Oct 2 22:59:22 Ascii commando ♥ 1 Wow that's pretty educational, though I probably won't remember the codes for long ^^' I just scrolled down, looked at the code once and then scrolled back up and did it by memory, so it was also a fun short-memory game :) The gameplay itself is not too complicated, and I tried to be careful to not put myself into a situation where I can't move the blocks anymore. I like the visuals (especially our character) and the take on the theme is so great and very fitting. The music also fits the vibe of the game nicely :)
Oct 2 23:18:37 19m 15s Setting the Stage ♥ 5 I think the concept is just fantastic, I really enjoyed the game ^^ The visuals are great, the attention to detail, little stories about musicians and cryptic descriptions - I really liked all of that. I have to say though, as someone who doesn't have an ear for music and isn't very good with music, it was probably more cryptic than it would be for a more music-oriented person! I would appreciate the instruments being named (like I can recognize drums or a guitar, but for example one time there are two similar-looking key instruments, and I have zero ideas what the difference between them is :)) It shows you put a lot of love and effort in the game. Looks like you didn't have enough time for critic reviews, as they just show me lines of code, so I am excited to play again once you make an update ^^
Oct 2 23:25:02 6m 25s Candy Catcher ♥ 3 I love the music and sound effects, and the heart candy is my favourite ^^ Control of the finger took a bit of adjusting to, but unfortunately I had to restart several times to play the game in bits as my hand along with the jar of candies would just disappear randomly and never come back even though there are still 30 more seconds on the clock :( So I had to use the reload button in-game and start again, but it would inevitably happen every time before the timer runs out.
Oct 4 00:02:39 24h 37m Pong Diner ♥ 0 Unfortunately I can't get your game to work on my laptop (I have windows), it just shows the black screen when run, even though the music is playing :( I did download that .dmg file and put it in the folder with the game just in case and run the game as administrator, not sure if I can do anything else?
Oct 4 00:12:14 9m 35s Cosmic Cafe Crisis ♥ 3 The visuals are super cute, and I love music and sound effects, they really fit the atmosphere of the game ^^ Overall it reminded me of Overcooked and I wasn't very good at Overcooked either xD I was a bit confused here trying to figure out how to prepare a meal. And maybe it's because I played on page and didn't download, but the screen cuts off right over customers' heads so I kinda have no idea what they want? >_< Lastly, I think the idea with stations being destroyed as you are in space and like asteroids or sth hits them is really cool! :)
Oct 4 00:19:18 7m 04s Congestion Crusaders ♥ 0 Wow that's pretty dynamic! :) I like little descriptions for all the defenders. It's even a bit educational and I don't usually play a lot of tower defense games so it felt pretty unique to me :) In my opinion some of the graphics might be a bit too bright/saturated, but it might be just my personal taste ^^
Oct 4 00:29:18 10m 00s Packed to the Gills ♥ 4 Gosh Conductopus is too cute, I can't >_< The gameplay started a bit rought for me, but then I adjusted and just kept getting better ^^ I am not good with time limits but it really works for this game. I love the design of all the characters. It was so cool you showed all of them in the credits! I can't believe I got scared of DJ orca when I saw them in a train but it is such a cute character ^^ Really loved the game, it's fun and engaging and super cute, and music is so sweet! :3
Oct 4 00:57:17 27m 59s I Do ♥ 3 Well, the wedding was a success! :) The game was nice and fun, and I took time reading about the guests and deciding who to invite and where to put them. And then it was cool to just see them chill and read about their impressions on the right! Overall I don't even have any critique to add, I think the idea is cool and it was executed well! :) Maybe the only nitpick - I think it should be "they bonded", not "bounded", that's all!
Oct 4 23:59:55 23h 02m Tables 95 ♥ 1 Gosh, making Unity into a virus xD That is definitely funny and kinda hard :)
Oct 5 00:06:12 6m 17s Mechanizyn ♥ 1 I love the hand drawn picture that shows your design process, it looks really cool. The energy bar was interesting, I guess it is a mechanic fly :D I don't think 2nd level is too hard. Sure, I didn't get it on 1st try, but you just have to get used to the controls a bit. If you continue working on this game, you could implement different difficulty levels.
Oct 5 00:23:37 17m 25s Confession Room ♥ 2 The game instantly drew me in with the mystery tbh, I got invested right away! Would love to have more ^^ Graphics are also beautiful and really fit the game. I like the jumping letters. They add to the feeling of the words, that's chilling sometimes! The only thing I kinda caught myself thinking about- I know the priest already saw the girl, but when they were in the confessional they were discussing the ribbon as if he could look at it at the moment. Maybe that's just my impression, but maybe it could be tweaked a little. If there was an option to check the previous phrase, that would be really cool, as I clicked accidentally a few times, skipping the line :( I am not sure how difficult it will be to code, but if you could, I think that would be very helpful ^^ At the same time it seems sometime the text scrolled back by itself? Maybe to give me an opportunity to make a better choice? It happened with granny. My first story was with a girl, with a good (I think) ending (I didn't tell her where the boy was and he seemed to be safe), and nothing like this happened. But with granny, several times the conversation rolled several sentences back.
Oct 5 00:29:45 6m 08s the limit of space ♥ 2 Sounds are fun and this is definitely high on the Humour side of the things ^^ I wish controls were a bit more explained (like even right here on the page), I felt like it just moves with my mouse but wasn't sure how should I fight the creatures, so I just tried evading them and collect the stars.
Oct 5 00:36:04 6m 19s Caged ♥ 1 Ah it wasn't easy and the sharks brought my cage xD But it's a cool idea, nice play on the theme, and I don't think it's a flaw the game is not too easy. On the first try I skipped the picture with controls too fast so I was just confused. 2nd time I looked at it and realised how to actually shoot the gun lol and it went much better. But then for several seconds I couldn't seem to shoot it (maybe the character was reloading?:))) Overall the thing that blew me away the most was the graphics! They are just fabulous!! Music is nice too ^^
Oct 5 00:41:11 5m 07s Void Hunter ♥ 1 The graphics are cute, and I like how cozy you made the menu look with tutorial with pictures and funny text. I think the atmosphere of the game is really fun and I was honestly excited to play it. Unfortunately, I can't seem to hit enemies :( I press left click and my weapon moves but nothing connects. Maybe it would be nice to make a simpler level at first, as a practical tutorial of sorts, where there is like 1 or 2 enemies that are slower so it is easier to figure fighting out without dying in a timely fashion?:)
Oct 5 00:51:25 10m 14s I don't know ♥ 1 I did finish the game ^^ {You push against the door, and the door opens! Hey! It worked! You got out! Congrats! Thanks for playing <3} I think it was really nice, and I felt the atmosphere of confusion that I personally found delightful. Like the character was lost, and I also felt lost, like wandering around confused and looking around. You did great on creating that tbh! Everything worked fine and I didn't have any problems reading the text. I like how you expressed your feelings about this Game Jam in your game :) I definitely had a nice time with this game, and it was short and sweet, but left an impression. About Twine: I started using Twine 2 (it seems you used that as well) on the 1st day of the Jam but slowly realized it doesn't work for me. So I switched to Twine 1.4.2 - the older version, but it is much more convenient for adding pictures and music. Twine 2 seems to be super unfit for that. But I think your story didn't really need pictures, it worked great w/o them. Maybe adding some sounds (ambient?) or music would be nice though :)
Oct 5 00:59:05 7m 40s Dodge ! ♥ 2 Music is great and I did fly around for a while doing pew pew but I am afraid it will take a while just hoping for a random person to join and I don't think anyone wants to play with me at 4 am :') So the solo mode would be nice for sure! xD
Oct 6 21:00:55 44h 01m Homeward ♥ 2 Was really excited to try another game from you after LD53, that one was delightful ^^ And such a nice surprise seeing a text-based game this time! I loved it a lot, it's so my type of game~ The mechanic is interesting, it fits the theme well, and the game kept me very engaged. The art is definitely my taste, I love it a lot <3 Sound effects fit the vibe of the game. It is impressive how you created so many encounters, it was interesting and intriguing, and the goal of getting most value in your bag is cool! I accidentally left the bread along with my money by clicking too fast ;_; And it was a nice surprise, as I reloaded the game to start over, that some items' sizes seem to be randomized, as that time I got a bigger gold pouch ^^ (though I think it still got me the same amount of bread, but not sure as 1st time I fat-fingered that purchase) Then I wanted to make my gem into jewelry and fat-fingered again T_T thankfully didn't lose the gem itself. I don't think the click-and-drag mechanic is bad, maybe I just have to be more careful >_< Nitpicks: *The font was a bit hard to read, especially as some letters were thicker while others were thinner. *In the beginning, it would be nice to say "Double click" instead of "Click" as I tried simply clicking on my Sword at first and got worried it's some kind of bug, but thankfully tried clicking 2 times xD *When I switched windows to start writing my feedback here as I go, music cut off and didn't go back when I clicked back on itch.io page :( *Found a typo: On the screen where we can buy/not buy bread: "Might be nice to bu*t* some bread" Got 158 ^^ kanityRecord.jpg
Oct 6 21:30:05 29m 10s S.P.A.C.E. ♥ 2 My favourite parts are background music with ambience (loved it a lot, so relaxing!), how the sun is drawn (makes me want to crash against it ofc) and the humour in the credits&tips! I know how it feels with the friends who just don't give any feedback at all xD The controls though definitely need work, it's hard to navigate and most of the time I just get launched off the screen :(
Oct 6 21:42:51 12m 46s Keyslinger ♥ 2 I love the character models, the visual style is just my taste, the cowboy reminds of the one from Overwatch and that's a big plus for me personally xD I am not a pro at westerns or music, but in my opinion music here really fits the atmosphere. The main menu also looks fantastic, it's impressive you managed to include such a pretty and stylish main menu in the game that was made in such a short amount of time ^^ Mechanic of having to choose controls is original and REALLY fits the theme of limited space. It also adds natural difficulty to the game. Bullet hell is not really my genre but I liked the game :)
Oct 6 21:53:52 11m 01s Yarn ♥ 1 Very cool and unique mechanic, personally I've never seen it before and I think it's a really cool one. It fits the theme of the game perfectly, and the game got me really invested. Though after collecting 10 buttons I expected sth to happen instead of "Well I need 10 more buttons" ^^'' which made me feel like the game just restarted. Music is really cute, and the art is fantastic, the cute yarns are the reason I followed this game after seeing it in the posts during the active jam period ^^ I also love platformers, and rain, so ofc I liked it a lot :)
Oct 6 22:24:38 30m 46s Rabbit Reporter ♥ 3 Followed this one after seeing the hand-made goodies in the post during active jam phase. It is so unique and exciting to see something crafted by hands to be incorporated in a game, so I really wanted to check it out :) Love the custom cursor, though it might be bit too big to be comfortable enough but is SUPER cute and I still enjoyed using it ^^ Loved the interactive map too, it feels satisfying to use. The mechanic of creating the newspaper was super fun as well and the dialogues are wacky in a good way! :D I missed some kind of audio, you probably didn't have enough time to add it, but maybe just using some copyright-free music (like from youtube audio library, etc) and still opting out of audio category since it's not original, would be a good temporary solution, and then you can always switch it to the original music after the jam :) I just put on some music on youtube while playing so it's not silent %) The options being like "find out more" and "not care" are a bit obvious and ofc I am going to choose to talk and not just go away, so it kinda defeats the purpose of the options being there. Nitpicks/bugs? -Dialogues activate by pressing space even when I am not close enough and the figure is not highlighted by yellow. That's not a huge problem, just noticed after pressing space just for the fun of it xD Then I tested it a bit more and it seems this only works after I already talked to said NPC once. -I went under the sprites sometimes: spritesRabbit.jpg -I love how grandma (looking young btw, let me know her beauty routine!) was bragging about her carrots while surrounded by tomatoes XD -Not sure if that's on purpose so we don't fat-finger the choice, but on choice boxes your custom cursor turns into a regular one. -I reckon that's because of a time crunch, but just noting some characters have "names" like "carrot_dress" :) My newspaper ^^ rabbitPaper.jpg
Oct 6 22:35:00 10m 22s leaving the nest ♥ 1 The graphics are super cute and the music is lovely! I love the bird changing its pose/expression :) I also love the take on the theme, decorating an apartment is very enjoyable ^^ My pretty place :3 birdFlat.jpg
Oct 6 22:42:55 7m 55s Infinitum Labyrinth - Space Un-LIMITed ♥ 1 Interesting but a bit confusing take on a packman style game :D I liked little pictures and messages. Watermelon looks tasty. Sometimes when I change levels, the colours are too intense ^^'
Oct 6 23:03:12 20m 17s Occhiolism ♥ 2 Finished the story as it is now. The premise seems unique and interesting, the writing itself could use some work. Might be because you were limited in time, maybe now the active phase of jam is over you can go over the text and comb it a little to make it more artful. Bit off-topic ig?: I was a bit confused on the game's position on cake smashing. I never saw this myself and I don't think we do it in my country at all, but I watched a video about it and it sounds quite dangerous as many cakes have wooden/metal/plastic supports in them and you can pierce a person's eye and kill them, and if one partner does it to another w/o discussing it prior and getting their consent to this, I think I understand why another partner would want a divorce after that betrayal of trust. Maybe I misunderstood your position from the dialogue, but wanted to put my opinion out there just in case.
Oct 6 23:12:18 9m 06s Park King ♥ 1 That's exactly why I don't have a driver's license! :D Crashed everything in my sight, now probably millions in debt and a wanted criminal. Really loved all the levels, the graphics are cute, the colour palette is very pleasing, and my car is super cute as well. I wasn't sure if I need to park in a particular way or press sth special, so I diligently pressed N(ext) only after taking the parking slot. Then I tried to test it and just pressed N in the start of the level and got sent to the next level where I became a police car and got punished for my reckless driving but not being able to complete that level ^^'
Oct 6 23:20:55 8m 37s Afloat ♥ 2 Nice graphics, the ending CG is super pretty! Now reading through other comments, I did figure out jellyfish were destroying the land/buildings and I did fight them and just tried to build as much buildings as possible. Though my game ended before time ran out so I probably didn't do well :)
Oct 6 23:36:26 15m 31s Magical Veggies ♥ 1 Gosh, these veggies are too cute! >v< Love the little hats highlighting the choice of an option in main menu :) The mechanics of veggies falling and colliding with each other are super well done, in my opinion. I really appreciate it when the controls are comfortable to use! Thanks to that, the gameplay is smooth and enjoyable :) The sounds you used are also very cute. I didn't play the game you were inspired by, but some of the ideas here are reminiscent of other popular genres, like bejeweled-like mobiles games where you combine few objects to create a new one, and of tetris. That's not a bad thing ofc, I think it's cool to combine all the different elements in one cauldron, so to say, to create something new ^^
Oct 6 23:45:20 8m 54s Pattern ♥ 4 Visually the game is stunning, combined with a pleasant music, it builds a calming and relaxed atmosphere. You took pretty simple graphics and made them look incredibly stylish. Controls are a bit hard to figure out, there is a learning curve. And - yes, if you change to blue and you are already in the air, nothing can ground you, even changing colours or anything else, and you just float endlessly upwards. Seems like I can't change to beige, so these are obstacles I have to avoid; I like that the player has to figure it all by themselves, but maybe something could be done about endless floating, maybe even just sending the player back to the top circle if he goes far up :)
Oct 6 23:50:54 5m 34s Ball size matters ♥ 0 I love the mechanic with shrinking-expanding, and the game seems chill ^^ A bit difficult for me maybe, as I am not that good with physics, but I like the idea and I'll keep it on my laptop, might practice bit more sometimes :)
Oct 7 13:21:23 13h 30m Caveat Exemplum Optimus ♥ 1 I knew from the description it will be hard for me to read as I am quite squeamish. I gave it a try carefully. The first scene was disgusting, so good job (I mean you probably were going for that feeling and I def got it) While I was chillin around looking at the portraits in the Board Room my character got too hungry and died ig xD I wondered if sth special would happen when I feed on that twisted deity of sorts (?) but it seems I got away with it ^^' Then I wandered around all the places and eventually came back to feed again, and "You know you have all the metal discs and green sheets you can ever use, but the screaming desire for more grows louder and louder, finally overwhelming you. You collapse lifelessly to the floor." I assume you spent all the active jam phase time on text, but if you at least added a background for the game it could give an impression of illustration, and maybe also give the text a more specific colour (maybe red text on black BG or something along these lines to go with the story).
Oct 7 17:02:07 3h 40m Homeonaut ♥ 2 Love the humour in "how to play" section, and how you presented it all with dynamic drawings! Animated main menu screen is nice as well, and I liked the music. Love the idea with the game screen moving around my laptop screen, it was so cool and inventive! Gameplay felt a bit hard in the beginning, but slowly adjusting to the game, I started moving more freely. However, there was a spot in the lower right part of my laptop screen, where my character would just freeze in place and refuse to move, not sure where this bug comes from :( I'd say it happened twice in that spot, but then also happened once in another, so might be connected to something else, not the specific spot. Anyway, it was pretty fun as it was still challenging but as I figured out the movement & enemy patterns I did beat the game and enjoyed it! The final boss looked super cool, by the way, very grotesque, and overall I have to mention I loved the graphics! And little tips on enemy patterns, like the green thingies swirling before shooting, were quite helpful ^^ Edit: only it seems to beat final lvl I just had to beat the little enemies or slam into the boss certain amount of time? the victory seemed a bit sudden to me, so in future some personal movement/patterns could be added to the boss and then the animated effect of him being defeated? was writing down my impressions in between levels :) Cosmos.jpg
Oct 7 17:24:51 22m 44s Don't squash the unicorn ♥ 1 Unusual mechanics, that's pretty cool! I like how it makes you interact with the game through resizing your browser window, it's impressive how you did that! It does kinda work with the theme of limited space, I think, though not in a way I would ever think of. First time I started the game I shrank my browser's window right away and accidentally killed my unicorn, it seems - thankfully I didn't even see the corpse that time, just got told off by some dude. For the second go I was more careful and kept window shrunk before starting the game. I tried my best killing the enemies w/o harming my unicorn, but it wasn't easy as oftentimes their sprites would basically intersect with the unicorn's sprite. Unicorn seemed to just go into the spikes himself then, probably running away from monsters (?) and I got to see his corpse which was pretty upsetting (I am quite squeamish, for most people the amount of "gore" in this game would most likely be at a normal level). On my third try, the enemies quickly grew in numbers, and though unicorn has survived, he was not impressed and left (I reckon the circle around the unicorn is his personal space? And the more it is invaded the angrier he becomes?). I like how his face grew angrier and angrier with time, it was a nice touch, showing his discontent with the amount of monsters. Then I got fired, and I am not sure I will be able to keep unicorn happy (maybe I should be faster in resizing the window? I tried to be careful not to harm the unicorn). The graphics are simple, but you probably spent most of the time on programming and working out this mechanic. However, the design of the enemies is still nice and expressive, and the unicorn looks cute. Overall, I liked the original mechanic, it's always cool to see and try something new. -I personally don't like blood and stuff in games, but most people are ok with that, so it's just my opinion. I gave a game a few more tries and covered the screen with my hand when I got unicorn dead :( -The graphics didn't really affect me in a particular way, I didn't love them but didn't hate them. Maybe in the future more details like light, shadows on monsters and unicorn and texture on the spikes could be added. -Sound effects for when you kill the enemy/unicorn would be a nice touch as well. But that's all for after-jam-development. -The difficulty is OK in my opinion, even though I failed pretty much, it didn't feel like an unbeatable game (not sure if it can be beat or if it is endless). -It's not something that I personally enjoy, but as I said already, I appreciate an interesting mechanic, it was fun to try out. Thank you for the game!
Oct 7 18:22:39 57m 48s Limited Brake ♥ 0 Graphics: The girl is really cute looking, and the car looks nice enough. Mechanics: I liked the way the screen was moving along with me riding a car. Not sure what the timer was for, I pressed continue after it ran out and was just stuck. If I am at the time limit (which I honestly didn't notice before zooming the page out a little ^^') then ig I should be just told off for exceeding it and thrown back to main menu or something? Audio: The "voice" of the girl made me feel like I am watching hentai xD (and that brake stick on the picture down left, lol) The music felt a bit overwhelming, had to turn it down, though I think such pumping music should be a good fit for a car game. Text: I assume English is probably not your 1st language so if you get someone who is a native/good at English to proofread, that would be nice.
Oct 7 18:51:38 28m 59s Steel Zenith ♥ 1 The mechanics were intuitive, I liked that. I opened the game w/o checking controls and still figured everything out right away, along with the goal of the game w/o any tutorial, so that's a big plus in my opinion. On my second playthrough it seemed like most options became unavailable and I couldn't choose between them anymore, only one "the most right one, new one" was available and so it stopped my building pretty early on. Not sure if that was a bug, I could choose freely all the time on my 1st playthrough. On my 3rd playthrough I figured out that if I take a piece but not place it and choose another one, that unplaced piece becomes eternally unavailable :( The graphics are very pleasant. Nice colour palette, comfortable to look at and pretty. Sound effects are fitting and enjoyable, and the music is nice ^^ After looking at the comments and seeing the height other ppl got, I am embarrassed to show mine :) It didn't get any higher than 1st attempt because of that problem with pieces becoming unchoosable: 1st attempt.jpg
Oct 7 20:39:17 1h 47m Micromachines ♥ 0 Very cute graphics and an interesting mechanic, love to see a nicely put together puzzle game. I am not very good at physics, so mainly used my intuition. 2nd level was confusing, thankfully I looked up a hint from the game page and made a П shape then figured out how to use it myself. But I think I am not good at this kind of puzzles enough for this game ;_; I am afraid I need a hint for every level :D Maybe that's a good idea for the future updates: make a "hint" button for stupid players like me :D
Oct 7 20:49:53 10m 36s Fish in hat ♥ 3 Lol I love the vibe, kinda creepy at first, when I turn around and see a bloodied paper human, then confusing and disorienting due to movement and finally goofy and groovy when you get closer to music player! (also he/she/they looks evil! xD) I picked up the spray paint can, pressed RMB but nothing happens - so I was confused, then talked to NPC again and saw a new choice pop up. Gave everyone I could a hat :3 Cool graphics there, hehe~!
Oct 7 22:24:35 1h 34m Before I Forget ♥ 1 That was such a nice game! The first playthrough, you really feel the frustration from not being able to remember certain things; and the fact our memory box shrunk every time was really cool because it added to that feeling and to the atmosphere. I think the game is realistic in this sense - tackling a topic of old people forgetting important stuff. I did go through the second playthrough, prompted by ...? in the end of "bad ending" phrase. I think it was implied enough that I should start the game again, and I did see Rosa! That last scene in colour with them smiling was adorable ^^ gotTrue.jpg Little nitpicks: When Rosa appeared, her sprite with huge eyes looked a bit too creepy, maybe you could work on it a bit? When she smiled and closed her eyes everything looked great. I had a problem fitting "My name" at one point, the space was clear but the detail didn't want to highlight itself: memorybug.jpg Overall, I liked the idea of the game, the mechanic of the memories and the feelings it invokes in the player. Background looked really cool. Pictures on the memory blocks were great as well. The sprites of the characters - I think could be improved, but of course I am not expecting AAA graphics from a game jam game, and I think the old man sprite was really well done.
Oct 7 22:33:06 8m 31s Depthe ♥ 1 Have completed several levels, got stuck on the one with a death pit trap. I switched tabs to start writing here about it and when I switched back, the screen with the game was frozen and unplayable. That might be my bad, but I was a bit stuck there anyway, I think I tried going all directions and still would fall into the pit. But aside from that, I liked the levels that I did complete. It was a nice little puzzle game with interesting mechanics and cute graphics, intuitive enough and difficult enough. I liked it ^^
Oct 8 00:17:09 1h 44m A Better Place ♥ 2 First impressions: Super cute graphics, really love them! Main menu is pretty and easy to use, I love the animation of a raccoon over the speech box, and the music sounds fun! After playing: That was actually super relaxing, you kinda get into the groove and keep clicking. The beginning was bit too slow, had to wait for the trash bags to appear. Then at around 500 score I went from full screen to normal screen and because of that change started playing slower/less precise and actually failed the day at 552.5 ^^'' So yeah, in general the game is pretty easy and turns into a routine that makes you dazed/sleepy. Nice to play before sleep :D But I like the idea and the gameplay, tbh. Nice graphics and sounds helped a lot too. I would maybe increase the curve of difficulty a little, so it gets harder earlier, just so it's not too slow. While playing I also had a lot of time to think xD so I thought it would be cool to add a specific sound to each crate (like glass would get that glass sound, microchip maybe like computer-ish beep, soft sludgy sound for organics, metal sound for cans, maybe like for the bottle could be that slight pop for when you squeeze the plastic? as I said I had a lot of time to think, but that's just an idea, the sounds as they are in the game are great ^^
Oct 8 01:03:03 45m 54s Terminal Velocity ♥ 2 Gave it several tries and it is bit too difficult for me to complete (and I am not that good at bullet hell) but it was fun. And hey, that computer has more health than me! Not fair! I think because numbers appearing are randomized, sometimes I would start a new run and get instantly flooded with lots of them, sometimes there would be more pinks, sometimes none, etc etc so I think luck also kinda plays a role a bit ^^ Oftentimes when trying to deflect pinks I just bumped into them! I googled the code 00101101 and it showed me it means 2D. That's all I can figure out about the easter egg ^^'' In general, it's a nice idea, I like the main menu and the game itself, yeah it's hard for me but I don't think the difficulty is bad. There are a lot of players who enjoy it and for some this might even feel easy, who knows?
Oct 8 01:10:19 7m 16s Voyd ♥ 1 Really like the music and the graphics, the green witch is super cute and ofc I chose her, it's so cool how you even made two characters to chose from! Honestly so impressive for 48 hours. The atmosphere of the game overall is dynamic, I like how it all feels... in movement. Like even the title screen. And the field shrinking was an interesting take on the theme; it made every time I miss more crucial, because it seemed to me like the field shrinks with every shot fired, so I had to try and hit the enemies more carefully w/o wasting any spell balls. My score wasn't really high, but I enjoyed the game ^^
Oct 8 01:47:01 36m 42s YOU KING HAVE FUN ♥ 2 first time i thought they died of hunger because I was too busy having sx, but then I dedicated myself to farming and they still died of hunger, so I realized I probably HAVE to murder them in cold blood to keep their numbers lower and I didn't really want to do that ^^" coughing sound/music was funny and the game is wacky. I am not violent enough for it though ;_;
Oct 8 02:02:05 15m 04s Sky Aisle ♥ 2 Very pretty main menu, beautiful graphics. Right from the screenshots the game reminds me of Hyperlight drifter. With the character animation and how the patterned blocks look, I don't know, there was that immediate connection. Don't know if you were inspired by that game. The graphics are a bit different of course, and the game does feel unique with its build mode and sky setting. I felt like graphics-wise the blocks looked much better than our character. Rotating animation on the block was also really nice. I didn't realize right away I have to carve out blocks for a "bridge" from a platform I was standing on. It kinda happened accidentally even. Loved the music, it might even be my favourite part of the game. It was very relaxing, and I enjoyed that slight tinkling. The sound effects were also satisfying. The movement felt smooth and comfortable; even though I am an expert at falling down the chasm in literally any game, I didn't do that badly here ^^ Tbh constructing the bridges was more difficult than actually jumping, especially the last bridge in the main game. I actually ended up getting invested and went on until the game told me I am done :D endSky.jpg
Oct 8 03:17:51 1h 15m Sip & Slime ♥ 2 I didn't realize right away that I have to drag the juice to the slime itself and tried to drag it to the order paper (and before that I tried just dragging fruit to the paper because I wasn't careful enough reading the instructions on the game page ^^'' and I started right away so ig I missed these lines you have on the screenshot... that's totally my bad tbh!) So first day went pretty badly as I was still figuring stuff out. Second day went much better obviously and I actually had fun, it was chill and cozy. Overall I think the game is fantastic, it looks polished and complete, graphics are perfect, gameplay is carefully crafted. Don't have anything bad to say about it. Maybe if you put it out there outside of jam, would be nice to add info on gameplay/controls in the game itself, like a "how to play" in the main menu, for example :3 Also, the slime is super cute! ^^
Oct 9 01:17:34 21h 59m The Confines ♥ 1 I did enjoy the game a lot, to be honest, it all went by in one breath! It wasn't too long, and dialogue was actually interesting and got me invested. I think the writing on this is really good. Also, I liked making choices through pressing numbers, I liked how you added a little animation of them walking, which made it easier to immerse myself in the story and really see it all happening, and I liked how the text was writing itself w/o me clicking for each new phrase - it actually made me feel like I am watching a small movie (text-based movie xD) that I can sometimes interact with :) I liked the dialogue choices and made the ones I would choose myself. In the end, I became friends with that dude and left the cell. I expected a choice there as well - I was going to leave, but was surprised there is no other choice. Also, I was greedily expecting some kind of final screen with the "title" of the ending (like Ending 1: Freedom, or something!), not even necessarily a CG, just a conclusion of sorts. Overall, I think the game is great. It also tackles some heavy topics, and as a russian, I had some personal feelings about Anton (as I see it, there can be some parallels drawn, and I would like for our president to be sent to prison for his crimes against humanity); however, I also tried to understand him as his own character and our MC as well.
Oct 9 01:33:09 15m 35s Postcards ♥ 1 First of all, as you asked for my opinion as a fellow Twine dev, I have to note that I used an older version of Twine, 1.4.2, and yours is clearly Twine 2. It has its perks, but I chose the older one after playing around with Twine 2 exactly because of the graphics. With Twine 2, you have to host your pictures and music somewhere in the internet, and it's not easy to actually implement them in the game. With Twine 1.4.2, it is very easy and pictures just have to be stored on your computer in the same folder as the game. As the game builds, it will incorporate the pictures. It didn't build in the music for me, however, but it might be because I wrote "calming.mp3" and the file was "Calming.mp3"; in any case, it was solved by including the music file in the ZIP archive. So, as you can see, Twine 1.4.2 makes adding graphics&sound easier. However, you definitely had more ways to play with *text* itself in Twine 2. About your game itself: + It made me think about my time in Netherlands several years ago :') - I think it's better to break up long pages into smaller ones; don't show me a wall of text right away - show it in parts. Make me work for it and click on the words to get another paragraph. It makes it easier to digest the same mount of information and makes the game more interactive. + I liked writing the postcard, was tempted to choose the most formal lines XD But I decided to make it look normal so here is mine: Hey Pal, glad you could be my pen friend during my backpack trip :) Holland has been amazing. I sent you a tulip. They said it'd reach you in 48 hours, hope it reached you and you liked it. Maybe make a Jam Game about it? Your Friend. ? I wonder if there is truly a limited space here and I shouldn't choose long options ? Overall, a cute premise, and takes you to the tulip fields for a bit, which feels nice :)
Oct 9 20:06:46 18h 33m A Barren Land ♥ 0 I felt a bit confused and just tried clicking evenly on everything and read what was going on on the right, watching them go unhappy and demand a war while I wonder what am I doing wrong xD To be honest I am not even sure what to suggest, didn't really see anything wrong with the game, and it looks nice, UI is pretty, it is convenient to use (though yeah it turns into a lot of clicking gradually...) Just as an idea would be cute to add some little pixel icons for "population", "weapons", "food" etc, and yeah some sounds when you click and yeah maybe an ability to choose bigger numbers (though I played some clicker games and the gameplay is to click, they usually give you more options to click less as you keep on playing!)
Oct 10 20:07:06 24h 00m The Rock ♥ 1 The art is beautiful, I love it so much! Especially that Fisherman from the fishing spot ^^ This style of minimalistic doodle is super cute, and honestly elevates the experiences, and also fits your story :) Of course, it would be nice to clear up the visuals a bit, when you have time after the Jam: if characters did not appear in boxes, that would be great, and if when items/characters disappear, they would not leave an awkward splosh in their place. Choosing a more unique font would be a great asset for your game as well. I really appreciate many things you did for the convenience of the player: like the volume toggle in the menu (would be fantastic to be able to access the options while already in game, but not sure how hard it would be to make!), the way to track the items we got, and the "skip scene" option. The latter especially came in handy when I decided to replay the game. At first I didn't realise I can potentially make other decisions. I just simply went and destroyed the rock, partly because I was curious to see if there is anything special inside. After getting reprimanded, I rushed to replay and try to do different things in the end, like leave w/o touching the rock. Out of curiousity, I tried getting the money stash on my 2nd playthrough, and I did get it - w/o asking the mayor first! That felt like stealing ^^' Then I went to the shop and got the dialogue with "see, it wasn't that hard" even though we didn't have our 1st dialogue yet, so to say ^^' So maybe locking the option to find money stash behind some line of "if" code would be a good idea? In the end of my 2nd playthrough, I didn't really discover new options ("Not yet" doesn't do anything, that's to be expected), Witch was not active anymore, and simply leaving the island just ended the game. I wonder if I missed something? I was hoping to see a "good ending" ^^'' The gameplay reminded me of 2D adventure games (quests), my favourite genre. I liked the moments when I had to find a money stash, or gather moss - tasks that motivated me to interact with the environment. About the writing: I did enjoy humour in this game, especially in the Fishing Spot dialogue. Sure, I would fix a few things here and there (technical stuff), but overall I enjoyed reading the dialogues. They are very simple for the most part, but it works for the game. I think you successfully made every character sound unique, and have their own voice. I liked the "Pebbles" nickname I got, it was really fun and cute. Finally, the music you chose was very nice, I enjoyed it and it was quite chill :) cute.jpg
Oct 11 00:16:01 4h 08m Bee Catcher ♥ 1 Nice and simple game, in theory could be made more challenging by increasing the number of bees on the screen gradually. The controls are easy and comfortable to use, and the visuals are nice enough, clear and colourful. I like the lizard especially, it looks cute. The background is nice as well, but I wonder if you could try it in different colours and see maybe another shade works better, because we are in the forest I assume, or some sorts of greenery, but BG looks more water-like. The animation of our stump rotating is nice, and it is a nice effort, but as of now the game can't be played for long. Maybe after the jam you could add more difficulty to it, and maybe more detailed background. It could be made in more bullethell-like game or in more of a clicker game, I think as of now you have a good base that you can use to create something a bit more complex ^^
Oct 11 02:49:45 2h 33m FELL OUT ♥ 2 Really good graphics, puts you right in the mood. Limited colour palette looks stylish and gives a great impression. I was drawn to the game initially exactly because of graphics. Then, the music is fantastic. It sounds like classic music, but it strangely works well with the whacky-ness of the game, creating a unique feeling. The dialogue was funny because of it being overly casual and also fit the vibe of the game well. I liked character animation a lot (especially in the beginning when these two bent backwards!), and the way camera was moving while I am walking. "Voices" did sound good and not annoying or creepy at all. I was pleasantly surprised I could go into the water (w/o the boat, by myself)! Even though I drowned after going bit too far, it feels so good to be able to interact with it. The smooth floaty jump felt unusual, but I can't decide if I like it or I don't ^^' Sometimes it felt bit hard for me to navigate the boat; and an option to open a map in game itself would be a nice addition for after-jam development. Can't say for sure why exactly, but something about this game reminded me of Don't Starve, and I like that :) Overall, it's impressive how much you got done in just three days! A whole little world with several islands and quests, beautiful graphics, smooth mechanics, gorgeous music ^^
Oct 11 11:07:02 8h 17m The Big Crunch ♥ 3 To give an honest jam rating, I started with "Jam" version. It's cool how you made it a choice so I could try out both versions. The suggestions I write here are taking into account changes you've already made for the updated version. + In the 'change a row' part, would be nice to have a more clear understanding of row borders, by some visual cues like lines, streaks in the BG, etc. + When I have to dash from the sun, if I just mash ALL the buttons (wasd) I go so fast it's not even an issue getting away. I know the game overall is easy, but not sure if that's how you wanted it to be. + I like how you highlighted the target zone for landing in the updated version, it's so much better this way! Overall: I really liked the game! It's quite addictive, with simple mechanics. The way you change up randomly between different tasks keeps it fresh for a longer period of time. Graphics are definitely my taste, music and sounds are great, and it is fun! At first I was a bit confused as I am a slow reader, so I was still reading&processsing the instructions and did very badly in the levels because of that ^^'' but I think that's not a huge issue as you can repeat the levels however much you want ^^
Oct 11 21:14:32 10h 07m Illusion ♥ 2 The hamster is very cute! Had to press all the keys on the keyboard to figure out how to proceed, a simple message on the screen "Press Enter" would do the job. I thought I am supposed to gather water drops and that's how I ended up dying for the 1st time xD The "V" platform - didn't realize you can only stand on upper corners. I think the disctinction between what you can/can't stand on and what you are supposed to gather should be more clear. If the drops are just a part of BG, they should blend in. I like the platformer genre, and it is pretty easy and feels nice. The high jump was surprising; I think the mechanics could be worked on a bit further. The ending was sad and felt like I did sth wrong (?) But I didn't find any other ending. Poor hamster :(
Oct 11 21:39:24 24m 52s The Long Night of Augustus Brandicourt ♥ 4 Was looking forward to your new game after Becasse against the depths. And I love it! The art is gorgeous! The models in the game itself look good too. Very atmospheric music. Pressing E to interact felt pretty un-intuitive, would be nice to tell the controls in-game as well. I kinda pressed play right away and just found E by pressing on all the buttons, only then went back to this page to confirm the controls ^^' Yeah, the items are highlighted with "E", but at first, when you got a text box, you are at a loss. I like how you executed the idea of "limited space", it feels like a very original take to me, while still staying true to the theme. And it is shown in the gameplay AND makes sense for the story, which is double great. Pretty funny how I got out of bounds though: bounds.jpg One of the portraits in the corridor showing a character from your previous game Becasse against the depths was a nice easter egg ^^ Overall: it was a beautiful short story, and I liked the way you gave the information, that felt natural and gave us pretty much all the info we needed. the ending is quite sweet as well, I really liked the kinda-animated CG there :) And a cute Ending screen as well, very satisfying. I wonder how the children are going to live now, as I don't think we made any changes to the will (maybe it's not even possible as we are a ghost) (and I tried interacting with the will again before I interacted with Edmund) but I guess the main thing is that we regret our actions and that we did give our son a blessing <3 + There was less wandering around than in Becasse, and I liked the controls. The mechanic is also great, and I enjoyed slowly uncovering the rooms. The items are highlighted from far enough distance. I DID wander around a bit looking for new spaces BUT I am *very* directionally challenged and still it didn't take too long. Thank you for the game, it was a great experience!! ^^
Oct 11 22:19:45 40m 21s Silicon Boulevard 2 - No Space to Kill ♥ 2 + I downloaded the PC version as embedded HTML was cropping the window too much and I couldn't read the lines. Chill music, nice art (I love pixels! and the watercolour-like portraits were great). Interesting mechanic with trashing/choosing thoughts, though I am not sure if I got it completely. I did get through it though, but not sure if I executed it the way I should have. Trashed all the red thoughts, even the binary code, then dragged all upper thoughts to the red box and only then saw a message what to do next; dragged the longest phrase (about the last thought) on the portrait and got "Bye". Dragging others didn't do anything after that. Controls of moving are pretty understandable, but maybe would we nicer to walk on WASD/arrows or adjust the movement with the mouse a bit. Maybe make the movement itself a bit faster or more linear. Adding the animation for side movement (looking to left/right) would be great. I was very dedicated to going through the door and got myself out of bounds: bounds2.jpg And then couldn't get back for a while: bounds3.jpg But I was very dedicated and found a way. I am pretty sure I got INTO the door while I was spamming left and right click on it and I went like a knife in soft butter. However, the other way around was MUCH harder. I figured out I have to go in really really small steps, clicking right in front of me. My character was shaking but we got out alright. Meeting the Oiler, I figured out "Bye" in the dialogue window wasn't an answer and I am an idiot. I dragged all my phrases to the Oiler to talk to him. And this, I think, is a really inventive dialogue mechanic. Also the way I can take his words to my arsenal feels really cool. But you should definitely explain it all better. I see that tutorial is in works and it really is needed :( I managed to talk to myself again by clicking on myself, and the dialogue window of my character just didn't change like the Oiler's did. So I still was left confused by that. Went through the smiley face on the wall super easily, wasn't even trying much, just clicked on it: bounds4.jpg After talking to the barmen once, he got stuck on Why - Insurance Fraud. Just as I was thinking "ah, I must not be able to feed the characters their own phrases" and started gettin excited about the mystery in this story, this dude stopped reacting to my words. I decided to "reset", said bye and tried talking to him again. Only he wasn't having it. At all. I walked all over him around him and into him and he stayed silent T_T After that I tried to exit the bar and had to use my small-steps-technique to get through the black out-of-bounds space. While getting back in again was as easy as my first time: I clicked on door and got teleported to the bar. The barmen was willing to talk, but then I realised he only can answer a few of my questions I already got answers from him for. Also I started wondering what all that talk about a password was about if I got into the bar without it. Only after visiting the bar 2 times I talked to the Oiler again, spammed all my phrases on him and learned the password is "Knock". Maybe I used it on him before while I was spamming my phrases? But I don't think so... I wanted to feed it to the barmen but he was ignoring me again. When I finally forced him to speak, he wasn't interested in my password at all and didn't want to say anything new. Breaking into the stuff room just got me out of bounds again. That's where I finally felt utterly and completely lost and gave up. + This character design is my absolute favourite: design.jpg + Overall, I was impressed with character design and world design, I think this has such a great potential! The most important part to work on is technical one, so I don't get stuck on things and get out of bounds. Then the movement speed. Tutorial / more clear instructions for the dialogue system. + I liked the atmosphere a lot and gameplay looks promising. I ran out of sy
Oct 11 23:10:53 51m 08s Realistic Falling Blocks ♥ 2 Started with 2.0, the first published version - I assume, what you did in three days. It worked fine for me, the blocks were appearing by themselves and I tried my best to place them relatively accurately. I think the physics were pretty realistic, blocks weren't appearing too fast, and though it was hard for me to place them carefully, I don't think it was supposed to too easy. I'd say they started falling after I pretty much covered the "floor". Then I clicked on the last version on itch.io (version 0.55 HTML link) and it was so completely different xD I can see how much you improved it from the 1st version. It is much more pleasing to look at, compared to the raw version. Cute intro (though I tried clicking at first), very nice models of non-placed-yet-blocks (probably my fav visual feature), music and sounds are great, colour helped a lot. I actually started making rows that disappeared, and appreciated a little "support" that placed my blocks a bit more carefully for me after I press Space. It is so much nicer when I have a bit more time to place a block and can initiate the next one myself, but I think it's a great call to keep some internal timer that can run out. Tbh not sure if I want the timer to be shown to me, I kinda like the beeps instead, looking at seconds/milliseconds would make me nervous. Got to this point: blocks.jpg The rows underneath are all green, however some blocks were a bit "higher" and not in a completely straight line heligh-wise with others, probably that's why they didn't count even though they were green. + Overall, it's a cool take on a (tetris-like?) game, and good job on continuing the proccess&making changes! It's definitely paying off!
Oct 11 23:29:00 18m 07s ROLLiE and the Desert Drive ♥ 4 Cute visuals (enemy designs are not too complex but cute and compelling, the UI is nice, and I just love the box with text that appears before/after the battles!), inviting main menu and some quite unusual music. Not sure if I personally like these mechanicy-squishy sounds in the rhythm of the music track (not sure how to describe them >_<) but overall music sounds cool and complex (to me :')) Props for showing controls in the corner, that really helped. The text is big and comfortable to read, I appreciate that as well. I played through a few opponents and have to say you created an interesting battle system! It is complicated enough, but not TOO complicated, it is fun to use, you have to think, respond to your opponent's actions - and you also made use of the limited space theme! The enemy ability to just destroy one of my abilities on my panel made me sad :") + Overall: honest thoughts - I would love to see this battle system as a part of RPG/adventure game. Just going through battle to battle got me tired pretty quick (of course as a Jam entry your game is fantastic!! you made something great in a limited time) and I resorted to filling my line with SMACKS AFTER SMACKS. That's when I thought: I love the mechanic, but I don't want several battles like this in a row. If (in theory!) we could walk around exploring the map and getting some kind of story, and sometimes ran into enemies and had to fight them, for me personally it would be a banger! Ofc other people might have different opinions (just looking at the previous comment before me, they obviously got in a groove and didn't mind endless fighting), just wanted to share my point of view ^^ Thanks for the game! I had fun trying out your fighting mechanic :)
Oct 11 23:39:45 10m 45s InsideMe ♥ 1 Really cute UI, and I love the palette! The clouds are my favourite UI detail. I liked the freedom of drawing lines, and it actually was super fun! I also like how I can continue from any level and don't have to just start from the very beginning. On lvl 3 I realised I have to push my character to the final portal with my lines, in first 2 lvls it kinda just happened by itself ^^' Cool to see a variety of enemies, and their designs are really cool. Sounds you chose worked well enough for the game. Just wanted to write that gameplay isn't too hard (I write as I play) when I got to level 6 and started failing dramatically ;_; I think you have to be really fast with your lines/drawing. I like the exciting aspect of it, though. + Overall, for me it's a solid entry and a fantastic job for a 3-day game, especially made by one person! I liked it ^^
Oct 11 23:52:07 12m 22s The Jazz Cat ♥ 3 Game looks very stylish, starting from minimalistic, but cool-looking and animated main menu. Music is fabulous, the vibe and the concept of this place is so cool! I like the retro-vibe in graphics, animations are pleasing, and a rare "meow" makes me happy. The paw for a cursor looks impressive at first, but didn't feel comfortable to use during the puzzle part. I didn't figure out right away I should walk towards the kitchen and was just clicking at the screen like an idiot. I think a hint could be added to the game itself ^^ I didn't do well at the very first puzzle at all, and my cat didn't want to put blocks outside of the tray anymore. fail.jpg Then I looked back at your page here and slowly realized that I am not supposed to fill 100% of it necessarily. Went right and earned some money and thought whew, I didn't completely fail this game xD Finished! finishedPaw.jpg + It was a great experience, I enjoyed the game and it wasn't too hard/long. Maybe should've read through the instructions more carefully before playing, but oh well, I got it in the process, I guess :0 Thank you for the game, a really impressive entry, especially the atmosphere you created! <3
Oct 11 23:57:44 5m 37s Honk pong ♥ 1 You took a really old classic, one of the simplest and first computer games, and made something new and exciting out of it. The ball looks ethereal, sounds are satisfying, the duck art is gorgeous (I am weak to doodles lol) and the circle around us clearly shows our hitbox. That's a really cool entry, even though I sucked at it and lost big time! XD
Oct 12 00:08:07 10m 23s This is fine ♥ 2 The visuals got me so impressed my jaw hurts from hitting the floor. The art is just GORGEOUS!!! The best I saw so far, just absolutely love it, 6 out of 5 <3 The title is perfect ofc as it reminds me of my fav meme. this-is-fine_custom-dcb93e90c4e1548ffb16978a5a8d182270c872a9.jpg And judging from the game concept, you were thinking of that meme as well. I was a bit confused on the gameplay though. Went back to this page a lot, reading about controls and figuring the game out. In the long run you could add little names&descriptions to spells. As I am very unobservant, it seems, I also didn't realize right away we have turns, active characters switching - a short tutorial at the start of the game will be a nice after-jam addition! I did slowly figure out what to do, but it seems the fire reaching the garden is inevitable anyway, which makes the game pretty depressing (it's not a con, I don't mind a depressing game, just sayin), so some anxious/dramatic music could be a great addition for when you add sounds. Say, you start with a more peaceful melody with some hints of anxiety, but then it escalated as fire grows closer (if it's possible to do ofc, just an idea). + Overall, not only art and UI are stunning, you also implemented the theme perfectly and created a unique and interesting gameplay. Really enjoyed this one!
Oct 12 00:24:17 16m 10s Waterskin ♥ 2 That is such a calm and relaxing experience~ I loved the graphics with huge pixels and the parchment UI, though I am not sure if these two artstyles work well together. I enjoyed little encounters I had and the choices I got to make. The mechanic you added, with inventory and camp and all the actions we can do there - is great. However, I quickly ran out of water and it wasn't that easy to replenish, came down mostly to luck. And so my journey ended. Thank you for a nice relaxing game, I chose the perfect one to play before going to sleep x) water.jpg
Oct 12 22:59:25 22h 35m Under the Spot ♥ 1 Very inventive puzzle system! It reminds me of some many different games and mechanics: Zelda Between the Worlds, Contrast, a bit of Walk in the Dark, we have a platformer merged with puzzle elements - and it all works together so well to create a beautiful game! I love the visuals and the animation of the mouse jumping is so fun, it looks like a little crow. The difference between the two mouse models is great, I like the stark contrast. The game itself is difficult enough, not too easy, interesting to play :) And you incorporated the limited space idea perfectly. I think it could go on steam as a great game ppl would pay to play, maybe add a little story to it and go ^^
Oct 12 23:34:08 34m 43s Limited 2 Space ♥ 0 The game looks fantastic, really nice art, everything is so neat and clean, and the mechanic is quite unusual. I like how you made an inventive twist to controlling the character. The main menu was confusing in a good way. I completed a few levels through it (starting from lvl 2 as I wanted to click on the higher block in menu) and then after a simpler level I got to a text screen with some lore about the story which was so mysterious and interesting; however, after getting that screen I couldn't proceed with the game. Tried pressing all buttons and clicking the mouse, nothing helped :( But I think I tested it enough to draw some conclusions. The mechanic requires a lot of patience, so it feels a bit hard for me, and having to wait for desired option is a bit unfun. However, I still like the approach and I think it can be loved by many players!
Oct 13 00:12:09 38m 01s Purr-fect Bedtime ♥ 1 Decided to play it before bed and got through all 5 levels. The premise is brilliant, and the art looks perfect! Cats are super cute, music is chill and relaxing, the whole experience is just perfect. However, I wasn't intimidated by the puzzles at all as I literally folded my body into a pretzel, possibly breaking all my bones (if I ever had any) and crawled like a worm to the edge of the pillow! xD That is funny, but might be a bit creepy for a cute&chill game like this one ^^'' Maybe the mechanic could be worked on a bit more :) The 5th day where I crawled onto the floor was hilarious. We just keep getting more and more cats, we need to buy a few new beds soon...
Oct 13 00:19:04 6m 55s Hydro Rise ♥ 1 I love the creepy atmosphere, the visuals and music really add to it!
Oct 13 00:23:27 4m 23s The Spellswapper of the Dark Forest ♥ 1 Can't seem to get the game to work, it opens as just a black screen. I can hear the music, but nothing is happening (tried clicking and pressing buttons as well): notworking.jpg
Oct 13 00:30:39 7m 12s Space Freight Ltd. ♥ 3 Very nice UI, checked out options too, loved the sliders there ^^ Main menu is inviting, and the music is great. Audio effects are also enjoyable. The gameplay itself is so chill and relaxing, only the movement can feel a bit taxing sometimes, you have to be quite careful not to overshoot for example, be careful with turning, etc. I like quality of life assets, like the mini-map. We even can explore a universe, which is really cool! The planets are so beautiful! I assume "limited space" comes in our container :) Great game ^^
Oct 13 00:45:31 14m 52s Room Life ♥ 1 This is super enjoyable. I immediately felt relaxed and drawn in as I started the game. The graphics are really my taste. Then, the game gets very realistic. Hey, that's almost like my everyday life, only with literature translating instead of drawing! :') And I wish coffee could restore that much energy, lol xD Poor girl, I already got her at 0 energy at the start of day 3 and she doesn't even want coffee anymore! She didn't want to even get up from bed or at least sleep some more. So that's when the game ended for me ;_; + I'd say for me sound effects are too loud, compared to music. + Felt like music is only playing in the left headphone. Checked a random youtube video - it was playing in both, left and right. But this game music - only in the left one. + Some words in dialogue were highlighted, and I felt like I should interact with them, but I couldn't. Maybe simply make them bold/italic to simply stress the word. + It would be interesting if the daytime was limited and we were on a bit of a time crunch, so to say. Adding a bit more interactable objects could be fun too. Just some ideas.
Oct 13 00:54:57 9m 26s Unsprung ♥ 2 Limited jumps is like torture for me as I love just jumping all the time in all the games that allow it xD But that's such a unique thing to limit, and creates an interesting mechanic! The graphics are nice, I like the purple lanterns. Colour palette is very pretty! I couldn't really figure out the yellow power-up. Took me several tries to realize how to actually activate it (I thought it is automatic and I should like, use space bit later, in the air) and figured to click on its picture in the corner! Then still fell to my death going to the purple (portal?) ;_; You really have to get the timing right I guess? Jumping felt hard sometimes, like it wouldn't work at all(?) or just felt clunky to use. Couldn't really get far unfortunately, did like 20 tries on yellow orb room but couldn't do it >_<
Oct 13 00:56:50 1m 53s STOP BURYING ME ALIVE, BEAUTIFUL! ♥ 2 Decided not to play&rate it because of the trigger warning, but wanted to leave a comment about the graphics - from the screenshots they look crazy beautiful, and your game cover is fantastic as well!!
Oct 17 20:48:56 115h 52m Agent Cat - Mewssion Fridge ♥ 1 Wow that's pretty hard! :D Got a bit of effort to make it work, but managed to boot the game. Actually enjoyed it a lot, probably will play some more again! First try I died from a vacuum cleaner, then from not going into boxes enough, then from hunger xD I like how everything looks, it's just super fun, cat reactions are cute, and the idea makes a lot of sense for the theme - limited space ^^ And robot vacuum cleaners are indeed scary! My cat always worries (though less than from a regular vacuum) and follows me around, probably thinking I can protecc her :')
Oct 17 21:08:01 19m 05s Crime Critters (Rob the British Museum) ♥ 1 Fun premise, I got curious from seeing the mugshots and I love the graphics in game too, the gameplay made me invested and I just grabbed the biggest things I could xD Loved the mechanic of price dropping if you damage the item, that's quite smart and makes sense. I am super clumsy tho so... First tried Jam version, decided to be super careful and got away with just a few big items: robbery.jpg Loved that final CG, makes me really happy ^^ I am not sure if it's my bias or sth but I felt like in updated version you also changed movement a bit for the better? I am not sure but it felt faster and smoother. But maybe I just got more used to it by then? 2ndrobbery.jpg Playing updated version, I couldn't manage to drive away. Got into my truck thru the door, pressed everything - nope. Not sure what did I do right the first time ;_;
Oct 17 21:17:37 9m 36s The Giant's Globe ♥ 3 I like that it is a platformer, one of my favourite genres ^^ The cover for the game is just stunning! The visuals in game are nice and consistent. Main character's design heavily reminded me of Junkrat from Overwatch xD The gameplay mechanic with picking up abilities and having them activated in order was pretty interesting. The game felt a bit hard for me personally as I constantly underjumped xD
Oct 17 21:26:11 8m 34s 2 Dudes against the Liquidator ♥ 2 That's a cool premise, pretty funny xD I struggled a bit especially to rotate pieces to fit through the entrances, but I think the idea itself is nice, and I like how forgiving you made the placement, basically on corner of the couch touches the required space - you are good xD maybe even a bit too forgiving maybe? :) but overall I think the game is hard enough :D
Oct 17 21:34:45 8m 34s cyber_serpent ♥ 2 Wow, that's the best take on the old "Snake" game I ever saw +_+ I didn't realize it right away, but halfway through playing it suddenly struck me xD and I am a big sucker for nostalgia! The audio for the game is just fantastic, definitely giving this one full 5 for audio because it's the best I heard in this jam, for me personally. It fits the game so well, music and sounds, and at the same time somehow adds to my feeling of nostalgia <3 Loved the enemies designs as well, so unique and pretty. Really cool game!
Oct 17 21:57:10 22m 25s The Little House That Had Been Very Good This Year ♥ 1 Really cute and cozy, I love the atmosphere and how the room looks, especially that cute figurine in the right corner. I found it a bit funny I could drop a present through the tree: elka.jpg At first I didn't realize I have to stack the presents ^^'' So I was wondering why I am failing puttin presents on a seemingly free space on the floor: tryagain.jpg Then I went to itch.io to play and had a much easier experience: realized I have to stack and made a bit of a tower. Here is my result: results!.jpg Very cozy game overall, so christmas-y and cute, love the athmosphere <3
Oct 17 22:24:44 27m 34s Whiskers in the Dark ♥ 4 First of all, levels look really pretty, I love the design of this game, as well as the atmosphere you've created. It reminded me a bit of Walk in the Dark, a platformer I really enjoyed, where you also play as a cat and the background is dark, etc. However, the gameplay here feels different: in Walk in the Dark you have to be fast and react fast, here I had another approach of getting into a safe spot, waiting a bit, getting to another safe spot, checking out the situation, moving on, rinse and repeat. That said, I did enjoy the gameplay a lot. It is hard enough but not too hard. The climbing/sticking to walls and bouncing off them mechanic felt a bit uncomfortable to me, but in general I made do. I like the scary Wallmasters that grab you in the light, really adds to atmosphere (calling them Wallmasters or Floormasters because they remind me of Zelda monsters who also grab you and send you to the entrance of the dungeon). I liked that I had to restart only the level itself, not to go to the very beginning. Overall it was a beautiful experience, thank you for this wonderful game! <3 cat.jpg
Oct 17 22:44:37 19m 53s Gridlock: A Tiny RTS ♥ 2 It's so cool to see a voiced game in a Jam, and I really like voice acting here! And you even added lines for soldiers to say, it feels nice as well, and having several voices here too. I checked Credits page in game itself and thought it might be nice to also add all the Credits to the itch.io page :) I read the instructions carefully, took a bit of time to figure out all the controls (since I tried w/o reading instructions at first xD) Have to admit though even after I got it mainly figured out - I wasn't very good at this game :') It seems I have some different types of soldiers, but visually they do not differ? And as far as I can see from descriptions, it's the difference of personality solely? Obviously it's fantastic how much you got done for a Jam game, but for the future updates it would be so cool to see different visuals for soldiers, and different abilities ^^ or maybe they do have different abilities and I didn't realize this? >_> I find it cool I can position each unit separately, creating any battle formation I could desire, and at the same time it's easy to group them all together again. Overall I think it's a very interesting type of gameplay, I like the strategy angle ^^
Oct 17 23:03:57 19m 20s But we still love each other ♥ 2 Interesting idea, and a fitting choice of music :) The assets look nice. I liked that we can choose any combination of two players. Unfortunately I played it alone, but I can see it being so much more fun playing together! That's a lot of controls to remember though 3_3 Also! The lines you show when someone drops off bed are fun ^^
Oct 17 23:34:00 30m 03s Still Afloat ♥ 0 I saw your game in 0 ratings category, it's unfortunate you couldn't finish it in time :( and I wanted to leave a comment. Thought I'd play just a bit to get a feel of the game, ended up completing it! Kinda got into a groove and simply couldn't stop playing :) finalStand.jpg Made my final stand and finished the game, barely defended my flag xD I loved your game a lot, it was really fun. I especially loved my attack animation, SO CUTE! >v< Blood effect on dying seals made a bit sad though. I want my full no-gore-whatsoever-murderstyle %) The seals themselves are also adorable with these little food utensils. Dialogue is fun and vibrant, but I had a hard time figuring out some big (capital case) letters in this font :( I mean, I did get them by context, but not right away. Overall, great game - engaging, fun and pretty, and music fits as well! I guess we drowned in the end but I am gonna imagine a sea plane came to rescue us xD
Oct 17 23:50:26 16m 26s Tracked ♥ 1 The sensitivity of the mouse/cursor felt a bit too high. Maybe because I am used to slow sens due to shooters, but it made playing the game harder for me. That said, I love the horror atmosphere you created through visuals and sounds. The sound of door opening/closing reminds me of a monster breathing. Playing this at 3 am was not my best idea T_T Wasn't easy to get the active area to highlight sometimes, had to move my mouse around a lot, and my eyes quickly got tired from pixel hunting in the semi-dark. I was super scared the whole time, barely made the final key highlight and then WHAT? "that was a driver in the bathroom behind me the whole time"??? How do I interpret this??? Well, I guess that's a good ending lol xD AND YOU GOT ME SO SCARED GOD DAMN!
Oct 17 23:59:06 8m 40s rosie's escape ♥ 2 Cute little graphics. I like Rosie's angry face xD Overall, I'd say it's a pink take on Zelda-style game, and I do like pink. There seem to be some bugs and issues as of now, entering the building zone is confusing&bit too wide, roll I would make shorter, BIG THANKS to @edearth for writing down the controls!! I wouldn't be able to do much without that helpful comment. Then, I learned how to attack, and you even made an animation for this, but I think it could be made a bit more clear. Coins look cute. Suddenly, my character just made off the screen for no reason in particular and I never saw her again. disappeared.jpg Would love to see more tweaks&improvements in the future!
Oct 18 00:07:13 8m 07s Ship-Shape ♥ 0 I liked little graphics and general feel of the game, got confused on gameplay at first, then figured it out on my second try. I think adding a little arrow on the first screen, like how you did on the bigger one with four arrows, would be a huge improvement, as I am an idiot and was just standing at the wheel then trying to get to the edge for water and wondering how/what to do before I realised I can go to another section of the ship x_x Overall - I like how you created this nerve wracking atmosphere of having to run a ship alone! The water was really decreasing quickly xD I had fun playing a bit even though I am not a fan of time limits ^^ + cute mini games
Oct 18 00:12:42 5m 29s The Hallway ♥ 0 Nice job creating a Twine game like this, honestly I wouldn't have guessed it was made in Twine, impressive! Cursor felt a bit buggy sometimes tho. Nice visuals, nice ambience. I guess we saw the light in the end of the tunnel and made it out alive xD at least that's what I concluded :)
Oct 18 20:46:06 20h 33m Packing for Dracobeach: the Limited Space Conundrum ♥ 2 It's impressive how much effort went into this game! Printed the sheets today and sat down with tea and my mom to play together. Reading through the rules, slowly realized it was probably meant for 1 player. Moreover, we only had 2 dice (FINALLY I got to use these as I always carry them with all my essentials but don't get to use for anything! xD) and we struggled to grasp the rules from the get-go (I generally try to digest the rules while playing already!) So, we maybe changed the intended way of playing a bit, to play together and make do with 2 dice. We each took one and chose a dragon at the start of each round (would be fun to randomize a dragon too ofc but oh well) and then rolled our dice and went to the caves. We did our best placing items according to rules, but as we mostly had 2 dragons going to caves each day, I wasn't sure if I should subtract empty spaces in the end. I filled in the score we got (40) and then counted empty spaces and gave us -1 for each instead of 3, thus optionally bringing the score to 19 (I am not good at math so mom did the counting) I hope you don't mind we tweaked it a bit, I did my best to mostly adhere to the rules, and my mom's English is not very good so I was the only one reading the rules and relaying it to her. Overall, it was fun and I love the visuals, everything looks so professional and cute!! And you made a cool system, really thought out - I put the papers away for now and will try them again after I have more time to delve into the rules bit more and maybe play with a friend who knows English too ^^ I like how you implemented the theme of limited space as well. And a concept overall seems very unique to me. That was a delight, thank you for the game! <3 photo_2023-10-18_23-33-51.jpg
Oct 18 23:06:28 2h 20m Meme Mania: Lost in the Labyrinth ♥ 1 That's pretty funny, cool music really makes the atmosphere of the game, I like these memes especially my fav is that kitty that opens their mouth as a huge O xD I did get some issues fitting thru the entrance sometimes, but I feel like it was mostly in one place near the very first room, going to the right >_>
Oct 19 12:06:46 13h 00m Escape The Phantom Seascape! ♥ 1 I really like the game you made (have to say I enjoy point and click adventures), the visuals are fantastic, the atmosphere is great, I loved how some rooms changed (with the dog when I clicked on the lamp and with the chef when time started running out), and the water rising added to the feeling of urgency. Unfortunately, I didn't get too far on my first try, and had to pixelhunt a bit after going thru all the rooms to find some more items, and a few items looked a bit puzzling to me, but overall I think the difficulty of the game is just right. Highlighted in red, an item - I have no idea what it is: puzzlingItem.jpg I filled in the portrait (before it was just black) but my MC is not impressed? portrait.jpg Found a number to dial and got this, thanks customer service, you helped so much XD (not sure if it's just for lore or I should get some info from this? As I already did the clock near the chef by luck and didn't even register what time I put there ^^'') thanks guys.jpg Finally, that's my ending: ending.jpg
Oct 19 14:38:52 2h 32m Rush Hour ♥ 1 Interesting concept, and the game looks really cute. I love the characters, especially when they are happy and glowing ^_^ Music is nice, calming but fun at the same time. The control of movement didn't feel very smooth to be, but that might be subjective. I would love it if I could simply click on the place for them to go ^^
Oct 19 15:41:58 1h 03m Choo Choo Kitchen ♥ 2 I looked through the comments a bit which made me realize I have to look for the train. I looked around and did find it, and it is incredibly cute. I love how it starts rolling when I place the road, it is just super adorable and looks smooth. I found control pretty smooth and comfortable to use as well. However, when you have time to make after-jam-updates, it would be great to highlight the train in the beginning so the player gets right away where to build from. The music is nice and upbeat, and graphics look really inviting (I was looking through fun games to play on the last day and this one caught my attention because it looks cozy&cute and I love cooking ^^) When I started placing the road, the train started going right away and reached the end fast; then, I couldn't continue building in front of it, while new trains started coming and going into each other and disappearing behind my 1st one. cantbuild.jpg I gave it a 2nd try and realized I ran out of money already while building the road. Even though the 1st try I bought all the appliances AND placed some road pieces, the 2nd time I started with the road right away and couldn't even get it to the nearest box of veggies - money ran out >_< I managed to create almost a complete road to tomatoes on the 3rd try and started thinking that I am probably doing something very wrong. tomatoroad.jpg I feel like the concept is really cool and has a lot of potential, but I need a bit of guiding! ^^''
