143 bees were eaten. Very nice.
Good little game. Getting pulled around when catching bees adds a lot of challenge to the gameplay. The WASD movement feels too weak/not very responsive which makes it hard to move away from edges after getting pulled. Also the pulling seems inconsistent like you get pulled harder toward one direction than the other, probably has something to do with the initial velocity while holding the WASD keys. Other than that the art is nice, and good job on successfully submitting to compo while learning and using new tools that is definitely not an easy task! Well done!
Well done, there are a few operational glitches, but it's playable

I had to imagine that these were striped flies, because bees are too cute and precious to eat. Patience being frequently rewarded by getting 2 or 3 at once was really neat. I only used the little shove from the tongue to move (because I didn't try the keys), so they kind of spawned in lanes behind each other. Good job! The embed on here gives me a 404, says it didn't find the index.html (it has to be in the zip root directly, not a subfolder). The one on itchio worked though.
Thank you all for the feedback. Yes, I definitely want to make the pull stronger and more consistent since it is a core feature of the game. The wasd movement was kind of an afterthought for slight adjustment to the chameleon since I was having a rough time with the tongue momentum mechanic. Also I'm impressed with that score!
And @Zirrus yes, they actually were originally flies. But when I thought about it... flies don't kill things like chameleons, so I needed a similar looking creature that had the theoretical ability to defeat the chameleon if touched. Also yes, that wasn't a build, it was the gamefiles. I thought that was the upload where I was supposed to submit my code for compo proof. I was wrong.

i like the idea, always nice to have a shooter that does not default to guns, spaceships, ... the movement is pretty challenging, i wish it felt more consistent
my best score was 67
I eat 150 bees. I didn't understand that I could move with the keyboard, so I play the whole game by moving only by eating bees. It was cool this way too. The game was fun !
I see that you used the Ludum Dare to learn how to use Godot, I did the same
The highest score I know of was 450. And that guy literally didn't use wasd at all. He just let the tongue move him around.
And ya, Godot was an interesting experience. Interacting with nodes feel similar to interacting with React components.

Having the bees slow down when they got close to you was a nice touch, kept the tension high!
Nice game, movement could use some polishing, and some sound effects and music would be nice, tho I understand doing all that solo with a bunch of tools you just started to learn would be difficult. If you are planning to get into music and sound design I would recommend Audacity and LMMS, both are free open-source tools.
Have fun with your new tools (and welcome to Godot) :]

I maxed out at 30-something bees. I thought the movement was strictly determined by my tongue strikes, only to read in another comment that I could have moved around via keyboard! Honestly, I think the mechanic of 'attacking determines movement' is really intriguing, and could make for a more interesting game in the long run. I would have liked to have seen an end-game panel that I can't just click through. I kept missing my final score because I was clicking too fast when I died.

I found I could just spam the left mouse button and use my tongue as a sword!

using the sword method I think I got 170ish points and then the game glitched and everything started moving really quickly to the right.

Simple and nice entry, specially if you're new to the tools :) I got to almost 200 bees. GG
Stopped at 300. I never really needed to move, just clicked all bees. I like the art. Simple but fun gameplay!
single and effective game. Liked the art, especially the lizard.
Very cute. I liked the extra long tongue on the lizard. I managed to eat 54 bees on my second try.

cute simple game. I think there could've been more depth to the gameplay but adding in another mechanic, like maybe the lizard's tongue gets longer the more bees he eats, or something similar so at least the gameplay evolves/changes as you get more bees? still a really good job for a compo :)

The idea is fine, but the game feels a bit unfinished. Some music and sound effects would have been great. It could also have used a bit more gameplay. But I hope you learned a bit about using Godot.

Nice and simple game, in theory could be made more challenging by increasing the number of bees on the screen gradually. The controls are easy and comfortable to use, and the visuals are nice enough, clear and colourful. I like the lizard especially, it looks cute. The background is nice as well, but I wonder if you could try it in different colours and see maybe another shade works better, because we are in the forest I assume, or some sorts of greenery, but BG looks more water-like. The animation of our stump rotating is nice, and it is a nice effort, but as of now the game can't be played for long. Maybe after the jam you could add more difficulty to it, and maybe more detailed background. It could be made in more bullethell-like game or in more of a clicker game, I think as of now you have a good base that you can use to create something a bit more complex ^^
Nice little game but please add an end screen so players can see how much they scored. I usually don't prepare to die so I don't check my score before doing so and it's all gone in an instant.
