LD59 — Signal

Xsignals by zakchaos 2026-04-25T00:30:50Z

sadly i got in when no one was playing so not much of a game to be played

In the Crib by ruthiepee 2026-04-22T11:05:56Z

i feel like im so close to the answer. Screenshot 2026-04-22 050402.png

Sound the Horns by kr4ft3r 2026-04-25T00:46:18Z

the graphics and style are really cool, i didnt get the gameplay though even reading the instructions and comments, but i still liked controlling all the soldiers in the distance so A+ on immersion for such a simple mechanic

Logic Emitter by Jiri Hysek 2026-04-20T10:22:47Z

really cool game i will come back to play more. at first i thought it was too easy, then there was the color changing stuff and i was like ok this is my jam

First Contact by benskca 2026-04-22T16:57:04Z

cool concept, really nice execution on the tech, but im confused and even the solution in the comment above me doesnt help. im bad at solving puzzles though, so this wont affect the rating i give, just feedback :)

Cadence of Glob by Orjan 2026-04-22T17:30:45Z

this game has taught me that i am exactly like a golden retriever.

Cadence of Glob by Orjan 2026-04-22T17:43:06Z

AHHH BALL IS LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!1111!!!!

Avalanche by JulienLussiez 2026-04-20T14:40:40Z

great look, style, best audio ive experience so far. a bit repetitive, so i didnt finish but thats because ive done plenty of beacon training in the backcountry. cool game! maybe it could expand to include slides and time trials on finding beacons? with out how the spatial audio is done i feel like this could turn into a training tool

Round-a-doodle-doo by Fupi 2026-04-20T15:31:59Z

great little game! i wish there was more ways to lose, it would have held my attention longer but the polish and quality for compo is really inspiring to see!

Coo-Coo, Chef! by poboy 2026-04-24T01:36:34Z

you said be confused and i sure was, but did i enjoy the experience? also yes

i thought i was getting there but it felt like the commands i discovered with the "be confused" tags would change on me then i mildly quit (not rage quit its too cute to rage)

cool input mechanics and discovering the mirrored commands was cool, but then i got confused again.

Call Me by MrWarranty 2026-04-21T22:57:00Z

im too tired from the weekend to beat this game, but i really enjoyed it and have to saved to play later when im in the puzzling mood

Star Traveller by nyxkn 2026-04-21T22:37:05Z

i have only one word: seamless

Bulletproof Broadcast by ugly_robot 2026-04-22T18:22:33Z

were you playing stick rpg on miniclip back in the day too?

because i also went with a word game built into an authoritarian world, although "game" is a generous term when i compare it to this submission.

im really impressed by the game loop and how you expressed the mechanics. as well as the polish and seamlessness created in 48 hours...i have a lot of practicing for next LD jam.

Catch the signals by Fifut 2026-04-25T00:38:01Z

interesting idea, nice execution. but the game loop was frustrating. having to go capture a planet each time i wanted to test my solution was cumbersome and stopped me from caring about the puzzle. i think the issue is the game equally splits both mechanics instead of prioritizing one or the other or having some kind of synergy between aiming the antenna and moving obstacles around. either way nice work and i enjoyed playing until i saw what the loop was and quit

HeliRescue by darkshadow 2026-04-30T13:45:16Z

fun little game although i didnt feel like there was much consequence involved. 100 seconds for a small map meant i could completely ignore fuel. i also had a hard time using the signal to help guide towards the people and just scanned the map to find them.

all in all nice entry and the audio and visuals made the experience fun enough for me to play twice

Antwork by Thoastbot 2026-04-21T22:15:51Z

cool game, i got a bit confused but im sure thats on me. i thought there was a bug at first but i just needed to click the queen ant i think. couldnt figure out how to get the ants to the food, but RTS is not my genre so this did not affect how i ranked the game.

parroting Alex above, super impressive work. and your english is great!

Antwork by Thoastbot 2026-04-21T23:00:06Z

@thoastbot i could see the tutorial, im just a dummy and get confused by instructions and lost in games often.

i think an easy fix to help people like me is during the tutorial make the thing you want me to click pulse or glow. im the kind of person that can only learn a board game by playing it for example, so reading the text only gets me half way there, unless you tell me to go look in the left corner for the symbol and click it ill be guessing and spamming

codevibes by gdman 2026-04-25T00:52:31Z

cool game but i wish the level design helped teach the strategy more. level 1 to 2 felt like a huge jump in difficulty.

Sleep ArthonBru, Sleep! by hotaloca 2026-04-21T23:36:43Z

groovy, no pointers. i want to beat it, i will be back.

Terminal Espionage by Frib 2026-04-24T01:08:33Z

thank you for adding accessibility options, i am one of those that the shader effects does bother my eyes

too complicated for my taste though, i needed a little nudge to get going and couldnt get to that point myself.

execution of the game is impressive and the idea is really cool i just didnt "get it"

Moon Moth by kanity 2026-04-25T01:00:29Z

i won!! also i got shivers right at the start. such a cool experience!

when are you publishing a poetry book?!?!

Outpost by henk 2026-04-20T15:24:54Z

is github have issues? the web build isn't showing any signs of life (or signals of life :P)

Outpost by henk 2026-04-25T00:03:04Z

looks really nice, the gravity simulation is cool, and in general a great setup to a game,

but the game loop got repetitive and combined with the awkward controls i didnt end up finishing

i think mouse to look around with WASD to move around and navigate menus would have been the same effort to implement and more familiar control scheme

Morse Fishing by JonaGameDev 2026-04-20T10:21:37Z

the ux made me rage quit

Beat the Signal by Fassenberg 2026-04-22T17:27:33Z

i am also unable to load the game. unity just hangs with the load bar full

im on chrome using a windows PC

Beat the Signal by Fassenberg 2026-04-22T18:03:39Z

@fassenberg loads fast on itch, cool idea but i still had to stop playing after a few moments.

the screenshake is an accessibility issue with all the other visual stuff going on. the screen pulsing while i was trying to follow the coins with my eyes made me seasick and i had to quit.

SignalShooter by Altiioo 2026-04-20T15:16:30Z

i like the core concept but i feel like the execution of it got too complicated and the fun was lost

SignalShooter by Altiioo 2026-04-20T16:41:32Z

@altiioo my biggest frustration was the delay between shots. i wanted to spam to learn the gravity wells faster so i could figure out where the solution was, but i get that that makes the game too easy. if i had had a different kind of visual feedback to help me learn i think that would have subdued the frustration of not being able to spam

i completely ignored the multiplayer aspect too fyi, i just wanted get the yellow square to the red square and felt like the game was preventing me from figuring out how to do that.

SignalShooter by Altiioo 2026-04-20T16:45:48Z

oh theres more levels.....hahahaha i got really unlucky with the gravity well one with the spinning X

Sigma by peped 2026-04-26T13:49:13Z

really cool little game. the only issue i see are the menu buttons. "Restart" behaves like a reset by clearing the stars. Then "Reset Progress" restarts the whole game...with only one level this language is confusing. I think one menu button to go to the beginning of the game is needed especially since right click clears the star selections.

Without Brakes by Shernik 2026-04-21T23:12:34Z

i would love to play but im not downloading zips :( im very intrigued though

Insecure WiFi by BushFire 2026-04-25T01:09:49Z

cool idea, i needed to know what level i was on and how many levels there were though. i got through 4 and then quit since i wasnt going to push to see the win screen without knowing how much time or effort it was going to take

redlight-greenlight-bluelight by Firewater09 2026-04-25T01:16:31Z

great little submission but i felt cheated when i crossed the finish line and didnt see a win screen

Propaganda and Rhetoric by hammeredzombie 2026-04-20T10:45:40Z

@tolviere thanks for playing! im glad you liked the artsy fartsy side of what i made. the solution has misdirection built in, no extra pieces, but thanks for comments this let me make sure there's no bug and it's still winnable

Propaganda and Rhetoric by hammeredzombie 2026-04-20T15:54:07Z

removed LD build since has bugs not found on itch

Propaganda and Rhetoric by hammeredzombie 2026-04-20T16:56:45Z

@frib thank you for the feedback! i wanted to be cryptic, 4th wall breaking psychological puzzle horror game was the idea. i also had way more plans for how to incorporate the proper-goose.com side and wanted to make that a full point and click puzzle, but designing a puzzle in 48 hours is insane so this turned into more of a conceptual art piece with simple puzzle mechanics.

and thanks for the feedback on the copy paste! i dont think its something i'm allowed to fix because its not actually a bug, that's just how iframes work. i would need to code copy/paste input keys and logic in the godot code for that to work on an embedded web build...

but firefox has a feature for that?!?!? so cool!

Propaganda and Rhetoric by hammeredzombie 2026-04-21T22:45:44Z

@henk thanks for playing and saving my little duck brain. the first line made me smile and released a lot of tension from this experience. 48 hours is not a lot of time. the website word wiggle was a last ditch effort to make something coherent, but i want to go way deeper and have a full point and click puzzle connected to the in game universe

and having the website hosted separately was trying to do an ARG thing, the ux between the two is definitely awkward and will need to be managed carefully in the design if i want to keep going with the ARG approach. thanks again from playing and im glad you found the solution!!

Propaganda and Rhetoric by hammeredzombie 2026-04-21T23:09:49Z

@henk good idea about hand picking the words. that was an opportunity for level design that i let rng handle. make the first page easy, then build from there. cant wait to try this again in october!

Propaganda and Rhetoric by hammeredzombie 2026-04-22T17:18:21Z

@thoastbot i teared up seeing that you found the easter egg and i wanted to incorporate hacker mechanics into the puzzle so bad, but had to choose a simple mechanic at the. this game was actually inspired by a podcast about the dark web https://darknetdiaries.com/episode/172/

@poboy thank you! i definitely went into the deep end with this one. i had the title a few weeks ago listening to the podcast linked above. the guest studied "rhetoric and propaganda" at university and i was like 'oh thats totally a game title' and here we are!!!!!1!

Propaganda and Rhetoric by hammeredzombie 2026-04-25T00:14:36Z

@plutonicrock i very much do!! waiting for the voting period to end so i can start work again with all the feedback

@theoconfidor this game needed a tutorial or some kind of feedback to the player. thanks for playing and the remarks!

@pragmascript i call it punsmaxxing : D

@paulsams im glad you liked the concept! i got work to do on the game/puzzle design but going to keep running with this goose/duck ARG think ive started

@pincushion the red herring with the misdirecting logic was the only "puzzle" i could think of at the end :( i submitted this game thinking no one would solve it because there isn't much to solve. "annoying riddle" is definitely a sentiment people have and is appropriate description for this game i think

@ugly-robot im glad you like the theme and style! the site is inspired by AP news if uncle sam were the web designer. @venomousmouse im glad you also liked the concept and generally had a good time even though you were confused.

lots to work on puzzle/game design wise, but im so excited that the concept is being well received!

Propaganda and Rhetoric by hammeredzombie 2026-04-26T15:34:10Z

@catanus @fifut thank you so much for playing! its really interesting to see who solves it and who doesnt. i got a lot of puzzle design studying to do.

@darkshadow i did not include any options unfourtunetly. what kind of device and browser are you using?

Propaganda and Rhetoric by hammeredzombie 2026-04-30T13:38:58Z

@darkshadow thanks for that feedback. there does seem to be some weirdness with firefox that i cant pinpoint. sorr y about that :(

@ruruie thank you! i definitely leaned into a direction with this one

@tinykidtoo the puzzle aspect is what got me in the end. i had much grander ideas in my head, which now im going to do! and im surprised goosetapo isnt a thing already. i dont see much online.

@kr4ft3r did you use any refresh spamming or were you good at visually scanning the page? and im glad you liked the weird little universe i created! thats my favorite part too and the general concept of simulating one thing while showing it in an absurd context. you were an assassin, but for what? dun. dun. duuuuunnnnnn!!!

i love you, too by tolviere 2026-04-24T00:33:28Z

i stopped caring about the story almost immediately, but...

the signal matching gameplay cured some of my unresolved ptsd from undergrad. i really enjoyed it so full points on fun from me.
