Good game made on unreal engine, I like the fact that you have time before dying underwater, it adds to the gameplay loop.
The ending's camera movement are crazy and I love them!
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD54 → Hydro Rise

I feel a little bit off about the cover image being a render that doesn't look at all like the game.
The game itself was OK, not much to do, hard to fail (I did the last 3 floors without seeing the water). The text at the beginning was too fast for me, I wasn't able to read it. I liked that I could see outside, as it gave a little depth to outrunning a world ending event. You could have let the player at the top of the building at the end letting us with nothing to do but die.
I'm genuinely curious: what is making the game so big in term of file size ? It's not the first unreal game that has a big file size compare to what's in it.
game was very fun, really liked the concept!
A good foundation for an interesting game. Fits the theme very well, and the music adds to the rushing/clostraphobic nature of the game. I think a few puzzles for each floor, or way to decrease the flow would be a good start.
It also felt like I was never in any real danger unless I stopped moving. Maybe there's a trade of for loss of oxygen and rate of rising water.
It was also quite intensive on my machine, maybe all the buidlings in the background added to that?
1gb is indeed a bit too much for a jam game. I have downloaded and played it only because you have acknowledged it in text:) As for gameplay - I am not a big dan of the "raising water" levels in game. But at least here the objective is clear and it's not too hard to win.
Btw, make sure to rate and comment other games. It directly affects your game visibility and hence votes/comments I did not know about it when first participated and only got 1 (one) rating :)
I was thoroughly impressed by the stunning graphics and the incredible detail put into the water in this game. It's a visual feast, and I can't wait to see how this promising title evolves and potentially becomes an even more expansive and immersive experience.
Played 'Hydro Rise' and the sense of urgency with the rising water is thrilling! The monochromatic design adds to the suspense. The concept is great, especially for a first solo jam. For improvement, maybe add clearer cues or objectives? Regardless, it's an impressive effort. Keep it up!
Nice take on the theme
I don't like the fact that you used Unreal for such a game as it make my computer fly away just to render two buildings and a water plane but okay x) In game jams you go with what you're most familiar with!
No bugs or anything, I guess I'm blind because I had trouble finding the exists on some floors.
Felt like I was in the backrooms lol, good game!
Awesome game. The graphics are really nice. And the rising water makes the whole maze quite thrilling to explore. Found it a bit too easy but it was a great time overall.
Awesome job!
A simple and pretty fun little game idea. I overall had fun trying this game. The mazes could maybe have been a bit complex, but I don't see at as a big issue. Overall a pretty good jam game. Well done.
This is a really basic maze game. Not a big fan. It does look decent, but I feel like it's mostly just because unreal looks pretty amazing out of the box.
Also, did you enable VR mode by accident? It started steamVR when I launched the game.
Still, good job on doing this solo, I find it really hard to motivate myself to do something on my own. Keep it up!
good game, it worked, which is a huge part of this. I played it to the end. Looked good too. Good work
This is really ambitious for a solo game! It is also incredibly stressful to play. I agree that some more cues in the maze would have been interesting—I mostly got through on guesswork, which worked great for a few floors until I ended up at a **downward** stair. It sounds like for some people the rising water wasn’t that challenging, which suggests to me either that they’re way better at mazes or guessing than me (very possible) or that the water was rising some fixed amount per tick, without taking the delta-time into account. If the latter’s the case, it might be worth keeping an eye out for that in future, or people with high-refresh-rate screens will have a way harder time in your games  Anyway—nice work!
Great game! I liked how for the first few levels the maze is designed in a way to keep tension high but not making dead ends so I wouldn't be punished for having bad luck XD. Maybe you could change things up for the higher levels? I figured out the pattern of the stairs being at the center so it became a bit repetitive for a while. But seeing the stairs reaching to the outside was super cool! I would love to explore the empty rooftop and look at the surroundings for a few seconds after I reached the top.
Great idea, looks good too, good job !
Where is my boat, I drown after all
Probably the biggest LD game I've ever downloaded, might be worth trying to reduce the size next time! Was a fun maze game. Not too innovative, but the time pressure from the rising water was interesting and raised the stakes a little, making it feel tense. The lighting/shaders were very pretty, and the music/sound was nice and suited the game. Thankfully I escaped, and enjoyed the little camera swoops at the end - nice job & congrats on your first solo jam!
Nice game! I liked the visual choices and the subtle storytelling through the text, which added nuance to an otherwise simple idea. Well done!
Good job! It would be cool if there were simple puzzles here and there that you had to solve, opening doors etc.
I got through the game the second time! It's a very good game!)
Wow, the first Unreal Engine entry I came across! The graphics is very beautiful, I like the chromatic aberration effect and color changing when the player is submerged, combined with the bubble sound, they really capture the underwater feeling and atmosphere. Although the idea was simple, but the continuous rising of water really made it feel tense and thrilling.
The download size is kinda large for a jam game, I suggest trying to optimize it to reduce the size next time. And the levels are a little repetitive, something like doors to open of obstacles to avoid would be nice to see.
But overall, great solo entry with Unreal! You did a good job!
Not a bad idea
I was not expecting to be that addicted to a simple maze game. But you made the right choice and being under water was punishing enough to make the player rush but not too much to become infuriating. And every time you encounter a climbing stair was like a small victory, really nice feeling!
Interesting maze game! I slowly got a little feel and some tactics going - and I made it in my first run! The graphics and mood and pretty nice. Would have loved a little bit more set dressing perhaps, and perhaps a slightly less dark ending
Tense atmosphere, well conveyed by music and effects.
it's very pretty and the audio is cool
Moody creepy mazing style gulp gulp oops game. xD I did make it to the top! What would happen if the whole world went underwater? :D nice
I love the creepy atmosphere, the visuals and music really add to it!
A solo game in unreal in this short time with a complete game loop that fits the theme well. Great work! I really liked the visual effect when the player is submerged and the music in the background sets the mood perfectly.
The concept of the game is very cool. The game will scare people who are afraid of water
Nice game. Good and simple level design, great idea with breathing underwater. Good Job!
