Strong AI I really liked it. Gameplay was classic Robotron, and it was fun to listen to the GlaDOS-esque voice. Not sure how well this really fits the theme, but I guess it is fairly minimalist in the context of shooter games.
Good job on keeping a journal. Food looks good too. The music stops abruptly in your timelapse. :-[
Mondrian Nice puzzles. The music was nice too. The puzzles got really hard though and I had to give up. Fits the theme well.
Good job on keeping a journal. I wish the timelapse had some music.
Trivial Escape from Minimalist Island Easy and short. The graphics are nice. The moving mechanic was confusing. Made me miss the lighthouse for a long time. The sound effects seem out of place to me a little.
Things on Top of Other Things I liked this game a lot. Was fun to play. The levels where you were basically stacking boxes upon boxes upon boxes were boring though.
Of Robots & Groglots Nice game. It was kinda weird that your ship goes slower when you fly low. I liked the game. I wish it had music and an ending (I finished all the levels, but nothing happened). Sol's idea for the controls sounds like a good one. It is dizzying to have the screen basically jumping up and down all the time when you're trying to keep a steady course.
Still Pond I liked it a lot. I wish I didn't have to go all the way back to the beginning if I screw up though. I want to play it to the end but all it takes is one screwup to throw me back to the beginning. :-(
Pixelman 3 Nice platformer. I thought the controls could use some work though. Way too quick. There was almost no room for error with jumps. Gets hard especially when there's enemies around.
Minimaze Very very short. Nice idea though. Not sure if it really fits the bill of "minimalist" although it is pretty simple at least.
Block Picker 1.0 – final, timelapse I know the theme was "minimalist" but I thought this might have been too simple. There's room for more interesting games in that space. For what it is though, a pretty well made game. I liked having different patterns for the blocks flying on the screen.
warrior Very nice. Fits the theme very well and overall its just a very high quality package. I wish I could play it in fullscreen or at least have it capture the mouse cursor. I messed up a few times clicking outside the window. I wish the game had more levels.
Loved the snow falling in the end. It was beautiful.
On a sidenote, seems pretty impressive that you pulled off a 3D game in 48h. Sounds like Irrlicht is a pretty good tool for that, eh?
Sailor Ok, now I'm not sure if it was intentional, but I think you managed to hit the most ingenious implementation for the theme. The way to win at the game is to go for minimalism! Basically, I found that the best ship I could build was just putting one square in it.
redgate Very minimal yes. Was fun for a bit.
minimalist entry I liked the interface. The little effects with the fire and the leaves were also really nice. The game was pretty short though, and included some adventure game logic (of course I want to burn the map if I don't need it anymore). Nice entry though.
Typoworm I really liked this one. It'd be nice if you had a few chances to screw up though, because a typo will basically kill you as it is. "StartTypingToBegin" -- nice touch. Where's the worm though? I don't think I saw one.
Exxon – The decontaminator I really liked this game. I wish it had some more variety in levels (yeah, minimalist, I know), and some music/sound. The environmental theme is nice. I didn't really find much use for the nitros, although I guess they provided something else to do other than decontaminating the oil. The speed boost wasn't all that useful though.
Good journaling effort.
GBGames presents Minimalist – the Quite seizure-inducing. The music made me really anxious, which at first felt like a nice touch, but seriously, you need to release the tension at some point. :-O I too stopped at level 101. A fun basic maze game, but the visuals and sounds are horrifying after a few levels!
Props for journaling and food photos though! :-)
dots This is another one of those "what's the simplest game I could possibly make" -type entries. It is kinda fun though. I think the game crashed on me after all the balls turned blue.
Mmm.. that pizza looks good.
entry – Minim Madness Decent idea I guess, but I for the life of me can't draw those minims. The game is too finicky. The tutorial was cool, but "wait for instructions"? You're going to waste 30 seconds of my time before you tell me how to play? After watching the tutorial I of course realised that you can start the tutoial immediately by pressing S, but why wasn't that right there on the title screen?
The Butler Did It The crashes were annoying but I was eventually able to play a game. It seemed to take way too much time to watch through everybody's version of the events. Would had probably been nice to just click through a sequence that showed which room the person was in and who was there with them. The graphics were nice.
Simple maze A simple maze game. Like Hamumu said, the controls are pretty bad. I used the stringing of multiple commands, but why do I have to input "r r r d" instead of "rrrd"? that just makes it a tad more annoying. Also, for a simple maze game, I was expecting at least random generated mazes. :-/
The fact that your UI was defined by these ".dis" files is pretty cool though, although obviously as a purely technical aspect.
The ice cream looks good.
Too minimal for a name… Very nice game. Like saluk said it was frustrating when you or a gem got stuck under a piece. I liked the mechanics of the game though. Very nice use of physics. The second to last level was pretty tough. Was nice to see the blob again. Almost nostalgic.
Mininode I liked how the two levels were basically different games. The first being a puzzle and the second one being action/strategy. But then those were the only levels. Needs more levels.
Title Unknown 14211 points. I will agree with the other voters, the music was great and the game had a very cool atmosphere. It was kinda easy though once I figured out how the little yellow things were being shot out. The bit where you turned into the huge comet or whatever was extremely cool. Nice bit of pacing right there.
I was also kinda happy that it ended, because I was thinking I was going to get bored of it after a while.
And yeah, the encrypted 7z archive? Try not to do that next time. ;-)
The white gazelle laughs maniacally Neat idea. I wish the interface was completely mouse driven. Also, rotating the objects somehow didn't quite feel intuitive. I didn't really like the music.
WORLDMAKER Nice little game. Reminds me a lot of the Grow series by Eyezmaze, but text based.
Castle Adventure Nice game. Kinda hard though. I kept dying pretty quickly. Interesting choice of characters too. Are you saying women are monsters? ;-)
Also, good choice for music on the timelapse.
The Pushers This is fun. Would probably be more fun with more people playing though. Sequel with net play maybe?
win32.dll The Game Nice whack-a-popup game. Say hello to mr. Repetitive Stress Injury! The game didn't save my highscore after I closed it. :-(
Nice goat cookies and gopher. Looks delicious.
Framed! v1.1 Released Nice puzzle game. The hard mode is kinda... hard, though. The easy mode makes more sense to me. They feel like different games. I guess the easy mode is pretty easy though... Maybe there's a middle ground? The instructions weren't very clear, by the way. I had the same problem sol had until I figured out that I need to get the rogue frames too.
I like how you took inspiration from a minimalist work of art. You seem to have captured the same kind of visual look. The music and sounds are a little annoying.
Final Submission I liked how the tutorial was presented, although I guess there's a chance you miss some of it if you're in the middle of fighting enemies. I didn't really like how the ship controlled. Also the visual cue of where I was heading was too subtle. Would had been nicer if the ship was something other than a circle.
Could use some sounds. Also, next time, don't name your game "<insert theme name here>" ... -__-
Good job on the journal and the jugshots, by the way. Timelapse video should had had more upbeat music in my opinion. :-P
Brainwave Why do you hate my ears so? :-( The sound effects are loud and annoying.
I didn't really like the gameplay mechanics. I felt too disconnected from the character I guess.
MinMo LD11 Too much time was spent waiting for the pillars to move. Crushing enemies wasn't really as fun as I'd hope it to be. It was also ridiculous when the next pillar was just a couple of pixels taller, but the worm couldn't climb on it.
Yeah, ThingGo is a go go! Seems like an ok game. The score display was cool. After reading what dgriff said I guess I need to play a bit more. I didn't play that far, so maybe I missed the best part.
miniPals Nice idea. The gameplay was hampered by the physics engine though. It needs to be more responsive I think. Needs more levels also.
Simple Dungeon Nice game. The first time I played it I got stuck though, and the second time it crashed. I haven't played all the way through actually, but I think I will. I was a bit disappointed to find out the map wasn't random generated. Fighting is also too slow.
(T+48:48) Final Entry: BlockOut v0.LD48_11 Nice idea, but the game gets boring and easy very quickly. You should make the ball go faster or have multiple balls or something. A mouse interface would had also probably been a good idea.
Title Unknown I'll give you points for usage of theme, and your journal entry.
Well, I guess stuff like this was to be expected. It's funny for a moment, but no, even with what you said in your journal, I don't think this is a game, or a work of art.
Spacbattle is done-ish Didn't work for me in Windows, had to play it in Linux. And that captcha is whack.
Anyways, the game is pretty slow paced, and the controls are annoying. It seemed to me like gunships might be overpowered. Not sure about that though, but they just require the least amount of maneuvering. With some better controls the game could be a lot of fun I think.
CGA Quest I'm not sure if "old" counts as "minimalist". A tip of the hat for going for an unpopular type of retro though. ;-) The sound effects were really loud. That's how they were back in the day I guess. The fourth level was really hard. The fifth one was actually pretty easy, which was surprising considering.
Battle Magic Done! Kinda fun, but too easy, and the battle system wasn't really transparent. (I wasn't quite sure which things would affect the battle in what ways.) The old version you had looked nicer too, with the graphics and all. The interface was kinda clunky. Do you really need the "Next" button to be there?
Game Looks nice visually with the blur effects. The blocks were really unpredictable in their movements, which I though added unnecessary difficulty to the game. I also wish there would had been an alternative fire or something with slower bullets so that you didn't have to always slam the red blocks flying in the other direction. Still, a nice game.
Kill ALL Life!!! Nice idea. Fits the theme well too. I wish it had some music.
Cowbell Hero Very nice idea, and a great use of the theme... but the song syncing didn't really work all that well. It fell off beat after a while. Also, I wasn't quite sure if the notes were generated from the song or if it was a premade pattern. (I guess the fact that I couldn't quite tell at least tells that the pattern must've been pretty well made)
If the syncing worked right, this would be a really fun game.
Divine Asteroid Showdown Neat game. The instructions were pretty nonsensical though. The first time I didn't realize I could turn the shield thing around the planet. By the final level the gameplay got too hectic. I couldn't come up with a better tactic for that level than to just keep rotating the shields as fast as I could because all the planets were so close to the borders so they could be hit by meteors from any direction at any time.
“Desktop Rox” I think the use of theme here is kinda boring. I mean... it's just an Asteroids clone, right? I guess that's kinda minimalist since it's a simple game, but I would had liked to see something different. It's a solid Asteroids clone though, and I liked the difficulty level mechanic. Made me save my ammo. Some sound effects/music would had been nice.
I really liked the timelapse with the third monitor showing status at all times. The video was pretty long though. Pasta also looked good.
The Minimizing knight I had the same problem Sol had, but I fixed it by commenting that line out. Did you test this at all? :-[
Anyways, the game idea is pretty fun, and it was kinda fun to throw the morning star around. (by the way, why's it on a rubber band?) I was a little confused at first though, because I thought the castle was on the right instead of on the left. Also, the game wasn't really fun after the first few throws, when it changed into trying to bump all the cubes out of the level instead of smashing things.
Leap , at least it’s something… The collision detection seemed to be weird. Sometimes a tank next to me would hit me, sometimes not. Anyways, nice game idea, although the game gets pretty hard quickly. The graphics had a cool style, although the grasshopper looks kinda sketchy. (a lot of pure blacks, I guess)
Omnihunter Pretty good idea maybe, but I found it really hard to play. Would probably be nicer if the character was more responsive.
MiniMall I think this was a good use of the theme, but like said, the game didn't really offer any interesting challenges and you couldn't really fail either. It was fun to build the mall up a bit though and watch the little people run around in it. This could be something. I hope you improve upon it after the compo.
Space Stuff Trader Is small. Maybe you could had scaled it up? I couldn't really get past the ship controls. The ship seemed to always turn a lot more than I wanted. Also the ship seemed to go off screen when I flew a long way. Is this really minimalist though? Seems pretty complex.
Circle conquest Pretty nice game, but kinda buggy. Good use of the theme I think. Minimalist RTS. I wasn't actually able to beat the game because the interface stopped responding and I couldn't select my soldiers anymore.
Dot2doT Well, it's kind of a nice puzzle game, but I felt like in the end it was pretty random, since you can't really plan a whole lot ahead especially when the colors keeps changing when you get away from them.
As good as it is going to get Not much to do in this game. The most fun bit was talking with the other players. I guess it's successful as a chat client.
Color eater Pretty decent I guess. The control scheme is new, but in the end pretty annoying. It also gets boring looking at the same level over and over again. Some variety please!
Title Unknown Yeah, it's Qix. Fun game, although I think this version might be a little too easy because you can make boxes of any size unlike in Qix where you need to make whole lines. The music seems to not loop at all, it stops pretty quickly. Was that intentional? Graphics are pretty.
Marginal Ungolf Spectacle Nice visuals and music. I would had really liked to see more levels though. The .psd levels are a wonderful idea. Worked really nicely in this one.
Micro Macro I didn't really understand it. I shoot at a circle, it grows, I get huge scores, level changes. Is that it? Why are there multiple circles if I can just pick any? What's the point of gravitating shots?
Col-4 Might be a neat idea, but it's way too easy. I had to whack the columns down at random to even get above the edge so that I could try the unique feature of rotating the upper section. And ... yeah, it's just columns. I'm not sure if I would really even call that "minimalist" either. :-/
final version of my game Like said, has potential as an idea, but the way it is now, it quickly devolves into flying next to the enemy, then shooting, or hiding behind some gravity wells and shooting out. With some improvements to the mechanics of the ships and the wells this could probably be pretty fun. The gravitation field effect looked cool.
Title Unknown You must've messed something up. I had the same problems Hamumu did. It also didn't seem like the AI caught on to anything I did very well. I could keep selecting paper every time but it would still be about 50-50 with the win/lose ratio.
The Hunt for Pepsi Blue You'd think this was an advergame. I'm not really sure how this fits the theme. There seems to be a lot waiting around. The sound effects were a little annoying.
I also remember Pepsi Blue. Weird. They should make other colors too. Customizable Pepsi.
RPG Battle Simulation Pretty neat idea, minimalization of an RPG battle. Way too easy though. There's a little bit of decent gameplay in the beginning, but after you get a few level ups you can just mash attack. The magic missile was useless after a few level ups also.
There Is No Screwdriver Could had been a nice adventure game, but it suffers from technical problems, like Hamumu described. I also hated having to Look Around explicitly all the time instead of the game just telling me what I see automatically.
http://blahwebstorage.googlepages.com/Game.html A pretty basic shooter game. Dunno if I would really call it "minimalist" though, although it is simple, but then, most Ludum Dare games are. The shooting sound effect got pretty annoying when I was holding the button down. I liked the health bars on enemies, they were a nice touch.
Title Unknown I also spent a while trying to figure out what key on the keyboard would make the ball jump. Consistency, people! Consistency!
The collision detection seemed to work pretty weirdly, and the game was really short. Some levels were evil when they started out and you had to pretty much instantly be ready to jump.
Title Unknown A pretty basic game. The house looks really weird. Also, have you ever seen a house built roof first? ;-)
minimalist rts The game didn't seem like it was aiming to be all that minimalist, but like you said it was unfinished anyways. At least the graphics are ok. :-)
Origami Wars I'm trusting the powers at be to disqualify the entry if it did break the rules. Here's my feedback:
Pretty basic shooter. I found it kinda hard to hit enemies though. I think it would help a lot if the stream of bullets your ship shot was stedier. It would also be nice if the game didn't end right away if you get hit.
Not that it necessarily is a negative, but why did the game need an installer?
Steroids No mac for me neither.
Casey is ready to rock (kind of) TypeError: 'Body' object is not iterable

If you use bleeding edge stuff like pymunk, you should include it with your game. By the way, your readme mentions pyglet, but you aren't even using it. Don't mislead people like that. :-(
