LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Upventure by javicepa 2020-10-05T22:59:10Z

Very unique design and camera placement. Sometimes there were some bugs with grey screen but moving fixed it. Overall very good game!

Stuck In A Loop by Zelif 2020-10-08T10:40:41Z

The game is good, but the controls are not too intuitive (and hard to see because of small icons) and camera could use some tweaks - especially with appearing walls and how far it is from the main character in certain areas. I know it is an artistic choice to use 2d sprite in 3d environment, but I think that the guy sprite could use some work, so it fits more into the room that surrounds him. The idea is simple but very fitting to theme :)

Edge of Ludum Dare by danielblanco3d 2020-10-08T10:51:03Z

I wish it could be in English :( Can't play or rate it in this form

Inside the Planet by victor_reiner 2020-10-06T20:57:56Z

There are certain levels when you die and you just can't finish them because they don't reset at the original positions - there might be cases when you have to die again so the enemy is in correct place. But the game itself is really pretty and the base mechanic is really cool and innovative :)

Cyclic by Rodgems 2020-10-06T20:46:23Z

Very pretty game (in terms of general atmosphere and soundtrack). Felt really soothing to play, I loved it, even though environment graphics could use some work

BagJam by Ryan Paton 2020-10-08T10:48:05Z

Challenging game and interesting idea. The graphics could use some work.

Dental Recviem | That's Always Happening by Usenrame 2020-10-08T10:44:16Z

This is the funniest game I've played in edition of Ludum Dare. Very good graphics too :D

Smells Like Chlorine by TheGreenWorm 2020-10-06T16:13:55Z

I can't believe it was done in 72 hours! Great story, mood and soundtrack - the whole thing is an awesome game. 5/5

Loop Control by Tomate_Salat 2020-10-08T10:27:47Z

The game was challenging and fun! It could use a little more work in graphics, especially the background and the snake. Nice work :)

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Explovation by sadsmile 2021-04-27T08:13:22Z

The concept is really solid, I love how different the patterns are and how good for different situations they can be, however I caught myself wanting to throw bombs down the hole, only to be surprised by the bombs not falling down - I understand if it's a part of the game's mechanics, but I still wanted them to satisfyingly drop down :) Also, the blue elements could indicate more that they are the enemies' spawns, I thought that they are a diamond or a collectible - they could be more sinister to indicate that they are dangerous. Overall I feel like it's a really solid game with very nice graphics, I've spent a good few minutes diggin' :)

Abyss Asylum by Dmitry Kaidash 2021-04-27T08:25:21Z

The graphics are phenomenal, the creepy mood and art style are simply amazing. The gameplay is solid, I feel like the girl is obstructing the view a little bit too much, later in the game it's really hard to hit the pillows :) In terms of art style and theme/mood, this one definitely belongs to the top.

LD49 — Unstable

Circle Simulator by dankar 2021-10-08T07:51:44Z

Those damn healthy circles taking food from my starving ones!

I feel like this is a really good core you could base a full title on, the base behavior of the circles is well made and I like how not all of them instantaneously go for food, which adds a little more depth to it. If there were some obstacles, maybe buildings/upgrades this could be a very fun game!

Hexworld by icxon 2021-10-07T12:13:10Z

I like the medieval feeling of the game, along with fitting hand-drawn artwork and well chosen music! I enjoyed playing the game, a concept of moving lands is really interesting and well made, even though I wasn't sure what made some parts of the land crumble more quickly than others  Sadly I had some performance issues with 8 or more tiles getting attached to my main land, but it was still playable. Overall a solid entry!

Unstable Firefighter by digitaldude555 2021-10-05T21:52:52Z

The idea is really interesting, however I had trouble figuring out what I was doing wrong, as sometimes equipping axe and using it to break doors didn't work - even though I clicked there was no way to start the breaking minigame. I'd love to see it with you having a little bit more time to get rid of the bugs. However, it fits the theme really well!

Alteration by ColinBellino 2021-10-06T11:55:58Z

Wow! This game is one of the best ones in this jam for sure! Pixel art is **GORGEOUS**, even the hand-drawn subtle anti-aliasing in the logo, the animations, the background, everything looks absolutely beautiful! I also very like the direction you took with putting the game in some ancient mayan ruins environment, which gives it a calming and mysterious mood. I love drawing pixel-art myself, so I am in an absolute awe of your game's art.

In terms of gameplay, I really like the concept of changing elements. Some of the levels required more thought than others, but the overall difficulty progression was rather slow and I think that only 2 or 3 levels required me to try more than once :) Which is not necessarily a bad thing, because I'd rather finish a game than abandon playing it due to too harsh difficulty spikes. Overall the game was very enjoyable to play.

In terms of audio, I love the soundtrack you've created, it matches the game's mood perfectly and every sound is fitting right where it belongs. I only had some issues with stuttering music when changing elements, and with me sometimes going quickly across the levels, I only had like 0.5s of each music theme which made the whole thing kinda wonky  But well, these are some really small details, the sounds are top notch :ok_hand:

A 5/5 game. Seriously.

The Salatroitsk Incident by DrunkardWolf 2021-10-06T15:02:12Z

The game is super atmospheric and creepy, reminds me of Silent Hill with a nuclear post-apo vibe :) The PSX-like graphics create a unique experience, reminding me of the old times playing some creepy games (like Dino Crisis) as a kid. The actual gameplay is rather simple, but I feel like it's enough for a game like this.

The constant presence crawling behind my back sent shivers down my spine, especially when I realised that with each rock sample gathered it was getting faster and faster. This game is so immersive and atmospheric that I sat with my headphones and couldn't stop playing it, even though I am usually too much of a wimp to play horror games. The sound indicators of the monster were a good idea, I hate jumpscares so this made the game enjoyable for me

Very good submission, definitely unique and worth playing. Good job!

The Escape by Marin0104 2021-10-05T12:02:34Z

This is really good! The visual aspects of the game are really good, love the art style and the overall feeling of this entry. Gameplay-wise it's kind of hard at first. I decided to give it a few tries on normal before switching to easy, which was also not really easy haha .

I realised that instead of driving as fast as possible, it's better to carefully drive between the lava pits and wait a lil bit before proceeding, because when you see the ground getting dark below you, it's already too late  I feel like the rotating speed could be increased a little, because right now it's really hard to maneuver between the obstacles. Apart from those issues, the game is really good and fun to play! A really solid entry :tada:

Deepwell Safety Inc. by rock-gong 2021-10-07T10:58:20Z

I've spent more time at this game then I'd like to admit, it's super addictive! It gets kinda difficult later on, but the first ~30 days are manageable and that's where I started losing some money

The art is simple but it's clear for the gameplay purposes, I love the subtle story that's going on in the background and of course I really adore your soundtrack! It has a few bugs though, sometimes dragging an item to and out of the storage bugs out and disappears for a while, then clicking makes it appear again.

Nontheless, the game has an enjoyable gameplay loop and with a few more features I can imagine it being sold on Steam :) Really good entry

Orbital Swing by SpaceMonkey 2021-10-05T10:03:58Z

This. Is.

FUN!

I love the music and how the screen pulsates with it, at first the guy can be kinda hard to control, but it becomes a second nature after a while of playing. Seriously, with some upgrades, level progression and more content, I'd consider buying it on steam  Love it.

Monster Shopper by Timur_Bahadir 2021-10-06T09:09:00Z

The game is very interesting, stealth mechanics works really well and the whole gameplay is fun, and due to quick levels, even if you fail multiple times, it doesn't get frustrating. The whole concept of being a werewolf in a shopping mall is really hilarious and it fits this jam's theme really well. Artwork is also very good, I love pixel art games so it's a huge plus for me :)

The only thing I could think of improving is that due to the "time counting" nature of the game, it would be good to have some countdown or at least "Press space to start the round" after seeing your initial position on the new map, so it would be easier to beat your own time and try to get a high score. But this is actually a really small thing to be honest

The game feels complete and polished, I like it!

Hunger Of The Elder Slime by JohnLee Cooper 2021-10-06T07:27:10Z

This is a lot of fun! Even though I couldn't get past the third level (damn jellies striking down my towers), I had a lot of fun trying. I had trouble understanding the rage meter of the giant slime, didn't expect it to swallow half of my buildings, but after enraging it twice I understood what to avoid and how it works :) The game is really addictive, also I love the cute towers, enemies and all the assets! Especially the Adventure Time reference :tada: Very good entry, I love it.

Office Novice by HermesEs 2021-10-07T14:23:58Z

Typical Monday morning.

I love it. The art, the soundtrack, the **CHAOS**, every part of it is very well made!

Mint by Préda 2021-10-07T11:59:06Z

The artwork is very good! I like the portraits of the characters and smooth animations, also I feel like the lighting system adds a lot to the game's atmoshpere and the soundtrack is mysterious and "space'y"

Gameplay is rather simple, but with a twist of the gravity loss mechanic, which adds some depth into it. I feel like the rooms and corridors were a little too large, one wrong push from the wall could lead into a few seconds of flying until you can correct your mistake.

I think that the mood and overall atmosphere is top notch and it's what makes your game unique  Good job!

ŮNSTÅBLĒ by Dominium11 2021-10-05T11:25:59Z

Oh man, this game perfectly sums up what happens every time I have to change apartments and move my stuff (with the exception of exploding. It usually doesn't explode.)

It's surprisingly fun! The physics engine works well, collisions are logical (you can't just throw a TV at a table and hope it won't break  ), art style is really good and overall feeling of the game is just lovely. Very, very good! Only the green font of furniture's price was kinda hard to read, but that's a detail.

Yeah, and the sounds make the whole thing surprisingly hilarious (i lost it at the "wow" sound in the background).

HUN'S TABLE by thunderkerrigan 2021-10-06T13:57:16Z

I love the vibe of this game, hun's running to a sped up Rasputin song is not something I'd expect seeing today  I can tell you guys had lots of fun creating this game! Some of the minigames are not really clear to me, I couldn't get past the Tinder game (i couldn't really swipe? and when I could I lost a life)

I dig the pun in your title!

Manoe's Quest by Mahjoub 2021-10-06T09:24:39Z

This one is hard! But very well made and satisfying once you get how to play :) I love how finished it looks and how smooth the animations are! Music also fits really well to this type of game, gameplay-wise I think it's one of the most creative ones I've seen during this jam with the mechanic switching, I am impressed!

Antenna Antics by Vectrex28 2021-10-05T11:08:10Z

Wow, now that's interesting! I admire the dedication you had to have in order to create a working, true NES game! The art style fits really well, it's.. uh, very NES-y (in a good way), however i had trouble telling which parts of the map I could jump on and which were only decorations on the walls. Overall, the artwork is phenomenal and reminds me of old Contra-like games

Gameplay-wise it's pretty good, I had troubles avoiding cats, mostly because it seemed like I was a few pixels away from them, but still got damaged. Our protagonist is also kinda slow, which made the avoiding part a lil bit hard  I had also issues with the antennae sliders - one click left made it too low, and one click right made it too high, which made me try to move it back and forth for a few seconds (I feel like the "correct zone" should be a little bit bigger). However, apart from those things, it was really enjoyable and fun. Oh, and by the way - I'd love if a button could make the text appear more quickly or instantaneously, because I was reading faster than the dialogue was appearing

The overall mood, art style and sounds made the experience of playing this game really good.

HONK III by Tricky_Fat_Cat 2021-10-06T13:40:41Z

The game is great! It obviously feels very oldschool, with the pixelated 3D graphics it brings back memories of a previous era. I love the stylized graphics, doom-like icons and models of enemies/weapons. Gameplay is kinda straightforward, but very, very fun  Especially the parts with shooting while flying across the map on jumping pads, it was really enjoyable! Music is obviously honking great.

The only few things that weren't perfect for me was the lack of any indicator of getting hit by something - maybe some hit sound or a red screen flash? The other one was the dark level - lack of light made it really hard to navigate and I think that's a kind of obstacle that I wouldn't expect from an arcade shooter like this. Also, I'm not sure if the game has any connection to the jam's theme

Overall, it's a really well made game, I can tell how much work has been put into creating this honking masterpiece

It Was Desert by senar93 2021-10-05T09:53:56Z

Wow! The art style is really beautiful, one of the best I've seen during this game jam. Game has a really interesting and fun concept, makes your brain stretch and forces you to focus. It's surprisingly fun to play, and with the fitting, minimalistic graphics it makes playing the game a really unique experience. Seriously, one of the best out there!

Oh, and by the way, 3 stars are **really hard** to get

The Lost in Wood by Zvyaga 2021-10-07T11:46:38Z

The whole game has a creepy atmopshere, sounds are adding a lot to this feeling. In terms of gameplay it is rather basic, I feel like adding some real threats before the monster's summoning could add some novelty in this matter - maybe some kind of sneaking mechanic going along with it? The visuals are good, they fit the game's theme.

Atomic Rock Paper Scissors by lucasvb 2021-10-05T11:41:24Z

I really love the game's mechanics! It's very different compared to most of the games with a Candy-crush-styled board and I really enjoyed playing it :) Makes you think twice about your movements, the art style and music makes it all work together. Great entry, superb job!

AFTER SUN by rufson 2021-10-06T12:52:58Z

This game is crazy good!

Viusals are one of the best of this jam, the pixl art is top notch and I love the screen shakes and other effects - they create a really cool vibe :) Even the intro transition into gameplay is made super creatively, this kind of polish is rarely seen in game jam games, considering how little time there is to make such details!

Gameplay is very solid too, but as some of the people commented before me, collecting people is kinda tedious and it feels like it spoils the game's flow a little. That is until you get to the ship, which is where the fun begins  I love flying mechanics, it's very fun to play around with, only thing which took me a little bit of time was how to start the rocket, I actually had to ALT+TAB to check the instructions on your itch.io page. But the whole thing is really fun.

Audio is okay. I mean, I love the soundtrack, and the intro's vibe which transitions into the main theme etc. is really good and I feel like the whole audio is great, but it has this kind of "sharp" feeling, which makes it hard to listen to after a while. I know it's an 8-bit themed music and that's how they sound like, but when all the sounds were on top of each other (theme + rocket launching + people screaming and dying in horrible way) it made it kinda chaotic.

Overall, a very well-made game!

Deathrail by Hotowlgirls 2021-10-06T15:13:52Z

I feel like the controls could have been more well placed, like A and D could be used for balance, and arrow keys used to jump between the rails - right now it's really hard to control both your stability and choose a proper lane with just one hand  But the game is enjoyable and music fits really well, overall it's a good entry :)

The Un's Stable by Kongo 2021-10-05T11:12:10Z

Thank you guys for all the responses!

The Un's Stable by Kongo 2021-10-05T11:45:10Z

@dumrum You are right, we kinda overlooked this particular mechanic in a tutorial :) Hopefully after a short playthrough it'd become more clear to the player how it works, but if we had more time to implement some changes right now, that would definitely be one of the things to add.

@beats That's true! Actually we added the movement priority a few hours before the launch and overlooked explaining the movement order to the player. Definitely a thing to add post-gamejam :)

The Un's Stable by Kongo 2021-10-05T12:06:00Z

@zwodahs You are totally right - the achievements are very hard to get because when we implemented it, we still had only a portion of the cards currently available and the game was much easier back then (so we added them as a kind of challenge). We definitely should have tweaked those values :) Ah yes, the infamous **Entropy**... it seems that you have also fallen victim to this evil incarnate of a card

INSTABILIS (LATIN) by zakaria 2021-10-05T09:35:12Z

Game has a really fitting mood and atmosphere, style of the artwork is well made and properly creepy :) I'd love to attack in more directions than left and right, and I've kept on walking into doors to other rooms by accident. I also got stuck once. Solid game!

You Gonna Cry? by Legolula 2021-10-05T11:55:01Z

The game is hilaroious! I love the art style and overall humor of the game. Gameplay is pretty solid, it took me a while that I can slap Kevin in his face too (at first I thought I can only attack his spawns), but after I realized that it took me about two tries to win :) Very fun and funny game!

Unstable Stable by BrielleY 2021-10-06T11:31:46Z

That was... unstable

I like how abstract the story is, artwork is good and it fits this kind of game (point'n'click) very well! My only issue was that the player is instantly getting thrown into a 20s timer with no clue what to do, and the intro is not skippable so I had to replay it like 3 times before getting it right :) Overall a solid game, definitely different that most of the ones I've seen during this jam.

Temple Tumble by MatterLinx 2021-10-14T13:31:52Z

The game is great! I love how polished it feels, its' art style reminds me a lot of Enter the Gungeon, which is a good indicator because EtG has great pixel art  The light system also adds a lot to the game's atmosphere. In terms of visual stuff, I only feel like there could be two improvements - there could be a more obvious indicator of the holes, with the dimmed lights it wasn't always obvious which part of the map could be walked on and which one was a hole. The second flaw I think is a lack of visual indicator when the room's been cleared and where is the door (there could be e.g. an arrow pointing into the next room's direction).

In terms of gameplay, it's really fun. ~~I wish however that there was some kind of tumble/jump/dash option~~, because there were cases when I've cleared the room after first few seconds, and then tried to walk around avoiding holes whilst looking for the exit at the same time, which took me much more time than I'd like to admit  Also, on some "tight" maps with one tile wide corridors, the falling blocks made it kinda frustrating to get to the exit. I also feel like the player's hitboxes could be a little more forgiving, because I've died multiple times to a projectile which I was pretty sure I'd avoid, only to realize I got hit afterwards.

Overall, the game is very good. It was really enjoyable, and the whole entry felt very polished, almost like a finished game - I feel like you could add more weapons, upgrades, enemies, levels and just sell it on steam for 10$. And I'd buy it!

**EDIT:** Oh god, I just realized that **THERE IS** a tumble in-game! I just didn't bother to use the right click of my mouse :face_palm:

**EDIT2:** By the way, 2 sniper rifles with constant space-switching is pretty bonkers.

UNSUSTAINABLE: a god job by froissant 2021-10-05T10:14:34Z

Oh man, the artwork, music and overall mood & feeling of the game is great. It's really polished, even the details like lights flickering and insects flying add value to the already great visual experience. Gameplay is rather simple, with Among Us-style minigames, which at first are kinda easy, but it gets kinda difficult rather quickly (which is good!). I really love it, great job!

Babysitting Simulator by LeXian 2021-10-05T09:46:55Z

Multi-tasking: The game

Art style is fitting and really well made, however there are small imperfections, like the the icons next to the baby, which have been stretched over their original ratio :) I've also encountered some bugs (probably?), when the monster didn't leave even after being hit.

Also I was slightly confused at first, because after defeating the monster it doesn't leave right away, but slowly slides across the screen, which then appears as an arrow - this leads to having an arrow on the edge of the screen, which points you into the direction of a monster which has already been defeated.

The game is also kinda hard, I can't seem to survive for more than a ~minute, even though i try hard to both get rid of monsters and keep the baby satisfied :D

Llamageddon by Dunk 2021-10-06T13:14:31Z

I actually couldn't find another player to play with, so I played with myself from another tab :D It's hard to say much about the actual gameplay without a second player, but it seems like it has potential - gaining more tiles gives you more spawn points so it's much about fighting for a proper amount of bases :) Visually it's pretty good, llamas are super cute and with the music it's creating a really fun mood in the game! I wish there was a solo play mode, but I guess implementing a working multiplayer must be very time consuming, so the lack of solo is understandable. Also apart from the map hanging in the sky and being wobbly, I'm not sure how it fits this game's theme :(

Total Meltdown by felixgamedev 2021-10-05T09:26:09Z

The game is really well made! I like the stylized graphics and the concept of managing a nuclear reactor is really interesting. However, I think that the controls might be a little bit uncomfortable - having to precisely aim to hit small buttons along with having to rotate to check out temperature, water etc. makes it really hard to control and panic-inducing :D (which might have been a deliberate thing actually...?).

Overall I like the atmosphere of this game, sounds are fitting, graphics are solid, the only thing could be maybe making the buttons etc. bigger to make the controls easier.
