheared off in an odd direction after time and the music was boring and unimaginative.
There was also no clear border so I didn't feel I knew when I was going to pop out the other side of the map.
Also generally in a game, the up arrow (on the arrowkeys anyway) makes the player go forwards, so why was the direction indicator for "forwards" to the right. This was counter intuitive and just felt sloppy overall.

Fun game i like it. :D Good job bro.

jamesmowery 2015-12-21 07:54

I think forcing two button controls in this situation really hurt the game, as opposed to help it. Switching the controls isn't interesting, it's just confusing. Also, when I started playing, my fish was going backwards, which really confused me and left a bad first impression. I'd say just skip the two-button controls theme, and normalize the controls, and this would have been great. But as it stands, it was quite frustrating.

Cool!
