Strong AI Fun game, and hilarious voice over ala portal. Here comes a cake related trophy...
Mondrian Wow. Absolutely awesome game. If I could give you a 10 for theme and innovation I would. You're by far the highest scores I've given out yet. Very clever and fresh and everything was perfectly applied and yet minimalistic. Also, yay for my LD toast in the time lapse :D.
Trivial Escape from Minimalist Island Awesome game. Took me forever to find that last important thing... I loved the art style. <br/> <br/>I really enjoyed the music in your timelapse -- was that the song you wrote for the game and didn't put in?
Things on Top of Other Things Good, solid game. The bow at the end was a nice touch.
Of Robots & Groglots Nice. Fresh gameplay, although the controls were a bit hard to perfect.
Still Pond Wow, I absolutely loved it. Not sure what is up with the other people -- I thought it was perfect. VERY fun, supremely clever, and surprisingly funny. Great great job. Everything fits the theme beautifully - the art, sound, and background go together really well, and the ripples and reflection are a really nice touch.
Minimaze Love the idea. Stick like 100 levels on it and its a totally viable flash game.
Block Picker 1.0 – final, timelapse Decent game. The fact that you have to overlap them instead of just touch them drove me crazy at first.
warrior Beautiful 3D. The sound and music were good too. I didn't like having a 3D shooting game without any sort of camera control though - and I kept clicking outside the window so a maximize option would be nice. The snow was awesome too. As for theme though...
Sailor Very clever idea for water physics. If you hit space after you lose, you can make it keep giving you points over and over... :)
redgate Minimal = 5 :)
Tiny Hawk final release It's all been said. Fun game. Awesome name. Wish I could turn around.
minimalist entry food poisoning, oh noes! After reading the comments and realizing it was a 'compelete' game, I went back in and finished it. Good job - I like the effects, but the menu fade-in/out was really slow. It's probably my crap machine, but it really got in the way.
Typoworm I really like what you did with the background and 'walls' Not sure how the dot is a worm, but whatev :). Great, clever gameplay - very minimalist while maintaining fun and unique flavor. Biggest complaint: I was at 1588 when I lost and the letter I was typing was way off to the right so I really didn't have as much time as I wanted to look at the letters. Also, I felt like I was juggling trying to see the letters and watch the cave. Maybe a faded out overlay of the letters instead of on the bottom? I don't know if that would work, but maybe.
Exxon – The decontaminator Nice! I really liked it. I avoided the nitro until the end though, since it was more of a hindrance than a boon. Annoying that you HAD to get them to finish the level, but no big deal. Overall it was really great. Also -- you are a brave man to let those little girls eat right next to your running laptop. I would have given you a trophy for that if the picture worked well at 64x64.
GBGames presents Minimalist – the That's a 4 in humor just for the lose noise. Oh yeah. Awesome game -- simple, minimalist, and addicting gameplay. Also, PERFECT instructions - it's all in the subtleties - that bumped your polish up to 5.
dots Fun concept! I wish you could heal by eating the other balls.
entry – Minim Madness Never got a single minim to work... I feel like you couldn't have tested this at all or are the most talented circle-drawer of all time... Why is it so hard? Why doesn't it just check for a closed polygon and a line? You could even just keep track of if/where you crossed while you drew one line, and that is the loop.
The Butler Did It I grabbed your working windows port, but it didn't really work very well. Crashed a couple times, then when it did load I couldn't tell what in the world was happening. The font was unreadable and without any interface clues I really had no idea what the icons were except the handcuffs. It sounds like a really fun game though -- maybe you can post a vid of it working :)
Simple maze Hamumu and Pekuja have it exactly right.
Too minimal for a name… Awesome! Gameplay is a LOT of fun and it all is very minimalist while looking great. Get some cute sounds to match the blob and you're golden.
Mininode I had no idea what to do until I read the comments on here. The readme was utterly unhelpful. Is there more to it than just clicking fast?
Title Unknown Great work. Awesome game, awesome music.
The white gazelle laughs maniacally Crashed on startup with no information. WinXP
WORLDMAKER ::SPOILER:: <br/> <br/> <br/>so, why do I win if I add fire to nothing, then a log, then a pebble which becomes the core of my planet, then tears?
Castle Adventure Great fun. Made me really want to play dwarf fortress again. I was mad that I couldn't defend myself with the sword without getting hurt too, but once I found the bow those evil female monsters got owned. <br/> <br/>
The Pushers It just occurred to me that this is paper racing, which explains the wonky controls. I was frustrated while playing because I felt like I was racing and should be able to keep pressing space to keep my power meter up. I now understand WHY it is turn based.
win32.dll The Game Very very funny. The music works really well with it too - nice job. I only wish I had more time to read the popups. +5 for goat cookie madness.
Framed! v1.1 Released Your explanation confused me more than the game. Once I got your art gallery stuff out of my head I did ok, but I never did beat hard. Granted I only gave it a couple tries, but still. I think the level is too long, and since you cant 'go back' I could only stand a couple tries before I quit. Overall though, great job and cool use of the theme!
Brainwave So... I'm not really sure what the point is... We both move at the same terribly slow pace through a hallway, and nothing happens. Picking arrows seems trivial, and in the few minutes I played there was a single right and no left. Since you can't move left, the powerups are useless, and the whole experience is just frustrating/boring. Also, none of my keys made it speed up, and there was no music, only sound.
MinMo LD11 Cool idea, but give me jump! I want more control, especially if I have to wait around for platforms. Also, why isn't mo a toggle? I died three times because the red snake on lvl 1 would pass over, bounce back, and be on my when I un-mo, and that was that. 3 times of that plus all the waiting around and I quit.
Yeah, ThingGo is a go go! Fun game. Got a lot easier when I just ignored the diamonds and smashed the badguys.
miniPals Cool start. As everyone has said, more levels. I bet it would be really fun with two people -- you should add controls that don't require a joystick for that.
Simple Dungeon Cool game, but I quit midway through because of how tedious the healing is. I did get a nice rhythm down with my arrow keys, but still, enough is enough. I think with a boost to the healing speed (or take healing out and rebalance) it would be really awesome.
(T+48:48) Final Entry: BlockOut v0.LD48_11 Agreeing with Hamumu across the board. Good concept - balance it better.
Title Unknown (this is a minimalist comment)
Spacbattle is done-ish Great fun! Controls could be a little better, but overall, awesome. The little lines in the corners add a lot. <br/> <br/> I also got the MSVCR71.dll could not be extracted error, but I just ran it with python.
CGA Quest I had fun. Level 4 didn't hold me up too badly, and level 5 was pretty easy, although I won it and there was still that lone left arrow (but I'm pretty sure I shot that...)
Battle Magic Done! Well, it was kind of hard to tell what I should do. Healing and minion summoning was clear enough, but piety and luck? I didn't really notice an effect, except after doing luck I lost the next 4/5 and died...
Game I'm pretty much exactly in line with dathgale here...
Kill ALL Life!!! Ohh god, the blur makes me want to vomit... and kill all life...
Cowbell Hero Awesome idea. I wish the syncing worked! I laughed the whole time. I almost gave you a 5 for music too... Seriously though, 5 and a trophy for Humor. <br/> <br/>Fix the syncing and release it again.
Divine Asteroid Showdown Screw those guys and their spelling comments :D. I had fun playing it, and I actually 'prayed to god' beforehand so I knew how to play. The planets on the edge of the screen was lame, particularly in the last level, but I won it all on the first try and had a good time doing it. I wish I had tried the shield spinning technique! My last level strategy was to just put the shields right and try to cover the left sides of the left planets, using god bombs or whatever when possible. Also, I got a lot of lag when there were 1000 'asteroids' and 10000 particles, but my computer is currently dying so that might not be a common problem.
“Desktop Rox” Super time lapse points for the status screen and for the little piles of food you keep pouring then eating :D
The Minimizing knight Hey, I got the cannot import Image problem, and fixed it by changing that line in game.py with <br/>"from pyglet import image as Image". <br/> <br/>Also, the pyglet maximized window doesn't constrain the mouse on dual monitors, so the game is totally un-playable like that since you can't move the pointer correctly. But I DLed it on the laptop and played it here. <br/> <br/>Tirpen hits on a good point about the background -- its hard to tell where you are. Would be nice to have some simple landmarks. <br/> <br/>I like the gameplay - very fun concept. Needs some levels and whatnot. I'm having grand ideas for this game too (along with your pyweek one); I'll email you about it again. :)
Leap , at least it’s something… Very impressive for just learning python and pygame. It's a good start, and your extreme expressionism (at least what you were planning) is entertaining. Biggest complaint - no way to restart. Maybe its a bug, but when I die it just sits there, tanks keep falling, and that horrible death noise plays every 10 seconds or so.
Omnihunter OMG I just realized you are moving and can control which direction you are going... Still, that doesn't change how freaking hard it is. Please, a background for goodness sake or something else for reference! <br/> <br/>I didn't have any trouble running it, but that is because I wrestled with the STUPID pyOpenGL dependency on site packages (from what I could tell it only uses it to check which platform you are on too, which is a TERRIBLE reason for another dependency). Anyway, I sympathize with the compatibility problems. <br/>
MiniMall I enjoyed the humor -- girls hitting all the clothing stores, dragging their boyfriends, etc. It would be nice to somehow 'unlock' more shops or something, so there was something new to do/look forward to.
Space Stuff Trader Hrmm... It sounds like fun, but so many things got in the way of actually playing. First of all, why a tiny window? Would be nice to have a regularly sized windowed option (maybe 800x600?). That will increase portability as well. <br/> <br/>I got molested right off the bat by some ship that killed me before it was even on screen. Literally I hadn't move yet. The controls are impossible - turning seems to be in increments of like 50 degrees so I pretty much zig zagged everywhere I was trying to go. I guess that was a good thing though, since red ships were at every planet I tried and they promptly blasted me to smithereens without me being able to even face them, let alone fight back. <br/> <br/>Still, I'm a huge fan of space shooter and space trader games, so if you finish this up, let us know.
Circle conquest Didn't read the blog until I was judging, so I suffered through the browser lag. Cool idea - iron out the bugs and add some more levels.
Dot2doT As some others have said, it's hard to care a lot when it is so random. You really can't plan, so it is just a luck game. Maybe if there was a way to see ahead, or maybe see a big map for a few seconds at the beginning or something. High score: 1018
As good as it is going to get I killed some rats, it never said they hurt me, then I died for no reason. It's cool that you have it running -- flesh it out and make a game out of it.
Color eater The comments before mine pretty much sum it up. New, but tedious controls. Level repetition. Lack of a real goal.
Title Unknown Hmmm. "A minimalist game shouldn’t really need instructions, but.." lol.
Marginal Ungolf Spectacle Great music. Has a lot of potential.
Micro Macro Fellas, gravitating shots is where its at! The purple (gravitated) shots make the targets grow, which net you more points. <br/> <br/>SPOILER: <br/>I like the gravitating concept, but it would be nice to have more of a point. It seems the best way to score points is to just sit on the side and gravitate shots right at the edge of the target so they all still hit it. Doing this I got my highscore of 1,572,918 without really trying. I'd like to see gravitating fleshed out more, and I'll probably rip it off in the next space shooter I do. :D
final version of my game Um... I fly around, unaffected by these massive gravity wells, and shoot at the other guy? No indication of damage being done or health remaining. Shooting the other colored ball doesn't seem to do anything except randomly teleport me every once in a while. Maybe this is fun if you know what is going on...
Title Unknown Same for me as for Sol and Hamumu... The only thing that seems to work for the computer is them rock, me scissors...
RPG Battle Simulation Wiering nailed it for me with his comment, "I lost (or won?) several times, but I didn't have any idea what I was doing. Probably just not my type of game..."
There Is No Screwdriver I'm with Hamumu here -- I felt like I was constantly fighting the game, instead of experiencing it. The caps are a pain in the ass, but they pale in comparison to the complete lack of interaction for commands you didn't want: <br/> <br/>You see an electronic lock on the east wall and a door to the North. <br/>You approach the closed door to the west <br/>&gt; North <br/>You approach the closed door to the west <br/>&gt; East <br/>You approach the closed door to the west <br/>&gt; Open Door <br/>You approach the closed door to the west <br/>&gt; West <br/>You approach the closed door to the west <br/>&gt; @&amp;#$ YOU <br/> <br/>This is where I stopped. :) <br/> <br/> <br/>I am way impressed that you just learned python. Keep with it and I hope you participate next time.
http://blahwebstorage.googlepages.com/Game.html Sounds like it could be a fun idea when finished.
Title Unknown Decently fun. Hitting the big blobs things has weird results. Would have been cool to have more interesting things in later levels like conveyors, catapults, or moving platforms.
Title Unknown I got it to work after uninstalling pyglet and installing the cutting edge release. If you aren't going to use a stable library build, you should include the source. Also - scariest looking construction worker ever.
minimalist rts Um, nothing seems to happen... I placed some buildings, and hit the add worker button (which I didn't see the first time around since I built in the top right), and that was that. The workers wandered about and I don't think anything else happened. You said you didn't finish -- if you decide to work on it more, post a later version because I'm interested in where it will go.
Origami Wars installer AND outside music? oh noes!
Steroids Looks cool, but no mac. Hopefully you don't win with 65 N/As and a couple 5s. :)
Casey is ready to rock (kind of) I got it to work by including the chipmunk dll in the game folder - http://pymunk.googlecode.com/files/Chipmunk-4.0.2_dll.zip <br/> <br/>The game was really hard to play though, even after I read through the long long readme to find out about the R screen. When I tried to right click, it crashed with: <br/> <br/>Traceback (most recent call last): <br/> File "C:ludumdare11<br/>firvine_billyandcaseycaseycasey.py", line 15, in &lt;modu <br/>le&gt; <br/> casey_engine.run() <br/> File "C:ludumdare11<br/>firvine_billyandcaseycaseycasey_enginemain.py", line <br/>131, in run <br/> e.update() <br/> File "C:ludumdare11<br/>firvine_billyandcaseycaseycasey_engineeditor.py", lin <br/>e 57, in update <br/> self.on_mousedown(event) <br/> File "C:ludumdare11<br/>firvine_billyandcaseycaseycasey_engineeditor.py", lin <br/>e 66, in on_mousedown <br/> self.handle_click(n, event.pos, event.button) <br/> File "C:ludumdare11<br/>firvine_billyandcaseycaseycasey_engineeditor.py", lin <br/>e 114, in handle_click <br/> p[i+1] += d <br/>UnboundLocalError: local variable 'd' referenced before assignment <br/> <br/> <br/>I used pymunk in my pyweek game and everyone had lots of trouble with it too, but I had it working on windows and not on linux :P
